Send 💀 for my muse to rescue yours from a high fall
"... Dare I ask, if you at last fell for me, Agent Romanov," he teased. Mildly stunned that he'd managed to catch her, as he wasn't quite sure if he'd gotten the angle correct. He was also trying to prepare himself for whatever physical assault she was likely to lay into him- mortal or no, her fists left surprisingly deep bruises.
He looked up toward the height she had fallen from. "Anyone left alive up there that needs to be extinguished?" he added, curiously. Though he was trying to do right and keep the blood off of his hands- if the Black Widow was in need of leaving anyone behind, it likely meant they were a particularly dangerous individual.

Out of My System Pt 5
Summary: Loki doesn’t understand Thor’s attraction to Midgardians. Until he meets you.
Pairing: Avenger Loki x F. Reader
Warnings: Smut. 18+ ONLY. Minors DNI.
W/C: 1.9K
See My Masterlist Here
The midnight pool party was all you could talk about. You decided to wear the tiny, red bikini you had only wore around the compound. And only in front of people you were extremely comfortable with. Nat bought a black one just like it, so you could match for the party. It helped you to feel less self conscious too.
Everyone who was anyone would be in attendance tonight, including Tony’s nephew Ben. You went on one date with him a few weeks ago, but it wasn’t anything serious. You still texted with him sometimes. It was mostly flirting, nothing too deep. He was attractive, but you couldn’t see yourself with him long term. Maybe that’s just what you needed right now, some fun.
You looked at yourself in the mirror, admiring how the small garment made you look. You fluff your hair one last time before walking down the hallway to meet up with Nat.
Loki’s mind hadn’t stopped racing since the kiss that almost was. He had made up a million different plans to seduce you. Each of them worse than the last. He wasn’t sure what was wrong with him. Under usual circumstances, he could get a woman out of her panties without so much as talking to her.
He just turned on the charm and they fell at his feet. But he had never seduced a mortal before, had never wanted to. He couldn’t figure out the hold you had on him. He knew Fiona was right. He was merely curious. Once he had you in his bed, the spell you had on him would be broken.
The music blared out of the speakers. Most of the guys were jumping into the pool. Steve was grilling by the side of the compound. You and Natasha were dirty dancing on everyone who came over to you. You were laughing and smiling so much, your cheeks hurt.
Loki watched as you danced with Ben Stark. You were wearing that red bathing suit that was often the subject of his fantasies. Loki wasn’t jealous. He just wished it was him you were dancing with instead.
The song changed and you ran over to Natasha, both of you screaming about the song choice. Nat sat in one of the lounge chairs. You crawled on top of her grinding against her in time with the music. The Ying Yang Twins was the artist playing. Loki recalled Lang introducing it to him months prior, so he would be familiar with Midgardian music. A classic, he had called it.
Loki couldn’t take his eyes off you. You made eye contact with him. He looked away too quickly, failing to hide that he was staring. He saw you say something to Natasha. You crawled out of her lap, and walked towards him.
“Hey Loki, can we talk for a minute?” He nodded, scooting over on his blanket to make room for you to sit beside him. “You’ve been weird with me since field day. I just wanted to know why.”
“I haven’t meant to behave strangely with you. I apologize.” He’s looking at the other party goers instead of you. “I thought you were going to kiss me.” That gets his attention. He whips his head toward you.
“I wanted you to. I replayed it over and over again in my head. I thought I misread the situation. It’s so hard to read you. I never know what’s on your mind. Tell me what you want, Loki.”
A sigh escapes him. He pushes a stray hair behind your ear. “I want you.” It seems like a weight has been lifted off him with that confession. You’re feeling more confident now. “Then have me. What’s stopping you?”
He leans in cupping your jaw, tilting your face toward his. His lips meet yours with more softness than you expected. You could tell he’s holding back. You deepen the kiss, climbing into his lap. Your hands travel the length of his back.
You pull him as close as you can. You’re the first to break the kiss. You sink your teeth into his neck. With a primal growl, he flips you over onto your back. He traps you with his bulky body. He nips your earlobe, his large hands covering your breasts.
You squirm underneath him trying to rub yourself against him, desperate for friction. He laughs wickedly, looking down at your trapped legs held captive by his own. You feel his hard length pressed against you. You slip your hands in his swimming trunks taking him between your eager hands.
You pump him once, twice. He says your name through gritted teeth wrapping his fingers around your wrist to stop you. “Slow down, love. We have all night.”
You find yourself in Loki’s apartment pinned to his door. Your wandering hands take in every inch of hardened muscle as he feverishly kisses you. “We shouldn’t do this.” Loki murmurs against your neck. You let out a shaky breath. He’s right, you shouldn’t but you don’t care. You’ll deal with the consequences later. Tonight all you want is him.
“My forbidden fantasy.” He whispers as he cups your breasts. His fingers slide under your bikini top finding your pebbled nipples. You arch into him. “Tell me to stop.” His voice is barely audible. It sounds almost like he’s begging you.
“I can’t, Loki. I want this so badly. I want you. Don’t you want this?” He continues tugging your nipples. “I want this more than my next breath. I’ll have you just this night.” He lifts you, carrying you to his bed. He places you gently on the satin sheets.
“Since this is all I get of you, if this is the only time we are together this way, I’m going to savor it. Every inch of you. Everything you have to offer.” He pulls on the flimsy fabric of your top. The material snaps in his powerful hand.
He lowers his head to your chest taking a hardened peak into his mouth. He settles between your legs, removing the rest of your bikini. He presses a soft kiss to your thigh. You are almost shaking with anticipation.
He dives right in, flattening his tongue against you. He fastens his lips around your clit gently sucking. Your hands tangle in his dark curls. You hold his head as if it’s the only thing keeping you here on Earth. You’re sure if you let go, you would float away.
He moves his hot muscle in quick flicks over your clit. One of his hands finds your chest, rolling a nipple between skilled fingers. The other is on your hip, his fingers digging into your skin. He swirls his tongue in a pattern that blurs your vision. You writhe against his face as you explode.
He looks up at you, his lips turned upward in a cocky grin. He’s never been more attractive than right now. Propped between your legs, his mouth covered in your arousal. “I need more.” He states with all the seriousness he can muster. He spreads your trembling thighs once more.
His tongue parts your swollen folds, gliding through you with ease. Loki is ravenous. He eats you like you’re the first meal he’s had in weeks. His face is pressed to you so closely, you’re not sure how he’s even breathing. You know he is from the moans coming from between your legs. He’s not satisfied until you come a second time.
He lays his head on your thighs letting you catch your breath. You play with the messy curls splayed against you. “I’m glad you don’t want to make this a regular thing. If we did this often, I would fall in love with you.” You’re joking, but there is a lot of truth to it. You laugh, but his expression changes as if he is really contemplating your words.
He places a tender kiss on the inside of your wrist. “I’m not capable of love, darling. But if I was…” He doesn’t finish his sentence, instead he lines himself up at your entrance, pushing into you slowly. You release the breath you didn’t know you were holding. He rocks into you with slow, deep thrusts. You buck against him, needing more.
“My needy girl, perhaps you would like this better.” You gasp as he suddenly flips you. His back is now the one against the mattress. You grind down on his lap. You decide to try something different, swaying forward and back. Loki watched intently.
“Sorry. This probably isn’t doing anything for you, is it?” You pause your movements waiting for his answer. “This is everything. I want you to take your pleasure from me.” He grips your hips, rocking you back and forth on his hard cock. The angle hits your g-spot, causing you to cry out his name. You grip his shoulders for support. He continues controlling your movements until you shatter once more.
Loki finds his place on top of you claiming you again. He handles you like you’re the most delicate, precious thing in the world to him. Like he’s afraid you will break with one wrong move. He slips his hand between you, his finger tracing your clit. He sinks into you deeper burying his face against your neck.
You claw at his back, moaning his name with each tilt of his hips. “Can you come for me once more, love?” You sigh. You’re so exhausted. You think another orgasm might kill you. “I don’t think I can, Loki.” His fingers move faster, in time with his thrusts. “Just one more. Will you try for me?” You confirm that you will. His next movement deliciously brushes your walls, hitting your sweet spot again.
You gasp his name with such longing, it makes his heart soar. You come apart at the same time losing yourselves in each other. He presses gentle kisses to your neck, caressing your cheeks with his thumbs. “That’s it, such a good girl for me.” Once you’ve both come down from your high, he takes his place beside you. You’re smiling so widely you’re sure you resemble a creepy clown.
He smiles back taking in your appearance. Your disheveled hair, the flush of your cheeks. He was sure you’d never been more beautiful. It was like Valhalla having you for the first time. It had never been like this. Then he realized what he feared most was true. Fiona was wrong. He would never get over this. He would never be able to get you out of his system.
You notice his smile falters. You interpret it as him wanting you to leave now that you were done. Even though it couldn’t be further from the truth. “So is this the part where you kick me out and tell me it was all a huge mistake? That you regret it and we can never talk about it again?”
Loki takes your hand in his, entwining your fingers. “I’ve made plenty mistakes in my life, but this is not one. I swear it. I could never regret this, regret you.” He looks at you with such vulnerability. You’d never seen him like this before.
You know he doesn’t actually mean it. He is the god of lies after all. It’s probably something he says to everyone he sleeps with, but it’s too late. His sweet words take root in the depths of your heart, even though they shouldn’t.
He wraps his arms around you, snuggling in to you. You close your eyes, enjoying being this close to him. If this is all you’ll ever have with him, you want it to last.
Loki knows he should let you go. He should leave you and go sleep on his couch, or throw you out like you had suggested. But that only makes him hold you tighter.

Cold winter days, a lonely woman on a bench, a stranger in the park...
An Encounter in Winter ❄️
Tumblr media
Loki and female reader (18+)
Chapter 8
Chapter 7
18+/adult themes/ talking/flirting/ slow burn/ fluff/angst/ smut
Warnings: smutty smut, oral (f and m receiving), unprotected sex (please be careful IRL), slight soft dom/sub vibes, fluff... I hope you enjoy!
"I don't want to be your…downfall, I want to be your ray of light," you both chuckled quietly and you smiled warmingly at him. The way you looked at him made Loki shiver. He felt so vulnerable. But he was so needy at the same time. He starved for your touches, your kisses, your breath fanning over his skin. He wanted to feel your hands and fingers caressing his body and your soft lips exploring every inch of him.
He was known for being dominant in the bedroom, he knew how to get it his way and how to satisfy his lovers. But with you, everything felt so different now.
Should he take you as he prefered to have sex with a woman? Should he dominate you, tie your hands up to the bed's headboard, make you cum again and again on his fingers, his tongue and his cock until you lie completely exhausted in his arms, himself satisfied and completely spent?
To take you this way felt wrong somehow tonight, your first night together should be special. He wanted to treat you right because he knew that your ex did not. He wanted to be your perfect lover. You deserved it. On some occasions, you had made a few remarks that you might like to be the submissive one but Loki didn't want you to be submissive. Not tonight.
He still covered his manhood with one of his large hands, his other hand now bashfully stroking through his long soft curls over his neck to his chest, a slight smile curving his mouth. Why did he feel shy in front of you? Never before had he had any problems being naked in front of a lover. He still gazed softly at your beautiful face, framed by your gorgeous hair. You were so close to him. Your scent enchanted him and he smelled your arousal…it didn't help him to relax a little bit.
What were you thinking of him? What did you expect from him now? Why did he feel so insecure to take the next step, to touch and to kiss you again, to wrap his arms around your naked body and to caress you with smooth fingers? What in hel's name was wrong with him. The impeccable Loki Laufeyson, the greatest lover the nine realms had ever seen, was shy and hesitant like a young inexperienced man. Pathetic. Surely you would laugh about him
But you were so special to him. You were like the finest porcelain, your warm heart and mindful soul were so precious to him. He didn't want to break any of it. He would never hurt you, neither your body nor your heart. Yes, he wanted you to be his and he wanted to be yours. He wanted to protect you, always and forever. He wanted someone who only belongs to him and him alone, someone who is there for him. Someone, he could give all of his love. The love he had hidden for such a long time deep inside of him. You were the first one in a long while who brought the feeling of love back to the surface.
And you were right. You were the ray of light that enlightened his darkness. But why did you want him? Why did you always look for his proximity, his affection? What did you see in him? He tried for so long to ignore how beautiful you were, your attractiveness and his growing feelings for you. But he never had a chance to fight against these feelings. You owned him from the first moment he met you. The way you gazed at him always filled him with warmth and later with desire too. And you were the only one who would be allowed to see him like this.
You cupped his cheek with your hand and he couldn't resist leaning into your touch.
"Loki, there's no need to hide from me. You're perfect to me. Let me look at you, let me see you. I really want you!"
You took his hand gently away from his manhood and made him put his hands on the small of your back. With your free hand, you stroked his abs, your fingers moving down to toy with his pubic hair before your hand cupped his balls and squeezed them gently. Loki's muscles tensed and a whimper escaped his mouth and you felt him getting harder.
"Does it feel good, Lo?"
"Yes, it…feels good," he moaned.
You pressed yourself against his heated body again, wrapped your arms around his neck and you began to kiss him gently, sucking his lower lip into your mouth, slightly biting and licking it and when he opened his mouth with a little gasp, he let your tongue play with his. Your taste was sweet and intoxicating, he wanted to kiss you like this forever, wanted to feel your arms wrapped around his neck, your hands stroking through his curls, touching him, squeezing him. He knew he wanted this every night, every day. He wanted you.
"I want you to feel comfortable, Lo. Please let us go to your bed," you whispered into his ear.
He followed your lead and hand in hand you two went over to his bed. He laid himself down into the soft cushions with you on top of him. He held you tightly in his arms and he still felt your lips on his mouth, his cheek and his neck. The tip of your tongue found his sensitive spot right under his ear and you licked that spot in small circles. He closed his eyes leisurely and felt how you sucked a hickey to his neck.
When you worked your way down his body he nearly forgot to breathe. He held his eyes closed so he could concentrate on the kisses, sucks and licks you peppered on his chest and his stomach and how your hands roamed tenderly over his arms and his torso, exploring every toned muscle, every little desirable inch of his body.
"Please don't do anything, Lo, please let me take care of you. I want to make you feel good," you whispered.
You kissed further down over his chiselled abdomen, his muscles flexing because of the indescribable wonderful gentle kisses and touches of yours. His hands gripped the bedsheets when his arousal grew. He couldn't remember if there ever was a lover who was so tender with him. And to be honest, he never allowed anyone to treat him like this. He never wanted to be weak or out of control. You were the first one he trusted enough to show his vulnerability and how touch-starved he was, how big his hunger for genuine love was. You were the only person he trusted enough to allow himself to lose control and let his guard down.
You reached his belly button and with your warm wet tongue, you drew lazy circles around it and pressed a kiss on it. Your mouth caressed his hip bones, following his prominent abdominal v-line, kissing up and down his happy trail and finally, you reached the base of his shaft.
He was so impossibly hard now, leaking pre-cum already and he wanted nothing more than to feel your warm mouth wrapped around his length…but he also wanted to soak up this moment. He wanted to enjoy the incredible tenderness you gave him to the fullest. You slowly licked his painfully hard cock, which now leaned proud against his stomach, from base to tip a few times, your hand fondling his balls, and then you wrapped your mouth around his aching length. Loki whimpered and when you took him in, a husky moan left his mouth. It felt like he had to combust.
"Oh Norns, snowflake, you feel so good, don't stop, my princess, don't stop, I need you." He was so desperate for you.
"I won't stop, my beautiful god," you answered after you took him out of your mouth for a short moment and gave him a loving gaze and a seducing smile.
You took him in again and bobbed your head up and down until you had found the perfect rhythm to please him. He felt his climax coming closer. With each circle of your tongue over and around his sensitive tip and sucking his cock longingly it became more difficult for him to hold back.
Your actions were so sinful and passionate. As much as he wanted it to last longer, it was just impossible. He shivered when he felt close to orgasm and his hands gripped the bedsheets more firmly. But you stopped and took him out of your mouth but continued to stroke his length slowly. He looked at you incredulously and sighed in disbelief.
"No, no princess, please…don't stop. I beg you, please don't stop," he panted.
"How do you want to cum, baby? In my mouth, through my hand or in my cunt? Just tell me what you need, Lo!" you murmured, feeling your own arousal pooling between your thighs.
You felt how close he was and you wanted him to cum so good that he would never forget the first night you spent together in intimacy and love.
"Please allow me to cum in your pretty mouth. I want to give you all of me, I want to feed you," he moaned, barely able to speak anymore.
"As you wish, my god." He was so adorable in this moment and you loved him even more.
He came so good, it nearly made him cry and he ejaculated in hot spurts into your mouth and you drank every drop of him, every drop he gave to you. You never tasted such delicious stuff. When you had licked him clean you gave his still half-hard cock a kiss and crawled up on him to kiss his pretty mouth again. He could taste himself on your lips and your tongue and it made him want to return the favour to you…he wanted to taste you down there too. With tender hands, he stroked your spine up and down. Your skin felt like velvet and silk. It has been a long time since he had someone so warm and soft tangled in his sheets and snuggled up in his arms.
He saw the little goosebumps he caused on your skin and he wanted to make you feel good too and so he rolled you carefully onto your back.
"Please spread your legs for me, my love. I want to see you."
Now it was on you to feel shy. But you knew he would be tender and careful so you did what he asked you to do.
He worked his way down your body, kissing your collarbones, gliding with his tongue down to your breast. He licked and sucked your nipples one after the other, his warm tongue twisted around your hardening nipples in slow and tender circles and he sucked them gently one by one and it made you dripping wet for him. Loki kissed all the way down to your pubic mound, his lips hot and wet. He couldn't take his eyes off of you, you were perfect to him, so damn pretty and perfect.
"You have no idea how beautiful you are…and so wet for me. You're glistening, my snowflake. Do you want to melt for me?" Loki cooed.
His voice was so deep and smooth that you bit onto your lower lip and whimpered in anticipation.
"Yes,...yes I want to melt for you, Lo," you whispered.
He lowered his head down to your soaked pussy, placed your legs over his shoulders, spread your folds wider and began to lick you softly. His hands, which were so big but careful, grabbed your hips and pressed you down to the mattress.
"Don't move, my love, let me pleasure you. Enjoy it, just let it happen."
He found your swollen pearl and sucked and licked it gently and his tongue circled expertly around your clit and down to your entrance. You hissed and sighed, lost in his tender actions. He was so incredibly careful and tender with you that you felt all warm and full of love for him. You never expected this tenderness of him. And you never have thought that you would be able to give yourself to a man again like this.
One of his hands found your breast and he let a thumb run over your erect nipple and which made you moan louder. He never stopped licking and sucking you when he inserted two fingers into your wet cunt. He curled his fingers up to find your sensitive spot inside of you while he finger-fucked you. He knew that he did it right because you squirmed and clenched under his touches and licks. He knew you were close.
"Lo…please…make me cum, it…you… feel so good," you begged him.
"Come for me princess, let go…I have you," he murmured between your legs and he felt you grabbing his curls firmly.
With a scream of relief, shivering legs and curled toes you came hard over his fingers and under his tongue. The orgasm he gave you didn't seem to end. He licked up your juices and guided you through your high, his blue eyes looking at you lovingly. How beautiful you were when you came undone for him. You were a sight to behold.
When you came down from your climax and your breath was nearly back to normal he climbed up your body to look at you again. You cupped his face and kissed him passionately and the taste of both of your juices mixed up on your lips and in your mouths. The taste was delicious.
Your bodies were tangled with each other, Loki didn't know anymore where his body ended and yours began. Hands roamed tenderly over shoulders, arms, spines, chests and cheeks. When his thumb rubbed over your plump lips, your hand traced over his veiny forearm up to his toned biceps and further upwards to his shoulder. You could touch him like this forever. Two pairs of eyes were lost in each other's gaze and sweet arousal still surrounded you, your desire for each other wasn't satisfied yet.
"Please allow me to make you mine completely, snowflake."
"Take me Lo. You're worth every sin," you whispered against his lips.
"You sweet temptress you. You want to ruin me, don't you?" he whispered against your ear before he pecked your lips softly.
You smiled at him seductively and pulled his head towards you so you could kiss him demandingly while he rolled you carefully onto your back. Loki pressed tender kisses to your forehead, cheeks and your neck. You spread your legs for him again and felt how he lined his stiffened cock up with your still wet entrance after he had stroked multiple times over your sweet pearl and through your folds with his sensitive tip. You both moaned into each other's mouth when he entered you in a swift move. He rested on his forearms, his fingers tenderly caressing your temples and scalp.
You caressed his shoulders and the soft curls in his neck when one of his hands took one of yours and placed it next to your head. He laced his fingers with yours and held your hand in place, his forehead resting against yours. Your other hand still ran through his silky long curls, tugging some strains of his hair behind his ear. The way you looked at him and the tenderness of your gesture made him nearly tear up. He had never been so full of love for someone.
He never enjoyed slow lovemaking as he did at this moment with you. Normally he was wild and vocal during sex, trying to chase his lover and himself to new highs by using passionate and filthy words. It has always been part of his love language. He became quite an expert over the last couple of hundred years. But now? He just wanted to hear every little moan, sigh and groan that escaped from your pretty mouth while he pounded slowly into your soft, tight cunt. He just wanted to listen to this love song you sang for him and to your whimpers which were caused by him.
So he said nothing, he just moaned breathlessly like you and listened to you, enjoying your warm, throbbing cunt, engulfing his needy cock, sucking him deeper into your wet channel, his pelvis massaging your sensitive clit. You whispered his name and your free hand grabbed harder into his back. Close to your climax, you wrapped your legs around his waist, pressing your heels into his ass to pull him harder against you.
He still held your hand in a tight grip and it became more firmly with every thrust of him. What were you doing to him? He was balls deep buried into your velvety warmth, engulfed by your love, and you gave him the feeling of being valued and worthy. You treated him like someone who deserves to be loved and who deserves to belong to someone. His heart wanted to explode.
You felt like you were floating. Loki was all around and inside of you. His warmth, his scent of sandalwood, moss and black oud, his breath and his lips grazing over your neck, shoulders and clavicle, his soft skin on yours …he engulfed you completely. Loki pumping his perfect cock in and out of you was breathtaking. You felt every vein on it and never before had someone hit your special spot inside of you so perfectly as Loki did. He was so powerful but carefully and tenderly fucking you that you had no words to describe what you felt.
His moans were the sexiest sound you had ever heard. And he moaned because of you because you were able to make him feel good. You wished it would never end. You knew you were close to your climax, Loki was pulsating inside of you and it seemed it just needed a few more thrusts and you both would cum together in a mind-blowing orgasm. His name escaped your mouth in a breathless moan, your hand grabbed harder into his back and you pressed him closer to you by wrapping your legs around his waist, arching your hips against him, pressing your feet harder into his ass because you wanted to feel him deeper inside of you. Your other hand was still clasped with his next to your head and you felt his grip getting more firm.
This heavenly feeling of him, when you two reached your highs, Loki filling you up to the brim, made your walls tighten and pulsate around his cock. Never before has an orgasm felt so satisfying, for both of you. In sheer bliss, you kissed him and he deepened the kiss immediately. You felt so desired, adored and safe.
Never before has Loki felt so satisfied, worshipped and loved. It was enchanting and it felt so good. He never wanted to miss it again. He felt his cock getting soft and he carefully bottomed out of your still clenching cunt. You whimpered at the loss and you felt his sperm slowly dripping out of you. You wanted him to stay close to you and you cling to him like a limpet.
At this moment Loki knew he would never get tired of you being clingy and so close to him. He wrapped his arms around you and held you tight, listened to your breath and pressed a tender kiss to your forehead. He was so madly in love with you.
Loki held you impossibly close to him. He enjoyed your proximity and the feeling of your satin skin on his. Your head nuzzled into the crook of his neck. His nose was buried into your hair and he inhaled your scent. You smelled wonderful to him. Your fingers trailed tenderly up and down his chest, brushing over his chest hair and softly tugging it.
"Are you okay, snowflake?" Loki whispered against the crown of your head.
"Yes, Lo, I'm okay," you whispered lazily.
"That was awesome, darling. You were amazing," he murmured.
"Was I?" You couldn't believe that he praised you.
"Hmmhmm, you were perfect, no matter what someone told you before. Do you remember? Let go of the past? You told me to do the same. Never before has someone pleasured and worshipped me like you did and given me so much love and adoration. Your tenderness was incredible, snowflake."
His praise made you blush and your heart flutter.
"It's because I care about you. I want you to feel good and loved."
"It was perfect, my love. You're made for me. I want to …live in you, in your heart. I want to be absorbed by you entirely. May I?"
You propped up on one arm and looked at him softly.
"Only if you let me, too. I never felt so loved and adored, Lo. It feels so good," you whispered and leaned your head down to peck his lips tenderly.
"Please own me, absorb me entirely…love me and let me love you, Lo."
You kissed him again and laid your head down again in the crook of his neck and continued trailing lazy circles over his chest.
"Nothing more than that, snowflake. But please tell me, why did you choose me, my love? I didn't do anything to make you want me. I'm not a lovable man. I don't deserve your love, not even your attention. You're too precious for me, I'm not worthy of you."
"Don't say that, Lo. Don't be so hard on yourself. You did a lot to make me love you. You gave me your attention, you care about me, you listened to me and let's not talk about the sheer amount of time you spent with me. When I met you for the first time and looked into your eyes I could see your emotions in them. They were hidden deep down in your heart and I wanted to find them, explore them, and set them free. I wanted to see your true self and all the love you can give, everything that's hidden behind the mask you are wearing. And I'm sure I've found it, nearly all of it…hopefully. And I know you're a loving and giving man…no…a god. I'm the one who should be thankful that you chose me, that you see something in me you want to have by your side, that you want to protect…and to love…"
"How could you see behind my mask? No one ever could. Why did you even try?"
"Love is the answer, I guess. You've always been so guarded and distant but nonetheless, I saw it in your eyes, Lo … whenever I had the chance to look at you. Everything was always written in your beautiful eyes. You were my challenge and I had to figure out what you think, what you feel, what you need…I can't explain it, my heart just told me to do so."
"You have no idea, my love, how much I wanted you right from the first moment when I saw you in the park, sitting alone on that bench. I just refused to believe it," he chuckled.
"You have everything and you are everything I need and I've been looking for. I think… you are the right person, my right person who was willing to see and explore me. You told me I should never give up on finding the love of my life. I'm sure I've found her. It's you, you're my Queen, my goddess who I will worship for the rest of my life."
"Lo, you make me feel shy… I've just let my heart speak, baby and it barely betrays me…and I never give up easily. And believe me, I never thought that I could be someone's goddess." You teared up. What a way to get loving aftercare.
"You really mean it, Lo? I am the love of your life, your goddess?"
"Yes, my love, you are. I'm so blessed that I met you. I'm so glad that you've listened to your heart, that you gave me a chance, me, the bad guy...and that you saved me from getting lost."
"Bad guy? I only accept you as a bad guy in bed," you chuckled and pinched his nipple gently.
"Ouch!" Loki hissed playfully.
"You're not a bad guy, Lo. You've proven it several times now. You've saved lives, and worlds, you proved that you are capable of working in a team… the others told me. They like you, and your brother is very proud of you and…he assured me that he loves you. He doesn't want to lose you ever again. So don't tell me you're a bad person."
You lifted your head a bit to look at Loki.
"You're a god so take your chances, tell and write your own stories, new stories and…I would love to be a part of it. I want to take my chances too, I want my own and new stories, too. Together with you! Should we write them together? Would you like that, Lo?"
The tears in his eyes and the lump in his throat made him unable to speak. Maybe he was loveable and worthy of being liked and loved.
"Your positivity is unbreakable, isn't it? I think you might be right and we should give it a try…let's figure it out," he cooed and you two looked at each other in agreement and adoration and sealed it with a passionate kiss.
"Lo?"
"Yes, my love."
"Does love at first sight exist?"
He paused and inhaled your scent deeply before he answered.
"I didn't believe in it, I didn't even believe in love at all…until I met you… yes, snowflake, it exists, for you and me it definitely exists."
You couldn't speak at that moment so you just cuddled closer to him, held him in a tight grip and laid your head down again on his chest.
"Lo?"
"Yes, my love," he answered and he tightened his grip on you, too.
"You have a dominant side, don't you? I know you have one…and I want all of you. Please don't ever hide from me, I want you to be your true self. And I want to be your good girl," you smiled lasciviously against his chest.
"I couldn't really hide it, hmm? Don't worry, my love. I will show you every side of me," he groaned and chuckled darkly, making you shiver with excitement.
"But for now, please let me bathe in your tender love, snowflake" he murmured, softly again.
He made you change positions so he could lay his head down on your cleavage and now you pulled him closer to you and combed your fingers tenderly through his soft hair, caressed his scalp and twisted his curls around your fingers, your other hand trailed over his arm. Loki drew lazy circles with his long fingers over your stomach and around your navel. He loved how you played with his hair, it felt intimate and caring. More intimate and caring than sex could ever be.
Before you fell into a deep sleep you felt a warm tingling brush fanning over your whole body and when that feeling was gone, your body felt clean and refreshed.
"What did you do, Lo?" you mumbled sleepy against the crown of his head.
"I just used my seiđr to clean us, " he whispered and kissed your forehead.
"I hope it's okay for you."
"Hmmm, but only if we sleep naked now."
"Oh, I always sleep naked, my love."
"Wonderful!" you mumbled and turned around to lay on your side so Loki could spoon you.
He pulled a duvet over you two and wrapped his arm around your waist, his hand resting outstretched on your stomach.
The rest of the night he held you tight and you were being pulled closer by him within cuddles and he couldn't stop kissing you on your shoulders, your hair and your nape. Now he knew what you were doing to him. You've tried to touch more than his body and you did it. You touched his heart.
"I love you, snowflake," he whispered just before he finally fell asleep.
You smiled but you were too tired and too close to sleep to answer him. But you would give him an answer. Soon, very soon.

Chapter Eleven (Part II) October 16th, 2015 Asgard (Previous Chapter)
“Would you care for a drink? Or possibly a new set of lungs?” Loki panted lightly as the two of them practically stumbled off the dance floor. After finishing their first dance together, Loki and Frigga had shared a dance and Thor had surprised (Y/N) by asking for a dance; he was better than she expected him to be but he had a habit of taking large steps that her shorter legs struggled to keep up with. Once that dance ended, Loki had swept her up into another four dances before they finally decided to take a break.
(Y/N) chuckled, trying to catch her breath and maneuver through the groups of people socializing around the dance floor. “I think I’d rather have a new pair of feet than a new set of lungs, but I’m afraid that a drink is the more realistic choice.” They finally reached a secluded corner of the ballroom. “Thank goodness Tony isn’t here right now; I can practically hear all the immature stamina jokes he’d make!”
Loki smirked and ran a hand over his slightly disheveled hair. “It wouldn’t be that horrible if Stark were here, darling.” She raised a questioning brow and he continued, “His jokes would embarrass you, and I love the way you smile when you become bashful. It’s positively enchanting.” Of course, the matter-of-fact way he said that caused a flustered smile to spread across her face. “Ah, there it is!”
“All right, you big flirt, didn’t you say that you’d get us some drinks?”
“Of course, anything for you, my goddess!” He placed a swift kiss on her cheek and disappeared into the crowd.
Shaking her head in amusement, (Y/N) leaned against the marble pillar beside her and watched the people mingling and dancing, pleased that she was able to find a place to truly take in all the sights and sounds of the Asgardian ball. It’s like I’m in a Jane Austen novel, she thought with a smile, but without the signature drama and angst.
“Pardon me, my lady, but may I ask you a question?” (Y/N) tore her eyes away from the crowd to see a young woman standing before her. She looked to be about her age but was much taller, with long strawberry-blonde hair, intelligent stormy-grey eyes and a pretty yet shy face; she was dressed in a simple blue gown made of shimmering gossamer and satin that accentuated her great height, and she wore a braided silver tiara on her head.
“Of course, but you don’t have to call me that! My name’s (Y/N).” She held her hand out and the woman paused a moment before holding her goblet of mead in one hand and gently shaking hers with the other.
“I’m Amirah,” The woman smiled tentatively before continuing. “You’re not from this realm either, are you?”
(Y/N) shook her head. In that moment, she noticed Amirah’s pointed ears and her heart began hammering excitedly in her chest. “No, I’m actually from Midgard but I’m also from-”
“I knew it!” Amirah’s face broke out into an excited grin. “I’m so sorry for my forwardness but I’ve never met a Midgardian before! Is your realm similar to Asgard? What do Midgardians do for fun? Does Midgard have a king?”
“Well…” For nearly ten minutes, (Y/N) described Midgard as simply as she could as Amirah listened with rapt attention; the Alfheimian seemed especially intrigued by New York and was a little confused by how the realm’s governments worked and why some countries govern themselves. “I’m sorry if that was too vague, Amirah, it’s difficult trying to explain such a complex place to someone who’s never been there…”
Amirah waved her apology away. “It’s all right, you’ve given me a wonderful understanding of Midgard in such a small amount of time! I wish nothing more than to visit your realm but unfortunately, Alfheim’s laws forbid it…”
“Your drink, my love!” Before (Y/N) could question Amirah, Loki appeared from the crowd before them with two goblets. “I would’ve been back sooner if not for Fandral and his inebriated shenanigans; he kept challenging me to a drinking contest.” He caught sight of Amirah and gave her a small bow. “Lady Amirah, it’s a pleasure to see you again. How are you enjoying the ball?”
“It’s splendid! (Y/N) here was just telling me a little about Midgard; such a fascinating place, is it not?”
Loki smiled, shooting (Y/N) a wink as he handed her a goblet. “Yes, it is. One might say that the people are the best things about the entire realm.” He glanced back at the Alfheimian as another dance began. “Did you know that (Y/N) is part-?”
“I’m terribly sorry, Prince Loki, but I must go; I promised this dance to my father!” Amirah gave them a graceful curtsy. “It was a pleasure talking to the both of you!” With that, she hurried off into the crowd.
(Y/N) watched her go, curiosity still pulling at her. “Are she and her father members of the Alfheimian delegation?”
Loki’s brow furrowed in confusion. “She didn’t tell you who she was?” (Y/N) shook her head. “That’s King Tarian’s daughter, the Princess of Alfheim.”
“I wonder why she didn’t say anything,” She commented before sipping on her watered-down mead and shuddering as the alcohol burned her throat. “Urgh, I’m never going to get used to that…”
Her boyfriend smirked as he took a long drink from his goblet. “I’m still surprised that you’re able to tolerate even that much mead; Thor and I gave that same mixture to Stark once and he passed out before he could finish it, but then again, he isn’t part Alfheimian. Speaking of which, did Amirah tell you anything about your mother’s realm?”
“I didn’t get a chance to ask her anything, I was too busy telling her about Midgard. I didn’t even get a chance to tell her that I’m part-Alfheimian.”
“Oh, well, I’m sure that we’ll run into her again before the night is over.” He looked away from the crowd before them and frowned when he looked at her. “Are you feeling all right?”
(Y/N) stood straighter, realizing that she was leaning heavily against the stone pillar next to her to relieve the pressure on her feet. “I’m fine, but still recovering from all that dancing!”
Loki opened his mouth to reply but was interrupted by Thor coming up to them, a bright grin lighting up his face. “Lady (Y/N), how are you enjoying your evening?”
“It’s been wonderful!” (Y/N) exclaimed, ignoring the discomfort of her dress laces and her aching feet. “Are you and Sif having a good time?”
“Of course! She’s off somewhere besting Fandral at a drinking contest; I was cheering her on when Mother sent me on a mission,” Thor looked away from her and smiled at Loki. “Mother needs to speak with you, brother, she said it was urgent. She’s out in the corridor.”
“All right, would you stay here and keep (Y/N) company?” When Thor nodded, Loki pressed a kiss to her forehead. “I’ll be back shortly, darling.” He turned and disappeared into the crowd.
Thor offered her his hand with a knowing smile. “Would you care for some fresh air?”
“Sure!” Taking his hand, (Y/N) allowed him to lead her through the crowd; once again, she noticed how everyone’s curious eyes would follow her and she was glad that Thor was leading her away from them. A few moments later, they were on a secluded balcony that overlooked one of the palace’s magnificent gardens. After taking a moment to enjoy the silence and the slight breeze against her flushed skin, (Y/N) looked up at Thor. “It’s so beautiful.”
He gave her another smile and leaned against the stone railing. “When we were younger, Loki and I would come out here during balls whenever we grew too bored. He would show me his magic and when we played, we would pretend that we were great warriors leading an army against the Jotuns together.” Thor’s smile slowly fell and he was silent for a moment before continuing. “We would have played a very different game had I known the truth about our family.”
“It’s not your fault, Thor, you were raised to believe a lie. You both were.” She gave his large hand a comforting pat as she leaned against the stone railing beside him. “And now look at the both of you, you’re fighting side-by-side again. You both have come such a long way.”
“Thank you, Lady (Y/N), your words are a great comfort.” Thor glanced at her and gestured to her empty goblet. “Would you care for another drink?”
“Just water, please.”
Taking her goblet, he gave her a teasing bow. “Your wish is my command, my lady, so I shall return shortly!” He winked and walked back into the crowded ballroom.
Turning back to the moonlit garden, (Y/N) let out a relieved sigh. Alone at last, she thought as she rubbed her temples with her fingers to relieve her dull headache. As fun and wonderful as balls were, she’d come to realize that they were also unbelievably uncomfortable; after only three hours, her dress was constricting her breathing, her shoes were pinching her toes and her neck was sore from wearing her heavy tiara. Look on the bright side, though, you still have a chance to learn a little about Alfheim tonight, she thought with a smile, you just have to track down Princess Amirah.
“I was told that Asgard has the most beautiful sights in all the Nine Realms, but I didn’t believe that until I came out here.”
(Y/N) quickly turned to see an Alfheimian man leaning casually against the opening of the balcony. He was dressed in a midnight-blue tunic embroidered with sliver thread and black trousers tucked into knee-high black boots with a silver crown on his light-brown hair. He had a carefree grin on his pale face but something about his nearly translucent-grey eyes made her uneasy. “Sorry, I was just leaving; enjoy the view of the garden…”
He smirked and stepped in front of her before she could leave. “How coy of you, minx. What’s your name?”
“Uninterested.” (Y/N) moved to step around him. His hand shot out and grabbed her upper arm before she could take another step. “Let me go.”
“Now, now, I only want to know your name.” The man’s eyes bored into hers as his grin widened. “Allow me to introduce myself: I am General Arbane of Alfheim, commander of the Royal Army.”
(Y/N) tried wrenching her left arm free, but his grip was too strong. “I don’t care who you are, but you have five seconds to let me go.”
Arbane only chuckled. “Other women would trample each other to be where you are right now, minx-” He was cut off abruptly when her foot stomped down onto his foot; with a groan of pain, his hold loosened and she hurried towards the balcony’s opening but when she was just steps away, his hand clamped around her wrist and pulled her back onto the secluded balcony. “You insolent little viper, how dare you-!”
Suddenly, Arbane was ripped away from her. The force knocked her to the ground and it took her a moment to clamber to her feet; that’s when she saw Loki, his face filled with pure rage as he and Arbane exchanged blows. “Loki! Loki, stop!” She tried grabbing his arm before he could land another punch but it was no use, he didn’t even acknowledge her presence.
Panicking, (Y/N) gathered her skirt in her hands and dashed into the ballroom, dodging people as she searched for Thor. Thankfully, she didn’t have far to look; he was standing near the wall, chatting with Sif and the Warrior’s Three as he held two goblets of mead.
“…I would have to say that Pop-Tarts are the best, but-Lady (Y/N), what’s wrong?”
(Y/N) struggled to speak through gasps of breath. “Thor, it’s-it’s Loki, he’s on the balcony, please-!”
Thankfully, he seemed to understand; he thrust the goblets into a passerby’s arms and hurried to the balcony, (Y/N) and the others following closely behind. When they reached the balcony, Thor and Sif rushed to grab Loki, who was holding a knife to the general’s throat, while Volstagg and Hogun both grabbed Arbane. While Loki only had a swollen cheek, Arbane’s nose was clearly broken and blood flowed freely down his engorged face.
“What happened?” Thor demanded, his arms wrapped tightly around Loki’s torso as he struggled to break free.
“That bastard attacked (Y/N)!” Loki snarled, eyes still filled with fury.
Thor looked at her with wide eyes, and all she could do was nod as Fandral gave her shoulder a comforting squeeze. Thor turned to look back at Arbane and his blue eyes hardened as the Alfheimian spat out, “The peace treaty has been broken by the Prince of Asgard! This means war!” Sif wrenched his arm harder behind his back, effectively quieting him.
“If that were true, then the treaty was broken the moment you attacked a woman under the protection of the Allfather!” Thor’s voice was low but filled with more power and authority than ever. “Take him to the dungeons and be discrete; his king can negotiate for his freedom after the ball.”
Sif, Fandral, Volstagg and Hogun each grabbed Arbane and with matching looks of disgust, they led him roughly down the balcony’s stairs and through the garden towards the dungeons.
Once they were out of sight, Thor pushed Loki away from him; it might have been (Y/N)’s imagination, but she could’ve sworn that Thor’s eyes crackled with electricity. “Loki, what the Hel is wrong with you?!”
Loki’s eyes narrowed dangerously and his jaw clenched. “What, you think I should’ve just let him attack (Y/N)?!”
“Of course not, but murdering King Tarian’s general wouldn’t have solved anything! The peace treaty-!”
“Oh, screw the peace treaty, Thor, you’re beginning to sound just as high and mighty as Odin! You’re the one responsible for all this, you left her alone!”
(Y/N) took a hesitant step forward. “Loki-”
“Loki, you may not care about it but the peace treaty is essential to Asgard’s survival! Our father-!”
“HE’S NOT MY FATHER!”
Loki’s outburst caused Thor to stiffen, his face contorting with barely-restrained anguish. “Then am I not your brother?”
Everything was dead silent for a moment before Loki coolly replied, “You’re not.”
Throwing Loki one last glare, Thor stormed off into the ballroom. Loki stood and stared after him, his chest heaving and his fists tightly clenched at his sides. Without another word, Loki marched off into the dark gardens, leaving (Y/N) standing alone on the balcony and frozen in shock.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“My dear, are you quite sure that you’re all right?”
(Y/N) smiled slightly, touched by Frigga’s concern as they talked in a quiet corner of the ballroom. As soon as she’d snapped out of her shock, she set out to find the queen and tell her about what had happened on the balcony. “I’m fine, I’m just...”
Frigga placed a comforting hand on her cheek as she adjusted her tiara with the other. “Some say that Loki possesses a silver tongue, but when it comes to his brother…well, he tends to speak first and think about the impact of his words later. And although I’m disappointed that they stormed off and left you alone after your ordeal, I’m confident that both Loki and Thor will soon return to their usual selves.” Frigga smiled but (Y/N) could sense that she was also worried for her two sons, so she took the queen’s hand and gave it a brief but comforting squeeze.
“Queen Frigga, I-oh, is this a poor time?” They turned around and (Y/N)’s eyes widened in surprise when she saw King Tarian and Princess Amirah standing before them.
Frigga gave them both a bright smile. “No, not at all! (Y/N), this is King Tarian of Alfheim and I believe that you already met his daughter, Princess Amirah.” The two Alfheimians inclined their heads in a small bow and Amirah flashed her a sheepish smile. “And may I present Lady (Y/N) of Midgard.” Unsure of what to do, (Y/N) gave the pair a small curtsy.
“Yes, Queen Frigga and my daughter have told me many great things about you this evening.” King Tarian’s cheerful expression faltered and he lowered his voice. “I was sorry to learn of what transpired between you and my general but rest assured that he will be punished accordingly when we return to Alfheim in the morning.” (Y/N) returned the king’s kind smile and couldn’t help but feel at ease. “Queen Frigga mentioned earlier that you wish to learn more about Alfheim?”
“Yes, of course,” After giving the queen a grateful look, (Y/N) took a deep breath and continued. “Several months ago, I learned that my mother was from Alfheim and since then, I wanted to know more about the realm and I…I want to find out who she is.”
King Tarian stroked his chin thoughtfully. “Interesting…as you might have already guessed, Alfheim’s borders have been closed for nearly a millennia; no one has been allowed to come or go in all that time, and yet you stand here before me.”
“But Father, it’s possible that over the years the rebels discovered ways-”
“Yes, that’s true.” King Tarian gave his daughter a look of warning, which caused her to bow her head meekly. Turning back to (Y/N) and Frigga with a forced smile, he said, “But without knowing her name, it would be very difficult to find her. I’m truly sorry, Lady (Y/N), but I cannot help you. I hope you enjoy the rest of the ball.”
He began to turn away and as she panicked, (Y/N) blurted out, “I have Alf Seidr!” The king stopped dead in his tracks at her declaration, and Amirah’s mouth fell open in shock. “Does that help narrow it down?”
King Tarian turned back around, a mixture of disbelief and fear on his face. “Impossible…she can’t have…”
Before he could elaborate, the sounds of screams filled the ballroom and (Y/N) frantically stood on her toes and looked around for their cause. Her heart dropped suddenly when she saw Thor convulsing on the floor, white foam spewing from his mouth as Sif struggled to turn him onto his side. “Thor!” She ran through the panicked crowd to him, dropping to her knees next to Sif and watching helplessly as Thor’s face lost its color. “What happened?!”
“I don’t know, we were drinking mead and he collapsed!”
“Thor!” (Y/N) glanced up to see Loki and Frigga hurrying to them through the scattering crowd with panicked faces. They both dropped like stones beside Thor, and Loki’s frightened eyes darted from his brother’s convulsing body to the empty goblet beside him. Without a word, he summoned his green magic and quickly pressed his glowing palms to his brother’s chest. Giving each other a hasty look, (Y/N) and Frigga did the same; (Y/N) concentrated on her magic, willing it to enter Thor’s body and heal whatever had happened; she had no clue if her magic even contained any healing properties, but she had to at least try.
A moment later, Thor’s eyes slid shut and his body was still.
Pastel Blue (Chapter 5)
Tumblr media
Synopsis: After his lucky escape, the Tesseract takes Loki on new adventures–but unfortunately, his journeys through space do not go unnoticed and he soon ends up on TVA’s radar. Working for them, albeit reluctantly, he keeps finding himself in the company of a young woman, Jess, who works in the linguistics department and who has a truly strange effect on him. Smitten by her confidence and smugness, he seeks her presence like a bee hunting for honey and lets her wreak havoc in his heart without really knowing why. But he is determined to find out. He means to escape this godforsaken place anyway.
It almost felt like no time at all. Had one whole week really passed already since Loki had accommodated himself in her unit? In the books, the characters who had to share a room usually fell in love by the end of the story or, even better, they had some mind-blowing sex and then ended up together, and yet all she had done was play with her vibrator like it would be taken away from her the next morning for good.
But unlike any of the mischief and the chaos she had expected, Loki was a rather pleasant roommate. He was respectful, calm, tidy… and she doubted he had ever entered her room without her permission. Unless, of course, he had done so in her absence.
Jess gnashed her teeth, her eyes fixed on her brown hair in the mirror. Ariana had found this lovely youth magazine in the nineties yesterday, one that had already been thrown in the bin. The only reason she had taken it was because the cover showed a blue phone booth with Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor on the cover. Jess had spent all morning skimming through it, reading the headline article as well as chuckling about the gossip and the ads—even though some of them were rather sexist.
At some point, she found a double page on fancy hairstyles for women and now struggled to copy one of the elegant braids to spice up her own hair. Thus far, she had been failing miserably, flinching with a grunt when Loki opened the bathroom door. He tilted his head upon seeing her sitting on the edge of her bathtub with her tongue sticking out a little and her fingers entangled in her brown hair.
“Yes?”
“I meant to get washed but clearly, you are occupied in here.”
Jess huffed, flinging the hair tie into the sink. “I’ve been trying to braid my hair. Like this, look!” She pointed at the magazine. The woman in the picture looked like it had taken her five minutes to create this look, and they’d had the audacity to rate this style ‘quick and easy’.
Loki chuckled. “You look like a scarecrow.”
“Why, thank you.” She rolled her eyes. “You can take your shower, I give up on this.” She said.
His sigh surprised her. “Allow me.”
“What?” Jess’ reply was all but a chirp but Loki had already approached her and fetched the hair tie from the sink. The braid was indeed a simple one, and as he stood behind her to part her hair for her, he had to refrain from letting her know just how soft it felt.
He had often braided his mother’s hair as a child. It was an activity that had calmed him down whenever Thor and his friends had made fun of how fond he was of books and preferred to use his mind and tricks rather than raw strength in play fights. The hand movements he was so familiar with that he had no need to look. Instead, he met Jess’ eyes in the mirror. She swallowed, and for a brief moment, he found himself remembering the whimpers coming from her bedroom at night.
Quickly, he averted his gaze again, parting her hair to reveal the earrings dangling down her earlobes. They shimmered in the artificial light of the bathroom. He had never seen her without them, come to think of it.
“They are moonstones.” She said when she noticed his glance. His finger brushed against her left earring once more, making it swing a little. “M got them for me on my birthday. The stone is said to soothe emotional instability and stress, and to stabilise emotions.” After all, her own parents were unlikely to buy her birthday presents anymore. “He asked me to always wear them… that they would protect me from evil.”
Loki hummed. He was familiar with the healing properties of moonstones. They were rather common on Asgard too. Only it made him wonder why Mobius would be so keen on her keeping them on at all times.
“Do you truly believe that?”
She shrugged. “I choose to.
His fingertips brushed against the soft skin of her neck and he sucked in a deep breath. Jess’ lips parted. She was indeed a beautiful woman, was she not? Loki pondered if she was aware of just how alluring she was. How delectable she sounded when she came undone, believing so naïvely that he was unable to hear the fun she had with herself.
Lust flared up in his blue eyes, his fingers caressing her neck once more, and him braiding her hair all of a sudden turning into a subtle excuse to touch her over and over, to explore what their physical connection meant to him. Then it hit him. The inexplicable tension between them was indeed sexual too.
It was perfect, was it not? If Jess desired him, in whatever way she imagined to… then perhaps he could make use of her attraction, especially as this meant that he too would get to blatantly act on those carnal needs simmering right beneath the surface of his very core. He could not possibly trust her beyond that.
“There.” He announced, finishing up the braid by tying the loose ends together with her hair tie. She looked exactly like the model in the magazine now—only Loki had done an even better job. Jess swallowed once more, wishing, subconsciously, that he would touch her one last time. When he stepped away from her instead, she came to suppress a disappointed whimper.
“M is, um… you’ll be sent to a different unit next week.” She said, breaking the oddly peaceful but palpable silence between them.
“Am I?”
“Yeah. Reese recovered well, I mean, that’s what M told me. He will take over after the party.”
“What party?”
Jess stood, clutching the sink behind her for support—Loki did not fail to notice how flustered she was now, almost as if him braiding her hair had intensified whatever it was she felt for him. It had been a long time since he had last had to think this way upon meeting someone of the opposite sex, let alone a mortal woman.
“Dave is celebrating his anniversary this weekend. It’s a big deal here at the TVA, much more important than birthdays. M didn’t tell you about it, then.” She concluded.
Loki shook his head slowly and decided to give her a smirk. Her reaction, blood biting at her cheeks, pleased him. “I’d dare say I am not invited to your silly festivities.”
“M is thinking about it. About inviting you, I mean. And I guess you could… use a break from all… this. Besides, apart from security, everyone will be drunk by midnight. Lots of snacking and dancing…”
Loki rolled his eyes. He had already hated these kinds of parties back on Asgard. Fandral would shamelessly flirt with three women at once, Volstagg would stuff himself into a coma and Thor would brag with his hammer on the dance floor, making the women believe they could lift it as they danced with him.
If anything, however, this absurd anniversary was the perfect opportunity for him to let his charm play and gain her trust. Jess sighed, prompting him to look up and meet her eyes. She stood, approaching him with the hint of a smile both scornful and compassionate at the same time… and then wrapped her arms around him.
Loki tensed up, his arms hanging by his side motionlessly. Physical affection was the last thing he had expected in a place like this, even from Jess. Perhaps, gaining her trust would be easier than he thought it would be, and still, part of him was unable to deny how much he enjoyed knowing that someone at least pretended to care, as peculiar as she was. Her touch felt like someone had set his entire body ablaze.
“Listen, I know you’ve been through shit and I know you hate everyone right now, including me. M may or may not have red on his ledger but you’re a part of the team now. You’re one of us. If we don’t stand up for each other, then who will?”
“I never agreed on becoming a part of the team.” Loki responded darkly.
Jess moved away from him a little, her smile faltering. “Me neither.”
~*~
“You’ll have to explain that to me one more time. When your father, I mean, Odin, fell into the Odinsleep—whatever the hell that means—your mother gave you the throne?”
Loki hummed. That was the part of the story Thor had left out upon telling S.H.I.E.L.D. and all the other silly secret organisations run by mortals how dangerous and menacing his adoptive brother was.
Jess was flicking through one of the thickest books he had ever seen. It was a collection of astronomical anomalies written down in a language not even Loki could decipher and it was so big she had to stand upright rather than sit at her desk to read the top of the pages. She gazed at him from the corner of her eyes.
“Thor was no longer on Asgard and Mother refused to leave Odin’s side. I was the only one left fit to rule—only Thor’s idiotic friends did not accept me as their king.”
“Let me guess… they pretended you were the villain so you became the villain?” Nibbling on her candy necklace, she bit off a pearl with a loud crack. Loki flinched a little. It was short of a miracle she had not chipped any of her teeth yet.
“I saw my chance,” he said. “So I took it. I never saw myself as the villain. And I never lied. I was the rightful king of Asgard.”
Jess bent over to read the small print. She was still wearing the plait Loki had braided into her hair. It swayed from side to side a bit as it fell over her shoulder, revealing her neck. Her scent was almost unnerving—unnerving in a most ferocious and desirable way. Intoxicating. He had sensed it when she had hugged him already and now, part of him was greedy to press her close to him once more and feel her body against his. He suppressed a growl. He should be enjoying his quest to tiptoe nearer and nearer to getting this ridiculous collar off his neck and make this mortal woman swoon over him—not the other way around. He was the one in control. He had to be.
So he stepped closer, his tread so quiet Jess never heard him approach her.
“So you came to like it. The power of the throne?” She said without looking up. Loki nodded, oblivious to the fact she could not see him. She cursed under her breath when his arm brushed against hers, eliciting a barely noticeable smirk from him. It was amusing how quickly he could read her reactions to him now.
The Trickster swallowed. “I meant to prove myself to the man who never saw me as a potential heir in the first place.”
“How did Thanos find you?” Jess choked out when he moved in closer, demanding all of her attention to himself. It almost scared him how fast she forgot about the massive book on her desk, her eyes fixed on his face as if it bore the answer to all of her questions. Loki’s expression hardened nonetheless, regardless of how much the urge to taste her lips rose within him.
“How much do you know?”
“I know what M told me… that you were his ally and he helped you take over Earth in exchange for the Tesseract.”
Loki narrowed his eyes at her. “Then you know nothing.” Her glance found his lips now too. He was standing close enough for his warm breath to ghost over her mouth, her heart beating more rapidly with every passing second.
Fuck. Her office was being monitored. Sucking in a deep breath, she moved away from him and closed the thick book on her desk shut. “It’s late. We should head to the party.” She cleared her throat. “You can, um… wait for me here so I can get changed. Give me five.”
Loki nodded, taken by surprise until he noticed her glancing at the chunky surveillance camera in the corner of the room. Ah… there it was. The fear or shame or both to be caught being involved with him. Loki gnashed his teeth when she rushed past him, fleeing from the scene. That, at least, was something he was familiar with.
He remained in the office, almost as if glued to the spot, for a while longer before he made his way towards the cafeteria where the festivities would take place. Jess would catch up—besides, so he had to admit, he was indeed looking forward to seeing their faces when he joined the ridiculous little party and what it might give him to work with.
“Really, that’s all? That’s almost a little disappointing.” He heard Dave say in the distance, presumably a few yards away from him, his voice ricocheting through the dark hallway.
Loki stopped dead in his tracks. As silent as a mouse, he leaned against the wall, melted into it almost, and slowed down his breathing.
“Yes…” Another voice that Loki identified as Mobius’, replied. “We did take a risk with them but I must admit, I too almost expected a little… more. I thought one of them might… feel something, you know—a connection or recognition, maybe.” Loki could hear his suit ruffle as he shrugged. “Well, timelines can be unpredictable. We do know that better than anyone else.”
Connection. Recognition? For some peculiar reason, he was certain the pair were speaking about him. Him and… Jess? Who else could they possibly mean? His gut feeling, however, told him that he should, seidr or not, get rid of the security footage in Jess’ office as soon as possible. Whatever it was Mobius wanted to see unfolding between them, he was not going to grant him the satisfaction of presenting it to him on a silver platter.
Fortunately enough, they were too far away to hear him, he realised that once more when Jess’ footsteps echoed through the hallway. He knew it was her without even looking behind himself and yet, found his heart skipping a beat when she touched his arm.
“Ready? You know they might give you suspicious looks as soon as you… what are you doing?”
Loki gave her a disarming smile. “Nothing. Shall we?”
OG616 : Thor 1 - Pt.1 [The Coronation]
[My masterlist, where all parts of this and my other fics can be found]
Pairing: Loki / Sigyn (basically an oc based off the marvel/myth namesake)
Warnings: None! It’s all fluff for now.
Author’s Note: This will be an ongoing series - not sure how long it will last, but it is a Very long piece, going through each of the Thor movies, as well as some of the Avengers movies and times in-between, filling in the blanks much like the Thor: The Dark World Prelude comic and the like. I pull mostly from the MCU, with a dash of Norse myth and personal headcanons. There may be enough for a few months’ worth of content as I edit and post pieces!
If you’d like to be added for the taglist for this, please say so in the replies or message me separately, if you wish.
I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do - it’s been a personal journey for me, and I’m excited to share it. And if you don’t enjoy it? I wish you well all the same. <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Loki. Lokiii, wake up."
Sigyn was met with a mere grunt.
"Loki, darling. Wake up." She leaned closer, kissing her husband's cheek - he inhaled, eyes fluttering open.
"Why should I?" He murmured, rolling onto his side to face her, eyes still droopy with sleep. "I've got you."
Sigyn reached up to brush a wispy black hair from his face. Caressed his cheek. "But Thor’s coronation is today. We can’t exactly miss it.."
Loki smiled, though it was rather forced. "Yes.. Of course. How could I forget?"
"Well, it's alright if you forget sometimes. You have me." Another kiss, and Sigyn hopped out of bed. Their chambers were bathed in the golden light of morning, a fresh breeze drifting in from the balcony. She walked to their water basin, washing her face and hands, then patting it dry with the soft towel before dressing for the day. "I’d wager the feast will be wonderful," She glanced at him as he finally left the bed, "That is, if Volstagg leaves us any."
Loki chuckled. "That would certainly be wondrous." He too washed and dressed, though quicker with the help of magic, walking to the doorway to their balcony. Sunlight shone bright over the city... He took a deep breath, leaning against the threshold. "What time is it?"
"Nearly midday, I would guess. You, my dear, are lazy." She teased, adjusting her clothes in a floor-length mirror: sleek and tailored, sapphire cloth mixed with dyed leathers. The colors contrasted with her skin - the same color as Loki’s, though her shoulder-length hair was a shade lighter. Deep brown, which matched her eyes. She brushed her hair back from her face.
"As I recall, you kept me up last night." He chuckled over his shoulder.
"I beg your pardon? You're the one who insisted on finishing just one more chapter of your book - no doubt a chapter that could have waited." Sigyn smiled.
"Now now, I- Not wearing your gown yet, darling?" He walked back to her, smoothing a hand over her shoulder.
"I was hoping to eat and visit the stables before I'm doted upon for hours.." She muttered, turning her attention to the gloves she was trying to pull on unassumingly.
"Nonsense, you should be doted upon promptly. Food can be brought to you." He kissed her forehead.
A huff. "All right, I was hoping to visit the stables."
"Mmn, as I suspected. I'm sorry, darling, but you'll do no such thing. Running off isn't permitted on such an important day." He smirked.
"I only wanted to see Villieldr."
"You'll see him tomorrow, dear one. Now, let's get you to the thralls, they'll need to start soon.."
~~~~
Hours later, Sigyn was still in a dressing room of sorts, secluded from the rest of the palace. It was golden, like the rest of Valaskjalf, though it sported a long, padded bench for her to sit on as she was tended to. Thralls - servants of the royal family, who lived and worked in the palace - had brushed her hair, prepared her gown, shined her adornments. Now they split her brown locks into long, loose curls, pulling them back into braids.
She stayed quiet, letting them do their work. Years of experience had taught her to remain completely still - or else incite the hushed grumbling and frustrated glares of the experienced hairdressers, who despised fidgety clients.
After what felt like a millennium of waiting, sitting in nothing but her shoes and a satiny slip, Sigyn was finally given her gown: deep green, with a gold armored bodice. The emerald fabric draped off her shoulders, over her neck and behind her in a sort of cape. On each arm, a golden band - and golden bracelets, which matched the headpiece they placed around her head like a crown. Golden, with a sweeping wing on each side, it was delicate and thin, shining in the light. She gazed in the mirror, smiling in spite of herself. "I do hope Loki is pleased.." She murmured, brushing her fingertips along the golden headpiece.
One of the servants giggled. Vieta, Sigyn's personal favorite and close friend, a younger girl with fiery red hair who'd taken to the princess from the start. "Let us know how he reacts." She winked.
Sigyn shared a grin with her before leaving.
~~~~
Sigyn walked past torch sconces and golden arches, carvings that had grown so familiar through the years. She smiled at memories of running between those same pillars, ducking behind them with her now-husband to avoid prying eyes. They had grown since then. She was no longer the shy, quiet girl who hid behind her father Vaskr, only speaking when spoken to. Loki, no longer the studious boy who desperately tried to impress her with spells. No, while Sigyn still had a quieter nature than most, and Loki still enjoyed his books and tomes, they were stronger together.
Now, there was no need to hide, or to feel out of place amidst the gilded walls. The palace had become her home.
"It's time." A familiar voice echoed.
"You go ahead," rumbled another.
Sigyn stepped out from behind the last pillar, smiling up at them - Thor, her brother, the crown prince, and Loki, who stood looking dumbfounded. She stopped in her tracks, gazing up at his freshly-polished armor, his sparkling eyes, his barely-parted lips that meant to speak, but simply couldn't... He looked positively gorgeous in the firelight. And by the pink of his cheeks, she figured he felt the same about her.
"You two act like a pair of newlyweds." Thor chuckled.
Sigyn snapped out of her stupor. Grinned, walked up to them both. "You know, Loki, I think Thor is jealous."
"Me? Jealous? Why-"
"Oh, yes," Loki piped up, taking Sigyn's hand and placing a firm kiss to her knuckles. "He's still single."
She giggled gently.
"Well then, brother. We’ll see you soon." Loki smirked, patted Thor on the back, and happily led Sigyn off, Thor chuckling as they left.
~~~~
Loki, still holding Sigyn's hand, continued his smug strut all the way to the throne room.
Sigyn’s grip tightened when they neared the entrance.
"All right, love?" He looked at her.
She smiled gently. "Just a bit nervous."
He turned to face her, gazing down at her a moment in silence, before breaking it. "Sigyn, you're the princess. Everyone loves you. Me most of all," He smiled. "Calm down and walk with me. I can't go in without you."
She pursed her lips, nodding. Without another word, they entered the throne room - raucous applause greeted them. Loki lifted his head higher, somehow, cradling Sigyn's hand in his as they walked down the aisle. She grinned. The excitement and anticipation in the room was palpable.
Finally, the couple stopped. Loki released her, leaving her at the bottom step to take his place just between her and Frigga, the queen. She smiled down at Sigyn, who smiled back.
Across the way stood their friends - the Warriors Three, Volstagg, Hogun, and Fandral, along with Lady Sif. Fandral winked at Sigyn, causing Loki to shift his weight, clearing his throat. Sif nudged him, exchanging a playful, knowing look with Sigyn. Fandral was a flirt - but he would never dare to try and steal any spoken-for woman. Well... No one who was spoken for by a prince, anyway.
But then the crowd grew louder still. Thor made his way down the aisle, working up the crowd as everyone knew he would. He was the eldest prince, after all. Proud and full of charisma, with a handsome, charming smile. He tossed Mjolnir into the air and caught it - the crowd roared yet again.
Sigyn smirked, watching her brother..
Her brother, whom she adored.
Her brother, who would now be king. She looked up at Odin. The king, the Allfather- no. Father. Her gaze turned to Frigga. Mother.
Finally, she looked to Loki.
Everything.
Her heart fluttered, her cheeks feeling warm. She caught Loki's eye, and in an instant he turned to her, tilting his head slightly, his brows furrowed in worry. She gave him a warm smile and he, though despite clearly trying to withhold such a smile, returned it - his gaze lingering on her before turning to Thor who now knelt before the throne.
It was time.
Loki x Reader
This took me way longer than it should have do to school, little siblings and little cousins. Sorry!
Plus, My other two request for the anons are almost done!
Warnings: I wrote i=this way too late at night cuz its my only free time and my editing skill goes down after three am sorry.
Requested by @scorpionchild81
how about a Loki x reader: after an argument, Tony makes a bet with Loki and Thor, who was the better seducer. Tony also wanted proof of progress in hand from the two gods... But what happpens when true feelings get involved and when heart really break? All ends up that reader slaps Loki yelling "A bet? I was just a stupid bet?!" Angsty, sad, fluffy - do the oneshot as you wish…
I made it Gender Neutral btw!
         The Avengers, and Loki, who had helped with their mission, were having a party in honor of their success. Usually there wasn't any sort of celebration, except shawarma, of course. However, this had been a very important mission, with two years of work and danger leading up to it. You were talking to Steve and drinking wine, oblivious to the conversation only a small distance away from you.
________________________________________________________________
        "So Thor, you found a girlfriend here on Earth yet?" The host of the party, Tony, asked the blonde god sitting at the bar.
      "I have not," Thor turned around to face Tony, slushing his glass full of Asgardian mead. Beside him, Loki snickered. "Not since I stopped courting Jane."
      "That's no surprise," Thor laughed.
      "You mock me, and yet I haven't seen you with anyone yet. Do not be so bold, brother," Loki took another sip of his mead.
      "I could take my pick of any man or woman here, if I were interested," Tony raised his eyebrows.
      "Oh really? You think you're the best seducer here?" Loki was unfazed by Tony's comment
      "They don't call me Silver Tongue as a jest, you know," he said.
      "Well in that case, Asgard must have pretty low standards. I'm clearly the best seducer here." Thor let out a hearty laugh.
      "But I have courted the most out of us! It seems that I just cannot be resisted."
      "And perhaps that would be impressive, if any of those courtships lasted for more than a fortnight." said Loki dryly. Tony smirked.
      "Well, there is an easy way to solve this," Thor inclined his head, looking interested, and asked,
      "Which is?"
      "A bet, of course. I suppose you gods have bets?"
      "But of course! We have the greatest, most dangerous bets. I remember once - "
      "And what do you propose we bet?" Loki cut his brother off. Tony took a minute to think.
      "Fifty bucks?" he suggested. Loki looked confused,
      "Bucks? Why would I need bucks? Seems like a nuisance to have around."
      "What? No, not the animal, the -" This time, it was Thor who interrupted.
      "I believe it is a form of Midgardian currency. The Dollars have several names," he looked at Tony for confirmation, "correct?"
      "Uh, yeah. Anyways, you good with that?" Thor and Loki nodded. "Okay. So, now we need to pick a person."
      "Why can we not each choose a different one?" Loki asked
      "Well I mean, it wouldn't exactly be fair that way? Like, one of us could get someone easy to seduce, say, Banner, leaving the other with someone harder, like Nat."
      "Maybe Maria Hill?" Thor shook his head soon after he spoke though. "No, that would be far too difficult, even for me." Loki scanned the crowd. He saw (y/n) dancing clumsily with Steve and Sam. He smirked. It was the perfect opportunity… He had been wanting to speak to you, but he was seized by a strong sense of nervousness when you approached. But now, if everything went well, he'd get to be with you. If not, he could just say it was a bet. It was perfect.
      "What about (y/n)?" When Loki made the suggestion, the other two turned to look at them as well.
      "That," Tony looked at the other two. "Sounds like a bet"
_____________________________________________________________________________________
        Three days after the party, you noticed something strange about a certain trio. Thor had been showing off, winking, and telling stories, most of which seemed very exaggerated, much more often. Tony had been flirting and using cheesy pickup lines almost non-stop. Although you usually took the time to flirt back, it was still rather confusing. Even more so when you were talking with Maria, who said she hadn't been experiencing the same things.
      Loki had changed too, but in a much more discreet way. For the first two days after the party, you would catch him looking at you. He would smile at you then look away, and occasionally raise his eyebrows when you saw him. One the third day you ran into the him on your way to breakfast, and he spoke to you this time,
      "You're looking lovely today. Is that a new shirt?" You blushed and looked at your (f/c) shirt.
      "Um.. Uh yeah.. It is." You stuttered your response, and to try to make up for the awkward words you gave him a nervous smile. He returned it with a smile of his own.
      "Very nice. Well, I'll see you around."
      "Uh.. Yeah. See you.. Um.. See you around." Watching you walk away towards the kitchen, he smiled to himself.
      They're so cute.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
        Two more days passed like this. Cheesy flirting between you and Tony, annoying flirting from Thor, and… Loki. He complemented you in the hall every morning. You wanted have a conversation with him, he was so fascinating, so you woke up earlier. Hopefully you'd meet him in the kitchen.
      When your alarm when off, you woke up immediately. Loki was probably the only good reason to do that. You hurriedly got ready, and rushed to the kitchen.
      "Looks like somebody woke up early." The god of mischief was sitting on the counter, eating a waffle. There was a book by his side.
      "Oh.. Yeah. I was hungry." He patted the counted beside him.
      "You can share my food if you want."
      "Oh.. Okay." You jumped up beside him and he passed you the plate. You took a bite and gestured to the book beside him. "The Silmarillion? I like that one." He smiled.
      "Yes, it is rather interesting. I'm about halfway through."
      "Has Feanor burnt the boats yet?"
      "Pardon?"
      "Never mind!" Loki laughed.
      "Don't go around spoiling books for everyone love." Love? Did Loki just call you love? He chuckled, "You're blushing." You blushed more.
      "Um.. No.. No I'm not! You're blushing." You were surprised to see that your statement was true when you looked at him. Now he was the flustered one.
      "I.. I'm not blushing. It's just.. A bit warm in here, that's all." You laughed and pushed a stray hair from his face.
      "Well, neither am I." You were looking right into his eyes. His beautiful eyes. You found a sudden burst of confidence within yourself. "You know Loki, you're.. Really handsome." He was blushing again. You had made Loki, the Loki, blush.
      "You're not so bad yourself." You looked at his hand. How would he react if you held it. You could reach out, all you had to do was reach for it…
      "Oh, just get a room you two"
      You and Loki turned around to look at the newcomer. Sam sat with his legs propped on the table watching you.
      "I - How long have you been here?" you asked. He shrugged.
      "Around the boat burning part."
      "Oh. Well, I guess I should go train now. Bye Loki." You hurried out of the room while Sam laughed at your awkwardness, leaving Loki looking slightly crestfallen behind you.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
        It had been two months. Loki and you were something like a couple, but nothing official yet. You held hands, and kissed a couple times, but as of now there was no label.
      "Hi Loki!" you ran to greet him in the hall. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he gave you a sweet kiss.
      "Hello Darling." he smiled at you. "I was looking for you."
      "What for?"
      "Well, I need to ask you something." Your heart skipped a beat. What was it? Was it good or bad?
      "Yes?" you asked, worried about the response.
      "Would you.. Would you like to court me?" A slow smile grew on your lips.
      "Yes! Yes, I'd love to!" He smiled and kissed you again.
      "In that case, how about you meet me tonight for dinner? I'll take you somewhere fit for my Queen."
_____________________________________________________________________________________
         "Hey (y/n), Loki told us you two were courting. Is that true?" Thor had stopped you in the hall two days later.
      "Yes, it is." you smiled. However, Thor's and Tony's reaction was incredibly surprising.
      "Damn it!" Tony slammed his glass on the table. "He won the bet!"
        "Bet?" Thor laughed.
        "But of course you wouldn't know! Tony, Loki and I made a bet on who was the best seducer at the last celebration. It appears Loki has won!" You stared at him in shock.
      "I - Oh.. Okay." You rushed out of the room before they could see you cry.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
        You ran upstairs and pounded on Loki's door. You didn't listen for an answer, you just waited for him to open the door.
      "(Y/n)! What happened darling?" You pushed him back and slammed the door.
      "Don’t call me Darling!"
      "(y/n/n), what's the matter?"
      "A bet! I was just a stupid bet!?" Loki's eyes widened in realization. He pinched the bridge of his nose.
      "Oh no darling, no, you don't understand"
      "I understand perfectly!" You slap him, the echo ringing through the room in a satisfying manner, "You think you can just mess with my feeling and get away with it don't you!"
        "No no, that's not, no, I never meant to hurt you!" You let out something between aa laugh and a sob.
        "You have a funny way of showing it!" You started to cry freely. You didn't want Loki to see it, but you couldn't hold it back. Of course he never loved you. Just when you thought he might, he didn't.
      "Oh, my love, no, don't cry. You can hit me and punch me all you want, but I don't want to see your heart broken. Please."
      "You should have thought about that earlier." He walked closer to you, then tentatively pushed your chin up to look at him.
      "Listen to me, please." You were going to yell, but his eyes were filled with tears and sincerity. Maybe… Maybe he was bring honest
      "It started as a bet, yes. Well, no. I was attracted to you beforehand, but the bet gave me a chance to speak to you and a safety net if you didn't react well. Then.. Well then I spoke to you. You were kind, and beautiful, and sweet. You're the most perfect person I've ever met. I should've told you. Please love, forgive me."
      He looked at the floor and you hesitated. Both you and Loki were crying. After a few minutes, you took a deep breath and whispered a response.
      "Okay." He looked up
      "What?"
      "I forgive you." Loki looked into your eyes, and you looked into his before kissing each other passionately. His lips tasted like tea, and a bit salty from your tears.
      You never wanted to let go of him.
Empty Space
A/N: If you want to be tagged in any of my posts, let me know. Due to the new rules, my masterlist can only be accessed from my bio. So please go check that out, and give it some love. Reblogs are always appreciated, as is feedback. That stuff really makes me want to write.
REQUESTS ARE OPEN
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Warnings: You might wanna grab some tissues
Genre: Angst
Summary: The reader and Loki had a bad breakup, and when their friends decide to take them out to get over each other. Well, it doesn’t exactly end too well.
Requested by Anon: “Hello, can you do one with Loki based on the song Empty space by James Arthur? Thank you”
  I don’t see you
  Ever since we broke up we both avoided each other like the plague. Thanks to FRIDAY, I haven’t seen Loki in about a month. Which, is probably for the best. Considering after the last time we spoke, I had a broken heart. And I have a rule, you break something of mine, I break something of yours. I knew exactly what I would break. It would be his stupidly handsome, smirking face.
  You’re not in every window I look through
  Apparently, I was “Sulking” and I needed to stop “moping” around. Or at least that’s what Nat and Wanda said as they dragged me shopping. Not that it really helped, because every outfit I saw through a window or tried on, all I could think about was him. Loki would have loved this. I found myself with a wardrobe full of green, black, and gold in my hands.
  And I don’t miss you, You’re not in every single thing I do
  Every single time I looked in a mirror I could see the parts of me he loved so much, my eyes that used to sparkle and my lips with the smile everyone knew. Before I knew it I found myself with a wardrobe full of green, black, and gold in my hands. I bought it all, despite the disapproving looks on the girls' faces.
  I don’t think we’re meant to be, and you are not the missing piece
 When I returned to the compound I immediately heard his voice, and my mind flashed back to that fateful night, almost a month ago.
   “You can’t go on any more missions.” Loki declared as he sat by my hospital bed.
   “You can’t say that. You are not the boss of me.” I barely managed to get the words out, having just woken up from a coma.
  “Well then,  I don’t think we’re meant to be, and you are not the missing piece.” With tears in my eyes, I flopped my face into my pillow after screaming for Loki to get out.
  I won’t hear it, whenever anybody says your name.
  Later that night we had a girl’s night, something we hadn’t done in years. So, we were hanging out at a bar, and Nat and Wanda decided to butt into my love life.
  “Maybe what you need is someone to take your mind off Loki,” Wanda asked as she pointed in the direction of some guy.
  “I’m fine. I just need time.” I answered as I took a drink.
  “Well, your time’s up. The guys are here.” Nat announced as she spotted the other avengers at another table.
  And I won’t feel it
  My mind went completely numb as my eyes took in the back of Loki. He was wearing the suit I loved, the one with the yellow accents. He chose it because of his mom, and that made it all the more sweeter. My heart betrayed me though, as it longed to be near him again. But I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t get hurt again. So I did what I did best, ignore my problems.
  Even when I’m bursting into flames
  I looked over once again, only to see Loki with another woman. My heart shattered once again, and every inch of my skin lit with the blazes of every ounce of anger I’d ever felt. I excused myself and ran to the bathroom, only to collapse on the floor. Flames began to burst at my palms, spreading up my arms. But they stopped once I started sobbing.
  I don’t regret the day I left
  “Subject 261, report to the lab.” The intercom buzzed in my room.
  As I walked along the sterile hallways, my heart racing with fear, flames erupted out of my palms. This had never happened before, I was always a “placebo patient,” as they called me. All that meant was that I was a scientific failure. Not that it was real science, more like torture.
  A plan hatched in my mind as I passed the exit. I was getting out. Unlocking the door was easy, I just burned it off. I walked outside and felt the Alaskan chill, but too me it wasn’t bad. Any normal human would have gone right back inside, especially since all I was wearing was my Hydra-Issued bloodstained T-Shirt and a pair of cotton mini-shorts.
  There were no alarms as I left. I left no trace. I simply left, walked hundreds of miles, caught a plane to New York. And so Y/N L/N, a.k.a. Pheonix was born.
  I don’t believe that I was blessed, I’m probably lying to myself again
  “Your powers are not a curse Y/N, they’re a blessing. It took me a while to realize that too. But I know one day you’ll understand. And I’ll be right there with you. Every step of the way.” Loki said as he hugged me in my arms, having found me locked in my room, on fire.
  I didn’t believe it then, I don’t believe it now. But I smiled and tried to. Because I loved him, and he loved me. Oh, how much has changed. Gone were the days I lied to myself and him that I loved myself. Now are the days I hate myself and know he does to. The one I gave my heart to, broke it.
  I’m alone in my head
  I sat on the floor of the bathroom stall, rocking back and forth sobbing. Nothing but me and my memories. Happy memories, some tainted. Memories of betrayal and hurt. Pain. I sat there for a few minutes, just dying inside.
  But I knew I had stuff to do, so I cleaned myself up and reapplied my makeup. Walking out there with a fake smile, pretending everything was just fine. That my heart wasn’t shattered, again. Because once something breaks, it never fits back together perfectly again. I knew that my friends would see right through me, so I went to go make some new ones.
  Looking for love in a stranger’s bed, but I don’t think I’ll find it
  I found my way to a guy sitting at the bar alone, drinking away his problems. “Need a little company?”
  “Yeah, a little company wouldn’t hurt sweet-cheeks.” His voice was raspy, burned by the liquor.
  “I think we all could use a little company.” My voice cracked as I spoke, which he noticed.
  “What’s on your mind?” He seemed to generally want to hear, so I told him about the break-up.
  “Well, that’s a lot. That’s for sure. But, if you really love him, you can make things right.” He said.
  ‘Cause only you, could fill this empty space.
  I thought for a minute, but I realized this man was right. If I really love Loki, I have to talk to him. It’s the only way. He’s the only thing that makes me feel complete. Without him, I’m broken. With him I’m still broken, but maybe broken’s not so bad.
  I wanna tell all my friends, but I don’t think they would understand
  I walked back to the table with a smile on my face and a bounce in my step, until it fell. They wouldn’t understand. They would think I’m just desperate. That I need to let go. That I need to get over him. But I can’t. It’s something I’ve decided. ‘Cause only you, could fill this empty space.
Space, space. This empty space
LOKI POV
  The girls were flirting with all of us, but I couldn’t bring myself to flirt back. They weren’t right. They weren’t Y/N. It sounds stupid, especially since I had been so cruel, that I told her she meant nothing to me. But, I just, I loved her too much. After that mission, I was scared. I couldn’t lose her. Not again.
  ‘Cause only you, could fill this empty space
  But all it left was an empty space, one no other person could fill. No matter how hard I tried. It was just an empty void made of tears and memories, the last thing I have of her that’s mine. An empty bed every night. And the team’s pestering about a rebound. But I couldn’t it hurt too much to even try.
  I’ve been drinking, I’ve been doin things I shouldn’t do,
Y/N POV
  Somewhere along the course of the night I lost count of how many drinks I’d had, but it was no low number. All that I was doing was drinking and dancing, that’s what the girls wanted, right? I mean, if he could do it, so can I.
  “Hey Sweet Thang, wanna dance?” I didn’t even answer as I strutted right on over, smirk on my face.
  The music throbbed so hard I could feel it. My hands around his neck, and his inching closer and closer to my buttox. Just out of the corner of my eye I saw Loki looking at me, and with a bit of courage, I kissed the random guy I was dancing with.
  Overthinking, I don’t know who I am without you
LOKI POV
 There she was, dancing with some pathetic mortal scum, my girl. Well, she was. Seeing her out there so happy made me wonder, was I even good enough for her? Probably not. I mean, she was the only good thing to ever happen to me. Without her, I’m nothing. Not anymore.
  I’m a liar and a cheat, I let my ego swallow me, and that’s why I may never see you again
  I lost her, all because I was scared of losing her. I didn’t realize how true the saying “You make the thing that destroys you,” was until now. But it’s true, I created my worst fear. She’s gone. And all because of some stupid lie.
  She wasn’t the missing piece, she was my everything. But I tried to control her, make her leave. And now, now she’s dancing in someone else’s arms. And I’m alone in my head, and she’s looking for love in a strangers bed. You know, maybe I should try, maybe I’ll find love in a stranger. But I don’t think I’ll find it. ‘Cause only you, could fill this empty space.
  I wanna tell all my friends, but I don’t think they would understand
  My heart hurt with the wisdom I had discovered. When someone’s in love, it doesn’t stop hurting. My first thought was to tell the guys, but I don’t think they would understand. It's something I’ve decided. ‘Cause only you could fill this empty space. Space, Space. It’s the only thing inside me now, just space. Nothing but this empty space. Space, Space. ‘Cause only you, could fill this empty space.
  How could I make you love me?
   The more I though about it, the more I realized. There was no way she ever loved me. What was there to love anyway? Some broken prince, a villian. No, she could never love me. I could never make her love me. Not in a million years.
Thor had been watching the doors all night, waiting for nothing and everything. When he saw you walk in by yourself, he followed your form all the way to the bar. Your hips swayed unapologetically as you walked through the crowded room. The music pumping loudly through the air, you could already feel yourself loosening up by taking your first few steps inside. Even though he didn't know you, he could feel something primal erupting inside of him. He was sat in a VIP booth, courtesy of Tony, with Steve, Bucky, and Sam. He watched as you leaned against the bar, and flipped your hair over your shoulder. He immediately stood up from his spot on the couch and paid no attention to the others guys questions as to where he was going. This was the first time here on Earth there was a woman that stood out in his eyes. That was HIS type of beautiful and HIS type of confident. He wasn’t about to let you slip out without even introducing himself.
When he had approached you, you were unsure if he was talking to you or someone next to you. When your eyes met his, your breath was taken away at his stature. His chest reached your eye level, and you shifted your head up so you could see the man standing beside you. You knew exactly who he was, though he was much more impressive in person. You watched his large hands as he called over the bartender ordering you another drink, on him. You both talked all night, his flirting was so intense that he was about overdoing it, but you didn’t say anything. You took him home to your apartment that night and the rest was history, he really hasn’t left your side much other than meetings at the Tower or you going to work, and even then he had lunch with you.
You didn’t know much about him, other than the fact that he wasn’t from here, and he had a brother. Thor didn’t like to share details on his side. He always became fidgety and directed the conversation back to you. The real reason he didn’t share much was that he was afraid that it would be too weird for you and you would get overwhelmed. He knew his life was anything but your version of ordinary, but that didn't fly past you. You knew he was a god. Regardless, he was afraid of losing you to his unusual lifestyle. You were a treasure and he was grateful that you enjoyed his company just as much.
Things were starting to get serious, and it was obvious that this relationship was leaning towards long term. He invited you to Tony’s birthday party. Pepper was throwing it, and it was anything but a surprise.
The music pumping through the common room was very loud, making it hard to speak with people around you. You tried mingling with others around you but you didn’t have much luck unless you were standing super close, or yelling at each other. You eventually retired to the bar top, giving up on trying to meet people that Thor flooded his daily life with.
Natasha was behind the bar mixing you a drink focusing on her mixing. You could feel eyes on you, and you couldn't yet tell if it made you uncomfortable yet. Your eyes scanned the room but didn’t see anyone staring. You saw Thor across the room speaking to Steve, but he looked over and his eyes met yours giving you a small smile and a wink. you quickly returned his smile and sent a small wave in his direction, letting him continue his conversation. Your attention was brought back by a drink being set in front of you.
“Thanks girl, what is it?” You said looking at it quizzically.
“I have no idea,” she said smirking. You gave her a weary look, but took a swig any way. You still felt eyes on you again, and couldn’t shake the feeling. Your eyes scanned again, completely unknowingly skipping over Thor’s intense gaze, and landing on a man walking towards you. His black hair laid slicked back, and his smile was smooth. His eyes locked with yours and they felt icy. A chill ran down your spine at his presence closing in on you. Your eyes scanned his face and over his smooth skin, coming into a clearer view. His features were sharp and perfectly crafted. When he reached the bar his hand reached out towards you.
“My names Loki, and you are?” His voice was silky as he introduced himself. You were too polite to ignore the nagging feeling in your heart and your hand landed in his. He brought it up to his lips with a cold kiss landing on your knuckles, your blood chilling at the contact.
“(Y/n),” you spoke quickly pulling your hand from his cold grasp. Goosebumps rose over your arms, not going unnoticed by him.
“(Y/n) might I say you look ravishing in that dress,” he spoke smoothly, leaning in so you could hear him better. You blushed under his gaze and looked anywhere but his eyes. Although his aura was daunting, you couldn't deny his handsome looks and smooth talk. His hand reached for your chin to pull your face back up to meet his and a gasp left your throat, startled again by his chilled finger tips.
 Suddenly a hand was quickly felt wrapping around your hip and a warming presence behind you. Loki quickly dropped his hand from your face and stood up straight, simultaneously adjusting his black blazer. His eyes met the figure standing behind you with a harsh stare, his lips pressed in a hard line.
You leaned into Thor, reveling in the feeling of his body heat. His large hand ran up and down your arm warming it and diminishing the goosebumps that had made an appearance. A heavy breath left your lungs, happy that he was here breaking Loki’s uncomfortable attention off of you. Thor’s arms snaked around your waist and he encased you in his arms protectively. His head rested in the crook of your neck, making it known that no one was to touch you but him. Your heart warmed at his actions and you placed your hands on top of his grasp. You knew what he was trying to achieve, making sure this ‘Loki’ knew you were his. You were getting to see a possessive side of him and you couldn’t say you hated it.
“Hello Brother,” Loki spoke firmly. Eyes unwavering from Thors. Your shoulders tensed up at his words.
“Loki,” he firmly stated, ignoring his presence. He placed a quick kiss on your neck, and you leaned farther into him.
“Uh, it’s, uh, nice to meet you,” you tried to form the words to Loki, but we’re having trouble with Thor’s show he was putting on.
“Darling, the pleasure is all mine,” the words rolling off his tongue like silk. His daring hand reached up again to grab mine from Thor’s grasp. Thor quickly darted his hand out and sealed a death grip on his brothers wrist, twisting it away and leaving Loki at his will. His other arm tightening around your waist.
“Touch her again, and I’ll break your neck,” his voice was low and pointed. You gasped at his tone. His head was still lowered by your neck, his voice was booming in your ear, and his scruff tickling your shoulder. You reached your hand up and placed it on Thor’s assaulting arm, giving it a push downward.
“Thor, it’s fine,” you said assuredly. Why was he so protective all of the sudden? Could Loki really be that bad? You felt his grip soften under your touch. Loki soon ripped his hand out out of his grasp and drew his hand in to rub it. Thor didn't flinch at the swift movement but you watched Loki with curious eyes and amusement playing on your features.
“Must you act like a Neanderthal in front of the ladies?” Loki edged him on. Thor reclaimed his earlier position ignoring his nagging and nestled his head into your neck. Loki walked away with a scoff, not bothering to stick around to view his brothers affection.
Thor left a trail of kisses from your collar bone up to the base of your neck before nipping with his teeth at your pulse point. You moaned at his touch and leaned into him. Warmth flooded through your body, electricity flowing between you both.
“No one gets to touch you but me,” his low voice sending a shock down your figure, straight to your heat. Your eyes quickly danced around the room to make sure no one was watching his sudden burst of jealousy. His hold on your hips pushed back against his own, feeling his hard length against the small of your back.
“Oh shit,” you whispered. You didn’t realize how dominant he had gotten. You turned around in his grasp and met his lips in a hard kiss. Your hands clasped behind his neck and tangling into his hair, while he pulled you close to him. His lips and tongue expertly moved against your own in a fight to claim you. Not much fight was put up as you melted into his touch. His hands roamed down the dress leading to your ass, giving it a squeeze.
“Uh, should we, uh,” you spoke breathlessly into his kiss, unable to form a sentence.
“Yes,” Thor said quickly, already knowing what you were trying to say. He pulled away and dragged you through the busy room to the elevators.
Hopeless? Loki x reader fic
A/N this is based on this post from @the-modern-typewriter: Shh, it’s alright” the villain said. “You’re doing beautifully and I’m so proud of you. But that’s enough now. It was cruel of them to make you fight me - you could never have won. It’s not your fault.” I also talked to @lokixme about writing this because I know they wanted to do something with it as well. I’m looking forward to reading their version!! Anyway, this is my take on that post:
——————————
In the six months Y/N had been at SHIELD she had quickly risen through the ranks to become a trusted operative to none other than Nick Fury himself. He would send her on all the important mission that came up. When the time came to thaw out Captain America and tell him about the new world he was living in, Fury trusted only a handful of individuals for the task. Y/N was one of the select few.
She quickly became friends with Steve Rogers and helped him assimilate to modern life as much as possible. They would train together and she would let him talk as much or as little as he wanted. She understood that he must’ve been suffering from extreme amounts of PTSD and not to mention the confusion of waking up in a world so foreign to him. He confided in her about Bucky and Peggy. Two important people in his life who he had lost. He told her about facing the Red Skull and about Hydra. How he thought he was making the ultimate sacrifice by going down with that plane only to be awoken years later and everything he had ever known had been lost to time.
When it was time for Steve to help SHIELD track down the person who had gotten a hold of the Tesseract, Loki, both Director Fury and Steve had been adamant about Y/N coming as well. In truth, this was her biggest mission to date. As far as she knew, Loki was from another planet and the Tesseract was an object from space. However, she wanted to impress Director Fury and help Steve as much as possible so she agreed to go on the mission.
When Y/N and Steve first got on the helicarrier it was a little intimidating to say the least. She had heard stories about the infamous black widow but had never actually met her during her short time at SHIELD. Natasha seemed nice enough but Y/N knew it was probably a front, no assassin comes without baggage. Y/N also got a chance to meet Dr. Banner, who she had done research on in the past. His work with gamma radiation was groundbreaking and she was looking forward to picking his brain about it later. However, that would have to wait. Not too long after Y/N and Steve got inside the ship the team had managed to track down Loki to Stuttgart, Germany.
Y/N, Steve, and Natasha boarded a Quinjet and headed over to where Loki was. They weren’t sure what to expect but as they approached they saw something that made even Natasha gasp. Everyone was kneeling before a man in gold and green armor. He had a staff in his hand and wore a golden helmet with horns on it. He stood elegantly over them like that was where he was supposed to be, ruling over them. People began to protest but the man banged his staff on the pavement and it glowed blue and suddenly everyone was silent. He smiled mischievously before walking through the crowd and he began speaking to them. It was then that they all came to realize that this was indeed Loki. She only managed to hear some of what he was saying.
“It’s the unspoken truth of humanity,” Loki began, “that you crave subjugation.” Y/N couldn’t believe what she were hearing. Did he really think that this was the real wish of humanity? As long as she could remember and as long as humans have been around they’ve been trying to break free from oppression and slavery. Y/N started to feel her blood boil as a huge wave of anger rose over her. She wanted to scream that this wasn’t what humanity wanted and how dare he speak to anyone like that? What gave him the right? Before she could do anything she might regret Steve came over and put his hand on her shoulder. In all the time they had spent together he had become attuned to her emotions and could tell exactly what she was thinking.
“I know.” He spoke softly. “But he won’t get away with this, I won’t let him.” Steve said before he jumped out of the jet and in the street just in time from saving an old man from his demise at the hand of Loki’s scepter. Y/N couldn’t believe what she was seeing. The same Steve Rogers who was battling with PTSD and everything else life had suddenly thrown at him was about to take on a literal god. She wasn’t sure if Steve would be able to pull this off by himself, there was no way. When suddenly there was a system override as none other than Tony Stark descended in his Iron Man suit ready for a fight. The next thing Y/N knew, Stark and Steve were bringing Loki onto the jet.
“Y/N, I was wondering when I would see you again.” Stark said with a flirty wink.
“Stark.” Y/N replied as a response while she rolled her eyes. She had met Stark three months prior, when Fury asked her to go check up on him, as a precaution. As she was expecting, he didn’t give her much info but did flirt with her a lot which she was quite vocal in her distaste about.
“You two know each other?” Steve asked the young woman, with a confused expression on his face. She mouthed back that she would tell him about it later, they had more pressing god-like matters on their hands at the moment.
Suddenly flashes of lightning and roars of thunder could be heard outside of the cabin and the jet began to shake. Steve grabben Y/N’s arm in an attempt to stabilize them and she was thankful, as she probably would’ve fallen otherwise. Steve then noticed Loki’s uneasy behavior and questioned if he was afraid of lightning.
“I’m not overly fond of what follows.” Loki replied, looking rather concerned for his safety at the moment. This was the first time Y/N had heard him speak up close and she couldn’t deny that his voice did have an effect on her. She figured it had something to do with him being a god and before she could think anything else on the matter, Stark opened the door on the Quinjet and another Asgardian came through. In one swift motion he grabbed Loki and flew out of the jet. A moment later Stark had left the jet as well, ready to fight the other god and recapture Loki. Y/N was about to grab a parachute when Steve grabbed her by the arm.
“Y/N, you can’t go it’s too dangerous.” He said with a wary look in his eyes.
“Steve, I’ll be fine, this is what I trained to do.” She argued trying to break free from his grasp.
“Please, Y/N, I can’t lose you too.” He pleaded. Suddenly she understood, he had already lost so much he couldn’t lose someone he had just found. Nodding silently, Y/N released the parachute and sat down. Giving her a nod, Steve put on the parachute and jumped out of the plane. All she could hear from the Quinjet after that point was banging and occasionally a flash of light would illuminate the otherwise dark world outside. About twenty minutes later Steve and Tony returned to the jet with Loki and the other Asgardian who introduced himself as Thor.
When the Quinjet landed on the helicarrier Y/N went back to her room to write down all the intel she had gathered. It was something she picked up early on in her days at SHIELD. If she got back from a mission and wrote everything out as she remembered it happening, she was less likely to suffer from PTSD. Although her time at SHIELD was short, she had done plenty of life altering missions already. She heard a knock on her door and looked up to see Steve standing in her doorway. She smiled and gestured for him to come in. She couldn’t help but find it funny, the sight of him standing in her room in his star spangled outfit. He noticed her smiling and questioned her on it.
“What are you smiling about?” Steve said curiously.
“You.” Y/N replied. “You and your All American Outfit.”
“Is it a bad thing?” He questioned.
“No it’s refreshing. After tonight’s events I think I needed to see a little patriotism.” She said with a smile.
“You writing down the mission” He noted as he took a glance at the journal and pen next to where she sat on her bed.
“Yeah, there’s a lot to process here so I figured the sooner I write the better.” She replied softly, leafing through the various pages of her journal. This one was almost done and she doubted she would have enough room to write the entire mission by the time it was done. She felt the bed dip as Steve sat down next to her.
“Hey Y/N.” Steve said tentatively.
“Hmm?” She responded, still lost in thought.
“I wanted to thank you for getting me semi acclimated to life in the 21st century so I got you this.” He said as he reached into his bag and pulled out a new moleskin notebook. He handed it to her and she gasped as she opened it and heard the spine crack under her fingers.
“Steve! You didn’t have to do that!” She exclaimed with wide eyes.
“I know,” he responded sheepishly, “But I wanted to anyway.”
She engulfed him in a hug as she laughed into his neck. She couldn’t believe he would do something like that for her, they’ve only known each other for a few months. She heard someone clear their throat and she quickly got out of the Captain’s embrace. It was Dr. Banner, he said both of them had orders from Fury to meet on the bridge. Nodding, they both exited the room and followed Banner.
Fury informed the team that Loki was in custody and he wanted to send in people to possibly try and interrogate him. First would be Natasha, followed by Y/N. Y/n could feel her heart racing at the thought of the impending interrogation. She had interrogated people for information before but this man was a god. One whose voice also had an eerie effect on her that she couldn’t explain. Steve, sensing her hesitation and also being concerned for her safety, interjected.
“Sir, do you really think that’s the best idea? We have no clue what Loki is capable of. Why don’t you send Thor?” Steve protested.
“Captain, with all due respect. I’ve known Y/N for a lot longer than you have. You may not know what Loki is capable of but you also don’t know what Y/N is capable of. I believe sending her in is the right move. Unless of course she disagrees?” Fury challenged.
“No sir, I can do it.” Y/N responded, doing her best to straighten up and square her shoulders. She was no church mouse. The things she had seen and done to get into SHIELD and to make herself known in the director’s eye were enough to make any normal person run for the hills. She could handle this. She was trained for this.
After that everyone sat tense around the table as they watched Natasha interrogate Loki. The plan was simple, Natasha would rile him up and then Y/N would go in and be charming. Try and pry information from Loki by any means necessary. She was young and that would play to her advantage. Loki would more than likely underestimate her and that’s how she would win. After Natasha came back Y/N knew it was her turn to go. She stood up and Steve made a gesture to follow her but she held his shoulder firmly.
“Don’t” She said as she looked at him harshly. She knew if she were to do this she had to be in the right mind space and she couldn’t have anyone distracting her. She walked back to where Loki was being held and took a deep breath to calm her mind before she entered. She went over to the control board and started fiddling with switches. She heard Loki stand up and walk to the edge of the glass. Resisting the urge to look at him she continued to fiddle with the board, wanting him to make the first move.
“I was wondering when I would have the pleasure to formally meet you.” Loki said in a honeyed voice. His accent was enough to send shivers down Y/N’s spine but she tried her best not to show it.
“Believe me Loki, the pleasure’s all mine.” She replied as she turned to face him. She took a couple steps towards the glass to get a better look at him. He was slim yet muscular. Over six feet tall and wore green and gold armor. His onyx black hair was slicked back and he looked calm as he stood there with his hands behind his back.
“Tell me darling,” Loki began in that velvet voice of his, “why have you come to me?”
“Call it curiosity.” Y/N responded with a small smile playing on her lips.
“So it’s information you’re after. I’ll make a deal with you, I’ll answer your questions as long as you answer mine.” Loki mused as he moved toward her in his glass cell.
Y/N grabbed a chair and placed it in front of his cell, knowing this would take a while. “Fine, I’ll go first.” Y/N agreed as she sat down.
Loki made a gesture that gave Y/N the green light to ask away. “Why does a literal god like yourself want to come rule over Earth? Surly you have your own kingdom.” Y/N asked as she leaned forward and placed her elbows on her thighs.
“It is my divine right to rule and I was chosen specifically to rule over the human race.” Loki responded simply.
“Chosen by who?” she questioned.
“Tsk tsk tsk,” Loki started as he shook his head, “my turn to ask a question.”
“Ask away, I have nothing to hide.” Y/N responded.
“Oh I’m sure you don’t.” Loki began, “but your so called teammates do. Are you aware that Captain Rogers harbors feelings for you?” Loki inquired as he tilted his head to the side slightly with a bemused expression on his lips. He was trying to shock Y/N but it wouldn’t work. She was trained for deflection tactics like this. She kept her cool while she responded.
“How are you so sure?” Was all she asked.
“I’ve been around long enough to know the face of desire when I see it. I saw the way the Captain looked at you when you and the Man of Iron had your exchange. I saw the way he reached for you when my brother was rocking the ship. I wonder, has he come for your bed yet?” Loki asked cooly while waiting for Y/N’s reaction.
Y/N could feel her blood boiling, it was the same feeling she got when she first heard Loki speak in Germany. He was using everything he had to push her buttons but she wouldn’t give up without a fight.
“The deal was one question each Loki” Y/N stated. “Now it’s my turn.”
“Clever girl.” Loki replied with a chuckle. “Ask away, but just know, I always get answers.”
“You said someone sent you here, who?” Y/N continued the interrogation paying no mind to Loki’s taunts.
“I fear I cannot say.” Loki began, “Just know that he is more powerful than anyone you could imagine. He plans to rain fire on your precious Earth where the casualties will be the strongest.” Loki continued to gloat.
Y/N smiled as she had gotten the information she came for. Fury knew the battle wasn’t over and he expected it to take place somewhere big. With Loki’s affirmation that he and whoever he may be working with plan to target large cities that was all the information you needed from him.
“Thanks Loki, you’ve been a real help.” Y/N said as she began to walk away from him.
“He’ll never be able to give you what you need.” Loki said in a calm voice before before Y/N had gotten too far out of earshot.
Y/N turned slowly to look back at him, “Who?” she questioned.
“Your precious Captain Rogers. He’ll never be able to give you what you so desperately crave.” Loki pressed on.
“And what is that?” Y/N retorted.
“Subjugation. A chance to be free from your life. You who are in control of everything are the one who needs a release the most. Aren’t you tired of putting up a front? Of pretending you’re happy with your so called idea of freedom. Why are you the one cleaning up their messes? Wouldn’t you much rather relinquish control and let other people sort it out for once?” He questioned as he sauntered to the edge of his glass container where Y/N was standing.
“No.” She responded as strongly as she could, but she could hear the waver in her voice. The small part in her that might have agreed with him. Why was it her job to clean up other people’s messes? She wasn’t the one who pulled the Tesseract out from underwater and now the earth was paying the price. No, it was wrong to think like that. Just as soon as she had those thoughts she pushed them down as she left the interrogation room and went back to her room. She opened up her journal to write but saw the new one Steve had given her sitting on her drawer. Had what Loki said really been true? Did Steve have feelings for her? Before she could process it the ship began to shake and alarms began to sound. Through her earpiece she heard Director Fury announce that the Hulk was on the loose and they were under attack from an outside force.
Shit. She raced as fast as she could back to the interrogation room, sure Loki had something to do with this. But when she walked through the door her worst fear was realized. Not only had Loki been behind it, he had gotten out of his cage and now Thor was in the cage. She watched in horror as Loki stabbed Agent Coulson in the back. She let out an ear piercing scream as Loki sent Thor hurtling toward Earth. That’s when Loki turned his attention on her. He fired his scepter at her but she expertly ducked under it. She swiped her legs under Loki until he was on the ground with her. She straddled him and started throwing punches left and right. In retaliation, Loki picked her up and threw her across the room like she weighed nothing. Y/N stumbled to a stand and spit blood out of her mouth before reaching for her pistol. She fired several rounds at the Asgardian but none of the bullets seemed to phase him. He only let out an amused chuckle as he stalked closer to her. When the time was right she attempted to knee him in the crotch but he was too fast. In one swift motion he had taken her by the throat and held her up against the nearest wall. She was gasping for air under his hand and clawing at him to let her go. He let out a low chuckle as he raised the scepter to her forehead and uttered one word to her in a voice barely above a whisper, “sleep”.
Y/N awoke to her arms in shackles tethered to the wall behind her. She didn’t recognize her surroundings but could smell the dank air around her. She was trapped somewhere and that’s when her memories started coming back to her. She had fought Loki and he had won, easily overpowering her. She needed to get back to the team, what had come of them? Of the ship? She started thrashing and pulling on the restrains yelling to be released. One of Loki’s henchmen came in to see her and possibly taunt her but they got too close. She headbutted them and attempted to strangle them before two other men came in and rescued their teammate. The three of them then took turns kicking her until she coughed up more blood.
When she regained consciousness later she saw a figure looming in the corner only to realize it was Loki. She began thrashing again and spewing profanities at Loki. But all he did was calmly walk over to her a shush her.
“Shh it’s alright,” Loki said as he approached her and used his scepter to lift her chin to meet his eyes, “You’re doing beautifully and I’m so proud of you.” He said as he undid her restraints and effortlessly lifted her into his arms. “But that’s enough for now. It was cruel of them to make you fight me. You never could have won. It’s not your fault.” Loki finished as he led her into a room that appeared to be some sort of makeshift bedroom. He laid her down on the four poster bed among the black satin sheets and she was too weary and worn out to protest. He kissed her on the forehead as she lulled into sleep and he sat by her side and swept the hair away from her battered face, vowing to bring down SHIELD and everyone in it for sending in a child such as herself to fight a god, knowing she could never win.
Like Lovers Do
Tumblr media
Summary: He might have been a god, but you were a titan rising from hell and still, you fell so dearly for him, it was destined to fail, wasn´t it?
Words: 2.7k
Warnings: drinking, implied smut, kinda dark
A/N: I highly recommend listening to the song “Like Lovers do” by Hey Violet while reading. I didn´t have yet time to check for spelling mistakes so it might slightly change within the next days!
Halloween Imagines Masterlist
She stepped through the echoing hall like it already belonged to her. She was born for this, this simple but so crucial moment. In a matter of seconds that elapsed like waves crashing against the sore cliffs. Her perfectly curled hair, her sweet smile and the charm in her eyes. The tailored dress made for her body, fitted like second skin. Her natural glow illuminating the room and of course, all eyes were on her.
But then there was you.
The sister. Everything she had like it was her inherent right, you had to fight for. She was the golden star, but you were the storm crawling through the night sky, letting stars fall like hail. She could bring flowers to bloom, but under your feet the earth shook and bowed, afraid of your presence. You were two foreign princesses from a galaxy far away and your recently deceased mother, mentioned her last wish on her death bed. She hoped that one of you would marry a prince to help your realm. Obviously, she didn´t say a name, but with the last breath she took, it was clear who she had meant. You sister, Lakira, immediately took it upon herself to search for suitable contenders and when she heard about the god of thunder, it was impossible to stop her. Your father, who fulfilled each wish she had, agreed to the visit in Asgard. They would soon realize their mistake…
 Not all eyes were on her, on particularly blue-greenish pair, remained on you. You immediately caught his sight and a devilish smirk played on your blood red lips.
I see you watching me, eyes on your target Mix drinks and smoke rings, it's already started It won't be too long before me and you Are doing what lovers do You were wearing a black, simple dress, your hair open. The simple touch of a red lipstick flattering your dark aura. And he couldn´t take his eyes of you, the sweet smell of danger of pulling him in. He wore a green suit with golden details, Loki, Prince of Asgard, Odinson, the rightful King of Jotunheim, God of Mischief. He could feel the vibrations from your powerful figure and he didn´t mistake them as your sisters. He could sense that there was more lingering under your skin that appeared to be such a sober shroud. And while the kingdoms greeted each other with fine chosen words and compliments, you two started to play a game, either way losing like lover do.
“It is an honor to greet you here, when you have such a long journey behind you, King.” Odin greeted your father and they shook hands. Your father, a good head smaller than the king and his two sons, offered him a noble smile. The god of thunder gawked at Lakira, but besides her beauty, there was nothing about her that attracted him to her. A pretty face to hide a shallow character. You often reminded yourself that it wasn´t her fault, she was born like that. And at certain, scarce moments, when you two were completely alone, you could see behind her smile. And when you two shared the intimate and sacred times of being just simple sisters, you loved her so dearly, it broke your heart. But you could also see that for Thor´s heart another woman already had the key, which made this whole occasion miserable to watch.
The dinner began and while almost everybody lightly chatted with each other, you and Loki constantly locked eyes. Yet, he couldn´t fully figure out where your thoughts wandered when behind your eyes appeared the darkness of a galaxy. But the tension kept going until the desert was served. You both sat across each other, just like Lakira and Thor. The skill of disappearing in invisible shadows so that everybody forgot about your presence, was a simple skill you had perfected over the years. And now the shadows cloaked the God of Mischief as well. The desert, a typical Asgardian mousse  with sweet fruits was neatly placed in front of you, but after your first bites of the sweet taste, you laid your golden spoon back on the table. The mood was lightening and the talks began to get louder. “Excuse, I´m going to the bathroom, I´ll be back in just a second.” You explained bitter sweetly, even though only Loki heard your voice. He watched you leave and his eyes couldn´t resist wandering down your curved body, wondering how your skin felt without the silk hiding it´s beauty. After two more passing minutes, in which neither Thor nor anyone else of the present guests realized your missing, Loki excused himself as well. The more distance got between him and the hall, the quicker his feet hit the ground. He thought to find you in your chambers, but just before turning the corner, he accidently lurked up the stairs which led to the observation platform and he caught sight of a thin layer of smoke hovering in the air. He followed the trace and found you on the observation deck.
Clothes on the floor, we're exploring our bodies Getting you off is my new favorite hobby Lipstick on your neck brands like a tattoo 'Cause that just how lovers do With big steps he encountered you and you grabbed his shirt and pulled him closer. He slightly leaned down to you while your hands embraced his neck and your lips connected with his. The beauty of the passionate kiss was the synchronized rhythm. The way your tongues played with each other, but with harmony and gracefully you embraced each other, just to feel the closeness. Two lovers on a bridge in front of a kingdom with galaxies decorating the background. A picture that was quickly engraved on your mind.
Ooh, love is just another four letter word But that never stopped nobody Ooh, either way we lose Just like lovers, just like lovers do “Wow that was… stunning.” Loki admitted, his arm around your bare shoulders. You chuckled while drawing lines on his skin. Out of your finger escaped dark sparkles which then faded into the air. The sun had set and through the open window blew a soft breeze. “And I thought this unsuccessful journey would be boring.” You admitted, he kept quiet. After a long time passing he spoke up again. “Why unsuccessful?” “Because it was the plan that Lakira would seduce your brother, but his heart already belongs to another woman.” He was surprised. Loki watched you thoughtful, it was very rare that somebody could surprise him. After all it was in his nature to be in control at all given times, but you created chaos in him. A pleasant chaos. “You know about her?” “It´s hard not to see.” “For you. Your sister is still left in the dark.” You hummed in response but then you sat up. The blankets slipped away when you left the bed and started picking up your clothes from the floor again. Loki sat up. “You´re leaving?” He asked confused and again, he wondered why you caused such abnormalities. You laughed while already putting back on your dress. A laugh he couldn´t yet read. You eyed yourself in his mirror on last time, rearranging your hair and checking your makeup, then you turned to him. “Yes.”
His and hers closets are perfect for skeletons Hiding resentment and shared infidelities Cheers to regret, wash it down with some booze Drinking like lovers do
Days passed, and a wonderful reversal changed colors in Asgard. The leaves on the dress started to shifted to a warm red-orange, and the sea verging on the mountains appeared in a glowing turquoise, which created a stunning view. Behind the mountains was the dark grey unknown and thunder hollered in the far. Your sister and father didn´t have any success yet and you didn´t dare to open their eyes. It was rather amusing to watch Lakira flirt with all weapons, when Thor was only focused on training. And your father wasn´t any better. He tried his best to built a strong bond with Odin, who seemed more annoyed by him with each encounter. Sadly, the more aggressive Odin got, the more he let it out on Loki. You could see his struggles to keep up with the image of being the adoptive son. It reminded you of your own fate. Sometimes you could still feel the blame your father laid on your shoulders that you never rose to his standards.
And when dinner was finished, Loki and you shared your thoughts and drowned them with booze. The burning taste of liquor running down your throat let you forget your conscience and filled your mind with the lingering picture of Loki´s lips that you craved. And when the bottle was emptied the tickling touch against his skin fulfilled you.
Ooh, love is just another four letter word But that never stopped nobody Ooh, either way we lose Just like lovers, just like lovers do Weeks passed and even Lakira had now accepted that Thor would never be hers. Only your father remained pounding on the imagination that Thor, his new son-in-law, would come and safe his realm. Lakira had also noticed your thing with Loki, but for now she had been quiet about it. You guessed she would eventually come and question you about it, so you purposely avoided her and spent even more at Loki´s chambers.
Loki, God of Mischief, in whom you had found sympathy and you opened up to his calming character. Just now you sat at the end of his bed on the floor, a book laying on your knees, reading. Loki who sat across you, leaned against the brown arm-chair, glanced up from time to time. When you caught him, he smiled sheepishly and you grinned jubilant. You had been there for two hours reading and the relaxed morning was accompanied by the smell of tea. It was perfect.
The sudden knock of a servant surprised you both and quickly you hid inside an adjoining room, but your ears were sharpened. “The King and the princesses will leave Asgard, a sudden sickness had afflicted their country.” He made a break, thinking if he should share his thoughts with the Prince. “I don´t think they´ll ever come back. Their country has been so destroyed, especially without their King there and with this deadly sickness, it will be only a question of time.” Loki´s jaw dropped, the situation took an unexpected turn. He could only stutter his answer, unable to form clear thoughts. “Yes… Yes, I will be coming to farewell the king… In just minute.”
When he closed the door shut and turned to look for you, you had disappeared and he cursed over your abilities to vanish. Of course, you had heard the news and the shattering truth had hit you hard. Especially because you had no idea. Angrily you stormed inside your sister´s chambers without knocking. “What sickness?!” You yelled and she flinched surprise. “Y/N what are talking about?”
Your angry façade dropped and was knocked out of the skies. She didn´t know it neither.
That's how it goes so take it like a grown-up Life's not a fairytale, it's time to own up Hire a hitman to take care of you And end it like lovers do You didn´t want to see him, you couldn´t see him. Deep inside you knew you wouldn´t be able to handle it, so you quickly disappeared in the space ship with the typical colors of your home. You told your servant you weren´t feeling well and they politely offered you to lay down. Hot tears ran down your cheeks and your mouth was shaking, trying to keep in the sobs. When the feeling of the ship lifting off the ground echoed in your cabin, you felt a slight ease. But then you remembered what was waiting for you at your home and dark images of death formed in your head.
You landed and realized that at some point, you had drifted off to sleep, but you still felt exhausted and tired. The castle seemed colder and lonelier. You realized servants missing, but didn´t question it. You drifted off into a constant condition of numbness. For days you barely ate, the food didn´t taste at all, the water in the shower was freezing cold, then burning hot, it didn´t matter. The only memory keeping you breathing was you and Loki sitting on his bed reading, or taking a walk at sunset. Watching the early fog slowly fading when sunrays appeared. The bond you shared, you almost called it love.
Ooh, love is just another four letter word But that never stopped nobody Ooh, either way we lose Just like lovers, just like lovers do The loud sound of spaceships landing woke you up. With you dark, silky robes on you tiptoed down to the lifeless hall of your castle. Your father still sat on the throne, it didn´t look like he had left it in the past days. His deep rings under his eyes, the unhealthy color of his skin, his dry lips and his thin body. He didn´t look good at all. You spotted your sister as well barefoot coming from her chambers, her arms around her body to shield her from the undeniable cold. The cold that didn´t even mattered for you, your body knew how to protect yourself. You looked out the window and realized the large groups walking out of the spaceships, no armor but instead big packages filled with medicine and stretchers. Their uniforms looked Asgardian.
The tall stone doors were pushed open and the first three persons to enter were Loki, Thor and Odin. Your father coughed before he could speak up, but then he managed to form some words. “King Odin, what are you doing here?” But Odin had no intention of speaking, Loki took the lead and simple stormed over to you. Now you embraced your own body as well, the whole attention that was suddenly on you made you shiver. Just a few feet before you Loki stopped and dropped down on one knee and small golden ring in his hands. You gasped shocked. “What the hell are you doing?” You asked screaming panicky and Loki just couldn´t resist to flash you a charming smile, which didn´t calm you down in any way.
“We both know that Asgard helping you is your only chance of saving your people.”
“Soooo?”
“So, I´m asking you to marry me.” You huffed a sarcastic laugh, but he didn´t allow you to interrupt him. “I know that under the circumstances of how we met wasn´t perfect, but nobody ever has been able to calm me down like you. Nobody ever made me laugh like you. You helped me forget my worries and you fought the monsters in my head. And the minute you left, I missed you. I missed you so dearly I couldn´t sleep because your picture haunted me in my dreams. I knew it was a mistake letting you go, and I know it won´t happen again.”
You hated to admit it, but small tears formed in your eyes, which you tried to blink away as good as you could. Never had you expected marriage to be knocking at your door, not so soon. Probably not ever. But now with Loki kneeling here in front of you smiled at the idea. You smiled at the past memories you had with him and the concept of many more of those moments in your future filled you with excitement.
“Yes.” You breathed and Loki, who was still struggling to find fitting words, fell silent.
“Yes?”
“Yes!” He jumped off the ground and put the ring on your finger, his hands still shaking. Then he tightly embraced you, pulling you off your feet. Your arms embraced his neck and you pressed your face in his skin. You glanced over to your sister and even Thor, they genuinely smiled at you.
I see you watching me, eyes on your target Mix drinks and smoke rings, it's already started Let's roll the dice and we'll both make our moves Playing like lovers do
Sibling Rivalry (Thor or Loki x Reader) Part 1
Tumblr media
When Tony Stark throws you a birthday party, two Asgardian princes clash for your affections. What comes next is your decision!
Thor or Loki x Reader
Words: 1,411
A/N: HAH!!!!! This was a really cool prompt suggested by @laurfangirl424 Check out her work too at @lucky-charms-writes !! The second parts will be up either tomorrow or Sunday depending on how I’m feeling!! Stay Frosty honey bunnies!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thor and Loki Odinson stared at the invitation that sat in front of them on the table. It was an invitation to your birthday party that was tonight. The two brothers sat in silence as they stared at the printed paper.
“Well brother,” Thor started taking the note into his hands. “I’ll be going to this party tonight and I’ll tell Y/N that you send your regards,” he said raising a fist before lightning crashed down on himself transforming him into a tight v-neck and jeans.
“Now wait just a moment Thor,”  Loki snatched the invitation out of his hands promptly before casting an illusion spell on himself so that he wore a sleek black suit. “If you think that I’ll be leaving you alone with Y/N, you’re a bigger fool than I initially thought.” He said. “I’m coming with you.”
Thor gave a sly smirk looking back at his brother. “Why Loki, you’ve never been so open about your feelings, especially about a woman” he chuckled. Loki rolled his eyes straightening his tie.
“You may have been a favorite among the women of Asgard but this is one maiden I shall not let you have,” he said slicking his hair back to make himself look his best.
“Shall we call a truce then?” Thor questioned crossing his arms. “I swear upon my throne-”
“Our throne,”
“I swear upon our throne that I shall not flirt with lady Y/N if you don’t as well,” he said stretching his hand forward in front of his brother. Loki looked at the open hand and grinned taking it in his shaking it firmly. “Agreed,” he promised.
“And who knows,” Thor continued after beginning to walk out of the compound.
“Perhaps soon Y/N will choose one of us willingly so we needn’t quarrel over her any longer,” He shrugged.
---
You stood around in the venue hall feeling a little awkward. Sure, this party was for your birthday but it didn’t feel like you belonged. After hearing that your birthday had come and gone the weekend before without anything as much as happy birthday serenade, Tony insisted that he throw you a party. Of course, all the Avengers were invited as well as a couple of shield agents but for a moment it seemed like it was more so a party made for him than you. You didn’t mind that either, after all, you’d rather not have all the attention on you. You preferred to lay low in the background.
You would have been able to do just that too if it weren’t for two godly brothers.
“Ah Lady Y/N!! What a pleasure it is to see you on your birthday!” Thor called loudly approaching you with Loki following close behind.  You smiled sweetly at him as he opened his arms to hug you. Before he could wrap his arms around you, Loki slipped ahead quickly embracing you lifting you up gently.
“Happy birthday dear Y/N,” he smiled back at you putting you down gently. You laughed happily. “Thank you Loki, it means so much,” You smiled.
“Yes Y/N, I bid you the happiest of birthdays as well!” Thor said lifting you in the air giving you a twirl to just be slightly more daring than his brother. He set you down on the ground finally as Loki rolled his eyes. Obviously, his little trick wasn’t so well received.
“I didn’t think you two would come!” you confessed. “At least not…together,” You said your eyes shifting between the two of them.
“We wouldn’t miss it for the world Y/N,” Thor smiled. “After all it was your birthday,” Loki interjected. “Its an important day for you and I’d only wish to-” Thor interjected him with a loud cough.
“…We would only wish to spend it with you,” he drawled trying not to glare at his brother in front of you.
“That means a lot you two,” you smiled. “Why don’t I get you guys something? You’re probably staving,” You said starting to walk past them.
“Let me come with you Y/N,” Loki began to walk beside you making Thor, of course, want to walk with you too on your other side.  Your smile wavered. Okay, you were starting to feel a little suffocated.
“Actually, why don’t I stay back here,” you said stopping suddenly. “You two are big boys I’m sure you can handle yourselves!” You laughed sheepishly beginning to stray back to the back of the venue becoming a wallflower at your own party.
After you were out of earshot Loki slapped his brother arm harshly. “Good job you oaf!” he hissed. “You’ve gone and scared her off!” he whispered walking to the bar to pick up a drink for her and himself.
“Like you’ve done any better brother,” Thor mumbled. “What was that about promising not to make any advances on Y/N hm?!” He grumbled.
“Like you weren’t thinking the same thing Mr. ah! Let me twirl you into the air like some sort of princess!!” Loki rolled his eyes.
“Only because you stole my hug away!” Thor insisted while grabbing a drink.
“Oh boo-hoo I’m Thor I’m so easily hurt by a stolen hug wah wah wah!” He snickered rolling his eyes.
“You’re acting immature brother,” Thor muttered taking a long gulp.
“You mean like you are one hundred percent of the time?” He asked raising an eyebrow.
Thor’s eyebrows furrowed. “Let’s just get back to Y/N, so she’s not lonely.” He said grabbing another drink for you.
“Who said she is?” Loki asked with a grin.
“You didn’t…” Thor said throwing his drink straight through his brother causing the drink to fall to the floor and break into pieces. “That sneaky son of a-”
Meanwhile, Loki was chatting you up back at the wall.
“Tell me Y/N, have you really aged at all in your life? I swear you’re as beautiful as a rose,” he smiled watching your eyes closely.
You smiled trying to hide a smile. “You’re too kind Loki,” You said taking a sip of the drink that he had gotten for you ages ago while Thor argued with his afterimage.  Thor found himself stomping over to the two of you. “Ah, there you are, brother, what took you so long?” Loki asked a mischievous grin on his lips.
“I’m not certain what came upon me…” Thor lied a anger laced in his voice. When he saw you look at him he visibly softened. “Y/N, I hope you’ve been having a splendid birthday weekend,” he said earnestly taking your hand. He laid a soft kiss upon it causing a shiver to run down your spine. All this attention was making you flustered.
Loki coughed loudly making Thor take his hand away gently.
“It’s been interesting, to say the least,” You laughed. “I honestly didn’t want a party, this was all Tony’s doing,” you explained. “You know how he can be,” You finished with a shrug.
“What? But it’s your birthday!” Thor said happily. “The day of your birth is cause for celebration no?” he asked.
“It is but-”
“You idiot, not everyone raves day and night feasting without sleep as you do,” Loki mentioned flanking at him out of the corner of his eye arms crossed.
“Well, I wouldn’t say I dislike parties-”
“Well not everyone prefers to stay in the shadows all day as you, brother!” he retorted.
The two went back and forth again in front of your causing you to shuffle in place awkwardly. You looked around for someone anyone, Steve, Tony, Bruce. You just needed someone to split them up. Unfortunately, no one came to your rescue. You took a breath and finally made a step forward.
“Hey you two, why don’t you take a break?” you said trying not to show aggravation in your voice. The two of them exchanged looks having been caught in the act and looked back at you ashamed.
“Right,” Thor said with a nod. “Many apologies,” Loki mumbled looking at the ground. “Sorry to have bothered you Y/N, we’ll take a moment to collect ourselves,” Thor promised beginning to walk off. Loki followed his lead walking in a different direction.
You heaved a sigh. Sure, you wanted them to stop fighting but now that they were gone you suddenly felt that you were lonelier than when the party had first begun. You looked at your drink quickly before finishing it and taking a breath. You knew you had to reconcile them but the question remained:
Who were you going after first?
                       I choose Thor!        ----------       I choose Loki!
Loki Ending
Thor Ending
Tumblr media
(gif doesn’t belong to me)
Flinging the torn undergarment from his bed, Loki huffs and takes another swig from the bottle in his hand. It’d been a week since Y/N left, and a week that his bedroom had been a revolving door to a parade of Midgardian women and alcohol.
Settling back into his bed his mind races, and he curses the alcohol not being strong enough. He had spent as little time as possible thinking about Y/N and the tightening in his chest every time he passed her room, found something of hers, or let his mind wander a moment too long.
He’d convinced himself the various women would solve his problem, after all he could do what he wanted without repercussion. No sad looks, no arguments, no hidden guilt. He was free to do as he pleased.
Pulling out his phone he brings up the music app she had put on there and taught him to use in their time at Stark tower. Something about Stark having a family-plan. She’d set up several playlist of various instrumental music he usually listened to, but it was the one song left sitting in their shared playlist that had him listening over and over. Almost Lover. Those damn lines from her letter. Each note and word of the song pulled at his heartstrings in a way he didn’t want to admit.
Flicking over to the browse tab he scrolls until he lands on a playlist labeled ‘Heartbreak’. He hesitates for a moment before taking another drink and hitting shuffle.
His mind wanders as the instrumental starts. Is this heartbreak? How can it be? Did I love her? Do I love her? What have I done?
“Only know you love her when you let her go.”
The lyrics make his chest tighten further, his eyes snapping shut. All he can see is her beautiful bright Y/E/C eyes in front of his face. Her smile from ear to ear. Her melodious laugh ringing through his ears. His eyes fly open, and his hand goes to his chest where his heart is beating rapidly, and he curses once again. Damn her. Damn her for leaving. Damn her for making him feel this way. Damn himself for not realizing sooner. And damn himself for treating her like she’d always just be there.
“Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you'll make a dream last
But dreams come slow and they go so fast
You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you'll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies”
Thinking back he can't even remember a time Y/N wasn’t at his side. Pulling pranks as children, learning to fight, several battles, the fateful battle in Jotunheim. He’d run to her arms after finding out the full truth from Odin. Tear-streaked cheeks, and heart bursting he had gone to her chambers, and thrown himself into her arms. And she’d held him as he sobbed and promised she’d always be at his side, that she cared about him no matter what he was or wasn’t.
She went off the Bifrost after him when he’d given up and let go. Her arms wrapped around him, head tucked into his neck as they both hurtled toward the dark abyss. He remembers asking her what in the gods did she thought she was doing, and she’d simply answered she wouldn’t let him die alone feeling unloved. That should have been when he realized it. He knew her feelings, but still not his own.
The months that followed found them traveling through dark places neither wanted to discuss ever again. Being found by Thanos was what set everything to follow in motion. The mental and physical torture they’d endured, and the way she would scream hideous insults at Thanos whenever he approach him for his turn. She’d taken more than her share of the punishment, she’d taken so much of it there were days he thought she’d moved on. Her head lulled to the side as blood dripped from every patch of skin he could see.
Once again, “I should have realized then,” he muttered taking another drink.
When they’d arrived on Midgard with Thanos’ orders, despite her own injuries she immediately helped him get through the SHIELD compound, barking more orders at the lackeys he’d procured already. Fighting against Thor for him. Losing to the Avengers at his side. Prisoner of Asgard next to his own cell. Her sympathetic looks and soft words, her hand against the surge wall between them when they found out Frigga’s fate. Then they nearly left her in her cell when leaving, forgetting her in the moment before Thor released her. And the first thing she’d done when she was released? Pull him into strongest embrace she could manage at the time.
Every event in his life, there she was. Providing support and affection no matter how much he ruined it. And what had he done in turn? Slept with her several times, only to kick her from his bed when someone else that caught his eye came along. Because she’d always be there.
Thinking back to their argument, he realizes she was right. Each memory, he realizes the brightness in her eyes grew dimmer and dimmer. Until days before she left, they looked empty. She just followed him, and tried to suggest things. Only for him to shut her down. A quick fuck in the back room. Before being out on town, and shamelessly flirting with women right in front of her.
“Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
Love comes slow and it goes so fast”
Feelings his eyes burn, he proceeds to drink further, the room starting to sway in his vision as the song changes.
He waves his hand half heartedly, an illusion of Y/N standing in the center of the room looking at him. Her bright smile and eyes, looking at him with love. From their happy moments. When he didn’t ruin everything. Dancing in the moonlight, reading cozied up in the library, endless movies and music as she looked at him like he was worth something. “I love you,” the illusion says with a smile at him as his door open.
Thor lifts an eyebrow at the illusion of Y/N, and pushes his way into the room walking through to dissipate it.
“So this is what you’re going to do brother?” He demands.
“What in Odin’s name do you want?” Loki responds with a sigh.
“I want to know what you plan on doing about all this,” he states. “She’s been gone a week, and that’s the tenth crying Midgardian woman someone has had to escort out of the tower. And Tony’s bar has been restocked three times this week he’s informed me. So this is what you intend on doing? Bedding as many women as you can whilst staying in a constant stupor?”
“Well that is really none of your business is it brother?” Loki snaps back, taking another chug before chucking the bottle over Thor’s head, the glass exploding on contact. “Besides, their alcohol is weaker than Asgardian juice. It does nothing.”
“Oh really?” Thor responds crossing his arms. “And that’s why you can’t even focus your eyes on me right in front of you?”
“Thor, fuck off,” Loki growls threateningly.
“No, we need to speak Loki. You can’t continue on like this. Then I come in here and you have an illusion of Y/N saying sweet nothings to you.”
“Well it wouldn’t be an illusion and this wouldn’t be a problem if you’d minded your own business in the first place!” He yells clumsily climbing to his feet, poking a finger into his brother’s chest.
“I care for Y/N Loki,” Thor states. “I couldn’t watch you take advantage of her love any longer. I couldn’t watch the light In her eyes die out further. The poor girl doesn’t even know who she is anymore.”
“And you think I don’t care for her?” His lip curling back in a snarl.
“No brother, I don’t think you truly do,” Thor shouts back. “You care about your fucking self, you’re trying to make yourself feel better. You’re only thinking about how you feel!”
“I’ve spent the last week in here thinking about how I fucked up Thor!” He shoves Thor’s chest. “Everything I’ve done wrong. Every moment she was by my side. And realizing I love her! Is that what you wanted to hear!?”
Thor’s mouth snapped shut as he looked at his brother’s distraught face for a moment, “And why couldn’t you tell her that? Or treat her like that Loki?”
“I don’t know!” Loki yells crossing his arms and turning away from his gaze. “I don’t know.”
“She needed to do what was best for her,” Thor continues.
“No!” Loki spins back around encroaching on his brother. “You needed to stay the fuck out of it.”
“No,” Thor mutters puffing out his chest as they now stood chest to chest.
Within in seconds Loki’s fist connects with his jaw, and sends him stumbling back, before swinging his own fist. Loki runs at him, slamming into his ribcage, as they both topple out of his room, a frenzy of fists and curses.
“What is going on here!?” Steve yelling running down the hall to the source of the commotion. “Break it up you two!”
The two slam into one of the walls, leaving a large hole, before Thor tosses Loki at a nearby end-table, it shattering as he lands.
Thor’s on him again within moments, Loki kicking him in the gut as he struggles to push him off.
As more of the Avengers gather, they look frantically for a way to get between the two gods wrestling up and down the hallway.
“I don’t want to fight you brother!” Thor announces shoving Loki away from him. “You need to grow up!”
“Oh so now you don’t want to fight, when all you little friends are watching,” Loki responds spitting blood from his mouth. “Thor the fucking honorable man. Thor the worthy. Thor the needs to stop ruining my fucking life!” He launches himself once again at the blonde man in front of him, colliding into him sending them both to the ground again.
Loki wails at his face, before Thor grabs his wrists and head butts him with all his might. The already intoxicated Loki falls backwards, getting to his hands and knees and frantically shaking his head trying to clear his vision.
“You’re better than this!” Thor yelling, kicking him in the ribs, a loud explosion of breath leaving Loki as he collapses. “Instead of blaming me, maybe you should try being a better man!” He grabs his brother’s hair, yanking his head up to look into his eyes. “Be better than this!”
Loki’s vision still swims before him as he tries to concentrate on the blob before him resembling his brother. “Go to Hel,” he mutters, spitting on him.
Thor curses once again, and slams his face into the carpet releasing him, “Do you never learn!?”
Loki quickly tries to scramble to his feet, once again throwing himself at the shape he believes to be Thor, however finding himself taking a metal arm to the face as Bucky deflects the oncoming attack.
Finally rushing up to the scene, Tony slaps his own version of Asgardian handcuffs on the trickster, and Steve hoists him to his unsteady feet.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing!?” Tony growls glaring at him.
“Teaching my dear brother a lesson in meddling in my life,” he remarks struggling against the handcuffs and hold on him.
“Loki had a bit much to drink is all,” Thor insists grabbing Loki by the collar. “Y/N has only been gone a week, he doesn’t know how to properly handle himself again yet.”
“Don’t touch me,” Loki snarls as Thor tries to lead him back to his room.
“Let me handle it,” Wanda announces walking over to the pair. Her hands immediately go to Loki’s head, and within seconds he collapses into Thor’s arms.
“Thank you Lady Wanda,” he nods lifting his brother’s unconscious form into his arms. “He’ll be over this when he awakens from a much needed rest.”
The other Avengers look skeptical, but allow the God to carry his brother off.
Carefully tucking Loki into his bed, Thor removes the handcuffs, and begins to pick up the destruction they’d caused in his room. Finding a facedown frame on the ground, he picks it up gently shaking the broken glass from it to see a photo of Loki, Y/N, and himself as teenagers looking back at him. Y/N in the middle, Loki on the left with an arm around her midsection, and Thor on the right with an arm over her shoulders, all three smiling happily back at whoever had taken the photo. His fingertips brush against the photo sadly.
His attention is ripped away from the photo then by the feeling of subtle vibrating in his pocket. Knowing he didn’t have the phone Stark had given him on him, he quickly thrusts his hand into his jeans pocket, and comes back with a neatly folded square of paper.
Taking care not to rip it, he unfolds it to find it’s a note.
“T,
Thank you for your help, and your friendship. I’m sorry I wasn’t always as true a friend to you as you have been to me. If you ever need me, I’ll be there.
-Y/N”
And with that an address sits at the bottom of the page below her signature. He smile softly to himself, before looking to Loki again and standing. “I believe you can be better than this brother, we both do,” he mutters before patting his head and leaving.
THE ADVENTURES OF STEVE AND TRYING TOO HARD — ONESHOT
Summary: In an ideal universe where Loki and Ellie find themselves living happily in the Avengers Compound, Bucky Barnes presents us with the reasons why a certain super soldier can’t help but be enamoured by the young woman, but also elaborates as to why it is an absolutely terrible idea.
Set Post Thor Ragnarok (Infinity War never happened because I said so!)
Pairing: Loki x OFC
Warnings: Language, Steve getting mercilessly teased, hopefully excessive humour.
Word Count: 3,253
Playlist: “Still Into You” — Paramore, “Hard Times” — Paramore
A/N: Also available on AO3. The idea for this oneshot came about through a conversation I had with a close friend with regards how the other Avengers would get on with Ellie if they were to ever meet within the Unofferable universe. As it was, my friend was convinced that Steve Rogers would have the hots for Ellie, but I suppose we couldn’t really blame him right? This is pure humour, crack, banter between pals, with a little bit of Loki and Ellie thrown in, but hopefully y’all enjoy it either way. For the purpose of this oneshot, let’s just imagine that Ellie has been living on Earth since TDW with no idea that Loki was still alive, alrighty? And THANK YOU FOR 300 FOLLOWERS! You’s are a delight to write for and thanks for sticking with me <3
If there was one thing Bucky couldn’t fault Steve for, it was for trying.
Incessantly.
And if there was one person Steve could not stop trying to get the attention of, it was Ellie.
He saw the way the Super Soldier eyed the young woman when he thought no one was looking. Heck, you would have to be blind not to see it — even then, Bucky questioned whether someone who was visually impaired wouldn’t notice the constant pining. To him, and most of the team, it was as plain as day. This was, however, an awful idea for two reasons:
One, Ellie was still completely infatuated with her former lover, Loki, also known as the God of fucking Mischief, no matter how she might deny it given recent events.
And two, it didn’t seem like Steve was her type. At All.
Bucky couldn’t fault her for that. After all, being attracted to someone of the desirable sex was all down to uncontrollable personal preference. He loved Steve more than anyone, but if she saw his friend as nothing more than just that, he wasn’t going to argue. As long as she wasn’t a bitch about it, he would leave her to whatever men she wanted to actually date. She seemed to enjoy flirting with Bucky more than even attempting to reciprocate Steve’s advances. At least Bucky knew that she was merely joking with him, given the nature of how their friendship had blossomed after he was taken out of cryo. He enjoyed her company immensely, and it was refreshing to be around someone who was aware of his struggles while also avoiding treating him like he was made of glass.
Since Thor and Loki had returned to Earth, after what was apparently the destruction of their home world — planet, realm? I ain’t got no fuckin’ clue —  things in the compound had been tense. Bucky was not surprised when Ellie placed a cracking slap on the very-much-alive-Loki’s cheek. He whistled at the sight, while the god tried his best to smile at her while she verbally destroyed him for faking his death again. Having heard all about their relationship, Bucky understood her anger and frustration. You couldn’t help but sympathise with her when she stormed out of the room to cool off. It was sometime before she was willing to stay in the same room as him, but the insistence of pressing missions and requests for the Avengers’ assistance meant she would have to adjust to the new team member faster than she had hoped. Eventually, they were on — albeit, tense — speaking terms. Now that he saw them together, it was clear that they shared a deep bond spanning years. They were alike in mannerisms and habits, and Bucky usually watched them intently when they were in close quarters; they spent a great deal of time staring at the other when their back was turned. Bucky was getting impatient as to when they would stop being so stubborn and just admit they still loved each other.
Of course, Steve, the punk, saw this as his window of opportunity to declare his feelings for her. The day he approached Bucky for advice in the kitchen nearly left the latter crying in amusement.
“Ya wanna what?” he asked the Captain, wiping the tears from his cheeks as he sat at the counter eating a massive bowl of cereal.
Steve glared at him and pursed his lips together. “Jesus, Buck. There’s no need to be an ass about it.”
“No, no, no, ’m sorry. Just…explain that again.”
With a roll of his eyes, Steve repeated himself. “I want to ask Ellie out to dinner. Or maybe coffee, if she’d prefer that. Like a date.”
“You want to ask Ellie out on a date?”
“Yes.”
Bucky paused, holding back his grin. “Ah, I think ya might be punchin’ above your weight there, Stevie.”
Steve’s face fell immediately. “What do you mean?”
Frowning in his seat, the Winter Soldier let out a sigh and set down his spoon in the bowl. “Judgin’ by her relationship history, she seems to have a kinda…particular taste. And high end taste, at that.”
“You saying I’m not high end?”
“Nah, punk. I’m sayin’ that she was so deeply involved with Loki. Plus, it’s obvious he still loves her and that she loves him, if ya ask me. I mean…he’s basically a god. Maybe you shoulda sat this one out, pal.”
“If they loved each other, would they not just talk it out and get back together?” he asked, apparently not entirely convinced by his reasoning.
“I don’t think their situation is as easily put as that, even though I think they should just bite the bullet and talk about it.”
Steve shrugged, doing nothing to mask his dejected expression at the thought of Ellie not reciprocating his feelings. “Alright, that’s fair to say. But I really like her, Buck. What’s to say that maybe she likes me too? We get on pretty well.”
“I know ya do, but Loki would probably try to kill ya if you went anywhere near her and you know it. He has superpowers and shit. Don’t mess with magic, Steve.”
“Awh, c’mon—”
“D’ya see how he shoots energy from his hands? That’s fuckin’ cool. Ya can’t do that.”
“I know but—”
“He’d end ya in two seconds flat. Give up before you begin, that’s my advice. ’Ve got fifty bucks on Loki anyway; twenty that she’s gonna slap ya ’round like a rag doll.”
“Why would Ellie do—?”
“Ya got no hope, Steve. Punchin’ way above your weight here.”
“Okay, Bucky! I see your point!”
The former assassin did his best to hold back a grin. He loved to tease his best friend when the opportunity arose, so this occasion was no different. “’M not sure ya do. Lemme explain, okay, pal?”
“Oh, this should be good,” Steve said dryly and sat down on a stool next to him. “Well? Out with it.”
“Well, you’re punchin’ above your weight here, number one, ’cause that guy is a literal god or some shit, and, number two, she’s too hot for you anyway. ‘Ve a better chance with a dame like that.”
The Captain’s face was anything but amused, his eyes now narrowed and lips pursed tightly. “Of course, Bucky.”
Bucky shrugged casually and went back to eating his previously abandoned cornflakes. “I ain’t wrong!”
“Something tells me that you’re talking shit, punk,” Steve grunted and rubbed a hand over the back of his neck. “Your advice has been anything but helpful.”
“You came to me for advice,” he replied. “’S not my problem if you think it’s harsh. I’m just tryin’ to look out for ya. I don’t think it would end well.”
“What wouldn’t end well?” an unmistakable voice called from the other side of the room. The super soldiers turned to see Tony strolling towards them.
“Awh, Jesus,” Steve groaned under his breath. “Anyone but him…”
Without hesitation, Bucky explained the situation. “Steve wants to ask Ellie out on a date because he thinks she pretty.”
Steve’s gaze immediately shot to his (now former) best friend. “Bucky?! What the hell—!?”
“Oh,” Tony whistled with a cringe on his face and made his way over to the presses. “Damn, Cap. That’s a terrible idea.”
“Why?” he demanded, distraught. “And why are you making that face?”
“It’s a terrible idea because there is a certain demigod in your way,” he stated simply as he grabbed a mug for some coffee. “Loki would sooner tear you in half then let your big muscly-self get anywhere near his beloved. And I’ll have you know that this is the face I make when I hear a very stupid idea.”
“Have ya forgotten he threw Stark outta window before?”
“You weren’t even there when that happened!”
“That’s irrelevant.”
“Not really!”
“Alright,” Tony cut in, waving his free hand while he poured coffee into his mug with the other. “We’re getting sidetracked.”
Bucky nodded in agreement. “The main point we’re tryin’ to make is that ya definitely shouldn’t be chasin’ after Loki’s girl, even if you guys are close. While what I said about her likin’ me instead of you was meant to kinda annoy ya, I also meant it in terms of her taste in guys.”
As Bucky was expressing his thoughts, Tony stood there umm-hmming along and blowing on his hot beverage. “I’m with Sergeant Plum on this one, Cap. Punching way above your weight. Plus, last time you fought Loki, he slapped you silly until I showed up to save the day.”
Captain America stood there and scoffed aloud with the biggest pout on his face. “I hate all of you.”
“No you don’t; you love us.”
Steve looked positively horrified as Tony made a kissy face at him, and Bucky nearly choked on his cereal as he laughed. “How old are you, Tony?”
The billionaire was quick to gasp in mock hurt. “That is a very impolite question so I will not dignify it with an answer. Also, Barnes is right; he would have a better chance with her. You’re too…blonde, or something. Too morally righteous! You need to break the rules a little! Be spontaneous!”
“Unpredictable!” Bucky added excitedly.
Tony clicked his fingers and continued on. “If you plan to compete with the God of Mischief, obviously! Reindeer Games is always doing spontaneous stuff.”
“He’s probably the most spontaneous guy here.”
“Oh, and dye your hair. Get a beard!” Tony paused thoughtfully, took a quick sip of his coffee, and then explained further. “Basically, become Barnes in terms of looks, and Loki in terms of attitude. Got it? That way you’ll be set!” Steve was about to reply, but was overshadowed by more of his friend’s quick thinking. “Although she still might choose Loki ’cause, you know, history and stuff.” He shrugged. “Can’t compete with that.”
“Tony’s got a point,” Bucky confirmed. “You’re competin’ with someone she basically grew up with…on another planet… While you were frozen in some ice.” He hesitated for a few seconds then nodded his head firmly and met his old friend’s eyes. “Maybe ya should just sit down, Stevie.”
“It’s over, Rogers,” Tony agreed and gave the man a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. “You tried but it was never going to work out.”
“What?” Steve exclaimed, looking between the pair completely stunned. “But I didn’t even get to try yet!”
“You tried your best,” Bucky went on, ignoring his outburst. “But she just wasn’t into ya.”
“Just hold on a minute,” he grumbled, using his Captain’s voice to shut them up. “I’m not afraid of Loki, okay? He has no say over who she decides she wants to go on dates with. He doesn’t own her.”
Tony raised a brow and casually leaned against the counter behind him. “Uh, it’s not just Loki you have to worry about.”
“What do you mean?”
“You forgot about the shippers.”
“Awh Jesus, Tony…”
“The who?” Bucky asked, realising that he was missing something important. “I don’t follow.”
“The shippers,” Tony repeated, his face quite relaxed. “It’s a name given to fans who really love two characters together as a couple. They say that they ‘ship them’. And when they have a favourite ship — let’s say Ellie and Loki — they mix their names together to make the ship name. In this case, it’s Lollie, which is sickeningly adorable. Loki plus Ellie makes Lollie. You get it?”
“Kinda,” Bucky replied, scratching his bearded jaw. “And they do this for all different characters?”
“You bet they do! My personal favourite is the ship name for Pepper and I; Pepperony. It’s genius.”
“Oh, that is pretty clever! So, hypothetically, Steve and Ellie would make…Stellie?”
“Eww,” Tony gasped as a shudder ran through him. “It sounds unnatural.”
“Okay,” Steve grabbed their attention, finding it hard to keep himself calm. “You two are getting distracted again. Why should I be worried about the shippers?”
Tony looked at him in mild disbelief. “Are you joking? They would not approve at all! Do you have any idea how loyal the Lollie shippers are?”
“I’m assuming very?”
“Very.”
Steve sighed heavily. “Alright but I don’t exactly care about the opinion of these people. Let them be disappointed. Is the main concern here not Ellie and I being happy?”
“Look, nobody likes disappointing shippers. You could always just veer towards another pairing—”
“I’ve already told you, I’m not gay, Tony.”
“Well I hope you’re happy disappointing all the Stucky and Stony shippers.”
Bucky leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing. Did he just fuckin’ say…
“Did you just smash our names together?” he asked Tony, pointing between himself and Steve. “In one’a those ship name things?”
Tony nodded. “Yeah, some of them are into the idea of you two bumping uglies.”
“Pfft, no way. He’s not my type; way too needy.”
“Did you just call me needy, jerk?”
“I’m just sayin’ what we’re all thinkin’, punk.”
“See?” Tony insisted, waving his free hand between them. “It’s playful banter like that that makes people ship you two beefcakes.”
“Look, Tony,” Steve began slowly, doing his best to regain some amount of control over the conversation. “I see the points you’ve both made, but I think I’m just going to ask Ellie myself and see what she says.”
“Ask Ellie what, Captain?”
All three of the men froze mid-conversation at the sound of another person’s voice joining in. Bucky slowly turned his head to see the God of Mischief himself standing in the  doorway of the kitchen. His face was completely blank, not giving away any ounce of emotion, and all this did was make the Winter Soldier unsure as to whether he had heard much of the conversation.
“Uh,” Steve drawled, looking very much like a cornered animal. Bucky had to hold back a grin at his previous statement of not being afraid of Loki. “I j-just was going to ask Ellie if she wanted to, eh, go for a…run later.”
“Fuckin’ hell,” Bucky mumbled under his breath and withheld the urge to facepalm. Steve was always a terrible liar.
Loki, looking completely stone faced, walked slowly into the kitchen and replied. “I see.”
“How are you two doing, actually?” Tony asked, watching as the demigod opened the fridge and pulled out an apple. “You and Ellie? Still having trouble in paradise?”
“There is no trouble, Stark.”
“Uh, not to be the bearer of bad news, but have you forgotten that wicked handprint she left on your chiselled cheek?”
“I think that is of little relevance,” he shrugged and sat at the counter across from Bucky and Steve with his apple and a knife in hand. “Women do that to me frequently.”
“Didn’t ya also get a slap off the Hulk?” Bucky asked as he finished his own food
“Banner hits a little harder than Ellie,” Loki answered, cringing slightly at the memory. “I find that when she hits me it is a lot more…pleasurable.”
Steve’s eyes nearly fell out of his head at that. “What the fu—”
“So you two are…” Tony set down is mug and made a circle with his index finger and thumb before repeatedly putting his other index finger through. “Gettin’ some again?”
Loki stared back, expression unreadable. “I beg your pardon?”
“Never mind. What I mean is, let’s say someone were to — oh, I don’t know — ask her out, let’s say on an intimate get-together. We call that kinda thing a date here on Earth. What would you do if someone asked Ellie out on a date?”
All three men looked at Loki intently, gauging his reaction in a way that Bucky was aware probably made it very obvious that someone did in fact want to ask Ellie out. Alas, they sat expectantly and the Trickster picked up his apple and began slowly carving slices as he spoke. “If someone were to seek out the little one and ask to court her, I can assure you that he would not get within ten feet of her before I were to slit his throat with this knife, Captain.”
As if to drive his point home further, Loki stabbed the knife down through the apple’s core and suddenly levelled his gaze on a very stunned Steve. The silence in the room was deafening for some time.
“It as nice knowing you, Cap,” Tony said in a rush, patted his shoulder, then hurried out of the room as quickly as possible with coffee in hand.
The two super soldiers were staring at the god in disbelief, a sweat very clearly beginning to break out on Steve’s forehead.
“Do you think me an idiot?” Loki hissed, green eyes boring into him.
“Eh…no.”
“I did warn ya,” Bucky mumbled, awkwardly sitting there with his bowl in his grasp.
“Hey, guys.”
The sight of the subject of their conversation walking into the kitchen caused Bucky to let out a relieved sigh. Ellie walked up to the counter and assessed them all. “Jesus, what’s goin’ on in here? You’s look a bit tense.”
“We’re just talkin’ about…women,” Bucky explained while the other two glared at each other. “Ya know how guys get about women! Anyway, what brings ya to this side of the compound?”
Ellie nodded slowly, clearly not convinced in the slightest, but avoided the subject anyway. “I was lookin’ for Loki, actually. Tony said you were in here.”
“Yes, love?” he answered, grinning in delight.
“I was comin’ to get you so we could watch some more Black Mirror. Are you good to go?”
“Of course.” He got to his feet and handed her a slice of apple which she took happily. “Lead the way.”
Before they could get anywhere near the door, Steve bit the bullet and called out. “Hey, uh, Ellie?”
Bucky was quick to intervene with a hushed, “Steve—”
“What’s up?” Ellie asked, standing in front of Loki and unaware of the look of complete distain her former lover (possibly current? Who fuckin’ knows…) was sending the Captain.
“Any chance you might want to, uh, get a cup of coffee together later? I’d love to talk more about that book we were discussing before.”
The young woman showed no obvious signs of surprise, but Bucky knew that she became a master of hiding her emotions because she learned from the best. Even still, it took her a few seconds to answer. “Sorry, Steve. I promised I’d watch telly with Loki tonight. Maybe another time soon though? ”
He smiled slightly and nodded. “Sure, have a good night.”
With that, the pair left the room and left Steve and Bucky sitting at the counter alone once more.
“Sorry, pal,” Bucky said sympathetically after a moment.
His friend met his gaze and answered. “What?”
“I know ya liked her a lot. It’s never nice gettin’ rejected.”
Steve was the picture of confusion. “What are you talking about, Buck? I didn’t get rejected.”
Bucky’s eyes went wide at his statement. “Yes, ya did. Did ya just fail to notice that she said no?”
“Actually, she said ‘another time’. That’s not an outright no. There’s still a chance!”
“Oh my god,” Bucky sighed and held his head in his hands. “You’re really not helpin’ the blonde beefcake stereotype, ya know that?”
Steve let out a chuckle at that and shook his head. “Shut up, jerk.”
“Not a chance, punk.”
Loki had been drinking. A lot. Far more than usual and at a faster higher rate. This meant that, despite it being weak Midgardian drink, it was actually finally having a slight effect on him.
All because of that [Y/N] woman. Who knew she could be more annoying than her father?
Of course, she was annoying in a different way to her dad – it was the incessive mystery around her that drove him the maddest. The fact nearly every word out of her lips was a lie, yet he didn’t know why or what she was hiding.
Then it was just her in general. She was a styled mess, every changing, her hair always slightly different, the shade varying, her nails always a different colour, each day a new scrape on her skin, a new rip in her clothes. She was like a constantly shifting illusion - it was no wonder she was so skilled in slipping under people’s radars.
She was also ever present. Whenever Loki deigned to venture from his room [Y/N] always seemed to be there waiting for him -  or would find him out within a few minutes.
She always spoked to him like he was as good as an Avenger, as though one of his past transgression made any difference to her. Like he was the gentleman she kept insisting he was.
It was driving him insane.
“Tough day?” [Y/N]’s familiar voice rang out next to him, breaking away from the group - made up of Thor, Barton, Romanoff and Rogers - who were sat around the large television screen watching a movie of some sorts.
She was chewing on something and, as she waited for Loki’s response, she produced an odd, pink bubble from between her lips that sharply popped a moment later.
“What in Odin’s name are you eating?”
She frowned at his question. “It’s bubblegum.” She said as though it was obvious.
“Of course, it is…” Drawled Loki dryly, still having no idea what this was, but the name gave him all the information he needed.
[Y/N] grinned at his grumpy mood, unperturbed, and then glanced across at the bottle sat next to him. “Was that full when you started?”
“What if it was?”
She raised her eyebrows at him, “I’d say it’s pretty impressive that you’re still taking coherently -that’s Stark’s premium stuff.”
“I know.” Loki said, finishing his glass. “I’ve already finished the poorer quality bottle he gave me.”
[Y/N] burst out in laughter at this, and Loki felt his lips pull up slightly - her mirth infectious - and he found himself smirking as he turned to refill his drink.
“Pour me a glass.” [Y/N] instructed, as she pushed herself up onto the stood next to him - Loki didn’t miss the wince that cross her face at this movement.
If it had been anyone else, Loki might have thrown the glass at them for ordering him around, but for some reason he found himself complying with the girl’s demand.
“Thank-a you.” She grinned as he slid the glass towards her. As she reached for the drink, Loki caught sight of something on the back of her hand. A closer inspection showed that it was a large scratch that ran from her knuckle towards her wrist.
“Another brawl at a courtship ceremony?” He questioned, and - though it was hard to pull his gaze from the wound – he looked away to the back wall of the bar, sipping at his drink.
[Y/N] frowned at him in confusion, catching his eye and Loki inclined his head towards her hand which was now holding her glass. Her eyes lit up with understanding and she twisted her wrist slightly -  carefully not to spill the glass - as she too looked over the wound.
“Ah, uh – ha,” She said, letting out a short chuckle, “No, uh -  I underestimated Nat with a knife.” She explained.
Loki raised a brow, his face questioning but calm, yet something fluttered within him.
“Training.” [Y/N] clarified at his expression. “I’m getting rather rusty lying around here.”
“You left your arm behind when she struck.” It wasn’t a question.
“Good guess.” [Y/N] commended with a nod, taking a drink.
“It wasn’t a guess.”
[Y/N] smirked at him over her glass before taking a sip. Suddenly an impish look appeared in her eye and before Loki could question why, her glass was flying towards his face. Even in his inebriated state, Loki easily batted it away with a flick of his hand, the glass instead smashing into the shelves on the back wall of the bar, shaking the bottles that stood on it.
Everyone who had been watching the movie snapped their heads around, Barton and Rogers both jumping to their feet on full alert. When they both just saw Loki and [Y/N] sat together at the bar, they noticeably relaxed.
“What the hell was that?” Demanded Barton.
Loki was glaring daggers at [Y/N] whilst she was grinning triumphantly. “Just testing Loki’s reflexes.” She explained, that cheeky look still in her eyes.
“Maybe don’t threaten Stark’s beloved alcohol stash next time.” Suggested Romanoff from the sofa, “He seems to have a sixth sense when it comes to those bottles.”
[Y/N] noticed Steve, Thor and Clint glance at the door - as though expecting Tony to suddenly appear there. When he didn’t, they relaxed back onto the chairs. “Yeah, maybe you kids should flirt somewhere else.” Clint suggested, his eyes already back on the movie.
“No need.” Growled Loki. “I was just leaving.” With that, he got to his feet and abruptly strode to the door.
[Y/N] watched Loki leave with a small smirk. It was funny how she seemed to annoy him so much - not that she wouldn’t expect someone to get annoyed if a glass was thrown at their head, but it had proved a point to herself.
She had been trying to avoid the ‘God’ ever since she had arrived, but everywhere she went he was either already there, or would turn up within a few moments. She hopped down from her seat. This time however, [Y/N] was going to purposefully follow after him.
“I’m not sure that would be smart, [Y/N],” Thor called from the sofa, guessing her intentions, “You seem to have irked him somewhat.”
“Thanks for the advice but I think I can handle him.” [Y/N] reassured him with a wave of her hand. Thor didn’t look particularly comforted by this, but he was slowly learning that this girl seemed to have no fear, and he could only watch in concern as she continued after his brother.
 That woman was an ongoing stress test, Loki thought as he strode down the hall. She had insisted on calling him a gentleman, ordered him around and now was throwing glasses at him.
She must have a few screws loose, as the Midgardians said.
“Hey!”
Loki closed his eyes. God she was persistent. He neither stop nor slowed, instead continued walking, trying to ignore her like the annoying buzzing fly she was.
“Hey!” She called again, “Reindeer games!”
Curse that nickname. Curse Stark. He kept walking, now hearing her feet slapping on the floor as she broke into a jog.
When she drew level with him and he still didn’t slow or even acknowledge her presence, she jogged in front of him and stopped directly in his path, unsurprisingly holding her own.
Loki still didn’t stop though, walking straight at her, his eyes direct ahead and looking right through her. He still didn’t show any signs of stopping as he drew closer and the next thing [Y/N] knew he was walking straight through her and vanishing in a flickering shimmer of gold.
[Y/N] couldn’t help stepping back in surprise, then seemed to realise what had happened, glancing around the corridor. She noticed him then, stood at the end of the corridor watching her fall for his ruse.
“Nice magic trick.” She complimented, now walking towards him.
Suddenly she was thrown sideways into the wall, pinned by an arm against her chest and a blade at her throat. “I know.” Loki sneered above her.
[Y/N] glanced up the corridor where he had been a moment ago, only to see the illusion grinning wickedly at her before it too vanished in a flicker.
She returned her eyes back on the man in front of her.  “I’m guessing you’re the real one then? Can you pull a rabbit out of a hat for me next?” She asked cheekily.
He glared at her. “You are stupidly confident that I will not cut your throat right now.” He snarled, pushing the blade closer to her neck.
She instinctively tilted her head back at the pressure on her throat. “I guess so.” She affirmed, still seeming rather unconcerned given her position.
Loki gritted his teeth. “Care to tell me why you won’t leave me alone?”
[Y/N] didn’t say anything, instead looked pointedly – as best as she could - down at the knife held against her. Loki rolled his eyes, retracting the blade but keeping a firm hold on her.
She lowered her head so she comfortably look at him again and Loki was suddenly aware of how close their faces were, but he didn’t pull back.
“I came to ask about that.” [Y/N] said– seeming completely unaffected by how close they were - nodding her head to where the knife was now held by his side. Loki eyed her suspiciously. “I want you to show me some moves.” She explained.
He raised an eyebrow at her request.
“Aww come on,” She faux-whined, “Why not?”
“Tell me why I would?”
“Because you’r-“
“If you call me a gentleman once more time,” He warned, pushing her harder into the wall. “by the Allfather I’ll-“
[Y/N] tried to stop herself wincing, but Loki was pressing on the still tender burns on her chest. “Ah – no.” She interrupted him, gasping in pain. The noise shocked Loki and he immediately relaxed the pressure on her, a flicker of concern passing over his face - though it was instantly replaced with an emotionless mask before she could notice. “I was just going to say you’re the best with knives –“ [Y/N] continued, “you’ve clearly got good reflexes –“ She smirked, despite the dull throbbing on her chest. Loki scowled at this - now seeing it was true about the glass being to check his reactions, “- and I’ve got to keep my skills evolving or else I’ll be useless in combat – Natasha proved that much.”
Loki thought back to the cut on [Y/N]’s hand – and the idea that it could have been much worse if she hadn’t just been sparring with one of the Avengers.
Damn. He wished he didn’t care.
His attention turned back to her. “I will agree to this,” He told her sternly, “only, if you agree to tell me what you are hiding.” He added slyly.
The flicker of fear across her face was brief, but Loki caught it. And it intrigued him. She was tense under his arm and he seemed to have stunned her into silence for a moment.
“You never told them about that?” She eventually asked, uncharacteristically quiet.
The sudden vulnerability in her voice surprised Loki. “No, I have not.” He confessed, his voice almost soft.
“And you still won’t?” She impressed firmly, her eyes hard and steely, daring him to tell her something she didn’t want to hear.
His fascination with this woman flared again. What was she withholding? “I shall not,” He promised, “As long as you finally tell me something true.”
“And you’ll train me?” She demanded almost angrily.
“Fine.”
She eyed him sternly for a moment before she relaxed under his arm again. She nodded in consent.
Loki stepped back, finally releasing [Y/N] and she seemed to sag in fatigue for a moment before she perked up again. “So, when do we start?” She asked, her voice almost back to its usual cheeriness.
“Tomorrow morning. Early. You won’t be sleeping anyway.” He said, a knowing look in his eye.
The fact he knew this seemed to surprise [Y/N] again - a slight blush appearing on her cheeks -  but she quickly recovered. “Good.” She nodded, “Well. I’m going for another drink.” She declared, already taking the first few steps back down the corridor to the lounge.
“Are your wounds hurting?” Loki asked slyly.
[Y/N] paused, her back already to him. She hesitated.  “Uh – yeah.” She mumbled, before continuing forward.
Loki watched her disappear down the corridor before turning, himself, to continue back to his room.
A few screws loose indeed.
Previous Chapter
Pairing: Loki Laufeyson x OFC  |  Word Count: 5992 Warnings: smexy, swearing, angst and heartbreak
Lauren stared at the change in the pendant around her neck with awe. Towel wrapped tightly around her, she touched the web of intricately laced branches which now rested where once the delicate chain had. It was only about an inch wide, maybe two where the branches fell to a point beneath the pendant, surrounding it as if to highlight the golden rectangle. It was exquisite, like nothing she’d ever seen before, but she wasn’t so foolish not to realize there was more going on here than a simple gift.
“Loki, explain this to me?” She tapped it gently with her nail.
He appeared behind her in the mirror, chest bare, towel riding low at his waist. The smile he wore was simply sinful as was the look in his eyes when he peered at her through the glass. Tapered fingers landed ever so gently on the delicate gold filigree, tracing the design with care.
“Isn’t it stunning?” he asked, stroking his fingers up her throat to cup and lift her chin.
His touch made her shiver most delightfully. “It’s gorgeous, but why is it different?”
Even though he’d followed through on his comment to wash everything, he’d been… mostly a gentleman about it. His soaping of her back, belly, and chest might have been a pleasant experience, but it had just been a washing, one which she’d returned in kind, washing both their hair as well.
It had been fun, actually, to do something like that for him, especially when she’d scrubbed her nails lightly over his scalp and he’d darn near purred with pleasure.
“Because,” he murmured, lightly kissing her cheek, keeping his eyes on hers in the mirror. “You are my Ástvinur, my chosen. As we learn and grow together, as our bond grows stronger the more you accept me for who I am, so does the brúðr steinn.”
“Brúðr steinn,” she murmured, touching the pendant. “Sounds fancy.”
“Very fancy,” he whispered against her ear.
The heat in his eyes had her lips parting on a sigh. “Loki.” She watched, enthralled as he ran his teeth over the shell of her ear.
“That’s four, my darling,” he crooned against her before slowly pulling away, allowing his finger to trail down her neck and over her bare shoulder.
Lauren picked up her brush with a shaking hand and began running it through her hair, hoping to regain some semblance of composure only to have him return to her back and steal the brush from her fingers to do it himself.
“Seeing as how you have enticed me out of bed at this unseemly hour, I think you should make it up to me.”
Arching a brow, she ignored the heat in her face when she muttered, “After the last twenty minutes, you’re gonna whine about gettin’ up early?”
He paused in his brushing to look at her with eyes full of censure. “An act we could have easily accomplished had you remained in my bed.”
She tilted her chin up defiantly. “You’re short-term memory is goin’, peaches. You’re the one who flounced off into the shower.”
“I do not flounce!” he scoffed. With a narrowing of eyes, he dug his fingers in along her ribs and made her squeal. “Oh, ticklish are we?”
“Loki, no!” she laughed when he did it again. “Stop! Stop! Noooo- aha!” Grabbing hold of her slipping towel, she darted out the door with him hot on her heels.
It came as little surprise when strong arms banded her waist, scooped her up off her feet and tossed her to the bed, causing her breath to oof out before being replaced by gasps and giggles as he attacked her ribs with a vengeance. She belted out a peal of laughter as she tried to keep her towel in place, pushing at him to stop. “Stop!!”
Crouched over her, Loki snickered as he captured both her hands into one of his and held them above her head. “Admit I do not flounce, and I may grant you mercy.”
She bit her lip to hold in her giggles. “Fine, you don’t flounce.”
“Very good.” He smiled triumphantly.
“But you do skulk!”
“Why you little…” he growled softly, skating his hand down her ribs.
“Ah haha!” she screamed, twisting to get away, only to finally have her towel come free. “Big bully!” she pouted when he stopped, eyes full of appreciation for her half-naked form.
“Poor baby,” he chuckled, skimming his hand up her bare flesh to caress her exposed breast. “Should I kiss it better?”
Lauren bit her lip while nodding.
The way his eyes went from sky blue to deep oceans as they warmed was enchanting.
Her eyes dropped to his lips, waiting for him to lower them to hers. She sighed and tilted her face up, the anticipation half the fun when his nose brushed gently along the tip of hers, and his breath washed across her lips.
He settled slowly to the bed, his body at her side, arm stretched out to keep hers contained. The softest touch of his lips made hers tingle. They brushed, a whisper, brushed again, brushed and made her whimper a quiet plea.
When they finally sealed to hers, she moaned, arching up, loving the shock of heat which rapid fired through her system with his kiss, with his closeness. Lauren hooked her heel behind his knee and tugged until his weight half pressed her to the mattress. But it was his mouth she focused on.
The silky glide of his tongue against hers. The way he seemed to be able to twist it in the most impossible way. He flicked it over her teeth, discovering every corner of her mouth. He moaned, deeply, and the coolness of his voice along with the magic which lived inside him washed down her throat making her shiver.
The release of her hands saw them flying up to sink into his damp locks as she kissed him unendingly, catching a breath when he let her only to have him dive back in until her lips felt swollen, and the hand on her breast wandered down her side to jack her thigh up around his waist.
His hand was making its way over her ribcage again when a loud growl came from her stomach.
“Oh!” Jumping at the unexpected noise, Lauren flushed with embarrassment.
Loki groaned softly in disappointment as his head fell to her shoulder. “I forget how often you Midgardians need to eat,” he said, sounding distinctly grumpy.
“I forgot how often you don’t,” she grumbled. “C’mon, hun. I’ll make you a breakfast that will have you wantin’ to eat.”
“And just what, pray tell, are we having for breakfast, my sweet?” Loki asked, lips gliding across her cheek. “What could you possibly feed me that would make letting you up worth my while?”
Smiling, Lauren traced her nails down his back. “Mm, you’ll have to wait and see, peaches.”
Nipping at her lip, he sighed, long-suffering and full of irritation. “If I must, but you will simply have to make it up to me.”
“Me? Make it up to a God? Why however, shall I accomplish such a thing when I am just a shy, fair maiden with not but pennies to my name?” She fluttered her lashes, smiling innocently up at him.
He snorted out a bark of laughter before fighting it back to give her a dark look laced with mischief. “By using your own two hands, fair maiden, to treat me as I deserve.”
“And whatever shall I be doin' with my hands, oh gracious God of Mischief?” she asked, a touch breathless.
“Why, what every man desires of his woman,” he murmured softly, eyes drawing down to land on her lips. Leaning closer, his mouth a breath away from hers, Loki whispered, “Bake me a cake, woman.”
Her eyes widened in disbelief as he leapt from the bed, laughing wickedly while escaping back into the bathroom.
“You’re a horrible tease!” Lauren griped.
“But a fantastic flirt!” Could be heard before the door shut tight.
***
With his chin in his hand, Loki watched Lauren move around the kitchen with an ease born of familiarity. She was at home here, cracking eggs and cutting up peaches, strawberries, and bananas. There were bowls of fresh berries on the long marble island and a cup of steaming coffee at his elbow.
She stood before the hot stove, bowl of batter in her arm, stirring gently while she waited for the pan to warm. A white t-shirt, old and thin from many washings clung to her curves, while shorts made from jeans bared the generous length of her legs.
He was having a decidedly hard time pulling his eyes away from her long limbs and colourful bare toes. The soft pink was most enticing, making him wonder if she would giggle if he nibbled upon them or if a moan would fall from her lips. Her pert bottom in those shorts wasn't helping matters either.
Drawing his eyes up, he smirked a little for her hair really did curl in the humidity already present in the early morning heat. Soft waves fell around her shoulders, caressed her cheeks, and draped down her back. She looked adorably youthful, like the girl in her Gran’s pictures.
She hummed softly while pouring batter onto the hot pan, hery smile small but happy as she did something which obviously pleased her.
Loki sipped his coffee and glanced toward the clock upon the wall, one reading just gone six-thirty, an hour he would not have been awake at without a good reason on any other day he’d chosen to sleep. Still, to watch her cook for him, just him, in a kitchen with whitewashed cabinets and marble countertops, glass front doors and gleaming steel appliances that put the kitchen of Stark’s to shame, caused his heart to clench at the domesticity of it all.
He could get used to this.
He set his coffee down with a quiet click of porcelain on marble. “Whatever was your sister trying last night with her action? I cannot figure out her motivation for breaking into your room as she was.”
She placed the bowl down beside the stove and took up a utensil to flip the first round of pancakes. A slight sigh escaped her as the smile fell from her lips, and Loki regretted asking. “The belt.”
“Excuse me?” he asked, stiffening in shock.
“The one you made me. It wouldn’t be the first time Cissy took what wasn’t hers cause she wanted it.” Moving toward the big double door fridge, she opened it and took out a small silver bowl filled with cream she’d previously whipped up into frothy peaks.
He stared at her aghast. “She steals from you as well?”
“Borrows, hun. Only she conveniently forgets about returnin’ what she's borrowed,” Lauren muttered, putting the bowl on the counter near the berries before ducking down to open a cabinet and remove a small canister which she placed near the bowl. “That’s how Cissy explains it at least. At which point I get, Lauren Guillemin, why can't you just let Cissy have whatever this one time? ”
“Lauren,” he sighed, scrubbing a hand over his face, unable to believe the audacity and how it was compounded by what was evidently her mother.
“There’s a reason I only brought one bag. I’ve had things disappear before when I brought them home with me. Considerin’ I could smell the booze on her last night from across the room, ain’t surprised she fell against the door.” She shrugged, dismissing it. “She’s doomed to disappointment anyway.”
That Cissy was. The belt and the outfit he’d created for Lauren no longer existed. He could bring it back should she wish it, but he was really beginning to despise this family.
Flipping the pancakes onto a waiting plate, Lauren poured more batter into the pan and turned toward the island where she began spooning fruit over the hotcakes. The canister was opened and a sieve obtained to shake the fine powdered sugar over the plate. Dollops of the whipped cream were added next before she drizzled a smattering of honey over the entire thing.
Lauren set the plate in front of him with a smirk and nudged a fork his direction. “Eat.”
He eyed both her and the plate before arching a skeptical brow. “I have had pancakes on numerous occasions, my sweet. How is this any different?”
She scooped a bit of cream up with her finger, a dab with a drizzle of honey on it and held it out. “You ain't never had pancakes till you've had ‘em with fresh cream and wildflower honey.”
Loki watched her face as he took her by the wrist and brought her finger to his lips, swirled his tongue around the tip, and placed it into his mouth where he sucked it clean with a sensual purr of pleasure. “Delicious. Especially off your skin.”
She gave a slow blink, a sly smile, and leaned closer to kiss him only to suck his lip into her mouth. “It's even better off yours, peaches,” she murmured, flicking her tongue over his lip. “Eat.”
“There's something I'd like to eat,” he muttered, setting her laughing and blushing as she returned to the stove.
When he dug in, Loki had to bite back a moan of pleasure for her meal was just delicious. As he ate, he again watched her move with ease around the kitchen.
Before the pancakes, she’d mixed a large bowl of batter, poured it in pans, and placed them in the oven. The entire kitchen smelled of spiced cake, mouthwateringly scrumptious. She returned to the fridge, took a block of something - the box reading cream cheese - from it and set it on the counter. The oven was checked, and she flipped her own pancakes before turning her attention back to him.
Collecting a piece of peach on the end of his fork, he held it out to her temptingly. She walked toward him, a sway in her hips, leaned over the counter and opened her mouth.
Pulling the fork back, Loki tsked, “Closer, pet.”
Lauren skirted the counter and stepped forward. “Here?” she asked, smiling.
Turning toward her on his stool, Loki slipped his foot between hers, caught her around the waist, and pulled her forward to straddle his thigh. “Here,” he quipped, bringing the peach to her lips.
Her eyes danced and sparkled when she bit the peach off the tines.
While she chewed, Loki stroked his hand down her back, gently cupped her bottom, traced his fingers over the curve and down past the edge of her shorts where he could lightly caress her bare skin. “What would you have us do today, darling?”
Her fingers traced the line of buttons on his white shirt. “Anythin’ long as we’re outta this house.”
“It has been some time since I rode. Yesterday’s adventure with your stallion reminded me of how I missed it.” Loki slipped his fingers beneath the hem of her t-shirt, dragged them gently over her skin, squeezed her ribs and brushed his thumb over the underside of her satin encased breast.
Plucking a strawberry up between her nails, Lauren brought it to his lips. “We could take the horses out. Go down to the river. We could swim and have a picnic for lunch.”
Sucking the berry from her fingers, Loki hummed happily. “Sounds delightful.”
“I think so,” she smiled, leaning down to kiss him gently, pulling away only when the scent of pancakes got stronger. She returned to the stove, clicked off the burner, dished up and prepared her own small mound of pancakes before taking the seat at his side.
Loki gave her stool a quick jerk, drawing it in close. She squeaked, grabbed for her plate, and made him snicker. A sharp glare was sent his way before she stole his coffee to sip from his cup. He slid his hand up her thigh and gave her a second jerk that saw her sitting nearly on his lap. Not an easy feat to accomplish, but he wrapped her leg behind his hips and settled his hand on her lush bottom to keep her in place.
Perched on his leg, she eyed him with amusement. “I could sit on my own stool.”
“But then how could I do this?” Stealing her fork, he speared a piece of banana, dipped it in the whipped cream and held it before her mouth.
Her lips twitched, fighting to contain her smile. “I could feed myself as well.”
“Oh?” he pouted, rubbing the edge of the banana against her lips. “Pity,” he crooned, pulling the fork away. “Feeding one’s beloved can be such a… sensual experience.” Lifting his foot to the rung on her stool had her sliding down his thigh, the seam of her shorts bumping up in just the right way.
When she gasped at the sudden jolt of pleasure, he tucked the fork between her lips.
“Now, be a good girl, pet, and let me have my way.” He rocked his foot on the rung of the stool, smirking as he watched her eyes darken when the hard seam rubbed and pulled just right.
Lauren reached past him, ran her finger through the last of the cream and honey on his plate and held it before his lips. “Two can play these games, Loki.”
The mischievous light was back in her eyes. He made to lick her finger when she pulled it away and sucked it between her lips, right to the last knuckle. She moaned softly, eyes on his, as she pulled it from her pursed lips, leaving it slick with saliva.
“Flames of Valhalla, woman,” he groaned, feeling the sudden throb and tightening of his core.
“Still want to play?” she teased, leaning closer.
“So many, many games, darling,” he breathed, sinking his hand into her hair.
Her arms went around his neck, and her body softened into his. “You’ll have to teach me all of them,” she whispered against his lips.
“And invent a few just for you, my heart.” He nipped her bottom lip, making her whimper. Stroking his hand up her spine and back down, he rocked his thigh into her core as he played with her lips, kissing and coaxing, leaving teasing bites and tender kisses, contemplating how quickly he could clear the space on the counter to lift her to it.
“Hey, mama! I smell somethin’ delic- oh, shit!”
The masculine voice had Lauren jerking back, but Loki only held her tighter as he turned his head to glare at the interloping male.
“Uh, mornin’, Lafayette,” Lauren mumbled, cheeks as bright a red as the strawberries on her plate.
She pushed at his chest weakly, but Loki didn’t let her go. The man was wearing a look of embarrassment, but there was envy in his eyes when the dark brown of them connected with Loki’s blue. He knew the instant his flared green for the man dragged the hat from his head and held it twisting between his fingers.
“Miss Lauren. Sorry, I didn’t expect anyone but mama to be up cookin’ this time a day.”
This time the push was less weak and followed up with a solid fist to the chest. Grunting, more out of surprise than pain, Loki finally allowed her to escape, dropping his foot to the floor so she could slide off his thigh.
Lauren smiled at him as she did, her hand stroking over where she’d punched him in apology, one Loki accepted graciously with a tilt of his head.
“It’s good to see you, Lafayette! I missed you yesterday when I was showin’ Loki around.”
Loki watched narrowly as she hugged the large stranger.
A big man, Lafayette had the ruddy complexion of a person used to working outdoors. His sun-darkened skin and bronzed hair confirmed this as fact. Bulky muscles were encased in a t-shirt already sweat-dampened and blue jeans with dirty knees, while a red handkerchief hung from his back pocket. Though he hugged back, Lafayette didn’t touch her with his hands, keeping the dirt on them from smearing Lauren’s white shirt.
“Had to run a few errands in town for Teddy, plus pick up more party things for your mama’s shindig,” Lafayette said, pulling back and heading for the sink to wash up. “Didn’t mean to interrupt… uh… breakfast.”
It came out more a question than a statement.
Getting to his feet, Loki prowled slowly toward Lauren where he collected her fingers and brought them to his lips. “Yes… breakfast,” he smiled as he kissed her knuckles. “You should finish yours, love.” From the corner of his eye, he watched Lafayette flinch at the endearment.
“I will, but I want to introduce you first. Lafayette and I grew up together. His mama is Sue Ann.”
“Ah, the lovely woman from yesterday. She was quite charming,” he said, leading Lauren back to her stool with a gentle tug, encouraging her away from the man who clearly had feelings for her.
“Yeah, mama was full of praise for you, too.” Lafayette leaned against the island and looked him over.
“Really? How delightful.” Loki smirked at the assessing eyes and played with Lauren's hair. While the man was almost as big as Thor, there would be little contest in who would win in wits or strength. The man was quite out of his depth.
“Lafayette, meet Loki Laufeyson.” Lauren smiled up at him.
“You eat, darling. I can make my own introductions.” Loki lightly stroked his palm up her arm. The move had Lafayette’s eyes glued to his hand.
“Don’t summon the staff,” she mumbled, reaching for her fork, oblivious to the tension in the room.
“Why ever not?”
“You’d shake the china. It’s fragile,” she warned, returning to eating.
“As you wish, darling.” Loki kissed the crown of her head, keeping his eyes locked on the brown ones across from him.
Lafayette’s jaw tightened.
Chuckling softly, Loki made his way around the island and held out his hand. “As my Ástvinur has said, I am Loki.”
“Lafayette.”
The large hand grasped his, squeezed in the way most men of this world would to try and intimidate a rival. It only made Loki grin. “She did leave out one thing though.” He increased the pressure of his grip ever so slightly, gaining a modicum of pleasure when Lafayette’s eyes widened.
“What’s that?” the man asked, tightening his grip as well.
He gave a slight shrug. “That I am the adopted son of Odin, brother to Thor, prince of Asgard, and the God of Mischief.”
Lafayette’s hand jerked in his. “What?”
“And one of the Avengers,” she said from behind him. “Don’t be so modest, peaches.”
Glancing at her, Loki shook his head. “Are you teasing me, my sweet?”
“Who would dare?” she gasped as if shocked at the very thought.
“Troublesome woman,” he grumbled, removing his hand from the slack one of Lafayette.
“Holy… fuck,” breathed Lafayette, stunned. “I thought you looked familiar but… sheet!” He slapped Loki roughly on the shoulder with a wide grin. “An honest to god Avenger runnin’ round Annandale Farms! Son’ bitch! Good to meet you!”
Loki blinked, surprised by the about-face in the man’s demeanour. “Excuse me?”
He chuckled, evidently amused by Loki’s confusion. “Thought you were some high society fucker Lu brought home with her to screw with her mama.”
Lauren snorted, covering her mouth as she chewed, eyes sparkling with wicked amusement.
“Did you set me up, darling?”
“Maybe, little,” she smirked, continuing to eat. “Kinda got both of you in one. A double set up. Natasha would be proud.”
“The Captain would be horrified at your deviousness, but Barnes would be quite amused.” Loki shook his head and returned to her side.
“Shit, Lu. Still can’t believe you know the Avengers,” Lafayette muttered, helping himself to the coffee.
The timer on the stove buzzed, but when she made to go to it, Loki pressed down on her shoulders. “Sit.”
“The cake.”
“I have it.” Flicking his finger, Loki moved the cake from the oven to the racks on the counter, turning the oven off in the process.
Lafayette jumped, sloshing coffee over his hand and hissing at the burn. “Fuck me!” Shaking off the liquid, he wiped his hand on his jeans.
“I see your mouth ain’t improved a lick,” Lauren snickered. “Don’t let your mama catch you using that language, or she’ll wash it out with soap.”
“Can you blame me? Damn, Lu! He just… and the cake just… and y’all are just sittin’ there all pleased as punch!”
Lauren smiled. “Takes a little gettin’ used to, but then I’ve had the time.” Her hand drifted up to rest against her pendant, hidden by the neck of her t-shirt.
Sitting beside her, Loki nudged her cheek with his nose, kissing the enticing line of her jaw. “That you have, my love.” Hand settling on her thigh, he rubbed circles with his thumb.
The clicking of heels on hardwood coming at a rapid pace had Lauren stiffening. “Yeti.” She tilted her head to the side, and Lafayette scooted around the corner into what Lauren had termed the butler’s pantry.
Arching a brow, Loki squeezed Lauren’s thigh.
“Mama. She and Yeti don’t get on. He’s a bit... brash for mama’s sensibilities,” she snickered, “It’s better if they just avoid each other. She puts up with him cause Sue Ann’s the best cook in the county. Plus he’s got a knack with the gardens no one can compete with.” She shrugged, dismissing it.
Loki hummed his understanding as Magnolia burst into the kitchen, robe flapping and hair in disarray, day-old makeup beneath her eyes, and a piece of paper clutched in her hand.
“Lauren! Have you seen George?” she asked, breathless.
Lauren shook her head. “No, mama. Why?”
“This!” Magnolia shook her fist with the paper in it. “This was left on his bed this mornin’!” Stalking forward on heels which had fluffy toes, she thrust the paper at Lauren, dismissing him altogether.
“Good morning, Magnolia,” Loki smirked, forcing her attention from her daughter. “How your beauty astounds me, transcending from night to day in such a way.” The choked sound from the pantry would be heard by none but him, though clearly, his words amused Lafayette.
“Oh, well, yes.” She patted down her hair and closed her robe. “Thank you, uh, Loki. I do apologize for soundin’ a touch… frantic. It’s just this letter has got me all stirred up.”
“Oh?” He arched a brow, leaning to read over Lauren’s shoulder. “What a pity. Montgomery has been called away. And look, my love,” he traced his finger over the hastily written line, “it appears he has acquiesced to your wishes and will no longer seek your hand.” It wasn’t what he’d wanted the idiot male to do, but at least he was out of the house and away from his Lauren.
She tilted her head, sending him a quick smile. “As it belongs to you, Loki that was only ever goin’ to be the outcome.”
“Be still, my beating heart,” he breathed, kissing her shoulder. The shudder went unnoticed by her mother, but Loki felt the quake of her desire right to his soul.
“But that can’t be!” Magnolia wailed.
“Mama?” Lauren frowned. “Why can’t that be? George knew last night I wasn’t gonna marry him. I made that perfectly clear. Why else would he have stayed?”
Magnolia paled swiftly before an angry flush came to her face. “Why for the party of course! What other reason could there possibly be? Don’t be stupid, girl!”
Going ridged at her side, Loki glared at Magnolia when Lauren flinched at the harshness. “Yes, what other reason could there possibly be for Montgomery to be in this house? To stay the night when, clearly, the reason he was here was moot?”
Magnolia blinked at his vehemence, blinked again when the words sank in and stepped back quickly.  “I… I don’t have a clue what you might be talkin’ about, sir.”
“No? Hm, I thought not.” Lifting his chin, he stroked his hand down Lauren’s spine. “Well, it seems Montgomery has left us. What a shame.”
She eyed him, worry and fear on her face. “I… I guess, yes. Too bad.” Turning on her heel, she fled the room.
Shifting his attention back to Lauren, he had a moment of concern with how still she was, staring at the last of her breakfast, the note clutched tightly in her hand. “Lauren?”
She spread the note out on the counter with both hands. “Loki, I’m gonna ask a question. I need you to tell me the truth.”
“Always, my love.” Stilling the hand on her back, he brought the other down on hers.
She blew out a hard breath, inhaled deeply and asked, “Was my mother sleepin’ with George?”
Everything about her braced as if awaiting a blow, one he was seriously disinclined to give. “Darling…”
“Oh… wow,” she gasped, his non-answer answer enough. “That hurts more than I expected.” Turning from him, she bent over her knees to pant softly.
The pain tearing through her was so intense, Loki could feel it himself. “Please, love,” he whispered, lurching from his seat to gather her close when she nearly slid from the stool. Holding her as she shook, he became aware of Lafayette watching, eyes full of pity before the man slipped away.
They both ended up on the floor, Lauren sobbing into her hands, completely destroyed by her mother’s betrayal. When harsh cries eventually became soft whimpers, he gathered her into his lap. Limp and exhausted, she turned her face into his throat.
“How long?” she whispered.
He sighed while rubbing her back. “I can’t say with certainty.”
“Hazard a guess, Loki.”
The harshness of her voice nearly made him flinch. “If not the beginning, likely near it.”
“Was this what you were hidin’?”
He closed his eyes and held her tight, wishing with all his heart this was not happening, that her family were not these wretched people. He wished almost desperately for Frigga to be alive. For her to meet and mother his Lauren. To fuss and coddle the woman who was his heart. “I’m sorry, elskan min. I’m so sorry.”
Fresh tears soaked the collar of his shirt.
A few minutes later, when the pounding of her heart was not nearly so strong, Lauren pushed back from him, but her head remained bowed, her hair falling down to hide her face. “Why?” she finally asked, lifting her head to look toward the ceiling. “Why?”
He cupped her face, bringing her eyes to his while he wiped at her tears. He’d never seen her so sad, so heartbroken, and twice in less than twenty-four hours she had cried like her soul was crushed over these people. “I don’t know, darling. I don’t know why people are this way. I don’t know why they do these things. I don’t know why they hurt you.” He drew her in until her forehead rested against his, and her fingers wrapped around his wrists. “But I won’t. I will never hurt you. Not ever. I will never cheat. I will never lie. I will never dishonour you or treat you like less than the queen you are. I vow it, my heart. I swear it!”
She whimpered softly, “Loki.”
“I love you, Lauren.” Her lips tasted of tears and sorrow mixed with shame and regret when he kissed her, but he sank past it, sank deep, kissed her and poured out his heart. He wrapped her in his love and his magic until sadness turned to fire and left him breathless on the tile floor.
When she pulled back a second time, her lashes were slow to lift, but when they did, her eyes were full of sweet affection. The sorrow was still there but muted, and a smile was beginning to bloom gently on her lips.
“That was quite the promise,” she said softly, lightly touching his lips.
He nipped gently at her fingers. “And Asgardians always keep their promises.”
She wiped at her cheeks. “I know, peaches.”
Disentangling their limbs, Loki assisted her back to her feet. “What now, darling?” Did she even want to stay? Would she ask to go home?
She breathed out, composed herself, and headed for the cake on the cooling racks. “Now, we finish your cake, make a picnic, grab the horses and get the hell outta this house before I do somethin’ else I regret.” The worry from last night was present between her brows again.
Flicking his hand at the dishes, he set everything to rights from their breakfast. “Your mother seems to have forgotten you made that declaration.”
“Figures. Magnolia ignores anythin’ which don’t fit in with what she wants.”
If there was a touch of bitterness to the words, Loki didn’t hold it against her. Lauren had gathered a bowl and what ingredients she needed for this next step of cake making when Loki moved up behind her and pinned her hips to the counter with his own then wrapped his arms around her waist. “Will you be alright?”
Her hands clenched on the countertop before relaxing to lay flat. “The worst part? I can’t hate her. She’s still my mama. I seriously want to whip George’s behind from here to the next county, and I’m a little… nauseous, but I can't hate her. Does that make me weak?”
Tucking his nose into her hair, he sighed. “No, darling. It makes you far stronger than most. Frigga said nearly the same to me once. She hated what I’d done, what I’d become, but she still loved me.”
Her hands went back to adding things to the bowl before they, again, slowed to a stop. “Do you ever wonder if the mind stone was part of the reason you gave in to the Chitauri?”
“What?” It was such a jump in topic it took him a moment to follow her leap.
“I’ve seen the files. How you used the sceptre on Clint and the others. If you could use it on them, couldn’t the Chitauri have used it on you first?”
“No… I… no.” He pulled away, frowning, shaking his head in denial. “I don’t… my magic...”
“It’s possible, isn’t it?” she asked softly, turning to look at him.
Scrubbing his hands over his face, Loki shook his head. “I don’t know. I don’t think so. My magic is far too powerful.”
“More powerful than an infinity stone?”
He stared at her for a long moment, her question causing his mind to race with the implications. “There isn’t much more powerful than an infinity stone.”
Her brow arched, she nodded casually, then turned back to her bowl. “Hm, ain’t that somethin’.”
He blinked, momentarily taken aback. “Did you just… distract me, woman?”
She bit her lip, but the giggle still erupted. “Maybe.”
“What a tricky creature you are becoming,” he snickered, returning to press himself against her spine. “I like it.” Placing his hands on her ribs, he nipped at the ear her hair was tucked behind.
Laughing softly, Lauren murmured, “I know.”
“Cheeky, girl.” He liked that too.
With her laughter drowning out the sound of her tears from but moments ago, Loki sighed, happy to be her distraction, sneaking his finger into the bowl of frosting, tickling her ribs to make her squeal, and generally being a nuisance to keep her smiling.
When the feeling of being watched registered, he turned his face to the heavens, grinned wickedly, waved his hand and hid them from Heimdall's view.
He could almost hear the Guardian laugh.
