mashed these together for my own enjoyment but if anyone was wondering what i was yammering about here re: composition technique in the final chorus transitions of myself & lost in the dream & wants to hear them back to back for easier comparison ! original post below —

learned today that one of the composers for mx’s myself (hyuk shin) also co-composed lost in the dream, which perhaps explains some of my newly obsessive love for it, but more importantly reminded me that one of the first things i noticed (& loved) about myself is the transition from the bridge into the final chorus & the way the bass/lower end of the accompaniment drops out of the first 2 beats in the chorus and returns on beat 3, & at that time it reminded me of lost in the dream because it happens there too. effective delay of the impact, not everything needs to land on 1 ♡

i have also prattled on about a similar effect here for ateez’s new world, although the sense of downbeat displacement is a lot more powerful in that example because the vocal line doesn’t continue across beats 1&2

longer review:

i was enjoying this album for maybe 3-4 tracks, and then i realized all the songs sound the same. add that to their meandering sound, i honestly grew drowsy while listening to their music and not in a good way. wish i could have enjoyed it more :(

red templars are in control of the gallows; it's hard to tell what's going on in the city itself, but with varric absent it might be left with no viscount again

there's an elven graveyard on sundermount where ancient elves entered uthenera; it is also possibly dedicated/related to mythal

there was also a demon contained in an idol on top of sundermount who supposedly possessed a great knowledge about arlathan and eluvians

the veil in kirkwall has always been remarkably thin and tevinter magisters were weakening it on purpose during their reign; the whole city was built as an enormous blood magic ritual site

if the veilguard squad is going to travel through the eluvians there's still one in kirkwall. the one that has been plot-relevant since dao
