hi jenna gif questions for u 💜 what's your favorite part of making gifs? what's the most valuable thing/tip/trick you've learned? what's some of your favorite gif sets you've made?

hi ida!!!! sorry i took a couple days to answer this i wanted to wait until i had some time to think about it before i answer! i loooove these questions tho so thank you so much for sending them 💜💜

my favorite part about making gifs is probably coloring and like...that moment when i get the gif to look exactly how i want it to. i like to play around with coloring and try a lot of different things with it and that can be so fun! i think over the last like 6-8 months my coloring has really improved a lot and i've been having a lot of fun learning new ways to do things! but i actually had a really hard time coming up with an answer for this question because i mostly enjoy the entire process! the only part that i don't really enjoy is picking out the frames for each gif. i always start with way too many and then i have to cut stuff out and i hate that part. also it's reaaally hard sometimes to not end up with like 20 gifs cause there's so much i want to include!!!

okay im gonna cheat on this one and give a few things i've learned since i started that have been sooooo valuable to me. first is the importance of having a good quality download to start with. i think my gifs got significantly better when i finally downloaded all of the episodes in 1080p instead of using the screen recording on netflix like i had been before. second sharpening is so important! i did not do any sharpening on my first gifs i made! sharpening makes the gifs loook sooo sharp and crisp and pretty. third and kind of similar to sharpening was learning/figuring out how to use the camera raw filter. there's sooooo much you can do with camera raw filter (coloring sharpening lightening). and finally one thing i learned that i think made my coloring look significantly better was to try not to lighten the gif too much and/or to figure out ways to lighten darker gifs without it messing up the background too much (sometimes when they're lightened too much it will like pixelate the background and it looks awful)

and finally (in order of when they were made from oldest to newest) here are links to some of my favorite gifsets:

Bloody Dean Throughout the Seasons Set - this one actually came out really good considering the fact that it was made only a month after i first started making gifs! if i remember correctly it's the first set that i ever used sharpening on.

6x20 F+TM King Set - this one is a favorite mostly just because i love the song so much and tmwwbk is one of my favorite episodes. i think some of my favorite sets to make are the ones that i add lyrics to.

2022 Nov 5th Set - i was really happy with how this one came out! it's so hard to get gifs from episodes over different seasons to look the same! and this one had gifs from 12 different seasons! also i think this was the first set i ever made that got over 1000 notes which i remember being really excited about!

Laughing Dean Set - this one is a favorite purely based on the content of the set. it feels like injecting serotonin every time i look at it<3

1x12 Faith Set - another one based on the content of the set. i just love this episode so much.

Season 9 Dean Set - i LOVE the coloring in this set! and season 9 dean is so beloved to me. he is just so beautiful and bloody and sad.

2023 Cas Day Set - another f+tm lyric set! i love the space overlay that i added and the blue-pink of the coloring so much!

4x18 Destiel Every Episode Set - i loooove this scene so much! this gif series has by far been more popular than any of the other gifs that i post and this set is definitely the most popular in the series. no other set has ever even come close to getting 4k notes like this one did. also i really like the purple coloring a lot<3

(tho having to choose my faves was SO difficult!!)

so i want to start with a simpler set: this one. this rich red is so damn stunning and i'm always in awe of your coloring skills and how you manage to make colors look the same in every gif!! (as a gifmaker i know that's hard to achieve) this is the same as i told jagoda, you both have such an excellent way of coloring backgrounds and making it so smooth?? you both have achieved the highest level in frame by frame coloring tbh. i bow to you.

and if i could i'd link all your similar sets you've made because they're all gorgeous. and i hate saying they're simple because there's no blending because they're not actually easy to make?? you make them look effortless though. i admire that so much.

obviously gotta mention this set. the way you used the ripped paper effect is genius. to split two gifs into one and use the older/younger versions?? phew. i'm also in love with this pale green coloring. that first gif is my fave of this set, it's so damn good.

this set has some incredible blending!! seamless triple blends??? i'm on the floor. i love what you did with the text as well, so clever. and that beautiful pink omg, it pops! if i had to pick one fave i think i'd say the first one, i just love the composition.

yet another stunning set is this one. i looooove when you use two colors instead of just one because you always pick such good combos. you really have an eye for it (i know i already told you this but i'll repeat it cause IT'S THE TRUTH). the effects are so cool, the one with all the vinyls is so creative. your fontwork is also exquisite, so many different ones but it still all matches together and vibes.

i love me a good timeline gifset and this one is no different. the blending is superb. gorgeous coloring, it's pale yet they're not looking washed out which is always a struggle lol. looooove the fonts. the fact that in the first gif you triple blend on such a small surface? i have no words. why it doesn't have 10k notes i will never understand.

all your posts for rhaenicent week have been incredible i'll be honest but i can't talk about all of them haha. you've been so productive this year! but yeah this set i think might be my fave of this week? the transitions with the little squares is soooo beautiful and clever. i shall definitely steal it for a set in the future 😂 but your coloring omg?? that blue and purple and white. sooooooo pretty!!!

of course i have to mention this set. i have not mentioned your sense of humor yet which is a shame cause i love your funny sets :D i love the little notes you added hehe, roast him! i'm in love with the bigger font, it's stunning. the blending is once more, unbelievably good.

there's another bridgerton set of yours i loooove. the colors just have me on the floor, they're SO gorgeous. the blending is insane, i especially love the first gif. and then all the fonts omg?? you really let yourself go and i could not love it more!!!! never thought this amount of fonts would look good and yet.

next up: this beauty. the amount of details in this is incredible. the layout is so fun and i love the little logos you added for each episode. the rainbow coloring?? gorgeouuuuuus.

i have a soft spot for this set because it's so innovative. where do you keep finding all those ideas for creative sets truly?? i need to pick your brain!!! i particularly love the 2nd & 4th gifs, the b&w and the shapes and the typography make for an unbelievable ensemble. but honestly all the different effects on this set are so good.

then we got this one. again, it feels like you wanted to try out so many effects and transitions and styles. and i feel like anyone else would've tried this it would look bad, but you make it work!!!! that's the bebebo touch. this soft purple is beautiful but i especially love the fonts on this set i think. the 2nd gif is my fave i think, i love the ripped paper effect and the blending.

and lastly, of course i had to talk about this one you made recently. i cannot imagine how much time it took to make. the silhouette broken in parts and every one has another blended gif??? insane. the broken mirror, the broken heart, all of it matches the vibes so perfectly. i haven't watched this show but i can feel the tragedy of it all you know? this green and purple are such a good match. this is definitely my fave piece of yours this years. showcasing your skills beautifully.

most popular: snoozi (5.2k notes) - my most popular set of the year! i love how many people enjoyed the pun, and i looooved compiling all the sleepy woozis favorite: it's definitely snoozi, but honorable mentions include strawboory & svt + tv tropes - strawberry boo was already too cute not to gif, and as soon as i had the pun in mind, nothing could've stopped me from using it - svt + tv tropes was so fun! i actually have a few ideas for a part 2, but not enough for a whole set yet.

AUGUST

most popular: "in the market" song (700 notes) - i was flabbergasted by this, woozi's memory terrifies me. instant gifset. favorite: a rainbow of wz hair colors - i loved coloring this set, for obvious reasons. vibrant gifs my beloved.

SEPTEMBER

most popular: follow tour vcr (500 notes) - the moment i saw this, i loved it. i'm not exactly sure what the plot was, so i had my own interpretation ofc. favorite: svt mvs + pink & blue - i was on a mission for rq&s, but i ended up going a little broader instead. i had fun making the templates!

most popular: pd woo (700 notes) - it's just a single large gif, but man is it a cute face. the 700 notes are me reblogging it 700 times in another life. favorite: first love & letter album covers - wahhh these were so fun to make! the "love" one is my favorite, they're such good boys honestly.

Okay okay so I’ll start with this youmina edit by @nyttvera. Literally one of my favorite gifsets of all time. I think about it a lot. It holds a special place in my heart. I remember seeing it for the first time and thinking, wow that’s so beautiful, the talent!!! Vera is one of my favorite gifmakers, everything she makes is gorgeous.

Next it’s this nancy gifset by @william-byers. Listen, I may be bias because I requested this particular gifset and I’m a big nancy fan, but I just love how it came out. The colors are beautiful!!! And the scenes are perfectly chosen. Jake’s so talented, his coloring is always pretty, and he’s so creative. I love everything he does.

Now this mike edit by @mikewheelerc. Okay, anyone who follows dani knows how talented she is. Everything she makes is gorgeous!!! This particular mike gifset is recent but it’s an instant fave. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, no one loves mike wheeler as much as she does. She’s the captain of the mike wheeler lovers club (as discussed by jake and I). Also she never fails with the coloring, and this is no exception. I just love how vibrant and colorful this gifset is. It truly matches the chaotic energy of the tags.

Okay so this next one was hard to choose because I love everything @deenafier makes. Kas is terrifically talented and so creative, but I’ll go with this kieutou gifset. I mean, just look at it. The contrast between red and blue representing fatou and kieu my, and the middle gif, red and blue (fatou and kieu my) combining to make purple. The space doodles are soooo cute oh my god (fatou and kieu my own space, I don’t make the rules). The quote fits them so well! And the angst!!! It wouldn’t be a kas gifset without angst.

Finally, this byler gifset by @bylerrights. First of all, pain :), second of all , I loooove the coloring so much. Angsty byler gifsets are my jam, but there’s something about this one in particular that hasn’t left my mind. It’s gorgeous, the blending is amazing, the quote, THE QUOTE, it kills me. It’s perfect and deserves more love.

Named after someone? yes, after my mom's grandmother. I've never met her but apparently she was a rebellious soul for her time and I take after her in some ways lol

Last time you cried? oof, a few days ago while going thru my recordings of Yakuza 0 while planning gifsets. like wtf I can't believe this game makes me cry even when I'm not actively playing it, it didn't have to go THAT HARD??

Do you have any kids? nope and tbh I don't want any

Do you use sarcasm a lot? mmm I don’t think so? not any more than the average person

What’s the first thing you notice about people? their noses!!! I loooove interesting and unusual noses

Eye color? brown!

Scary movie or happy ending? idk I'm fine with either, if it's good storytelling I don't get too hung up on genre

Any special talent? I've been told I'm very good at remembering the names and details (physical appearance, things about themselves they've relayed in conversation, etc.) of people I've just met, so I'll go with that

What are your hobbies? playing video games, giffing video games, crying over video games, buying new video games then never playing them, falling for fictional characters in video games...

Do you have any pets? just my black lab Dakota, he's a big goofy goober and I love him so much 🧡 he's been such a source of comfort during these last several months, I think I'd have gone crazy without him

What sports do you play/have played? I did gymnastics as a kid and I was on my high school track team. I still run a lot, it's my main outlet for stress

How tall are you? 5’4″

Favorite subject in school? math and science! I also loved every literature course I took in college (I was a math major but filled my electives with lots of lit courses) and I wish I could have taken more

Dream job? I actually enjoy my current job, but something I'd absolutely love to do one day is work with a nonprofit to train service dogs!
