Why I'm not big into TFP Arcee

Now don't get me wrong, TFP Arcee is the only version of the character I'll ever give almost 100% respect. However, I'm really tired of all the gushing and praise she gets, and that's not counting how much I ended up hating her in S2. Now, admittedly, most of my beef with her is in her treatment of Smokescreen, but in light of @chaoticcreatorgardendean's points about her characterization in S1, I'll lightly tackle her problems there.

No worries, this - shouldn't, I hope - be as bad as my dressing down of Jack.

So, when Arcee is introduced, we're told in pretty rapid fashion that she's 1 an aft-kicker in her own right, 2 has a traumatic backstory that left her with a procupine-like exterior to everyone, and 3 that she's very much not all that caring. Yes, I clearly recall her protective streak with Jack; however, that came after she ditched housesitting duty in favor of blowing off steam on patrol. Right here, we see a couple of vices to Arcee's character: she's arrogant in how her skills are used (further emphasized with her arguing against being Jack's guardian), and that she is irresponsible. Face it, she knows better than anyone in the audience that Bulkhead's got a spine made out of chocolate when it comes to kids or pressure of any kind that's not from a Decepticon. To leave him in charge with Miko, the single most strong-willed being in this continuity after Optimus and Megatron, is so reckless and immature that it borders on stupidity. No, she didn't realize that Miko would join the battlefield, but it's pretty dang clear that Miko is a force of nature unto herself. Butter spines + Bombs of willpower = the Butter spines losing. That's just a fact, and it tells us that Arcee, while pretty and bad-butt, has many flaws.

Then comes her saga of arcs with Jack. Not only is she shown to be immature and hypocritical when the race episode comes up, but she also chafes/bites back at authority, even from Optimus. Don't forget, anytime Airachnid or Starscream/revenge was on the table, she flew off the handle and went straight for the kill, practically giving the finger to Optimus numerous times while doing so. Heck, I don't think Optimus even grounded her at base for her insubordination, and while that's kinda respectable insofar as Optimus not being harsh to his pseudo family, it's a tactical risk when letting Arcee's wrath and hatred go unchecked or even unpunished. No joke, Arcee continually almost got herself and others killed when she was greedy for revenge or offended by a bratty kid; the fact that she's not really punished (I'm not counting the race episode because she still disobeyed orders to make Jack look good for the stupid chick) at all is a writing and military failure on everyone involved. Letting her get away with this and not learning from her mistakes, when even Miko (who was also filled to the brim with rage and grief) knew after killing Hardshell that it didn't change what she felt/what happened, is - I don't even know how to categorize it.

Yeah, it's relatable that Arcee is like this, but it's stupid that she doesn't learn, not to mention dangerous for those who try acting like her. In real life, there would have been severe consequences for her actions but, since this is fantasy land where strong females can do whatever and walk away scot-free, a blind eye is turned to Arcee.

Now we come to my biggest problem.

Her treatment of Smokescreen.

I understand that his attitude/personality at first is gonna grate on her nerves, but even slow Bulkhead gave him a better wakeup call by saying what amounted to, "Look at me, kid. You really think war is easy and that you can just go in guns blazing and jump us closer to victory?"

Pits of Kaon, that was literally more thoughtful and thought provoking than Arcee's demeaning points. All she ever did was make him the butt of her own sarcastic commentary, pick on him with various condescending nicknames, and then lash out whenever he was already kicking himself for messing something up. Smokescreen held himself to high standards, an issue that Bulkhead knew and empathized with due to his own insecurities, and tried to comfort him and lift the burden from his shoulders. Smokescreen wouldn't take it because he knew he'd been the one to fail, and felt like a failure and dead weight whenever his presence didn't bring something good to the table. He never wanted it to be all about glory, or fame, or really anything superficial. He just wanted to prove his worth, carry his weight, and do his part.

But Arcee never or wouldn't see that. Instead, she just saw a kid with a supposedly inflated ego and chose to read him the riot act when he was already doing that to himself fourteen different ways from Sunday. She didn't care enough about Smokescreen to actually listen and think "Okay, that's what's going on in his head"; she just wanted someone who would "take things seriously" and was gonna verbally abuse him until he "got the message".

Sweetheart, if you want him to mature, you help him by guiding his steps, nurturing his virtues, and helping him up when he's fallen. You don't do it by telling him how much he stinks for not grasping the state of things in the time it takes to blink, or by kicking him when he's down. All that tells him is that he's a waste of time for the people he's dedicated his whole life to helping, which in turn will make him self-destruct. Now luckily, Smokescreen was of a stronger constitution, and therefore shook off the doubt and fear of ineptitude when faced with bigger problems, but if he were anyone else, who's to say he wouldn't have eaten a bullet out of despair? Arcee would've then had the blood of an innocent life on her conscience, and nothing could have made up for that.

I do, objectively, like TFP Arcee, especially compared to her alternate counterparts.

I just can't stand how she got off so easily so many times.

okay following up though... i understand that you are jewish and Israeli but (not trying to attack you, just trying to understand) how can you stand with the state of Israel after seeing the numbers of atrocities that the IDF has committed - of course the hostages should be released, but palestine will cease to exist if this continues and this is an active genocide. people are being displaced and thousands have died. how can you in good conscience stand with the actions of Israel ?

im still assuming this is in good faith! i do appreciate that you're asking and not attacking, it's really nice change of pace tbh. please understand that my ethnicity and my political opinions are not the same thing and how i feel about the state of israel is divorced from my religious beliefs. i just also believe that my people have a right to live in our indigenous land. i also believe palestinians should be able to live in israel (many already do.) anyway, here's the deal.

first, im not israeli, but my family is. i was born and raised in the u.s. while most of my family is israeli, i am not (yet.) im an american jew with strong roots in israel.

second! israelis have been displaced since october, since the attacks by hamas, the governing body of gaza. they've been attacked and killed for years (the whole reason the iron dome exists is because missiles are such an active threat.) getting displaced or killed has happened to israelis and gazans. its terrible for everyone. i am human, and therefore uncomfortable with war, but i don't think it's a genocide. i am horrified by the deaths in gaza. i hate that innocents are being harmed. i don't want to add a however, but there's a big one- it's that the ratio of killed militants v.s civilians is unfathomably low. if israel wanted to kill everyone in gaza (which is 100% not the goal) they would be dead already. the war is active now only to eradicate hamas, which would be beneficial to gazans and israelis, and to rescue the hostages. israel has offered to end the war multiple times and hamas has refused.. because they refuse to return the people they kidnapped. the war could've been over months ago!!! months ago. israel did not instigate this war, and has repeatedly offered ceasefire deals. hamas is the one shooting these offers down. also, palestine wont just cease to exist.. im not sure what that part means, can you explain it? i want to understand you, too.

also. i have cousins in the idf. one of them was supposed to come over before last days on sukkot and couldn't make it in the end. over the weekend, october seventh happened. the next time we spoke, it was a phone call right after simchat torah ended. he was on his way to the airport, having been called back to israel to meet his unit in kfar aza and start collecting bodies. i only had a few minutes to tell him i love him and to stay alive on behalf of me and my siblings. the memory is so surreal. we turned on our phones for the first time in days to texts from our israeli family saying they were alive, not to watch the videos, not to look at the pictures. im still kind of stuck there on my couch, holding my siblings in a hug and wondering if someone who hadn't texted yet was dead. then we saw people celebrating the massacre. they haven't really stopped. so we knew we couldnt really count on anyone to protect us, and this was way before israel entered gaza. people were just happy jews were dead. don't know if this is a huge sidetrack, but. this is why i stand with israel. their goal is to keep my family alive. their goal is to keep as many gazans as possible alive. that is not the goal of iran and hamas. this goes further than zionism though, tbh. zionism is pretty simple as a principle 😅

In defense of Admiral Zhao and how he treats Zuko (or he's still a dick and an imperialist, but this is why/how his actions made sense to him).

So the first time we see Zhao chronologically is in this scene, when he watched Ozai burn Zuko with a smirk on his face:

Obviously this doesn't speak highly of Zhao, but the context was that Zuko was refusing to defend his honor by fighting back and thus, under Fire Nation culture, getting "what was coming to him." It's pretty like that Zhao didn't particularly hate Zuko before that.

Then almost three years pass, and Zuko and Iroh show up acting all suspicious at Zhao's base with a damaged ship. Zuko offers an extremely unconvincing story, so naturally Zhao investigates further.

Zhao gives Zuko a chance to come clean and Zuko refuses to, solely out Zuko's self-interest. Zuko is willing to screw over the Fire Nation just to have a slightly better chance at going home. That just confirms all of Zhao's negative opinions about Zuko.

Zhao: My search party is ready. Once I'm out to sea, [Cut to a shot from over Zhao's head to reveal Iroh and Zuko sitting in two chairs in front of him in the middle of the tent.] my guards will escort you back to your ship and [Close-up of Zuko, who angrily looks down.] you'll be free to go.

Zhao is willing to overlook this and let Zuko go.

Zhao is being a dick here, but he's also telling Zuko the truth, the same truth Iroh has refused to tell him. And Zuko challenges him to an Agni Kai over it.

Zuko and Zhao fight, and Zuko clearly wins. Zhao, recognizing his defeat, tells Zuko to burn Zhao.

There's two things we need to understand here. First, Agni Kai's can only end with one participant being burned or killed. Second, by burning Zhao, Zuko would show his adherence to the Fire Nation's norms and culture, show he's "manly enough" to adhere and be a "man of honor" within the code of honor. By refusing to end the duel, Zuko disrespects the very practice of dueling.

Then Zuko turns his back and walks away, Zhao tries to attack Zuko, and Iroh stops Zhao and claims that "Even in exile, my nephew is more honorable than you." The thing to understand here is that the duel was not actually over, at least from Zhao's perspective. That's why he tried to attack Zuko, because Zuko had refused to end it.

Let us fast forward a few episodes. The next time we see Zhao is in "Avatar Roku," where Aang is trying to reach Roku's temple and Zuko is trying to stop him. Zhao is commanding a blockade fleet in their way. This exchange provides important context:

Iroh: [Close-up.] Sailing into Fire Nation waters ... Of all the foolish things you've done in your sixteen years, Prince Zuko, this is the most foolish! Zuko: I have no choice, Uncle. Iroh: [Angrily.] Have you completely forgotten that the Fire Lord banished you? [Fearfully.] What if you're caught? Zuko: [Breaks away from telescope to talk to his uncle.] I'm chasing the Avatar! My father will understand why I am returning home!

By chasing after the Avatar into the Fire Nation, Zuko is violating the terms of his banishment.

Anyways, this happens:

To be clear, what Zhao does here is 100% a dick move. But from Zhao's perspective, Zuko demonstrated his lack of loyalty earlier, and is now also trying to violate the terms of his banishment.

So Zhao chases after Zuko and Aang and doesn't manage to hang onto them since Avatar Roku goes super-saiyan on him.

After that, we get this exchange:

Zhao: [Turns angrily, snapping.] No Prince, no Avatar! Apparently, the only thing I do have is five traitors! Great Fire Sage: [Interjects.] But Commander! Only Shyu helped the Avatar. Zhao: [Close-up.] Save your stories for the Fire Lord. As far as I'm concerned, you are all guilty! [Orders.] Take them to the prison hold!

Again, total dick move. However, it's worth pointing out what Zhao's justification is likely to be: the Fire Sages violated the law by refusing to apprehend and instead helping a banished fugitive, Zuko, who was illegally in the Fire Nation.

The next time Zhao and Zuko interact is when the Blue Spirit breaks Aang out, but nothing particularly interesting happens there.

Finally, in "The Waterbending Master," we get to see Zuko and Zhao's final arc. As Zhao prepares his expedition to the Northern Water Tribe, he shows up and takes Zuko's crew:

Zhao realizes that Zuko is that Blue Spirit and a total traitor, and that just confirms everything Zhao already thought about him. So Zhao tries to have Zuko assassinated by the pirates. It doesn't work.

The next time Zhao encounters Zuko is in the Siege of the North Part II:

Again, Zhao's contempt and hatred for Zuko is driven by Zuko's treasonous behavior.

Of course, the Ocean Spirit shows up, and then this is what happens:

Zhao is consumed by the energy in the shape of a hand and dragged toward the water. Zuko: Take my hand! Zhao considers it for a moment before retracting his hand. The energy plummets into the water, Zhao dragged along with it, and dissipates.

Whatever else you can say about Zhao, he's consistent to the end.

So again, my main point is not that Zhao is a good person. Zhao is a terrible person, an utter jerk, and an imperialist with delusions of grandeur.

However, with regards to Zuko in specific, Zhao's treatment of Zuko is almost always reactive to a degree to Zuko's actions and has a certain logic behind it. Zhao treats Zuko so poorly largely because Zuko keeps confirming Zhao's worst opinions about Zuko.

That doesn't mean that Zhao is right to be a jerk to Zuko, who again is a banished teenager, just that Zhao's actions make logical sense within his cultural context and considering Zuko's actions.

Why does tsukasa seem to not care much about himself?

I had a hard time figuring out what you meant by this because to be honest, I don’t focus on the Yugi twins as much as some of the other characters. I still try to read analyses on them and understand them, and I have been talking a lot abt Tsukasa lately, but I haven’t rly grasped their characterization as quickly as I did with some of the others

However, after giving it some thought I believe you’re referring to scenes like these

If this is what you mean, then the explanation is that Tsukasa simply doesn’t want to exist. He is a yorishiro and existence for them is essentially hell, just look at what Sumire went through being stuck in a time loop for 100 years. It is not a reach to assume Tsukasa went through something similar, seeing as he alludes to being trapped in a place before escaping near the start of the series when we first meet him. He reached out to Hanako for years, but Hanako never answered any of his calls. So Tsukasa wanting to be destroyed isn’t really out of any self-sacrificial nature, it would be a peaceful ending for him. He’d be able to move onto the afterlife, or otherwise accomplish any conniving goals he might have with the entity (idk as I said, not a Yugi twins expert)

He views Hanako as selfish for wanting to hold onto the people he loves at the expense of their wellbeing. Part of Nene’e fate is to die young, it’s sad but that is the natural path her life is meant to follow. She herself even tries to come to terms with this and make peace with it, but Hanako won’t let her. He loves her, so he wants her to live a long and happy life. This is completely understandable, but it is also selfish. It is part of human nature to be selfish, and part of Hanako will always be tied to the human boy he once was. Selfishness isn’t always bad, sometimes it’s necessary. But from’s Tsukasa’s perspective, Hanako is robbing Nene of an escape

Tsukasa makes this a personal issue because Hanako treats him the same way. It would be objectively better and more natural for him to let Tsukasa go, especially if the theories abt him killing Tsukasa to free him from the entity are true. That is what Tsukasa wants, to be free, to no longer be a yorishiro. But Hanako is selfish, and he loves Tsukasa too much to grant him freedom

Now, if you’re talking about Tsukasa’s lack of self-care in regards to Hanako “hating” him, that’s a bit different

Tsukasa seems to conceptualize relationships in a very black and white way. You either love someone, or you hate them. He’s interested mainly in how other people feel and react to things, so he’s constantly asking them how they feel about others. I don’t think he differentiates much between platonic love and romantic, it is simply “love vs. hate” to him. The two are opposites and cannot intersect

The most genuine statement I could possibly make about Tsukasa is that he loves his brother. Both versions of him, no matter how you interpret his current existence. The possessed Tsukasa we know now is the one who grew up with Amane, he spent ten years of his life with him whilst Baby Tsukasa only knew Amane for three. Ofc that was still his brother so time isn’t rly relevant to how much love/attachment Amane still holds for the original version of Tsukasa, but that doesn’t change the fact that the brother he knew for most of his life was the possessed Tsukasa. They shared holidays and birthdays together, lived together, walked to school together every single day. Through and through, they are brothers and it would be impossible for Hanako not to see him that way, even if he claims not to. It must be a complicated situation for him, on one hand he grew up with this Tsukasa but on the other he blames this Tsukasa for the old one’s disappearance

Back to how Tsukasa feels, he loves Amane fully. He does describe them as rivals, so I would say the feelings are complex on his end as well, but overall he loves his brother. He loves his brother so much that he doesn’t care if Amane hates him. And he must, he threw him across the room once when they were kids when Tsukasa was bothering him. He knew something was off when Tsukasa returned, and his attitude towards him likely reflected that throughout the 10 years they spent together. He killed him, he freezes up when he sees him, he consistently sides against him. For a character that views love in black and white terms, that sure looks a lot like hate. He recognizes that Amane is sad without him, but he also understands that Amane hates him. At least, from Tsukasa’s perspective, that’s what it looks like

But Tsukasa’s love for Amane is unconditional, he doesn’t really care if Amane hates or loves him. Baby Tsukasa says he wants Amane to be an astronaut with their parents, somewhere far away from him so Tsukasa can never make him upset. He believes Amane hates him, but he doesn’t care as long as Amane is happy. That’s all he wants, for Amane to be happy. His brother is the most important person to him, as long as Amane is happy he doesn’t care what happens to himself. Until it reaches a breaking point ofc, and Tsukasa realizes that the best situation for everyone would be for him to disappear

I’m pulling a lot of this out of my ass so I apologize if I got any information incorrect! Also just to be clear I don’t mind being asked about the Yugi twins at all, people were asking me a lot about Tsukasa yesterday so I get why the questions keep coming. Just beware that I am a self-proclaimed Not Expert lol. I do plan to look more into them whenever I start that series of character analyses tho so stay tuned for that

Chances of your loved ones being killed

We are talking about the executioner of the blood moon, one whose main task is to eliminate other people.

He is one of the few that I say is a 100% chance.

And I say this because, unlike Talon —who prefers to stay by your side and do the killing later— he has to kill them, and there won't be any more people bothering him when he wants to take his beloved, so it's a win- win for him.

First impressions

The darling in question belonged to an organization that was responsible for being against the blood moon cultists, and especially their demons. She had been specially raised to hate demons, since they had taken her family away from her.

For the beloved it was a couple of every day trying to kill a cultist or a demon; She was known for her aggressiveness and stubbornness, being that, when the darling encountered a cultist, or worse, a demon, they would not stop until he was dead.

The beloved was bloodthirsty, cruel, and cynical when them came into contact with any member of the blood moon. And that's why they sent the executioner to kill them.

However, something bad must have happened, some mistake must have been made, something must have happened…

Because he was never able to fulfill his commission.

Fall in love

Before he was a cultist, he knew them, he knew his beloved as one of the few people who genuinely was there for him in his worst moments.

They was the beloved who always smiled at him, invited him to go for a walk or included him in a group so that he was accompanied.

And when he saw their look of disappointment, he felt as if that human part, that small human part was about to kill itself, was on the verge of mentally breaking down and apologizing to his beloved, for not being able to tell them what he felt, for not being able to tell them the truth, to be able to tell with his words how he felt that life return to his body every time their eyes met, and now… it was too late.

He tried to apologize, he tried to say that he was not going to hurt them, but in response his beloved attacked him. The beloved attacked with anger, with hatred, and mainly, with the desire to see him die.

It hurt him a lot to know that he had lost one of the best people in his life, and that now he was fighting the one he considered his beloved, the love of his life, but he couldn't do it. nothing.

Against everything, he did not attack, he even deigned to defend himself, leaving only his beloved to attack him as many times as he wanted. But his beloved let him live.

He knew then that, even with everything that had happened, his darling was still in love with him, she still longed to kiss and touch that human part of him, and that even with all the numbers against him, them still loved him like the first day they accepted feelings.

Beginning of Yanderism

He lied, he lied to his cult that he had killed that person, but he knew it was a lie, and that there were great consequences when they found out the truth. And he told to his beloved that them would have to change their identity, wishing only that his darling would get away from that life.

But within a few days, several cultists were found dead, some dismembered, others with marks from fights so deadly that their lives were taken away, and only he knew who was the author of those bloody works.

First murder or Yandere act

He himself had to kill cultists who were learning the truth, and he also took care of “some” close friends of his who were never intelligent enough to keep a secret as big as his safety or life in general. It didn't matter how many there were or how well he got along with them; If they knew the whereabouts of his darling, they were already dead.

At the same time he tried to communicate with his beloved, but he always threatened him or outright physically hurt him; Even if there was regret afterwards, however, a part of the beloved believed that it was best for them to stay away from him, since their mind always confused him because of the games she played with their own feelings.

Relationship or kidnapping

His beloved continued killing cultists and demons, but under an entity of unknown name; She wore a mask and dark-tinted clothing, seeking not to generate suspicion about her existence.

However, as always, lies have short legs —like me— and the little secret of the existence of the executioner's beloved was discovered. And an ambush was planned for the beloved. And that's where he is forced to kidnap them.

Even with his darling kicking, screaming and complaining, he still kidnapped his beloved. It was a moment between torturous and happy for him.

Since, let's agree that since he saw his beloved again, he wanted to keep them safe “in his own way”. He already loved his beloved before he became a demon, and he was the only “lighthouse” that illuminated what little humanity he had left. But a lighthouse can't stay lit forever.

Coexistence

Unlike Talon, he is much kinder to her; It's not that he speaks to her with much love or call them “honey” or “heart,” but he is quite friendly with his beloved, and gives them more freedoms than anybody might expect.

He is one of the yanderes with whom it is easiest to get along, since his way of loving, although selfish, also sought to generate a beautiful relationship with his beloved, to generate the same relationship that had come so naturally before… well, these events.

Marriage and family

As for marriage, no, I mean, I don't think that a cult that is fully dedicated to paying homage to the Blood Moon by murdering people would be very interested in marriage.

Now, if by chance certain relatives of the darling are still alive, then it is best to carefully distance themselves from the darling one in question for a simple reason; No one could know they location, no matter who the person is.

If possible, children?

Nah, I don't see any possibility in that.

Bad ending

Several months passed of absolute tranquility for both the darling and Yasuo, being that being away from all danger was… good in a way. However, there comes a point when the beloved just wants to leave; the darling decides to plan an escape, and upon achieving it, darling meets the terrible fate that demons and cultists find out about they existence; Now, knowing that the executioner had decided to lie, they ended up attacking the home that he had forged with so much effort for the two of them.

When Yasuo managed to capture his lover, he thought that he would finally be able to keep his darling safe, however, there was a problem; The demons attacked the home where he was guarding his beloved.

From here there are two possibilities

1:The cultists/demons decide that you must die, and end up taking the life of the executioner's beloved, and he, in response, had to attack.

To no one's surprise, there were many casualties that day, but the “traitor” and the traitor's darling were exterminated. However, now they were together, wherever they souls went, he was going to follow his darling, he was going to pursue her beloved even after his own death.

2- The darling is forced to join the cult of the Blood Moon, seeking to use you as a fellow member. So, even if you claimed that your family would rather publicly execute her than be part of that cult, however, consent was something that was not necessary in a cult that had already had many casualties because of a single person.

In this case, Yasuo will not be able to stop them, and they convince him that he would be the only one who could approach to his darling, and that they could both spend as much time as they wanted together, without anyone from the cult being forced to separate them.

Reasons to be a Yandere

-We are told that he used to be a human, one with a difficult life, if the beloved is unlucky enough to meet him before, then she was doomed to have an almost unhealthy affection for her.

-There is a good chance that his past is very varied; Anything could have happened to him, and it's not until he meets someone to support him through a difficult time that he clings like a limpet.

Extra data:

-Of the entire cult, he is one of the kindest towards his darling in question, however, it was somewhat strange to know that he fell in love with someone.

-He would never forbid his darling to take off his mask; He would allow it at any time, and he would love for his darling to touch his face.

-He sometimes he thinks about his life, and after everything that happened, he only thought about the life he could have had with his darling if he had never joined that cult.

-If his darling fight against him, he doesn't enjoy it, he hates that the love of his life hate him, even if the darling is afraid of him or anything else, he can't support it, and he gives his best to be able to get along with his darling.

Pushpa is a movie that was released during the pandemic and became a massive hit. Even Bollywood stars commented on the movie. The songs were memorable and the song Sooseki got around 100 million views even though the second movie hadn't released yet.

It seems South indian Cinema is getting more appreciated with films like Bhaubali, RRR and KGF Chapter 1/2 and Devara might even gain more attention due to Jr. Ntr's presence. (Which I'm super excited about I loved him ever since I was young, him and Ram charan were one of my favorites so RRR was a pleasant surprise)

I'm just disappointed that Pushpa's story is the one thats getting this attention.

Pushpa has good BGM, the setting is cool and cinematography can be considered good and Allu Arjun is always appreciated but the story is where it lacks.

Can I understand it? Yes, I've been watching TollyWood movies ever since I was 1. I was singing Gabbar Singh songs when I was a toddler. I understand what logic Tollywood tries portraying is it always right? No but its enjoyable and times were different we're evolving we want more complex and meaningful stories now Bahubali and RRR gaining attraction are examples that South Indian movie industry is evolving finally!

So imagine my disappointment when I see Pushpa the next great Tollywood film.

"Pushpa Raj is a self respecting young man who takes pride in his work. He works at a mill, but leaves it when his owner doesn't like his attitude outside of work. Pushpa goes for Red sandal wood cutting in the forest. Pushpa lives in a village with his mother Parvatamma, and is the illegitimate son of a local rich man." That is the story according to imbd.

You'd think the movie gives more context about Pushpa nope. IMBD really summed it all up and thats the problem. Pushpa's character can be summed up in a few words and there's not depth beyond those words in the movie itself.

The thing that makes this film detestable is the main character Pushpa he is not enjoyable whatsoever. It's like one of those Dark Romance ML's but they tried mixing in a few funny liners and tried making him a sunshine character as well but failed?

He's not funny I feel bad for his sidekick Kesava actually no. I like Kesava better than Pushpa Himself. He looks like he has actually meaning and depth he has relatable goals and is actually funny or seems to have some sort of personality. I wholeheartedly ship him and Srivalli's friend actually go Side characters!

Now lets compare 2 films Maari 2 and Pushpa which might seem random but let me explain

Maari in both the first one and the sequel was a gangster however do you know why i like him better than Pushpa? He has redeeming qualities he has morals like he kills bad people but doesn't want to sell drugs because he knows that can make innocent people succumb to horrible diseases like his best friend their situations are very different however Maari is seen as a morally gray character just like Pushpa is portrayed as. Maari also has morals when he kills beeja's brother for attempting to assault Anandhi's sister. He's doing something 'bad' killing a person but he essentially redeems it because of why he does it. He also gives good advice when she talks about no one wanting to marry her because she's ruined maari says she isn't an object to be ruined and its not wrong to wait how long to find a guy that understands that.

He's a troubled guy with not normal values but I can sympathize with him and actually root for him because he's a good person.

A more accurate example KGF Rocky is on a very similar path to Pushpa he only relied on his mother his whole life until she died while in Pushpa his mother and himself suffered humiliation. Pushpa was often beat up Rocky was also beat probably even more. They both started at the streets and slowly climbed up wanting money and power. Pushpa only smuggled and framed and fought. Rocky outright killed but I still like him better than Pushpa do you know why?

Because he has character Rocky's backstory is more compelling wanting to fulfill his dying mother's wishes of not wanting her son to die miserably without money like her even if it meant becoming a bad person? Hell yeah. Also similar to maari he has limits he has certain morals, clear cut morals. in the first KGF movie he outright stops traffic for a mother and her son who wanted to get some food but were unable to because of the traffic and gave her hard advice. That the world isn't gonna stop for you its harsh and not lenient and that we need to MAKE it stop. We have to put in the work and not just hope someone will always come along. This gives us insight into his views further developing his character.

Pushpa's story is he was an outcast because he was an illegitimate son and was unable to have his father's last name? So he makes his name Pushpa Raj. He disrespects his mother at times despite her being the only one there for him. He has too much Pride. He doesn't have much regard for women as we see when he gives his shirt to Jaali's victim he isn't sympathetic to her at all and is kinda indifferent except for looking away as if he's uncomfortable more than regarding her own feelings

And the thing is all of these problems could be fixed if we saw more into his character which we're only given bits and pieces of.

Pushpa isn't close to his mother? Maybe its because he blames her for all the prejudice but still cares for her somewhere in his heart which is seen through the light interactions between the two in the movie. He has too much Pride? well he feels like thats his right because he was denied everything else his father's name, money, and even necklace. He doesn't have regard for women much? Even that can be fixed like in the movie 'temper' where Jr Ntr's character first doesn't care much for other women ends up willing to give his life for them he gets character development. Pushpa could not really see a big deal in Jaali's activities until he's confronted with one of the victims himself and is reminded of the women in his life and starts to detest Jalli which ultimately bursts when Jaali sets his eyes on Srivalli.

Everything I said you can mostly think about happening in the movie but its like a real stretch you have to really put your mind on it to see it happening in the canon of the Pushpa universe its nots showed to us the viewers like in other movies we don't get clear cut shots of these narratives I spoke up being played out. Its what makes these movies lively or entertaining in my opinion because they had depth which is enhanced due to the main character himself.

So see this from my perspective a MAN is able to outsmart the police and insult them, illegally get sandal wood, Act like and arrogant bastard through most of this move, have so much intelligence out of nowhere and still gets a girl?

Reena has more personality than Srivalli I'm actually gonna begin stanning her after this.

And when I say a MAN I mean a MAN because the person Pushpa on my screen is a stranger to me I don't get a clear feel of his character or any connection to him.

I really hope these issues are rectified in the second movie but I have my doubts. Pushpa as a movie feels like a regression for Tollywood and I don't want that for my cinema industry which I know has flaws but I also know that its healing and has really good stories.

Anyways to all Indian movie lovers out hope you're excited for Devara because I sure am. Jr. Ntr in double roles? Its like Adhurs all over again. And one of his roles seems really cute too, I've wanted to see Jr Ntr in action again for a long time.

DEAD FRIEND FOREVER (another long rant lol)

let me take a breath before I start

I had seen a post that said the worst trope in shows is when they take a deeply traumatized character and kill them off for shock value even when they were fighting so hard to get their happy ending they could almost taste it.

It made me think of Non because he has been through absolute hell with almost no one to save him. You can bring up Tee trying to help but like Non said Tee should be doing that for getting him into this situation. Tee doesn’t deserves applause in my opinion for trying to help because even if he didn’t get Non stuck in that business he still bullied him outside of that.

Leading up to my point here being that if they kill off Non in the very last episode I will feel the flames of hell licking at my ankles from so much rage.

I’ve seen absolutely no progress with killing any of Non’s bullies and it pisses me off. I know it didn’t happen right away because they need to build up the story first. But we’re down to episode 11 and no one has been killed off except Por.

Now the one thing that has been enraging me the most in this show is Phee and Jin. I’ve come to hate their characters more than everyone else.

The rest of the group are fucked up to Non but they don’t try to hide what shitty people they are. The disgust, anger, and just hateful behavior for Non whether he is in the room or not has never wavered. However Jin and Phee act like they are so innocent when it comes to being complicit in Non’s suffering.

Jin may have been nice to Non for the short time he knew him but did absolutely nothing to shield him from being harassed. I do wonder if Jin would be as nice as he was if he didn’t have a crush on Non, which brings me to my next point.

Jin so easily turned his back on Non when he saw him and teacher Keng together. Getting so angry that Non didn’t like him back so he posts a clip all over school of Non getting fucked by his teacher. It was such a low ball move and he needs to have his ass beat for it.

Phee obviously never bullied Non so why do I hate him so much? It’s the way he has handled everything starting from finding out about Non & Keng all the way up to current events in the show. I can maybe understand the initial reaction to Non sleeping with Keng (minus telling Non to disappear and die) but at some point how did you not put that pieces together that your boyfriend was groomed by his teacher?

Next point is Phee being absolutely no help at all when it came to getting revenge for Non. I already knew Tan/New was the only one I would be relying on to help Non. Phee really couldn’t keep it in his pants long enough until he eventually slept with Jin. We all knew that was going to happen but it just blows my mind he so easily slept with a guy who ruined Non’s life. I don’t care if he said it was to “get information out of Jin” because it’s was such a bs excuse.

Next on the list is Phee exposing the entire plan to Jin because unfortunately he likes that bastard but moving on. Jin then confesses that he was the one to leak the video clip of Non all over school and Phee istg barely looks angry. The most was him getting up and banging his fist on the wall but other than that I’m pretty sure his anger lasted a good 5 seconds.

This is why I can’t take Phee seriously when he claims to love Non because why aren’t you more enraged finding out Jin was the one who ruined your boyfriend’s life? You should be getting in Jin’s face demanding he get on his knees and apologize but instead you did nothing. In the words of Haymitch Abernathy “You could live 100 lifetimes and never deserve that boy.” because Phee truly does not deserve to love Non at all and I’m glad they broke up.

Jin and Phee make it back to the house being very quick to snitch on Tan to everyone about the plan. The thing that irritates me most about that scene is Jin acting so high and mighty like he’s not in the wrong for what he did and making Tan look like the bad guy here for wanting to get revenge for Non. I wanted to smack him in the face so bad there. Phee and Jin truly deserve each other because they are both insecure useless snitches who have never protected Non the way they should have.

Okay final notes here (I say 50 paragraphs later lol) is when Tan is telling Phee to shoot everyone and he’s hesitating. He then says he just wants to know the truth about what happened to Non. That’s it? Are you gonna interview them one by one and just let them go on their merry way after? Seriously why are you even here Phee if you’re going to be useless dead weight on this mission.

Circling back to my main concern for this show is are they going to have Non go thru all that trauma and just not do anything or worse case scenario being they kill him off. That’s really all I care about at this point because if they make the rest about Jin and Phee I’ll be so annoyed.

I also wonder if they’re gonna reveal White to be hiding something or if he’ll be innocent till the very end because he truly is the only character who has no inclusion or cause to Non’s suffering. So that’ll be interesting to see in the final episode.

What’s your favorite romance anime? And why?

I love world building and dedication, like how passionate the creator is about the work.

So, ones like My Dress-up Darling, where the author did extensive research, are really interesting to me. Plus, if I really love something, it ends up in my physical collection. So, while you probably didn’t want a list, here is a list. I’ll also include why.

The Ancient Magus' Bride: Because it starts a little weird, you have to give this one a few episodes to get there. I like it for the world building, but the development of the characters is the important part. Over time they learn to communicate with each other. They grow individually and collaboratively, and it is really beautiful to watch. Plus, the anime is like really pretty.

After the Rain: You just kinda gotta trust this one. It’s a beautiful story about a high school girl who likes her significantly older boss. However, there are no red flags here. But I can’t say a whole lot without giving things away. Oh, and the ending was worth it.

Cherry Magic: I liked the manga’s art style so much more than the anime, but the story is still the same. The development and deliberate thought is what makes this one special.

Kimi ni Todoke: It’s a classic. I think it speaks for itself.

A Sign of Affection: I like Oushi more than Itsuomi. I’m ok with getting hate for that. However, I like how Itsuomi works to be a part of her world while also having her be a part of his. 

Wotakoi: Nerd adult love is slay.

InuYasha: This was a monster of the week style anime, so it is super long, but it is so nostalgic. I can’t help but love it.

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun: It’s funny. She loves him. He has no idea. Everyone else knows. No one understands why she likes him.

Given: Good music. Good characters. Good animation. Epic romance.

Kase-san and Morning Glories: This is easily my favorite GL. They just feel so authentic together. 

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: The romance feels super one sided, but Kobayashi shows love in the most realistically Japanese way: actions. She takes time to get there, and then once she is there most people wouldn’t notice it unless you understand what love through actions looks like.

Sasaki and Miyano: It’s a slow burn, but what I liked was Sasaki’s patience and Miyano’s communication. 

Hirano to Kagiura: I did like this one more than the previous. I think it was the forced proximity and them both not wanting to ruin what they had. It was a friendship to a romance.

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent:  It gave me the toe kicks.

Doukyuusei: I love this one. I love how opposite they are and yet how perfect they are. I love everything but that stupid teacher.

Sekaiichi Hatsukoi Movie: Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai: I love the main series, but there are so fewer problems with this spin off. 

7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!: I just finished this one. I love it because of her. She is 100% herself, and he finds her fascinating. However, she is pretty sure one day he will kill her, start a world war, and destroy everything.

This event was first held on April 10, 2020. It is a story from 10 years ago, and  shows Koenma feeling uneasy when he witnessed Sensui taking his battles against youkai too serious.

Story: Shinobu Sensui, the former spirit detective, had a reputation for his earnest personality and accuracy in his assignments. However, when Koemma sees his personality, he feels uneasy...

Sensui: Just thinking back on that, it's foolish.

Itsuki: .......

Sensui: The door to the Demon World will open very soon. It's time to settle this...

Sensui: Should humans live or should they die...

Sensui: Although, there is no need for human beings to carelessly do as they please in this world.

Itsuki: Don't worry, Shinobu. The expanse of the hole to the Demon World is going very smoothly.

Sensui: I see.

Thus, an angel sank into darkness and was reborn as the "Dark Angel".

I wish we knew more about Itsuki and Sensui's relationship. I like that Koenma and Itsuki call Sensui by his first name, Shinobu! It is interesting that Jorge knew Sensui and was already working with Koenma back then. Apparently, Botan knew nothing about Sensui. In the anime, she said Yusuke was her first "client". I wonder if she was already working in the Spirit World at that time. Maybe, she was just an intern :P

hello it is the tangled fan back for more! I was thinking about how underrated cass and eugene's friendship is.

I think they understand each other more than they like to admit which is why they tend to butt heads. they both need to prove themselves at the castle and are very sure of themselves. I think eugene is annoying on purpose but he doesn't realize how much it actually hurts cass that he rose in importance so much compared to her stuck where she is. and cass doesn't understand how eugene has been living on the streets and this is really important for him. so they have to learn from each other, have to understand where the other person is coming from. and when things get dangerous, they do respect each other's strength and quick thinking and can work together.

I think part of why cass doesn't like eugene is because she was planning on catching flynn rider to prove to her dad that she's strong enough to fight. who better to catch than the man her dad hates the most, right? then his crimes get absolved and he's just hanging out in the castle and she resents him for taking her chance to prove herself. he got what she has been looking for her whole life. lots of potential character development with learning to let go of the past.

when cass betrays them there should've been some focus on how eugene is hurt because cass throws their progress back in his face. he wants to trust her but he just can't, he didn't grow up trusting people easily. he has to make an effort to forgive her, especially after seeing rapunzel so distraught and being mad on her behalf.

I think they shouldn't be 100% buddy-buddy like there should still be some rivalry and old grudges but hey that's life! also they're both dating rapunzel so they have to deal with each other or else the polycule falls apart

like at first it makes soooo much sense that cass hates eugene bc not only is he annoying and will never go away. he also is there and sort of in charge of her (well. not necessarily "in charge" but hes the princess's boyfriend so he ends up getting some clout) just because he stumbled on what the entire kingdom had been looking for for 18 years, meanwhile she had been trying her whole life just to be taken seriously so obviously shes gonna be pissed off when he can come in and just do whatever he wants. not to mention he joined the guard just because he had nothing else to do even though cass had been trying to for years !!! and i looooooove your idea about her plan to catch flynn rider bc YES she would want that !!!!!!!!! she wants to do something to make her dad pay attention to her so catching the criminal is the best way to go. but then said criminal gets all his crimes pardoned and is also making her life a living hell just by existing. she should get to kill him

for eugene... i think he has less of a reason to dislike her other than that she was probably mean to him first and it just kinda kept spiraling (so funny. this is ideal) but also to him i feel like cass kinda represented everyone else in the kingdom in a way? like just because he brought rapunzel home hes not just suddenly Everyones Favorite Person so cass constantly being like "kys and leave my house" is sort of. voicing what everyone else is thinking.

and THEN theres the fact that their relationship goes from "bickering because they hate each other -> bickering like siblings -> uh oh now shes trying to kill them!" i just. ough. they liked each other and they were FRIENDS!! so it had to have been hard for him to see. all that. i dont think cass really thought about him at all bc she was focused on rapunzel BUT for eugene.... like you said he doesnt trust easily! so putting his trust in someone and having it broken HURTS. however. i honestly think that he would forgive her pretty easily afterwards. he loves giving people second chances given everything that happened to him so he would not have a problem forgiving her

actually side tangent there. sometimes i see people saying that its out of character for eugene to forgive cass in the finale but um. no. look at every single person hes friends with. i dont think hes drawing the line at cass's mommy issues. "but she tried to kill rapunzel!" ok?? so did varian but he and eugene still made an amber bazooka together after it happened. after she died saving the world i think he'd be fine with her

anyways all that to say. i agree! i love their friendship! i love them butting heads over the stupidest shit ever and i love both of them going out of their way to insult each other. sometimes i think about cass calling him "fitzherbjerk" and eugene seeing a dead snake fall out of the sky and going "friend of yours?" and. yeah. i just love them :')

A/N: I was so tempted to give JT’s son a name but I resisted. I really thought they gave him a name, but according to the wiki they did not. I’m not 100% happy with this, but this was meant to be a quick writing warm-up. However it became a lot longer than I intended, but here it is.

You sat with Malcolm on his couch while he shivered, a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. You had just finished a case at his old high school. However, now that you’ve visited it, you realized it felt more like an unpleasant mixture of a private college and a penitentiary than a high school. You understand one of the many reasons why Malcolm hated it.

JT was distracting you from Malcolm by sending you tons of baby pictures, all of which were adorable. Malcolm has been shivering ever since he set off the fire suppression system in the closed vault even though he had already changed clothes and gotten under a blanket. You were trying to ignore him, which was always difficult, but you were really irritated with him. He leaned over your shoulder to look at the pictures of JT’s son. 

“Cute kid,” he said softly. 

“Mhm,” you dismissed.

Malcolm paused for a second, leaning back and looking at you, staring at your phone. “Are you mad at me?”

You sighed, putting down your phone and looking up at him. “Of course not, why would I be mad?” you said sarcastically, but with no real bite. He gave you a look before you sighed again, fully turning your body to look at him. “Do you understand what the words ‘self-preservation’ mean?”

“Yeah, it’s a property of jams and jellies.” He quipped, but in such a way that made him sound like he wasn’t joking around.

You rolled your eyes at him. “You almost died, Malcolm. Again.”

“I was trying to save myself, and Delany!”

“I understand that, and I also understand that you were under a lot of psychological stress, but-”

“I’m always under a lot of psychological stress. It’s one of the most predominant things about me,” he cut you off.

You rolled your eyes again, sighing. He could be so difficult when he wanted to be. “But, if you used your head for a moment, you probably could’ve found a fail-safe that would’ve opened the door without killing you. There was at least a 50 percent chance what you tried wouldn’t have worked! No one would’ve built a death trap like that without putting in a fail-safe, but nooo, instead you set a fire in an airtight vault!”

“Ok but-”

“No ‘but’, Malcolm. Mostly because I bet it’ll be something along the lines of ‘Well I didn’t die, Delany is recovering, and we caught Louisa, so everything is well and no harm done’. And there very much is harm done; you can’t even stop shivering.”

“But I’ll live.”

“Yes, you will. But what about next time? Or the next? What if next time it’s not something that can be checked off so quickly, even though inhaling fire retardant is super dangerous for your lungs? What if it’s falling out a window, again? Or getting stabbed, again? I just… I care a lot about you, Malcolm, and I hate seeing you get hurt.”

“I know, and I’m sorry. I’ll try to find another alternative next time, I promise.”

You sigh, smiling sadly at him, and getting up you walk past him to the kitchen, patting his shoulder. “You know that blanket isn’t going to do anything to warm you up, right? Do you want some tea or soup?”

“Tea, please,” he says, turning to you. You grab what you need for tea, already knowing where everything is with the amount of time you spend in his loft. You look up briefly to see him frowning at you like he’s thinking really hard about something.

“What is it?” you ask, putting the kettle on the stove and turning back to him.

He takes a breath and looks like he’s about to say something before stopping. He starts again a few seconds later, meeting your eyes. “You know I care a lot about you too, right? I’m not trying to worry you or upset you, I would never do that intentionally.”

“I know.”

“I just want you to know that I am going to try harder, if not for myself, than for you. Because I care a lot about you, and I hate knowing that I keep upsetting you. The only thing I ever want to make you feel is happiness.”

You smiled softly, melting at his words. You quickly regained your composure but continued smiling. You cleared your throat. “What kind of tea would you like?”

I started reading your fics on ao3 and my goodness they are such a treat😍💕 dark and nasty fanfics just hit different('capture kill' and 'through the briar' have me in a chokehold omg😖😮‍💨)

I also feel super happy to find people that feel exactly like I do about Micah from rdr2. Like he is the worst plz shoot him, but he is also just a fascinating character. I hate him, but I also think he's neat( and low-key kinda of funny) haha but I never say it out loud out of fear of getting absolutely blasted by the fandom🙃💀I mean looking at the fact that a lot of rdr2 fix-it fics, fix it by banishing Micah to shadow realm at the first possible moment and everybody making full blown essays of why he's the worst character of all time, is enough for me to keep my mouth shut lol 😭 So its really nice to see that there are people that appreciate his character and Peter Blomquist's fantastic work portraying Micah Bell.

And oh my god, anon, you fucking get me. Micah is one of my favorite characters - and the only character I truly loathe but still adore because he's just so damn well-written. He makes me uneasy in the game, to the point I visibly cringe, he is a total piece of shit I just want to punch - but he is such a good character. One of the best villains to me. And exactly, a giant part of that is Peter Blomquist's wonderful voice acting. That man is a fucking magician because you can identify Micah from his breaths alone. He did one hell of a job on that blond bastard and I really admire him for it.

To be entirely honest, I had the same worries as you when I posted 'through the briar'. You have a lot of people on here who send you hate for writing noncon AND there are a few others who hate Micah with every fibre of their being (which is totally understandable, but please don't send hate haha) - I was really nervous to draw the ire of BOTH of these parties. I was fully prepared to get a few nasty comments and otherwise silence on that fic - and I am STILL floored at the sheer amount of positive feedback I've gotten. You don't know how happy every single comment I've gotten has made and still makes me. 'through the briar' was two months of work and a lot of headaches for me and for it to scratch an itch for so many people has been one of the highlights of my little 'career' as a fic writer. Genuinely, thank you so much for your love!!

Regarding sequels, I have written about some scenarios after 'through the briar' happens - here and here. I want to write out the immediate aftermath and that little escape scenario as little vignettes on here, it's on my list!! I am basically waiting for my muse to fully strike - right now, I'm still pre-occupied with getting through One Piece, so that might take a while 🙈 As for capture kill - I am currently working on a little Bill pwp - just a little thing, some years into the future with him - that should be done by tomorrow! Other than that, I have some thirsts/scenarios here, here and here. He tries to kill himself after Shen Qingqiu dies for him again. He would do absolutely ANYTHING for Shen Qingqiu! He's increadibly jealous of everyone Shen Qingqiu gives attention to, including stairsweeps he smiles at. Luo Binghe has sooo much wrong with him and it makes him so lovable. He's so incredibly traumatized, driven by love and desperation for a majority of the story. He loves Shen Qingqiu so much and can't bear to live without him.

After everything? He lets Shen Qingqiu go, wanting him to be happy even if it means sqq won't stay with him. But sqq wanted to stay together! He gets his man! There is in world porn written about them, they have weird kinky sex inspired by the porn, they get married! Luo Binghe cries regularly for sqq, so sqq can dote on him despite his thin face. Luo Binghe is shameless and adores sqq. Lbh got so nervous that he fell flat on his face when proposing! Lbh loves sqq so much and wants him to be happy more than anything else!
