Before we start trigger warning for like, child abuse and torture and shit. Seriously this gets dark. Zane redemption must come at a price >:D

So. Something interesting to me in regards to Zane is how in MCD, He's like, this evil, terrible human being, but in Mystreet, he's like, a semi functional human being who can be a NOT bad person and NOT do bad things. And so I got to thinking.

I don't think Zane was born a bad person.

Personally, I kind of hate the way Jess wrote Zane. Like, yes, evil for the sake of evil is great and all, but like. In season one and two, Zane was this overarching antagonist who was always one step ahead of the cast and plotting and having a good time being a paice of shit.

And then season 3 comes around and now he's a shadow knight, on the run, has PTSD...

Look, I'm not knocking the guy for having PTSD. I'm just saying that the way it's portrayed kind of makes him seem like a whimpery coward. AGAIN, NOT KNOCKING PTSD!!

I think the position that Zane found himself in season 3 was a PERFECT set up for a redemption arc and it makes me SO MAD that it didn't happen.

So I guess I have to do it myself apparently -_-

I've been thinking a lot about Zane. I don't want him to stop being evil. Not right away. So we keep what happened in the first two seasons the same. He's a cackling maniac that has killed a shit ton of people and is on his father's payroll.

And then he dies.

(skill issue lol)

Anyway, Zane is dead. But he's also Zane, so of course he weasels his way out of being dead. And then he gets tortured and is subjected to the same suffering he condemned so many others to yada yada yada PTSD bleh.

Everything seems to be the same so far.

But then he breaks out if the nether. Still, we're on track, right?

He gets captured, he gets expedited to Phoenix Drop, he gets interrogated, it's all the same.

But here we find a canon divergence. Instead of being absolute dumbasses, they don't bring him into the nether. Let's scrap that plot point entirely.

Instead, we're going to let Zane bake in prison for a while!

Here are the main issues that make Zane irredeemable.

1. He's killed like, a shit ton of people, for funsies ig

2. He killed Vylad.

3. He destroyed Aaron's village.

Let's keep those things in mind.

So he's in prison. While in prison, Garroth starts to visit him (along with Travis but shhhh we'll get to him another day) and just. You know. Be angry.

Garroth has seen Zane as a spoiled brat his entire life. He's always been their father's favorite. He's always had everything handed to him on a silver platter. He's always been willing to do whatever it takes for power. He's greedy. He's psychotic. Garroth hates him.

But Zane is Garroth's brother. And Garroth is the type of golden retriever, gold hearted, kind type of character to still love his brother even if he hates him.

That doesn't mean he goes in and is like, nice to him though. Nope. Garroth goes to visit him and nine times out of ten it devolves into a screaming match where Zane antagonizes him the entire time and Garroth yells at him for being a shitty human being.

And then one day Phoenix Drop is attacked and Zane escapes.

They track him down eventually. When they find him, they strike a deal with him. Due to Irene related shenanigans they need his expertise as a scholar of Irene to figure out some more stuff for Aphmau. In exchange, they'll protect him from the Shadow Lord (who he pissed off by stealing one of his soul fragments lol Zane behavior).

Eventually they're able to establish a rapore with Zane. Garroth still gets a migraine whenever they have a conversation. Vylad still refuses to speak to him (oh btw he's visiting from his nether revolution vacation just so u know) and Aphmau still wants to tear out his guts for killing the love of her life or whatever, but he becomes manageable. They can like, stand him. A little bit. Slightly.

And then Zianna gets kidnapped or whatever. So they go rescue her. But when they get back to Phoenix Drop they forget to mention the fact that Zane is like. There and in the wild and not currently killing entire villages worth of people.

So Zianna rolls up to Phoenix Drop and gets jumpscared by her youngest son and also, notably, Zane is NOT happy to see her. He shuts the front door in her face. It's hilarious even though Garroth doesn't think of it that way.

So, now we have our key players all in one place. Garroth, Vylad, Zane, and Zianna.

Let's say they have to all go find an artifact toghether or something and they need Zianna there because it's related to something she knows and they need Zane there because of Irene lore reasons. they go on this mission. One day, they sit and set up for the night, set up bedrolls, whatever. They're lounging around the fire and talking when Vylad eventually mentions his time as a shadow knight in the nether and something about torture.

Zane blinks, and, having not been included in the conversation initially, buts it to say,

"Oh, please. Don't tell me getting tortured by those amatures was DISTRESSING for you. I would have thought father's methods would have given you thicker skin."

The others bristle and start scolding him, of course, because Zane is like, the reason Vylad became a shadow knight in the first place. But Vylad himself, who is very observant and hard to antagonize, latches into something Zane said.

"Methods? What methods?" He says. He says it sharply, too.

Of course, Zane doesn't pick up on this. He just rolls his eyes.

"Don't tell me you forgot. Father had a whole floor dedicated to torture and loved collecting new methods from around the region. I think he even had a historian employed who would research for him..."

"What?" Garroth says, stunned out of his anger.

Zianna has gone silent. So has everyone else, and now they're watching with baited breaths.

"So what? What would that have to do with me?"

And for the first time that they've ever seen, Zane looks... Puzzled.

"What, did he go easy on you? Didn't you talk back to him all the time? Once, after just asking him a question, he had two of my nails pulled. Shadow Knight torture was child's play in comparison," he shrugs, then takes a bite out of his stale price of bread.

There's silence.

Zane looks back at all of them, confused and now kind of pissed off. He looks like he usually does when he feels like he's about to be scolded for saying something crass. Except, that's not what happens. Instead, Vylad looks him in the eye for the first time since Zane killed him, and with the most emotion they've ever heard from him, says,

"What?"

Zane hums.

"Come on. Don't play dumb. He hated you. Im sure he must have sent you to the "torture basement" at least once. You got on his nerves constantly,"

Garroth makes an aborted movement, like he's going to stand up and rush him, but Vylad stops him with a flick of his hand. And then Vylad starts doing what he does best. Interrogating him.

So remember that list, right? Let's reframe a few things.

Zane was not the favorite child. Garroth was.

Garte was a paice of shit. Garte hated Vylad. But he also hates Zane. Why wouldn't he? Vylad was his wife's affair child, sure, but Zane, Zane was Zianna's spitting image.

When Zane was little, he used to take snails and out them in the grass after it rained. He uses to clamor for his mother's pastries just like his brothers. He was a normal child, and he was NOT born a psychopath.

But Garte had a thought, one day.

Wouldn't it be funny... If he made his wife think he WAS one?

Wouldn't it be funny to punish her that way? Wouldn't it be funny to turn Zane into a terrible person, and have her think it was for no reason? Make her think that she birthed a psychopath? How much would it hurt her? How much would she weep?

Garte used to punish Zane for Vylad's joy. One of Vylad's laughs would equal one slap to the face. One side remark in defence of their mother would equal one hour locked in his father's study closet in his office.

Garte turns Zane against himself brothers. And the best part in his mind?

He makes Zane believe that they know about all of it.

He tells Zane that his mother knows about it. That his brothers don't care that he's beaten. That Vylad does things so he gets punished on purpose.

Zane grows up thinking that his brothers probably go through this too. He grows up thinking that his mother just doesn't love him. And so he doesn't say a thing.

Garte starts having him tortured instead of superficially physically abused? He says nothing.

Garte makes him become a priest of Okasis even though the consequence of failing the academy is death? He says nothing.

Garte would encourage Zane to blugeon animals to death and bring them to Zianna and laugh at her horrified face from afar. Garte encourages Zane to say psychotic things while they're eating dinner, and watches as his family becomes more and more convinced Zane is a monster.

Until Zane is one.

But this reframes a few things.

The people Zane killed? It was under orders. He eventually became his father's right hand man. Most of his overarching goals have been in service of his father.

For Aaron's village, we'll stick a pin in that one, but long story short, Aaron's village had been planning a coup that night under his wife's orders. Zane had them killed under his father's orders so they could eliminate them as political neighbors. He let Aaron live out of pity.

And Vylad.

Basically, remember when I said that Garte used to punish Zane according to Vylad's actions?

One day, Vylad gets into an explosive argument with Garte defending Zianna. And Garte, again, without the other's knowing, has Zane tortured. Except this time it's for a WEEK STRAIGHT.

So when Zane gets out. He's. Very unstable.

And then he comes across Vylad in a semi secluded area.

And Vylad is acting like he did nothing, and all he's ever done is make Zane suffer, and Zane hates him hates him HATES HIM--

And so he snaps. And he kills him.

Keep in mind, though, Zane thinks this is all normal. He doesn't realize that killing his own brother has traumatized him. He doesn't realize that he's a victim of abuse. He doesn't realize that what his dad did is not okay because he THINKS HIS FAMILY KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED, and if they didn't contradict his abuse, then this must be normal. He thinks that Vylad has probably been tortured too. He thinks Garroth is their father's favorite because in his mind he's determined that Garroth not receiving any attention from their father is a GOOD thing because ATTENTION EQUALS TORTURE to him.

And this reframes a few things. His constant bid for power? It's not greed, it's DESPERATION. Power makes him feel safe. Hurting others makes him feel powerful because that's how his father had power over him.

His highly volatile and violent personality? It's l he's ever known. Do you have ANY idea what torture could do to a child? He has severe PTSD. Like, severe and repressed and his outburst are more common when he's uncomfortable or anxious or experiencing any negative emotion, which is often.

Garte took Zane's empathy from him. Turned him against his family. Made him into a monster. With these types of characters, I imagine it would probably be very difficult for them to redevelop their emotions and empathy because if they do that, they would have to face their whole mountain of trauma and the guilt of all the lives they've ruined.

I think eventually, after a lot of work, Zane does eventually regain his empathy. It probably finally sinks in during a small gathering. His mother makes her famous cake. Zane has long gotten used to being excluded during these sorts of things, but then...

His mother slides a plate of cake right in front of him.

Strawberry.

His favorite.

And she smiles at him.

This is probably after they found out about Garte being a peice of shit. Maybe a few months.

All Zane has ever wanted is to be loved. Maybe he didn't know it, but when he takes a bite of his mother's strawberry cake for the first time in decades and the nostalgic taste registers in his brain, something snaps.

And he becomes human again.

And he realizes:

Oh.

I'm a person.

I'm a murderer.

I'm a monster.

Some Slightly More Coherent Thoughts about Void Paradox

Riveting title, I know, but this is the quality content I'm sure... 50 of you signed up for? When the fuck...? How are there so many of you?? And in spite of that title, this post is still long as fuck

Anyways I finished Void Paradox and it sure made me feel a certain way. [Cut to footage of me literally screaming anytime Laurance showed emotion in the series]. Gotta say, as a long time Laurance fan, this is really nice to have. I've been going on my tirades about how Jess ruined Laurance for the sake of Aaron, and how Laurance never really bounced back from this character assassination, but I wasn't entirely right. He sort of bounced back?

Well, we got this. I still would have liked Laurance in Love-Love Paradise but I guess I'll take him in this series. And honestly, it's the best Laurance content I've gotten that isn't fan content since... well, since I first watched the show back in 2015 when I was a literal fetus. Every time after I've gone back and watched as Laurance got written poorly from honestly really early episodes sometimes (looking at you Episode 65), and had to deal with the unfortunate truth that he was essentially unimportant to the story Jess decided to tell with both her series, despite being the main character of one of them.

It's so refreshing to have quality Laurance content, and we got a variety of it in this show. He's so expressive, so alive, so emotional. I've always loved Laurance because surprise surprise, the men in my life weren't always the most emotionally vulnerable, so I latched onto fictional men who were as a coping mechanism! Yayyy! And Laurance has always been a very emotionally vulnerable character, at least in the beginning. It's part of the tragedy that is his character arc in Season 2. That Laurance is usually vulnerable, that he's the one who's always willing to talk about his emotions, but the calling is making it harder to open up, and the world has only become crueler to men like him who dare to feel too much.

Wow I just keep sliding into depressing content in this post, I'm trying to praise Laurance's writing in this series. Because it's good. I have my problems with Void Paradox as a whole, but as a showing for my favorite character in the entire Aphverse, a chance at redemption, it's fantastic. As I said Laurance is so expressive in this series, largely thanks to Sebastian Todd being an absolutely phenomenal voice actor who clearly knows and cares about this character. His performance is absolutely excellent and a great high note for this character to go off on.

I cannot emphasize how much I adore every little thing about Laurance's portrayal. The flirtiness, the smug bastard energy, the very sincere and open care, that one scene where he gets super embarrassed and then whimpers that I haven't listened to like eighteen times. The whole thing is great. His dynamic with this alternate version of Aphmau is so good, it's so great to see him bounce off of other characters. I just love it so much.

That scene where he realizes that he's in a similar scenario to the Nether and literally instantly jumps to "If it comes down to it, let me sacrifice myself," I SCREAMED AT THIS. The whole series whenever he angsts over his old world I scream, but that line really hit me. Fuck whatever you say about Laurmau in every universe, the universal truth of Laurmau, nay the universal truth of Laurance is this;

"I would sacrifice myself so you could live in every universe."

That's Laurance! That's Laurance with literally anyone you want!! This is the best characterization Laurance has ever gotten. It's consistent with his character, and I love the fact that Mod Aphmau doesn't even let him finish his consideration of self-sacrifice, she just shuts it down and it's a great contrast to what Laurance is used to. I adore how that's what he jumps to, I adore the fact that he's as clueless as I am about the lore this season, I love the rivals esque thing he's got going on with Jaiden, that was fun. Lotta potential there. This was just a good time. I cannot emphasize how delightful Laurance was in this series. How his delightful presence is the most enjoyable thing in the series, and a literal blessing unto us all.

Wasn't it nice to feel good about an Aphmau series for like.. two minutes. Anyways here's the part where I get a little salty with Jess, as per usual. I'm not going to go too in depth on my problems with Void Paradox as a story because it's mercifully short and a lot of my complaints did come from a standpoint of not knowing any of the lore of Mod Mod World which might have hindered my full ability to understand the larger story.

I can however get VERY salty about the fact that I didn't even know Void Paradox was a thing that had Laurance in it until 2024!! It came out in 2018! How did this happen? Well the answer is very simple, the cause is the bane of my very existence. My Street Season 6 When Angels Fall. [I am shaking with rage]

I know you've likely read how much I can tear into season 2 Episode 95, and oh my Irene can I tear into that episode, but there's a similar but differently visceral emotion When Angels Fall makes me feel. Let's call it a sort of divine rage. And now, I have one more reason to hate it. Because Void Paradox, a series with actual quality content, was released at the same time as whatever the fuck that was, meaning it never had a chance.

For a bit of personal context, I briefly became active in the Aphmau fanbase when this season came out and during the time leading up to it. I had seen every season of My Street, and despite not being the biggest fan of where Jess took the series, I liked a lot of the characters and was invested in where they would go from here. I was knee deep in the My Street trenches when the many many different bombs dropped. Melissa dying but then she didn't but maybe she did and I literally spent hours arguing with people on this, Ein is turning everyone evil, there's a doomsday device, forever potion nonsense is happening, Travis' dad is evil maybe, Aaron is going insane, the multiverse is falling apart, and then Jess just killed the best character in the entire series, dare I say the entire Aphverse, dare I say the entire universe of existence as we know it--

It was a lot. And in all the chaos Void Paradox just... came out. It came out right before episode 9 of When Angels Fall came out. And anyone else who was there during the war... they know what that episode did to us. What it did to me. I wasn't the same after that episode came out. I felt like I had lost a part of myself. Something I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to get back...

And as a result, I and a lot of people didn't see Void Paradox. Looking at the numbers, Void Paradox struggled to get above 1 million viewers for most episodes, while the lowest viewed episode of When Angels Fall sits at a cozy 2.9 million as an established series. Void Paradox is objectively better as a series and deserves to have a second season. We deserve to explore more of the weird ideas Jess clearly had while making it, we deserve to know if a cure can be found, and we, or maybe just me and I'm feeling selfish here, deserve to know if Laurance is okay.

Jess has already taken one comfort character away from me. I'll be damned if she takes another.

The bright morning sun shone through the trees, the birds chirped happily the air was filled with a sweet fragrance of flowers, and everything seemed peaceful. A peaceful scene to the eye. Y/n wakes up in her room, a slight glare of her rainbow glass window film through her black curtains. Y/n's room has always been so peaceful everywhere she goes she turns the room into a sanctuary that’s something garroth loved about her, where ever she was she brought peace. Y/n finally gets her lazy butt up and Begins to head stairs since it was only her mom and Aphmau who lived in their house it was normal for them to walk around in underwear and tee shirts so that’s exactly what she is wearing except this morning they had a guest over. It’s Zianna!! half way through the kitchen “Good morning girly” Zianna says in her cheerful voice with a wide smile, y/n stops realizing she has her shirt up to wipe her face with it revealing her stomach and underwear fully then puts it down really fast upon hearing her voice “ zianna! What are you doing here?” Y/n asks Sylvanna your mother smacks you for being rude “That is no way to talk to somebody “ she scolded you “Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t mean it that way “You were very quick to apologize in fear of offending someone “ it’s quite alright bow tie” she says giggling as she makes a joke about the design on your underwear “ so me and your mom were talking and tonight we are hosting a dinner party!!! It’s going to be so exciting, everyone is going to be formal and wear suits/dresses!!!” She says very thrilled “ oh wow that sounds exciting “ y/n says kinda plain and turns around to grab cereal and milk slightly ignoring the rest of the conversation. Y/n doesn’t love dresses Well, she loves them but wearing them is different often they make her feel too wide or too chunky cause she has curves that she doesn’t like but she tries not to think about that too much and just eats until she is snapped out of her head by zianna saying “ that’s great id love to take her shopping with me “ and your mom saying “ great y/n loves shopping and spending all my money so I’m glad you want her to spend yours “ they laugh together and y/n turns around confused what they were talking about “ huh?” Y/n asks “Baby you going shopping with Zianna today for a new dress cause you don’t have any “Sylvanna states then proceeds to play Candy Crush on her iPad

“ I’ll be ready in an hour to pick you up to go shopping be readyyyyyyy” Zianna yells while walking out the door. You sign and run up the stairs getting ready as fast as you can. Hair, makeup, outfit.

Anyway, after all that was done, she had a few minutes to spare so she grabbed a cute white bag with Sanrio characters on it and a dark green water bottle for aesthetic purposes. Right as she finished filling her water bottle zianna texts her to come to the car so y/n heads and gets in the car in the passenger seat but as she bucked in she screamed in horror seeing garroth in the back seat she didn’t know he was coming or that he was there so he spooked her, he laughed and asked if she was alright and she then began laughing and they started a conversation “ I didn’t know you were coming “ y/n says “ oh yeah I just decided last minute I wanted to come “ garroth says

They keep talking all the way to the mall

( garroths hyper fixation recently has been sea animals so he just tells her a bunch of facts about them the whole way there )

Once they get to the mall they immediately head to the Dress shop and start looking after like 20 minutes y/n finds a few dresses they like and now you're going to try them on and have a little fashion show for Zianna and garroth which you are not excited about because it feels embarrassing and you don’t like how you look in dresses and don’t wanna look bad in front of garroth but she carry’s on. The first dress she puts on is this black square chest silk tight dress. She looks in the mirror for a few minutes just staring at her body thinking then she snaps out of it and walks out to show them the dress “Oh you look so beautiful darling” Zianna immediately says then looks at garroth and he says “ I think you look very nice “ he smiles sweetly after collecting her compliments she heads back in to try on more dresses after 5 dresses she didn’t enjoy it was finally time to try the last dress on which she saved because she wanted to save the best for last it’s her favorite cause there’s not much going on it it’s simple and plain. Putting it on she didn’t expect to like it but she didn’t expect to hate it she hoped it would be a medium choice but when she put it on she fell in love with it, the way it made her body look made her feel a little more confident. She walks out to show off the outfit but unlike all the other dresses she is smiling this time while zianna calls her gorgeous and praises her body she is looking into the full body mirror outside the dressing room admiring herself, while garroth admires her. Zianna walks away to put all the other dresses back leaving garroth and y/n alone. “ you look gorgeous not only because of your dress but because of your smile I'd love to see you look at yourself like this more, it’s refreshing for you to see yourself the way others do “ garroth says standing behind her looking at her face through the mirror y/n keeps the smile on her face but it turns into a cheesy blushy smile “ thank you garroth” she says quietly. zianna comes back to pay so y/n changes her clothes back and they wrap up at the store and begin heading home

Your mom walks straight to the kitchen leaving you and aphmau alone in the doorway but thankfully here comes garroth who looks so dapper in his suit and tie, he comes down the stairs so fast you think he’s going to slip

“ hello girls, “ he says hitting the bottom step a little rough it makes a boom “Hello garroth” aphmau and you say in union. He leads them to the living room so they can get comfortable while dinner is still cooking. They all sit in different places. Garroth sits In a chair that’s separated from the couch and y/n is sitting on the long couch while aphmau sits on the shorter couch “So how was shopping earlier?” Aphmau says after a minute of silence “Fun “ garroth says “Okay “ y/n says awkwardly then it gets silent again until Vylad comes running down the stairs to grab aphmau so they can play their dumb game that they have been obsessed over recently “Sooooo” “so” is the only conversation at the moment “ alright I’m bored of this, show me around the house I mean I’ve been here but only as a guest “ y/n finally says “ yeah!! Okay let’s do that” garroth says excitedly getting up “ umm so this is a lamp and these are our couches and um this is our tv hm walls “ he points to ever item he sees calls its name while walking her through the house then they get to the back yard and y/n sees the tree house her and garroth used to play in when they were kids “ wow you guys still have this thing?” She says shocked “Yep, “he says smiling like an idiot cutely. Y/n begins to climb the broken ladder to the treehouse “Wait I don’t think that’s safe what if it does hold you “ he says “ RUDE!” She yells back “ No No No I didn’t mean it like that I’m sure anything could hold you I know I could with ease, “ he said trying to make it better but ended up sounding a little creepy. She made it into the tree house and is just sitting up there “Garroth come up” she yells down to him “ I don’t think it will hold me “ he says with concern for his safety “Come up anyway “ she throws her hand out of the tree house to wave him up, he begins climbing up the ladder, trembling the whole time cause it sounds like it will break but he makes it up all the way and into the small tree house with her, it’s kinda a tight space but it’s okay “ isn’t this so nostalgic, me and you up Here again “ she says while giggling and garroth couldn’t help but just fawn over her I mean look at it from his eyes, there’s this gorgeous girl who has the same sense of humor as him, listens to him talk about the most random things without telling him to be quiet and stop talking

Not to mention she’s gentle with everything even inanimate objects, she cares so very much about everything, she is just his dream girl so watching her giggle while being so close to her made him just take action and lean forward to kiss her, after a second he pulls back cause she didn’t kiss him back “ I am so sorry y/n I-“ garroth tried to say but he was cut off by y/n kissing him back, they swap spit for a few seconds then pull back again to look at each other it was silent but there breathing, she had her had placed on his chest, they held eye contact “ I’ve had a huge crush on you for a while now “ garroth whispers “ oh really I didn’t notice “ y/n says with a laugh causing garroth to laugh also she smiles while looking at him and just leans in to kiss him again” KIDSSSSSAS DINNNER IS READYYYYYYYYYY” zianna calls from inside yet somehow it sounds right in your ear. She breaks the second kiss

aphmau phase came back to kick my ass to talked about an UNDERRATTED ship from there, the gene/zenix/sasha polycule. Honestly I feel that the "shadow knights" is general is just their name for the polycule and being a shadow knight is literally just being in their relationship (hence why zane wanted in so badly in pdh s1, the man was SO in love with gene and the man was just not having it.) and also adding to my laurance and gene being exs coded agenda.

as for the ship itself, I just think that they're so cute. like sasha talks about how the main reason they skip class so much is because school doesn't teach them anything that they care to learn or that they don't know. and I LOVE me a character with intelligence and a lack of care for classic social structure. (or is just tired and lazy and they can teach the lesson if they wanted to so why would they care?)

there just a group of outliers in society (when mcd takes of shadow knight is added that statement becomes a sword) and I feel like they all just understand each other in a way that no one else really gets.

I have a lot of headcanons about all three of them, like sasha being a witch and gene's dad (who I think is a deadbeat who left when gene and dante were kids, dante doesn't remember him but gene does and it KILLS him bc he really worshiped his dad and wants him back) is a warlock, and gene tried for YEARS to practice magic so he could be like his dad but could never figure it out. sasha did her best to help him figure it all out and how he learned about his talent for potion making. I like to think that after high school sasha got a witchcraft shop that gene help make the stoke for. Zenix, who explodes something every time he tries to touch a potion mans the cash register.

speaking of zenix, I think he had a big fear of snakes as a kid and freaked out after sasha got a pet snake for the first time, refusing to go near it. But once when gene had left them both for a while to hang out with dante when he reconnected with him after love~love paradise and sasha went on a trip with a coven, zenix was left to look after the snake alone for a weekend. it was a hetic weekend full of screams and table jumps and a couple dropped mice, but by the time sasha came hope, zenix and her snake had become trauma bonded and cuddle constantly. Zenix calls the snake his "wiggle worm".

I have so many other little headcanons and can literally go on about them for hours, but the main thing that I like about them is that they aren't affined to be mean to each other or tease each other or yell at each other, bc at the end of the day they know how much they all mean to each other. most of their affection is wordless and it can be harsh, but its so deep and soulful at the same time. it doesnt matter if someone leaves or if there turmoil, they always settle together again. bc at the end of the day, they're just themselves.

Ok so basically its not like void paradox where they go to mcsm, its if they lived in the mcsm universe like always and there are no werewolves or mefwa, so aaron and nana and any others that are born like that i might just make them furries because nana wearing a fursuit is cute to me

so no mcd, no travis demon lore (no Michael), no pdh, no forever potions, no any lore like that- i basically just shove the characters in the world and now they were born and raised there- an effect of this is now the ro’meaves are a middle class family (garte is secretly loaded though this is important later)

so basically all of their personalities are the same, just not all of them know each other, like gene and dante (and travis) live in a completely different town then aphmau, garroth gets to know laurance and his brothers but thats about it for him, and aaron and nana probably live in the same town because i think it would be funny

So garroth lives nearby to the endercon venue and has been going since “before it was cool” because he loves conventions, and hears that the guest is gabriel and immediately sweet talks his dad into buying him a ticket to his show for that year and he decides that he can make this a fun family trip and brings zane and vylad (and laurance because i need this please let me have this)

so they get to the convention and do convention stuff like buying things and eating food and dressing up (he probably has a gabriel helmet) and when the time comes him and the gang go into the dome thingy that gabriel is going to be in. Vylad notices a couple people go into the basement but doesnt really think anything of it until they run out like 10 minutes later looking really scared, then he tells garroth he needs to do something wuick and that he’ll be right back. Vylad goes over to the group and asks the one he thinks looks the most confident (petra) what happened while one of them runs back into the basement. She tells him to mind his own business but that everyone in the building is in danger and to try to stay near the door and he thanks her for her advice

vylad goes back to the gang and tells them what petra told him, garroth seems disappointed but agrees so that way they can be about as safe as possible- they watch as the group tries to tell gabriel about the creepy guy in the basement. ivor starts to walk up to the stage and zanes stomach starts to twist as he has a really bad feeling about this, garroth notices and asks him whats up, and vyald takes this as a cue to leave

they all leave, laurance comforting garroth about not being able to ask a question but saying its safer that they leave as they reach the gates about to head home they hear a giant crash and screaming as people start running their way. They’re confused for about 5 seconds until the glass dome above the stage collapses and a giant monster comes out of it.

thats all i have for that part but another part is that the shadow knights go to the sunshine institute because zenix said like 10 different slurs at romeo because he said something slightly rude

I've finally posted a rewrite mini story of me rambling about a character to AO3!!

It's about Laurence, his early life and experience in the Nether.

CW// This deals with Laurence's time in the Nether, so there are descriptions of him being tortured by Shadow Knights. It's all pretty vague, nothing goes into detail detail, but still, it sucks and he's in hell...literally.

Laurence was born blind. He never got to know what his parents looked like. When Joh found him, took him, the first thing he did was listen to Laurence's request; to teach him how to fight.

The people of Meteli told Joh he was reckless for trying to train a blind teenager how to wield a sword. But Joh believed in Laurence. Afterall, the boy was taking to it almost worryingly fast.

While he could swing a sword quite well, fighting a target was a challenge for him. Any day off of lord work Joh had was spent training with Laurence, who insisted he could disarm his father this time around. And one day, he finally did. It was the happiest Laurence had ever felt, and his father was so proud of him.

The joy didn't last even to the end of the day.

That night he stood there, 'watching' his now second father die right in front of him. Of course Laurence wouldn't know how to fight against an arrow. Not with where his training was.

Many over the years babied Laurence before even really meeting him. The milky, unfocused eyes always gave them an image in their heads, and the heavy set of armor on the man's shoulders made them laugh. Some were foolish enough to challenge him to duels, and they would quickly learn that even though Meteli's head guard was blind, it didn't make him any less deadly as any other guard.

It had always been a secret. The little symbol hanging from a chain around his neck, tucked neatly under his armor and clothing. No one would view him as strange for being such a devoted Irene believer. He'll if anything that was expected of him.

Ever since the small village he was from was ransacked and pillaged by those self proclaimed 'Shadow Knights' in the name of Shad, Laurence had spent night after night begging Irene to protect him. Bring his parents back, bring Joh back, anything. The symbol of Irene was held tight to his chest. It was his prized possession, a gift from his very religious late mother.

Never in his life would he imagine it would burn him so to hold it.

Thos Shadow Knight freaks had let him keep it for a few months, or well, it had felt like months. He wasn't too sure anymore. Everything hurt, he felt like he was being pulled apart at the seams and being sewn together all at the same time.

The Nether was hot, he could hear screaming all around him, and he couldn't see a thing. That never before was a problem, hell he used to not care. But now? When he was surrounded by enemies on all sides, with innocent scattered everywhere? His blindness for once actually felt like a curse.

Of course, his captors had joked at the beginning about scooping his eyes out, that "It's not like the bastard is getting any use out of them anyways." Thankfully, they let him keep those too.

Apparently the first sign that whatever they were doing was working was when Lauremce woke up, screaming in pain as the Irene Symbol started to burn against his skin. He thought the metal had finally gotten hot enough to burn him, but according to his captors, it was common for any item blessed under Irene's eyes was like poison to Shadow Knights.

Laurence didn't want to lose faith, his own will and his faith for Irene but, it feels like he's been here for a century already. Sweating his life away chained up in this small cell, spitting I'm the faces of any cocky enough Shadow Knight that dares to ask if he's given up yet.

How he was still alive baffled him. They had drenched him in lava, they had broken every bone in his body times and times over. They forced him to listen to the unrelenting screams of millions of damned souls.

Sleep was not something Laurence could trust. Only because he was never sure when it would actually encase him. But, when it did it was confusing. He thought it was because of the stress and turama he was being forced through, but he was never too sure. He was standing on some netherack shore, an endless sea of lava before him but, it was never the scorching heat that tormented him in his waking hours, if anything it felt like a warm summer breeze. And he could see.

Laurence never really had dreams before this. He couldn't see, so he never saw anything in his dreams. But these ones? Somehow, he could. about if still completely blind.

When asking Morte about it, she told him there was no way she could 100% fix his lack of vision, as he wasn't a Netherite, but with his body converting and adapting to the Nether as it had, she could at least give him a flawed sight.

It took him a while to learn how to fight again, the new ability to see messing up his whole set of skills he had cultivated over the years.

Seeing Garroth's face for the first time was, amazing. He always knew his lover was handsome, the women of every village would gawk and whisper about the younger lord.

But seeing him? Really seeing him for the first time? All his scars, the hair he was slowly wearing longer, the Irene Symbol hung proudly around his neck. Everything about him was perfect to Laurence.

Zenix and Aphmau of course had to put him to the test as much as possible. The mischievous duo trying to sneak attack Laurence at any given opportunity possible.

His time in the Nether may have been the worst time of his life, but, part of him was glad it happened. He could see those he loved now, he had been saved from something so horrible. Even if it wasn't Irene who answered his prayers and Morte instead, he was still grateful.

Laurence was a devoted man at heart. He always was, and will always be. Even to his last undying breath.

Warning, long post

So I've mentioned my AU and it's concept on my blogs before. The premise is basically all the Targaryen's survive the rebellion and kill the Baratheons, Starks, Arryns, and Tullys for their treason. Aerys remains king but I kinda stall his madness for the sake of story telling so Jaime does not kill him.

My fic starts at the same time as the Canon books except it basically only (so far) takes place in kingslanding. All the Targ kids (Aegon, Rhaenys, Daenerys, Viserys, Jon) get their own chapters, Rhaella and Elia, get them as well. Rhaegar is the only one so far without a chapter in progress.

The story mainly follows the more domestic drama and relationships between the characters so far, with everyone having to endure Aerys. But I do add in a lot of fluff for the Targ kids so it can be sweet.

Aegon is the picture perfect prince, smart, funny, kind, good looking but he has a few problems. Aegon has some pent up hatred towards Rhaegar for abandoning the family during the rebellion, this results in Aegon being more critical and distrustful of Rhaegar, viewing Rhaegar as mad for chasing a prophecy. This extra tension since Aegon is the child who Rhaegar views as the prince who was promised and thus pays extra unwanted attention to Aegon. Aegon is very close with his siblings, and mother, feeling extremely protective of them.

Rhaenys is an intelligent, witty, charming girl. Rhaenys shares Aegons feelings towards Rhaegar for the rebellion but she's much calmer and more lenient with Rhaegar, mainly because she doesn't talk to him often, he's distant and often in his head so neither cares enough to reach out. Rhaenys is loving towards her family and often tries to keep them in line, especially Daenerys. She has a slight rivalry with Daenerys but it's largely loving. She is the only one of her siblings in a relationship, she is secretly courting Willas Tyrell, heir to Highgarden.

Viserys is much nicer and calmer than in Canon since he never had to go through the trauma of being on the run and having his family die. Viserys is a loving older brother and uncle. He's a mama's boy, he tries his best to support his mother while she deals with the abuse at Aerys hand. He has a slightly odd relationship with Aerys. Aerys spared Viserys a lot of the abuse that the other family members suffered because Viserys is his favorite son, while he was saved from the physical and mental abuse he developed a guilt of sorts, feeling guilty that while his family is hurt he is safe. This guilt causes Viserys to be a bit protective and he tries to remove his family members from the area when Aerys get violent and loud.

Daenerys is reckless and chaotic but loving. She has a complicated relationship with her father. Aerys goes from doting on his daughter in every way to yelling and screaming at her at an instant, as a result Daenerys tends to avoid being around her father unless necessary. She's extremely close to Viserys with him being her safe person, kinda seeing him as a father or a caretaker more than a brother.

All the family members that have POVs are the main characters but Jon (Aemon in my rewrite) has the biggest one planned out. Jon is the last known member of the Stark family since he's Lyannas son. Jon is raised as something similar to a prisoner, being a symbol of the war and all the people the Targaryens demolished. Jon is antagonized by Aerys frequently to the point Jon loses sleep every night over the possibility of being murdered and having dreams of being burned alive by Aerys. He feels something similar to survivors guilt, believing he didn't deserve to live, and viewing his birth as the cause of the rebellion (will alaborate if needed)and as a result the cause of death of everyone who died in the rebellion, including all the Starks and his mother. Jon is extremely paranoid and fearful. Hes so paranoid that he went mute because he was scared of saying the wrong thing and being killed, his fear is intense that he can't talk if he tried, he created a mental block to stop him. he is rarely away from Aegon who he is close to, if Aegon is in a room Jon cannot go in he'll wait by the door for Aegon to come out. Jon is close with Rhaenys as well, often going to her for comfort.

That's base info, I know there's a lot, and that's just the stuff that I'm posting, I have pages of lore I'm waiting to implement.

When Aaron wakes up, he feels pain.

Pain, unlike anything that he has felt before. Everything in his body hurts; hot yet freezing at the same time. His body feels numb from the cold. He feels everything yet nothing at the same time.

It takes him a moment to realize his throat is hurting because he is screaming in pain; a shriek of pain, anger, and sorrow about what had happened.

He is still bleeding, a pool of blood surrounding him. He is wounded, with slices covering his entire body and a knife to his chest. His clothes are tattered by Aphmau, constantly slicing the knife at him.

He breathes heavily, constantly groaning in pain at any slight movement he makes with his arms. His arms feel heavy and weak. It takes everything in him to raise his arms. He stares at his hands for a moment and it looks pale. He doesn't feel his hands when he closes them into a fist, still too cold to process anything other than trying to get himself to move.

He lifts his head with effort as he wills his hands to grab the handle of the knife in his chest. He shakily breathes, inhaling and exhaling close to panicking. He lifts the knife slowly and his breath hitches, feeling the cold steel blade against his also cold body.

He pauses in lifting the knife from his chest, shaky breaths escaping his lips. His hands are trembling from the cold. He grips tightly on the knife and with a shout; he removes the knife from his chest.

The knife lands next to him and his arms fall back to the ground after extensive effort to remove the sharp object from his chest. He feels blood pouring out from where the knife was in his chest.

He lifts his head and immediately drops it back to the ground when he feels lightheaded.

"I need to get up…" he says, voice raspy from the screaming earlier. He tries sitting up, but the action itself sends him into a blind of pain. He can lift himself from the ground a few centimeters high for his body to feel the excruciating pain and lie back in the cold snow. "It hurts…"

He feels bruises everywhere in his body. Attempting to move his legs just by a little hurt. There are broken bones in his body and he knows it with the way his ribs pierce through his lungs as he breathes, a piercing feeling that leaves him unable to breathe for a few minutes.

"I… can't… die here…" he wheezes out the words, his voice too weak to say it loudly and clearly. He breathes slowly, concentrating on the way his chest moves up and down to still feel that he is alive and to get a semblance of control over his body.

He thinks back to when his father caught him trying to sneak out to go to Aphmau's home. His father reminded him to stay away from her after his declaration that he loved her, and the deal they made so he could go to a public school instead of a military academy. He got upset and his father reminded him of the consequences of what happens if he couldn't control himself before sending him back to his room.

"I… don't want… to be alone…" he admitted to no one. He makes another attempt to get his body to move, but it doesn't work. It makes him frustrated. He needs to move. He needs to get up.

But every attempt he's made isn't working. No matter how hard he exerts his body to move, he can't. He is too exhausted to move, to think. All he feels is the pain in his body and believes it's a miracle for him to not be dying again.

His lips tremble at how lonely he truly feels, with no one by his side at this moment. He is alone and in pain. There is no one to comfort him or reassure him that everything's going to be okay.

He thinks back to when he was invited to hang out during college, but a guard from his father prevented him from approaching closer to them. He told the guard he just wanted to make friends, but the guard wouldn't let him. His father wouldn't allow him because he decided to visit Phoenix Drop High, which almost led to his secret being exposed of him being the Ultima Werewolf. He wasn't allowed to have any privacy in his life. He was all alone.

"It doesn't have to be like that…" His body feels numb from the cold the longer he stays lying on the snow. He can't feel his fingertips. His lips are parched and chapped. His throat is sore and dry. "Not anymore…!"

He hears a whine beside him, so he forces his head to turn in that direction. He sees the same wolf he took care of when it was injured. Its ears and tail are lowered down as it looks at him.

"It's you," he hoarsely whispered. His lips pull downward when he sees the young wolf being worried about him.

The young wolf whines and whimpers as it moves closer to his body, providing some warmth when its fur touches his exposed skin. He never knew how cold he felt until that moment.

"Don't cry… I'll be fine…" he reassures the young wolf. "I just…—" He sucks in a sharp breath when his ribs pierce his lungs— "... need to pull… myself together."

His gaze lowers to the young wolf's leg, and seeing part of his torn jacket wrapped around its leg reminded him of the time when he and Aphmau were practicing the Romeo and Juliet stage play. She remembered that the bandanna he wore was the same one back in high school, which flustered him quite a bit. She questioned him why he was still wearing the bandanna over his eyes and he couldn't find it in himself to come up with a lie, so he stayed quiet instead of answering her question.

She apologized for crossing his boundaries and apologized even more for what happened between them back at high school. He reassured her, telling her that he would never abandon her, and how she made him happy. She told him of how she missed seeing his eyes and he almost slipped at how he couldn't control his power. But knowing how happy it made Aphmau gave him enough courage to remove his bandanna to show her his eyes—his normal, dark eyes that she loved. They hugged, and she asked if he would always be there for her, and he agreed.

"I won't give up!" he shouts as he uses all his strength to get himself to stand up. Thinking of her reminds him of who he is fighting for and why he still hasn't given up. "I am going to get you back, Aphmau." He tears off the sleeves of his jacket to use as a cover for his eyes.

He is filled with a new profound determination, but the short adrenaline doesn't last long and almost falls back to the ground if it weren't for the young wolf moving by his side as a support. He breathes in sharply when he feels his ribs pierce his lungs. He moved too much.

He looks at the young wolf with a small smile and gently rubs it behind its ears. "Thank you," he breathed out.

He then looks at the ground where his body had previously lay and grimaces at the amount of blood staining the snow. It's everywhere. Anyone who might stumble upon this would believe that someone died in this area.

Died…

He still finds it hard to believe that he died. There's a hollow feeling in his chest and even though he knows he is living with the way he breathes and the way his heart beats, it is still too slow to be normal.

He still feels ‌disconnected from his body.

And he doesn't know if it's because he had been brought back to life because of the mysterious lady, or because of the numbing feeling from his body touching the snow for who knows how long.

His skin is still pale, likely from the blood loss, but patches of his skin with different shades of red, some are white or blue. He touches those areas and they feel numb, yet tingly. Hypothermia, perhaps? Or is it frostbite?

He doesn't know which one, but he knows the numb yet tingly feeling isn't a good thing to be feeling.

He takes a step forward and he would have fallen if the young wolf wasn't supporting most of his body weight. His legs are wobbly and stiff. It's hard to get it moving without him stumbling immediately.

He continues walking, taking slow steps forward as drips of blood fall to the snow. He walks in the direction of where the cabin is and hopes there are medical supplies he can use to treat his injuries.

Aaron leaves the area with a young wolf by his side as support, with a trail of blood following behind him.

I kept on seeing a lot of people on tt say "check jess' account" whenever someone says the age gap between Aarmau is weird. Jess was addressing herself and Jason, not Aphmau and Aaron.

• Why am I talking about Aarmau?

Okay well 1 I was actually bored and 2 I also wanted to talk on how overrated it is (just in case: I have watched MCD, PDH and MS since I was very young though I don't remember much because my interests have shifted but Aphmau is still one of my favourite ykyk).

- Aarmau, Overrated?

Ok so, you can say it's basically because of the series I watched which of course will consist of Aarmau. In MCD, I found Aaron's relationship with Aphmau very rushed, too quick for me to say it was properly developed (my opinion) and, yes, you can say they probably did things off camera but I feel like it still lacks. They banged in the forest and then have a baby? What?? That's so random?? I will not be bringing Laurence or Garroth in this conversation. I used to find Aarmau cute because young me was very obvious to it's flaws and now I see them and, I'm sorry, I just can't unsee it 💀. Personally Aphmau should've been single in MCD.

Is your parents/grandparents in the show 😭? The only connection is the age gap tbh

Ok but on a serious note; so much has happened ever since Aarmau became a thing. Yeah, it could be plot reasons but I feel like they're doomed like, doomed "you shouldn't be together" doomed. Is that just me? Maybe? Yes? No?

I absolutely did NOT feel some sort of sympathy when Aaron died. To me, it felt like Aphmau was grieving over someone she barely knew.

The relationship felt like Protective Alpha with his OP omega wife. It makes me tweak.

Edit : I also noticed how everyone became OOC when Aaron appeared so that he looks good, so that he fits the role of the perfect MMC (male main character) for the FMC (female main character) and I'm just a lil pissed off GRRRAHHHHH

not to be an angsty fucker but my head is very much plagued with thoughts of laurance— and now particularly diaries laurance and what seeing mystreet laurance would mean for him.

when it comes to the actual story bits, i’m still very unsure with the specifics but i know diaries laurance and kyi have a tragic ending.

the void and divine warriors/gods play a part in it— i do know that— and it also involves kyi sacrificing himself (er, me sacrificing myself).

we’ve never had exactly a nice love story either. it involves a lot of distrust and tears, and abandonment. happiness doesn’t last, and we knew that, but i think at some point we thought maybe we could be happy. maybe for once the world would be kind.

that’s not what happens of course.

mystreet in general is the “happier” diaries— it was made that way by lord aphmau (by then fully embraced herself as irene). so of course, kyi and laurance have a happy ending. aphmau-irene designed it that way.

hearing mystreet laurance talk about their life together, mundane and ordinary, but it’s something diaries laurance always wanted with kyi but couldn’t have— can’t have. i think he really couldn’t handle seeing mystreet laurance so happy— (“woah, you got a cool sword, man!”) not knowing how many lives he’d taken with one just like this.

whatever helpless and sick feelings he’s ever felt in his life— the sick shit that screams at him that he’s a monster— it just comes flooding back. he thought he was fine, okay, able to get past this, but he can’t.

and he’s angry. he’s really angry because why not him too?

why didn’t he get the hand holding in the hallways, the rainy day cuddles, the good morning and goodnights, the stupid and petty arguments.

why did he get weeks of feelings of betrayal lingering in his stomach until he felt sick, irrepressible thoughts that have him curling in on himself so tight, not being able to even recognise himself in the mirror because since when did he look so tired.

why did he get the unfortunate fate of having to holding the person he loves most in the world and say goodbye knowing it’s the last ‘i love you’ he’ll ever say.

and when mystreet laurance asks: “what about you? your kyi?”

diaries laurance nods and says: “i love him– he’s home” and it’s only a half-lie.

Aaaaah!!!

I've been screaming this at the top of my lungsssss for FIVE YEARS!!!!

The character of Aphmau has always been a self insert character for Jess. From the start. However, the first person take to MCD and Early Mystreet never made it feel like a a self insert. Aphmau' (as she was written) character was never shoved at the viewer as the main focus, nor was her personality so non-descript that she felt like a blank slate.

We explored the world through Aphmau's eyes, got a more personal look into each character, and even though Aphmau is supposed to be a representation of Jess it doesn't work both ways, and Aphmau (as she is written) has her own character that is specific to her. Mainly her instinct to help others, no matter what it is, it makes her happy to see the community around her happy. Another way that we got to see her personality was in how others characters saw her, and how how other characters interacted with her. It is something I personaly miss, because the character of Aphmau really showed in how she interacted with others. How she treated them, and how they responded to her.

And she didn't need a traumatic background or an epic destiny to accomplish be that.

As we came away from the days of mcd and mystreet season 1 we also came away from that simple nature of character driven plot and instead more into plot that drives the characters. Which naturally diluted the other characters as the plot became Aaron Aarmau.

I think that inadvertently took away from Aphmau's personality. The optimistic but still serious and capable woman running a community on emotional intelligence and will alone, traded in. In its place... adhd smol girl to contrast Aaron's big strong-ness.

Somewhere Aaron became the solution to most conflicts. Very "Twilight" coded (movie not the books).

The Aaron-ing was more than just a poorly written love interest plot. It was the plot being EATEN. Slowly over time.

Invalid take maybe but throughout the progression of Aphmau's roleplays, characters have gotten less and less exciting as a lot of things have been taken away and put on Aaron's and Aphmau's character, discarding lots of story from the other characters, especially in Mystreet.

For some example, Laurence and Garroth became less interesting because some traits were put into Aaron and Aaron became the new troubled cursed man with issues, which was Laurence's story. Aaron's family problems were looked at deeper than Garroth, who's had family problems from the start.

Travis was more deep, and I'm not saying he isn't anymore, but his character really swallowed, like all the men in the early mystreet seasons. Dante's caring behavior was coming erased and faded away to be just another competitor for Aaron early on.

They all still have their moments, you could say, but most characters that haven't been completely not used in Mystreet have been faded to a background in some way, because Aphmau and Aaron really steal a lot of the spotlight.

The beginning of Minecraft Diaries was all in first person, so it feels so odd that later, which is more 2nd and 3rd person, have been capable of actually lessening the character's depth and perspectives shown.

I decided to watch Void Paradox

I'm about five minutes into the first episode and I'm still not entirely sure if this is a good idea or not, but Laurance has already spoken like three lines of dialogue and I felt my heart wrench at just one of them, so clearly I'm in too deep now.

This post serves as my live tweeting/mental break down that I am currently having as we speak. It is very incomprehensible because it is literally just my thoughts as they happen, and given how much I have to say, I'll probably make proper posts out of a lot of these points once I finish the series.

This mess is just giving you a taste of the madness I truly posses.

I am only three minutes in before I have to pause and feel the urge to scream about how bad the dialogue in Aphmau series can be. Like this series is fairly okay, especially based on the standard set by her other shows but man... something is just not working here. The whole thing feels very clunky and while I can get the gist of what Jess is going for, the execution of said gist is leaving a lot to be desired.

Literally nobody talk to me I need to scream about Laurance Zvahl because he is EVERYTHING in this series. The way he very softly says Aph's name when he sees her, the immediate instinct to hug her because he's so relieved to see her, the fact that you can hear the smile in his voice the minute he registers that she's there and alive!! AUGH I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!

And I literally screamed when he revealed that he was transported to this AU right at the end of season 1. Oh my Irene, I screamed. I collapsed. I was truly defeated by a single line of dialogue. I don't know where this series is going to go but I am here for it. And the fact that he knows Garroth did it and hid it from her???

I can't overstate how genuinely healing it is to hear Laurance fully voice acted. I know Sebastian Todd is retired from voice acting, but when he retired, he took down all his posts, including what I considered to be a comfort video. That video of him reading iconic Laurance lines from before he was in mcd/lines he just didn't act? That video was my everything when I was trying to hold onto this version of the character I knew I loved who was different to what Jess made him. When that video got taken down it was a major cowabummer bc there's so little properly voice acted Laurance content that isn't mcd Season 3 or My Street stuff (and I can't stand My Street like 80% of the time)

Hearing his voice, hearing him get to be properly expressive, it's just doing things to me man. I missed this character a lot. I've mostly been enjoying him through fan content or my own work. It's nice to say I enjoy a piece of canon content involving him, at least so far.

Still not sure how I feel about literally anything else. The whole relationship between Aph and Tommy feels very... weird. She describes herself as "basically his mother" after she's left with him, and treats him like it in the opening scene. But then when he's mocking her for being attracted to Laurance (so relatable), it seems really weird for a [checks wiki] 14 year old kid to be calling out his mom for finding someone hot. Feels a lot more like sibling dialogue to me? Which I guess they could be seen as siblings, but the series explicitly stated that she views it like motherhood??? But I don't think Jess is even thinking that deeply about it, I just over analyze her work for fun at this point.

Okay what the actual fuck is going on with the inside of this house???

Why is the color scheme purple and yellow? And not in any kind of flattering way which is possible with opposite colors, it just has both of them. The wallpaper changes when you get into the living room except not entirely on the windows, and in an earlier scene it looked like it wasn't even put onto all of the walls. And the wood that she used as supports just does not compliment either of these colors as they are. Just make it all purple, you know you want to Jess.

Also is the texture on the table and the glass the same??? I don't know a damn thing about modding or making texture/data packs for minecraft but that just seems. odd.

The way his voice breaks as despair sets in?? The fact that he's no doubt pieced together that Garroth probably stole the amulet and plans to use it to hurt Aph and he can't do anything about it?? I'm literally losing it.

How did I not watch this series before.

Literally about to cry over him just calling Aph "M'lady" out of pure instinct. He didn't consciously do that. He just misses her that much.

What in my Mystreet just screams to you “wasted potential”? For me it was the gene and Dante dynamic. I mean I’m glad to see them wholesome but cmon make Dante more interesting! The only other mildly interesting SINGLE character aka the one not thrown into a stupid romance plot is Lucinda. IVY HAS MORE DEVELOPMENT THAN DANTE.

i love that you point out ivy had more development than dante because you’re literally correct. dante’s character has literally not changed in the slightest from how he acted in highschool, which is not only mega unrealistic but is so bbborriinnggg. he’s this flirty guy but that’s like… it. i think dante was definitely wasted potential.

another thing that was wasted potential was 100000% laurance in season 6. okay look i GET it he was cut from mystreet for reasons that aren’t a part of the show but dude SERIOUSLY. i’m just saying. take these old notes i made a year ago (mostly regard laurance during the whole garroth thing LMAO):

laurance bolting to garroth's side the moment he falls after aaron looks at him: "GARROTH! no no no no, speak to me buddy! garroth? garroth!", absolutely on edge when garroth's screaming in pain, unsure of what to do and unable to comfort him, "laurance you need to let the doctor work" "he needs me! im staying.", laurance not leaving garroths bedside the entire time that he was struggling to live (he's the one who assures the others he'll let them know if anything happens while theyre out at the party), laurance getting angry far too easily, honestly causing a bit of issues between others, aphmau telling him to maybe step away and him refusing, "he's my best friend, i'm not leaving him", laurance being FURIOUS at aaron and even refusing to talk or acknowledge him (laurance seeing garroth forgiving aaron but being unable to let go of it himself), laurance alerting everyone of garroth when he gains consciousness, as garroth recovers and gets used to his new form laurance helps him re-learn how to walk, laurance slowly calming down around aaron yet still being relatively snappy towards him, he’s the bitch that snaps garroth out of his forever potion thingy, honestly he could probably die i think that’d be funny and sad as long as he was THERE.

um yeah laurance could have been really cool.
