STAR YARD, BRICK LANE

In the heart of London's Bangladeshi community, the '90s brought art, fashion, and nightclubs to Brick Lane and saw it gain global fame for its graffiti. Just a few steps through the narrow alley below Fournier St, the alcoves of Star Yard played host for years to a changing gallery of creativity and expression by many of the top urban artists of the day. Sadly in late 2017 @ldn_calling_blog reported that in the latest blow by gentrification the lot owners covered more than half the space with a shed and declared the rest of the lot off limits to artists. Isle of Man artist Stedhead studied illustration at Glyndwr University in Wales and in 2014 moved to London to pursue career opportunities. In April, 2017, toward the end of Star Yard's run, Stedhead added this work from her sketchbook to the gallery.  @stedhead_art/  @stedhead_ink/

This mural at Bruno’s Basement took 3 days to complete and half a day to research and conceptualise. The process was smooth and straightforward because the owners pretty much trusted me with the research and approved the designs immediately. The materials I got were from the nearby #CassArt at Leichester Square. . It was either doing this or going out to sketch the city of London. . STREET in LONDON If murals are your Jam.. then East London is the place to visit when you are in UK. Specially Shoreditch, Hackney and Dalston are few places you need to check.. East London may have some dark history.. but quickly became the place for graffiti artist. Now it’s the hippie place with open markets, underground fashion streets and dope food!! The work of Bansky is a must watch.. In the frame: I’m standing in front of the mural work on King John Court. It’s a collaborate work of Mr. Oliver Switch & Busk. Different sections are by different artists.. To my left the mural is done by Tizer and Captain Kris. To my right the wall is the artwork of Slam and Best Ever. Traveler Tip: You can register to a street art tour to get a better perspective and meet people with same interests. Foodie Tip: being a foodie how can I miss this one.. if you are an Indian and missing home food, then east London has some kickass restaurants for your Asian palate.
