Scary Sunset.

I'm concepting things way outta order in this story, but I'm sure you can piece things together. Context is for a storybeat where, after defeating and capturing Adagio (thus having all three sirens in her possession), Sunset enacts her revenge plot to release the sirens on Canterlot as Thea discovers she's been manipulated. In a confrontation, the two scuffle and fight over the siren orbs while Sunset struggles with her conflicting wants and emotions.

once again thinking about jason as duke’s robin. he’s ~4 years younger than jason, and that puts him at 8-12 during Jason’s time as robin. that’s prime time to get attached to your local kid vigilante before your own life goes downhill.

and if we try to keep duke’s meeting with bruce in zero year + duke’s age (so he can remember the meeting and hold that conversation with bruce), he has to be around 8. if he starts following batman through the news at that time because of the mess that just happened, the robin he sees is probably jason. I’ve literally connected the dots

Eurylochus is a very interesting character to me especially as both a parallel and foil to Odysseus. I could talk a lot about the different between Euryolochus in the Circe Saga and Odysseus in the Thunder Saga in regards to "sacrificing" the crew, but right now i want to talk about the brown cow and why neither he or the crew heeded Odysseus's warning because i see too many people interpreting it as an arrogant mistake.

Starvation has been a very big driving motif in the story. A very human need and the original catalyst that leads them to the cyclops in the first place. However many of the cyclops's sheep they were able to take, they have long since run out by Mutiny no doubt. They are starving.

Eurylochus's line "Ody, we're never gonna get to make it home You know it's true" communicates to me that at this point he doesn't plan to. Him and the crew no longer really intend to survive because of how stacked the odds have been and how tired they are. They're not doing this to sabotage Odysseus or because they don't understand the risk or see what he sees. "How much longer must i go about my life like this when people die like this?" They know they're going to die but it won't be from starving. They're tired. Odysseus has to beg them to go faster to try and escape because he's the only one who cares to.

"But we'll die" isn't him asking Odysseus how he could do this to them, it's not spoken in shock, it's making him say it and accept it and understand the choice he's going to make because no matter how much Eurylochus "deserves it", it's not a light decision no matter how sure he makes it. Zeus knew it from the start and the entire crew knew it too. It's not a request, not full of spite, it's spoken by a man who has already long begun to grieve his own death. There's reason to say Odysseus would be the exact same if he wasn't so connected to the idea Penelope presents as stability and peace.

the fixation of fandom these days on there always being a Black and a White. A Right and a Wrong. A Villain and a Victim. is soooo fucking tragic and frankly REALLY DAMN ANNOYING

especially in stuff where like..if THAT'S your priority? you've missed the entire damn point. and yet it always is. so loudly.

look beyond your blorbo. your kintype. your CC. your f/o. look beyond your otp. look beyond your found family dynamic and actually absorb what's going on with the other characters. i'm begging.

honestly do a study on the characters you hate most or care about the least. take a half an hour to put yourself in their shoes

no this isn't an anti-shipping, anti-kinning, anti-selfship, or anti-blorboing post, because i don't think those are the things that inherently ruin characters or tags or whatever other ppl think. but if you do do that, it'll make it even better if you look at a larger scope beyond that as well I promise
