Allied Nations War Council Trials
Part I
Lucian and Felicity Castellano
Everyone is seated, the sentences agreed upon, and the defendants lined up- it's finally time to begin the coverage of the war trials.
The court room was open to the public for as many seats as were available. The line to get in to witness this historic day in person was fully out of the building and around the corner. Hundreds had to be turned away to watch from home. Speaking of watching from home, millions around the world have tuned in to the the various news channels covering the trials- it's the second most watched television event, after the Tsarina's own wedding, many years ago- but it's a close call, and those numbers may change as the day goes on.
First up on the stand was Lucian Castellano, former Earl of Foreker, and usurper "King" of Selvadorada. In Mr. Castellano's statement written to the council of judges, he pleaded not guilty- claiming he was just following the orders of his Emperor, and doing his duty as a nobleman of Windenburg, to uphold Windenburgian ideals.
Let's listen to what the judges have to say:
Tsarina Ekaterina Ivanov: "Mr. Castellano, you have pleaded Not Guilty before this court. Do you wish to change your plea?" Mr. Castellano: "Obviously not." Tsarina Ekaterina: "Then we will proceed with the passing of our sentence. I yield the floor to Judge Montero."
Queen Anaid Montero: "Mr. Castellano, for the crimes of illegal and unjust occupation of a sovereign state, subjgation of her free citizens, the attempted murder of Imperial Princess Rosaling Ivanov, and the actual deaths of Eduard Humphrey, Earl of Sawborne, and my husband, Prince Consort Rauli Montero, as well as numerous other crimes in the aiding and abetting of the machinations of Emperor Victor Lofton, this court finds you Guilty, and sentences you to life in the Imperial Mountain Prison, as well as revolkes any titles you hold or previously held for you and any of your heirs."
(Crown Prince Ramses Montero of Selvadorada watches as his mother doles out justice to the man who murder his father)
Mr. Castellano: "This is bullshit!" Tsarina Ekaterina: "Thank you, Mr. Castellano, you are excused. You may watch the rest of the trials from a holding room. Next."
The first gavel has been dropped- and the judges aren't messing around! Imperial Mountain Prison is a high security prison structure hidden somewhere in the Glimmer Mountains. No one who's never been there really knows where it is, and some even whisper that it's located under the mountain, and that's why it can't be seen from satelite maps over the area. Either way, Mr. Castellano won't be getting out of there easily.
Next up on the stand, Lucian's wife, Felicity Castellano.
Tsarina Ekaterina: "Mrs. Castellano, you have pleaded... Guilty?" Mrs. Castellano: "Yes, Ma'am." Tsarina Ekaterina: "What are you pleading guilty of?" Mrs. Castellano: "Of being an accessory to my husband's crimes. Whatever crimes he committed, I was by his side. I can only say, I was doing my duty as a wife, in supporting my husband, and didn't agree with his actions. Nevertheless, I did nothing to stop them." Tsarina Ekaterina: "Mrs. Castellano, after reading your testimony, and the testimonies of others who know you and your husband, and were witness to his crimes, this court finds you Not Guilty." Mrs. Castellano: "... What?" Tsarina Ekaterina: "I yield the floor to Judge Pelletier."
Queen Genevieve Peletier: "This court finds Mr. Castellano, his parents, the former Marquess and Marchioness of Lykke, and your parents, Mr. and the late Mrs. Darling, guilty of coercing you into an arranged marriage, but we do not find you guilty of your husband's crimes by association." Mrs. Castellano: "What..." Queen Genevieve: "Further, after consulting a board of social workers and child welfare experts, this court deems you fit to raise your sons, Mr. Oskar and Mr. Otto Castellano." Mrs. Castellano: "Oh my god..." Queen Genevieve: "You and your sons have been striped of your titles, however, by association with Mr. Castellano, and you will be assigned a social worker who will continue to do routine checks to ensure the safety and welfare of your sons." Mrs. Castellano: "Oh my god, thank you! Thank you, so much!" Tsarina Ekaterina: "There is one more thing. Due to the arranged nature of your marriage, this court would like to offer you an annulment. Is that something you would like?" Mrs. Castellano: ".... Yes, Ma'am. Yes I would." Tsarina Ekaterina: "Very well, there will be paperwork for you to fill out as you leave, but you are free to go, thank you."
In a complete 180 from the sentence her (now ex) husband recieved, the former Countess was found not guilty, and given full custody of her sons!
Stay tuned for more covereage of the trials!

LA ABADESA (2024)
Synopsis
In the 9th century, Emma of Barcelona (c. 880-942), a 17-year-old girl, is named abbess in order to repopulate and Christianize border territories in 897. Upon arriving at the abbey, she will have to overcome the mistrust aroused by a woman determined to fulfill her mission, which will lead her to confront nobles, like her brother Count Guifré II Borrel of Barcelona (874-911), peasants and the nuns themselves. Despite everything, Emma will show that it is possible to challenge established power structures. Although she will pay a high price to get it...
Emma is willing to carry out the commission of her deceased noble father, Count Guifré I of Barcelona, Guifré el Pilós (840-897), founder of the House of Barcelona: convert the abbey that he founded in 885, the Monastery of Sant Joan de les Abadesses, for which she is now responsible into the engine of change and transformation of a society that comes down. She must help with all her resources to help the lands that are emptied due to hunger caused by border wars, which in turn are a consequence of the ambitions of the feudal lords of the area.
Emma acquired small or large properties with which the monastery came to have a territory equivalent to that of a county. Her sovereignty was also similar to that of a countess: by concession from her father, her domains were exempt from all interference from the neighboring counts, whom she knew how to oppose with resistance.
On cinemas: Friday 22 March
Filming began in January 2023 at the Loarre Castle, and included scenes filmed at the Turó de la Seu Vella, until concluding at the end of February 2023.

𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍:
The Honorable Ellis Davenport — the youngest son to the Viscount Eduard Davenport. A young man of vast potential and a charming face; yet one you rarely see. He often finds himself either hidden away in the den, shoving his face into various books to take in as much knowledge as he possibly can or into his own journals as he scribbles down his poetry. His attempt at discovering himself. When he isn't hidden away in the den of the estate, the young man himself is off on his travels. Attempting to take in the world beyond Briarglen.
A true traveler at heart, a man of many loves that all involve art, and someone that doesn't truly believe in the wooing of a Season. He typically finds himself trying to pay more attention to art and knowledge instead of the young ladies that have made their debut in an attempt to find themselves a husband.

"His majesty Lucian of Royaume de Rêvasser, Alexander's Golden Ring, wears a celestial dress, inspired by Myrkvid's eternal night sky. Many elves, overseen by his Grace, the Lord of the Shadowed Moon, sole monarch of Myrkvid, Eduard, worked on this dress for several moons to ensure it was tailored to perfection and his majesty's burning greatness would not damage the dress. It was gifted as a celebration of Myrkvid's and Rêvasser's friendship. "

Guts: And then that...PIG....came into my tent...he told me that Gambino had...payed him to do that to m-"
Casca: Oh please stop the waterworks! I've been through this exact type of situation countless times! Do you know what it means to be a woman in an army? Yet I've never faltered and neither should you! So pick yourself up and stop crying like a baby!
Also didn't Annette blow the group's cover in episode 2 because she got a bit too pissy upon seeing someone she hated? Which led to the vampires chasing them and to Eduard getting captured?
After that I believe Richter tried to comfort her by telling her it wasn't her fault (even though it technically was) and then later that's how Annette repaid him when HE showed weakness?
Adorable
tfw Casca instead immediately comforts Griffith when he's clawing his arms out after selling himself to Lord Gennon and Guts after his breakdown by telling him that now she finally feels equal to him after learning about each other's innermost vulnerabilities
sorry casca you weren't #progressive enough 😔
Oh yeah she did! She blew their cover because she couldn't control her powers! Not only that, but while Annette was shittalking about Richter, the thought of her is what allowed him to unlock his magic power! He already cared about her!
I feel genuinely bad for Richter, but not for the reasons the show wants me to.
(also it seems to be, like... a recurring theme in the show, that characters' impulsivity leads to tragedy? From Richter getting in the way of his mom to Annette doing that to Maria trying to reason with CHURCH BAD the Dad... not sure how I feel about that. But only Richter AFAIK got insulted for that)

Smrtolf “Aemilia(s)”
This is a drabble that could be done with great historical accuracy and proper research. I have done exactly none of that in this case. All the nobles are OCs.
I’m tired and it is late here so proofreading was less than usual.
For @adridoesstuff as all my smrtolf drabbles are. Cut for length.
Franz has never been good at talking to his son. At first he had simply chalked it up to Rudolf’s age - talking with children was very different from talking with adults, but if anything things got harder and not easier as Rudolf grew.
It’s at one of the informal dinners that Franz finally pries something out of Rudolf. It’s not really anything, just a name. Aemilia. A friend of his son’s. Or at least that is what Rudolf calls her. No title, no family name to accompany it. Just Aemilia.
And as much as Rudolf had a tendency to dance around these sorts of things, Franz had no delusions about the nature of Rudolf’s friendship with this Aemilia. Perhaps it would do some good for the boy to have a mistress that he did seem to care about.
He does try to put it out of his mind. Rudolf and this Aemilia are being remarkably discrete - Eduard seems entirely in the dark, and Franz honestly hadn’t thought that was possible.
But Franz for his part can’t help but to survey the long table of nobles at one of the more formal dinners. Aemilia, Amalia, however it was being spelled these days, wasn’t quite as popular a name as it used to be.
That was probably for the best. Whoever Aemilia was, there would be no major diplomatic incident aside from with Belgium, and given how discrete Rudolf was being it wasn’t like they could really complain much. Men had needs.
There are only two women named Aemilia - Maria Aemilia that is - at the table that night, and both are dowagers, so Franz discards them immediately. There are a dozen women by that name at his court among the more minor nobles. And it would be easier to conduct an affair with a countess than with a princess.
But perhaps there is a little more than that to it. One of the Dowagers is old enough to be Franz’s mother, but the other is younger even than Rudolf. The poor woman had been the fifth wife of an ancient lord. None of the four who had come before her had ever so much as swollen with child, but the fifth wife - Amalia - had borne the lord a son. He’d been the late lord by the time the boy was born, though.
And while the succession had been a relatively smooth transition - Amalia had been great with child when the father passed. There was no doubting the paternity, but the lord had never updated his will, and his equally ancient brother had taken the child almost immediately and declared himself regent.
Amalia had come to Vienna to petition for the return of her son among other things, and if nothing the woman was determined. Perhaps she had gone to the Crown Prince to try and speed things along. It wasn’t as if no one was sympathetic to her plight, but the legalities were murky. Such things did not move quickly.
But Rudolf hadn’t ever said anything at the young dowager’s petition, only nodding along as all the others did and departing for Mayerling, leaving Franz to the business of government.
The other women who came to mind were countesses for the most part, and a few baronesses. But he’d know if it were one of them. Minor noble houses had tendencies to become hangers-on if their daughters found places in the bed of one so high as a Crown Prince. Franz does make a mental note to have Eduard compile a list to see if there are any who might not have the usual hangers-on.
Given how discrete Rudolf seems to have been, perhaps he has found a lady with no relations. There are, of course, other possibilities. Less savory possibilities. It’s expected for one such as Rudolf (or Franz himself for that matter) to dally with a countess, or perhaps a baroness. Actresses, on the other hand, would be entirely unacceptable. But surely Eduard would know if Rudolf had a lady friend in the city.
Perhaps then it is that Rudolf keeps an orphan countess at Mayerling, away from prying eyes. But such a woman would be a sought-after bride. A baroness, then. Or even an actress. How Rudolf managed to get any of them to Mayerling without alerting Eduard, Franz had no idea. Then again, Eduard was a very busy man. But this was not the sort of thing that would slip through the crack. Especially as it was another thing that Eduard could complain to Franz himself about. That the Crown Prince was bedding women instead of learning to rule and empire.
And, Franz thought, it would do him some good to be out of the palace, even if it was only for a day or so.
He departed with only a few guards, well before dawn. Eduard could deal with matters for a day.
—------------------
The birds are there, watching ever so carefully as Franz dismounts his horse. Rudolf had always tried to be subtle, but the walls of the palace were white. It wasn’t as if the boy could have hidden a flock of crows if he tried. He had tried, but never with much success. But they had all left once Rudolf took up residence at Mayerling, so Franz had never brought it up with his son. The problem was out of sight. Foreign ambassadors wouldn’t be writing any superstitious missives to their home nations about the Viennese court being haunted by carrion crows.
He comes swiftly through the lodge, the servants parting. There aren’t many here, and they were ever so loyal to Franz’s son to a level that vexed Franz himself on occasions. Eduard seemed almost to the point where he would tear his own hair out. To Franz, though, it spoke well of his son, of his ability to inspire loyalty when he needed to.
It’s early, and part of Franz expects to catch Rudolf still asleep, in bed with his mistress, but the scene that greets him is nothing of the sort.
His son is painting, a raven perched at his side and a crow on the floor some distance away, playing with what appears to be one of Rudolf’s shirts.
“Rudolf.” The boy starts, entirely surprised to see Franz. It’s not like Franz comes here often, usually leaving Rudolf to his privacy.
“Papa.” He does recover his composure quickly, passing off the brush to the raven, who holds it in its beak ever carefully while regarding Franz. The crow on the floor hadn’t even looked up. There’s an unspoken tinge to Rudolf’s voice, though. What are you doing here?
“Rudolf, we need to talk.” The confusion on Rudolf’s face is obvious. Franz sighs and sits down. “About your friend. Aemilia.”
His son goes completely still at that. So this will be a most awkward conversation, then.
“Rudolf, having urges is normal. And you’ve been discrete, but-” Franz pauses. Awkward didn’t do whatever this was justice. It was torture. “Rudolf, if you’re trying to father a son out of wedlock to try and get your divorce you should know it doesn’t work that way.”
The look Rudolf gives him is one of utter shock, mixed with confusion. So that was not his son’s goal, then. The idea had come to Franz on the ride.
“She’s not my-” Rudolf doesn’t even get the word out, still looking at the floor. The crow - an odd black and white thing - was still playing with the shirt, seemingly enthralled as it tried without success to unpick the seams.
“Rudolf-”
“Aemilia Isn't my mistress.” Rudolf blurts the words out, looking up at Franz only only seeming to just notice that he had spoken out of turn. Franz for one didn't care much - it wasn’t as if there was anyone around to see.
And so Franz waited, giving his son an expectant expression. He wants to know.
Rudolf instead turns, taking the brush from the raven, setting it down, and offering it his wrist.
“Papa, this is Aemilia.” Rudolf nods to the bird, placing a little kiss on her head. “My friend.”
The bird chirps in agreement.
A familiar bird, Franz realizes. “Is that the bird that bit me two months ago?”
Rudolf had been hiding after dinner, and Franz had joined him, watching his son toss grapes and bits to meat to a graceful raven. But when his son had run out of morsels the raven had turned to Franz himself, nosing around at his fingers, and ever so slightly nipping at one.
“Yes.” Rudolf sounds resigned. The bird, on the other hand, makes an affirmative noise and eyes Franz once more. Perhaps, Franz thinks, Eduard might not be able to handle the empire for a day. Things have been tense.
“Aemilia stays at Mayerling, Rudolf.” And, Franz thinks, others can retrieve his son.
Rudolf looked up, confused, but Franz was already taking his leave. He took a step back, only to hear a squawk. The little black and white raven was looking at Franz, seemingly very confused.
The exit is more than a little clumsy, but it’s for the best. And Eduard can call off the search for the mysterious Aemilia.
Or at least, that is what Franz tells himself during the ride back.

So I just had to unfollow yet another account, this time over the fact that someone said do not let January 6th become the new 9/11.
I will always remember this day as the day the wisemen paid homage to Our Lord and recognized His kingship. I recognize His kingship, too. As a spiritual practice, I write letters to Him. And on Christmas, I wrote in my letter, "Happy birthday, my sweet King!"
However, let me remind people that three years ago today, five lives were lost because a President of the United States incited a mob to besiege the Capitol and try to stop members of Congress from doing their duty to the Constitution. Five lives were lost because a President could not accept the fact that he lost an election and wanted to hold onto his power, despite the fact that the American people declared loudly and clearly through their ballots that Joe Biden was the person they had chosen to govern.
The mob erected a gallows on Capitol Hill and planned to hang Mike Pence on it. A gallows! This is not how we carry out justice here in the United States, folks! We do not execute people without a fair trial. And hanging is an outdated method of execution here in the States.
We do not operate by mob-mentality and execute people without their guilt have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. A person is innocent until proven guilty. A mob, encouraged by the whims of a narcissistic would-be dictator, erected a gallows and intended to hang the then-Vice President of the United States. And what was his "crime?" Prioritizing his oath to the Constitution over his loyalty to a fake Christian demagogue of a POTUS. And the aforementioned POTUS would have been perfectly content to let Pence hang and rejoiced in Pence's hanging, if the mob had gotten that far. But thank God that they didn't.
So do not downplay the events of January 6th three years ago today.
I also do not appreciate blanket-name calling the powers that be in D.C. They are human, just like the rest of us.
In fact, Eduard Hapsburg, the Hungarian Ambassador to the Holy See, has talked about how Queen Elizabeth's funeral reminded him of a funeral tradition of his ancestors.
When Hapsburg monarchs died, they were brought to the church for the funeral and and a herald, accompanying the casket, would knock on the doors of the church. The presiding cleric would ask, "Who is it?"
The herald would answer with the monarch's name and then list his or her titles.
The presiding cleric would respond, "We do not know them."
The herald would knock on the church's doors again.
The presiding cleric would ask again, "Who is it?"
Once more, the herald would answer with the monarch's name and all their titles.
Once again, the presiding cleric would respond, "We do not know them."
The herald would knock on the doors of the church a third and final time.
The presiding cleric would ask for the third and final time, "Who is it?"
The herald would answer, "(Monarch's name), a poor sinner,"
The presiding cleric would then say, "Come in," and then the herald and casket were let into the church.
The whole point of this ritual was that despite how much power the monarch held while they lived, they were no better than the rest of us.
So while the powers that be in D.C. come and go, Pope Francis has said that no politician is too corrupt to be prayed for and suggested that we pray for them more than we praise or criticize them.
To me, that is a much better thing to do than calling them "swamp creatures."
As I said in my post about King Charles's coronation and free speech, people have the right to free speech. But free speech has consequences. And my consequence/boundaries for those who use the feast of the Epiphany to downplay what happened in D.C. three years ago is they will be unfollowed, especially if they say things like, "Do not let January 6th become the new 9/11."
To me, that is an enormous gesture of disrespect for the five people who lost their lives that day and a Vice President who was nearly hanged because an angry mob, incited by the whims of a narc who couldn't accept defeat in an election and threw sphaghetti at the wall in the hopes that something would stick, didn't want him to fulfill his oath to the Constitution. And I will not stand for such gestures of disrespect.
It's sad because I reblogged one of their posts about those chick tracts that some Christians leave as part of their evangelization. This same blogger who took the time to correct people who do that had to leave a post downplaying the Capitol insurrection and the fact that five people died that day.
And do you know how Pope Francis responded to the news of the siege on the Capitol when it when happened?
He said this:
youtube
"I send an affectionate greeting to the people of the United States of America, shaken by the recent siege on Congress. I pray for those who lost their lives, five, who lost them in those dramatic moments. I repeat that violence is self-destructive, always. Nothing is gained by violence and so much is lost. I appeal to the authorities of the country and to the entire population to maintain a lofty sense of responsibility in order to calm things down and promote national reconciliation and protect democratic values that are rooted in American society. " (emphasis mine)
And notice that the Holy Father didn't say a word about the fact that January 6th is the Epiphany. He didn't say a word about recognizing Jesus's eternal rule over investing attention in the political leaders that we chose. On the contrary, he encouraged every American to do their part to protect and promote democratic values. The Catholic Church supports democracy and democratic principles.
Jesus did not want those five people to die like that, and He certainly did not want an angry mob to try to hang Mike Pence.
So accusing the powers that be in D.C. of "fearmongering" is extremely disrespectful and I will not put up with such disrespectful accusations.
So while it is a good idea to bake a Kings cake, sing "We Three Kings," and go to church, another good way to honor our Lord is to remember those five people and make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Caring for the common good is also a good way to honor Jesus.

*#teamwork #runningtogether #onebody #manyparts #onemission #preachthekingdom #batman #robin* http://ChristianityOriginal.com/Proof After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them *two by two* ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. Luke 10:1. He said, “Follow me. Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:59-60. "Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body---whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free---and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don't need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don't need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it." 1 Corinthians 12:12-26.
