in the umbrella academy au, when they time travel, and Lucy meets Haselby, does she also meet his father and does he maybe threatens her like in otwttw
i imagined Haselby’s father finding her on the ground after she hit her head and she fainted and thanks to his son’s kindness, they decide to help her, but when his father finds out she has lost her memory, he take advantage of that and try to push her into marrying his son
Ooh such a good idea anon—I love it, but I might tweak it.
Now, quick point. Unlike @bridgertonbabe, I’ve set my S2 in Regency England as a nod to Bridgerton.
My idea is that Lucy is actually found by a kindly widow, Countess Mormont, who takes her as her ward. Lucy becomes her lady companion in the lady’s last couple years but still, no one expects Lucy to inherit the entire lady’s estate. (Especially as Lucy is black in my AU).
Thus, Lucy is left, still amnesic, and all alone, in a foreign time with a significant estate and circling vultures pulling her this way and that with their ‘advice’.
But then Lord Haselby swoops in, offering a kind hand and listening ear, ensuring Lucy is left at some peace…until he apparently ‘unearths’ some nefarious truth about the old Earl, something that would ruin Lucy forever. The solution? A marriage to his son to secure both families.
And even though Lucy’s faithful maid, Sophie, cautions her, Lucy feels she has no other option to accept…hence the marriage between Lucy Abernathy and Basil Haselby is struck. Lucy finally has protection, and wouldn’t you know, Lord Haselby is that much closer to getting his hand on the Monfort inheritance…
#hope answers#the umbrella academy au#bridgerton#lucy abernathy#Lord Haselby is still a sleaze in every AU

So just like how Queen Charlotte is frustrated with her children for being a bunch of whores and virgins, imagine an AU where Violet Bridgerton finds herself at the end of the her tether with her children for whoring themselves out with absolutely none of them having any intentions on settling down. What’s even more frustrating is that she knows each of her children are being devout whores to a respective sole lover; what she doesn’t understand is why none of them seem capable of marrying the lovers they’re clearly so enraptured with and provide her with the grandbabies she is ever so desperate for.
Eventually she becomes so sick of all eight of her children refusing to provide her with the sons-and-daughters-in-law and grandchildren that she ardently covets that she decides to take matters into her own hands. She recruits the likes of Lady Danbury, Mary Sharma, and Helen and Janet Stirling to help with her schemes, as well as reaching out to her eligible Rokesby nieces and nephews to see if any of them would be interested in playing a little game where they get to show amorous interest in certain members of the Ton which will then in turn terribly vex their cousins. Once everything is carefully arranged she puts all eight strategic plans into action; and then all she has to do is kick back and wait.
Due to the marvellously perfect execution of her scheming, the wait doesn’t last long at all as shortly thereafter her eight children come storming into the drawing room wearing identical faces of thunder.
“Mother; why did you encourage the Bagwells, including Mrs Bagwell’s mother and sister in their decision to move back to India?!”
“Why would you tell Lady Cowper that the Duke of Hastings had declared his intentions to make Cressida his wife?!”
“And why would you write to Sir Phillip and invite him to Aubrey Hall to introduce him to Daphne?!”
“Why did you give my mother-in-law Cousin Elizabeth’s name as a potential bride for the earl to marry?!”
“What were you thinking when you decided to introduce Cousin Roger to Penelope and encourage their courtship?!”
“Why would you suggest Lord Haselby and his future wife take a lengthy honeymoon around the continent?!”
“What business is it of yours to work with Lady Danbury and play matchmaker with her grandson and Felicity?!” And then, after being elbowed by her older brother, Hyacinth followed up with; “And how could you send Sophie off to Scotland as Lady Stirling’s new lady’s maid without telling me?!”
Violet surveyed the eight aggrieved red faces of her offspring and calmly continued her embroidery, all the while refraining from smirking victoriously.
“Hm. I don’t quite see why any of these developments should greatly upset any one of you.” she hummed. “Perhaps you are all in need of being occupied to keep you distracted from the lives of others that surely have no bearing on your own. Why don’t I start drawing up lists of potential husbands and wives for you all to consider, hm?”
She lifted a brow at her gathered children, all of who seemed fit to burst from sheer agitation as they glared back at her.
“Of course, I’ve already made a start on your behalf, Daphne. Sir Phillip will make for an ideal husband-”
“NO; HE’S MINE!” Eloise exploded.
And just like that, the rest of them fell like dominoes straight after - and within weeks a very smug Violet Bridgerton had astounded the Ton by successfully marrying off all eight of her children.

Hi so first hopefully you don’t think this is too weird but you’re one of the main Gregory Bridgerton fan account on Twitter and I wanted to see if you had any thoughts on this:
In the first Smyth-Smith book, set in 1824, Gregory is in final year at Cambridge. He is said to be around same age as Honoria, who is 21. On the surface it makes perfect sense for a 21 year old to be in final year. However, Greg was born in 1801 and in TSPWL, also set in 1824, he says he is 23. Anthony was due to go to Oxford aged 18. Students typically went to university age 18 (sometimes as young as 15) for a period one to three years. Gregory would have had to leave Eton when he was 18 which was 1819. Furthermore, from OTWTTW we knew he went to Eton and Cambridge with Lord Haselby and Neville Berbrooke. The only explanations for are :
Greg and Neville did a two year grand tour before university and only overlapped with Haselby for one year or the pair of them spent 5 years in university. (Flaw: considering Greg’s allowance I doubt he could afford this and I also don’t think he liked Neville enough)
Completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies a lá Richard Abernathy. (Flaw: that only there’s a two year gap between G&R, they both went to Cambridge but they don’t know each other)
I need to re-read all the Bridgerton books for some more clues about Greg’s whereabouts but honestly, he is the sibling we probably know the least about from the books and this one timeline detail of education should be impossible to get wrong and yet here I am.
Don’t even get me started on Colin and Greg’s show!verse education or book!verse Lucy and Hermione finishing school and debut at twenty years old!
no i love this, this is so welcome! <3 <3 <3
– gregory really is the character whose whereabouts are a big question mark, there's just a bunch of hand-waved "oh, he's off doing such and such" until he needs to show up in TSPWL and IIHK. like he couldn't make the time to come home for his mother's birthday but he's supposedly at daphne's ball at the end of RMB. we need to launch a full-federal investigation.......
– maybe if we say greg is an early may baby we could say he's 22ish in "just like heaven" and the first halves of RMB/WHWW, and then turns 23? and then kate's house party in OTWTTW is later may, hence he'd already turned 26 by the time he meets lucy – i could see greg doing a grand tour, possibly! maybe a much, much more condensed version of what colin was doing. it's pushing believability a little since it's never mentioned AND colin is the one to suggest "you'll have to travel" right after gregory creates the scandal at lucy's wedding. neville.... i don't feel like he's someone who would've liked to be abroad for long and you're right that greg wouldn't have wanted to go with him fjkdslfj
– i think lucy says haselby is a decade her elder.... making him at least 30. if greg and neville are 26, maybe they overlapped that one year at cambridge, but that would mean they did have to start school in 1819 🤔 so then that rules out pre-university travel. unless of course haselby also delayed his studies. much to think about.
– i'm dead jfkdj it says something about richard electing to remain at school even when he didn't have to, and delaying having to take his place in society (i think he's only able to do this for a year though, since he's 22?). but i'm wondering if that's a possibility for either neville or greg to have done (it's not super plausible.... but maybe? 😭). though then that also doesn't make sense for greg to say his path never crossed with richard's at school, unless he meant they were there at the same time but didn't actually ever meet.
– headcanon for hermione (who's prospects hadn't yet been 'secured' the way lucy's were with haselby) is that she asked her family to send her to finishing school to delay her debut so she could keep up her correspondence with edmonds (also why was he encouraging a romance with a 16/17 girl? a discussion for another time....)
– lucy going to school worked out in everyone's favor, with her wanting to be somewhere where she could make friends and davenport wanting a "well-polished" wife for haselby, but it's also sad to think she loses out on having a season she realizes she would've actually enjoyed (so i like to hope that the period between her first and second wedding wasn't too bogged down with scandal, and that she got to have some fun)
– greg in the show not going school.... but we all know that's because they couldn't let the fan favorite character remain off-screen cmon now! (no but 😭 i'm assuming they want us to think his term ended before the start of season 2, and then he has tutors over his break) anyways this is a mess i feel like charlie day in that gif. thank you for sending this ask and i loved all the evidence and reasoning you put together! we WILL figure this out 😤

"There is nothing to say."
"What about I love you?"
"Don't say that," she whispered.
He stepped forward. "I love you."
She took a breath. Squared her shoulders. "I am marrying Lord Haselby tomorrow."
"No," he said, "you're not."

Did you see JQ saying that she wants an LGBTQ couple in Bridgerton? Benophie may not happen!
Oh man, I thought we were over this.
Honestly, what did you expect her to say? It's 2023, if someone asks you about having LGTB representation, you'd be an idiot to say no. She gave a vague answer that appeases those who want that element in the show without really making any statements or promises.
I remain convinced that Julia Quinn made sure that the canon couples stay the same. It's a business decision! For her and Shonda! Sophie will come, they have been setting her up since s1. They just need to figure out the story because Julia received a lot of criticism about it.
And remember, in the show, Bridgerton is larger that the family. Queen Charlotte's story is a Bridgerton story, so they could write a new story with an LGTBQ couple and make everybody happy. And there's Lord Haselby in the books and Granville in the show.
Seriously, people, don't you have enough stress in your lives to stress over things that NEVER happen?! Remember when people were sure that Philoise was going to be s4 because Chris Fulton left a show? And then it was revealed he joined another production?

The Great Queer Bridgerton Ship Poll: THE RESULTS!!!
First off, we’d just like to thank everyone for taking part in this silliness. We clocked in at 204,232 votes when we closed the poll with votes still coming in. Deeply unserious, we’re very touched.
That being said this is also VERY serious. Lives are at stake.
Onto the numbers for places (under the cut - cos it's LONG!)
Or read the results thread here on our twitter.
31. Daphne Bridgerton/Alice Mondrich - 0 votes (0.00%)
Sorry girls!
29 =. Colin Bridgerton/Harry Dankworth - 1 vote (0.0005%)
The Danklin nation were not assembled for this fight. One noble voter stood proud!
29 =. Harry Dankworth/Lord Fife - 1 vote (0.0005%)
The vote is entirely anonymous so we will never know who this one brave soul was that swung for the only Fife ship in the poll. It will ever remain a mystery…
23 = . Siena Rosso/Mme Delacroix - 2 votes (0.0010%)
Maybe next time, ladies.
23 = . Violet Bridgerton/Portia Featherington - 2 votes (0.0010%)
The Mama’s did not do it for the voters.
23 = . Mary Sharma/Queen Charlotte - 2 votes (0.0010%)
Not enough follow through on this tension to capture more votes.
23 = . Mme Delacroix/Lucy Granville - 2 votes (0.0010%)
The girls are taking a hit in the polls.
23 = . Gregory Bridgerton/Richard Abernathy - 2 votes (0.0010%)
Our first book character on the list! He fought valiantly.
23 = . Lord Haselby/Neville Berbrooke - 2 votes (0.0010%)
This niche book only fanon couple did this against all odds. Respect!
20 =. Kate Sharma/Sophie Beckett - 4 votes (0.0020%)
A previous fan favourite has slipped down the rankings in this poll!
20 = . Eloise Bridgerton/Edwina Sharma - 4 votes (0.0020%)
A similarly previously popular ship has fallen on hard times this year!
20 =. Will Mondrich/Simon Basset - 4 votes (0.0020%)
MIA since season 1, but sorely missed.
19. Hyacinth Bridgerton/Felicity Featherington - 5 votes (0.0024%)
The show may have forgotten you Felicity, but voters haven’t
18 =. Queen Charlotte/Lady Danbury - 6 votes (0.0029%)
Too many people afraid of the power of these two women kissing.
18 =. Anthony Bridgerton/Thomas Dorset - 6 votes (0.0029%)
Apparently two men holding each other and falling into a lake isn’t homoerotic enough for some.
16. Lucy Abernathy/Hermione Watson - 9 votes (0.0044%)
Another book ship taking on show giants.
15. Eloise Bridgerton/Marina Thompson - 11 votes (0.0054%)
Some people hate to see lesbians winning!
14. Brimsley/Reynolds - 38 votes (0.0186%)
Our first canon queer ship taking a hit! Only scraping top 15!
13. Francesca Bridgerton/Edwina Sharma - 96 votes (0.047%)
The votes are starting to pick up now with this outside contender!
12. Daphne Bridgerton/Cressida Cowper - 211 votes (0.1033%)
A very respectable 12th place for Daphida!
11. Eloise Bridgerton/Penelope Featherington - 236 votes (0.1156%)
A perhaps shock result to not crack the top ten!
10. Gregory Bridgerton/Gareth St. Clair - 403 votes (0.1973%)
Huge result for a book character not yet in the show! Top ten!
9. Colin Bridgerton/Michael Stirling - 636 votes (0.3114%)
A now book based pair on the shortlist from last year, coming into the top ten as an underdog!
8. Francesca Bridgerton/Michaela Stirling - 677 votes (0.3315%)
Michaela Stirling didn’t throw the first brick at Stonewall for 8th place.
7. Simon Basset/Anthony Bridgerton - 737 votes (0.3609%)
Homoerotic tension legendary enough that it brought this show into infamy. You’ve served proudly, kings
6. Francesca Bridgerton/Penelope Featherington - 970 votes (0.475%)
Another outsider in the top 10! The Fran/Pen shooters were not messing around!
5. Colin Bridgerton/Phillip Crane - 1,052 votes (0.5151%)
One olive oil joke and discussions about Ancient Greece, next thing you know -
4. Benedict Bridgerton/Paul Suarez - 1,713 votes (0.8388%)
Congrats on all the sex you had boys! It translated into votes!
3. Kate Sharma/Daphne Bridgerton - 15,911 votes (7.7906%)
Kaphne were leading the way for 5 days this week, only to be pipped to the post in the last few days. Well done on bronze!
2. Benedict Bridgerton/Henry Granville - 84,285 votes (41.2692%)
Voters gave it their all in the last 24 hours, but ultimately couldn’t take the win. A very worthy silver!
1. Eloise Bridgerton/Cressida Cowper - 97,204 votes (47.5949%)
Unreal rush at the end, nearly breaking the poll. The sapphics take the crown of Best Queer Bridgerton Ship!

does sophie manage to make Lucy have her memory back before gregory and the others’ arrival? could we see the moment lucy and gregory meet each other again?😍
ps. i love this au so much, and all your ideas🫶🏼
I'm glad you are enjoying it 😊. Also check out @bridgertonbabe's ideas.
I think, a little like the show, Lucy has pieced some things together but not all. She knows she has a family and after picking up the violin she starts getting more memories of Umbrella family time. But such advances also come with nightmares where she sees her siblings' lifeless bodies in a dilapidated city.
So, she would recognise the rest of the siblings just as Vanya did in S2.
But she remembers nothing about the apocalypse, nor the Bridgertons. But in her dreams, there is a boy with windswept brown hair and kind blue eyes who takes hold of her hand or pulls her into an embrace that makes her feel safe. Dreams where they sit over cups of tea and laugh together in strange clothes. Dreams where he holds her in his arms and everything inside her just...harmonises.
But he is just a dream. Her reality is the impending nuptials. The reality is that she needs to save the Ashdown legacy, even if it means sacrificing her chance of true love. Furthermore, who could love her anyway??
This is my reality. She mutters as she gets measured for the dress.
This is my reality. She mutters when she enters the church, squashing down the voice inside her that is screaming for her to stop.
This is my reality. She mutters when she faces Basil and he smiles like a friend and she uses all her willpower not to look at Sophie's sad eyes.
This is my reality. She mutters just as she is about to say her vows--
The doors boom upon opening.
"Stop this wedding!"
And Lucy's whole world stops.
For there, walking up the aisle, is the man of her dreams. With the floppy brown hair, and blue eyes that seem to call her towards him, full of safety...and love. So much so, that she steps down from the altar--
"What is the meaning of this!" Lord Haselby calls. But the man only has eyes for Lucy. He steps forward eyes wide but without guile--the antithesis of all the men Lucy has seen in the past years.
"You cannot marry him Lucy, because I have spent the last week hopping through time and space just to be here to say that I love you.” His eyes are shining and it pierces Lucy’s heart. “I love you—an extraordinary woman who has a heart of gold and does everything to ensure she does right by the ones she loves. A woman who has been extraordinary since I entered that coffee shop. For I loved you when you served me coffee, and I loved when you patched up my wounds and I loved you even when you lost control of your powers. So, you cannot go through with this wedding, because I am the man who has loved every extraordinary part of Lucy Abernathy, and I should be the one standing opposite you on that altar."
Lucy is stunned speechless by a man who seems to know her entire heart, who has not shied away from her and is willing to defy everything to pronounce his love shamelessly. She takes another step, something in her heart tugging her forward.
But she meets Lord Haselby's arm.
"This is preposterous! Miss Abernathy does not even know who this man is--do you dear?"
Lucy turns to him then back to the man, mind spiralling. Her heart knows this man, but she just...why can she not...
Gregorivich? Mr Re-Greg-t?
“See,” Lord Haselby cries, “the poor girl has no idea who this man is. Shame on you,”
Lucy watches the light in the man’s eyes start to drain and he looks as if he has been cut in the stomach with a blade—
Gregory. Gregory Bridgerton.
A boy winking at her as she handed him coffee.
A boy grinning at her with his arm slung around her shoulder, I always knew you were special, Lucy Abernathy.
And a boy standing opposite her in a crater of debris, arms out; the first one to give her a choice, the first one to trust her, to accept all of her.
“Gregory?” she whispers, trying to step forward, but Lord Haselby is too loud.
“How dare you come in here and try to trick this poor, defenceless, woman! Guards—take him away.”
“No!” Lucy cries as guards encircle Greogry. “Wait!” she calls, but is pulled back by Lord Haselby.
“You will not ruin this little girl, not now,” Lord Haselby hisses. Lucy looks into his eyes and shivers—for they are the antithesis of Greogry’s.
Meanwhile, Gregory is fighting against guards, calling for her. In the congregation Lord Bridgerton rises, as does a red-headed adopted daughter of a Baron.
“Lucy, wait! Lucy, wait, you know me—I’m Gregory! It’s me, Gregory!”
The noise rises, Lucy can hear Sophie arguing to get past Lord Haselby, the congregation is in uproar. And all the strings she has kept tightly wound within her seem to be snapping as her memories start jumbling together.
From the doors two commoner men rush in and try to aid Gregory—and she recognises one of them as her brother Gareth. They push aside the guards, allowing Gregory to break free and lurch forward,
“Lucy!”
Something in her heart, in her soul causes her to run forward, reach out until their fingertips brush—
Sensation floods through Lucy, even as she and Gregory are pulled apart, as if a violin stroke reverbs through her body. Then come the unfurling of memories.
Bubbling, bursting rage, an inferno flooding through her.
Clutching Sophie, Kate and Simon in tentacles of light, regardless of the cries of despair from the Bridgertons.
Debris of a city and the mangled bodies of her siblings, scattered around her.
The world starts to sing, energy rippling off her just as it did back then. She cannot, she cannot—
Lucy runs.

"Yes, you," came Lucy's immediate response, laughter spilling from her lips at his feigned surprise. "I have never known such stubbornness -- Even when you were turned away from my wedding, you still managed to turn up at the reception." And yet such stubbornness was the greatest gift of all, for if he had given up on her she would be stuck now in a loveless marriage to Lord Haselby. "It is what I love about you."
The sudden change of tone as Gregory kissed her knuckles wiped the smile from her face, dark eyes resting on the desperation in his expression as she shook her head. "I'm sorry." It was a knee-jerk reaction, to apologise and brush it under the rug. "I'm sorry, I just -- Sometimes I cannot believe that... that you are mine."
@dynastymuses
greogory smirked ❝me? stubborn? i do not know what you mean my darling.❞ however he knew he was. he wasn't stubborn about petty things, such as always being right, or being better than anyone, but when it mattered he was. when it came to being with lucy, he was. ❝she will. she just needs time to cool off. i love her, but she could win meddles on holding grudges. my sister eloise is almost as bad.❞ he admitted.
gregory shook his head. ❝lucy...❞ he grabbed her hands, kissing the knuckles. ❝how on earth can you think that?❞ he wanted to cry ❝don't you understand what you mean to me? how much i love you? i would give everything i had and live on the streets, as long as you were my wife. i love you so much, and that will never change.❞ he assured her.

Okay but hear me out. Jacob Dudman as Gregory Bridgerton.
He does look like he could pass as an older version of Will Tilston, which probably is the best way to look for On The Way to Wedding!Gregory.
#gregory bridgerton#bridgerton#fancast#really do hope we get to see the remaining four#like gregory’s wouldn’t even really need any added drama#just like give lord haselby a boyfriend and flesh him out a little#and then that’s it#also make lucy’s brother about the same age as her because that’s the vibe i get from him#he cannot be much older than her but i have so many thoughts and questions about richard abernathy#and hold the seemingly unpopular opinion that he’s not as terrible as people make him out to be#he’s young and stupid and hermione is that type to be “in love” with a different person each week#and really let’s just put all the blame on robert abernathy he’s the one who really went and screwed over his niece and nephew
