April chose just that second to climb down the ladder into the lair, muttering about Cass cutting ahead and leaving her behind, huffing and puffing as she went. She spotted Cerul and stopped, slowly walking towards him. 

Guess it was clear on his face. 

…maybe that was a good thing. 

“You good, big guy?” April asked, brow knitted. 

Cerulean paused, thinking for a moment. 

He could lie. Say, yeah I’m fine, nothing’s wrong, I’ll be fine. 

And he was. But that wasn’t the whole truth. 

Maybe…maybe it was best to say what he could when he could. Let the people around him know how he was actually feeling, especially about all of this. 

“Don’t hide,” Blue had muttered, soft and careful, like he was doing everything he could to hold Cerul in his hands despite being half his size. “I’m here. Let it out, Diamond.”

on the days when some of the melusine get sick, neuvillette wishes he could stay home.

the heartbroken wails of his sick littlest ones pierce his heart – but as chief justice, he rarely gets to take the day off. even after scouring the pages of the fontainian law books, he finds nothing that allows him to take parental leave because his child is sick... because you're a stay at home parent.

(therefore, the responsibility falls onto you to take care of the little ones, as much as neuvillette would like to share it with you.)

early in the morning, you feel some sort of movement within your bed... you sleepily turn to look at neuvillette getting up and walking to your littlest's room.

"it's alright, ma trésor... papa's here." you can hear him attempting to soothe little puca.

puca's cries resound through the halls of the house, neuvillette's quiet shh-shhs soon following. it's not long til you hear the sobs that turn to whimpers, a sweet picture of puca laying her head on your husband's shoulder forming.

it doesn't get better when everyone is awake. iara, puca, and mela are all now down with the same cold puca cried her little lungs out for last night, and all three sweethearts sniffle at the dining table, hot soup freshly ladled out in front of them.

"papa, don't go! please?" iara cries, tugging on neuvillette's sleeve. justice has no time left to waste, and neither does your husband.

"i'm sorry, ma petit ange, but i have to go to work," neuvillette responds remorsefully, picking up iara and placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"but i don't want you to go! stay home! i want to stay with you!" iara wails, burying her head in neuvillette's shoulder. he begins to bounce her gently on his hip.

"i'll see all of you tonight, ma chérie. alright? i'll come back early today."

at last, little iara's hands seem to finally let go of neuvillette's shirt, her sobs still wracking her frame.

"come here, sweet girl," you gently hug her from behind, gathering the little melusine in your arms. iara bursts into wails once she hugs you tightly, heart broken over feeling sick and having to say goodbye to papa.

you distract the children while neuvillette slips away to work, undetected. the rest of the day goes somewhat smoothly, with the older ones helping out around the house while the younger ones rest in bed.

by the time the clock says that papa was about to come home, all of the little melusines that lived in your household were all fast asleep, hands softly tucked under the covers.

"i'm home-" neuvillette walks in, setting his work bag down. why was it so quiet? a typical day included a chorus of "welcome home, papa!" and the pitter-pattering of melusine feet padding to the doorway.

"mon cœur! please, calme– i just got the bébés to take a nap," you shush him, cracking open the door to the melusine's room, just a touch.

neuvillette wants to laugh. never in his... centuries? eons? of life, did he ever think he would have evolved to be a man of domesticity.

but even while izana was slowly dying from blood loss he moved his eyes to look at kakucho who was leaning over his body

kakucho's eyes widened with tears and izana calling their adoptive parent 'mom' for the first time... he just wished it was under better circumstances

he izana coughs "can..you make it home for me?.. tell ma I love her.. that I've always loved her.."

"izana- yes- please stop taking.. you can tell her that yourself!" kakucho stumbles over his words

"hey..you two, come back home ok? promise me you'll only come back with few injuries" [name] their legal adoptive parent asked with a quiet voice

she stood by the front door of izana's and kakucho's childhood house

kakucho nodded, agreeing with izana

they both gave their parent a warm hug izana departed to his bike first while kakucho stayed behind

kakucho turned around to leave the porch and got on his own motorbike and waved to his mother while izana smiled softly at her before they drove off together

she probably was waiting for so long for them to get back.. like they always did.. together

he then looked to the right and saw the TV on, and a figure peacefully sleeping on the couch

he slowly walked around the couch, kakucho stood in front of his parent and gently shook her shoulder and she woke up

I was at work doing my final client's nails for today; she just wanted some French-tip nails with some gems on something pretty simple. As I was doing that, I saw that Josh had texted me, saying that he was on the way to come see me at my workspace.

I just chuckled while cleaning up my space. As I was wiping down the table, I felt Josh's presence around me, and he touched me, causing me to jump a little.

"It's okay, Josh; just don't distract me while I'm cleaning," I said as I proceeded to clean my table and equipment.

I snapped back into my senses as he walked up towards me, handing me the roses, which were my favorite, especially since they were white.

my friend shared a picture of a pet betta fish inside a plastic cup in clear view of a pet cat trying to get it and im really upset :( i wrote a bit about fish care below the cut :)

disclaimer: my familiarity begins and ends with smaller freshwater fish, there are different needs of different fish ^_^ this is not an exhaustive list of what fish need, just some fast and loose observations to better understanding fish!

are fish right for you?

if you dont like pets you cant directly interact with (ex. pet, pick up) or cant watch do exciting things (ex. climb, play), fish might not be a good match!

when properly cared for, fish can live long and grow large (think your massive goldfish and koi), which might be more than you signed up for from first purchase! if you think you cant keep up with the needs of a big boy like that, consider a different species!

if you take death badly, block my fish husbandry tag. oh god dont even look at it.

if you think "i pay enough on the water bill," ill be real with you. a box full of water sounds like the opposite of your solution here.

stress

the big takeaway: EVERYTHING LIVES WORSE AND DIES FASTER WHEN THEY ARE STRESSED.

the general rule of pet keeping is you um. dont want to be responsible for pet neglect <3 ignoring what your fish (singular or plural!) need easily stresses them out!

here are some big ones i see overlooked:

tapping the glass: while tapping the glass means your fish move and scatter, it also means you are scaring them! dont do that. goes out to the little ones too, please?

overpopulation: i see this one more often with fish collectors as opposed to more casual keepers. as a general rule of thumb, its a gallon to every inch of fish! you might need even more with more aggressive fish. its not their natural environment to be tail to mouth with fish, this will often increase aggression among fish for territory.

coverage: many fish need hiding spaces to feel safe. this is where decorations come in! some fish need leafy plants, others like holes to duck into. many stores will carry all sorts of cute themes and colors, just look out for rough or sharp edges!

stress cant always be avoided! this isnt life advice, i mean you gotta transport them and clean out tanks LOL

tank size

dont keep your fish in cups man. betta fish need 5 gallons minimum. male bettas are territorial and will kill each other in the same tank. its cheaper and space efficient to keep them in cups. this is unhealthy for the betta fish. please buy a tank or dont buy the fish.

you want to see your fish do more than look like a floating corpse? give them space to swim. please.

i hate to compare fish to other animals because their needs are completely different but heres something i need to stress: if the idea of keeping a dog in a cage all hours of the day sounds bad, can you imagine how this might translate to fish?

tank cleanliness

dont play with stagnant water.

dont make YOUR PET play with stagnant water. get a water filtration system to keep your water cycling.

depending on the tank size and the fish you keep, expect to change anywhere from 10-20% of the water like. ehhh a month LOL. theres stuff for that you can buy! this goes great with any plants you might keep!

water gets nasty when anything lives in it 24/7. i would not live in a swimming pool myself, no.

if you dont think it sounds possible for you to do yourself, what are friends for! dont pull anything moving that water, lift with your knees, not your back.

i personally feel this is where most of the upkeep in fish husbandry comes from. if you got this down, youll be set for long term! :)

also, algae is actually a good sign! your tank is a good environment for life to grow and some fish eat it, you can also just. stick somethin in there and take it out if the growth gets too much, its not too hard

tank mates

some fish are aggressive. some are community fish! some even school! do your due diligence trying to find what fish are compatible. (your safest bet will always be similarly sized communal fish)

dont get any kind of fish that are too small! they will get eaten.

often you will come across advice on ratios of sex of one species. this is because male fish may:

harass each other for territory

harass female fish and stress them out (more females mean the attention is more widely spread)

some fish thrive with their own species, they are called schooling fish! the amount of fish in a school changes by species

other fish will kill each other. dont put two male bettas in a tank.

other fish may be beneficial for your wider tank health! bottom feeders are a personal favorite fish of mine :)

sometimes, you can even have other kinds of animals cohabiting! :) snails, shrimp, frogs are all possibilities! (cant do frogs myself, tank too deep) (there are some genuinely gorgeous shrimp though)

again, the amount of fish you have should be proportional to your tank size. dont get too many fish for a tank, you will run into overpopulation issues

out of tank mates matter too! please be considerate of your other pets and whether they can do stunts like hit the tank or fall in.

conclusion

fish are great pets! theyre gorgeous and honestly a great if stressful (<3) experience personally! but they are pets and not props that need to be properly looked after if you want your fish happy and healthy.

do your research before buying a fish and it will save you a lot of grief and surprise! its a fairly well covered hobby, i can promise any question you have was probably answered in a forum five years ago. again, im just a tumblr blog with one fishs experience.

if you buy a betta fish please dont keep them in the cup you buy them in, i might cry for real this time.

He was floating on cloud nine, as he giggled. ‘Och, ah'm actin’ like a wee schoolgirl with a crush!’ he thought, leaning against the wall. ‘But Simon loves me back…’ he beamed, letting out a breath. Price came over, and saw Soap. He must've had the dumbest lovestruck look on his face, because he was pulled out of his thoughts by Price speaking. “Soap, you good? Soap beamed, standing up straight. “Aye, ah'm fine, Captain. But ah just had ma first kiss ‘s all!” He giggled again, causing Price to raise an eyebrow and tilt his head slightly to the side. ��What? Soap beamed and rushed to his room. He pulled out his sketchbook, flipping past the various drawings of Ghost to a blank page. He sat down at his desk with a pencil, and began sketching the small amount of Ghost's face he'd been able to see. The Glasgow smile that was reduced to faded scars, the blondish-brown stubble, the way his lips curved into that sultry smirk. He made sure to capture every detail, and he let out a sigh as he finished. He added some shading where the mask casted a shadow, kicking his feet slightly as he did so. He let out another sigh. He flipped back to one of his earlier sketches, one of Ghost sitting in an armchair in the medical bay, asleep. He'd looked so peaceful, and Soap just had to capture it. He'd added the finishing touches after Ghost had left.

He smiled, running a thumb along the lineart, careful not to smudge anything. He let out a breath, closed his sketchbook, and stood up to go head out for training. He stepped out of his room, and as he walked past a supply closet, he felt something hit him in the head, hard enough to knock him unconscious. Time seemed to slow as he fell, his vision starting to go black. ‘Simon…ah need help…’ and then he hit the ground, and everything went black.
