Blaze (1989). A middle-aged Louisiana governor falls in love with a young stripper, which jeopardizes his political career and the radical policies which have made him a controversial figure.
This movie just has the weirdest tone to it? It never quite works out if it wants to be a comedy, romance or a drama, nor who's story it really wants to tell between the stripper with a heart of gold and the politician who falls in love with her. That's not to say it doesn't have it's moments - Lolita Davidovich in particular is great in the titular role, and there are a few fun sequences, but overall, it's just kind of a mess. 5/10.

Lolita Davidovich, Colm Meaney, Russell Crowe, and Mary McCormack in Mystery Alaska (1999), photographed in Banff National Park and other Alberta, Canada, locations by Peter Deming. Pete has six entries among my best 1001, including Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, Lost Highway, and Mulholland Drive.
His other notable credits include House Party, Scream 2, Scream 3, Austin Powers in Goldmember, I Heart Huckabees, Drag Me to Hell, Scream 4, Oz the Great and Powerful, 18 episodes of Twin Peaks, and The Menu.

'Monk' – Tony Shaloub is an OCD Sherlock Holmes on Netflix and Peacock
It’s a jungle out there and Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) should know. In Monk (2002-2009) he’s an obsessive-compulsive Sherlock Holmes who fights his fear of heights, of the dark, of germs, and pretty much everything else in the wake of his wife’s still-unsolved murder. It’s a challenge just to get out of the house. Luckily for us, he has a mind that won’t be stilled and when he’s onto a mystery,…

OC: S2E4- For A Few Leke More
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elliot gives Rita the waitress at the diner a copy of The Count of Monte Cristo to help her with her English. The chmistry between these two is insane. You basically feel the fatherly vibes rolling off-screen. All Elliot wants to do is protect her and he gives Reggie major side-eye everytime he hits on her.

At a poker game, Eddie meets a cocky guy called Luka. Luka talks down to Eddie about being a crappy judge of character and not very good at what he does, seeing as he did time. At the diner the next day, Rita is missing and Luka berates the other waitress, Amelia, for his order being wrong (even though she points out she did write it down correctly, he still blames her). Eddie tries to defuse the situation but Luka insults Eddie's loyalty so he punches him and threatens to gouge his eye out. Which is fair. But Reggie warns him that he's messed up because that's Kosta's oldest daughters finance.

Elliot tells Bell how he messed up and she tells him he should have known who Luka was. He said he had to do something as he was questioning his loyalty. He has a meeting with Kosta. Reggie tells him to run and implies his Father was killed by Kosta. Eddie says it'll be fine. He goes home and tells Eli he loves him and is proud of him. He calls Liv and tries to explain the 'I love you' comment but he can't find the words. Really nice scene between Elliot & Eli, where Elliot is hugging Eli too long because he thinks he's got a chance of getting killed by Kosta and wants Eli's last memory of him to be a good one and to let him know how much he loves him. It's sweet and Eli has the right amount of 'please stop' about him. It's also nice where Elliot just plays about with him before he goes and Eli laughs, it's a sweet genuine moment and I'd guess they improvised it just to add to the realism of the moment. Elliot calling Liv is also his way to try and get closure with her, but it's a one-sided conversation and he gives up. It's quite awful that if he had died, she'd have got one voicemail from him where he's cut off just before explaining the I love you moment. And that would have been her lasting memory of him.

Kosta isn't happy about what happened and says that he isn't part of the family and never will be and he doesn't care if Reggie vouches for him. But Albi does, and that holds weight with Kosta. He tells Eddie he's to replace Luka on a job that he was due to carry out that evening as a way to make it up to him.

Flutura comes to the gym and flirts with Eddie and invited him to her place. He goes there, drugs her drink and find a bunch of young girls passports, inluding Rita's. He leaves just before Albi gets back home.

The job from Albi is robbing a bar. A member of public calls the police and Bell has to intercept them, but when someone at the bar pulls a gun, Eddie shoots him. A cop inside manages to capture that Elliot responded to the warning and the guy was a threat. I'm really glad they established that Elliot only reacted in defense when he takes the shot, and it's non-fatal. Well hopefully. We never hear about this guy again I don't think, but lets assume all was fine.

Flutura turns up at Eddie's trailer and is grateful he didn't take advantage of him. They kiss and then go inside.
One thing I appreciate with OC is that they keep the women who show an interest in Elliot or his alter ego age appropriate. Lolita Davidovich is the same age as Meloni and I appreciate them not throwing some young girl at him to make it seems 'sexier'. They have a great connection as well and it works on-screen.

Robert Wagner and Lolita Davidovich are father and daughter in Pay it to the Bone (1999). This is Bob's third honorable mention, after With a Song in my Heart and The Towering Inferno.
