OLD RUINS • Fascinating tragedy
OLD RUINS can be rightly classified as BLACK METAL, whereby the resourceful German formation has created its own, very individual style with many influences from the areas of Heavy, Doom and Melodic Metal and is thus a very appreciated term to a large part of the underground scene already since their first demos on YouTube.
OLD RUINS also made first plans for their stage debut, but the Lord Of Destruction had other plans and brought the world a pandemic. However, OLD RUINS were not discouraged by this and began in August 2020 with the recordings of the completely convincing 6-track debut EP „Old Ruins“, which physically and digitally passed the gates of hell on November 06, 2020 and brought darkness from the heart of the Ruhr area over Tristram.

On September 15, 2023, OLD RUINS will release their first long-player entitled „Always Heading East“ on Doc Gator, with which the record company proves exquisite taste.

OLD RUINS was founded in 2019 and was initially supposed to be a pure studio project of drummer Alexander Czernik and singer/lead guitarist Christian Krajewski. But the thus only really hungry players quickly developed a damn dark, very atmospheric sound, which is still not easy to categorize and which remains not least because of this permanently as fascinating as exciting and wear-free. Inspired by their ingenious concept, they completed the line-up with Oliver Krajewski on bass and Ersin Kara on guitar. About their debut album „Always Heading East“ the conspiratorial gloomy souls say:

“The lyrics lyrically refer to the video game classic ‚Diablo‘ from Blizzard. The dark atmosphere of the game has always fascinated us immensely. Whether the tragic story without any happy ending, or the neglected (sound)worlds on ‚Always Heading East‘ were the main inspiration is hard to say today“, but „when you close your eyes and put the record on, you really dive into the mystical story of the dark wanderer“, Christian Krajewski raves fervently, adding: „If you’re not versed in the history of the video game, you can still immerse yourself in the dark musical world of the album and enjoy the soothingly atmospheric Black Metal sound. „
Where Iron Maiden have to deal with only one beast, the brave warriors of OLD RUINS are exposed to numerous spawns of hell. Face to face they bravely take on MEPHISTO the Lord Of Hate, LILITH – Daughter Of Mephisto and Queen Of The Succubi, TATHAMET The Seven-headed Dragon and BAAL The Lord Of Destruction.
Follow these exceptionally talented German top artists on their new adventures in „Always Heading East“ and dive into a dark, atmospheric sound experience of a very special kind – inspired by the legendary world of Diablo! MEDIA FEEDBACK:
10 / 10 ➤ „… explosive mixture … epic … melancholic … great melodies … predominantly midtempo … the vocals put the crown on the whole thing …“ (Bleeding4Metal)
9,5 / 10 ➤ „OLD RUINS deliver a tour de force on their full-length debut, combining the raw frenzy of Black Metal with exquisite melodies and riffs from Heavy and Epic Metal. This album is by no means just a homage to a cult game, but skillfully forged black stainless steel!“ (Soundmagnet)
9 / 10 ➤ „… a dark, atmospheric album, coupled with influences from Death Metal and doom, as well as from classic Heavy Metal … anyone who likes dark and atmospheric Black Metal should definitely risk an ear here …“ (Moshpit Passion)
8,7 / 10 ➤ „… an album rich in detail, full of subtleties … multi-layered in its orientation, but still at home in melodic Black Metal. A promising newcomer, of whom you certainly haven’t heard the last … my insider tip for this month. Strong.“ (Zephyr’s Odem)
8,5 / 10 ➤ „… a heavyweight … jewel …“ (Saitenkult)
8,5 / 10 ➤ „… Krajewski’s harsh vocals are typical for the genre, but his fine guitar leads and harmonies are worthy of any Epic Metal combo and have nothing to do with some blind bludgeoning from the Black Metal mud corner. By the way, this also applies to the production …“ (Obliveon)
8,5 / 10 ➤ „This is how Melodic Black Metal must be. Here, a black dripping atmosphere is conjured out of the hat … falling for the melancholy of the black vocals … strong riffing, which could almost be classified as heavy metal … this Black’n’Heavy mixture is a great mood, doesn’t let boredom arise and immediately runs into the auditory canals to burn itself there …“ (Hellfire)
8 / 10 ➤ „… very great sounding atmospheric and melodic mixture of Black, Death, Doom and Heavy Metal …“ (A Different Shade Of Black Metal)
8 / 10 ➤ „Rounded off by an oldschool but nevertheless tidy and powerful production that should satisfy purists as well as friends of modern Metal productions. Let’s hope that the Ruhr area formation will follow this promising starting signal with many more releases, because here we could have a very exciting new entry in the black metal lexicon. And in such a hopelessly overrun genre, this fact alone is a small accolade!“ (Powermetal DE)
8 / 10 ➤ „… epic sound that lies somewhere between late-80s Bathory, mid-range Immortal, early In Flames and Dissection … while not missing out on great melodies and clear references to classic Heavy Metal … melancholy and epicness are the two cornerstones …“ (Metal DE)
8 / 10 ➤ „… works excellently over the entire playing time … varied, full of strong melodic arcs … with numerous, successful epic moments … the so-called Gothenburg sound as well as Doom and Death Metal are also cleverly integrated … appealing level … the production is quite powerful and relatively modern, more like a Power Metal record … all kinds of subtleties make this album a feast for the ears …“ (Neckbreaker)
12 / 15 ➤ „… should convince not only the quality-conscious Black- but also the inclined Epic-Metaller …“ (Legacy Magazin)
7,5 / 10 ➤ „… score with a proper Heavy Metal attitude … spirit meets melancholy and finds a nice balance … the songs are varied, but always have their own style and sound homogeneous … everything sounds like from one cast … interesting and detailed, without overwhelming … comparisons to Alcest, but also newer Tribulation spontaneously come to mind …“ (Crossfire Webzine)
3,7 / 5 ➤ „… sounds like dark big battles … besides genre-typical jangling and tremolo riffs there is also a good portion of Power, Thrash and Death Metal … partly almost traditional metal underpinnings. That makes mood. The sound is also not cold and clanking, but quite dense and fat … a plus of atmosphere even reminds something of the Irish Primordial … quite surprising …“ (Handwritten Mag)
7 / 10 ➤ „It almost feels like there is a hidden meaning underneath the surface of Christian Krajewski’s vocals with a fresh emotive quality rising to the surface from the black depths, something which works very well … despite being shrouded in a cloak of darker atmospheres there is a real sense of epic majesty …“ (Metal Noise)
7 / 10 ➤ „… a heavy reliance on melody … not afraid to measure themselves with less explosive but still rocky dynamics … great passion of the musicians involved …“ (Heavy Metal Webzine IT)
➤ „OLD RUINS do a lot of things right on their debut ‚Always Heading East‘, above all they know how to create an atmosphere that sweeps the listener along and where it doesn’t matter if you know the source of inspiration or set off ignorantly down the dark paths to Tristram. Black/heavy/doom metal that isn’t hard to digest and is fun to listen to.“ (Breakout)
➤ „… they master a broader spectrum of Metal music … sounds sharp and does not have the atmosphere that the representatives of the genre usually aim for … compositionally it is also quite edgy, but this is due to the organisational talent that seems to generally characterise these creators … the melodic moments are pronounced … carry something distinctive …“ (Flight Of Pegasus)
➤ „In many ways, the album hits those emotions that grab you, consume you and at the same time are delivered so (almost) elegantly that you just want more all the time … there are elements of several branches of Metal, but imagine some of the early In Flames, a little Children Of Bodom, a little Arch Enemy and then add a little Tribulation and mix it well together, and you have the sound of OLD RUINS – presented here on a really good album that will surely appeal to many.“ (Rancor Metalzine)
➤ „A crushing Heavy/Post Black Metal album. It’s heavy. It hits hard. At the same time, it’s also beautiful and soaring high with its elegant moments that can touch your very soul. A moving record while being brutal with a high-dynamic sound.“ (Noisewriter)
➤ „Dissection/(early) In Flames/Dark Tranquillity meets Epic Heavy Metal in all its powerful, enthralling, captivating glory. High Heavens, Burning Hells!“ (KMäNriffs)
➤ „… much to love about this … heavy, but often not blistering, with headbanging beats and hypnotic riffs … the subtle Black Metal influence is there, without OLD RUINS having to rely on it much, creating a unique sound … great …“ (Wanna Hear a Great Song Today?)
➤ „… clear recommendation … melodic guitar harmonies … OLD RUINS are clever songwriters and change tempo and mood in pretty much all tracks again and again, so that no boredom arises … really strong album, somewhere between Black and Heavy Metal, whereby the latter clearly predominates … is really fun … I had not expected otherwise after the great EP …“ (Vampster)
➤ „… very atmospheric … influences from Melodic Metal clearly recognisable … slight doom influences that give the songs more depth and balance, making them even more accessible than they already are … perfectly staged and also produced … professionals at work …“ (Metalglory)
➤ „… imagine some early In Flames, some Children Of Bodom, some Arch Enemy and then add a little Tribulation and mix it all together well, presented on a really good album that I’m sure many will enjoy.“ (Metaltone DK) etc.

Doc Gator Records nehmen Old Ruins unter Vertrag - Album erscheint im September
Tumblr media
Mit dem Satz "This is just a taste of things to come ..." kündigten wir das Signing der Gelsenkirchener Black Metal-Formation OLD RUINS an, deren lyrische Ausrichtung auf dem Kult-Videospiel Diablo basiert. Tracklisting: 1. The Dark Wanderer 2. Tristram 3. The Desert Sands 4. Risen From The Grave 5. The Fallen Temple 6. Mephisto 7. Lord Of Hell 8. Sescheron Line Up: Christian Krajewski (Vocals/Lead Guitar) Ersin Kara (Guitar) Oliver Krajewski (Bass) Alexander Czernik (Drums) Online - Old Ruins @ Facebook - Doc Gator Records @ Facebook - Doc Gator Records Website Lesen Sie den ganzen Artikel

The Garden at the End of the World
 The twilight wandered.
The gardener ran their fingers through the soft earth of the flowerbed, kneaded the moist dirt between thumb and pointing finger. Fertile soil, not dried and dead, filled with potential and ready to birth new life.
A basket of woven branches sat next to them, inside of it a number of cloth bags each filled to the brim with flower seeds from the fields of Goldenshire and saplings of fey trees from the Gleaming Wilds and from many other places around the world. There were seeds of rose and apple, of lilies and ebony, of palm trees and mammoth plants and hundreds more. Of every plant that a name was whispered, there existed saplings in that basket.
The gardener reached inside and lifted one of the fey saplings out of the basket. It was a small thing in a small pot of painted clay, with pale skin and roots as thin as hair. Sickly, with only a few red and blue patterned leaves that hung limpidly from tiny branches. With one hand clutching the pot, the gardener began to dig a small hole in the flowerbed.
The twilight wandered.
A hum escaped their lips, a simple melody that bounced up and down through the fields and tried to fill the calm, hollow air of the garden. It achieved only the opposite effect.
The lone gardener filled the fissures in the earth and swept away the last few loose crumbs of dirt. Then they sat back, straightened their form and looked down at the tiny sapling twisting its branches up into the sunless sky.
“Your time will come soon. You will be part of something beautiful.” The gardener ran their fingers across the thin, red-blue leaves and their smile grew melancholic for but a moment. “Just not yet.”
The lone gardener stood and picked up the basket with its seeds and saplings and left the lone fey treeling to grow.
There was a sword. Tall, lonely and beautiful in its asymmetry. A broken cross guard and chipped blade, bronze, disc-shaped ornaments sealed across its hilt, a thousand nicked scars running across its edge. It was as old as the gardener themself and never once had it been used. With every year that passed, its edge lost another one of its many nicks. It leaned patiently against a section of low drystone wall that rose near a well-trodden footpath through the garden.
“Hello, old friend.” The gardener's face lit up at the sight of the weapon. They stopped in their tracks and picked the sword up by the nicked blade. “I'm sorry you had to wait so long. Want to take a look at the persimmon with me?”
Their finger swept across the false edge. To an outsider, the sword seemed to have been forged for someone who was far taller than the gardener, yet they swung the sword across their shoulder as if it weighted no more than a feather. There. Now they felt complete again. The gardener didn't like leaving his only friend's side.
The twilight wandered.
The garden was as immeasurable as it was limited in its size and blaze of colours. Cherry and apple trees rose in all their white-blossom glory over indigo-blue meadows and tiny fir tree groves cast long shadows over gorse and sprawling blackberry bushes. Grey dry stone walls and wooden benches dotted the old footpaths that criss-crossed throughout the garden. Scenic creeks and picturesque ponds glinted in the twilight like puddles of red gold.
In the centre of the garden there stood a hill and on its cusp there grew a pitch-black tree. Its bark was wrinkled like old skin and riddled with knot-like growths. Its crown carried thirteen branches that stretched like hungering tendrils towards the empty sky. The tree did not carry leaves, thorns, thistles, fruits or blossoms, only bright, pale-gleaming stars.
The tree was as old as the gardener and the sword. One day, when the time was right, it would bear a single fruit.
There was no shelter, no hovel or hut, as the gardener did not have to fear any wild animals. There was no sun and no moon, for the gardener did not need to sleep nor cared for the passage of time.
The persimmons weren't looking good. None of the branches bore fruit, the roots had gained a sickly yellow colour, the leaves were shrivelled and dark. Around them, the soil itself had dried and greyed. The gardener brushed the palm of their hand across the brittle bark, then they shook their head and sighed.
“Too much acid in the soil,” they said to no one. “They couldn't make it.”
The gardener planted their sword in the earth and flames consumed the trees, leaving behind only fertile ash.
The twilight wandered.
The gardener planted new persimmon trees in the ash of the dead.
The twilight wandered.
Finished with their work, the gardener washed themselves in a near pond. Dirt and grime had settled deep in their hair and between their claws, and they had to scrub with all their might to get even the last speck out from between the ear and the horns. When they were done, they shook themselves with relish like a dog. Then it was the sword's turn. Another blemish had disappeared from its blade.
The twilight wandered.
The gardener sat cross-legged at the shores of the pond, the sword across their lap. The long cloak of rough fur and black feathers lay in a crumpled heap next to them. On top of it throned the basket made from woven branches.
The gardener looked down at the surface of the waters. Three eyes glinted back, framed by matted pitch-black hair and growing horns. They poked their tongue out at it and laughed.
The twilight wandered.
On the way back, the gardener plucked an armful of apricots from a low-hanging branch. Loaded with sword, cloak, basket and fruits, they made to climb the hill at the centre of the garden. They balanced across the twisted roots of the pitch-black tree with outstretched arms, hopped from one root to the next, as if they were stepping stones in a roaring river. Finally, they arrived at their favourite spot. A broad, smooth root that arced like a bridge into the air, just right under the pale light of the star-bearing crown.
The gardener set the basket full of seeds and saplings aside in the grass beneath. They let their legs dangle from atop the cresting root, the sword leaning against their shoulder. From up here, they could see across the entirety of the garden, all the way to the distant slopes of the dome that closed around the gardener's home, blurred in the twilight. The gardener bit into an apricot. Juicy, sour-sweet. The gardener had looked forward to enjoying some persimmons, but they liked apricots all the same.
The twilight wandered.
Above him, one of the many star lights that hung in the black tree's crown was snuffed. One day, they would all cease to be and then their time had come. When the last light on the last of the thirteen branches of the tree went out, then the tree would bear a single fruit for the gardener. And then their sword would lose its last notch and it would gleam like a thousand suns.
They would eat of the fruit and the egg that held the garden would shatter.
And then they would kill the world. And something new would be born from the ashes. Something beautiful.
The gardener wished they could be there to witness what the new world would look like. But it wasn't time just yet. For now, all thirteen branches of the tree still were ablaze with stars. The gardener tossed the stone of the apricot down the hillside.
The twilight wandered.
Down below in the garden, a sapling with red and blue patterned leaves grew. One day, the gardener hoped, it would be part of something truly beautiful.

Honestly, if you were an archetype/cartoon character, you'd be a variant of the Mad Scientist, with the twist that your science('s) rocks.
Ooh I like that one. xD Though I’d be an ANNNNGRY scientist!

The Last Night Part XXVI
Cordelia stood beside the window in the old study with James on her left. The warmth from the fire did nothing to ease the chill that had settled in her bones after returning from Cecily and Gabriel’s house without Lucie. It’d been three hours since their return. Who knew how long that meant Lucie had been enduring whatever misery she’d been dragged into. Her stomach clenched and she grimaced as if in pain at the thought of her dear friend, alone in that horrid place.
James, upon hearing her or sensing her distress, took her hand his, entwining his fingers with hers so their palms pressed together. His hands were warm against her cold skin and she let herself lean against his shoulder. The contact helped to relieve some the anxiety enough for her to listen to conversation around her.
Will leaned over the table with both hands firmly planted on the wood. A look of destructive rage and distress ebbed his features into someone Cordelia hardly recognized. He hadn’t been himself since word arrived to them of Lucie’s capturing.
Tessa sat on the sofa, her hands clutching each other in her lap as if she were praying. She hadn’t spoken much since the news. Her features didn’t twist in fear or anger or sadness. She looked like one of the pale shells Cordelia had found on the beach once. A fragile, beautiful thing with the sound of the ocean raging inside of it.
Magnus stood at the table beside Will. They both studied the ring that James, Cordelia, Alastair and Thomas retrieved from Tatiana’s cold finger, now sitting on the handkerchief Cordelia used to pry it off. Grace had quickly explained the significance of it once again to the adults before going after her brother who was being seen by Brother Zachariah in an adjoining room despite his pleas to help find Lucie. Jesse was his name. His affection for Lucie seemed to run far deeper than that of a friendship. Cordelia could see it in his beautiful, sea colored eyes, the concern for her friend. Not just concern, the desperation. A painful, consuming thing desperation can be and it was swallowing the young Blackthorn boy whole. Between Brother Zachariah, Grace, and Will, they managed to convince him to go and be treated to be sure that his resurrection brought back the Jesse Blackthorn of old and not a new weapon being used by Belial for whatever his plans might be.
“I still don’t understand why one of us can’t just put it on and summon the bastard,” said Will, his dark hair spotted with strands of gray fell in his face uncharacteristically. “If he wanted someone, why not come for one of us? Why my Lucie?”
Cordelia watched Tessa shudder and close her eyes at his words. She understood now what plagued Mrs. Herondale. It was not sadness, anger, or fear— perhaps a mixture of all of those things, but more importantly, there was guilt.
“We have no idea the power this rings manifests,” said Magnus, curiously. “All we know is that Tatiana might have used it to contact Belial or he might have used it to contact her. If one of us were to put it on, we’d have no idea how to make it work.”
“So what should we do with it then?” Will demanded.
“I’m thinking,” said Magnus.
“Think faster,” said Will. “My daughter is trapped only the angel knows where with a prince of hell who plans to use her as a conduit of some sort. We don’t have time to sit and stare at it as if it’s going to rise and tell us what to do.”
“I understand your paternal concerns and while I sympathize, do not think for one moment if you continue to raise your voice at me in that condescending way I won’t turn you into a silent wall ornament until I figure out the best plan,” said Magnus without taking his eyes off of the ring.
Will moved back a step, voluntarily or not, Cordelia wasn’t sure. He had the good sense to bite back whatever was prepared to come out of his mouth next, but by the straining muscles in his jaw, it took a lot of effort.
James’s hand tightened around Cordelia’s. As much as she was drawing strength from him, it appeared he was drawing strength from her as well. She offered what she could and still felt as if it weren’t enough.
“There is something,” said Magnus quietly. “A spell. If there is anything tethered to this ring, it will reveal it.”
“Then why haven’t—“ Will took a deep breath through his nose and started again. “All right, is there a reason why you’re hesitant to do this spell?”
“Yes,” said Magnus and undid the buttons around his wrists so he could move his shirt sleeves up to his elbows. “It’s a revealing spell. It requires a lot of energy, energy that will leave me vulnerable and weak, but it will give us the information we seek.”
“Is it dangerous?” asked Tessa, the first words she’d muttered in over an hour.
“Only for me,” said Magnus, with so much kindness in his voice that tears sprung to Cordelia’s eyes.
“Magnus,” Tessa breathed.
“When your first child was born I thought you two idiots for bringing a helpless, vulnerable little creature into a terribly unfortunate world such as ours,” start Magnus as he stretched his fingers. “But the little bugger made the two of you so happy that it all seemed worth it. It made all the bad seem a little bit better. I didn’t possibly think you’d need anymore. Then the second one came along and your happiness tripled. I asked you once, why risk it? When you could lose everything so easily, why risk it? Do you remember what you said to me?”
Tears brimmed in Will’s eyes as he looked at Magnus. “Because a moment of that kind of pure happiness is worth a lifetime of sadness. That if I were to lose everything, if all I had left was the one memory of holding my child for the first time, I’ll have been grateful.” And to Tessa he said, “I am so grateful.”
Magnus nodded. “On each of their birth nights I made a silent promise to do whatever I could to protect and watch over them and do whatever I could to help in their times of trouble. I secretly prayed they’d have a lot more sense than their parents but it appears the apple does not fall far as the saying goes.”
James grimaced. “Just keeping life interesting.”
Magnus shook his head. “For this to work, I need absolute silence.”
“Would you like us to leave?” asked Cordelia.
“No,” said Magnus. “Just stay quiet.
He placed both hands inches above the ring and closed his eyes. At first nothing happened except Cordelia could feel the hair on her arms and neck rise to attention. She looked down at her arms at the tiny bumps that rose along her skin and noticed that James’s was doing the same. The air filled with an electricity like a brewing storm as blue sparks started to dance from Magnus’s fingertips.
The ring on the table began to rattle with enough force that the table shook beneath it. Soon Cordelia could feel the ground tremble beneath her feet.
“Reveal yourself,” whispered Magnus. “Who do you belong to?”
A picture fell from the wall inches behind Tessa, if it were not for Will’s quick movement, the thick frame would have landed on her head. He held her against him and settle back in the far side of the room where nothing could fall on them.
James, in a similar fashion, wrapped his arms over Cordelia’s head and his own. With limited visibility over his shoulder, Cordelia watched as the ring exploded with light, highlighting Magnus’s face with it’s blinding radiance.
“What is it you want?” said a voice from the ring that Cordelia felt she faintly recognized.
“Your help,” said Magnus, eyes still closed. “We need your help, Tatiana.”
“Tatiana,” said Will before Tessa hushed him.
“And why should I help you, downworlder?”
“Because we’re going to destroy the demon that murdered you,” said Magnus. “The one who took you away from your family. You can help us, if you can provide us with the information that we need.”
The ring went silent for a moment. Still rattling and glowing as the only sign that Tatiana was still there. The whole room seemed to hold their breath as they waited for a reply.
“What information do you need?
“Did you communicate with Belial through this ring?”
“No,” said Tatiana. “This ring belonged in my family for generations. It is nothing more than heirloom.”
James cursed into Cordelia’s ear.
“Is there anyway for us to communicate with Belial?”
“Only if he wants you to,” said Tatiana.
Magnus’s breathing hitched as his teeth grit together. “Is there anything you can tell us to help us fight against Belial?”
“Does he already have the child?”
“Yes,” grunted Magnus.
“Then you are already doomed.”
“No,” said Magnus. “There must be something we can do. Anything you can tell us.”
“Arriving up here, manifesting himself the way he did, exerted an extreme amount of his power, he’s likely recharging in the Shadowrealm now. As with all great evils, Belial was spawned from one of the seven heads of the great dragon Tathamet. He lorded over the Realm of Lies in Hell, and was mentored by Mephisto, and like his mentor, he is always in the shadows.
“A long time ago, the Lesser evils came to be discontent with the Prime Evils’ focus on humanity after the events of the Sin War, furious that the Great Conflict had been apparently abandoned. In the midst of this period, Belial and Azmodan saw a chance to overthrow the Prime Evils and take control of Hell for themselves. Belial manipulated Azmodan into making war against the Prime Evils. The two evils made a pact with their brethren, assuring them that humanity would not stand in their way in the course of the Great Conflict. Ruling over hell itself wasn’t enough for Belial, soon after he vested his time and efforts into Garreth Rau. An orphan with a spark of nephalem legacy in his blood, Rau was twisted by the Lord of Lies, becoming a powerful dark mage in servitude to Hell. Rue’s personality and memories were over written with the persona of the Dark One, an insidious and jealous mage. Belial planned to use Rau and his followers to build an army on Sanctuary, and after conquering the mortal realm, use it to launch an invasion against Heaven itself.
“Belial’s plan was foiled by Cain and his allies. Despite possessing overwhelming power, The Dark One succumbed to Cain’s resourcefulness. The persona of the original Garreth Rau briefly resurfaced and drove himself to suicide. It appears Belial is trying to enact his plan once again.”
“How do we stop him?”
“You can’t,” said Tatiana. “The only way to stop him was to keep him from possessing the child. Now that he has what he wants the only one who can stop him is the child.”
Tessa sobbed into Will’s chest and James’s arms wrapped tighter around Cordelia. She had little means of consoling him as she felt as if she were shattering herself.
Lucie, she wanted to scream. Her name is Lucie! Not the child!
“I wish you luck,” whispered the ring. “If I may ask for one small favor for my knowledge?”
Magnus’s hands shook as he held onto his power. “What is it?”
“Please, please give this ring to my daughter,” said Tatiana. “I would like to be with her in the only way that I can.”
“I’ll see that it’s done,” grimaced Magnus.
And just as the door to the library burst open, Magnus released his grip on the ring and collapsed backwards into the awaiting arms of Matthew who has just come through the door with Christopher on his heels. Through a curtain of blond curls, he looked around the somber room and said, “What’d I miss?”
(A/N: Thanks for waiting for this one guys. The story of Belial is not my own. It was pulled from a source and I kind of elaborated on it a bit. hope you guys enjoyed this and I’ll see you again on Friday!)

The Order of the Elheim:
An order of the 5 skeleton kings led by Barakin, ruler of the undead.
The Nephilim:
A race of man who had the ability to change form into a skeletal figure, such as Fern, Skuldugerry, the Four Horseman. The average nephelin was stronger than the average man and their average skill in magic was higher.
The Four Horsemen:
Viewed as the Apprentices of Death, they were four siblings, two girls and two boys. Each had been given a name, Ruin, Famine, War, and Disease: causes of Death. They were famously known for their horses, each being called Rider depending on their respective colours, Red Rider for War, Brown Rider for Famine, Green Rider for Disease and Blue Rider for Ruin or sometimes just Horsemen.
Limbo:
Once a place of silent slumber and peace, it was taken by Limbo and corrupted. All who enter are tortured for eons. After the First Age, God took the life from Limbo and allowed Peace to seep back into that dimension. He waited for so long for He wanted Limbo to return to His divine light. But she did not, much like the First Corruption.
The Black Soulstone:
This stone was created by Malthael in order to trap the Seven Prime Evils. When he killed Tathamet, he secluded himself in the Angelarium (Angel Archives) for 50 years, dedicating those years to find a way to trap the Demon Lords that he believed he created in the death of Tathamet. He succeeded in making it and successfully trapped Duriel, Andariel, Belial, and Baal. At this time, Mephisto had been living in the deep of Hell, guarded by his Demon Army, Azmodan had been preparing for the Eternal Conflict and Diablo had been growing in power. He later marched upon Heaven, to the first Gate, where Itherael fought with him and lost. Imperius and Malthael defeated him and he fell. Mephisto then gained Angelic allies to retrieve the Black Soulstone to release his siblings. Diablo and Azmodan cared not for the others and wished to be the highest Great Evil and were reckless in trying to achieve it. The Angel, Balzael was tasked with stealing the Black Soulstone and he succeeded. Mephisto destroyed it and released his siblings and then sent Lilith and Balzael to kill Malthael in the Eternal Conflict. Malthael killed Balzael. As soon as the Soulstone was destroyed, the Eternal Conflict began. Mephisto, Duriel and Andariel joined their armies. Belial went out alone, like Baal and Azmodan. Diablo did not appear straight away as he remained in his realm in Hell. Diablo later appeared and killed dozens upon dozens of Angels. The war saw the deaths of thousands of Angels and Demons. The Sisters of Sin did significant damage, with Lecaila, Veneraria and Ardelia in the frontlines, Wurma, Evinda and Bolina doing their dirty work behind the scenes and Regarina skulking in her domain, doing nothing. Redelina Crow hunted them down after the Eternal Conflict, when Man, Elves, Dwarves and Hobbits came into existence. All scriptures and notes Malthael wrote on how he created the Black Soulstone, he destroyed after the destruction of the Black Soulstone in case anyone was to retrieve them and create their own. At the end of the Eternal Conflict, Malthael and Imperius had gone to seek refuge in the Seventh Heaven with God, Lucifer remained in the deepest realm in Hell, Limbo and Supernovas’ whereabouts were unknown, Gaia had remained with her daughters until they died. Then she went to the Seventh Heaven. Now, only Itherael remains, guarding the first gate of heaven and aiding the angels of earth.
When Namina’s family were killed by Azmodan near the coming of the Sin War when they were in the borders of Malinorium, Azmodan escaped to Ashangu where he plotted against his siblings. He created his own Soulstone with the help of the Sin Council and Demon Scholars. He called upon the other lesser evils, telling them of a magical rock that would kill the prime evils, allowing them to take the reigns. Instead he planned on taking their power into this Soulstone. Duriel discovered his plan and Belial and Andariel and Duriel fought Azmodan. In the end, Belial fled, Azmodan killed Duriel and some of Andariel’s power was taken in by the Soulstone and Duriel was absorbed by the Soulstone. Azmodan announced the Sin War when he marched his army upon Angbad to reclaim many of it’s dark fortresses as he and the rest of his army marched towards Erebor. The Dwarven Mountains lay above treasured jewels but also upon ancient, powerful Demonic shrines and kingdoms. Azmodan wanted the Anicent power to absorb it and gain it’s power from the Soulstone to kill all his siblings and become the Prime Evil. Belial would try to kill Andariel and take her power but he failed. When the war was lost, Azmodan retreated to his realm. Hephaestus, Barakin and the Head Wraith of Death journeyed to Ashangu and stole his Soulstone. Hephaestus hid it away in his lair along with Malekins Soulstone.
The Seven Demon Lords:
The Greater Evils:
Mephisto.
Baal.
Diablo.
The Lesser Evils:
Azmodan.
Belial.
Andariel.
Duriel.
The Prime Evil: leader of the Greater Evils and the Seven Demon Lords, Mephisto. Some say he is the king of all Demon Lords whereas the Devil is the king of all Demons, which includes Demon Lords.
The Dynastyian Evil: leader of all the lesser evils, Azmodan.

4, 19, 47
4: Rarely these days I talk about my Megaman OCs. I used to talk about em a lot, and it’s sad because Midnight Runner, one of my more favored OCs, I rarely talk about him even when I mention my Megaman OCs. Dark, brooding, and painfully shy, I loved being able to write out his ability to melt in shadows and dash at high speeds. His backstory is just as painful. 19: I answered Trireme last time, but Captain Andromeda Callidum means a lot to me in a way I took a character I fucked up beyond recognition, and turned him around in two different AU’s. I’m just really attached to his design now. 47: I have a LOT of adult or much much older OCs and I tend to RP characters who are much older. Like, 80% of my OC’s even in the Kirby universe range between 25-45 in human equivalent years (my oldest major human OC is Jake, though he’s only in his mid forties). I don’t think I’ve had anybody try and adopt my OC’s. Usually it’s the other way around. A lot of my characters tend to adopt younger characters. xD

I Published a Book!
Hello there.
I am Lord-Tathamet, also known as DisastrousGoth or simply Laurin - you may have heard of me from such fantastic tumblr posts like this one.
If I may have a moment of your attention (and maybe a couple of reblogs to help spread the word):
I PUBLISHED AN ENTIRE BOOK!  But not just any book: A TTRPG SETTING!  Can I get a hell yeah? Hell Yeah. More information under the cut! Thank you in advance for your click and your time!
Seven sundered, struck deep down into the darkest depths of the earth.
Corruption festering forth from the caverns and gulches that have become their tomb, drawing the blackened hearts of monsters and men alike, to worship at their corpses. Blasphemous influence roused the sleepers, and from it sprang the Soulblight, that ravaged the kingdom above, warping the innocents’ body and mind ‘til they are as one of the Accursed.
Then one day, a Three-Eyed Witch arrived at the court of King Jedovid in smoke and a shower of light and she pointed a crooked finger at his face and cackled this oracle:
“Seven sleepers dream nightmares for the living, and though they are wreathed not in gold or jewels, each alone is a sovereign far greater than you. But the plight they bring shall be your cure as well. Though dead they lie, their hearts still beat and their blood remains potent. In the blood, you’ll find your cure. Seek their tombs in the Shadowdark, deep below, and you may yet save your tarnished land.”
Soulblight is a third-party setting compatible with The Arcane Library's Shadowdark RPG: A sword-and-sorcery style world set in the deserts, jungles and mountainous heights of the kingdom of Lothorian.
Delve into the sunken depths of the Shadowdark, as an ancient darkness awakens the slumbering Sovereign, catalysts of the terrible Soulblight that now ravages the kingdom and its people.
This Setting Guide provides you with the following contents:
Seven Regions, Seven Shadowdarks, Seven Sovereign: seven exciting regions of Lothorian, from the grand, colourful throne-city of Cathedra to the distant Blue Glades, where the chariot herd of the giants roams past hills and towering crystal monoliths.
The Soulblight: sin made manifest, a cursed affliction that warps the minds and bodies of whomever it touches - even the heroes. Will they resist the urge? Or succumb to the lure of power the affliction provides...?
New Classes for the Shadowdark RPG: the Red Monk and the Occultist!
New Monsters: Over 100+ new monsters to threaten and torment the world of Lothorian.
Survival of the Fittest! Optional Rules for Diseases and Thirst to bring the harshness of the desert to your Shadowdark table.
Did we mention the Loot? New, wonderful, terrifying, cursed, gilded, valuable and potentially lethal magic items, forbidden hexes and sanguine rites for adventures to line their pockets with.
And more hidden secrets...

OPENING WRITING COMMISSIONS (Updated as of 21.04)
Hello there. I am Laurin, an enthusiastic writer of about ten to eleven years, pursued both as a hobby, as a script-writer for a few local amateur productions and, hopefully, as a soon to be professional. I have never done writing commissions before, but I figured it was time to advertise myself and put my talent out there. You may contact me through E-Mail ([email protected]), Twitter (@ThatOccultDM), Discord (LordTathamet#9889) or through my tumblr (lord-tathamet). I personally would prefer E-mail or Discord above Twitter or Tumblr’s PMing system, but everybody has their own preferences. Either way, payment will proceed through PayPal. Once you contact me, I will be pleased to discuss the commission in question, any details concerning it and additional information if I do so require it. I am always more than willing to undertake additional research into certain topics if the piece requires it. Knowledge is power, after all. For more information about what I am familiar with, what I am willing to and what I will under no circumstances write, keep reading below.
What I WILL write:
Original pieces featuring your Original Characters, as well as fandom-related pieces, drabbles and, yes, I may try my hand at dabbling in romantic pieces, too.I am also capable of writing short scripts, dialogues or monologues, be they for audio-recording or performance purposes. I am fairly open-minded to the things you may ask me to write and I believe it is not inaccurate to say that I am familiar with quite a bunch of fandoms. I am quite good at writing Fantasy, Horror, Cosmic Horror, but Slice-of-Life and other general pieces are of course also no problem at all. But as with any writer, there are limits to the things I am willing to partake in. I may willingly spit in the eyes of God, but that does not mean I am without scruples.
What I will NOT write:
I will under no circumstances write anything involving underage pornography, excessive gore, non-consensual pieces, real-life people, fetishes involving any combination of the former, certain other fetishes that I may not be knowledgable or comfortable enough to write about, nor something that I might personally or morally disagree with (for example, a writing that may idolize certain hate-groups and their beliefs. No Nazis will be served here). I reserve the right to reject a commission for any reason.
Concerning NSFW:
I will admit, I have little to no experience with works of the NSFW kind, but I am willing to take a shot at it on a case-by-case basis and as long as it does not conflict with any of the things I mentioned above under the “will NOT write”-section. But as always, I am willing to learn.  In either case, you MUST be an ADULT and by that I mean Over 18 Years Old to commission a potential NSFW piece from me.
Once a piece has been done, I will forward it you as a PDF, .odt or .word-file, and you may release or share it in any form, if you’d like. However, if such is the case, I must be credited as the writer. Finer details concerning this may be further discussed through private correspondence.
Concerning Fan-Fictions, in order to avoid any legal trouble that may arise, I must ask you not to put any pieces online and if you do, to do so anonymously. Fanart and Fanfiction are always a legal grey area that nobody likes to navigate and I would rather spare both you, the commissioner and myself, getting sued by another creator and ending up paying absurdly huge fines.
For the time being, I have decided to keep the pricing simple by maintaining a 2,50 Euro per 500 words rate (or an equivalent amount in another currency), up to a maximum of 5000 words.
For convenience sake: 500 Words = 2,50 Euro 1000 Words = 5 Euro 1500 Words = 7,50 Euro 2000 Words = 10 Euro
...And so on. Longer pieces may of course be negotiated, but keep in mind this will extend the writing process, especially if I may receive multiple longer commissions. I am proficient in both English and German, so these are the languages I am also willing and capable of writing in. For a sample of my current works, there are multiple pieces of writings to be found on my blog, and on request, I can of course forward other samples from my own collection so you may regard my writing styles.
And, at last, here is the more or less complete list of Fandoms that I am in, familiar with or otherwise have at least a surface level knowledge of. This does not mean, of course, that I will limit myself to only these, so do not worry if your specific fandom does not pop up here.Without further ado:
- Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro and Demon’s Souls
-The Elder Scrolls
- Sonic the Hedgehog & Related Pieces of Media
- Devil May Cry
- DuckTales (and plenty of other Disney-related Shows and Movies)
- Bartimaeus
- Critical Role
- Discworld
- Fullmetal Alchemist
- The Edge Chronicles
- The Black Company
- Lord of the Rings
- A Song of Ice and Fire
- Berserk- Star Wars
- Avatar: The Last Airbender & The Legend of Korra
- The Dragon Prince
- Star Trek (specifically, DS9 and The Next Generation)
- Hades (by Supergiant Games)
- Darksiders- Legend of Zelda
- Warhammer
- Hollow Knight
And a whole bunch of others, but I believe these should cover a lot of ground for now. So, I bid you adieu for now, and hope to hear from you! Stay safe, healthy, and mind as you go.

Dungeons and Dragons 5E - Homebrew Subclass: Path of the Asura
WARNING! What follows is a homebrew Monk Archetype still in developement. For now, I’d only consider it an Enemy NPC class. I’d be happy about any sort of feedback and critique, tips on balancing it out  further and etc. Apologies for any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, I shall fix those in the near future.
Amidst a sea of blood and carved up bodies, a single man sits on top of a small hilltop of corpses. His legs crossed and eyes closed, his tranquility seems out of place in this horrifying scene. Survivors of the bloodbath come crawling out of their hiding place, men and women clad in heavy armour and brandishing chipped swords and blood-soaked axes. They are out to avenge their comrades.
The tranquil man opens his eyes and they glow with the fury of hell itself. Muscles creak and bones click as the man stands up to face his foes. The skin of his arms darkens to a charred black and the light of his eyes turns into hungering flames as he unleashes the build up fury in a terrifying roar, before he launches himself at his opponents – no longer a man, but a horrific, charred black creature of destruction, from whose back sprout giant arms seemingly made of flame.
You follow a monastic tradition that has its origins in the seemingly mindless destructive force of the great Archdemon Asura himself. When you focus your ki, you call upon the fury of your heart to harden your skin, to become strong enough to shatter armour with a single strike and grow stronger with every beating you take, furthering your rage to tremendous heights. Additionally, you can also channel your ki into bursts of destructive demonic energy, augment your own body into that of an unstoppable machine of disaster and eventually, when the fury consumes you, become an avatar of Asura himself.
Monks of this tradition believe, that destruction is not a calamity you must fear, but a necessary for the world to change and further develop. As such, they follow in the footsteps of the Archdemon Asura, seeing him less as a malefic force of evil, but as the Avatar of Change himself and strife to follow his example. To do so, they learn to control their anger, their wrath and fury and use it to channel their innate ki.
Aspect of Wrath
When you choose this monastic tradition at 3rd level, you develop the ability to channel your ki to augment your body  to superhuman levels. As a bonus action, you may turn yourself into an Aspect of Wrath, giving you the following abilities:
Destructive Fists. Your unarmed attacks deal additional fire damage equal to your wisdom modifier.
Charred Skin. While in your Wrath Form, your AC equals to 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Wisdom modifier + your Constitution modifier.
Voice of the Demon. Your very presence strikes fear in the hearts of enemies. You may take a bonus action to unleash a terrifying roar to reduce your foes to whimpering piles of despair. They must succeed on a Wisdom Saving Throw against your Ki save DC or be frightened until the end of your next turn.
Never-ending Fury. For every creature you kill while in this form, you regain 1 ki point.
Your Wrath Form gains additional abilities at 6th, 11th and 17th level.
For every turn you remain in this form, you must spend 1 ki point to sustain it. When your  ki points come to 0, you return to your normal self and you gain one level of exhaustion. While in your wrath form, you are unable to regenerate health in any way, be it by the way of a healing potion, a cure wounds spell or any other kind of magical effect.
Arms of Vajra
At 6th level, you, may spend 3 ki points to sprout four arms of destructive energy from your back. When you use your Flurry of Blows ability, you may now make six unarmed strikes as a bonus action, instead of two.
Force of Destruction
At 11th level, you gain the ability to emit beams and barrages of destructive energy.
Force Barrage. You may spend 3 ki points to unleash a barrage of energy projectiles from your hands. Make a ranged spell attack for each projectile against a single creature, dealing force damage in the process. The number of projectiles equals to your wisdom modifier plus your proficiency bonus. The damage die for each projectile is a d6.
Destructive Wave. You may spend 4 ki points to emit demonic energy from your body in a 30 ft. radius. All creatures in that space must succeed on a Dexterity Saving throw against your Ki DC or take 4d12 force damage and are knocked prone. If they succeed, the damage is halved and they remain upright.
Demon Breath. You may spend 5 ki points to emit a 5ft. Wide and 60 ft. long beam of demonic energy from your mouth that pierces through your enemies defences and leaves them weakened. Every creature in the line of fire must make a Dexterity Saving throw against your Ki DC or take 5d10 force damage. Additionally, they have disadvantage on all saving and attack roles until the end of your next turn. If they succeed, the damage is halved and are not weakened.
Hell To Your Doorstep
At 17th level, you may spend 7 ki points to bring forth Hell to your enemies. You summon up a sphere of malevolent energies, 20 ft. in radius and centred on you. The ground in that sphere is considered difficult terrain, as the negative energies crack and ripple the earth around you. Every creature that enters this sphere must make a Dexterity Saving Throw or be impaled by spikes of destructive energy that jut out of the space around it. On a failure, the creature takes 3d10 points of necrotic damage and has it's speed reduced to 0. It must succeed on a Strength or Dexterity Check against your Ki Save to free itself. If it succeeds its initial saving throw, it takes half damage and isn't impaled.
At each start of your turn, you must spend 1 ki point to sustain the sphere. If you don't, the sphere collapses, leaving you with one level of Exhaustion.
