Between Control, Chaos and Evolution: Uncovering the Depths of Mew's Essence.

I am convinced that the fandom is now divided between:

Those who think that Mew is a manipulative villain and hate him for it.

Those who think that Mew is the cliché of the naive and inexperienced boy and hate him for it.

Those who recognize that Mew is a complex character (neither completely bad nor completely good) and appreciate him for it.

If EP4 has taught us anything, it's that Mew isn't as manipulative as everyone thought. And, in an effort to continue to hate on the character (maybe because Ray is in love with him and that intervenes in SandRay's relationship or because they hate the actor, not sure), people start labeling Mew as "naive", " cliché”, “flat” or “boring”. I've even seen people saying they don't like Mew because they know someone like him in real life and they don't like that person, but I've also seen people genuinely confused because they still can't understand Mew or his actions. In my opinion, there's nothing further from reality than saying that Mew is a "flat" or "boring" character. And, no, we don't just appreciate the fact that he's good at setting boundaries, he's also obsessed with the idea of control and he's full of contradictions (like all human beings). So, let's dive into Mew's mind by analysing his complexities, control quirks, emotional balancing acts and his relationship with other characters.

Let's start by addressing some of the topics that are usually associated with Mew. These topics are part of the general consensus about the character but no one has bothered to explain them from scratch.

1. Unraveling Mew: Control and a Glimpse into OCPD.

As many people noticed, the need for control is inherent in Mew's personality. One of the first pieces of information about Mew is that he's frequently "dragged" to the bar. Still, he's the one who decides when he and his friends leave. Therefore, we can conclude that Mew isn't "dragged" against his will but he himself is the one who allows this to happen. In the kitchen scene, Mew claims that he knew Top's true intentions and that's why he allowed him into his apartment. A few minutes later, he tells Top that he can't have sex with him.

The idea of control is not only associated with controlling situations (Mew allows himself to be dragged to the bar but he decides when to leave, he allows Top into his apartment but he decides when to stop him) but also to control himself. We can see Mew's self-control and determination in two situations: when he's the only one of his friends who doesn't drink alcohol at the bar and when he agrees to sleep with Top without having sex with him. The reasons are clear: Mew doesn't drink alcohol because he doesn't want to loose control. Mew doesn't have sex with Top (because he's demisexual and) because he thinks he needs to know more about the subject to feel ready. In order to change that, he goes to the library and buys a sex related book.

Mew doesn't do anything he doesn't want to and he doesn't participate in situations where he doesn't feel in control. For example, in Mew and Ray's call scene in EP1, when Ray starts questioning his friend about why he's with Top, Mew shows who's in control of the situation and (in a very obvious way) avoids answering his questions. Mew establishes the boundaries and, to make them clearer, he's the one who ends the call leaving Ray talking alone.

In close relationship with Ray, Mew's determination and need for control translate into responsibility for his friends and acquaintances, that's why he may be perceived as a “mother figure” so to speak. Mew is very good at fulfilling this role because it fits perfectly with his personality. He's loving, responsible and strict (the pics represent these characteristics in the same order). Therefore, it's no coincidence that Mew attracts people with mommy or daddy issues (like Top, Ray and maybe Boston).

Mew's need for control can easily pass for a high sense of responsibility but can also be caused by the presence of a personality disorder like the Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). What is the difference between Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)? You can read more about OCPD and OCD here but, meanwhile, I will provide a brief definition and differentiation of the two disorders.

OCPD involves a generalised pattern of perfectionism, orderliness, and control in an individual's personality. People with OCPD tend to be extremely meticulous, focused on rules and details, and have an excessive need to control their environment. This disorder is more related to enduring personality traits and is considered ego-syntonic, which means that the person usually sees these traits as desirable and consistent with their identity.

OCD is characterized by the presence of obsessions (intrusive and distressing thoughts) and compulsions (repetitive behaviour performed to relieve anxiety associated with the obsessions). People with OCD recognize that their obsessions and compulsions are irrational, which makes them ego-dystonic, that is, contrary to their own will.

Some of the features that suggest Mew might have OCPD are:

Extreme need for perfection and control over his environment and interpersonal relationships: Mew keeps his environment tidy and clutter free. His house is always immaculate, with no objects out of place. At the same time, Mew shows a strong need to control in his relationships. He sets clear and rigid boundaries as to when and how to move forward in his relationships.

Obsessive fixation on rules, lists, and details that are minor: Mew has a list of the characteristics of his ideal boyfriend in which he sets rigid criteria. Mew's insistence that his boyfriend-to-be meet all the characteristics on his list could suggest a perfectionist tendency.

Intimacy avoidance and reduced emotional expression: Mew puts up emotional barriers in his relationships, such as when he tells Top he doesn't want to have sex with him to avoid getting too emotionally involved. He also sets boundaries with his friends, such as when he tells Ray that he won't always be there to save him in drunken situations. Mew tends to avoid showing his true emotions, especially in situations where he feels vulnerable. That's why he can give the impression of being detached or cold.

Difficulty empathizing with others and/or maintaining intimate relationships: Mew shows a lack of empathy with Ray when he makes him feel bad about having problems with alcohol, for example. The lack of empathy can impact directly in Mew's relationships.

Rigidity and inflexibility with regards to morals, ethics, values: Mew's perception is very inflexible. Either you're like Boston (promiscuous) or you're not. If you're not like Boston you don't have one-night stands. You “loose” your virginity only if there's penetration, the other doesn't count. Also, no sex until boyfriends.

Extreme dedication to work: since Mew doesn't have a job, this can be related to his academic life. Mew is a very dedicated and responsible student.

2. Balancing Acts: boundaries and manipulation.

Mew is, definitely, the one in control in his relationship with Top (although there's a constant dispute over who maintains control and the monopoly of power, generating a fluctuating power dynamic). This is much more obvious in Top and Mew's date after the public proposition, in which Mew tries to regain the control he lost (decision-making power) with his words and with his body language. Note how Mew was cornered by Top at first but everything he said pushed Top away. At some point, they were at the same distance but Mew didn't stop until he cornered Top physically and verbally. Power dynamics generate a constant fight and, in this case, it can also be perceived as a physical fight to manage the spaces that corner the other person.

In the dance scene (EP1), Mew dances while looking straight ahead almost all the time, even though he sees Top next to him at one moment. He only faces Top when he takes his hand. And, in the cuddling scene (EP1), he turns to his side of the bed and expects Top to hug him first. Mew knows exactly what to do to obtain the expected and desired reaction, this satisfies his need for control and provides a sense of comfort and security.

Mew satisfies his need for control through two mechanisms: Establishing barriers and influencing people (which is nothing more than a form of emotional manipulation, but we'll talk about that in a moment).

Communicating boundaries with clarity and conviction is a healthy practice which can help someone feel more comfortable and avoid anxiety. It makes people feel in control because it guarantees that there won't be any threatening stimuli in the environment. Mew sets boundaries all the time. For example, when he tells Ray that he won't help him every time he's drunk, when he tells Ray that if he wants to remain his friend he shouldn't kiss him or think about him romantically anymore or when he tells Top that he doesn't feel comfortable having sex with him.

To subtly influence people to act the way you want or AKA emotional manipulation, it's the unhealthy way to have control. It decreases anxiety because it helps to avoid threatening stimuli from the environment but, needless to say, it's unethical. The best example of this is the scene where Mew and Top discuss drug use. A healthy way to stay in control would be something like this: "Top, I'm not comfortable with you using drugs. Let's end our relationship, at least until you quit drugs because of your own decision”. But this is not what happened. The unhealthy way to maintain control is what actually happened: "Top, I don't like you doing drugs. My future boyfriend shouldn't be an addict. However, it's your life and do whatever you want”. See the difference? Not yet? In Top and Mew's date (EP2) something similar happened but without manipulation. Mew told Top that he wasn't his ideal type, Top asked him what the characteristics of his ideal type were but Mew didn't answer. This is because he knew it could influence Top to act differently, to act the way he wanted to.

There's a fine line between open communication and emotional manipulation and it's a matter of perception to choose which of these two situations is actually occurring in this scene. I think it'll also depend on whether you think Mew has an ulterior motive to convince Top or if he's selfless. If you're guided by the idea that Mew only wants the perfect boyfriend and not Top, you probably think he manipulated him because of his desire of perfection. If you're guided by the idea that Mew appreciates Top and cares about his safety, you probably think he didn't manipulate him. But I think it's very obvious that Mew subtly influenced Top's decision and maybe it was intended.

Because of the recent discussions about "Mew is so naïve if he thinks Top is going to stop consuming in exchange for sex. Why did he came up with that idea? So disappointing”, I feel with the necessity to say that Mew never suggested the rewards. Top suggested the rewards in both cases (the cookie scene and the the drug use scene). Mew accepted but, even so, he established clear boundaries (also, because Mew dealt with Ray, he knows that an addict isn't easy to deal with and things aren't resolved so easily). Mew is still inflexible. Again, the need for control is inherent in Mew's personality.

I know this isn't about Top but let's address this topic quickly. Why does Top feel he's owed rewards when he does something right (keep in mind that Top would stop consuming as a favor to Mew, not for himself)? This emotional blackmail comes from a place of deep insecurity, as you can imagine. Top is constantly looking for proof that he's doing things well and that he's appreciated. Instead of communicating honestly and trusting that he's loved and valued, Top constantly seeks validation. It's like a way to win affection and avoid being abandoned in the short term (very influenced by his abandonment issues rooted in his trauma, if you ask me). Similar to animals or babies, after getting a reward, they will expect to get rewards every time they do something right as a sign of satisfaction from the owners or guardians.

3. The Paradox of Mew: Superiority, Insecurity, and Evolution.

“Superiority complex” is a psychological term that describes an exaggerated attitude or belief that one is superior or better than others in certain aspects, abilities, or characteristics. Often, it manifests itself through condescending, arrogant, or contemptuous attitudes toward others.

Some of the features that suggest Mew might have a superiority complex are:

Condescending attitude: The first time we see signs of a superiority complex on Mew's part is in EP1, when Mew tells Top that “he isn't like Boston". In the Mew language, not being like Boston means not being promiscuous and not having one-night stands. Mew's condescending attitude indicates that he believes himself superior to Boston because he's someone "pure" or someone with "values." Mew also shows traits of condescence when dealing with Ray, this time believing himself superior due to his ability to self-control (something Ray doesn't possess).

Lack of empathy: related to the previous point. We already talked about this in section number one.

Constant comparison: With the purpose of emphasizing one's own superiority. Mew compares himself to Boston and also compares himself to Top's exes (beginning of EP2), as he thinks that he's the one that will break the three-month rule.

Self-image defense: Mew vigorously protect his self-image from any perceived threat. There are several examples of this. For example, (in EP1) when Cheum says that Mew finally got a boyfriend, Mew corrects her by telling her that it's not true and that he didn't even have sex with Top (this is a threat to his self-image of purity). In EP3 Mew, again, stresses that he isn't Top's boyfriend after the public statement (it would be against Mew's values to date someone who didn't give him the option to refuse, this is a threat to his self-image of control).

According to the doctor and psychotherapist Alfred Adler in his theories about psychological complexes, the superiority complex is “an unconscious neurological mechanism, in which the individual tries to compensate for his feelings of inferiority, highlighting those qualities in which he excels". This is consistent with the new facet we started to see from Mew in EP4. Mew starts to ask some questions that should be asked at the beginning of a relationship and not three months later. At the same time, he begins to feel insecure and threatened by Beam.

Mew starts to show his vulnerability and insecurities. Insecurities caused by what once gave him an exaggerated sense of superiority: his “naivety”/“purity” and lack of experience. The bookstore scene (EP1) is also an example of this, as Mew actively seeks to change that "naivety" or "lack of experience (what made him proud and “increased his value") through reading and learning. However, Mew was always inexperienced compared to Top, why does he feel insecure after three months of relationship? Simply because Mew is starting to be emotionally invested in his relationship with Top. Remember, Mew already warned us about how he lost self-control once he fell in love (EP1).

Instead of the superiority complex disappearing, it may become more complex and ambiguous. Mew might be struggling internally with his insecurities and his desire to maintain his image of superiority, while also feeling more vulnerable and anxious because he's falling in love. This could manifest itself in contradictory behaviours and an evolving perception of self while trying to maintain control.

I suppose my position regarding Mew has been clear, but yes, I think he's an extremely interesting and complex character. I could go on for hours talking about him and analysing every detail of his personality. This was supposed to be an analysis of EP4 but I didn't want to take a lot of things for granted. Tell me if you want me to talk about any other specific topic!

Which Sonic characters would you say are the hottest preds?

Tails is always sort of my default when it comes to preds among the Sonic cast, for a lot of reasons. Personal bias for one. Foxy bias. That also means he's a species that is much higher up on the food chain than basically everyone else in the cast aside from Vector. So he always feels very naturally befitting for that role, to me.

But honestly I can imagine effectively every single member of the Sonic cast as either pred or prey, given the scenario. I could even imagine a scenario with Charmy Bee guzzling down the preys lol. They could all eat or be eaten by one another, in my mind. Though I do tend to prefer imagining that it's a different universe or setting depending on who's filling what role, since I'm personally not very inclined to free vore all everybody can eat or be eaten by anybody type settings.

In terms of characters that I think lend to being preds the best in terms of personality, I'd say Eggman is probably the top since he's already got so many canonical quotes which you can easily slap over a vore pic and it would fit that context without needing to change a single word. I mean, they'd have to be fatal vore pics, which I personally do not enjoy, but I mean still come on.

Werehog is also a good fit for it, being the howling stretching beasty boy and all. Just let those hungry urges run loose for a bit, as a treat~

Oh a pretty common scenario I tend to go back to is Knuckles as the guardian swallowing up folks who arrive on Angel Island. Like an alternate version of Sonic 3 where when Sonic andor Tails show up, Knuckles the pent up tribal island stud just seduces and swallows the interloping boy(s) right up, patting his bulging ab toned belly and belching as he sauntering back to the shrine gut sloshing with every step<3

Rouge I think would also be inclined to being pred, maybe swallowing up security guards when she's sneaking into a place. Or gulping folks down for the sake of holding them for ransom. Or just being a general vamp and teasing or taunting folks she's trying to sweet talk with mawshots and stuff like that. Imagine this whole scene but Rouge is licking her lips and patting her growling belly while talking to Tails. She's got the chops for it, I think.

Vector and Big as well feel like natural preds, given their body types. I guess I don't personally tend to think of them in the front of my mind very often, they're not incredibly high on my list of characters that hook my interest. But given their size and species and with the right scenario their personalities can be very inclined for eating folks up too. Vector maybe swallowing up a client who welshes him on a job payment for example. And maybe Big having a dry spell when it comes to fishing so he swallows someone up to keep him fueled for the long hours of sitting by the lake, maybe falling asleep at some point and forgetting they're in there even after he does start catching fish, so they end up spending more than a few days churning in Big's belly along with some fried salmon piling in ontop of them.

Those are the ones that come to the top of my head when trying to think of which ones out of the cast seem to fit the best as natural preds in terms of personality. But like I said I can imagine every member of the cast as a pred lol. Sonic swallowing someone up while out on a morning job. Silver using his telekinesis to lift someone up and dunk them down his throat. Blaze having snackrifices brought to her to be a royal meal while she's doing paperwork at her desk. Ect.

for one, he is very clearly wearing clothes based on 19th century cuts and styles, which had much wider cut sleeves in general than modern fits:

these are examples of pre-Victorian cuts, from the mid-late 1700s through about 1830. here's an example of a later victorian style:

you can see the sleeves are a little less Billowy than they are in the Georgian cut, but they're still pretty loose! whereas Emmrich's are very tight (as an animator i'm guessing this is in part bc Big Poofy Sleeves are hard to animate! they need Physics!)

my second reason for saying they're Wrong is the fact that he's wearing sleeve garters (the straps on his upper arms). i wear sleeve garters(which are actually in my case just scrunchies i bought at dollar tree hashtag broke bitch) at work when i wear historical fashion, because i work both with things like polish that can stain my beautiful white shirt, and very fast dangerous buffing wheels that could catch the sleeves.

you don't need sleeve garters with modern sleeves, because they're tight fitting and not overly long the way looser billowy sleeves are. sleeve garters keep your sleeves out of the way when you're doing something messy, or when they would hamper fine movement (so it makes sense why Emmrich would want them! necromancy can get messy) but his sleeves aren't going to get in the way because they fit too snugly!

Stature, motion, road, armor, bling, hair for whoever you choose!

*cracks knuckles* time to invent a modern Audra AU already. Something something modern day vampire, is working for/is the child of "Godwyn the Golden" as one of his Death Knights (personal guards and private military type thing). Godwyn while being a vampire is very public facing, runs a huge business(not sure what kind) all to fund the other part of his business, the acquisition of and protection of objects/relics/entities/information/sometimes taking out targets/etc that would make his particular group of vampires more powerful and more protected, willing to work with anyone (at least in private) to accomplish that. Audra also, generally (both in ER and modern) does not give a shit about gender, theyre "far too dead to give a damn", call them whatever pronouns you want, and they will dress and present how they want. (Also yes Audra still had lightning magic)

Stature - What's your OC's body type? How tall are they? Do they wear clothing to accentuate their look or do they try to mask it?

Fit, not overtly super buff, but muscular. About 6'5". The clothing they wear is mostly to afford them full range of motion while still looking nice, whether that be suits/dresses/casual clothes (though they do indulge in dressing in more normal clothes from time to time, rather than keep up the refined appearance a vampire, and guard to Godwyn one would expect, it's a guilty pleasure)

Motion - How does your OC move? How does their clothing help or hinder their range of motion? Are they flexible, coordinated, clumsy?

Audra moves with purpose, every step calculated to get them where they need to be, and to the destination they seek, whether that be a physical place, or with their claws in your chest. They are exceptionally coordinated, each step, even in combat feeling intentional, almost graceful at times.

Road - What does your OC wear while traveling? Do they have high-quality equipment, or are they making do? What does their gear look like?

Depends on the travel. Business or food/hunting or pleasure? Business depends on whether it's being a guard for Godwyn, or accomplishing a mission. Food/hunting, they'd likely forgo modern clothing in favor of things they used to wear (besides their armor) yknow old vampire clothing, refined and macabre. *pure* pleasure, not caring about any eyes on them... sleeveless hoodie, tank top, shorts/capris. And yes no matter the situation, their clothing is WELL taken care of and high quality

Armor - What kind of armor does your OC wear? Is it well kept? Bonus: where does it come from? Is there a story behind it?

So, technically they have two sets of armor. The old armor they don't wear anymore, basically just a cleaned up/complete/full version of the Death Knight set from ER. Aaaaand the more, modern... tactical/military/black-ops kinda stuff (yes, their modern stuff still has a full skull mask), we do not know much about modern stuff so, apologies for being vague X3. Both sets are well kept and well maintained, with Audra even stitching up any rips or tears when they aren't in combat. As for where they came from, well they've been alive for a LONG time, and have been leader of the Death Knights as both a knight, and in this more modern age where knights aren't around. They've needed armor always, and it's been graciously provided by their benefactor and lord

Bling - What jewelry does your OC wear? Does it have any meaning?

Not much honestly, mostly just a pin/badge, it's, it's just the symbol for the dragon cult incants in ER lmao, black and bright and shiny gold with a ruby lightning stake (pics for example, the real thing would be fully colored obviously lol)

Hair - How does your OC wear their hair? Does it have some kind of meaning?

Partially braided, ending about halfway down in a loose ponytail, often worn over one shoulder. Not really any meaning, we just thought it'd look cool XP

Sorry I know we shouldn’t give Capt and her crew any time of day but this point out some inconsistencies. First they were the ones to claim it finished in November based on a crew member then changed it to Dec based on a hotel staff comment. Test her it’s not even her information what’s to test.

So just goes to show they do in fact know nothing about the shitty movie they can to not be interested in.

Now don’t get me started on the immigration status as someone who has worked with many different types of visa nothing is as straight forward as it says on the website. Every situation is different. Example a foreign national living in LA married her American fiancé in PT and then travelled back to the US within a month and has travelled in and out of the country since. They got their green card 6 months after their marriage. (any guesses who🤭) Then you have 2 American celebrities marrying foreign actress in 2 ceremonies in US and overseas. One married in Vegas then travelled to France for another ceremony before return US and again traveling in and out of the US. Another married overseas first and once again travelled back to the US soon afterwards and continued to travel. I don’t remember anyone questioning their visa status and I know some just refuse to acknowledge what visa AB had at the time because it doesn’t fit their narrative hence why they scream she has no US reps. (funny her last 2 movies are by US production companies)As for marriage certificate who’s to say they even lodge it in MA and just did PT? For all their screaming it’s not as easy especially PT to obtain and let’s face it if PR found it there is no way they are going to produce it. First it exposes the fact they lied to officials about why they required it and their real details would be officially recorded.

Yes Capt you can share your ‘husbands’ experience but again I can give you a hundred different ones. The point is you can’t guess what an actress’s status is and say with confidence what it is. Now as to the latest claim:

And don’t start about the weather if a friggin MLB game could be played late afternoon/night & his niece can have a petting zoo outside under a tent supposedly on his front lawn then a wedding could take place add on he and his sisters were meant to have been seen out and about that day.🤦🏻‍♀️

could you go into your writing process a bit? i’ve been a fan of your fics for years now, and i still find myself in awe of how you’re able to create these cohesive worlds and voices and dynamics and just how tight your writing is. like i never feel like anything should be cut and even if all the loose ends aren’t tied up, i feel like it ends right where it should. like i’m so curious to see how your brain turns out so much magic!!

Oh my gosh, this is so nice of you to say 😭 Thank you first of all!  Secondly, I'll try to map out my process for big wips below the cut! Hope it makes sense 🤭 But this ask literally put a smile on my face all day, so thanks again. 

So to start off, I usually have a good idea of exactly how the story should end. That helps big time with everything else. If I don't know kind of what happens in the middle and exactly how it should end, I really struggle. 

Then I have a separate doc where I write down all my notes or thoughts about the stories, and also do the outlines. The story ideas come either extremely randomly, like me falling down a rabbit hole of presidential assassinations on YouTube (y'all know what this resulted in) or they're a result of my friend and i spiraling about something in the DMs (lighthouse, boxing fic, soulmate fics, most of the horny ones too 😂)

I also like to gather some pics just to get an idea of what the characters look like in whatever universe I'm writing about, as well as the scenery and buildings/layout. So for example, i used these inspo pics for The First Gentleman:

So every time I open the doc to write I'd have these, the outline, and the notes open. Other visuals like the banner or graphics I make also help put me in the right mindset for the story.

So, before I start writing, I draft an outline. I try to keep it brief tbh, the longer and more involved the outline the more intimidating the story feels which means less chance of me actually writing it 😅 (there are about 3 outlines that will probably never see the light of day!) but brief doesn't always work so what i do, especially for long wips, is make a short bullet list for what needs to happen in each chapter.

This way i can accommodate plot bunnies, shift stuff around and kill the darlings before i get too attached, i usually also have a few key scenes in my head and i then fit them in here. Outlines also include stuff like a quick character write up like age, quirks, bad habits, cute habits or sayings they have (in Ain't No Grave they had this cute back and forth "keep up now" or in Ruins Bucky called everyone meatballs.)

This is roughly what a chapter outline looks like for me:

lmaooo. as you can see it's very informal. basically a scribble.

Usually when I'm super inspired, i can get going straight away, otherwise I let it turn over in my head a little bit until i come up with a good starting point. What also helps me cement the character voices and specific characteristics is re-watching whatever source media it relates to. So for me it's always Cap 2 & 3 and TFATWS, Endgame where Sam gets the shield, and Sam’s scene in AoU and Antman.

I prefer to write in order from start to finish. I find I lose interest too quickly if I don't. Having a point to work toward is easier for me. BUT at the bottom of the notes/outline doc I also have a section for scenes that I absolutely can't get out of my head and need to write down right the fuck now. For example Monica’s induction in TFG was written waaay before anything else, so was the sambucky reunion in that fic. But, because I placed it at the bottom of a separate doc, the fic was still technically written in order 😌 makes perfect sense, I know lol.

Then whenever I finish a bullet point in the outline, I color it off the list. This process helps me keep track of what has been done and what still needs to happen. Seeing how much I've completed also really helps to keep me motivated, plus the colors are fun! Helps with sticking to what i had planned too, i find if i don't follow outlines, the scenes and characterization kind of jump all over the place. Mostly i only have some time on weekends to write so knowing exactly what i need to write and how i need to write it beforehand is key to me. Having the outline done before I start means I have a week to play those scenes out in my head or play with the dialogue until it sounds right. 

If I get stuck, I read either a book or my favorite fics, do some art, or just leave it be until inspo strikes again.

Everything is going badly right now, so I apologize for not only for not replying, but that my posting generally might run into trouble. My queue is running dry, and I haven’t had time for making new drafts. I’ve got tons of pics and months of sculpting, but I can’t just zap them up here.

Example of things getting to me:

Yesterday I put off my shopping, partly because of the rain and partly because of a scary heart spell and partly because I injured myself the previous day. I meant to take it easy. I didn’t. I was busy and “stuff” happened. Let’s just say it was officially a bad day.

So I get to the evening and light the hot water heater, eager to wash dishes and get to bed. And hour and a half later and…the water is cold. The hot water heater had gone out!

I got determined to try to figure out it out. If I was sensible I would have gone to bed, but I knew I would be unable to sleep with all the thinking about it. Besides, I have this thing about always bathing before bed. I may never find a chance to put lotion on my hands**, and I long ago accepted that my hair was going to be a rats nest whatever I do, but I’ll be damned if I am going to bed without washing away the dirt from my messy life!

Anyway, the hot water heater means kerosene, soot, and the filth caused by cats on the back porch that find that area extra snuggly on winter nights. Basically….ewwwww! Now I REALLY need to get clean.

Since I had spent all that time using that camping shower, I figured I’d boil some water and use that. Ok, first I had to spend twenty minutes trying to find it, but this would be fine for now.

It wouldn’t charge! The only zip it had left was the feeble one from that last time I used it. And the mineral build up had broken loose and now blocked the spray holes. It’s get it to work, but as a trickle.

Boiling the water went sideways too as the kettle decided last night would be a good time to spring a leak on me. I hoped adjusting the screws for the handle would stop it, but nope. The stove became a pond.

When I took a shower the water from the kettle, and the other I boiled, wasn’t enough to keep it from being chilly. Worse, when I dumped the kettle water in the scales of mineral that had built up in it*** decided to finally break loose. Some of it got sucked into the shower, clogging it.

I won’t go into everything I've done trouble shooting it. Let’s say I reached a point where it is either the copper line clogged or the kerosene level being too low.

The kerosene is always low because I can’t afford to buy much, but the way I ration it I should have had a month’s worth. If it is too low I have the mystery of where it is going, with no obvious signs of any leaks. I also have to drive to a gas station 10 miles and then spend more than $60 for 10 gallons.

If the line is clogged, things are possibly worse. If it’s at the opening from the tank it is very difficult to get to clear and likely means the tank is gunked up with rust I can do nothing about. If it’s the line I have disconnect it at both ends, which always goes wrong. Doing it alone kerosene goes everywhere. Disconnecting it from the heater means moving the refrigerator, then putting one arm through a little hole in the wall while reaching around the partition with the other, completely unable to see what you are doing.

And them every single time I work on copper line it breaks!

So then I end up having to patch or replace things. I have to find the special tools, remember how to do it, hope I’m not out of fittings the right size, work damn hard at it only to have it leak! I swear, trying to work on copper line an NOT have it leak makes me crazy. I was soooo proud of myself for getting it all just right after years of work.

If I have to clear the copper line there is a 95% chance I will end up with at least a little leak somewhere. Never mind the safety or cleanliness aspects, I can NOT afford to have a leak!

To test whether it was the line or the kerosene level I decided to tilt the tank. When I’d repaired the tank around five years ago I’d replaced the old rotten base to the spindly legs and got it set up nicely, but over time it had settled, so it could use a little more tilt.

The big crowbar is at the other house. I had to use a much punier one.

I have used up the spare bricks and cinderblocks, so I had to dismantle the steps I use to pour the kerosene in the tank.

The base, which I had made of treated (supposedly) wood and set on bricks had rotted. Not all of it, but one side, that had looked fine, crumbled away as I lifted.

Frantically I had to wedge things to stabilize the tank while holding it. I had to keep it from tilting too much and breaking the line, while also keeping it from falling over sideways, while using things I could reach.

I now need to make a new stand. I have no more suitable wood since some of this proved unsuitable. The shank on the hole saw broke when I made this one, and I found the others big enough either ruined or impossible to get to. The jumbo drill needed for these holes was stored in the metal building where the huge bookcase fell over on it (and it is now unsafe to go into…long story).

And then it rained, so I had to stop working on the tank.

That’s just a taste of how things are going. It got worse. More side troubles. Plus my body ain’t happy.

And to think I actually thought two days ago that this weekend I’d FINALLY finish the book moving**** so I could get started on the REAL work at Mom’s house!

You know, I had enough on my mind

**Can’t do it when I’m eating or feeding the animals. Can’t do it just before bed because I write in my journal. Can’t do it after supper because I’m going to sculpt. Can’t do it when I handle books or papers. Can’t do it when… And then when I’m not doing something where lotion would be a problem I’m out somewhere or am so busy I forget.

*** We have a LOT of mineral in our water. I have to flush the hoses periodically and after many decades of use the bathroom faucet it nearly blocked up inside. It has built up where it drips in the tub like a cave!

****I haven’t talked about it. Basically it’s a continuation of the “moving stuff around so I can work on the plumbing” thing that has ended up being an insanely involved process that has temporarily made the house a complete wreck that it’s almost impossible to get through. And since I am currently dealing with the stuff I had to move from my house because of the collapsed floors, I can’t even be grumpy at anyone for all the damn books! (And comics. And magazines. At least dolls and action figured are light in comparison!)

I don’t think they would have shut my internet service off for being just one month overdue but it hasn’t been working since 8:30 this morning. But whatever I have my silly little iPad with ok service in my apartment and my phone with like perpetually one bar and a couple games and movies I can access offline. And like 250 books to read between my nook and PDFs so I’ll be ok. And I can draw. So that’s where I’m at.

Went to goodwill earlier before the grocery store, I wish I could try clothes on but I still can’t so I didn’t buy pants. I think that’s why I keep not getting them because there were a few cute pairs of nice quality this time but I just couldn’t tell if they’d be too small. But I got a beautiful red Talbots 3/4 sleeve embroidered top embroidered with a large white viney floral pattern it fits perfectly but it’s kind of fancy looking for everyday. And a vintage linen plaid lightweight button up with cuffed short sleeves and a collar I can’t button it fully bc boob opening so I gotta do the tank top underneath open shirt situation so it makes me look very gay but it’s good.

Annnddd I got a basket with a handmade cover shaped like a chicken that you can lift up the wings and there’s holes to put your hand in to access contents of said basket. Naturally I’m using this for weed purposes, basically all shared loose items (personal smoke filter, grinder, lighter) are now safe organized and smell-less (-less suffix used, for example, as in stainless steel, as the steel stains less, so do my items smell less). Ummm I’m gonna take pics later.

Oh and I got a carhartt khaki cropped jacket with chunkier sleeves and like cargo pockets it’s so cute. All for under $15 and the coffee place I went to messed my drink up barely so I got both the messed up one and better one for free. So that’s why I won’t shut up I think

I know there’s a whole thing around confederate flag bikinis (for those into women) and it’s a damn shame there isn’t a similar thing for men in tight briefs or thongs of the confederate flag. Because i love seeing guys in them. (Fuck those loose fitting baggy shorts and swimsuits!)

Yeah, I’m definitely not into women, but I agree with the sentiment. There should definitely be a lot of studs in Confederate flag stuff! So many more. Most of the pics when you look that sort of thing just brings up controversy or pictures like this instead of hot guys or country boys. But here’s an example of the tighter briefs! Before people read this and go “Foof thinks blah blah blah” I most likely have autism and not all of these are my points. Some are my mothers. I also am not looking to create representation out of nothing. This is a post based loosely on a long conversation I had. It’s basically based off of cliff notes. So some things may not translate. I’m open to a discussion about whether or not he has it. But I will block bad actors who take my message as the worst possible interpretation. I see parts of myself in Roman. I also acknowledge that Roman can be a monster and is an irredeemable character.

Does Roman have autism?

Sensory issues(?) steak over Chicken. ED

Kieran has stated that Roman has an ED. Which could have started from issues with textures leading to a desire for control over those textured foods. It could also just be him seeking control. This is a loose point. But as someone who has issues with food textures, I know for me I find chicken to be a game to eat, Roman could have issues with the texture of chicken meat and therefore was having meltdowns (not tantrums) over being forced to eat something that he found deeply unpleasant over and over. Knowing boomers and up, children were often forced to eat everything on their plate, whether they liked it or not. They were forced to wear things whether or not they liked the texture of the fabric, forced to attend social gatherings regardless of whether or not they were comfortable with the level of noise. Roman could have sensory issues with physical touch from people he is not comfortable with or in his eyes, in control of.

Not understanding social cues. (Wedding BPD speech (why is everyone laughing)

There are many, many moments in the show where Roman misses social cues or misunderstands what people are saying to him, where he thinks the wrong things are the case or he doesn’t know why people are responding to him in certain ways. As Kieran has stated, Roman doesn’t lie. The biggest example I can think of off the top of my head, his speech at Shiv’s wedding. “I don’t feel like I’m losing a sister, I don’t feel like I’m gaining a brother either. Uh, I don’t feel anything… It's a mental disorder. It’s called borderline personality disorder. Why is everybody laughing?” Which could be a joke, but Roman says the truth in a funny tone to make it sound like a joke. And throughout his speech, he looks confused and a bit lost. There are also moments between him and Gerri. The constant hot and cold of the relationship leading him to believe it’s a game and not understanding that she genuinely wants him to stop sending her dick pics. As well as plenty of others that I once again can not think of off the top of my head.

Meltdowns/fits/frequent tantrums of anger (chicken VS steak)

He is very temperamental. When things become overwhelming, he freaks out. Sometimes through verbal abuse, other times just shutting down. He goes through sudden moments where he can’t handle the pressures of his life and he has (what I believe to be) meltdowns over the stressors. Like with the Chicken VS Steak debate. They were afraid that giving in to his “tantrums” would make him believe that he could get anything he wanted from them. Yet after repeatedly being told no, he was still doing the same thing? Children eventually learn that not getting what they want means they can give up on the “tantrums” but not Roman. He still has moments where he does the same thing to this day.

Comorbidity of BPD ASD or just misdiagnosed?

A lot of these can be explained by BPD, but my mother believes that it’s just ASD, I think it could be both. The instability of his relationships and life would only be exacerbated by ASD, his rationale of “The second someone is even slightly not on my side = they are my enemy” is a form of black and white thinking that could be present with both. I do believe there is a high chance I am in the wrong about ASD, I just think it’s an interesting possibility.

Mirroring Logan (thus getting beat)

Roman mirrors his father. The most powerful person he knows. A lot of that mirroring causes his father to see a toxic person (himself) in Roman. One of the many reasons he beat Roman.

Inability to understand the social behaviors of everyone else.

This goes back to the social cues point, but is slightly different. He doesn’t understand where he stands a lot of the time. Frequently being used by the nearest person, being told he is the one, being told that his cooperation with Menckin will secure him, believing that people see him as a viable solution to problems like the position of CEO because he was told in order to be manipulated. When people around him find him annoying but he thinks he’s just the bees knees. Or alternatively, when he thinks people find him annoying when he’s surrounded by people that care about him (his exes).

Not telling lies (truth disguised with humorous tone)

He doesn’t like to lie to people, he wants to tell the truth. But he learned that telling things like they are gets him punished, so he disguises what he says into a more acceptable manner. Using a humorous tone to create the illusion of a joke, and trying to gain social acceptance by being the jester.

“You’re not a real person.”

Masking, Kendall notices it. Roman tries to present himself as someone other than who he really is. Roman has a lot of traits that make him the “runt” of the pack and he tries to hide those through a bravado that he musters up.

Issues with touch from others (intimacy (could be molestation)

This could just be because he was (potential) molested as a child by someone. But it could also be a sensory thing. All of the parts of the body that are gross to him, constantly moving against someone, the heat, the feelings, it’s all a very overwhelming sensory nightmare. Something that could make him want to avoid it at most costs.

Not understanding where the line is (dark vs vicious humor) saying things he shouldn’t) all of the incest and molestation jokes)

He knows there’s a line, and he tries to tip toe it, but he repeatedly fails, constantly pushing the boundaries too far and crossing the line then getting offended when people call him out for it because “I’m the jester, that’s what I do?” He can’t help but try to get reactions out of people the only way he knows how. Then gets upset when it goes wrong.

Emotional immaturity

Roman struggles to keep up with the people around him, he finds the things he likes, and he sticks with them. So when he fell behind, (and was punished for it) he didn’t continue to develop.

Can’t sit comfortably (or be in any situation comfortably)

No matter the situation, he seems to be squirming and uncomfortable. He doesn’t know how to handle himself in situations and when he is trying to look cool or casual, he fails.

“Anything could be a lifeboat” “Porn could be a lifeboat” “except for that”

Could be another joke, could be Roman taking the situation seriously and trying to come up with the edges of what parameters Kendall has set.

Oversharing “I like your girlfriend” “I met her at a sex party where she was giving the groom a blowjob”

He is very open and blunt about what he does, who he likes, if something is right or wrong in his opinion. He will share what he thinks, and he will not ask if you want him to.

His empathy (not in a “no empathy” way, but a “high capacity for it” that is bursting at the seems of the socially acceptable “no empathy” façade)

Out of all of the characters in the main cast, Roman is typically the first to act like he has no empathy, and also the first person to try and help others who have been in the path of destruction. He knows that in his family his empathy is not acceptable, so instead he decides to be a monster. But sometimes his actual empathy for people slips through.

Black and white thinking(?) (Matsson Switch friendship)

This one I don’t have many examples for, it’s more of a “wait, does he do this? I think he does?” Kind of thought. But he goes from 0-100 very quickly. He is either with you or against you. He doesn’t like to have middle grounds.

You might have heard all across social media for several years now about comfy attire being trendy especially after the Corona Virus rampaged most places on earth.

One of the best and perhaps the most well known piece of clothing when it comes to this trend is the hoodie. I won't go around telling you about the origin of the hoodie or whatever, so let us save it for another day, right? Have you ever seen that iconic Ariana Grande's pic in a hoodie that was hoodiing? Yes you have. Let me show you, right here:

You might be asking yourself. But she wears that all the time. That's right. Forgive the post for the clarity of that image. It ain't mine so...Back on that picture. That right there is a perfect example of a hoodie that is hoodiing. That means it looks nice and not tight in any form whatsoever.

I am writing this article today to show you how to achieve that classy look with a hoodie if you are a woman. There are three main points to consider here:

Shoulder fit:

If you want to achieve that oversized look, NEVER EVER wear a hoodie that fits your shoulders perfectly, as if you are wearing a padded blazer. The length of the hoodie shoulder should be in such a way that it looks kinda sloppy. Somewhere like over your arm should do the trick.

The Space Between The Hoodie And Your Armpit

Here is where the majority of girls trying to make the oversized look make most of the damage. Oversized means LARGE all the way. At least in English. So that space there must always be large. In a way that you can hide something huge in there (laughs). You can know these when you stretch your arms. You will notice what I am talking about.

The Bottom Cuffs of The Hoodie

Is that even the right term? I don't know. What I mean is the bottom most part of the hoodie that should originally cover the waist. I am not talking about the wrist cuffs, the waist cuffs. You feel me (laughs) I suppose most hoodies were worn originally by men so that part was always tightened to make their physique look more athletic. But for the sake of this post or trend or fashion, whatever you wanna call it, it should be loose. Never buy one with that part tight, unless of course you need something more official or just when you feel like it.

Extra Points to note:

Choose neutral colors: Oversized hoodies look best in neutral colors like black, white, gray, or beige

Wear it as a dress: One trendy way to wear an oversized hoodie is to wear it as a dress. Pair it with knee-high boots or sneakers for a chic look.

Choose the right material: A cotton hoodie would really be great. Look for those made with organic materials and avoid things like polyester as they will still appear great in the long run. Cheers

I see your post, I understand and I appreciate it. I love seeing the reblogs and tags for this because it was just a thought my sleep deprived brain concocted and I posted it because, haha funny thing happening in the fandom. I just thought it was kinda funny. But I see a lot of people have thoughts on this and it’s just great lmao Like, I understand how people can come to that conclusion, especially if they’ve only watched the anime. I was more so talking about manga readers.

Anyway, you done did the one thing people shouldn’t do to me: allow me to introduce kpop to the situation. Been a kpop fan for literally almost half of my life. It’s hard for me to stop, but I’ll try my best lmao Most kpop idols are thin. That’s just beauty standard and generally how genetics play out. Some people tend to have prominent collarbones, obviously they’re more noticeable if a person is more on the slender side. I’ll start with my dear boy Wonho, who has always had pretty noticeable collarbones. A few years ago when he was with Monsta X, they were pretty prominent. He’s always been pretty muscular, see the blond tank top pics (taken in 2020, iirc) which is what I would roughly equate Gojo’s build to if we need an irl comparison.

Nowadays, his tiddies are bigger than my head, but his collarbones are still relatively prominent. Man’s is legit built like a whole fire station.

Upon seeing Gojo in the black sweater, I didn’t think he was lithe, per se, but I didn’t think he was hiding muscles similar to Toji/present day Wonho under there. But that’s just me. I’ve seen plenty of cases irl and in anime where a person or character seems pretty thin but are hiding a surprising build under a coat or sweaters. Another example is babby boy Christopher- Bang Chan. When he’s just chilling, doing his Chan’s Room streams, he often wears a lot of black, which is slimming, and a lot of really loose fitting, comfy tops and hoodies. To the unassuming eye and those that just don’t know, he has the average male kpop idol build.

In reality, Chan is also hiding a really impressive build.

Another memory engrained in my head comes from Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s. When I was a kid, I loved watching whatever Yu-Gi-Oh content I could get my hands on and I watched 5D’s every Saturday. Yusei Fudo is my second favorite protagonist from the franchise. Like most Yu-Gi-Oh characters, he has a pretty iconic jacket and the standard thin boy build we see in anime, especially children’s cartoons/anime. Yu-Gi-Oh is targeted towards young boys and not a series that’s trying to draw older people in with hot ikemen. So imagine my surprise as a kid when they put Yusei in scenes without his jacket and he had muscles. They aren’t crazy big, bulging muscles, but certainly don’t match the noodle look his jacket gave him. I learned then to not judge too quickly lol

So now, back to the man of the hour. Like I said before, the post I made was from my sleep deprived mind and I typed it up in a couple of minutes. I was reminded of the the obligatory beach chapter of the manga. It’s Chapter 70: Hidden Inventory, Part 6. As stated, this was 11 years ago and Gojo was 17

Gojo has always been this way. Who wears an all black hoodie to the beach? Gojo, apparently. Also, I cannot defend his legs. I guess he just skips leg day, idfk skcnfkekfme But even here Gojo is pretty ripped. He just seems to be the type to like to hide this fact. Maybe it’s so that people and curses who don’t know who he is will underestimate him.

Also also, I said, too, that time doesn’t flow in the Prison Realm? Time doesn’t flow, so I’m not sure how the weeks would feel to Gojo. I’ve had a couple of people try to debate that in the 19 days he was sealed, he gained muscle and I’m just like…. No? You cannot gain a significant amount of muscle in just 19 days, and even if you could, how did Gojo? He can’t move. It is called the Prison Realm for a reason. It is a pocket dimension meant to designed to keep the being inside confined, imprisoned. What was he doing in there to exercise? Lifting skeletons?

There was no way for him to do much of anything. Inside the Prison Realm, all Gojo can do is sit and think. He thinks about Nobara, Megumi, Yuji, Nanami and the sweets he wants to eat. He sleeps and ignore the crushing atmosphere and skeletons inside. You can see this in a video called Jujutsu Kaisen Gokumonkyou which is just Gojo existing in the box with some fire lo-fi lol

Ayo, why do so many people think Gojo was lanky before his unboxing? He was stuck in a pocket dimension for nineteen days. Nineteen days is a lot of time but simultaneously isn’t when it comes to building muscle specifically. Also, the point of the cube was to trap him so he couldn’t move. He wasn’t deadlifting in the cube; he literally couldn’t do anything. At one point in time, Gege said time doesn’t even flow the same in the cube, and it’s more like there is no flow of time.
