How do you come up with fairy names in OotP and the Riddleverse?
Hello, thank you for the ask. I apologize for the delay; I took a Tumblr and FOP hiatus for a while.
A lot of fairy names (like Ambrosine, Solara, Idona, and Sindri) came from whimsical name lists. Some names like Florensa I created myself to fit the same vibe that Juandissimo's name has. Over the years I divided naming themes into different cloudland regions.
Cloudlands at a Glance has sample names by region
I don't put a ton of thought into the names and typically pick whatever sounds right within the first 3 minutes of thought. Here are the thoughts behind some Origin of the Pixies and related 'fic names for anyone interested:
Fergus - Named after a stuffed triceratops owned by a sibling, I thought it was cute and it had the Scottish vibes I was aiming for in the very early stages of my worldbuilding. His middle name is Alexander
Whimsifinado - H.P.'s last name, a combination of the words whimsical and aficionado
Julius and Venus - These names for Anti-Cosmo and Anti-Wanda are the canon middle names of their fairy counterparts
Nebula - Poof's and Foop's middle name is space-themed like Cosmo and Venus and is also a nod to Crash Nebula
Ennet - Sanderson's first name, I just made it up because I liked the vibe of Emmet but the 'M' sound didn't feel very Pixie to me. I swapped them for 'N's and I love it
Longwood - Named after a teacher I had with 'wood' at the end of their surname; I just loved the way it sounded. I also love this name for Sanderson's rival pixie because it implies he's taller (which he is) and I feel like it would tick Sanderson off a lot
Hiccup - Foop's alt personality, obviously named after the fact that he hiccups a lot when he cackles. I've seen a lot of fantastic names for him in fandom [and cool portrayals], but I'm quite happy with the one I picked
Kalysta - Named after an old friend [spelled Calista]. There's no reason why this name was picked for this character specifically, apart from the fact that I always liked the name and wanted to use it. The OG spelling is really pretty, but I felt weird using a friend's name for an antagonist so I changed the spelling
Anti-Marigold - I felt this would be easier to read in story when she appeared opposite Goldie [compared to the name Anti-Goldie] and it also makes a nice parallel for Poof and Foop, as Foop also has a unique name. I don't think the name Kelsia came from anywhere specific, it just fit her
Dusty - This was Poof's concept name [iirc from the same period when Poof was going to be released in Season 2], so it's what I named the next Cosmo x Wanda child. I adore the name Dusty and I'm kind of sad that name didn't make it to the finals, but it's cute. Fairies turn to dust when they die, Anti-Fairies turn to smoke, so his counterpart is named Smoky
King Northiae / Prince Eastkal / Queen Shoulath - They're all named after cardinal directions
Anti-Bryndin - I genuinely have no idea where his name came from, I think it was the first thing to pop into my head when I was trying to name him and I knew immediately that it fit him. I wanted to have a name that sounded mysterious and unusual and ended up with this
Emery - This name first appeared in Reedfilter Rules as the name of H.P.'s daughter; this was picked because she was a pixie kid and it fit the masculine vibes I was going for. I later reused the name for H.P.'s sister in the Origin of the Pixies universe
Those are the main names that come to mind. What it really comes down to though is "Looking up whimsical names" and "Random."

2024 Dolly Year in Review
Things I did in dolly land this year: - Joined Memoa and some doll discords - Tried out shortform video (I don't really like making it) - Photographed every doll in my collection - Tried out a new printing service in Vistaprint; I'm very pleased with their note cards and post cards - Designed and mailed "dolliday" cards - Did piercings for both MH and RH - Commissioned hair dyes for Saffron, Gilly, Ophelia, and jr Jade - Did some small repainting: added freckles, redid lips, detailed shoes - Worked on storage organization and optimization - Finished Lagoona's bacta tank - Participated in Funguary & Mermay - Matched dolls to books I read
Dolls Acquired: 21 1-4 from Target: SH Berrie; Tweens Haribo & Cora; CR Cleo 5-10 from Ebay: GOML Leyla, Spring Pearl, & Minouk; OMG Ace; G3 Venus & Monster Fest Frankie 11-13 from IG/Discord: Jr Poppy; Creepro Ghoulia; Tweens Jenny 14-15 from Marketplace/Thrift: Mermaze Morra; Bratz Jade 16-21 were gifts: Wednesday; SH Nicole; MH Skelita; RH Sunny & Luna; Doll Leaves Ida March February of this year, I resolved to buy dolls only from the secondary market, to reduce impulse spending as well as cut down on the amount of waste and bad labor practices I was supporting by buying new. Very proud that I stuck to that -- the only doll I bought new from a store after March was Core Refresh Cleo.
Dolls sold/gifted I don't keep as good of track of this but I will in 2025!

It was fantastic
I’ve never been in this venue before
This is how much of her I could see for most of the performance
Thankfully she came out to play chair and keyboard
And then guitar
She was funny and lovely and skilled and beautiful, and I am so grateful I had the chance to see her live
Please be ignoring my hair, I had clipped it up for the mile long walk down to my parking garage in Longwood (yes, I did remember to bring my cane)
This is my I Scored Free Tickets To Regina Spektor face
It’s also proof to myself that the $2 gloss I got does in fact look amazing over the liner I had in my bag

NYC Kicks Off The 2022 Latin American Art Triennial
New York Latin American Art Triennial 2022
"Abya Yala: Structural Origins”
NEW YORK (September 2022) – This Labor Day weekend hundreds of art-lovers and visitors descended on Governors Island's Colonels Row Gallery for the official launch and first exhibit of this year’s "New York Latin American Art Triennial 2022"
The organizers and curatorial committee of the New York Latin American Art Triennial announced the launch of its 2022 edition, celebrating the incredible range of works presented by national and international artists from Latin American background coming together under the theme and title "Abya Yala: Structural Origins”.
NYLAAT 2022 examines the various processes and forms of creation inspired by traditional methodologies, materials and concepts which were implemented during the different stages of cultural and intellectual growth in the American continent. This project explores the inevitable repercussion that past generations had on the aesthetic, cultural or social values present in contemporary art in Latin America today. This project also refers to the evolutionary processes in the arts which have influenced the different transformations that Latin American art has undergone.
Governors Island 405-B Colonels Row Gallery
September 3rd to November 16th, 2022
ARTISTS: Alexander Wtges, Carmen Vicente Jiménez, Consejo Ancestral Willka Yaku, Geraldo Zamproni, Juan Si González, Graciela Cassel, Jose Guedes, Julia Magdalena Caporal Gaytán, Miguel Ramírez, Sebastian Mahaluf.
NYLAAT 2022 Schedule of Events
In the exhibitions that make up this edition of the 2022 New York Latin American Art Triennial (NYLAAT) we also try to establish the link between contemporary art in the continent and the premeditated use of materials, elements and forms of autochthonous expression of the first inhabitants of this region from the mats, baskets, goldsmith, pottery, textiles, altars, rituals, paintings closely related to tapestry, sculptures in clay, stone, and metal. From September 3rd, 2022 to January 28th 2023, NYLAAT 2022 will bring together more than 200 artists exhibiting their works in seven (8) venues through New York City, featuring exhibitions, performances, video/short films screenings, outdoor installations, interactive workshops, panel discussions, and more, all free to the public. Under the umbrella of the Bronx Hispanic Festival the five months event will feature free exhibitions and a full calendar of programs at BronxArtsSpace, Boricua College (Bronx Campus), Governors Island at 405-B Colonels Row, Lehman College Art Gallery, Longwood Art Gallery at Hostos Community College, Pace University Art Gallery, Queens College Art Gallery, Teatro Latea at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center. The New York Latin American Art Triennial is dedicated to organizing exhibitions and cultural programming through New York City to promote our Latin American culture. These exhibitions are intended to provide diverse educational programs that allow a place to engage with contemporary art expressions and investigate a deeper understanding of its role in society. We believe in the fundamental role of education and advocacy through art and in the preservation of the artistic and historic cultural legacies of the Latin American and Caribbean region. The New York Latin American Art Triennial seeks to galvanize the cultural landscape of the communities, complement the academic and visual arts programs of the galleries and institutions, and foster a wider appreciation of contemporary art and cultural understanding. A full schedule of events and list of presenting organizations can be found at www.nylaat.org, with more events to be announced in the coming weeks.

Today marks the first weekday of Black History Month, an annual observance dedicated to acknowledging the history of the African diaspora and the role of black Americans in their nation’s past and present.
The Hagley Library will be sharing relevant material from our collections periodically throughout the month. We’re starting out today with this ca. 1922 tintype photograph of Robinson's Coliseum, once located at 4th and DuPont Aves. in Lewes, Delaware.
Built in 1920, Robinson’s Coliseum once served as an important gathering place for the African-American population of Sussex County, Delaware. It was a meeting hall for the Sussex Colored League of Voters and the Lewes Independent Colored Club, as well as a social venue, sporting arena, music hall, health clinic, and community center.
By the early 1930′s, Robinson’s Coliseum became the Happy Day Club. While it continued to perform many of the essential functions it had served in the 1920s, this black-owned business became better known as a hot spot for traveling black entertainers on the Chitlin’ Circuit. Up through the late 1960s, the venue hosted famous musicians like Duke Ellington, Lena Horne, Count Basie, and Cab Calloway, as well as any number of local and lesser known acts. The venue reportedly honored the letter of local law by stopping the music at midnight, only to start back up at 12:01.
Unlike most segregated venues in the state, where white patrons enjoyed prime floor-level seating, white guests of the Happy Day Club were restricted to the second floor balcony seats, while black ticket-holders took the floor level. During the club’s heyday in the early 1950s, Beatrice N. Williams and her husband Marshall E. Lockwood took over operation of the venue. In 1971, they passed ownership of the business to their daughter, Beatrice Brown and her husband Isaac Brown, who owned it during its final days. While the club declined in popularity after the late 1960s, it continued to operate until August 1982, when it was destroyed by a fire.
This tintype is part of the Hagley Library’s P.S. du Pont photographs (Longwood) collection (Acc. 1969.002). To view more postcards and items from this trip, as well as much more from this collection, click here to visit its page in our Digital Archive.

Anniversary Photos
The week before we packed our bags in Philly and moved here to Boston, we snuck away to one of our favorite places in Pennsylvania: Longwood Gardens. We had met a lovely photographer at a grand opening party for CB2 a few months before, and she mentioned she was hoping to expand her photography portfolio to include more anniversary sessions. Right then I thought, while I take so many photos for the shop and social media (and so does my boo Will, who is super talented!), we rarely find ourselves in FRONT of the camera together -- and honestly, its been YEARS since we’ve had any really special photos of just us. So we decided right then to do a session before we left Philadelphia, as a token to remember our time there, and as a special little gift to ourselves.
This month actually marks our eight year wedding anniversary (I mean, WHAT?!), so when these photos hit my inbox from Celia, the timing felt so perfect. Will and I met in college, dated throughout, then got married shortly after we graduated--and while that sounds young and crazy to most, I feel so lucky that I found my person so early in life. We’ve walked through a lot of changes, supported each other during the toughest grinds of our professions, found and rescued the kookiest little pooch along the way, and have just GROWN together. I wake up everyday with my best friend, I went through my twenties with him by my side nearly every damn step of the day, and our adventure together still feels so new and exciting.
Obviously I’m a girl that loves flowers, like LOVES walking amongst them, picking them apart, staring at them for hours. And Will loves greenhouses, he loves observing people in candid moments - he has a way of picking out super ordinary moments, and appreciating them for the candid magic that they are. And we would escape away to this garden any chance we could for those exact moments together during our years in Philly -- so I love that we get to have such a special place frozen in time with these snapshots. My awkward haircut and all. Plus Will is glad to have his beard commemorated, which I personally am happy to say has since been shaved off for his new job, haha. Sorry!
It actually started raining basically five minutes into us arriving, and it was unseasonably chilly this day, but that is marriage and that is life guys. You show up in your best attire, hair did, nails polished, and it effing rains on you. You just gotta decide to have some fun regardless, and enjoy the moment. And that’s what we did!
Thank you Celia for the beautiful photos, and thank you to my boo for walking through life with me. NOW CAN WE GET A PHOTO SESH WITH GENERAL GAZPACHO ASAP?!
My outfit: dress by Kelly Love originally from the Millay shop, jacket is vintage, shoes by Llani
Venue: Longwood Gardens (if you live anywhere near here, take the time to visit, you will not regret it!)
