DORO PESCH Receives Gold Record For 'Force Majeure' Solo Debut
"Force Majeure" was the starting signal for Doro Pesch's groundbreaking solo career as the female hard rock / heavy metal icon par excellence.
The metal queen had already paved the way for Doro's future as the frontwoman of the internationally successful band WARLOCK, with whom she became the first woman to conquer the stage at the legendary Monsters Of Rock festival in 1986 and then immediately embarked on her first major tour with JUDAS PRIEST.
Numerous awards and accolades speak for themselves: in the United States, she was inducted into the Hall Of Heavy Metal History and honored with the Metal Goddess Legend Award in Las Vegas. In England, Doro earned the Legend and Angel Of Rock awards. In Germany, she received the Echo, among others, and was honored several times for her life's work.
Now she can call another award her own as part of her extensive collection. At the German Universal Music office in Berlin, the metal queen was presented with a gold award for selling more than 250,000 copies of "Force Majeure".
Former Phonogram label boss Louis Spillmann and her former product manager Bettina Spillmann were special surprise guests at the event. Also present: Doro's manager Holger Koch (Flying Dolphin Entertainment),her social media manager Jan Jaedike, and Doro's Universal catalog domestic team.
In her 40-year career, Doro has performed over 3,500 concerts in over 60 countries. She has sold over 10 million records to date and has been able to win over legendary fellow musicians such as Gene Simmons (KISS),Lemmy Kilmister (MOTÖRHEAD),Slash (GUNS N' ROSES),Peter Steele (TYPE O NEGATIVE) and most recently Rob Halford (JUDAS PRIEST) for her albums.
Pesch says: "I am overwhelmed and very happy. My big thanks go to my beloved fans worldwide and the great team. On to further deeds."
Holger Koch (business management, Flying Dolphin Entertainment) states: "It is a great honor to have been able to accompany Doro's worldwide career for over 20 years. Polygram and Universal have supported Doro with great commitment and trust at the crucial time and are still a very important partner today, as the chart entry shortly before Christmas 2024 has shown once again. Many thanks to Thomas and his team — we are very much looking forward to the upcoming collaboration on Doro's catalog."
Thomas Thyssen (director catalogue domestic, Universal Music) says: "Doro is not only a pioneer and luminary of international female-fronted metal in personal union, but — much more importantly — as busy as ever to this day. So it was all the better that we were able to find a gap in her busy schedule to present her, long overdue, with gold for 'Force Majeure' and surprise her with two unannounced special guests. Thank you very much, Doro and Holger. We are immensely looking forward to working together again."

I’m not as happy with this as the Keelin one, but it’s something. I couldn’t mix the colours of the actual gif because it kept freezing and getting corrupt. One day I’ll make a pure red Vlad moodboard ~
Also I gave him a yellow eye in the board even though this one is more focused on his normal form than his vampire form. OH WELL!

So First the FESTIVAL, I see a lot of people asking where The F*ck the Festival would take place?? Don’t worry here’s the answer
The Festival is going to be in el RECINTO VALDEBEBAS-IFEMA!!! This year is gonna be bigger than others and IT’S AN OPEN VENUE!!!!
As you can see It’s a little far away from the centre so my recommendation for you is to stay NEAR THE CENTRE, we have really good connections to the Festival so don’t worry (transport would be my next point)
Others festivals take place in the same venue, here some pics of last year Mad Cool Festival, I think the Coca-Cola Festival will look something like this:
TRANSPORT
Madrid has good connections so PUBLIC TRANSPORT is your Friend!!!
First METRO MADRID (The Tube) Line 8 have a stop in the festival called “FERIA DE MADRID”
You’ll have to go to the station called “NUEVOS MINISTERIOS” and there take LINE 8
Don’t Forget!! Your Stop is FERIA DE MADRID!!!
And When The Tube Closed???? You’ll have time!! Metro Madrid opens at 6.00 am and closed at 1.30 am
What type of ticket I’ll need? You’ll need a card “Tarjeta Multi” it’s rechargeable!! you could use it for the tube, the bus, train. It looks like this:
You can buy it in the automatic machines in every metro station!! and it cost 2.50 euros
You can put in there: single tickets, 10 travels tickets or TOURISTIC TICKETS (best option for you I think: YOU WILL NEED A TICKET FOR ZONE 1 Only AND ONE DAY COSTS 8.40 euros, TWO DAYS = 14.20 euros, THREE DAYS= 18.40 euros... the max is seven days)
IMPORTANT: THE AIRPORT SUPPLEMENT IS INCLUDED IN THE TOURISTIC TICKETS!!!
Other transports.-
CERCANIAS (TRAIN):
Línea C1: Príncipe Pío – Aeropuerto T4. STOP VALDEBEBAS.
Línea C10: Villalba – Aeropuerto T4. STOP VALDEBEBAS.

Well. That only took two months.
Subbing notes
One day I’m going to meet the writers of this show, and when I do I’m going to hit them over the head with a Latin dictionary.
You can probably spot exactly where I gave up on trying to turn their spells into anything comprehensible and just went with whatever sounded kind of like what they were saying. No Dutch subtitles exist for this movie (another major oversight for far more important reasons than just my attempts at subbing), so I had nothing to fall back on.
I made a very earnest effort to write out every instance of 77 as seventy-seven and then had to give up on it because the full word took up too much space.
Most of Nemezza’s lines are in rhyme. In order to keep that rhyme, I’ve opted for a less literal translation. I believe I was able to maintain the original meaning for the most part.
I unfortunately wasn’t able to translate the bloopers. I tried, but too many of them rely on mispronunciations that don’t make any sense in a language that isn’t Dutch. It’s a pity, because they are hilarious.
Movie notes
I first saw this movie in theatres and was tempted to get out a notebook and take notes while watching. The movie’s greatest value (to me personally, as a dedicated fanfic writer) is the lore it provides. It gives us more info on the previous Night Watch, on the structure of the Council and in particular on Vlad’s backstory.
(Fun fact, Vlad’s father is played by Peter Thyssen, Louis Thyssen’s real-life father.)
As an actual movie, it’s… okay. It’s enjoyable, there are no major glaring plot holes and the character bits are quite good. I’ve always enjoyed Nachtwacht more for its characters than for its plots and the movie is no exception. Honestly, I wouldn’t have minded if they dwelled a lot longer on the interpersonal relationships. Is it any wonder that (spoilers!) the scene where Wilko and Keelin quit in protest of Vlad’s dismissal is my favourite scene in the entire movie?
It doesn’t quite measure up to some of the show’s best episodes, but it’s certainly far from the worst this show has ever put out.
The new characters introduced are a mixed bunch. On the villain front, Nemezza is your typical villain, complete with obligatory eternal darkness. Renvie is… there.
On the hero front, Vlad’s father is enjoyable if only for the in-joke potential he brings. His motivations are easy to sympathise with, even if they are ultimately borne from underestimating just how capable Vlad is.
Gideon… I want to like Gideon, I really do. He certainly had some character development throughout the movie. However, I fear that I’ve never quite forgiven him for his way of introducing himself (and the blame the writing puts on Wilko for attacking him, even when he’s just knocked Cooper unconscious).
And then there’s Juno. Vega says Keelin ‘reminds [him] so much of her’ and it’s no wonder because they are exactly the fucking same. The movie makes no distinction between elves and fae: they are both magic users, their personalities are near-identical, they both serve the exact same function within their respective groups… This show’s treatment of Keelin has been a thorn in my side for a while now. When they can’t even bother to make her any different from the Obligatory Girl in the previous Watch, I’m taking issue. Get your act together.
And last and kind of least, the president is also… there. Participation trophy, I guess.
With that episode of Heleen Salts ™ out of the way, some miscellaneous observations:
- You better believe I’ll be using the telepathy they introduced in this movie in everything I ever write from now on.
- Helena plays Cooper like a fiddle and it is glorious. OTP right there.
- Cooper and Wilko continue to have one of my favourite character dynamics in this entire series.
- Keelin, my darling, my dear, when someone gets knocked unconscious by white magic they aren’t any less unconscious than if it had been black magic. Sometimes intentions don’t matter nearly as much as outcomes. (Also don't trust random voices in your head. I can’t believe I have to say that.)
- How is it that they can’t transform when they are in Nemezza’s castle? If magic doesn’t work there, the opposite should be true; their human forms are essentially a glamour and their monster forms are the ‘real’ them.
- The scene where everyone leaves still breaks my heart every time I watch it. In general, the trio are at their best when they’re together.
Seriously, for all my complaining, it’s a fun movie. Watch it for the characters if nothing else.

Martin Schaffner (b.1478-d.1548), 'Portrait of a Man, possibly Sebastian Gessler', oil on panel, c.1515, German, currently in the collection of the Museo Nacional Thyssen Bornemisza, Madrid, Spain.
Martin Schaffner, an artist associated with the city of Ulm, developed a style that combined late Gothic formulas with Renaissance elements. Little is known of his early years and the date of his birth is known from an annotation by the artist on one of his drawings. In 1496 he is documented in the workshop of Jörg Stocker in Ulm, and around 1500 in Augsburg where he trained with Hans Holbein the Elder. Most of Schaffner’s oeuvre comprised altarpieces and he was significantly affected by the Reformation. Like many other artists, this situation led him to rethink his output and he subsequently placed greater emphasis on portraiture. This small panel was in the collection of Count Josef von Rechberg and is then recorded in the collection of Prince Oettingen-Wallerstein where it appears in two inventories of 1817/1818 and 1819, described as by the school of Schaffner. In 1828 it was in the castle in Nuremberg in the possession of Louis I of Bavaria. In 1911 it was in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich and in 1929 in Berlin with the Hugo Perls gallery. It was acquired that year for the Rohoncz collection. This person was identified in early catalogues of the Collection from 1930 onwards as the mathematician Peter Appianus, with a question mark after the name. It seems that this name was assigned without any documentary basis, and therefore in 1969 Christian Salm published it simply as Portrait of a Man. The Thyssen painting appears to be the companion piece to the Portrait of a Lady in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, whom the historian Jens Kremb has identified as Katharina Gessler (née Gienger) and, accordingly, the subject of this painting as her first husband Sebastian Gessler. The coat-of-arms in blue and white on the sitter’s right index finger remains unidentified but both his appearance and clothing suggest a member of the aristocracy or wealthy bourgeoisie. The figure is depicted in slightly more than threequarters profile against a graduated green-blue background which is almost black at the upper edge. The head is strikingly pale in tonality, allowing the artist to create a face with precisely modeled details but without an excess of detail, clearly defining the outline of the nose and the wide, thin-lipped mouth. Areas of underdrawing are evident to the naked eye in zones such as the left side of the forehead, the eye sockets and the neck. The sitter is plainly dressed apart from the broad fur collar of the coat while he wears a type of hat fashionable in the early 16th century. With regard to its date, this oil on panel has been compared to two others: Count Wolfgang I von Oettingen in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, of 1508, which is the earliest portrait attributed to Schaffner, and another of 1516 of Eitel Besserer, a member of a patrician family in Ulm, now in the Museum in Ulm. Lübbeke considered the present work to be closer to the portrait of Besserer and to a group of panels with scenes of the Passion in the Staatsgalerie in Augsburg. - Mar Borobia (x)
