the party was in full swing when you entered, kuroo right on your heels.

scanning the room, you spotted an already drunk hinata, grinding on some guy with piss colored hair. you heaved out a sigh and moved towards the pair before you were stopped by the loud and boisterous host.

“yn!!! you came!!” bokuto yelled, his massive arms surrounding you and lifting you off the ground, your short business blazer dress riding up on your thighs.

“put me down!” your harsh squeal pierced through the sound of the heavy bass as your fists hit your friends’ muscular back. the sound of kuroo’s chuckle reached your ears and you turned to shoot him a glare.

bokuto laughed and gently placed you back on the ground before helping you pull your dress back in place. “where’d you come from? you’re dressed like somebody’s mom,” he shouted over the sound of WAP that was playing throughout the house. you rolled your eyes at him, standing on your tiptoes to see around his broad shoulders searching for hinata but he was gone.

another sigh escaped from your lips as you turned your attention back to bokuto’s pouting face. “can i get a drink?” you asked, resigned. he nodded, an understanding look gracing his angular face. a calloused hand enveloped yours as he led you to the kitchen where akaashi was mixing drinks.

“‘sup keiji,” tetsu’s baritone voice startled you as his arm reached over to grab a drink from akaashi’s hand. he gave you a sly smirk before handing you a drink as well. his long fingers brushed against yours in a way that had to be intentional. you pulled your hand back as a wave of heat enveloped your face.

the drink you were given was downed in a few seconds flat earning you concerned looks from your friends. you ignored them in favor of taking another cup and turning back towards the party.

[e/c] eyes drifted over the crowd before they landed on a pair of familiar emerald ones. it felt like a bucket of cold water had been poured over you, your back stiffening and your heart filling with dread.

kuroo noticed your change in behavior and placed a hand on your shoulder. “babe what’s wrong?” his voice was quiet in your ear and you repressed the urge to shudder. “he’s here.”

now it was your turn to notice kuroo tense, his body straightening up to his full height to observe the crowd. sure enough, a head of chocolate brown hair was weaving through the throngs of people until it was standing right in front of the kitchen.

tension spread through the area as your male friends eyed the newcomer. yoshio was clearly already inebriated, his speech slurred and stance unsteady.

you unconsciously leaned back into kuroo’s warmth, the hand on your shoulder moving to grip your waist and pull you closer to him. it would’ve felt nice, if not for the horrifying image of your ex standing before you.

“h-hey yn,” yoshio hiccuped as he stumbled closer to you. kuroo’s grip on you tightened.

“what do you want.” out of the corner of your eye, you could see bokuto getting closer to the three of you, looking oddly serious in comparison to his usual disposition.

yoshio laughed disarmingly, sending a chill down your spine. “i-i’m not doing anything s-silly! i just w-wanted to say hello!”

you weren’t buying it and neither were any of your friends.

“i think you should go,” kuroo bit out, his voice harsher than you’d ever heard before. your ex giggled but it quickly died down as his eyes trailed between the two of you before fixating on kuroo’s hand on your hip.

his glassy eyes bore holes into you, his eyebrows furrowing as though he was extremely upset about something. “y-you two,” yoshio started, his voice clearly disturbed. “you’re together!”

you felt your eyes widen as you went to correct him but kuroo stopped you with another squeeze to your waist. “and?” he raised a perfectly groomed eyebrow, his feline eyes glaring harshly at your ex.

yoshio shook his head, a disbelieving smile overtaking his sunken features. “n-no, you’re just trying to m-make me jealous. and b-boy is it working. why d-don’t you just come h-home with me and put that loud mouth t-to use.”

you felt your blood boil at his words and once again, you were stopped from speaking but this time, it wasn’t with a gentle pinch to your side.

it was with a kiss.

warm, soft lips enveloped yours and through your surprised haze, you just barely registered the feeling of arms wrapping around your torso and pulling you closer to the warm body of... kuroo?

holy shit.

kuroo was kissing you and you weren’t hating it. at all.

a tongue — which you could now identify as that of your childhood friend turned enemy turned friend again’s — swiped across your bottom lip to gain access to the wet cavern of your mouth.

without thinking, you allowed it, a soft moan emerging into the kiss as his tongue tangled with yours. before you knew what was happening, you were pressed against a pillar in the kitchen with your hands in his black bed head and your legs wrapped around his waist.

the kiss was hungry and sloppy, teeth clashing and in the midst of it all, you felt something hard press against your hip.

suddenly, you were shocked out of your lust. you pushed yourself out of kuroo’s arms, not missing the look of hurt that flashed across his face. you tried your best to give him an apologetic smile but it came across more of an uncomfortable grimace before turning and running out of the apartment.

kuroo let out an exhale and leant back against the island, a finger running over his kiss swollen lips.

“what the fuck.”
