You’re very strange. Sid isn’t a poc, her voice actress is a white woman, and Saw has been portrayed as a negative character before TBB came out, yet y’all sit on this app and use TBB as a scapegoat for deeply rooted racism within Disney that’s been there for 50+ years. If you don’t like TBB bc of all the reasons you say, stop watching Disney shows as a whole. Mind you, one of the main characters of the show you fav so much (Mandalorian) had a GENUINE racist woman on there for two seasons, or let’s speak on Ahsoka which has a transphobic actress playing her. Let’s also remember how John Boyega and Moses Ingram were treated as well. TBB has its own problems, but it’s funny how y’all ignore real world racism with real people.
are you. fucking serious.
first of all, sid does count as a “poc” (the term poc barely exists outside of america and white dominated countries, but what i’m saying is that sid is not the equivalent to a white woman). no alien is white. just because someone’s actor is white doesn’t mean the character, especially since it’s an alien, is white. (not to mention that sid’s characterization is an antisemetic stereotype). hell, pedro pascal considers himself a white latino and din djarin is still a poc character. and yeah saw has been portrayed in a negative view but that’s because everyone else is seen as an angel and all pure and morally correct, while making saw a bad guy for doing things to the extreme, which is absolutely necessary when it’s for the greater good for the rebellion. just because i don’t like tbb doesn’t mean suddenly i can’t enjoy other shows. you sound so fucking stupid right now.
and hey, using the mandalorian against me isn’t gonna work 💀💀 i’ve made my fair share about how racist the show is as well, bringing up bo-katan and her racism (and extremism, but she gets to be celebrated and adored for it, while saw gerrera just gets more racism for it) and how the show uses and discards polynesian culture, which is what mandalorians are based on, to the directors liking. i’ve spoken up a MILLION times about the problems in a million different shows, even my favorites, because just bc i like something doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be criticized when something about it may be harmful to real life audiences getting represented (or not represented) that way.
i don’t know anything about ahsoka or her actress so i can’t speak on that, but if you look through my ahsoka posts, i haven’t been exactly praising the show either 💀 i’ve been giving it criticism as well, especially for it’s visuals and it’s choice in actors that were hired.
i don’t “ignore” real world racism, i obviously fucking care about it, since it affects me and so many other people in the world, but this is a star wars blog. i talk about star wars and it’s media and criticize it when i see something wrong with it and i state my opinions. fiction reflects reality, and vice versa, so even if the problems in this fictional show, tbb, aren’t “technically” real, it can still harm real people who watch that and see themselves represented in a bad way or in an inappropriate manner. being represented on screen is something so special and seeing all the racism that goes on in that show is truly fucking awful.
this is why i hate fucking talking about this show. because y’all bad batch supporters are SO quick to defend your show, y’all come into my inbox and talk shit. no one said you can’t enjoy some aspects. but you need to know how this show can harm people irl with the things that happen in it, reflecting upon reality.

Rumor: Is Yahya Abdul-Mateen Leading Damon Lindelof’s New Star Wars Movie?
Tumblr media
One of the recent biggest announcements from the world of Star Wars was that Damon Lindelof is working on a new movie. A movie set after the events of the Skywalker Saga. This would make Lindelof’s movie the first sequel, to the timeline of Star Wars content we have out now. Every single Star Wars show on TV is a prequel, given it takes place before the events of the sequel trilogy. Andor, The Mandalorian, and The Bad Batch— are all prequels. So Lindelof’s movie is kind of a big deal for that reason alone. But now there’s a new rumour about how Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in Star Wars could be a thing. If so, it’s another reason to look forward to Lindelof’s movie. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II In Star Wars Would Be Amazing The rumour or speculation comes from an episode of The Hot Mic on YouTube and its podcast feed. Hosted by film journalist and critic John Rocha and Jeff Sneider, the show has had many exclusive scoops in the past and news not covered anywhere else. As part of this, months ago, Sneider did tease that the Damon Lindelof movie would have potentially two leads, but one would be a Black male actor. Sneider also mentioned that the actor in question is someone who’s been in multiple film and TV projects, but has never led a movie of his own. When speaking in connection to Lindelof, and his recent appearance in the HBO Watchman series, Yahya Abdul Mateen II in Star Wars was a natural conclusion. But on a more recent episode, Sneider seemingly confirmed that that’s who he was referencing before. And that according to his sources, Mateen II comes attached to the project with Lindelof. No Official Announcement Made On Lindelof’s Star Wars Movie As of right now, there have been no official announcements made on Lindelof’s movie or its plans. We know it’s a sequel to the current Star Wars canon, taking place after the events of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. So it will be the first Star Wars movie that takes the story forward, instead of telling stories set in the past. And given that, it’s interesting to see who else might show up and maybe join Yahya Abdul Mateen II in Star Wars. We do know that Daisy Ridley, who played Rey in the sequel trilogy did mention that she is open to returning as the character in Lindelof’s movie. The bigger question may be if the other co-leads of the sequel trilogy, John Boyega’s Finn or Oscar Isaac’s Poe, will return as well. Given how vocal Boyega has been about the racist treatment he’s suffered during his involvement in the franchise, it seems unlikely. Especially seeing how Boyega mentioned that he received little to no support during it all from LucasFilm or Disney. Star Wars Fans’ History Of Racist Treatment Of Its Stars And speaking of it, even Yahya Abdul Mateen II in Star Wars must be aware of these issues Boyega faced. Not just Boyega, but even Kelly Marie Tran was subject to a lot of online abuse by a minority of toxic and racist Star Wars fans. More recently, even Moses Ingram’s portrayal of the Third Sister, Reva in the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series suffered similar racist abuse.  So I can’t help but wonder how much of Lindelof’s story will factor these issues within the Star Wars universe itself. And that Yahya Abdul Mateen II in Star Wars may actually be intentional, almost as if in defiance of those trolls and toxic fans. For me, this rumour of Mateen’s casting actually makes me more excited for Damon Linelof’s new movie. Are you excited about Yahya Abdul Mateen II potentially being in a new Star Wars movie? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Read the full article

OK ship talk and memes aside - I want to have a very serious talk with the Stranger Things fandom and I want to do it right fucking now. Under the cut for serious subject matter, and I don’t want to upset anyone by talking about it but it’s something that needs to be said.
Chrissy is played by actress Grace Van Dien.
Grace Van Dien is Casper Van Dien’s daughter. The younger generation on here may not know who that is, but he’s also an actor. A few years ago, it came out that Casper’s son, also named Casper, had attempted suicide. They didn’t know if he would make it, I couldn’t find any follow ups about it online... frankly... it’s none of our fucking business.
No one better confront Grace about that. She’s active on socials, but just. Don’t even. I don’t even want to post this for fear she’ll see it and be upset, but this is something that needs to be said.
Grace, if you see this. I’m so sorry. For what your family has been through, and know that I’m not trying to spread this around as gossip or an invasion of privacy.
Recently, Grace has been she’s been getting a lot of hate and abuse from so called Stranger Things fans - because she engages with folks on social media and supports/encourages their shipping her character with that of Eddie Munson - played by Joseph Quinn.
Despite the fact that Joe, The Duffers, and the Netflix social accounts all seem to endorse the ship as well - wouldn’t you know it - the woman is the one who people are saying is cringey. She’s the one they’re directing their hate towards.
I’ve not seen these messages. I haven’t gone looking in her replies on socials, because they’re just so stupid and I know they’d make me angry.
Grace has come out and said that she’s fine, living her best life. She thinks that the haters are cringe and funny. She feels safe and loved irl and online.
...but I know how toxic internet hate can be. What those hate comments usually say. I don’t know what Grace’s have said, or may said, but let me tell you what they sure as shit better NOT say.
As you can see by my url, I’m also a Star Wars fan. Moses Ingram, an actress on the Kenobi streaming show, was barraged by racist and sexist attacks recently. She got death threats, and worse. She was told to kill herself. She lost count of how many times.
Obviously, there’s a difference there. In both instances because you don’t like a fictional character a woman plays, but there’s the factor of one being a Black woman and her hate coming from racist dickwads than “shippers” - but stay with me.
It got so bad that the Star Wars twitter account had to shut it down. Ewan McGregor came out and condemned it. Said anyone who did that wasn’t a Star Wars fan in his eyes. Anson Mount, a Star Trek actor, came out and said that he had her back.
I haven’t seen anyone do that for Grace. It’s mostly just fans. Joe Quinn has an Instagram, but his friends run it for him. He’s the actor that Grace shared the majority of her scenes with, I don’t know how well she got to know other costars. Remember, they filmed under COVID protocols - so they probably didn’t get to hang out much on/off set.
So all the other cast members who are on social media? They probably don’t know Grace that well. She probably wouldn’t want them to feel like they had to come out and condemn it, she probably doesn’t want them to know.
They have their own weirdos they’re dealing with, people who have been sexualizing them since they’ve been minors.
So all that to say - this is something that’s been going on, but that only small subsection of the fandom know about/have been talking about/have been doing anything about.
I just want to say, as someone who myself deals with depression and has considered/attempted suicide...
If you sent Grace any such messages? Fuck. You. If the hate continues, and she gets that kind of comment? ...She may find the hater tears funny, but that kind of shit is most certainly not funny.
This is an actress, who was just doing her fucking job. It’s probably the most exposure she’s ever had in her career, it’s one of Netflix’s most popular shows. She is fucking allowed to be excited about that, and glad that people are responding so well to her character and her performance.
For anyone. ANYONE. To ruin that for her... you’re a dick. For anyone who makes any sort of heinous comments about her safety. Whether or not you about the trauma she’s experienced with her brother?
You’re a terrible human being. You’re scum, and I pity you for the fact your life is so miserable that you need to try and make someone else miserable as well.
Over fictional characters.
Go outside. Touch grass. Find yourself a therapist, because you clearly are need of some help. There’s no shame in needing help, there’s no shame in therapy... I go! There is however - great shame in the shit that y’all have been doing.
One of my favorite movie quotes is by Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black. “ A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.”
I find the same sentiment applies not just to intelligence, but also to kindness.
So instead of being heinous, maybe we just try to put some warmth into the world, ‘mmkay?
If you don’t like a thing, ignore it. Blacklist it, block it, unfollow it. Don’t expose yourself to it.
Behave and respond like a person should.

Checking her blaster she hears the read playing through her HUD. The mandalorian helmet was covered in the marks of Clan Rancor. A small droid hovered behind her head as she sheathed the vibrablade at her hip. "Kwynn we are registering a new hit over the Holonet, it's a former Jei" the words drew her attention.
Obi-wan Part 1 opens with the attack on the Jedi Temple. We see a jedi bravely defining a group of kids before following to blade fire. Next shifting ten years later to Tatooine the Inquisitor Third Sister, and another arrive in a rather jagged looking ship. They immediately move into a small cantina and smoke out a an armed Jedi before nearly taking him. Riva aka Third Sister shows her ferocity and uses her saber to burn the man's shoulder before the Inquisitor knocks her aside. THe man gets away without much trouble and we switch back over to Ben. He's working at what appears to be a butcher location. All of those participating are grizzled and outright abused by the foreman. The gonk keeping time and pay is pretty cute. We see Ben swiftly head back to what I believe is Mos Eisely. He gets an ride out to a small jawa to get a parts stolen from him. THe Jawa appears pretty damn enthusiastic and offers a bit new savage and this is where Kenobi learns of our runaway Jedi. Ben heads home and finds himself experience night terrors featuring his fall from grace. The death of his master and the fall to the darkside by Anakin. Ben truly is on his last legs. We see him venturing away from his hideout to keep an eye on a young Luke and Uncle Owen. Seeing little Luke on the top of the house pretending to be a podracer like his father was...a bit of light in a place of sorrow. The early Empire was just so damn rough to so many. Nari, the Jedi tries to get ahold of Ben and confronts him on the way home from his watch of the Lars homestead. Nari questions his need to hide and Ben informs him the time of the order is now quite over. Switching to Alderaan we see the beauty of the lost planet. Yeah this is definitely a world that was something I've wanted to see outside of the Old Republic Games for a while. Little Leia and her droid are pretty adorable and so was the trick she played on her mom. It's cool to see that the Skywalker love of spacecraft. Seeing her mother try hard to teacher her and Leia just con her is pretty cute in so many ways. Back to the grind as wee see Obiwan still working whatever he is doing. The long ride home on the back of a massive speeder truck. Owen confronts Ben about watching Luke and our lovely band of darksiders pop back up. Reva cuts off a hand which seems apt for her. I want to say here that the actor playing Reva, Moses Ingram, really was picked well for the part. She's just so fucking dark. The two Inquistors leave, and Own basically tells Ben he did it for Luke and not his sorry ass. Meanwhile back on Alderaan we get a great example of a planet with modern almost Elvish styled architecture as well as how plants are actively part of their city building. It's funny to see the sperm shaped helmets worn by the guards. I guess we know that Alderaanian surplus became part of the Rebellion. Plus watching Leia tear down her terrible cousin and then keep her ground was good. It shows the little girl has solid morals which will be needed later in her life. THe little girl runs off to the woods to have some fun and there we see our resident creep. The enemy takes the little girl, and almost immediately she's bagged and our episode nearly ends. Switching back to Ben we see he's receiving a call (this is obviously Bail calling him). Ben gets his morals tested and yup he decides to toss out excuses. As the ship with an imprisoned Leia zips away from her home, we see Ben once again on his sad life. Nari has been caught and hung the next day. What is he doing? Why is he letting all of this injustice happen? Because he's fucking afraid. Bail comes all the way to push him and damn. This is a confrontation that Ben needs. He needs to be pushed to be a Knight once again. And I get wy this story is being written and set up only as a miniseries. LOla tries to save Leia and the villain kills the little Droid. Man, this piece of shit isn't really smart. Wait til he's got a saber burning through his chest. Watching Ben dig out his light saber and Luke's really feels nostalgic. Yup, this is definitely a good move on Reva's end. IT's also nice that the woman has no hint of Leia's own force sensitive ability.
Hottakes:
Reva is peak inquisitor, love her as Third Sister.
Ewan is really selling the sad old man Ben here.
Owen staring down a woman who literally cut of another woman's hand was ballsy.
Leia is channeling Lyanna Mormon and I am here for it!
