I mean this in the way that most people who are proship or profit also are in support of freedom of speech and are against censorship. Both are innatly good btw!

I just think it's crazy that antis say that we're all "chronically online gooners" when it's really not out of the ordinary that people's interests in activism and freedom of speech overlap with their interests in fandom. Like, I'm being so serious when I say that free speech is good and that my views against censorship affect how I interact with art in a healthy way. I really don't understand it when antis talk about how we don't do anything productive with our stance in fandom spaces when being against the censorship of art and literature has an impact on the real world in more ways than antis seem to realize.

Book bans are bad. The erasure of queer art/writing is bad. The silencing of BIPOC voices and representation is bad. People should have access to libraries, art galleries, and archives to house the things that aren't in those places. Information being readily available is a good thing, and it goes without saying that the more information we have access to then the less people will believe things that are simply untrue. Bigotry controls how a lot of the world works, and you can see that fact everywhere. Anti-censorship means that, yes, bigots have the right to voice their god-awful opinions. But that also means that people who aren't full of hate also have that right. You can't take away someone's right to express themselves just because you personally don't like it. This goes for fiction as well as opinions that bigots may have. At the end of the day, fiction is just a means of expression in some magnitude. Everyone benefits. And even if bad people do benefit from it too, that just means that people who want the world to be a better, kinder place have just as much of a say on the matter. (Also, people giving out death threats and harassing people isn't exactly cool and doesn't qualify as freedom of speech when it's the threat of harm. That's just a crime at that point). You can't magically make the world a better place by being mad at people though. Hate only leads to more hate. But you can use your hate in a positive way by helping others and spreading information that people can actually benefit from. You have to take some sort of action to do something about making a difference in a positive way.

And I'm sorry, but just because loliso makes someone personally uncomfortable (me included), that doesn't give people the right to make it a crime to create or view it unless an actual child was harmed in the process of making it. And even then, it's when CSEM is used as reference material, and that's already illegal as it is. You can't get rid of something just because you don't like it.

I feel like the overlap that proship has with these real-world things can't be ignored. What do antis do though? Perpetuate censorship and witch hunts for something they don't like? Which really does more good in the real world and which does more harm in the end?

The romanticization and usage of lolicon in anime are downright gross and pedophilia. They are children. There is no reason to draw a character purposefully to look suggestive and then make them a minor. I feel like people ignore the fact that this doesn't even happen to just young ages either. It happens to a lot of characters. I honestly think that regardless of a show's rating, underage characters shouldn't have unrealistic body proportions in the two most oversexualized parts of the body. The same damn thing happens to male characters, too. They romanticize having abs and being buff but ignore that their minors. Then, they oversexualize the feminine characters and never really address the fact that their children or teens.

MeatCanyon, or Papa Meat, is a Youtuber who makes very crude and physically ugly animations about popular cartoons and other Youtubers.

He uploaded a video yesterday going after the lolisho community/anime community as a whole, calling them pedophiles while getting the terms loli and shota wrong (he also misspelled shota as “shouto”.)

What’s hypocritical about this is some of his animations have characters from both American/Canadian and Asian cartoons, that are supposed to be minors, in very sexual situations. There was also one animation he made riffing on Tom Brady kissing his real-life son on the mouth but he made it a make-out session and it went on for way longer.

He’s been deleting comments off the lolisho video that bring up his hypocrisy and correct him about the terms he used.

I’m not even a fan of lolisho to be honest, don’t really watch anime all that much anymore, except for a few series I like (Digimon, YuGiOh (Duel Monsters) Hellsing, and Berserk, to name a few!) but I’m sick and tired of having this kind of stuff being talked about by those who aren’t in the anime community and accusing people in said community of horrible things, especially when Papa Meat is an animator and should know the difference between cartoon anime girls and actual, real life children.

Okay. So there's a page on The Spriter's Resource that I left a comment on where I asked if anyone else thought the proportions of the characters were weird because the game and character design was overtly sexual and even the game had sex in the title. I'm not saying the game because I don't want to give it attention but with that being said here is my interpretation of what the characters looked like + the comments I received in response.

You could make the argument that they had to make the characters small due to it being easier or them still wanting to use low-res pixel art, but they could've just made the bodies taller and the head a bit bigger to compensate for the eyes. And in the game there's a boss character with much higher resolution, more detailed art. So these people were clearly capable of making the characters simple but in proportion, but they chose not to. Even if making the characters look like adults would've been too daunting, too fucking bad. If you're making a porn game, suck it up and use more pixels because making characters like these and sexualizing them is flagrantly approving of the sexualization of young people whether they realize it or not. Not to mention the guy who responded with such a horrible word to use in really any context. Even aside from the use of that word, his argument falls flat. If you photoshop a 9 year old to have thicker thighs, they will still look like a 9 year old because big boob and big thigh doesn't change the proportions of the head, the eyes and the body. Call me an uncultured snowflake but this genuinely pisses me off. This problem barely scratches the surface of the awful shit hentai artists do like disregarding female or submissive character's consent, enjoyment or dignity, fetishizing LGBTQ+ people or entire races or aging up child characters (which is a whole other can of worms) among many other things. These people get so successful too and can make lots of money and gain a huge following from making somewhat normal porn alongside at best questionable and at worst horrific shit. I have zero qualms with wanting to draw porn, but like… have some humanity.

Please tell me I'm not alone in thinking drawing characters like that is fucked up.
