I hear anon's pain, but as a VERY dysphoric trans guy who needed both hormones and top surgery to finally feel stable emotionally, it saddens me that anon is shit talking non-dysphoric trans ppl.

One of the people who helped me the most while I recovered from surgery is a non-dysphoric person. They're not our enemy. They're our siblings. It sounds like you've had some terrible experiences with extremists, and I am pissed off for you that someone could say such hurtful things, but becoming the opposite extreme is not helpful. Everyone deserves to have access to gender affirming care, but some people simply don't want medical interventions. And that's also okay.

I'll give a few examples that were key to making me step away from the transmed mentality:

1) I talked with a post-transition woman who had sought all the treatment she wanted. She was non-dysphoric (for the most part - visiting family was hard). I had always been told that dysphoria was a requirement to me trans, but she helped me understand that, once your gender is affirmed enough, the dysphoria doesn't occupy so much of your mind. Dysphoria is not what makes someone trans. Misery is not all we are.

2) My closest friend briefly believed themselves to be trans and sought HRT. She loved some of the effects of testosterone, specifically bottom growth. It helped them reclaim a part of their body that felt dysphoric due to trauma. However, she decided to stop taking T because she identified more with womanhood than manhood. My understanding is that they still feel more androgynous than a cis woman, but do not consider herself to be trans. She did detransition, but not in a transphobic TERFy way. This taught me that being trans is also not a requirement for gender dysphoria. Medical intervention helps cis folks too.

3) After I had been on hormones a while, my gender evolved. I considered myself a man for a long time, while I was steeped in transmed ideology. But when I first heard of being trans, the label I felt drawn to was genderfluid. But as I became an older teen, I settled on being a trans man because I so desperately wanted to be called masculine terms. To have a flat chest, a beard, and deeper voice. But as I started gaining more of these traits, I felt myself wanting to have androgynous features too. Now I call myself by multiple labels. Trans guy, transmasculine, and nonbinary are the "offical" terms I use, but in a sense I still like the genderfluid label! I just never feel like a woman or a girl, unless the song "girls just wanna have fun" comes on, but that's another story lol. But usually I feel fluid in my masculinity. I'm just some guy, but I'm not a man. These days I even do drag! I could never have imagined being this way when I was a transmed, because all I saw was gender as a medical thing that had to be treated. Having fun with my gender made me happier, and I'm so glad I didn't force myself into the "male box"

I may not admittedly understand all xenogenders or neopronouns or whatever else. But I don't have to understand to respect it. As long as they're not actively causing harm, then it's not a problem. The people who have said hurtful things to you ARE a problem, but not inherently because of their gender. They're a problem because they're causing harm. Don't make things worse by causing harm back to others. Break the cycle!

2. 5 favorites of your own work?

I'm really living it up with this alien portrait of myself I did recently. I just really love the colors and the way I rendered things to look glowy.

This piece is one of my favorites for the cohesiveness of it. It's really hard to render characters one by one and still make them look like they were all rendered the same way. I like how each of them stands out in their own unique way, and how the colors are all a part of the same color palette and yet the colors translate well for each of them.

In a much more lighthearted direction, I really enjoyed working on this piece. It was as calming as the subject material to render. I really like the warm green and the warmth in Link's hair in this. Also kitty :3

This is one of the first full on digital paintings I've done and actually liked by the end of it. The colors are probably my favorite part. There are parts of it that I would change, like have the lighting be a little more dramatic, like she's sunlit, and make her skin more pigmented (I swear I need to get my monitor color corrected).

Okay this one is a hilarious last addition in comparison with the other ones, but I think this is literally the most handsome man I've ever drawn. For those of you unfamiliar, this is my Sparrow, or Hero of Bowerstone from Fable II. I based him off of the male default art for the game (pictured on the left), and I'm just incredibly proud of the design flairs I gave for his older self. I will never be able to top this in terms of handsomeness. Not unless it's art depicting him (his name is William Fulton btw, and he's Cassandra's dad [pictured above]).

4. Favorite things to draw?

Ooh this questions is also just as hard to narrow down lol. Well, I've always enjoyed drawing people and doing character design, and that's a trend that has followed me all my life. I'm specifically having a lot of fun redesigning some of my character designs for a couple of Kotor characters (a hint of what's to come perhaps?).

I also enjoy drawing long flowing hair with lots of flyaways, quick and dynamic sketches with lots of foreshortening, and characters that I love (which happens to be Zena, Mira, and Malak for whatever reason. Torellia and Atton are in time out at the moment for both having hard to draw short hair and being dumb with their life decisions lol). Oh, and recently I've really enjoyed doing background studies. I would love to make backgrounds consistently in the future cause it's actually a lot of fun.

Oh, and eyes. Lots and lots of eyes. I'll probably post a big sketch dump after this lol, cause I'm realizing there are quite a few pieces and sketches I have yet to show you guys :)

1. Which three fics occupy your top posts? Tell me a bit about the inspiration behind them!

I’m going to assume this means my most popular posts, so I’m going to go by hits

#3 - It Had To Be You: this is the first fic I ever posted so I’m not surprised it has some of the highest ratings on my profile. Sakuatsu was HUGE back when I wrote this and I think people were ready to consume any media about them at the time because this is not my finest work lol. The inspiration came from watching When Harry Met Sally (my fav romcom of all time, I rewatch it like 10 times a year) and I realized that the personalities of the main pairing fell in line well with sakuatsu.

#2 - you’ll always know me: my baby. My piece de resistance. I’m not surprised it didn’t blow up the way aibtntfi has as hq has a shit ton of extremely good fics so you’re never really lacking for good content, but I’m very pleased this is my second most read! The basic inspiration for this was that I was listening to Taylor Swift’s evermore album (tis the damn season/dorothea in particular) and those two songs reminded me a lot of iwaoi in the time skip. A childhood friends to enemies to friends to lovers was perfectly in the cards for it and I think I planned out the entire fic in like three days.

#1 - and i’ve been tryin’ not to feel it: no one is shocked except for me lol. I never expected for this fic to do as well as it has but now this fic is basically the reason I have a following at all! The inspiration behind this was seeing a lot of jjk tiktokers doing ooc skits and it made me so irritated that I had to write a Megumi and itafushi that I felt was in character for a modern au. It was originally supposed to be a short oneshot but here we are 12 chapters later lol

12. Pick three fics that feature the same trope. What do you like the most about writing that trope and/or how did you do that trope differently in each story?

Friends 👏🏻 to 👏🏻 lovers 👏🏻 slow 👏🏻 burn 👏🏻 Slow burns are my favorite romance trope. I’m aspec so it’s RARE that I’m ever convinced by an insta-love story and I think slow burns where the couple truly gets to know and understand each other are the most romantic sort. Honestly, the only fics of mine that really feature this and can be considered a slow burn are my only three multi-chapter fics lol

• you’ll always know me: This one was the most fun to write, hands down. The angst, the yearning, the passion, this fic had everything that I love I truly wrote it for myself. I think it has the most believable romance out of all of my fics and my use of memories/flashbacks at the beginning or end of each chapter really made the story and relationship feel so much deeper. I can’t rave enough about how much I love it.

• and i’ve been tryin’ not to feel it: This fic is a slow burn in the sense that they like each other the entire time but are both idiots. I did include instant attraction in this one, but it’s not insta-love. Megumi is immediately intrigued and attracted to Yuuji but he refuses to let himself get drawn in by him (he folds almost immediately). Their relationship has been very fun to write and seeing them grow together and slowly understand themselves and each other has been wonderful to write out.

• It Had To Be You: this one isn’t unique at all in the sense that I didn’t realize I didn’t have to copy When Harry Met Sally plot point by plot point. I waited way too late to start changing things up and adding my own personal flair to the storyline, but it’s still a fun time. This fic has the most standard annoyances to friends to lovers plot but I still think it’s quite believable.

Sorry for the ramble in your inbox incoming- I'm a really huge fan of your analysis type posts like the ones about Cathal and recently Flint ;A; So I hope its ok to maybe throw in my own 2 cents about Cogs/their society- (Sorry this gets rambly I thought about this last night and writing this like an hour after waking up lol)

I think what alot of people kind of (I wouldnt say ignore- more of:) don't really get is that I dont believe characters like Cathal or Flint have bad tendencies because they really want to in a way, (I kind of worded that poorly but point is) but because their society rewards and encourages that type of behavior. I think you said something kind of similar on Cathals post- But especially for Flint, whose a Bossbot (Who are literally the embodiment of a toxic workplace and elitism. I believe a old snippet from the TTO magazines says "They have no real skills of their own, just the ability to push down others and stay on top!" Or something to that nature.) he has to be demanding and imposing. There is no benefit to him in being kind. (Like looking at Misty for example) And don't get me wrong I don't believe that if Flint and Cathal were removed from Cog society they'd be better/objectively nicer (Like Flint not being condescending to Toons and Cathal not making people do things for him and being encouraged to try) But I do wonder how much of it is pressure, or how much of it is egged on and rewarded. Atleast in the aspects it relates to how they treat others.

(..And also I wonder what happens to Cogs that don't get jobs and are seen as ..not functioning. Since Graham was freaking the hell out in "Meeting Of Two Minds" over the possibility of not getting the job. I have a whole thing about this actually in my oc lore but thats another thing entirely I'll write about someday I swear)

Also I gasped when I saw the doodle of Graham in the MSI shirt finally a MSI listener Graham truther. I think he'd like the album "How I Learned To" and of course "You'll Rebel To Anything". I associate him mainly with the songs "Lights Out", "On It", and "You're No Fun Anymore" :p (This has been my favorite band since I was like 13 and now I get to spill all my opinions xD) I always imagined him doing the guitar backbend their bassist does! And my final hc is that Flint plays bass and Graham plays the main guitar. I think it fits them .. some people overlook bass when its actually pretty hard to learn from what I hear and vital to the song. (Like heres Feel Good Inc w/o the bass.. feels wrong x_x)

THe biggest issue with Cogs Inc is that it REWARDS and ENCOURAGES these poor behaviors, worsening these characters as people. ESPECIALLY cathal considering the position of power they’re in. I’m sure it applies to a ton of other cogs too, but unfortunately I haven’t gotten to them yet bc I’m not as insane abt them . LMAO

And yeah since cogs are literally built for work, it’s a wonder what happens to those who can’t find a job as easily as others. Hoping that gets built on since it’s clear in MOTM that these cogs have to actually apply and go to interviews and probably face some trial and error to land a job, just like people IRL.

ALSO. THE BAND HCS. I love it and you’re SOOOO RIGHT about the backbend that is so grahamcore. And yes I’m pretty sure Flint does play bass, I think his creator mailman said smth abt that on their blog . AND IM SO GLAD YOU BROUGHT UP FEEL GOOD INC bc i did draw flint in a demon days shirt in that same animatic . And ive def drawn them in the same shirt a couple times in the past too . I’ve always imagined him to be a Gorillaz fan, maybe graham too

you know Supergirl right. heard of her. kara zor-el (spelling may wary) she's superman's cousin (usually) and has the same power set. it's me supergirl and i have all your powers

power girl is Also kara zor-el (spelling may vary) from a Different Dimension. two of them.

the details about her backstory vary a little but the agreed upon IDEA for her is that her home dimension has like collapsed somehow or the earth in it is torn to shreds or whatever. she's either like the only survivor of a dimension that went poof or she's been isekai'd here from an earth that was getting blown up by demons or whatever.

and now there's two karas and theyre forced to coexist on the same earth and they can't both show up dressed like supergirl so now power girl has to do her own thing.

that's like generally the gist of whats going on w her conceptually. she got vooped over here and now she's stranded on an earth that isn't hers with castmates that aren't the same people she knew

like i said the specifics of her backstory vary but on top of being Dimension Displaced she usually shares Supergirl's whole "after their home planet exploded she arrived to earth much later than Superman did, due to Space Shenanigans" thing. she's usually older than supergirl. and she DOES have bigger boobs also. NOT sure why that's a dimensional difference between them but i'll take it (what were they feeding her on earth 2?)

sometimes they're drawn basically looking identical. i can understand the impulse (they are both kara zor-el after all.) but i think it's kind of a shame when power girl doesn't look Older than her because i like it when she's older than her. i guess sometimes they either ditch that part or just don't feel like it. F.

anyway when they look identical you can usually tell them apart by identifying which one DC has bequeathed the Boob Window upon and that one will be power girl. works every time

to me i became enamored with her when i was reading some green lantern comic (it was my first comic, they had launched a guy's coffin into the sun and had to go get it back it was wack) and i noticed a boob window girl (my beloved) had BEEN INVITED but didnt get to DO anything. she spent all her time standing in crowd shots while other people did the main stuff. and i thought "wow. now there's a character i need to put in my purse". and the rest is history

she kind of struggles in general because she doesn't get a lot of content coming her way. (and when she does it's not usually stuff that i love.) she shares this with supergirl too 🥰

for a bonus side-elaboration on what IM doing over here in my AU, my main basis for CTDE power girl is her shenanigans in the n52 where she gets stuck here WITH another extremely normal girl (they get isekai'd together during like a big dumb demon war on their home earth). that's helena wayne she's batman's daughter in the other dimension and no such person exists on this earth. they're both stuck (together) (the only 2 people on earth who know and understand each other) (it's romance) (superbat for girls)

in that story power girl becomes like mildly obsessed for a bit with devising a way to get HOME to her own dimension and earth which is (as far as she knows) still under siege by Planet Fucking Hellmouth. shes building machines. shes using technology

(while helena believes there's nothing to go home to anymore and they should try to make a new life in this new dimension)

what gets me about it is that its SO FUNNY that this specific power girl's setup is basically a supervillain origin story that they just don't lean into because her name is on the book (obviously). (hey why do so many villains build a DimensionFucking Machine that's gonna Fuck Up the Dimensions because theyre obsessed with something on the other side anyway)

but i feel no such restraint obviously!!!!

so anyway my CTDE "Arc 1" is about Power Girl (now almost two decades deep in her desperate fixation) finishing building the ultimate DimensionFucker 9000 to get home. shes been working on this for years. she doesn't care very much about this earth and she needs to go back to her own one NOW

Helena is realizing with horror she's way too late to talk her babygirl out of this one because PG just isn't listening to her anymore (and as a human she would struggle to snap PG out of it by force). she feels she has no other recourse but to betray her most specialest girl and sell her out to supergirl, who's investigating the Weird Dimension Rift Shit that's been going on (and is strong enough to actually fight her)

And Supergirl has to stop PG because what that thing is doing to HER universe is NOT GOOD!!!!!

(Supergirl was like a teenager when her home planet krypton went kaboom--she Remembers it and feels detached from everything because she doesn't Have a home anymore + oh my god the trauma + also no one on earth even really needs her that much. but that doesn't mean PG can DESTROY THE DIMENSION!!!!)

(also in my AU the other earth is actually lost for good, so it's not only a Grief Quest but a FUTILE Grief Quest because there's no one alive and nothing to salvage on the other side of the portal anyway)

It's the "Power Girl As Villain In A Supergirl Book" arc. because i think women should have cute obsessions that endanger other people and i LOVE when the karas interact

like it all works out. it's fine. they do some crying and screaming at each other, some kicking and punching, helena gets her piece in, and PG's brain fungus finally calms down enough for her to take the "Protagonist Kara" seat for Arc 2 (when Supergirl has her own issues to deal with)

theres just a lot of "kara zor el screaming At Herself that she can't go home because there is no such place anymore and she has to live with that forever in a place she doesn't belong". you know. girl talk

1. little women (2019)

watched it with three of my best friends when it first was in theaters so that definitely added to the message and experience watching it. i love how greta gerwig directed the sister dynamic. she’s gone on record on interviews and also if you can find the screenplay itself that in the script the actors’ lines were written on top of one another to reflect the spontaneity and chaos of sisterhood and family through the film’s dialogue. so genius?!?! this adaptation just felt so real and genuine and i also see a little of myself in all the sisters 🫶

2. challengers

UGH i did like a whole deep dive here but in short: luca guadagnino you absolute mastermind. i love tennis, i love colorgraded film and photography, i love hot people!!!! story was insane, i quite literally had to sit in my car for like half an hour just processing when i got out the movie house before i felt normal enough to drive home lol.

3. emma (2020)

again i did a thorough tedtalk on this one. but i’m a big jane austen fan!!! and the aesthetics and score on this adaptation were just off the charts and so so lovely. love the regency era and i think they translated it to screen in a very appealing and classic (although maybe not entirely historical but hey it’s art) way. i’ll always come back to it as my comfort movie ngl.

4. call me by your name

amazing story. (not a love story mind you!!!) which is actually why it stuck with me sm bc i went in with my hopeless romantic self just to be fuckin crushed. watched it two summers ago and it took me like weeks to recover, it broke my heart in a way that felt so good. also just a downright beautiful film all around (colorgrade, cinematography, acting, music, everything!!). in guadagnino we trust!!!

lucy liu and cillian murphy? ummm FUCK YES? my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE in the romcom genre to date. they just match each other’s freak. and the whole movie is abt being film nerdy and awkward and weird and manic pixie dream girl and like lowk…. so ro-core fr!

ok don’t call me a freak, it was pretty interesting— from the aesthetics, to the minimal dialogue, to the overall story. it’s a doozy but imo that shit was art. (or guillermo del toro was the real freak all along)

my fav ghibli film bc it’s just so haunting in a way none of the other ghibli films are and i like that. like the way some of those characters were drawn was lowk gross—but i find that kinda gnarly. so over the top fantastical it makes my brain tingle in a certain way.

isle of dogs

my fav wes anderson film in both stop motion or live action (my fav live action of his was the most recent asteroid city tho!). truly art and has such a heartwarming story but at the same time the DRAMA. my lord. crazy how captivating the story was even if half of it was in largely unsubtitled japanese—unique choice but i actually liked what it added to the movie a lot especially considering the movie’s pov from an english-speaking dog. i’m actually a big cat person but i finished that movie so convinced that fuck yeah that dog is man’s bsf right there

the amazing spiderman movies

andrew garfield’s spiderman is my fav <3 but also i love the darker feel to this version of spiderman. maybe it’s bc i’m also a big batman/dc fan (sorry my marvel babes </3) and generally those movies have been handled with a more dark tone. but nonetheless andrew garfield is hot too so that’s a plus!

i’m lowk a disney hater but this movie was SO. CUNTY. fuck i loved it. the actors were amazing and the visuals and the FASHION were just mwah, especially compared to other disney live action films (😭).

maleficent & maleficent: mistress of evil

AGAIN, SO FUCKING CUNTY even if i’m a reluctant disney enjoyer. i watched the first installment when i was real young but in 3d at the movie house. SO COOL. watched the second one with my mom at home. IMMEDIATELY WATCHED IT AGAIN. angelina jolie is maleficent, n i love how these movies characterize the villain in such a genuinely human way i don’t think anyone could’ve seen coming when these babies first came out.

REGARDING PACIFIC RIM: FINAL BREACH

If you didn’t know, Pacific Rim Uprising might be getting a part two!

Analysis under the cut!

Yeah, yep. They’re asking for funding for it but it’s real.

Let’s break down the cover for a minute (courtesy of the newmann server :D).

THESE ARE ALL ASSUMPTIONS BASED ON THE COVER, NONE OF THIS IS SET IN STONE + WE DONT EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH OF THE STORY IS WRITTEN.

So the very first thing you’ll notice is Jake, Raleigh, and Newt on the cover.

I’m assuming that they’re capitalising on the fact that Hunnam doesn’t actually have to be there to add him to the story (he was busy with something else when PRU was being filmed which is why he wasn’t in PRU).

So already we know this is going to be a deviation from the original PRU:2 (PR3, but we all know it’s PRU:2). Now is this a good thing? Well… who knows. We know almost nothing, but if he’s going to be piloting a Jaeger like the cover suggests through him wearing a pilot suit either he’s going to be piloting with Jake or Mako, meaning they might be reviving her. Otherwise he could be with Nate or Amara but that just seems like it would have less narrative significance. It would be funny if both Raleigh and Mako got revived haha, like a ghost Jaeger lol. ANYWAY, MOVING ON.

Wait. Edit: Not moving on, i have another comment here. It’s entirely possible he might not be piloting at all actually, we seriously don’t know if it’s just been drawn like that because of the reference photos:

that it’s been drawn with. It could just be an oversight, it seems like a waste if they didn’t but it still could be.

So you’re probably also noticing the art style they’ve got going on is pretty realistic looking, I’ve got some theories on that. First off, it could just be cover art, like it’s entirely possible that it’s just cover art. The images themselves are pulled pretty directly from actual photos of them which I’d think would be unsustainable in the long run (maybe they were just trying to present people with something they’re familiar with?) and are pretty realistic which takes a fair amount longer than most comic drawings that we’ve known in the PacRim comics. My second theory is that they ARE doing a very realistic style in an attempt to mimic an actual movie in place of well.. a movie, whether the composition of this is going to be any different to match more closely to a comic who knows. It’s almost a reverse spiderverse if they try to transcribe a cinematic style onto a comic haha.

In terms of the credits up the top, the only credited person on the cover that I’ve managed to find is Fialkov who was also someone that worked on Pacific Rim: TFY0 and Pacific Rim: TFTD. Everyone else is new.

Now the big Jaeger sized elephant in the room, what about the big Jaeger in the back? Well, we know the plan was always to invade the anteverse (the place where the kaiju and the precursors came from) and destroy it, so it’s almost definitely a more armoured version of GAvenger. Other than that? Who knows, again we know almost nothing. We don’t even know who’s piloting it.

In terms of where it sits in the continuity we can also assume it’s probably not going to be compliant with PR:TB since not only is PR:TB barely following any of the lore of Pacific Rim but also the whole premise of PR:TB is that the breaches open and a bunch of Kaiju pour out all over Australia and they can’t stop them, so for PR:FB to have a satisfying ending to a franchise that’s been here for over a decade they’d need to destroy the anteverse, close the breach, and have it never open back up. You see the issue here?

Anyway, that’s about it for now. Once we get more info I’ll go through it again.

I l-o-v-e shipping them but I'm also aware that they're literally big brother/little brother and that all of the physicality and closeness is identical to Charles with Arthur. that and the fact that Carlos is sahuuuuuper straight and folks just confuse euro dude behavior with friends for gayness. Carlos was the one who pushed for Lando to grow up and get a gf and Carlos himself was practically engaged for 6 or 7 years. his own sister gave Isa her wedding bouquet ffs. he's so confirmed heterosexual that he can't be alone for more than 2 seconds between girlfriends lol

but between McLaren content on social media getting absolutely bombarded with irrelevant carlando comments and the hate toward Rebecca ramping up every single damn day (I'd say it's a solid 80/20 mostly of rpf hate toward her and the remaining being plain old jealousy) idk it's not feeling good rn. and it's mostly on IG and a bit on YT (I don't use twitter) but yikes at how much Lando content has something about 'he's thinking about Carlos' or 'omg just like Carlos' or carlando when it's nothing to do with carlando. Lando works so incredibly hard at the two to three careers he's running consecutively and it feels pretty damn insulting to reduce him to one F1 friend - however close they are. Carlos has nothing to do with Quadrant or Lando's YT work or his own sponsorship work. that's Lando doing all of that.

that and when the Today show interviewer pushed the "bromance" angle you could see Lando get kind of fed up (which they tried to edit out) and steer the question back around to actual racing. tbh he even seemed a little icked by DTS making such a big deal about carlando and he and Max joked it off.

even through my Singapore euphoria I could tell Carlos and Lando were walking media ppl back from going too literal with the DRS and saying no, it was advantageous for Carlos and yes, Lando absolutely would've overtaken him if he could have gotten the win for himself. I've actually really respected Lando reminding people that they're not in these rarefied positions to do anything other than try to win or as close to it as possible. they're not making millions and living the high life just to throw race results in the air and play favorites with their friends !!??

and this whole "competition" between carlando and dando/charlos/landoscar/whatever is absolutely not making it's way onto my blog lol. I do know that a lot of people in tumblr are just joking when they do that and I think the 'angst' posts are funny but wow IG and YT are not playing around. they're making videos trying to like disprove other Lando ships and it's ??? (funniest one is the Vegas opening ceremony thing and fighting over who Lando was waving to, Daniel or Carlos) these dudes are absolutely not having real life in-fighting about which of their friends they like "better" or who is their bestest friend. (especially when Lando in the same interview as above stated that F1 drivers - Carlos included - are not his actual private life friends so uh oh how does that play into the competition?? it's so absurd)

I'm not a wives and girlfriends obsessive but I absolutely I am not here for them receiving anything negative from F1 fans unless they themselves have instances truly, openly as problematic as the drivers often are. even then I'm wary bc the sexism motive and double standards run so deep in fandom against women. Rebecca has done nothing but exist as Carlos' gf and it's just a sea of "there's something fake about her" and "body experts" claiming the relationship is fake and that she's "obviously a beard" while he's actually with Lando. that last part craaaaacks me tf up because these men travel to Middle Eastern countries where homosexuality has the death penalty or prison.......... they are NOT gonna be out here referring to themselves publicly as a bromance and their ship name if they're trying to keep this huge gay secret while they tour maximum home o'fobic countries???

I have a few extra thoughts about why folks have especially latched onto being proprietary about which men Lando is closest to or "should be with" when it comes to rpf but I feel like we all kinda know why. I'm over here writing pages of text about him which is lame in it's own way - but even I acknowledge that his greatest attraction as a person is himself and not his relationships to other people. it's why he's the sun that a lot of this content orbits around.

I'm also genuinely glad that Lily's existence and Oscar's quiet but firm reminders of her arrived alongside the landoscar fandom happening. I don't personally see any hate toward her and no one's in denial. even the rare fic that has him and Lily fictionally break up is fully fair to her. I've also posted a lot about how I genuinely love real life Lando and Oscar interaction even more than the rpf (and I love the rpf lol) and honestly the feeling seems shared with a lot of us from what I've seen. so especially if Lily uses her engineering degree to start working in F1 it's good to know that she won't have to deal with crazed conspiracy theories about her being an F1 industry plant to keep Oscar's dick out of Lando's hole or whatever.

for anyone who's read this far or skipped to the end tldr I'm always going to ship carlando and landoscar (and even dando) as well as charlos. but as a carlando shipper I really hope the commodification of it dies down before it truly starts to piss off Lando or Carlos. or Carlos has to put his foot down like Lando did and say hey, stop harassing my girlfriend it's weird.

I have always sort of liked the set up of tumblr more anyway but a fear of being annoying and posting things people don't care about when they probably follow me for a fandom I haven't drawn fanart for in 2 years lol.

Hello! I'm BoltCreature. I do a lot of thinking about drawing and SOME actual drawing. Mostly chibi/SD stuff cause I have that issue where if I can't finish something in one burst of drawing I don't wanna finish it (this is only 50% a joke).

As far as hobbies go I love tokusatsu, manga and anime, video games, horror movies and gunpla mostly.

Not hate but a complaint on my gallacrafts for theme 11 I'm fucking gay. I got an anon asking why I made the lesbian flag & put the phrase I'm fucking gay & i that should have just done lesbian although I had actually made both but it was on the part 2 bc i had a limit of 10 pictures.

Probably the GGE2022 for Macy. I had some other ideas. Also their poses were gonna be different like it was either the back of them looking at snow or tumbled into the snow on top of an ny roof top but still not the best at figure drawing so i just did the best of my abilities 😄

I would say my good omens au I simply adorethe little details I put into the drawing. I referenced Mickey's outfit in Ian's delete scene dream. Ian's outfit is 7x10 just in darker colours. I loved being able to create Ian's ombre eyes by colour picking Cameron's hazel ones. Ian's hair shading. The heart wings & being able to creat the wing texture on the angel wing. AND their signature shows with the timberland & bright read air forces!!! I had such a fun time drawing this 🥰 Also it was my 100,000 post lol

18. What is one thing you’d like to tell people about your art that they might not know?

My gallavich art is the first time I've been colouring my drawings. When I drew a lot in high school I would just do the line art & was too hesitant to colour them.

19. What inspires or motivates you to create for fandom?

Definitely you guys! Being able to make you guys smile. As well as your creations & the creating events 💕🖌

I do like to crawl up into a hunched ball on the lounge couch or my bed (which should stop bad for posture lol) Then I do enjoy playing YouTube video essays about internet history/horror games I'd never play or movie reactions.

Also, I am more of an artist who researches & and works with many references. I got a whole lotta unclosed tabs of Ian & Mickey, body poses & clothes that i forgot to close lol.

Your First Fandom: For fic: Phantom of the Opera, in the lead-up to the 2004 movie! For art: Neopets, a couple of years earlier.

Your Current Fandom: A number of books! I’m most into Edwardian novels, though anything with slash potential and an interwar, Edwardian, or Victorian setting is appealing. (I take canon suggestions, too!) I’m trying to reclaim HP for myself, I have a constant low-grade love of Narnia, and there’s a couple of 1980s movies (The Breakfast Club, St. Elmo’s Fire) that I got sucked into thanks to Yuletide.

How did you first get into fandom? Too long ago to remember, tbh. I’ve always loved reading and I used to draw quite a bit, so fandom was a pretty natural thing to get into for someone with a lot of time on early-aughts internet.

How long have you been engaging in fandom spaces? Since the early aughts! But with breaks, based on busy periods in education and career.

How often do you read fanfic? Ideally, a few times a week, in the form of short fic. In reality, I have a lot of difficulty finding the sort of fic I want to read and don’t always hit that goal. Shoutout to everyone writing for my rare fandoms, you’re the best! <3 I just wish there were a few more of us, ha.

Top three characters from your current fandom? I’m Officially Multifannish™ and thus refuse the precept of a singular current fandom. Three characters who currently have my attention are Clive Durham from Maurice, Edmund Pevensie from Narnia, and Edward Loman from The Fifth Form at St. Dominic’s.

The King’s Labyrinth

Synopsis: Being the notorious trickster that he is, the King uses a film you’ve recently watched with the gods as inspiration for his latest entertainment. It doesn’t help that Leon looks like the Goblin King… Putting the thirteen of you in the Labyrinth, it only takes a little mind persuasion to get everyone to cooperate.

A/n: Okay, this idea, but more in depth. More dramatic! Because the King wouldn’t settle for less. This trickster is my soulmate, by all means. He’s going all out. He IS making Leon the goblin King. And who’re the goblins? The other gods. Who’s helping you through the labyrinth? We have Ichthys(a mischievous shape shifter) and then we have Dui and Shadow Dui(who are two separate people that can never agree with each other. “One of us always lies and one of us always tells the truth.”). And finally, we have Aigo, a sleepy faun who really shouldn’t be much help.  That’s all I have as far as a draft goes. I’m breaking this up into chapters because I have IDEAS that are slowly building. I rarely do chapter stories. Let me get away with it just this once. 🙏🏻☺️ I’ll also cross-post on AO3 because I don’t do that enough…

Chapter 1: Leon, the Goblin King

“Perfect,” I muttered, a grin on my face. “Perfect, perfect. This is just a blessing that I’ve created upon this Earth.” Despite the big grin I wore, I added, “He’s gonna hate me… I’m printing him a picture!”

Aigonorus watched as I rushed excitedly around my room, his eyebrows furrowing. “What did you do…?” 

“A wonderful question,” I beamed at him, turning around with my ipad in my hands to face him. “I’ve drawn the most beautiful picture of Leo and the rest of you. It’s my biggest accomplishment as an artist. I deserve the highest praise for my top-tier work. I’m so underrated!” I shoved my ipad closer to his face so he could see it from where his head poked out from under the blankets. He stared at it for the longest and most silent time. Sighing… I relented, “I’m a joke.”

His eyes shifted back up to me as he admitted, “I might be too sleepy… but I don’t know what I’m looking at.” He rubbed his eyes with his fist before looking back at the digital drawing. He could recognize it as the scene in the throne room where the Goblin King was holding the baby. He supposed it did look like Leon in there. But the goblins looked pretty funny to him. 

I pulled my ipad back, throwing myself back onto the bed beside him. “It’s supposed to be Leon and the rest of you looking like goblins! You’re there at the bottom laying on the floor. If you were a goblin, I bet you’d use Leo’s boot as a pillow.”

I felt accomplished at hearing a chuckle leave Aigonorus’s lips. He turned over, wrapping his arms around my torso as he pulled me closer to him, leaning his head against my shoulder, his nose nuzzling into my neck. “If I were a goblin… I’d still want to use you as a pillow. You smell better than a boot.”

Putting my ipad on my nightstand, I hugged Aigonorus, nuzzling into his hair in return. “Well, thanks. I’m glad I don’t smell like a boot. That’ll make it easier to sleep, won’t it?” He hummed in agreement and my head fell back onto my pillow. “G’night, Aigo.”

“(Name) (Last name).” 

I groaned, turning onto my side, hoping that Aigonorus would let me sleep longer with him.

“(Name) (Last Name).”

Wait… Where was Aigo? I turned over onto my stomach, not finding him next to me.

“Wake up.”

I muttered, “Five more minutes…” I wasn’t ready to get up. What was the rush? I wanted Aigonorus to wrap me up in the warm blankets again. Where was he? I peeked my eyes open, scanning my surroundings slowly before shooting up onto my knees in a sitting position. I quickly wiped the sleep out of my eyes, my gaze falling onto a glimmering ethereal figure before me. My mouth was open slightly as I scanned the figure up and down before breathlessly asking, “Your Highness?” Was I in the throne room? Was I sleeping in the throne room? I prayed to every god I knew that I didn’t use the King’s boots as a pillow.

“I’ve called you here because I require your assistance.” 

He watched me amusedly as I scrambled to get to my feet. I was sure Zyglavis would have my head if he knew I was lying around on the floor in the King’s presence. “I… Uh… I can help?” 

The King’s face relaxed back into a smile, though, even I could sense the ulterior motives behind the smile. He then requested, “I’d like to see that drawing you’ve made of the gods.”

Just as when I first found myself at his feet, I was speechless and wasn’t sure what to do for a brief moment before I found my ipad hovering in the air beside me. I flinched finding it so close beside my head, but this made me sure that he was being completely serious. Okay, now I was certain Zyglavis would kill me for feeding the King human entertainment rubbish. Hesitantly, I grabbed my ipad, searching for the awkward drawing that I’d made as a joke. Quietly, I prayed, “Please, tell me there’s more required than this embarrassing drawing…” Refusing to meet his gaze, I surrendered my ipad over to him.

He didn’t take it. Rather, he stared at the image from where he was sitting and my heart raced in anxiety. Was his smile growing? Did he look even more entertained than he did two minutes ago?! I was going to be murdered by the gods, my fate was sealed. 

“Yes,” he finally spoke, his eyes returning to me. “You’re going to be the most important piece. Here.” He snapped his fingers, a ring shimmering in the air before me. It looked like a normal, average band of silver; but I knew better. “You’re going to wear this for me. So long as you do, it will make things much simpler… and far more painless.” 

I glanced between the ring and the King just long enough to stall for time before I hesitantly took it between my fingers. There were odd engravings on it, but nothing I could recognize. Pursing my lips together, I dared to argue, “Your Highness, I don’t think the gods are going to like whatever you have planned.”

Oh, yeah… Now he was smirking, making me internally groan. “Fortunately,” He drawled, “You will not defy me.” I shook my head, silently agreeing with him as I slipped the ring onto my finger. “I’ll reward an obedient human for doing well in my Labyrinth.”

“Labyrinth?” My eyes widened. Now I had an idea of what he was doing but I couldn’t say anything to stop it. He had already snapped his fingers, my vision fading. 

“Should the ring be removed…” He paused cryptically. “Well, I would enjoy seeing the results far more than you…”

“(Name),” I flinched as my name was called, turning my attention to the intruding god that wasn’t supposed to be in my apartment. But Partheno looked amused that he startled me. “You’re jumpy today, aren’t you? What’s that lovely new ring you’ve got there?”

“What are you doing here?” I asked, pulling the headphones off of my head as I glared at him. 

He grinned as if he were proud of himself. “I’m here to visit you, of course. Things seem quiet in the Heavens for some reason… I had no reason not to come see my favorite human. Don’t you feel blessed?”

“I’d feel blessed if it weren’t a demon visiting me,” I shot back, turning away from him. Though, for some reason, his words resonated with me. Ever since I woke up, I felt something was missing… 

“Hey,” He called out, offended that I had just verbally lashed out at him. “There’s no need to be like that. I’m a god now, remember? Besides, I came to return something I found…” 

He trailed off, and I spun around to see what he could’ve stolen from me. “You- You took- Partheno, give him back!” My eyes were glued to the little stuffed goat in his arms. It was clearly mine, but I couldn’t recall where I got it from. All I knew was that it was important to me. “Give Nashira back!” 

I lunged for it, but all Partheno did was hold it higher, just out of reach. Before I could shout at him again, he offered, “What if I traded it for a kiss?”

I hissed in response, “Why would I kiss someone who’s so mean to me? Give Nashira back and go away!” My hands pressed into his chest, trying to usher him out of my room and toward the living room door as I simultaneously grabbed for my stuffed goat. 

It wasn’t that I didn’t like Partheno. I loved him as much as… as much as…

My brain refused to finish that sentence. For some reason, the thought escaped me. Regardless, I was trying to get rid of an annoyance. Partheno needed to visit me when I wasn’t feeling on edge and when he wasn’t returning a stolen item!

Still, Partheno refused to be shoved out of my door so easily. “My love is clearly having a mood swing today. I should stay to rectify her mood.” Smirking, he lowered the stuffed toy, not surprised when I aggressively snatched it from his hand. 

I rolled my eyes, turning on my heel as I retreated to my room. “I wish you would just…” I trailed off, my thoughts pausing again. But this time, my mind wasn’t blank with missing information. My mind provided me with just the right words to say. Only… it was ridiculous. “Seriously? To a god?” I glanced back at where Partheno was hopefully standing in my living room. Seeing that stupid love-struck look on his face, I hissed, “I wish the goblins would come and take you away, right now!”

Partheno looked surprised at what I’d just said, but I didn’t stay around long enough to hear his reaction. I stormed into my room, setting my stuffed goat back onto my bed and patting its head as though comforting it for its traumatic experience. I stayed there for a moment, anticipating that he would follow me, teasing me for what I’d shouted at him. But… the living room was silent. Turning around, it also appeared that the living room was dark. I glanced around my room as if waiting for Partheno to jump out and scare me. But the scampering I heard through the living room made my heart race. 

My hands shook as I stepped out of my room. If there was any time for Partheno to jump out and scare me, it was now as I was walking through the dark living room. But a thud made me anxiously turn around and find that the light in my room had gone out as well. “P- Partheno…?” The only light I could see was the light that was streaming through the windows from the moon outside. It only made things appear eerier as I could swear the shadows were moving around my space. “Partheno, that’s not funny. Where are you?”

My balcony doors bursting open made me screech in fear. The only logical thing to come to mind was that I forgot to lock the doors—that made it reasonable for the wind to blow them open. Rushing over to close them, I was forced to turn as I heard my chairs being shoved around the kitchen floor. “Partheno!” My hands shook as I backed from the kitchen. There was no way my words actually did anything, right? Partheno was a god… no one stole him away.

Turning back to address my open balcony, a firm chest muffled my pained groan. I prayed it was Partheno, but my heart jumped to my throat when I saw a face that looked too familiar to be ironic. My jaw dropped slightly as I frantically put space between us. “You… You’re the Goblin King…” Did he actually take Partheno?! “Please, I- I didn’t mean it. Please, give him back. I didn’t think he’d actually be taken. Where is he?” 

Leon tilted his head, less amused with my begging than he was with how I crashed into his chest. “You knew very well what you were saying. I granted your wish and you will never have to deal with him again. You know where I took him. You should be much more grateful.”

“I know you were just doing your job,” I acknowledged, but I still couldn’t let him get away with stealing Partheno. “But please, give him back.” 

“Return to your room,” he tried again, knowing very well that I would go against his wishes. “You have your toy. You’ll not be bothered again. Forget about the god.”

I pursed my lips together. Sure, Leon intimidated me… his presence was powerful. But I had to deny him. “I can’t. I made a mistake…” 

He hummed, silently agreeing with me. I wouldn’t have to be challenging him if I’d been more careful with my wishes. Still, he would not return the god no matter how much I pleaded with him. More than anything, he wanted to see if I’d continue to squirm and struggle. Curiously, he offered, “I’ll grant another wish of yours.” Snapping his fingers, another crystal orb appeared between his fingers. “Here, we can peer into all of your most precious dreams and grant anything you desire.” Glancing back to meet my curious gaze, he asked, “Do you want this? You need only give in.”

I quickly shook my head, trying to brush off whatever he was trying to bribe me with. I could tell he was only doing this for my best interest, but this entire thing was a mistake that I didn’t mean. “No, please,” I tried again. “I’m sorry I made that wish. I take it back! I understand what you’re trying to do for me and I appreciate it but I really didn’t mean to-”

“Oh-ho?” He interrupted, his head tilting, as he paced around me like a predator. “What’s said is said. I will not repeat myself. That god belongs to me now.” Waving his hand, a pale pink glass orb appeared on the tips of his fingers. Within the orb, my eyes widened as I saw Partheno. He looked lost… 

A wave of guilt hit me and I immediately reached for the orb, only to have it be pulled away from me, being held just above Leon’s head. “Wait!” 

I looked desperately up at Leon, but he didn’t look like he was going to be too merciful and hand over the orb. Instead, he looked peeved that I’d lunged at him. “Don’t challenge me,” he dispassionately glared at me as the orb vanished from his hand. “You’re no match for my power.”

That glare was enough to make me feel foolish for attempting to get Partheno back like that. Timidly, I asked, “Where is he?”

“Where do you think?” Turning to look behind him, Leon pointed outside of my balcony doors, showcasing an entire labyrinth with a castle at its center. “He’s in my castle, where he will stay. Well away from you.”

Staring at the scenery in awe, I whispered under my breath, “The castle beyond the goblin city…” Steeling myself, I decisively said, “I have to go there.” My eyes were glued to the castle in the distance. It looked too far away… but I had to get him back from the Goblin King.

Leon lifted an eyebrow as he witnessed my determination. “You still want to try to get him back?” He couldn’t admit how much he loved to see that look in my eyes. “You would go against my wishes to get that fool back? I advise against defying me, (Name).”

“I don’t have a choice,” I lamented, trying to gauge the distance between me and Partheno. “I’ll go to the castle beyond the goblin city… and I’ll get him back.” I wasn’t sure what kind of look Leon was giving me, but for the moment, I didn’t care. I was determined to find Partheno without his help. 

Seeing my powerful will, Leon smirked, deciding to turn this into a game. “Very well… I’ll return the god to you.” He liked how my eyes shot to him full of childish hope. “You’ll have thirteen hours to solve the labyrinth and find that god in my castle. Do that… and I’ll consider being merciful.” Seeing my new dead-set energy, he shook his head. “What a shame you had to pick the hard way…”

Snapping his fingers, not only did he vanish, but the surrounding room transformed until all that surrounded me was the barren landscape outside of the labyrinth as well as the immense walls that would take me into the maze. “Hm… Alright. Time to find my way to Partheno!”

new fic page + fandom statistics

continuing on my quest to make my blog generally more accessible and generally better all round, I’ve updated the page where you can find all the fics I’ve written. it has filters so you can sort by pairing, rating, and genre, and is infinitely more readable than my last one!

it’s also allowed me to do some ~fun fandom fic statistics~ which my autistic self loves! I’ve put them below the cut because they’re dull.

Pairings

I’ve written 22 fics about Clarkson, Hammond and May, but for the purposes of these statistics I’m excluding my dribble/drouble/drabble roundup fic because I can’t be bothered including those 12 or so little ficlets. So, of the 21 fics:

Je/R was the first pairing I wrote

it was obviously my favourite for a while, because 10 of the 21 fics are Je/R

7 are J/J

3 are OT3

1 is Ja/R

I find this interesting—I like reading all pairings equally, and in theory like the idea of writing all pairings, but clearly I find myself drawn overwhelmingly to Je/R and J/J. I adore OT3 but find it tricky to write, and I also enjoy Ja/R but it doesn’t come as easily to me as anything with Jeremy in, so that’s why I think I’ve neglected it up until now.

This compares interestingly to the fandom overall, where the most popular pairing differs by platform! I’m just focusing on the main four pairings here (sorry Andy, Stig, and others D:) in order to more easily compare to my own writing.

On dreamwidth (which includes aggregate posts from the old LJ comm):

Ja/R leads with 1,551

J/J comes second with 1,455

OT3 is third with 1,109

Je/R is last! with 1,003

On ao3 under the Top Gear (UK) RPF tag:

J/J is first with 746 fics

Ja/R is second with 540 fics

OT3 is third with 442

Je/R is last again with 396

It’s fascinating to me that clearly the LJ comm was the place for fics, even though ao3 has been around since 2007. Although in saying that I believe it only really started to get popular from 2010 onwards (the first thing I ever posted on there was in 2013, a since-orphaned, really bad James Bond/Raoul Silva fic that I wrote when I was 16 LOL) and I know the comm has been active at least back to 2008.

Lastly, on ao3 under The Grand Tour (TV) RPF tag:

J/J is first with 200 fics

Je/R is second with 146

Ja/R is third with 125

OT3 is last (just!) with 124

Obviously we can’t take these numbers as being set in stone because fics may have multiple pairings and thus multiple tags (and I know most people tag both fandoms on ao3, which doubles up the numbers), but they do give us a good idea. What’s consistent about all three platforms is that J/J is at the top or very near the top (this doesn’t surprise me; anecdotally I always thought it was the most popular pairing) and OT3 is at the bottom or near the bottom. It’s also interesting to me that in recent years Je/R seems to have leapt in popularity, and I wonder why. Were there a bunch of primarily Ja/R writers back in the day who have since left fandom?

Moving on to...

Ratings

When it comes to my fics (and keep in mind I’m using the Australian rating system of G/PG/M/MA/R here) it’s not an exact science and I’m not very good at rating but I’ve done my best:

9 are G/PG (maybe a little smooching)

3 are M (perhaps some over-the-clothes action, or more mature themes)

1 is MA (slightly smutty without being explicit)

7 are R (smut)

I’m surprised at this, because I didn’t realise I’ve written that much smut. Of those rated R fics, though, 3 are Je/R, 2 are OT3, one is J/J and one is Ja/R. So I’m at least a somewhat equal opportunity porn provider.

To make it confusing, both ao3 and the DW comm use different rating systems to each other and to me (the DW one I think is the american system and is thus incomprehensible to me, and ao3’s has always seemed vague), but let’s look at them anyway:

I find it interesting that these numbers don’t correspond to the amount of fics with pairings that are listed in the comm, meaning I guess a lot of fics on there aren’t tagged with their ratings. I’m thus not too sure about the accuracy of these numbers—but regardless, of what’s tagged, the people want smut it seems! LOL

General Audiences - 618 uses - 3rd

Teen & Up Audiences - 736 uses - 1st

I find it interesting that Mature is as unpopular as it is, but otherwise, I’m not too sure what else to glean from these statistics. Moving on to my final data point...

Genres

This was nearly impossible for me to quantify because I am good at tagging my fics but a lot of the tags I use are quite specific (“First Time”, “Episode Related”) so I find it hard to fit my fic into the commonly-accepted overarching ‘genres’ of fic: fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, and smut are the four that first come to mind. A lot of my fics ended up being fluff, a few smut, one or two angsty, but there are more than a few that I left untagged completely when it comes to genre because they’re kind of nothing! If anything they were maybe fluffy, but fluff to me implies tooth-rottingly sweet and these pieces didn’t really scream that to me.

smut (everything rated R basically): 7 fics

fluff: 6 fics

untagged: 5 fics

angst (but it’s weak angst by my standards, ‘minor conflict’ or ‘morose pining’ would probably be a better tag, LOL): 4 fics

double tagged (fluff/smut, smut/pwp x2, angst/smut): 4 fics

porn without plot: 2 fics

alternate universe: 1 fic

Let’s look at dreamwidth first. It has a lot of tags, which is excellent for my purposes! I haven’t included all of them; I limited myself to the top 7, an arbitrary number just cuz.

alternate universe: 428 uses

humour: 317 uses

fluff: 159 uses

gen: 150 uses

dribble/drouble/drabble: 144 uses

established relationship: 138 uses

angst: 111 uses

I suspect we’re looking at the same issue we had when examining the ratings (where people in the past have tagged their fic with the pairing but nothing else). I also suspect AU leads the pack because there’s no corresponding ‘not AU’ tag, but in all honesty I’m surprised by those numbers. Keep in mind, though, I don’t really read AU fic and don’t tend to write it (with one exception) so of course that would surprise me LOL. Humour is kinda a given with these boys, and I’m not surprised fluff is up there either. Now onto ao3!

The addition of ‘Not Beta Read’ made me lol because I can identify with it a lot, but I didn’t expect it to show up in the tags! Hey, if anyone needs a beta, let me know—I love doing that shit. :D

But let’s not get bogged down with ‘oo didn’t beta ‘oo, I find the fact that RPF is on both lists to be interesting because I’ve never bothered tagging for RPF (especially as it’s already in the fandom tag). I guess it’s polite to, I just hadn’t thought of doing it! Otherwise, unlike dreamwidth, the denizens of ao3 largely seem to shun AUs (it does not appear on the list of tags at all for Top Gear (UK) RPF, and appears last in the list for The Grand Tour (TV) RPF), but we can see that fluff is right up there just like in the comm.

Conclusions

I found it interesting how the tastes of the fandom mirrored or differed to my own when it came to my writing. I found the pairing breakdowns especially fascinating with how they seem to have changed over time!

More personally, looking at my back catalogue, I truly think that anything written pre-2017 (published before of sunlight and smoke; I had my fics on a pseud of one of my kpop accounts before I deleted them all and reuploaded them on my current ao3 account which is why the dates are all a bit shonky) is a bit shit. The titles are meh, the descriptions all end in ellipses, and I just don’t think the writing is all that good.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing egregiously wrong with them. They’re just not particularly memorable; they don’t have strong plots or story beats and most were written as prompt fills. There is NOTHING wrong with prompt fills—I still love writing prompt fills—but a lot were written to fulfill a purpose (fill the prompt) and as such I didn’t have complete creative control and didn’t desire to expand on them any more than I had to. And I’m not saying my most recent works have groundbreaking premises either, but at least I can read through them and not cringe, LOL!

Anyway, if you’ve read this far, feel free to expand upon these stats yourself! I’d love to see how your writing compares, or see your own hypotheses about why the pairings have shifted so much in popularity over time!

Hello, I'm once again asking you about your OCs because I'm curious! I hope that's okay? Who are Iphi and Jack? I love the first one's name. And if I remember right Jack is aro? That's neat, I haven't really seen a lot of aro characters before! /pos

Thank you for the ask!!! Sorry this is pretty late btw, I haven’t had time to answer it lol

(That’s Iphi on the left, Jack on the right. First is a picrew, second isn’t my art but like. I haven’t drawn Jack yet so that’s kinda their ref for now)

But it is rant time!! Imma start with Iphi! Because I kinda need to explain her to give context for Jack’s lore. 

So Iphi is the god of sacrifice in this little fantasy world I made, Kunyang! She’s a pretty old god, a couple of thousand years old, but she’s still the second youngest one lol.

In Kunyang, gods are born when they sprout from the seeds of the god tree. The god tree is in the divine realm, which is a different realm entirely from the physical realm, but very rarely, a god seed can arrive in the physical realm.

Anyways, this seed fell into the hands of a very magically powerful person. They had magic potential that could honestly rival a god- and yeah, they believed they were destined for great things because of it. So, they were determined to be the person who caused the god seed to sprout.

So in Kunyang, there was once this library called the Archives, run by the god of knowledge himself, Ephius. This person went to Ephius, and they were told that the seed was for the god of sacrifice. Ephius told the person that to sprout a god seed, they’d need sacrifices from thousands of people. This person wanted to do it, all by themself.

And so, they sacrificed everything. Family, friends, fortune, and fame. All gone, in the hopes of making a legacy. The seed did not sprout, because it wasn’t enough. So this person decided that they would need to make a very big sacrifice, one big enough to make the seed sprout.

They decided to banish the Archives from the physical realm into the divine realm, sacrificing humanity’s access to the library of all knowledge. And that was indeed a big enough sacrifice to give birth to a new god!

And that’s how Iphi was created. But the thing is- that’s really not how you’re supposed to create a god. So she was kind of corrupted from birth. This corruption prevented her from having a lot of character traits that one might consider important to being human.

Iphi does not feel happiness, or satisfaction. No sorrow or regret. Nothing of that sort. But she is working towards a goal: and that is creating a legacy. Having an effect on the world. (Her only contributor to her creation imprinted heavily on her.)

And because of that, she is very active in all manners of sacrifice. Every day, she’s constantly getting people to make sacrifices to her, amassing followers in many different lands. This also increases her powers heavily.

The way her powers work, they’re kinda like payment based. She gets someone to sacrifice something for her, and she can create something else of equal value to that something. (The more important that something was to the person who sacrificed it, the more she can create and do.) Like, she could make a giant wall of fire, or acid rain, or bury a country in gold if she had enough magic. Which she absolutely does. But she mostly saves the magic potential she receives for later.

And also, Iphi doesn’t truly care about anything other than making a mark on the world. She doesn’t mind if people die or suffer because her sacrifices took something too important- if anything, she wants to do that, because it’s quite a way of making your mark on the world.

Oh, and I gotta add- she can’t do this all without a little help! And that’s where Jack comes in.

They’re also a couple thousand years old, but quite younger than Iphi. So they used to be a court jester. Mortal and everything. They should have had a life of a normal length, be just another person in the world, but then they fell in love with Iphi.

And yeah they’re aromantic! It’s not romantic love, it’s alterous love. But yeah they felt a deep emotional attraction, and they wanted to be in a relationship (not a romantic or platonic one though). Anyways, Iphi doesn’t feel the same way. She doesn’t love Jack. But she thought it was convenient to have someone in love with her, and to keep them around, so she offered Jack a sacrifice.

She’d give them eternity, and they would be her servant.

Jack honestly didn’t want to do that at first, but then they had a near-death experience, and agreed to her terms.

So Iphi took their physical body, and also their independence.

Because it would be inconvenient if her servant got bored or wanted to take back the sacrifice. So Jack quite literally cannot think unless she wills it. They’re barely conscious until Iphi needs them, and only then can they think again.

Jack isn’t even aware this happens. To them, it feels like they just woke up, or they just simply forgot what happened during that time

Iphi also messed with Jack’s mind a bit, to amplify their devotion. And yeah, Jack is completely, utterly devoted to her. They would die for her, they’d be tortured for her, they would kill for her too. Nothing is off the table. They’d do anything she says. And they truly love her.

Jack mostly stays in the divine realm, usually, until Iphi sends them to the physical realm to do something for her. That something is usually extorting people to get more sacrifices. Jack pretty much curses people, and then offers to remove that curse in exchange for a sacrifice. (That’s how Janessa got cursed, actually [have I talked about her?] but Jack forgot they cursed her lmao.)

Anywayssss there is some more lore, but this is pretty fucking long already lmao so Imma just end this here. Unless you’d like to hear more!!

I honestly don’t care if Jensen and Misha have never actually seen each other naked (I don’t believe that to be true, but if I were to be proven wrong somehow, I’d accept it)… what keeps me in the cockles dumpster is their complete devotion to each other. They love each other deeply, and respect each other, support each other, develop each other in sooo many ways that so few ever get to experience, and I just think that love is beautiful 💙💚

Sometimes I wonder if we (as a fandom) have over-analysed scenes to the point that we’ve forgotten what we were actually watching.

Most of our favourite parts of Supernatural, the mothership as it were, are our favourite bits because they’ve been analysed and broken apart and put back together so many times that we can create this bigger picture that is further moulded by our own headcanons and fic plots and playlists. And that’s what makes Supernatural great.

I’ve seen a lot of #thoughts on The Winchesters now that the pilot is out, and I know that not everyone thinks it was a winner - the jokes were cheesy, the CGI looked terrible, it didn’t feel right, whatever else - but I’d argue that’s because it’s being compared to the Supernatural in our heads, not the Supernatural that aired on television.

I’ve said it before and I still believe it with my whole heart… Supernatural should just be a mediocre watch and forget network television show, but it’s not because of the passion of the people it sweeps up under it’s spell and the little bit of extra magic each and every person who gives it a little love sprinkles on top. This new passion project just needs the same magic.

My #1 post of 2022

Something that fully healthy people don't really seem to understand about chronic health issues is what running on an energy deficit is like long-term.  It's more exhausting than you can possibly imagine if you haven't experienced it.

How does that work? Well, it's sort of like this. Everybody has a certain amount of energy.  When you're healthy and well-rested, you feel pretty good.  There are artificial boosters that give you more energy, too.  You can do all sorts of stuff.

When you get tired, you can still do some stuff but you can't do as much and what you can do might suffer from lack of energy. Except that's essentially your every day existence with chronic health issues.  You go to sleep tired, and wake up tired--sometimes more tired!

Your energy levels rarely reach "full"--that is, there's few points where you are in a "well rested" state where you feel pretty good and have "normal" levels of energy.  You're *always* operating in "low battery" mode rather than being fully charged, and you drain *fast*.

This makes doing basic tasks much harder than need be--things that drain a little energy you notice a hell of a lot more when you're already dead tired than when you're well-rested.  Like how when your phone drops from 10% to 9% you notice more than from 100% to 99%.

You can do some stuff--but you have an upper limit of what you can do that's a lot lower than other people. And functioning while running against a deficit at all times means a *lot* of careful, conservative planning to husband your strength for when you need it most.

It means sometimes spending 30 minutes deliberating what you should buy when you reach the store because you're trying to guess "will I have the energy to prepare this food after shopping?  Will I later this week?"  You hedge your bets when you can.

It means skipping out on a lot of stuff you'd otherwise love to do because you just can't be sure you'll have the energy to do it without landing yourself in bed for the next 3 days by pushing yourself to collapse. It's depressing. And it's exhausting.

EDIT: This post is for people with physical AND mental health causes for their fatigue and exhaustion, by the way!
