Angstpril Day Fifteen: Lost In My Mind

“Alan?” Roy pops his head into the next cubicle over. “Have you seen—Alan? Hey!”

Alan startles when Roy raps on his desk. His face turns red when he finally looks up.

“Sorry,” he says.

Roy snorts. He starts to ask what had him so distracted in the first place, but then he hears it—Lora and Flynn laughing together from somewhere down the hall. 

He bites back a frown.

Roy knows that Alan likes Lora. He’d planned on asking her out before Flynn beat him to it. ENCOM’s latest happy couple has been together for months now—and Alan is miserable.

“You’ve gotta stop torturing yourself,” Roy says.

“Yeah.” Alan looks at the screen instead of him. “I’m pathetic.”

“You’re not pathetic. You’re human, like the rest of us.”

As if that’s supposed to make him feel better.

“Did you need something?” Alan asks, eager to change the subject. 

“Uh, it can wait,” Roy says, looking at something to his left. Then, before Alan can respond, he escapes back to his own cube. 

Moments later, another face appears in the doorway.

“Good morning, Alan,” Lora greets. She leans against the partition, all casual grace, her hands cradling a coffee mug. 

She does this sometimes—stops by for just a moment before heading back downstairs. Alan smiles. It’s far too easy to smile at her.

“Good morning, Dr. Baines.” 

Her own smile warms as she watches him over the rim of her drink. 

“You can call me Lora, Alan.” 

“Good morning, Lora,” he says softly. She grins again, and then she’s gone. 

Alan waits until he hears her retreating footsteps to thunk his head against the desk. 

He’s in so much trouble.

It’s been broadly expressed but I absolutely adore how the novelization delves into Programs being a reflection of their users. In the sequence with Clu it makes sure to state explicitly that the way Flynn is hunched over his desk is the same Clu is hunched over the tank controls. Additionally,

I also love the descriptions of ENCOM as it exists as a corporate entity “eating up little companies as a shark does minows”. This is definitely because of the MCP but also a good show of massive tech conglomerate.

Additionally I love that it’s 100% confirmed that the cameras moving are the MCP. He’s in the security system watching all the human/users like mice in a maze - and has expressed interest in the laser breakthrough.

Also Alan and Lora are so sweet it’s actually- my heart, they’re adorable.

Just Like Old Times

Sam surprises you with a visit to the newly restored Flynn's Arcade.

Notes: This is my first Sam imagine. It's connected to some other imagines that are coming up, I just wanted to do this one first because it's cute. Reader is Alan and Lora's kid, but could easily be adopted if that works better for you! Enjoy ☺️

"You busy tonight?"

"Yeah, a little bit." Looking up at the home screen of your Wii, you smirked. "I've got a date with a little Italian plumber."

Sam chuckled from the other end of the phone. "Can Princess Peach wait a little longer to be rescued?"

"I don't know," you sighed, already shutting off the system and your television. "What do you have in mind?"

"Still got your helmet?"

Back when the two of you were still dating, and even before that, Sam used to take you out on his Ducati all the time. He'd gotten you your own helmet because even though he drove much more cautiously with you on the back, he still wanted you to be as safe as possible. "I think it's around here somewhere," you replied, trying not to betray that you still knew exactly where it was.

"See you in ten minutes." His motorcycle revved loudly before he hung up the phone.

Grinning, you jumped up from the couch and rushed to your closet to search for something other than the sweatpants and loose shirt you'd been wearing since you got home. Since you didn't have much time, you settled on a t-shirt and jeans look, and a hoodie on top to protect you from the wind. It wasn't like it was a date, so casual was just fine.

You took a minute to dig the old helmet out of the back of the closet, and you smiled at the sight of it. Sam had it painted in your favorite color, with a golden Triforce on the back. It brought back a lot of good memories.

With only a few minutes left, you fixed yourself up in the bathroom mirror and finally left to meet Sam.

You noticed him the moment you stepped out of the entrance to your apartment building. He sat on his bike, helmet off and resting in front of him. You tried to ignore the striking blue of his eyes and how the glow of the street lights played on his dirty blond hair.

Sam smiled when he saw you approaching. "You look great."

"I didn't keep you waiting too long, did I?" you asked as you took the spot behind him, avoiding the compliment.

"Don't worry, I only just got here." He put his helmet back on, and you did the same for the first time in years.

You wrapped your arms around his middle, instantly feeling right at home. This was getting a little too dangerous already. "Gonna tell me where we're going?"

"You'll see."

Sam started the bike back up and took off, smirking as he felt you hold on a little tighter. Riding with you was one of the many things that he'd missed. He remembered the first time he'd taken you out for a ride, back when you were both 15. Alan wasn't happy about it afterward, but your father's protests didn't keep you from regularly ending up on the back of his bike.

You rested your head against his back and closed your eyes, feeling the rushing wind and the rumble of the street beneath you. If anyone else were driving that motorcycle, you would've avoided it like the plague. But you trusted Sam with your safety, and with your life. There was no question about it.

Remembering that made it that much harder to stick to the idea of starting over again as friends. Spending more and more time with him had you craving it all, even though he'd broken your heart when he ended your relationship. Circumstances were much different than before, but you didn't want to jump into things. You wanted to take it slow for as long as you could manage, and thankfully, Sam had understood that.

You weren't sure exactly how much time had passed when Sam finally came to a stop and turned off the engine. "Here we are."

Pulling your helmet off, your eyes went right to the huge glowing sign that read FLYNN'S. You hadn't seen it lit up since you were six. Even the Tron billboard up top looked exactly the same, not faded and worn. "Whoa."

"You should see the inside," he said, taking off his helmet and standing up, placing it on the seat. "Come on."

You followed his lead, watching as he unlocked the door and opened it up to let you inside. The place was almost pitch black as you stepped in, the outlines of some of the arcade cabinets barely visible. "I can't see much of anything like this."

Sam walked further into the arcade. "Wait there."

Shoving your hands into your hoodie pocket, you did just as he said, and moments later, heard the flipping of a few switches.

After 20 years of abandonment, you'd expected the place to look dilapidated, covered in a thick layer of dust. But no, once everything turned on, Flynn's looked just the way it had in 1989. Neon signs on the walls, the arcade cabinets flashing with idle animations, and the jukebox blasting pure 80's nostalgia. Tears pricked at your eyes, and you couldn't help the huge grin on your face.

For a moment, you were six years old again.

Sam smiled as he watched you take the place in, the awe on your face making him feel even more pride. It'd been a long time since he'd seen you so happy.

He came to stand beside you, only adding to that feeling of nostalgia. "I hired some people to clean the place up and get the cabinets in working order. Grand opening's in about two weeks."

"Dad said you mentioned doing something with the arcade, but I wasn't expecting this."

Passing by the neglected arcade had always stung a bit. There were so many days where your parents would bring you and Jet by, and you and Sam would play games with his father. Then Kevin Flynn disappeared, and the place was shuttered, remaining only in your memories until that night.

"It just felt like the right thing to do." Like taking back ENCOM and actually doing something with his life. Like reconnecting with you.

"How many hours do you think we spent trying to beat your dad's high scores?"

Sam glimpsed the leaderboard on a nearby cabinet, his father's initials still firmly at the top. "Nowhere near enough."

You walked further into the arcade, Sam trailing behind. "So did you bring quarters, or are you just being a tease?"

"Me? A tease? Never."

A loud laugh left you as you made your way over to Space Paranoids, and Sam headed off to fetch the coins he'd prepared. You fiddled with the buttons, getting a bit of a feel for it again. You'd played some arcade games off and on in the last two decades, but Space Paranoids was not one of them. Hopefully, you weren't too rusty.

Sam returned, holding a cup full to the brim with quarters. "Now that's what I'm talking about!" You slid one coin into the machine and got into position.

Sam's heart grew warmer as he watched you play. You'd always been at your most adorable when you were singularly focused, your eyebrows furrowed and tongue poking out from between your lips. It took everything he had not to kiss you right then and there.

"Come on, come on, come on," you mumbled, shooting at the Recognizer. This was the last stretch, and while you surely wouldn't beat Flynn's score, you still wanted to do your best and show off a bit. Once the final enemy was destroyed, you didn't quite make it on the leaderboard, but to be fair, you did have some stiff competition.

You moved back from the cabinet and nodded towards it. "Your turn."

"No, thanks. This one's a bit too real for me now."

Sam had told you about 'The Grid' and how he'd found his dad and Quorra there. Apparently, Kevin Flynn had succeeded in his dream of a digital frontier and ended up trapped there, in a world much like the Tron game in the back of the arcade. He'd told Sam stories about it as a kid–which Sam had relayed back to you a few times–but they were just stories, right?

You bumped your shoulder into his playfully. "I think you're just scared you won't do as well as I did."

And though you'd met and already adored Quorra, the idea of her being a program living in the real world seemed completely impossible.

Part of you wondered if Sam might have been concussed while base jumping off ENCOM Tower, or maybe just had a bad acid trip or something. But whether or not an adventure on The Grid really did happen, you were just glad that it triggered something in him. Everyone who knew him could see how much better he was doing already.

He would be the first to admit that you were better at most video games than he was, given that you continued to play them regularly into your teens and adulthood, but he stepped into the open space anyway. "Alright, I'll give it a try," he said with a laugh, putting a quarter into the machine.

"Don't forget, it's all in the wrist."

"Man, that was the most fun I've had in a long time."

"Happy to help." Sam smiled, his arm casually resting over the back of your seat. After playing every game in the arcade, the two of you had decided to hang out in his dad's old office for a while. And he might have had an ulterior motive in getting you away from the loud music downstairs. "Not to ruin the mood, but I wanted to talk to you about something while we're here."

You placed your drink on the coffee table. "Uh oh. Should I be worried?"

"It's not bad, I promise." Sam ran a hand back through his hair, almost nervous. Would this be too much too fast? "Alan told me that you tried pitching a new games division a while back."

You'd talked about it off and on for years, but he'd had no idea that you'd actually brought it to the board until he began looking into more ways to change ENCOM for the better. Among other ideas proposed by employees, your father had informed Sam of yours, and he knew that it hadn't gone well.

"Oh, that?" There was a tinge of sadness that you couldn't hide from him, even though you tried to act nonchalant. "They practically laughed me out of the meeting. Told me that ENCOM Games went out the window a long time ago."

"Well, the new CEO happens to think it's a great idea." You could see the serious glint in his eyes as he continued. "I want you to be the head of game development for ENCOM."

In spite of the sincerity in his expression and tone, you laughed. "What?"

"We both know that operating systems aren't your passion. You got into programming to make games."

"Yeah, but I thought you were focusing on medical technology and research." He'd told you about ISOs, and how Quorra was one herself. How her DNA could change the world.

"ENCOM's a big company." Sam put his arm around your shoulder and gestured his other hand out in front of the two of you. "Come on, just picture it. An office that's not the size of a closet, with a great view of Center City. The power to make the games you've always wanted without having to answer to anyone. Except for me, technically, but I trust you completely."

Over the years, you'd showed Sam so many ideas and sketches for games that you wanted to make some day. Some fully fleshed out, others just interesting bits and pieces that you could expand on later. You had notebooks full of them, but you hadn't looked at any since the board shot you down. Sam knew better than anyone how much it all meant to you.

"I got on at ENCOM because I hoped things would eventually go back to how they were before. Over the years, it became more and more apparent that it wasn't happening. Then my pitch went to hell, and I gave up. I decided it was time to go and do what I've always wanted. But I was wrong. You're finally making ENCOM better, and I'd like to help you do it."

Sam needed all the help he could get, and he knew it. Thankfully, he had people he could trust. "We'll get you moved into your new office tomorrow."

He already had an office, which meant he must have already had space reserved for a new department, which meant..."You just assumed I'd say yes?"

"More like hoped."

"You almost missed your chance, you know. I was so close to being hired by Nintendo."

The idea that you were planning to leave Center City, especially now that you were in his life again, made his stomach drop. But if anyone deserved the chance to follow their dreams, it was you. He couldn't blame you for having written off a future at ENCOM. "...They would've been lucky to have you."

"I know," you replied with a shrug. "But now you're the one who's lucky to have me."

"That's old news."

Sam's bright blue eyes bore into yours, and you found yourself leaning in just a bit. His arm still rested around your shoulders, his fingertips brushing your arm and making your skin tingle even through the fabric. You glanced at his lips for a moment, and he started to move in to meet you. You could still remember the feeling of his mouth on yours as he held you impossibly close, making your heart pound in your chest every time.

The thumping drums of Separate Ways started up in the arcade, and you managed to break out of the spell. "We still had some quarters, right? We should go use them up."

Sam let out a breathy chuckle. "Yeah, that's a good idea." He would've been more than happy to stay up on that couch kissing you, but you obviously weren't ready for that, and he would never push it.

So, he gladly went back downstairs and played more games with you, just like old times.

tron fic wip round up - december 2021

ok well, this is going to be a short round up post since I haven’t had much time to actually write recently, whoops! but might as well do it anyway—i do kinda like looking back at these posts to map out my creative timeline, so here’s round three! (and please dont reblog this post, thank you!)

Creation Myth (Chapter 2, part of Gaia) ~ completed, and posted! Currently wrapping up chapter 3 and 4 simultaneously. 

BLACKOUT (part of Gaia) ~ no progress, but will pick up when Creation Myth is wrapped up.

Requeim ~ no progress, hope to pick this up again though because I enjoy the idea it gets to explore.

Creation Myth (Chapters 3, 4) ~ Quorra, part of the Gaia series

I’ve posted the two chapters of this already, and I’m currently working on the final two chapters side-by-side. Chapter 3 turned into an exploration of the Grid’s population density and program cultures, shown through Quorra! I think she’s an excellent lens of looking at the Grid’s history separated from ENCOM and Tron’s story. Chapter 4 is where we start getting into heavy AU timeline territory—this chapter is actually an insert from BLACKOUT with perspectives changed. Don’t want to spoil too much for that though as I’m still finalising that plot. Started ??? I’m not sure, sometime this February I think, work still in progress. Chapter 3 at 676 words, both chapters are going to be shorter than the previous two for sure.

Favorite excerpt so far: (Chapter 3)

The new Argon City quickly became Quorra’s favorite. It was built by the Sea, and became home to the best transport designers of the Grid. It was, admittedly, quite far away from Arjia, and Quorra was barely able to do much other running errands for Radia around the Grid to the other colonies. But when she did have time, she willed  herself to get lost amongst the innovative culture of cleverness and games.

It was Argonites who proposed the intercity light rail, for ease of transport. 

If she didn’t love them already, that would have done it.

Be Wary and Stay So ~ Kevin, Alan, Lora and... the members of Outpost 31? (Tron x The Thing crossover fic)

Ohhhh I am so excited to share this one!! For some reason, I spent the semester binging K/urt Russell movies in my free time and upon realising that The Thing came out in 1982, I had to make a Tron crossover. I was initially hoping to post this on Halloween, but I didn’t want to rush the fic. It’s nearly done and I’m wildly proud of it. What initially started as a Kevin Flynn/RJ MacReady crack fic turned into the most horrifying thing I’ve written and I love it kfdjhgskffd. Extra shoutout to the server peeps for encouraging me during my polar expedition hyperfixation months. Started Oct 2nd, work still in progress. Currently at 3.6k words!

Favorite excerpt so far:

“I’d like to tell you you’re gonna get off this ice hellscape and break it to her in person, but there is no way either of us are getting out of here without making sure that fucking thing is dead.” MacReady says, “Break the game, Kevin Flynn. If we don’t win, neither does it.” Flynn stiffens his lip. It stung, but MacReady was right.

biutyful. ~ Quorra

It’s kinda cheating to include this because it’s barely a fic but inspired by the latest C/oldplay album, I wanted to write about Quorra and the sunrise. I remember seeing a post years ago about how no matter what, sunsets would always be the most beautiful thing and seeing one was like seeing one for the first time because each one is unique, etc etc. It’s real short, I just missed writing fic :’) Started Nov 10th, work still in progress? Currently at 135 words.

Favorite excerpt so far:

Now, Quorra’s seen the sunrise more times than she can count on her fingers, more than she can keep track of, despite her internal promise to never forget the image of any of them. The sun remains in her world now, on the daily, as it does it’s job and she continues about hers. 

It’s at sunset one day when Quorra asks Sam again: What happens next?

The past few months have been so hectic, I can’t even believe there was a point in time I was publishing ~2 fics a month. I did actually publish two non-Tron fics, a Tango & Cash fic as well as a weird Escape from New York poetry dump (both inspired by the Russell film binge lol), both of which turned out much better than expected for random one-nighter fics! In terms of tronfic though, I’ve already got so many ideas, for Gaia or otherwise, that my focus once I have time is just to actually execute the ideas instead of coming up with more brand new stuff. I guess that’s it for now then! If you’re reading this, hope youre doing good :D

- Was a troublemaker toddler and everytime things got suddenly quiet Aiden fear rised, which developed into him trying to keep an eye on her whenever he could.

- Can only fall asleep if one of her fathers are around, mostly Hans

- Thanks to her unique magic, she's a beast at hide and seek and always finds everyone!

The triplets (Ellen x Leroy)

- They all call Flynn and Greg "uncles" even if they're not related

- Both Lenore and Lico unique powers are activated by their emotions, while Ludovico can only mimic what they hear

Aiden headaches probably rose up again in the beginning. But I do like that sleep headcanon fits with Aiden who had nightmares in the past when no one was around during his naps.

Three facts:

a ) Alan hates being called “Al.” He prefers to go by his name “Alan.” When someone calls him “Al,” he sees it as derogatory. To him, it is as though that person doesn’t value him enough to use his full first name, even though it’s only two letters longer. Everyone close to him knows better than to call him “Al.”

b )  Alan loves nature. His cubicle walls (& then later his office walls) are covered with pictures of natural scenes or buildings surrounded by nature. Alan even has a leafy plant that he has to keep trimmed enough that it doesn’t invade Roy’s work-space (but that’s never happened...), but he doesn’t keep it trimmed on his side. He prefers the wild/natural look. It’s a dream of his to go to a remote beach somewhere and just chill for a while or explore the surrounding area.

c )  Alan tends to be an organized person. His books are almost always neatly stacked on shelves in his cubicle (or office), along with the spices, herbs, and other seasonings he sometimes uses for his popcorn or other food. However, this doesn’t mean he cannot stand a mess (or is a compulsive cleaner). There are times when he gets so caught up in a project that he doesn’t take the time to tidy things up (until later or Lora comes to his rescue). His house also tends to be neatly organized, but it can, on occasion, get messy if a project is really troubling him. His office (& home) tended to become messy more often once Flynn entered his life, but Alan grows to appreciate it.

Fluff, Angst or Smut: Although I am of-age, I’ve never RPed smut, so I’m not very familiar with it. I’m curious as to how it would work, especially given some things are not permitted online (so how graphic is too graphic? Would a medical student’s textbook be too graphic?) - mostly to protect minors, but I think there are even restrictions on non-minors. Regardless, due to the nature of this muse and his relationships, it’s highly likely that I won’t be RPing smut with anyone so it probably doesn’t even really matter too much. All that to say I have no idea where it stands on my “preference list.” As for the others, “angst” vs. “fluff”... Well, they’re both fun, in different ways. I really enjoy writing both. Ah! That’s a hard one! I really enjoy angst, but it’s also really nice to have some happy in there as well (& it keeps the muses around better - too much torture without any kind of fun/reward makes muses grumpy and sometimes unresponsive - or they disappear for a while). I’d say probably “angst with some fluff thrown in.”

Salty asks: 1-27.

Assuming this is the fandom of your namesake. 

1. OTP that I just don’t get. Probably Sam/Tron. Not to say some folks can’t REALLY fucking rock it (see the “We Are Pilots” verse), but it takes a lot of work. Their only meeting in canon was in a duel to the death with the Program being brainwashed and crazy, and Sam has very little if any reason to even like the guy, even in a post-Legacy setup. 

2, Fandom OTP I only BroTP:  Probably Tron/Ram. Ram had too much chemistry with Flynn, and Tron was single-minded enough about Yori to put his deity on hold. While I can very easily see group marriage as a normal part of Program society, it’s not something I can see in canonical circumstances. 

3. Unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion? Nope. But if they trash my faves, I hope they can back up their dislike with a very good argument. 

4.  A NoTP for my fandom. Not touching Sam/Alan with a 10-meter Rod Primitive. The age gap for one, the paternal role Alan took for two, the fact Lora is not dead in this timeline third, the fourth is the possibility of OT3: Shall We Dance making this ship even more brain-breaking.

5. Has fandom ruined a pairing for me? Not in this fandom, but I’ve avoided the hell out of some shows because I saw the fandom for them was such a big ball of crazy that I wanted to avoid it like kryptonite. 

6. Has fandom made me enjoy a pairing I previously hated? I’m not sure if it’s a good thing, and I’m not sure I’d call it “enjoy,” but there are some Clu/”Rinzler” fics that almost make the whole thing come out as something marginally less squicky and more interesting than “sadist and his sex slave.” 

7. Anything I used to like but dislike now? Y’know, I kinda used to dig Flynn/Alan slash. But after I realized I could make a drinking game out of them (take a shot if they mention Lora, chug the whole thing if they mention Jordan - stay sober the whole night), they lost a lot of appeal. I’ll make an exception for “Shall We Dance” scenarios. Heck, I love Shall We Dance because it’s a very different matter if Lora’s aware and on board with the whole thing. Heck, if someone upgrades it to an Ot4 of “Shall We Dance With Jordan,” then I owe them a six-pack of top-quality beer or cane-sugar soda and my enthusiastic gratitude. 

8. Anon hate? Yes. Received it. But over politics, not fandom. It’s to be expected. The Galaxy Rangers list used to have “don’t talk to Allronix about politics” as one of the bylaws. 

9. Most hated character? Probably Pavel. He’s such a transparent slimeball with little in the way of interesting motivation. Tesler? While he’s a nasty piece of work, there’s wiggle room to argue that he’s doing what he’s doing for the good of the system and doesn’t like doing what he does. Sark? Incredible ham and definitely one note, but David Warner plays the best creeps ever.  (He out-creeped Malcolm McDowell, that’s near-impossible) 

10. Most disliked arc. Probably the Isos. I’m still not sure what they were, or why they were special or what was so great about them, or how they would change everything, aside from the implication they were partly biological. Which is great and all, but the way it was handled has an “organics rule, synthethics drool” vibe that is pretty insulting when everything else in the franchise shows that the Programs are just as capable of love, hate, morality, humor, and free will as the humans who built them. 

11. Unpopular character I like that the fandom doesn’t? I just had to have the bad luck…or the good luck…to latch on very hard to the Tron 2.0 characters. Good luck in that it’s unexplored territory. Bad luck in that I seem to be the only one who writes Mercury, or Crown, or I-No. 

12. Unpopular arc I like the fandom doesn’t? 2.0 again. What got me about it is that the 1982 and Legacy films dealt with malevolent AI who were cruel of other AI and wanted to extend the cruelty. 2.0 inverted it; the uncorrupted Programs were, with very few exceptions, wanting to protect themselves and their home. The corrupted Programs were driven insane by a User who embraced the worst parts of the role. And then you had F-Con who planned to crank that up even more so that they could rule both worlds from the shadows. It really needed to be explored more, as it was a great start. 

13. Unpopular opinion about a character: Sam Flynn kinda spooks me. He has no reason to be merciful or benevolent to Programs. As far as he saw, his dad believed in them, and they stabbed his dad in the back, kept his dad away from him, tried to kill him, tried to kill Quorra, killed all of Quorra’s people, and eventually killed his dad right in front of him. And he’s taking over command of a software company with barely any time to process that trauma.  It’s probably not going to end well for the Programs unless something intervenes.

14. Unpopular opinion about the fandom: They have very little interest in reclaiming the female characters from the margins, and that’s quite frustrating. Quorra and Paige get some fics here and there, but even those petered out. Yes, this fandom is VERY heavily skewed male, but you’ve got Quorra, Paige, Mara, Gorn, Lux, Yori, Lora, Gem, etc. in Legacy canon, and some great potential with Mercury, Ma3a, and Eva Popoff if you import from 2.0. I was hoping to see at least SOMEONE write up a fanfic about Jordan. What kind of woman could handle a brilliant, cheerful, crazy ball of energy like 80′s!Flynn?  

15. Unpopular opinion about the canon: Legacy is very difficult for me to watch. Even though it totally brought the whole thing back from the dead, it’s just frustrating to watch. Not to say everyone didn’t bring their A-game to it, but it took everything that made the first film so much fun and destroyed it, ending up as a depressing waste where everyone loses, and Dillinger Jr is just waiting in the wings to cause even more trouble. 

16. If I could change anything about the canon, what to change? Tron 2.0 totally happened. It would not be hard to come up with a workaround for Ma3a that keeps Lora alive. There’s probably about three or four ways I could come up with other than the made of crack one I’ve got going in my fics. 

17. Instead of X happening, I’d go with Y: If you want something other than “instead of 2.0 being thrown out the airlock, it’s part of canon,” I would have loved to see Sam get rescued by Bartik’s crew (Bonus points if Yori’s running the damn thing) and then meet up with his dad and Quorra. That way, there could have been a little more complexity to the Grid situation and a way to avoid the whole “Programs are evil!” thing Legacy ended up with.

18. Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased? Shipping, IMO is shorthand for schools of character interpretation. Someone who ships Quorra/Sam is going to have a different take than someone who ships Quorra/Zues, or Quorra/Paige. They’re all looking at the same data, but the interpretation of the data is going to vary.   

19. One thing I dislike most about my fandom: It’s a back alley of the 80′s that its own company barely wants to admit they did. This makes canon and newcomers a little hard to come by.

20. Purest ship in the fandom. Tron/Yori was my first OTP. They’re still my OTP, because 82!Tron was such a sweet, earnest dork and Yori was such an adorable, sneaky badass. Post-Legacy? It’s going to be one heck of a climb no matter which guess you take about Yori’s fate (And seriously? Morgan got gypped), but having those two limp off into whatever digital sunset there is would be the closest we get to a happy ending that’s canon-compatible.

21. Crack ships? A crack ship for the sake of a crack ship is a “no thanks!” But there are ships that look like someone did them on a three-drink dare that actually manage to work. I’m thinking to KOTOR fandom where someone made a REALLY awesome case for Canderous/Bastila that should not have worked and totally did. 

22. Popular character I dislike: It’s not so much “dislike” as “I’m not sure what to make of them.” Really wanted some development on Sam. Quorra got Evolution and a nice episode of Uprising, but Sam…he’s still a bit of a blank to me. 

23. Unpopular character I adore:  I especially latched on hard to Jet Bradley after reading the Ghost in the Machine comic because he had clearly done a lot of thinking about what being a User means in that setting, and was bringing up points no one else bothered with. As such, he makes an excellent foil and walking deconstruction fleet while still being, ostensibly, one of the good guys. 

24. Would I recommend Tron to a friend? Only with a ton of disclaimers. This was made in the EARLY 80′s, by people who apparently had no fucking idea what they were doing, and Disney probably signed off on it while under the influence of something. But the combination ends up as something inexplicably brilliant and probably launched thousands of computer animation careers and hundreds more IT careers. 

25.   How would I end it? I’ve got fics in mind for it. I kitbash 2.0 and Legacy shamelessly. The ending I have in mind? Well, Alan and Lora end up giving up their lives in analog to rebuild the Rome Flynn started. Jet ends up dedicating his life to serving the Programs and goes a bit native. Mercury and Tron act as the primary “knights” of Alan and Lora. Sam and Quorra handle much of the rest in the analog world, slowly trying to open up the world and make it ready for the revelation of the digital one. And Yori runs a reformation of the Program religion so that they are prepared to accept the Users as fallible beings who are still powerful, but less “worship as deity” and more “we depend on one another - don’t screw it up.” 

26. Most shippable character? Probably Flynn. I can see him as a fellow who would (prior to the coup) enjoy himself and his opportunities to the fullest, including trying anything twice sexually. 

27. Least shippable character: Probably Esomond Baza. He’s a coward with so little self-esteem, self-respect, or a moral compass that he needs a few months of therapy before even thinking of a date.

A tragikus sorsú karaktert, Talisa Maegyrt alakító színésznőről kevesen tudják, hogy nagyon-nagyon híres nagyapával büszkélkedhet. Oona Chaplinnek hívják, innen nem is nehéz kitalálni, kiről van szó. Oona nagyapja a némafilmek egyik legmeghatározóbb alakja, Charlie Chaplin, édesanyja pedig a legendás filmes negyedik házasságának gyümölcse, szintén színésznő Geraldine Chaplin. Az 1986-ban született Oona már fiatalon balett-, salsa- és flamenco órákat vett, 15 évesen pedig ösztöndíjjal bekerült a skót Gordonstoun School dráma tagozatára. Innen egyenes út vezetett a londoni Royal Academy of Dramatic Art falai közé, ahol a színésznő 2007-ben diplomázott. Az HBO 2012-ben szerződtette a Trónok harcába, ahol egy olyan karaktert kellett megformálnia, aki eredetileg nem szerepelt a népszerű fantasy regényekben. A sorozat alkotói az íróval közösen döntöttek úgy, hogy a könyvekben szereplő Jeyne Westerling helyett egy teljesen új romantikus szálat írnak Robb Stark számára. A török származású német színésznő pornósként kezdte, aztán 16 felnőttfilm leforgatása után 2002 meghozta számára az áttörést, megkapta a Fallal szemben című török-német film főszerepét. A mozi sikerét követően Kekkili játékfilmekben és több sorozatban is szerepet kapott, majd 2010-ben a HBO felajánlotta neki Shae szerepét a Trónok harcában. Esmé a Trónok harca három évadjában, összesen tizennégy epizódban alakította az örömlány, Ros karakterét, aki már rögtön az első epizódban meztelenül kényeztette a királyi kompánia tagjaként Winterfellbe érkező Tyriont. Bianco a Trónok harca előtt modellként és kabarészínészként tevékenykedett. Érdekesség, hogy Talisához hasonlóan Ros figurája sem szerepel a regényben, és a sorozatban is csak egyetlen epizódban tűnt volna fel, de Bianco alakítása annyira meggyőző volt, hogy további jeleneteket írattak számára. Fotó: playbuzz.com 7. Melisandre – Carice van Houten. A Vörös papnő a Trónok harca második évadában tűnt fel először, és ha minden igaz, az utolsóban is szerepelni fog. A holland színésznő 21 évesen kezdte filmes pályafutását a Het Labirynt című sorozatban, számos tévéfilmben és nagyjátékfilmbéli szerepe után pedig hazájának legismertebb színésznőjévé vált. Szerepelt a Valkűrben, amelyben Tom Cruise feleségét játszotta, de láthattuk Clive Owen oldalán a Betolakodókban is. Az HBO 2011-ben válogatta be a Trónok harcába, azóta a széria egyik kulcsszereplőjévé vált, aki komoly eséllyel pályázhatna a Trónok harca legtöbbet meztelenkedő szereplőjének díjára. A cseppet sem szégyellős angol színésznő a Trónok harca második évadában tűnik fel először, és a hatodikig húzza. Akkor azonban a Tyrelleket Cersei csapdába csalja és egy egész templomot robbant fel, ezzel Margaery és testvére, Loras halálát (is) okozva. Natalie a londoni Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art diákjaként szerzett diplomát, hat hónappal később pedig már szerepet kapott a Heath Ledger főszereplésével készült Casanovában. A színésznő 2007-ben megkapta Anne Boleyn szerepét a Tudorok című történelmi sorozatban, innen pedig egyenes út vezetett a Trónok harcáig. A Trónok harca legvagányabb csaja, Ygritte egy Falon túli vad, aki szerelembe esik Havas Jonnal, ám a vörös szépség és babaarcú választottja fájdalmasan kevés közös időt kap a sorozatban. Ygritte-el az Éjjeli Őrség egyik tagjának nyila végez, Havas Jon karjaiban hal meg a 4. évadban. Utolsó mondata is az, amit megannyiszor ismételgetett Jonnak, amikor az nem értette meg őt: “Nem tudsz te semmit, Havas Jon.” Az életben sokkal jobban alakult kettejük sztorija Kit Harington ugyanis tavaly nyáron feleségül vette Rose Lesliet. 2017 decemberében jegyezték el egymást, és Aberdeenshire-ben mondták ki a boldogító igen, Rose édesapjának kastélyában. Sansa Stark a Trónok harca első hét évada alatt komoly átalakuláson ment keresztül, igazi túlélő, ahogy teltek az évek és sokasodtak a terhek, úgy lett egyre vagányabb. A Sansát megszemélyesítő Sophie Turner komoly rajongótáborra tett szert nem utolsó sorban bájos külsejének – hamvas bőrének, igéző kék szemeinek – köszönhetően. A hírek szerint a 8. évadban úgy láthatjuk majd Sansát, ahogy eddig még soha: Sophie Turner nemrég nyilatkozott arról, hogy a Mások fenyegetése miatt Sansa új oldaláról mutatkozik be, amelyet az öltözködése is tükrözni fog. A lányt eddig arról ismerték a nézők, hogy hercegnőként, majd politikai vezetőként viselkedett, az utolsó hat rész azonban mindenkit meglephet. “Most viseltem először páncélt a sorozat forgatása alatt. Mindig is vágytam arra, hogy Sansa megmutassa a keményebb oldalát és stílust váltson. A 8. évadban ő lesz Deres harcosa!” – mondta el a 23 éves Turner, aki hozzátette, vastag bőrből készült páncélt visel majd az Éjkirály elleni ütközet miatt. Cersei – Lena Headey. A sorozat legkeményebb nője, egy igazi badass. Rideg, ravasz, szadista és gyönyörű. A Trónok harca egyik legfontosabb karaktere, akit Lena Heady formál meg. A színésznő alakításáért háromEmmy- és egy Golden Globe-jelölést is kapott a legjobb női mellékszereplő drámai tévésorozatban kategóriában. Édesanyja és édesapja is brit, ő maga azonban Bermudán született, miután rendőr apja akkoriban ott állomásozott. A későbbi színésznő ötéves volt, amikor a család visszaköltözött Nagy-Britanniába. Tizenhétévesen pár iskolatársával együtt előadott egy darabot, itt figyelt fel rá egy ügynökség, és még abban az évben meg is kapta első filmszerepét a Lápvilágban, ahol olyanokkal játszhatott együtt, mint Jeremy Irons vagy Ethan Hawk. Nathalie Emmanuel alakítja, aki gyönyörű vonásait francia édesapjának és jamaicai édesanyjának köszönheti. Tízévesen már a West End deszkáin áll, ő formálta meg Nalát Az oroszlánkirályban. Pár éve a vegán életmódot és diétát követi, nem is jön zavarba, ha le kell dobni a textilt a forgatásokon. Ki más lenne az első? Clarke-ot 2015-ben előbb a GQ magazin, majd az Esquire is a Föld legvonzóbb nőjének választotta. A khaleesi, a Sárkányok Anyja, a Hét Királyság jog szerinti trónörököse fehér fürtjeivel, vastag, érzéki ajkaival nem csak Khal Drogót, Daario Naharist, Ser Jonast és Jon Snowt igézte meg, hanem férfi nézők millióit is. Emilia Clarke a napokban azért került a lapokba, mert hosszú évek után most először beszélt arról, hogy 2011-ben koponyaűri vérzése volt, amibe majdnem belehalt. Rettegve csinálta végig a sorozat 2. évadát – most ő az agyvérzés utáni rehabilitáció kampányarca. Az interjúiban mindig mosolygós és folyton bolondozó Emilia Clarke ezúttal egy nagyon komoly témáról beszélt a többmilliós rajongótáborának az Instagram-oldalán. Ő lett a Same You Charity kampányarca, ami arra igyekszik felhívni a figyelmet, hogy a sztrók, az agyi érkatasztrófa és a központi idegrendszer többi súlyos betegsége esetén nemcsak az menthet életeket, ha időben felismerik a tüneteket, hanem a beteg rehabilitációja is legalább ugyanilyen fontos dolog. A brit filmes, Jeanie Finlay egy éven át követte nyomon aTrónok harcaforgatását, és eddig ismeretlen információkhoz is hozzájutott.
