art rambles! This is my first time actually trying digital painting and... it took. So Long. I'm extraordinarily pleased by the results so it was worth it but dang. I traced and modified a vector of the LotRMovie! Witch King's crown to reference for hers, and I'm quite happy with it, I think it's suitably ominous. The necklace was a last-minute addition but I love it. Zoom in on the chain links specifically, they're little eyes! Also her actual eyes- they're very detailed and I'm proud of them.

Her ears are a little more pointy-looking than I intended but I don't really mind. Call it a Numenorian thing. I was using my own face for reference and lighting and ended up exaggerating them a little as I was changing other features. Also, it's very funny to me that I can still see the unintentional resemblance between us, even after doing my best to change it. I think it's the face shape mostly, but it's a good thing to keep in mind for future endeavors: get more references!

Finding a half-decent Black Speech translation of the whole ring poem was both easier and harder than I expected. The tengwar was a pain to format but I'm okay with it. Tecendil is my savior- they even have different fonts! I used Annatar Italic, of course :)

You know there is a fan theory that since hobbit!Legolas is behaving and looking so different from lotrmovie!Legolas (who in turn is different enough from book!Legolas that I almost gets ulcers) that hobbit!Legolas is actually lotrmovie! Legolas older, more unplesant brother XD

That theory makes me snicker in public spaces; I love it. :D :D

But “ulcers” is right. I watched Fellowship, then read the whole trilogy, then watched the other two movies, and... uhhh. That was an interesting journey. I remember when I read the book being surprised that Frodo, Merry, Pippin, and Gimli were, like, actual characters! With actual personalities! *faints in shock*

...And then I watched Two Towers, and it just got worse.

I still haven’t seen the Hobbit movies. I refuse to watch them on principle. But I’ve been in fandom long enough that I know all I need to know.

I relied heavily on Ralph Bakshi for this design and boy did it take me a couple of attempts to colour it. Still feel I’m missing some tonality. But this is my meme. You know when you’re at the very start of your epic quest and you’ve no idea how traumatic it’s going to be?
