Although, now isn't the time to worry about it. Sienna was right. Lou had a competition to win... Or at least participate in.

Lou: *surprised* Huh? Oh, we met just the other day. She approached me and suggested I compete.

Lou: No... Why?

Sienna: Naila Cabral is only the most decorated rider in the Ridge. She just moved back to compete in the Ultimate Horse Championship. It was a big deal, look...

However, an encounter with a t-rex cuts tonight's excursion short 😬

Training continues for Lou and Thunder as the start of competition season in Chestnut Ridge approaches.

Sienna takes on the role of tour guide as she leads Lou into the barn, explaining the amenities available for competitors, everything Lou would need to know for her first time competing.

It was inevitable that Lou would run into Naila at some point, but seeing her in the barn still caught her off guard. As cryptic as ever, her conversation left Lou with more questions than answers, and she was getting more and more confused by the woman's specific interest in her.

However, Lou wasn't the only one left pondering the odd encounter...

Sienna: Hey, Lou! Glad you made it!

Lou: *laughs nervously* Thank you, but... I'm not so sure if this was a good idea yet.

Sienna: Don't worry, you'll do great. I'll show you around and you'll feel better.

Lou: Okay, then...

[Sienna walks Lou into the barn]

Sienna: Contestants can bring their horses in here to rest and prep for the events.

Supplies like food and water are provided for both horse and rider.

There are events all day so you'll see lots of people comin' and goin' if you stay long enough.

[Naila enters with Rosalind from the side door and approaches Lou and Sienna]

Naila: Good to see you again. So you decided to compete?

Lou: *nervous* I-I did.

Naila: *smiles* Great. I'll be over at the barrel racing ring today, but I look forward to competing with you.

[Naila turns to leave with Rosalind]

I'd better saddle up Rosalind here. See you 'round.

Lou: See you...

Sienna: *looks back and forth between them*

Why don't we move on to the tack room?

Lou: Alright.

Winterfest dinner was a little more chaotic because everyone refused to sit at the table but at least Lou (*cough* me) remembered to pour some of her homemade Nectar 😉

Lou and Thunder arrive on the fairgrounds to find it already bustling with spectators, eager to see the year's competitors, or just to enjoy the food stalls provided on the lot. It's early in the day, but the heat is sweltering, and the sun fierce as it floods the open field.

Only now, as she looks out on the people already gathering by the arenas, does Lou realize exactly what she's gotten herself into...

Lou's other guests manifested back to the party in time to decorate the tree because it's fun to do it as a group and definitely not because I forgot to do it ahead of time 😅

Meanwhile, there were many adorable moments with the mini animals, including a rare moment where Lorenz allowed Lou to give them a hug, and Neighsayer seeming to decide that Aries is his favorite. 😊
