He's actually surprisingly gentle with your child. If they cry he'll pick them up and comfort them very well. He's like a whole different person when your kid is scared or sad- it's the cutest thing ever

If your child ever gets him a Fathers' Day present he'll probably cry like old man tears of joy. In fact if your child ever does anything nice for him he'll be incredibly touched. Kinda reminds him what he's doing his job for :')

Tells your child great exaggerated (CHILD FRIENDLY) stories about his heroic achievements as a soldier before bed. It's genuinely super cute you guys

If the kid ever runs up to him in excitement when he arrives home in the evening he returns the energy and is like 'omg there they are! that's my kiddo! how have you been??' and picks them up and AUGH they're so cute

Jouno just isn't good with kids. Not in the sense that he's scared of them but that he doesn't really know how to interact with them without being intimidating or otherwise just detached

But he really loves you, and he wants to be a good parental figure to your kid, so he tries to warm them up to him by getting them a gift. That probably helps- he might not know much about kids but he's right to assume that they fucking love receiving gifts

Whatever your child's hobbies/interests are, Jouno genuinely does try to connect with them over it, and after a while it does work.

Soon enough your child and Jouno are inseparable and your child is spewing sadistic military rhetoric and oh dear god you've made a terrible mistake introducing the two of them

Yeah, Jouno probably teaches your kid all KINDS of horrible things. He will tell your child stories about times he's tortured suspects, or slaughtered gangs, and just stuff that is not family friendly. You have to nip that behaviour in the bud or else...

He's generally pretty good at taking care of your child, but like, if your kid cried because they were scared there was a monster under the bed, Jouno would probably be like "Yeah. There is. Good luck." and then turn off the lights and leave 💀

Just give him time. He'll learn how to be an emotionally available parent at SOME point

Tecchou:

He's not the step dad. He's the dad that stepped up

Tecchou is definitely very aloof and awkward around your child- like, he knows how to interact with you, but children are different. Children are frightening. And they are his biggest fear maybe

In spite of this, he is fiercely protective of your kid. He will make sure that child is as safe and calm as possible at all times, and he certainly prefers to show that he cares through actions rather than words.

He usually wouldn't initiate physical contact with your child but if they hugged him he would hug back, if they gave him a hi-five he would do it back, etc etc. he will never let your kid down

If your child likes make belief, you can bet you'd walk into a room and find your kid all dressed up, off their rocker in full theatre mode, while Tecchou is sitting on the floor, also dressed up, but looking more depressed than ever before

Save him from your baby. They are taking YEARS off his life

He probably accidentally sends your kid to hospital at some point because he cooked for them. Damnit Tecchou, how don't you realise that a child's stomach wouldn't be able to handle a combination of chocolate and beef

It's okay though, he does learn from this. Plus, he takes care of your child and buys them presents and hangs out with them until they're better <3

He might not join your child in the ball pit, but he would watch them swim around in there with the softest, faintest, most affectionate smile on his face. And that is all that matters folks

The funnest, meanest, coolest auntie ever

Teruko will lead your child down a dreadful path. Limit their visits to holidays and birthdays for your own sake and the sake of your young one

She's really more than happy to negatively influence look after your child if you need her to though, and they love her because she's super chill and lets them get away with all kinds of things (that aren't violent crimes against humanity)

Your parent says one cookie after dinner? Screw it, have six. I won't tell if you won't. - Teruko, probably

She uses her ability to entertain your kid sometimes- usually she'll decrease her age so she can join them in things like building pillow forts and playing on jungle gyms

I'm just picturing them playing at the park and some concerned parent coming up to them asking where their guardian is and Teruko just fucking transforms into a grown woman on the spot and goes 'WHO'S ASKING' 😭

Teruko is a super cool fun aunt. But she is very wise, and she really will give your kid good life advice on occasion.

She'll also cheer them up when they're feeling down, and if they're feeling scared she helps them step out of their comfort zones and confront their fears (in a safe way!!)

If your kid is like, getting picked on at school or something, Teruko will nag you to phone their school about it. If you don't, she does. If they don't do anything about it, she does. Bottom line is NOBODY fucks with your kid when Teruko is around

Help he's so nervous at first? Tachihara this is a child, not a wise sage- you can be normal around them

He just wants to make a good impression on the child okay he's doing his best

Tachihara has a bit of a concern that the kid will think that he's trying to replace their other parent, which is fair, but it's unfounded because your child absolutely adores him and does not care about that at all

If your child ever calls him 'Dad' watch his soul fucking transcend to a new plane, he's so surprised and honoured that this beautiful person's child would consider him their parent

Your kid has Tachihara wrapped around their tiny finger. He will oblige them with anything- if you've got a toddler who likes uppies and piggybacks, say your prayers for Tachihara's upper arm and back muscles because he will carry them for hours

for brevity, i've chosen three songs from each album to compare to each other to show, how taylor has evolved between 1989 and midnights, and how the latter carries over themes from the former. and i'm gonna put it under the cut bc it got kinda long woops

Bland Space & Anti-Hero

Blank Space was the first time she wrote a song being self-aware (technically shake it off came first, as a single, but i'd argue blank space is more specific). It's specifically about how her dating life is perceived in the public eye, and she acknowledges how it is kind of ridiculous, but also that, even though the men she dates know what they're signing up for, they still decide to date her.

Anti-Hero follows the same theme of self-awareness, though now, almost a decade later, her fame is in focus, because she's become the monster on the hill, the most famous woman in the room at any given moment, and for some, the public included, this is grating. And she knows that, and points out, that she's aware of her faults, and she's sorry, but she is who she is. There is also more angst about her legacy - "I have this dream my daughter in-law kills me for the money" - which again shows that her priorities have changed. Of course she's worried about if her lover leaves her when he gets tired of her schemes, but what if one of her children marries someone who's more interested in her money than in them and is willing to kill for it? What does that say about her as a potential mother?

Out Of The Woods & Question...?

This one is kind of obvious, but stick with me. The way I see it, after love & heartbreak, Harry Styles is her eternal muse. It's a relationship she keeps returning to throughout her discography, and I have to wonder if it's because that relationship really did a number on her, and even after all these years she keeps lying awake at night wishing it had turned out differently. I also theorize that after all these years, Styles has become less of a person in her mind than a concept. The one that got away, the great love of her early 20s. She's never writing about him as a person anymore (post 1989, including vault tracks), but merely as a symbol of eternal regret and youth wasted. With this in mind, let's get into the songs:

OOTW asks the question: are we out of the woods yet? Can we stop fretting about our relationship and how it looks to the public and just be in it? She says "We were built to fall apart, then fall back together". She knows this relationship is doomed, but she is also convinced that they will find their way back together eventually. At this point in her life, Styles is her recent ex and she's closer to the situation, so we're able to get more details of their relationship (the Polaroid, the accident, moving furniture so they could dance etc). Even though this relationship has already ended, and she's remembering back to it in the present, it's still a fresh wound. Maybe even a wound that will never heal.

Question opens with "I remember", sampling OOTW and tying it directly to that song, that period of her life, and Styles. Now in her 30s she's lying awake at night, and asking herself, and him, what the fuck actually happened back then, and why did he treat her like that. "Did you wish you put up more of a fight?" Do you regret it? Do you miss me like I miss you? "Does it feel like everything's just like second-best after that meteor strike?". By now, her relationship with Styles is a distant memory, and he himself has become a muse for her to escape to from her current, unsatisfactory relationship. The lyrics are less specific too, we only really get any details in the chorus, because Styles merely a concept at this point, an amalgamation of all her exes into one, and she's asking all of them: do you wish it had turned out differently?

New Romantics & Hits Different

This one is a little silly, but also very serious.

New Romantics is about moving to New York with a broken heart but trying to have fun with your friends regardless. It's about being young and having fun and not worrying about love or anything else, and it's about valuing the people in your life who are there for you, and not chasing someone who doesn't care about you. "The best people in life are free".

Hits Different, compared, is a kind of devolution. She's still at the club, but she can't stop thinking about her ex, and though her friends try to cheer her up, it's just not working. If New Romantics is the pre-game where you get dressed to go out and forget about your ex, Hits Different is the six hours and a bottle of vodka later, where you go to the bathroom and stare drunkenly at your reflection in the mirror - all red eyes and smudged mascara - and you break down crying because you just thought of your ex again. Escapism can't mend a broken heart. And that's what she has realized on this song. This ex, this is the one she can't get over, no matter how hard she tries. Who this ex is, however, we'll never know. My money is still on Styles.

rereading tlp pt 2 got me so fucked up like omg.... jk harbored all those feelings for EIGHT WHOLE YEARS and the ONE time he confessed it to her she didnt even believer him 😭 and i feel like so many factors mattered in that like yeah, he dated around and all that but i feel like beneath it, it's not just that!! it's also the context of the situation. SHE just found out that her boyfriend is actually a huge dick, and not just thta but actually he also HURT her bestfriend terribly before. and mingyu and jk just got into a PHYSICAL fight.. ofc miss oc would be confused as fuck 😭😭😭😭 its such a real and raw reaction tbh. i feel so bad for jungkook bcs the confession couldve literally happened any other time, like maybe when they're not in that kind of distressed situation, but he basically got cornered bcs of how things turned out 😭 i am prob delusional to think this but i feel like had it not been the context, oc will be more calm about the confession??? the two of them were just so tense and so on edge that i doubt any of them were thinking straight and in the right headspace.

this realization just made me hate tlp mingyu so bad like he really ruined it for the both of them omg....

jk has always thought about confessing his feelings for oc, but out of all the scenarios in head, it was not that. the physical fight with mingyu and the tense atmosphere in the room at the villa def cornered him into confessing, and he's struggling an internal battle for that bcs in his head there's so many what ifs floating around. what if i didnt take mingyu's bait? what if i kept quiet? what if i didn't throw the first punch? what if i just shut my mouth the whole time __ was talking to me?

meanwhile oc def had a hard time trying to wrap her head around the whole thing. it just felt like jungkook just dropped a bomb in front of her 1) told her her ex gf cheated on him with mingyu, her boyfriend 2) told her mingyu basically DISRESPECTED her behind her back by talking disgustingly about her with other men 3) and that apparently, her boyfriend thought goading her bestfriend about her would tip him off 5) because apparently, jungkook has feelings for her. established for the past 8 years.

all those things cannot be processed in a very brief period of time. mingyu has become an important person to her over the past few months, and realizing that he's not the person she knew him as hurt her big time, and rightfully so. that coupled with jungkook's unexpected confession, her mind just went into a haywire. whose wouldnt tbh??

and as per ur words, had that not been the context of the whole situation, her reaction wouldve been a lot more different, thats for sure!! oc would never intentionally hurt jungkook in any way shape or form. had it been a diff time, shed def tell him that she would think everything over, and not accuse him of lying (like she did in canon) just because she has this distorted idea of his dating life. she's way more level-headed and mature than that – both of them really. but ultimately, theyre just humans and they make mistakes every now and then!

Various Wundersmith thoughts and things I've noticed after rereading the book for yet another time:

This one is significantly longer and a little bit more random than my recent Nevermoor reread, but who cares 🤷 the more the merrier!

There are things both serious (theories, thematic parallels, etc.) and silly (jokes, personal reactions). This time around I discovered the annotations feature in Apple Books and had a lot of fun with that, so I'll try to include the bits I highlighted when necessary. Enjoy!

— I like the interest Mog has in Bohemia, and I'm interested based on that one Silverborn snippet for her to return (and eventually explore other parts of the city as well)

— Jupiter referring to the junkies as "they're not patrons of the fine arts" feels like a nice little set up for the Museum later on. Thought of and admired as an art piece, but the rich folks at the auction don't actually care about the work put into it.

— Do you think the folks at Wunsoc that organize the little show that welcomes 919 are a little peeved that the Fireblossom's being reignited means that they can't perch creepily in them anymore lol.

— I wonder if the Wunsoc Oath has a pre- or post- Massacre origin

———— This book is heavy on Squall controlling and manipulating folks, both literally with Wunder but also mentally with words, so could be interesting if that played a part in the revolt

— Regardless, something spooked Onstald enough to turn from admiring and studying Wundersmiths and their ways to hating them, and I'll forever be interested in what happened.

—— I think there could be some slight truth in him viewing all Wundersmiths as bad, because some stuff, like Mathilde's Morbid Museum (lol), could indicate some darker inclinations by folks other than Squall

— Maybe I'm an idiot for not realizing this before, but I don't think it was Jupiter that got Mog/919 into the Maps class.

— I'm a bit of a pessimist (SORRY) about the movie adaptation, and once thing about this book is that I'm mourning that it'll probably never get adapted.

—— I think that the idea of Nevermoor as a movie musical works so much better with Wundersmith because there's so much more magic and music and singing in this one, with both Israfel and the first Nocturne lessons. I could see it the integration of the non-diegetic (?) songs that the characters sing and the themes of the movie/books work better with this book than the first one just because of that.

— Morrigan compares Squall's Séance Synchronicity to Coven 13 in the Fright Trial... are these magics connected at all, or will we learn more about the different magics in the world at some point?

And now everyone accepts it as basically canon lol!

— Wonder if the Wundrous Arts sign got changed to Wretched Arts before or after Squall's exile, in order for him to know about it. I have some theories on the timeline of all that that I'll share at a later date.

— I often forget and I think it's often overlooked that the Magnificub growing was Squall's doing, not just Mog's.

Psych x Community ??

I love psych and i love community so this vague concept of them existing in the same universe has been floating around in my head. 

The key connecting factor being the references to Shawn/Britta’s similarly eclectic off-screen pasts. They're close in age so I'm like okay - it would totally be possible for them to have known eachother/dated/whatever at some point before. 

psych aired from 2006 - 2014; Shawn born 1977

community aired from 2009 -2014; Britta born 1980

(Take these two quotes just as an example but it's referenced casually throughout both shows)

So that establishes a link between the groups, but what would it be like if they interacted? Take the arbitrary scenario; Shawn and Gus have gotten themselves and by extension the SBPD into another whacky shenanigan somehow who cares how i'm not writing this

I imagine initially everyone in the study group has a more or less positive impression of Shawn because he's charming, (with the notable exception of…you got it! Jeff)

i like the idea that reader n chris meet in high school and just click together rly well lol and felix starts crushing on them after reader shows up to a swim meet a few years later while felix is a freshman. reader's cheering on chris and felix because they wanna be supportive and reader hugs felix afterward and he's like omg (flustered). he doesn't act on it for a while because he thinks the crush will go away, esp after reader goes abroad for school, and then they come back and felix's crush comes back in full force. all of his friends (the rest of the 00z + jeongin) know the lore by now and have been sworn to silence. there's just some sort of rekindling of things, both have matured a bit, and its kind of a "im getting to know you again and oops we're falling in love" while reader and felix scramble to keep their relationship hidden from chris (bc reader, like felix, also knows how much dirt chris has on them. neither part of this relationship will get to live with chris around)

i like to imagine that eventually it leads to a big fight because i live for the drama in fiction lol where chris finds out and he's hurt because two of the people he loves most have been hiding this from him and he feels horrible because why wouldnt they trust him??? reader calls things off with felix because they feel guilty for hurting him, felix is upset and feels guilty for hurting chris as well, and the three start to avoid one another fully after the fallout. it 100% takes the rest of their friends to trick them all into the same room and being like 'ok work this shit out because ur depressing us.' they work things out, probs w chris admitting he never wanted them to hide their relationship and he def didn't want them to break up as a result, he just wishes they had talked to him, etc. and they work things out and happy ever after :)

- I'm not sure how you imagine they got together. But me personally, I think it might have been like a slow burn situation. Like maybe they got separated from the others somehow (whether it be for a mission or they got in trouble), and now they have to work together. Maybe whatever this situation, they'd see sides to each other they didn't see before, and it brings them closer ^^

(Either thar or, alternate scenario that's kinda crack, they were together but broke up before the gang got together, and are nowkinda bitter exes (or rather they're still in love and don't want to admit it) and that's why they fight all the time)

- Ok so I they did get together, I imagine they'd deal with their drastic horny levels in one of two ways. One, either Psycho will sleep with Greasy (when he's in the mood) for him. Or two, they make like some sort of agreement that Greasy can still go out and find someone to sleep with, as long as he always comes back home to Psycho (I'll be honest, I like the second option a bit more. It's sweet that they'd trust and love each other that much)

- if it's the latter, Psycho would be all over Greasy as soon as he comes home. Partially because he missed his boyfriend, and partially to get the smell of another person off of him (this will also become an indicator to the others whether or not Greasy got some. So Greasy can't lie about his fuck number anymore XD

- If Psycho can get away with it, he'll refuse to eat anything that isn't Greasy's cooking. If he's starving, he'll accept a sandwich. But he would prefer his boyfriends food anyway.

re the whole ladynoir arc and how things will play out I GENUINELY THINK adrienette will break up at some point bc this show IS like the drama show and it has a minimum of 3 more seasons left AND the love square is never be stable for long and ifl that will always be the message pre-reveal. like if u have 2 identities each that all constantly interact (ladynoir and adrienette) u will always eventually feel conflicted between both identities bc that's how perfect u r for each other! the whole point is that a reveal would eventually solve everything and thats why pre-reveal love square is always doomed. i love suffering btw. ANYWAY adrienette rn is interesting bc they're getting closer but also facing problems at the same time and i think their time as a couple will make them so very interesting like. as exes. Woooaaaah, okay. I just finished so assorted, unorganized Earthspark thoughts under the cut. Part 1

The things regarding the existence of the triplets that made me uncomfortable were not adressed, as expected. Still it's been long enought that I could make peace with it and was able to watch the show without wanting to throw up.

They could have done a better job of balancing the cast now that it's so crowded BUT making Twitch a big sister paired wonderfully with picking up the epiphany she had on episode 10. She's was wondeful on this batch. Love the contrast with ep 3 where she doesn't really care about Bee's training to ep 14 where she's like "we have to do drills people!!!!"

Truly the triplets are great. The problem is that this all highlights how much I don't actually care about Mo and Robby?? Like ofc the Cybertronians are gonna seem far more interesting, but also they throw me off. They kinda get the worst dialogue and then there's this thing with Mo where it feels like she acts too mature for her age some times and other too generic cute kid (at least I'm back at the English dub, because in Spanish this is worse) and it both feels pretty fake and breaks my immersion and reminds me this is not an appropiate situation for her.

Also so many moments that are too corny for me.

But I mean, this is a show for 8 year olds, Barbi, what do you expect?? (I do think Robby and Mo could have better dialogue, but otherwise it's the genre and audience. I can't complain at the steak house's poor seafood selection).

Hashtag is super fun and also her powers are extremely OP dasfdhgkjash what, how does that work? Why can she control so many things? I love the satellite ponytail. I need a IDW1-esque Thundercraker to show up and be her Cybertronian mentor.

Obsessed with the subtext of and older queer person bonding with a young queer, with the background of Nightshade having been raised in a different context with a supportive family. It's lovely. Tarantulas inmediately adopting Nighshade, but he's so lonely and doesn't know how to do relationships quite right. I love heeeee!!!!

What was episode 14???? I was thinking that maybe it would fuel a new Bee/Breakdown ship but oh my god???? I was not expecting this to be so romantic, like what the fuck. They upped the cinematography to showcase that Bee and Breakdown are in love. They've always been in love. They had the interfaction romance of a lifetime, megop who?

Really, it was the best episode. Except for the fact that Taratulas exists. But the ending??? Omg.

Sleep With Me Live Blogging

My first Filipino show. I would’ve thought it would be Gaya Sa Pelikula since it’s held in such high regard and I’ve had it in my To Watch for so long but idk, I wanna try this one.

Ep 1 (Sept 3)

wow I don’t have this downloaded but am using my data to watch it during lunch because of upgraded phone plan data. such luxury

[Linguistics] Interesting language experience tbh. I’m not fluent in any of the EA/SEA languages of the shows I watch but I have some understanding of Korean and I’ve watched enough shows in Thai, Japanese, and Mandarin that I have a grasp of the cadence as well as some nuances/honorifics/some basic words etc. However, I have no experience with Tagalog (I assume that’s what they’re speaking) so I don’t know any words/honorifics/cadence etc BUT they’re only speaking that like half the time. The other half is English which I’m fluent in. So it’s a strange experience where in Korean I might be understanding 30-40% of what Im hearing based on my level of Korean and my inferencing skills but here, I’m understanding 30-40% completely clearly (English) but not at alllll of anything else. Also spanish? but idk any of that either

This is really good so far, I’m engaged in the story and curious about what’s gonna happen. This ep was mostly about Luna and her sleep problems/break up with ex/being emotionally available and apparently not a good friend

Ep 2 (Sept 3)

Harry is gonna look through her ex’s stuff in her free time for free?!

kinda losing my mind at how Cute their endearing their awkward and fumbling interaction is. why does it feel so real omg

ahh Luna’s situation of being told to exert herself more when she’s already trying hard and has a sleep condition is so frustrating

the penultimate episode angst and breakup nooooo but they set it up well so that we could see the points where they are struggling to meet in the middle/places of tensions/situations that went wrong etc

the breakup scene was sad af

plsssss I love Luna crying about the breakup to Wendy while drinking and Wendy laughing at her

ah, they're going on with their lives separately and with new/old friends (Wendy-Luna is sooo fun).

cute little reunion and circling back with the giggly convo at the same restaurant + "wanna go on a date with me?"

I think it’s so interesting how Luna has mentioned a few times caring for Harry or not being able to and Harry is like wtf don’t think of me that way because she’s averse to being seen as a charity case/burden/dependant who is fragile but Luna has followed it up with we all need care/need someone to worry about us.

Overall:

A great introduction to Filipino media for me! It's short (like 2 hours total probably) but didn't feel cramped, the girls were fleshed out individual characters and I enjoyed seeing them come together. I also liked their relationships with other people like Luna's fun friendship with Wendy + Harry's dynamic with her brother. They were both disabled in different ways and we saw how it affected their lives both with the outside world but also with each other. Very cute and endearing, felt very natural.

I could say so much about the season 4 finale cliffhanger but I won’t say anything until you watch the premiere of season 5 just so I don’t spoil anything on accident. What I will say is that scene has always haunted me too and is one of my biggest fears as well.

omg please, i've been on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next and how they open season 5, but i was waiting for a moment of peace so i can really sit down and absorb it.... or absorb as much as i can while going through a rollercoaster of emotions. and while i don't wanna jump back to that scene of grant just casually lounging about, i would hate even more if they did a little time skip from that. like they jump ahead to the next week or something like, "hey remember when my ex-husband broke into your apartment with a knife while we were hooking up?" 😀 because i'm ngl while i love this show and am endlessly entertained by it, they've had so many little unanswered subplots that leave me hanging with so many questions. for example, i'm still very curious to know about brett and her childhood because she's said it herself that she can't and i quote "leave her heart at the door" after dropping off patients, and that especially rings true in dyer situations like the mother that was shot just before she gave birth. or the dad who 'abducted' his kid from his mother because he claimed she was an addict. like.... why are these plotlines being brought up for just that one singular episode?? like i still genuinely waiting to circle back to that plotline (even though they're not going to) because i just have so many fucking questions about it and sylvie now as a character.

anyway i've done enough rambling for now 😅 i've got some snackies and i'm about to press play on s5 rn. wish me luck!!

Someone had reached out to my roommates and I about taking their ex’s corn snake from them since he had essentially abandoned her, and when I asked for a picture of her set up, this is what they sent… we made arrangements to go pick her up from them immediately!!!

Can you believe this?! I wanted to share with someone who would be pissed with me… I had to hold my tongue the whole time we were picking her up… omg I was completely speechless. They had a heating pad on the SIDE of the tank for goodness sake!!!!

But anyways, we adopted her, got her a new tank, new and tons of decor, 3 hides, and a lot of love 💚 We named her Kanagawa after the great wave!! 🌊

Her situation was not good, but I've definitely seen worse and sadder setups. It's actually best that they had the heat pad on the side of the tank in this case because I'm not seeing a thermostat anywhere and if it had been on the bottom it probably would have overheated and cracked the tank by now. If you read the instructions that come on those UTHs, many of them even specifically say to put them on the side because they're not recommending that you buy a thermostat. That's just a bad business decision if you ask me, they could be making more money if they sold thermostats, too, right?

Trust, after years in the pet industry my bar for what constitutes a "bare minimum standards" enclosure is embarrassingly low. This cage tells me that somebody at least cared at the start and tried to do their best and then sorta gave up in the middle...

Regardless, I'm very happy that she's got a better enclosure and a much happier future ahead of her!

Ggggrrr, i like the idea of Stalker Francis.

I love a good childhood besties who have grown apart but when they're older they have their "oh shit I'm in love" moment w the other already having a rocky relationship w someone else

I also love the friends w benefits w the bitter angst if both (or preferably 1 of them) wanting a serious relationship but not being able to ask for it so they just hide their feelings and continue how they are because they would rather have that than lose their love

There is also a good type where the relationship didn't work out but they miss each other and want to try again but their first try was so toxic so it becomes a "the one that got away" type of situation

My faves are the ones where one dies of whatever reason, terrible accident, wrong place at wrong time, some form of illness of health issue and the other is forced to live without them but the heartache is eating at them
