Also here’s a tiny bean Zeon (or, 🅱️eon) I doodled while trying to lift my spirits earlier this week. Sometimes it’s really cathartic to just grab your cheapest art supplies, not fret about making something ‘perfect’, and just doodle!

An attempt at redesigning a super ancient dragon ‘sona for myself! Was basing the colors off of Gogglebeast’s arm markings, which led to the hilarious realization that this neon monstrosity is actually probably their ‘fursona’. That would explain the illusionmaster aesthetic and null-halos, and also apparently once they realized there was nothing stopping them from giving their sona (and themselves) neon middle finger markings, well, they just went for it.

Basically this is all you need to know about Gogglebeast proper. She will fight the SUN. And they don’t even fight to win, they just fight to fight; don’t forget friends, it’s not the destination, but the journey!!

Time to upload some arts! I finally figured out how to make my traditiona sketch page/comps look nice, so be expecting more of them >D

I’ve always loved the behemoth design from the FF series, and got to thinking (as one does) that if gogglebeast were in that universe she’d probably be some kind of weird leucistic behemoth... thing. Needed something to doodle for warmups, so here we are!

I finally figured out what to do with her arm markings after all these years; my beautiful monsterchild, I’m so proud. (some aspects of her design are actually fairly malleable; being part illusionbeast has its perks! so apparently those markings run a continuum from “fairly normal stripeys” to “wow those sure are eye markings huh”, totally dependent on her mood and aesthetic that day; I’d say we’re at about 75% right now.)

Was feeling a little mehhhh the other night (I blame sad episodes of Soul Eater giving me Too Many Feels 8|) so decided to doodle a bit before bed; so here! Have a vaguely disconsolate Gogglebeast with some poorly drawn steam. XD;

It was also an excuse to fiddle with brushes and general settings in SAI; it really is such a fun program to smush around in! <3

Quick headcanon/small factoid time! So for quite some time I've known in my head that Gogglebeast is a hybrid between layhr/something else; but what I haven't shared is what that other half is - illusionmaster/beast of illusions. (I need to do an infodump on them at some point, but for those who aren't familiar they're a more magic-based species that, you guessed it, is known for the illusions they cast upon themselves (primarily) and surroundings (secondarily). They're also kind of derpy looking.) ANYWAY, I've decided that this makes the most sense as to why Gogglebeast is able, to a certain degree, to alter parameters of her form (number of eyes, tusks, spines, etc), as well as a small amount of surroundings-based illusioning that is VERY infrequent.

This doodle wound up being too far over into the illusionmaster side of things (I don't... think she'd ever appear like this), but I still think it turned out pretty neat! >D
