Everytime that I remember Boromir's horn of Gondor made even the Balrog pause, I get so sad. Boromir was brave and valiant. His downfall was his care. He wanted the power to protect his people. That and pressures from his father made him fall to the ring's powers, despite his best efforts. He haunts the narrative and it hurts my soul.

Sometimes I randomly remember that Boromir only went to Rivendell in the first place because the road there from Gondor was full of perils and he didn’t want his beloved little brother to walk that dangerous path so he took the task upon himself like he took every task upon himself to spare Faramir and I just break down.

thinking about “my brother, my captain, my king” and i know realistically it’s meant to be a brothers in arms thing but consider boromir and aragorn actually forming a brotherly relationship in the time that they knew each other

then later when he meets faramir he’s like “welp, your my little brother now” and obviously not replacing boromir, but forming their own kind of brotherly relationship, supporting each other, being there for each other, teasing the fuck out of each other and never giving the other a moment of peace, like siblings do
