hey i just saw your post about the knee pads and i was at my first excavation site this summer (which was mostly a training thing from university) and the teacher who lead the excavation always yelled at us when we forgot to wear our knee pads. and he went on and on about how bad our knees will be if we dont use knee pads. and i guess after this summer i wont forgot them ever again.

Good for him! You only get one set of knees. Make sure yours last as long as possible.

Y/N is startled when the door opens with a bang and her wide eyes stray to the wall clock.

Ram is early today.

He wasn’t supposed to be home for another hour.

She stands up and wipes her tears hastily with her pallu.

“Y/N?” Ram’s loud voice echoes in the house.

Oh god.

Sniffling, she wraps her saree pallu around herself in a way that hides the bruises on her right arm.

If Ram gets a glimpse of them…

She has no idea what he’ll do.

Taking in a shaky breath, she tries to get a hold of her emotions. She doesn’t want Ram to know what happened.

Composing herself, she walks out of the room and finds him in the verandah, his back to her as he rolls the sleeves of his shirt.

The sound of her anklets chiming gets his attention and he turns toward her, still busy with his left sleeve.

“Y/N, could you bring me a- ” Ram looks up and his voice dies in his throat when his gaze lands on her.

Something doesn't feel right.

Eyes down, head bent, shoulders cowering- this is not his wife, his Y/N. The sweet smile that she always greets him with when he returns home is nowhere to be seen. And he doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like her hiding herself from him.

Ram immediately walks over to her, his brown eyes anxiously scanning her body.

“Jaan?” His voice is a gentle whisper. “What’s wrong?”

Her chest constricts in pain at the soft tone he only uses with her. He’s so soft and caring towards her. Always treating her as his most precious treasure.

An involuntary sob escapes her which is enough to throw him in panic.

He cups her cheeks in his hands. “Y/N? Love, you’re scaring me now. What is it? Tell me.” He urges.

She finally looks up at him and it physically hurts Ram to look at her teary eyes.

He gently tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, wanting nothing more than to find the reason behind her tears. He impatiently waits for her to speak even though it kills him to see her like this. And that’s when he notices the small cut on her forehead.

“How did this happen?” Ram frowns, placing a hand on her arm and she flinches. Ram pulls back his hand in surprise. Brows creased in confusion, he watches as Y/N slides the pallu and lets it fall back.

His lips part in shock at the visible bruises on her arm. “Wha-“ He stops, unable to comprehend for a moment.

Y/N lets out another loud sob and buries her head in his chest, clutching his shirt in fists. Ram wraps his arms around her in a daze. It doesn’t take him long to join the dots.

His face turns hard as he clenches his jaw. “Did someone hurt you?”

Y/N closes her eyes and nods against his chest, letting a few more tears fall down her cheeks and on his white shirt.

Swallowing hard, he pulls back, only enough to look into her eyes. “Who?”

When she doesn’t answer, he pulls her closer, his voice shaking with barely suppressed anger. “Who did this, Y/N?”

Y/N knows he won't calm down until he knows.

"It was Raghu. I... I was shopping for some groceries when he came out of nowhere and started verbally attacking me because you arrested his brother. I told him it was his brother's fault." She sniffles. "But he said... he said that I have no right to say anything because I'm a traitor's wife. A monster's wife. I was so upset that I yelled at him and he grabbed my arm and pushed me. Thankfully, Bheem was there. He brought me home safe. I just- I hate it when people think so wrong of you. You don't deserve any of this, Ram."

She breaks down again and Ram pulls her into his arms, closing his eyes in pain.

Rage boils inside him. This is the last thing he wanted. He never gave a damn about what others thought of him. But he will never let anyone disrespect his wife. Ever.

Y/N is the purest thing in Ram's world. She's the only reason he still believes there's still good in this world.

And she got hurt. While she was defending him.

What did he ever do to deserve her?

That fucking piece of shit Raghu is going to regret even touching Y/N.

But Ram has one important thing to do before that.

He pulls back and takes her injured arm in his hands, being extremely careful.

"Does it hurt?"

Y/N shakes her head. "Not really. It's just a dull ache."

He makes her sit on a chair and applies some herbs on her bruises. The flinch that she so desperately tries to control doesn't go unnoticed by him.

He tries his best to not let his anger show. He doesn't want to scare her even more. Though he doesn't need to. Y/N knows he will never hurt her.

When he's done, he pulls her upright. "Come."

She's confused. "Where?" But one look at him and she knows what he's thinking. "Ram, I don't think this is a good idea- "

"Do you trust me?" He asks, looking in her eyes.

Y/N nods without any hesitation.

"Good." Ram kisses her forehead and holds her hand. He leads her towards the main door and they have only stepped out of the house when they spot Raghu with his friends.

"Oh, look. This bitch-"

Raghu doesn't get to complete his sentence as Ram closes the distance between them in a millisecond and punches him. Hard.

"Say another word about her. I dare you." The venom in Ram's voice sends shivers down Y/N's spine.

Raghu hasn't recovered from the sudden punch and Ram doesn't give him the chance to do so either. Grabbing him by the throat, Ram pushes him against a wall and keeps punching him.

"Look in her direction again and I'll show you what a real monster is." Ram growls, shaking Raghu by the collar.

It doesn't look like he's gonna stop anytime soon and for some twisted reason Y/N doesn't want him to.

She lets Ram throw Raghu to the ground and kick him in the stomach as a crowd gathers around them. That's when she realizes that she needs to stop him before he ends up killing Raghu.

Ram kneels beside him. "This is what you get when you mess with my wife." He raises his fist again and Y/N finally decides to intervene.

“Ram.” She speaks softly. And he stops, just like that, his fist inches away from Raghu's face.

She places a hand on his shoulder and he stands up, stepping back and breathing heavily.

She tugs on his shirt. “Ram. Look at me.”

He turns toward her, his eyes searching her face for any discomfort.

She steps closer to him and cups his cheek.

He sighs, placing his hand on hers. “Are you okay, baby?”

Y/N nods.

“I’m so sorry.”

She shakes her head. “It’s not your fault, Ram. Don't blame yourself. Please."

As another sigh leaves his lips, she touches his forehead with hers. "You didn't have to do all this, you know."

His knuckles trace her cheek. "I promised to always love and protect you when I married you, didn't I?"

She smiles softly. "You did."

"And I'll always keep my promise." His lips press against her temple as she closes her eyes, sighing in content. "I'll always protect you."

generally nice but I was pretty drunk and it was with somebody who I knew didn’t like me as much as I liked them so it was a setup for disappointment

I can get shit done because I’m a great problem solver and I just do things, even if I’m not sure if I know how to do them but I’m willing to give it a go. I also think I’m pretty funny.
