WDBHG Lyric Change Masterpost

I have been wanting to dig deep into this for a while now but after seeing Louis live (phew, what even was that! I am starstruck and speechless even now) this definitely needs a masterpost. So buckle in! Louis has been making a lyric change in the first verse of WDBHG for quite some time now (copying this part from @fookinhellcurlyyy's post. )

Original 1st and 2nd Verse:

Louis' Version of the 1st and 2nd Verse:

The original lyrics indicate him letting go of his lover, whereas Louis' version drops that idea. Although we earlier attributed it to him just forgetting lyrics, he has been making the same lyric change consistently for that to not be the case. He seems to have started making this change sometime in 2024; and the earliest instance I could find was at FEQW, Mexico City. Now, Louis has some lyrics taped onto the stage, and we figured out that they must be 1D lyrics. For example, in the FEQW video, it is clear that he is looking at the lyrics of WDBHG. At Lollapalooza Mumbai as well, he was reading off of it while he told the crowd he can't see the lyrics, the little punk. Anyways, we stayed back after the concert for the setlist, and although I couldn't get that, we found that the lyrics taped onto stage are those of WDBHG. Although he performed DMD and Night Changes as well, this was what was taped onto the stage. I got a picture of the lyrics of WDBHG lyrics: Exhibit A:

He has the right lyrics printed, and he reads off it, and yet he chooses to make the change. So it is clear that it is a deliberate change, and not simply a case of Louis forgetting lyrics. The change is also consistent (almost as if Louis doesn't want to imply that he let go of his lover).

sorry to people following me i am going to make louis in india my entire personality because this is truly so monumental and huge. never in my wildest dreams did i see this happening. i was 11 when i found 1d and even as i sang along to them i didn't think that there'd ever come a day where any of them would come to india. it felt so far fetched, nigh on impossible and it truly doesn't surprise me that it's louis who's taken that first step. it amazes me how much he cares and how he's constantly wanting to give back to the fans and maintain this amazing connection he has with us. he's currently one of the most inclusive artists in terms of how much he does for the fans, be it doing online shows or livestreams or making shows in new countries happen. if i were to go back in time and tell my 11 year old self that 14 years later louis would be performing in india and she would be in the crowd, i know she would never believe me. i know that right now i can't believe it either, but gods does this make me love louis so much more all the time. as he so eloquently said, "the friends we make, the love it takes, it's worth, it's worth, it's worth the pain; the friends we make, the love it takes, it's worth, it's worth, it's worth it all this time" 💖

This made my day after being sad and upset about not getting to see Lou perform in my country, in MY CITY, the festival being 30 min drive away from my home..

both of the interviews i watched of louis in india were so sweet and wholesome like it really was such a breath of fresh air watching him being respected by the interviewers being asked solely about the music and some genuine interesting questions not fucking stupid dating questions or questions he literally can’t fucking answer. he deserves to experience more of this tbh.

Still can't believe I Watched Louis live only about 5 rows behind barricade - and unfortunately the 3 videos I remembered to take suck - But I just wanted to come here and say that this setlist is fucking genius

Because you start with The Greatest when you're shaking and crying, move on to Kill My Mind to solidify that what this man does to your body is not logical, then Drag Me Down to reflect on how his music willed you to stay standing through so much shit.

Now your energy might be waning and your voice getting hoarse so Face the Music comes up to remind you to be everything, feel everything in the next hour. We made it to reflect on the years and hours that led to this moment. By now every single lyric has an image attached to it and you're finally take stock - realize you've been shaking and crying, try to ground your feet in the present moment. Night Changes, that doesn't work. You're wearing red today ofc and you think about the first time you watched a One Direction Video and noticed his voice and smile - now he's here!? in the city you grew up in and you're bawling again in time for Walls which is kinda perfect.

You regulate to try to understand what he's saying and when he comes back with Written all over your face it's party time! His performance of Saturdays shuts out the crowd and brings his beautiful voice back into focus. Uff the melodies, the imagery, AND ALL THE FEELS.

Here in this pit clearly and Silver Tongues is the perfect closer, getting the crowd to scream 'I don't feel like Going Home' at the end of a set before you jump into the crowd moving as one, hands all over your face chest neck waist is so diabolical/hot. Tonight was always going to be special but nothing could have prepared me for the way louis thanked us over and over again. From telling us I told you so (what a louis thing to say, lol), to being nervous that not many people showed up, to be being blown away by the support, I’m just glad I didn’t dissolve into tears until after the show. Would not have wanted to miss the way he was actual sunshine on stage today. I’m so glad he got to feel all the love we’ve only shown a fraction of.

And to end with watching green day, I was so proud of him.
