Pros and cons of Ao3 and Fanfiction

I regularly wonder if i've read a fic or not after opening the link to whatever someone else was looking for in ao3. There's no good way to know unless you A) remember. B) wait a little bit and hope the number of times a link been clicked in history gives it away which not accurate cause I've had tabs open for months and not actually read them. Or C) Have the patience of a saint to scroll through the kudos to see if your tag is there cause I tend to kudos thinks 've finished or started and bookmarked. I wish your kudos stayed at the top of the list so you'd just know. Lord please don't ask me why I don't make collections cause I darn well haven't figured it out. Ergo why I share thinks on here with a million tags in hopes of finding things again if need be. My favorite thing about ao3 is the bookmark and save for later feature that fanfiction lacks. Alternatively I adore the fact fanfiction lets you fave stories and authors and then you can look through your faves to see what you have and haven't read base on authors I.E. for me I'm working my way through Beepkeeper atm didn't realize I hadn't binged them all yet. Not a fan of the follow story feature so much as yes it tells you there's an update in email but you have to remember where you left off yourself.

I also get sucked into the trap of rereading things rather than finishing the other 100 tabs already up because hey I loved that story. Vaguely remember bits and pieces but the ending is doggy so lets recap anyways. I bookmarked that story years ago and forgot about it waiting for updates but now it's finally finished and I need to know it from front to back. Last but not least that story has been bookmarked for ages and remains unfinished must to your dismay but you want to remember what everyone's talking about anyways. I'm about to go cry in a corner because I thought the The much better, Dursley's can fuck off, Slytherins are people too AU series was complete only to realize part 5 hasn't been updated since 2018.

Throughout the Odyssey, Odysseus had placed Penelope at a high pedestal. His devotion so ground breaking that he’s willing to go through so many lengths to meet his wife — a being so pure and bright in his eyes.

As years go on, Odysseus only sees her as this beam of hope, talking of himself as a tainted figure in comparison; unable to find any reason to push forward if it were not for his Polaris. Ultimately having situations, like in the musical, where he begs for Penelope in his dreams to see him as no different to the man she once loved. In fear that if he does come back, he had become too corrupt and disproportionate for her to recognize.

Mind that I like to think he had forgotten that time has changed her too — making her wiser and more cunning. The Penelope he talks of when influencing himself and others is only a still portrait of her younger self from when he had left Ithaca.
