But then the next day they meet in a coffee shop or something and he doesn't have the guts to go up to her. But basically they keep bumping into each other in the weirdest circumstances until he's like fuck it the universe is giving me a sign here. But I dunno if I'll write it

She shrugs off her brother and eventually the rest of the guys filter out, getting ready for the show. She watches as they begin to soundcheck, George still standing by her side.

“You could at least pretend to be upset for me” she says, nugging against him slightly. She feels him lean into her slightly, lips grazing her ear.

“Upset because you cheated on your boyfriend with me?” he says, his words tickle at her skin and she shivers “never” he walks away from her, all but jumping up to the stage, hiding behind his drum kit but she can see his smirk clear as day.

Charles couldn't believe it. He had his phone in his hands, a picture of Amira and Dominik Szoboslai open on his Instagram. The two of them at lunch. Her, wearing a pretty blue of the shoulder summer top with shorts. Her hair done in beautiful summer waves. A light make up, that highlights her warm chocolate brown eyes. A content smile resting on her face. And then there was him, with his stupid smirk. And stupid hair. And his stupid hand resting on her perfect arm. How. Dare. He?!

When Charles first arrived at the conference room, he found himself alone. Seeking a moment of respite from the impending chaos of the Ferrari garage, he pulled out his phone. Instagram beckoned, and he hoped to catch glimpses of his beautiful girlfriend or their pretty babygirl. But fate had other plans.

Suddenly, Charles’s screen flooded with images of Amira Sainz sharing dinner with that infuriating footsy player. His mind raced, emotions colliding like race cars on a tight circuit. The room, once empty, now teemed with drivers, FIA employees, and officials. Max, seated next to Charles, leaned in. “Charlie, mate, are you alright?” he asked, concern etching his features. The other drivers followed suit, their collective gaze fixated on Charles. Carlos chimed in, “Yeah, Lord Percival. You look really pale.” The chorus of agreement echoed around him, a symphony of curiosity and worry.

When Charles remained silent, Lewis laid a comforting hand on his shoulder. “Charles, hey buddy. Talk to us. You’re kind of scaring us.” Encouraged by Lewis’s words, Charles turned his phone toward the others. The room erupted with various reactions. Carlos looked as though he’d seen a ghost, while Mad Max made his first appearance in five years. Pierre let out a blood-curdling “Nooooo,” Alex and George scrambled to catch a fainting Lando, and even Yuki dropped his Dino nuggets—a sure sign of shock.

After five tension-filled minutes, Daniel broke the silence. “We can’t let anything happen. This can’t turn into something,” he began. “Hell, boys, we won’t let a stupid football—” “Um, you mean soccer,” Logan interjected. “Shut up, Logan,” Max retorted. Daniel continued, carefully navigating Carlos’s presence, “Steal our … friend.”

Carlos, lost in his own world, grappled with the image of his perfect baby sister spending precious time with a stupid football player—someone who didn’t even play for Real Madrid. How could she? So imagine Carlos’s surprise when he was suddenly slapped across the face. All eyes turned to Charles. “Sorry. Are you with us again?” No one—not even the nice lady tending her Greek garden in Italy—expected the kind Monegasque to snap Carlos out of his panic with a resounding slap. “Always, Percival,” Carlos reassured. While the other drivers still reeled from the unexpected incident, the two Ferrari boys had already begun plotting how to keep Amira away from Domi—no, from Szoboszlai. (He didn’t deserve to be called by his first name.)

And boy, planning, they did.

The drivers constructed a kind of timetable for spending time with her. For example, Oscar would have the honor of spending every Monday dinner with her, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. George, on the other hand, would enjoy Wednesday mornings in her company—a fact he promptly shared with Carmen, who was more than delighted. Kika and Pierre were allowed Thursday lunchtime visits. The two of them had initially hoped for overnight stays, but Carlos put his foot down. The mere thought of them manipulating their way into sharing a bed with her… Well, Carlos didn’t even want to entertain that idea.

During Qualifying, Red Bull had the privilege of calling her their VIP guest. The race would be watched in the Ferrari garage, with her seated between their cousin and their Papá—or perhaps cuddled up between Rebecca and Alex.

So imagine Baby!Sainz’s surprise when she returned from her lunch with Dominik, who had been so friendly as to gift her a Versace necklace. She was immediately surrounded by Alex and Fernando. And the revelation that the two of them were friends? Well, that was a twist she hadn’t seen coming.

So everyday she would spend every hour of every day with either a driver, a wag, or both of them. And for some reason, Pierre and Kika always insisted on taking a shower during Thursdays lunch time. Together. But who was she to deny the princess treatment from them.

And Dominik?……. I'm sorry, who?

Oscar is more than used to speed, for obvious reasons.

Speed has been a constant in his life, even as a child. His mom, embarrassingly, likes to tell people that as a kid he’d pretend to act like a car, revving up and down his house like a madman. He remembers his first karting competition, the confidence that flowed through his veins and the adrenaline of thinking he was the fastest 10-year-old to ever exist. He’s still confident, he has to be, in order to make it in this sport, but he’s had years to refine his technique, understand his car, and finesse his driving so he can achieve the speed he needs to win a race. His speed on track has earned him a spot in the most exclusive grid on the planet, a process that was fast-tracked itself when he made the move to McLaren, shocking the motorsport world as he did.

And yet.

Oscar’s never really thought of himself as a jealous person. His mom jokes that he’d been a pretty chill baby, and that even when his younger sisters came along, he never really fought for his parents’ attention, which at first worried his parents, afraid that he’d simply been building on his rage and would throw a fit eventually. But no, not really, Oscar had just been content with being there, watching the world around him with wide, observant eyes. So long as they let him read his car magazines and zoom around his house pretending to be a Ferrari, he was fine with having his younger sisters around.

“I think Ozzy here is not telling us something, mate,” George conspires, and Alex hiccups through a laugh before he stands, wobbly, and walks closer to where Oscar’s standing.

“Out with it, you rascal,” says Alex, hand aiming for Oscar’s shoulder but landing somewhere on his collarbone instead.

Oscar can’t help laughing at the ridiculous display in front of him and decides to simply accept his fate and tell them, as good-naturedly as he can: “Pretty sure he’s somewhere around here hooking up with Daniel’s sister.”

He’d thought his pals’ reactions would range from vulgar remarks to crude gestures, jokes at Daniel’s expense, that sort of thing. Instead, his announcement is met with drunk pity. They both look like they kicked a puppy, and the puppy is Oscar.

This is precisely why he’d been pretending to be drunk. So that they could maintain the guise of not remembering the next day and doing it all over again at the next wedding.

Zac looks at Lando, then at Oscar, and then back at Lando. “You need to sort this out, stat. I’m not having this –”

“What are you going on about? We’re golden, Oscar and I,” Lando bristles. “Practically besties, aren’t we, Osco?”

Lando knows using his old nickname for Oscar is a low blow, if his expression is anything to go by. But whatever. He’s fed up with this, and he wants Oscar as far away from him as possible, so if it hurts him, good.

Zac is turning red, and his mouth is opening, surely to remind Lando of his place, but Oscar beats him to it. He stands, inclines his head politely in Zac’s direction, and steps directly in front of Lando’s chair. His jaw is set, eyes cold. Lando has never seen him angry, had thought him incapable of it.

“I wasn’t expecting much, but I definitely thought you’d at least grown the fuck up,” he sneers. “Clearly, I was wrong. And for the record, you crashed into me. Thank you, Zac, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

So, he thinks he surprises himself and his sister Hattie and every single person he’s ever interacted with when he says, “I’ll marry you” to Lando Norris one Thursday afternoon in late May.

(He can blame it on George’s and Alex’s pestering, that.)

Lando seems surprised, too, but he recovers quickly.

Oscar, who’s pacing around the room with a confused expression adorning his face. His gorgeous, kissable face. Lando quickly forgets about the stupid fucking game and instead starts to plan his attack. He could launch himself from here, probably. Oscar would catch him. Or. Well. He could also fall flat on his face, and everyone knows that’s like, 78% of his whole charm or whatever. Anyway.

He calculates. Closes one eye. Turns his head sideways. Oscar’s still pacing the room, rummaging through the discarded clothing on the floor; the mess on his bedside table.

Lando rolls his eyes.

“Something missing?”

Stuck With Me

George slid into bed beside me at a quarter to one in the morning, having gone for a few drinks with the boys after they were done in the studio. He always got clingy when he was drunk, and that was definitely showing now. He cuddled up against my back as tightly as he could, wrapping his big arms around me and pulling my close to his chest. He placed a kiss on my neck and I smiled.

I rolled over to look at my boyfriend. “Hey baby, I missed you today.”

“I missed you too Y/N, so much. We got a couple of new tracks recorded today, and the lads send their love.”

His speech was slightly slurred and his eyes were half-closed. I laughed and ran a hand over his bleach blonde buzz cut.

“I have to put up with so much for you boys, and so does Carly. Honestly George, who gets drunk on a Tuesday night?”

“Hard working rockstars, that’s who,” he smirked. “Sorry babe, but you’re stuck with me. You and Carly will be putting up with our shit for the rest of your lives, and we’ll put up with your moodiness every single month.”

“Oi, it’s not our fault our periods synched, mate! It’s actually a fucking nightmare!”

George just laughed and lifted his head, laying it down on my chest.

“I can feel your heart beating,” whispered George into the darkness.

“Good,” I replied. “That means I’m not dead.”

He lifted his head slightly to press a kiss to my collarbone. “I’m glad you’re not, because I’ve just talked about how you’re stuck with me forever and that can’t happen if you die on me.”

“Forever, huh?” I raised one eyebrow.

“Obviously. We’re gonna get married and have little baby Georges and Y/Ns and be the perfect couple forever until we’re really old and we go live in a nursing home and die together.”

“Wow George. Drunk you is a bit weird. How the fuck are we gonna die together?”

“I don’t know, I just feel like it might happen. Like you and Carly being synched up period-wise. But just… with death.”

“Go to sleep, you absolute bullshitter.”

George nuzzled his head further into my chest and I stroked his arm up and down until his breathing evened out, his head rested more heavily on me and I could tell he was asleep. I made a mental note to ask Matty not to send George home drunk on a Tuesday night with his head full of random talk about our deaths when I had work the next morning. I smiled to myself softly, pressing a kiss to George’s head and drifting off to sleep myself.

Flowers for Algernon, Daniel Keyes. I read this way too young, like, elementary school, and it messed me up beyond belief. I've only ever read it the once in elementary, and then again in middle school, but it's peak.

Cast in Shadow, Michelle Sagara. I'd doxx myself if I said why I initially picked it up, but if you like fantasy, I HIGHLY recommend. Messy, loud female ace protagonist in a high fantasy urban book series. Magic and daggers and cool fun characters and lots of drama.

I Love You Forever, Robert Munsch. My mom gave it to me on my first birthday, and I've never once read it and not wept. Never once.

I'm currently reading Throne of Glass for a friend (it's her favorite in the world), and to be quite honest, I'm having the worst time with it.

12- Did you enjoy any compulsory HS readings?

I LOVED Of Mice and Men. (Spoilers I guess) I was so excited to read it, knew absolutely nothing about it, and was like, jumping in my seat when we got it from the library. I sat my freshman ass down as the rest of the class was coming back, opened to the title page, and someone had written in pen on the title page, "George kills Lennie." I was SO MAD, and I couldn't tell ANYONE. My english teacher took one look and laughed his ass off for the rest of the day.

Our boys got engaged in The Blue Neighbourhood verse recently and I've written a little thing about it. (Y'all really didn't think I'd deprive you of this did you?) ((CW for mentions of death)) ((( Really starting to toy with the idea of throwing all of these into a "drabble" fic at the end of TBN series for you all, please let me know if that's something you guys would like.)))

The rings look simple. Silver with a thread of gold through the middle. Rustic, Michelle had called them when she went with Max to pick them up from the jewelers.

They do look rustic, but he knows they're perfect. Charles had assured him that they were perfect and...well, Pierre had said it was morbid, but he had said it gently and non-judgmentally so Max was letting it go.

It's tonight. He's going to ask him tonight and he can't help but pull them out of his desk drawer every few minutes and look at them, run his fingers over them gently.

Daniel is expecting it on New Year's since Max had made a big deal about them leaving their plans open. Of course, Max does have a plan for that, but it's not this.

The only person who knows it's tonight is George (and by extension Alex, but he's not mentioned it so Max is assuming they're doing that respectful thing where they pretend that the other person doesn't know things because of partner privilege or whatever).

Danny pulls up and Daniel can see his smile through the windshield of his Jeep, waving and happy. He's always so so happy to see Max and Max knows that this is right. The place they sat down together and plotted out a way to move to Denver after Max finished school. The place they always go back to even after they moved across town.

"Ya didn't have to wait on me, Maxy." Daniel says, walking over to him, bouncing a little bit to warm himself up - jacket discarded in the car like an idiot.

Max pulls his hand out of his pocket, careful not to jostle the ring box too much, and holds it out to Danny, grasping his hand and bringing it up to press a kiss to his freezing fingertips. "Always waiting on you."

Daniel pulls his hand back, but steps into Max's space, tilting his lips up to kiss him. "But we could have pizza right now instead of still standing on the sidewalk like idiots."

Max huffs, pulling him along and into the warmth of the building. It's a shabby place, booths of cracked plastic and low light due to the stained glass lamps hanging above every table. The place smells like bread and melty cheese and something that can really only be described as burnt, but it's damn good and it's always packed.

Max didn't do anything obvious like call ahead, so they have to stand in the doorway for 20 minutes, turning into each other and laughing every time the door opens and a gush of air whirls in around them. "Fuck, it's cold." Daniel whines, putting his head on Max's shoulder. "And don't say anything about my coat."

Max just wraps one arm around his waist, kissing his head. He loves him. He's going to marry him.

They get a booth in the back room, Max taking his coat off now that they're warm-ish and throwing it into the booth before they sit down. Daniel orders them a pizza and a salad and two coke's and Max feels like he's vibrating out of his skin. He knows Daniel will say yes. Of course, Daniel will say yes.

"You good?" Daniel asks him, head tilted.

Max taps his head and nods. A show that he's just thinking about things. Daniel lets it go and starts to talk instead.

Max should have...done more. He should have made this a whole ordeal with flowers and family. Their salad comes and Daniel starts pushing all the purple onions over to Max's side of the plate while he continues talking and only stops his story to offer Max a paper napkin and a fork.

Daniel smiles at him, teeth on display, "Hey," he whispers, leaning in like they're sharing a secret. "I love you, Maxy. Thanks for suggesting this tonight. I...needed it."

Max...Max dives for his coat, extracting the ring from his pocket as quickly as he can, setting it beside the salad plate, eyes set on Daniel's face as the smile slips away.

"Max -" Daniel says his name firmly.

Max kind of nudges the box towards him and Daniel reaches out for it, hand trembling.

"I cannot believe you -" Daniel picks up the box, popping the lid, staring at the two rings before flicking his gaze up at Max. "I assumed New Year's."

"I know." Max nods.

Max can hear how carefully Daniel is speaking. "This is the place you told me you wanted to move to Denver."

"And now it's the place where I'm asking you to marry me."

Daniel smiles, passing the box back over the table, "Ask me then."

Max clears his throat, making a show of sliding the salad plate out of the way, leaning over the table as far as he can. He picks Daniel's ring up and holds it up. "I'll save the poetry for the wedding vows, but you have to know that it's been you and it'll always be you. Fate might have brought you to me, but you and I keep picking each other and I mean to do that every single day for the rest of my life."

He holds the ring out.

"That's still not a question, Maxy."

Max groans and puts his forehead directly on the table, revelling in the way Danny laughs, but when he sits back up he asks, "Will you marry me, Daniel?"

"You fucking bet I will." Danny says gently, holding his hand out for the ring.

Max is sliding it on when their server tries to bring their pizza and Daniel puts his arms across the table, "Jess, darling." He says. "You need to go put that in a box. We'll be up to pay our check, but this idiot just asked me to marry him and we have to go."

"Danny!" Max laughs, but Daniel shrugs and then he leans all the way over the table and kisses Max breathless.

"I love you forever." He says when he pulls away. "I love you forever."

They don't pay for the pizza (because it turns out getting engaged in a restaurant makes people mushy) and they end up having to part at their cars to drive home even though Danny gets a little teary about it and they eat cold pizza in bites of one or two at a time between the two hours of phone calls they make when they get back to their apartment.

Max had...thought this might go differently. More time to relax into each other, maybe? Less time promising everyone they've ever met that they will not elope and will have a wedding and yes, they love them too.

Daniel is stretched out on his chest, left hands clasped out to the side. Max can see he's staring at them.

He muscles his way into a sitting position - jostling Max nearly to death.

"Ok," he demands, tapping a finger on his ring. "There's something wildly romantic about this. So. Out with it."

Max doesn't know quite how to tell him this - perhaps should have saved it for a wedding ring - should have given Danny time to prepare or say no.

Max picks up Danny's hand from his chest, kissing the ring, chest full of so much love and devotion that he thinks it might actually kill him. "The gold. I got it from Charles."

"From Charles?" Daniel's voice goes high in question.

Max kisses his ring knuckle. "The chain from - the chain from the necklace Jules wore. His mom had it melted down and she gave it to Charles to use for anything he wanted and we -"

Daniel rips his hand away from Max's so he can cover his face, whole body shaking.

Max has to really muscle them around so he can sit up and hold Daniel to his chest. "I just thought...we always say that he's the person who brought you to me so it felt -"

"You're literally the worst, most romantic, awful man that has ever existed and I love you so much."

Max has to bite down on his bottom lip to keep from laughing. "I know, schatzi."

"Who gave you the right?" Daniel heaves, pressing himself into Max as far as he can.

"I think you did actually. When you tried to propose to me in the middle of Arizona."

Daniel starts shaking in laughter now. "I love you so much, oh my god. I planned on sex, but now I'm snotty."

Max cups Daniel's face in his hands, pulling it up so he can look at him. "I love you. I'm so happy, Danny. I'm so happy you just have no idea."

"I do have an idea actually." Danny sniffs. "Ok, there will still be sex. Because you only get engaged once and I'd like that, so to the bedroom, Mr. Verstappen-Ricciardo."

Max's chest clenches, but he's trying to shuffle Daniel back far enough on his knees so he can stand up with him from the couch.

"I was just trying that out, but damn that sounds good. Or should be go Ricciardo-Verstappen? Do you think it matters?"

"Actually," Max clears his throat and then grunts, picking Daniel up. "I was thinking we would just go with...Ricciardo." Daniel unwraps his legs from Max's waist and he drops down to the ground.

It's silent. Max isn't looking at him. Daniel cups his face now, forcing him to look at his face. "I'm going to love you forever." Daniel says it slowly - making sure Max hears each syllable.

Yeah, they're going to do this forever.

The Mosley Review: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Right now in the animation world, there is a lack of heavy themes. Outside of the Pixar mold, even if they've been overly exposed in my opinion, there hasn't been an animated film that delves into the character's thought processes, motivations and or even the very complicated decisions that life throws at your feet everyday. I have missed that type of storytelling in animated films and its about time somebody brought it back to life. The first film in this animated Spider-Verse series was groundbreaking in taking the standard coming of age thematic elements and aging it up with the amount existential questioning and sometimes adult approach. Its what made that film stand out among the rest of the superhero genre. This film continues that excellence in storytelling and takes it to another level for many of the characters. The exploration into the character and idea of a hero is explored to another level and in a way that I haven't seen handled with such care since maybe the Nolan era of the Batman films. The persona of Spider-Man and all the responsibility and sacrifices that comes with it is on display and makes you understand the weight of every decision he, Spider-Gwen and all the other iterations make. The spectacle is even more spectacular in execution and this film elevates what is possible in animation with its unique flare and influences from many other cultures. It may feel a bit crowded at times with the introduction of the Spider Society, but the amazing cast keeps you focused on the main objective of the story.

Hailee Steinfeld returns as Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman / Spider-Gwen and she takes the character to new depths. We get to see her heartbreaking backstory that sets the tone of the entire film. I loved her interactions with her dad, George Stacy, portrayed wonderfully by Shea Whigham. The chemistry between them was amazing, heart shattering and beautiful in so many ways. Her story adds a new perspective and is a cautionary tale about secrets and possibly betraying the trust of those you care about. Shameik Moore returns as Miles Morales / Spider-Man and I loved how he has grown into his own. I loved the fact that he leans more into his Latino side of his heritage and his strong connection to his family. The many levels of balancing a superhero life, a regular life and how it affects his relationships with his parent are at the heart of his story. The chemistry with his parents portrayed once again by Bryan Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Vélez as Jefferson and Rio Morales was electric. The stress and emotional turmoil between them was well done and didn't stray into the standard cheese you see in most films. Their scenes together whether it was Miles and Jefferson or Miles and Rio, were truly the heart and soul of the character and the film. The chemistry between Gwen and Miles has never been stronger and more strained in the best ways possible. Their friendship is tested to heightened level and it makes for a great dramatic beat that most films ignore or handle poorly. We get introduced to some new Spider people and I loved every one of them. Karan Soni was fun and charming as Pavitr Prabhakar / Spider-Man India and I loved the visuals of his world. He was hilarious with his quips and in a short amount of time, you get to see the heart of the character. Daniel Kaluuya was awesome and perfectly rebellious as Hobart "Hobie" Brown / Spider-Punk. I audibly cheered seeing him on screen because I've loved his attitude and anti establishment motivations nature. He represented a new lesson and belief structure that Miles needed in his life. Issa Rae was great as Jessica Drew / Spider-Woman and I loved that even though she is pregnant, she doesn't shy away from the action and her commanding presence is always felt. Jason Schwartzman was excellent as the new antagonist of the film Dr. Jonathan Ohnn / The Spot. A great villain always has a personal connection to the main character and he does in a familiar, but fun way. He begins as a villain of the week type, but his progression into the main threat was done in a fresh and fascinating way. Oscar Issac returns as the fan favorite Miguel O'Hara / Spider-Man 2099 and I loved the direct yet ominous nature of the character. He was inventive and intense in a way that made you question if he is actually a hero or villain. Oscar's portrayal of the characters’ determination to complete his goal was excellent and made for a fascinating character study.

Composer Daniel Pemberton returns and continues to deliver fantastic work that picks up from the first film with familiar and new themes for Gwen Stacy and one that is as chaotic and energetic for Spider-Punk. The modern hip hop infusion with the traditional, emotional and thrilling score was awesome. I loved the darker nature of the score this time and inclusion of many different distortions when dealing with The Spot. The Indian influence and sound was wonderful when we get to Pavitr’s universe. Visually the film continues to dazzle with the same comic book touch the first film had, but evolves it even more. The color palette with Miles is set and established, but the real magic comes from the beautiful water coloring of Gwen's world and how it evokes the vast layers of the emotional spectrum. This film is filled with so many great action set pieces that don't feel exhausting at all. There's so much to take in as you witness the many achievements in animation at work. This was definitely one of the best sequels I've seen in a long time and an excellent new chapter in the Spider-Verse that will definitely be on many best of lists. This is a must see by all Spider fans and there are so many Easter eggs, cameos and its all wrapped in this brilliant story that leaves on an awesome cliffhanger.
