Meeting the parents
Summary: Set after Accidental Love, after the Chitauri attack on New York, You had become rather fond of Loki, the question was, did he feel the same?
"Loki, you mentioned Asgard before, what is it?"
"My Kingdom."
"Where is it, like in europe or something?"
"What is europe?" remarked Loki
"It's the other side of the world, miles across the ocean." trying to explain the globe to the God was a little more difficult then imagined.
"Asgard is not of this world, it is lightyears from here. Traveling through the Bifrost makes it simpler."
"What's a bifrost? Will you show me one day?"
"No more questions for now mortal." Loki answered, he never really called you by your name, you questioned whether or not he even knew it, or remembered it.
Loki stood above you, almost towering over you, the height difference was rather lengthy between you two, Loki was not a lover of the mortals, that he had made very clear, but you were different, he could tollerate you. After all you stood by him when noone else would, his own brother turned his back against him, the rightful King. It had been quite some time since the Chituari attack upon New York, you had grown rather fond of Loki, something about him was taking over your everythought, involuntarily, not caused by the tesseract, but something else. Something wonderful.
Loki had been hiding out in an abandoned wherehouse, re-evaluating his situation, he kept you around tho, always by his side, you offered to help him with whatever he needed, without attacking anyone however. Torrential rain poured down from the hevens, closely followed by thunder and lightning. Loki watched in slight fear of his brother making an unrequested appearance.
"What, you're not afraid of a little lightning are you?" you asked giggling slightly
"I'm not overly fond of what follows." Loki remarked without looking at you, keeping his gaze on the dark clouds rolling in over head. You moved cautiously toward his side, whispering his name, "It's just a little rain, do you not have that in Asgard, it's mostly harmless really, it doesn't hurt you or anything, you just get a bit wet." Loki scoffed at your attempt to comfort him, he was a God, not afraid of rain, or anything for that matter, and here he stood a mortal at his side, offering words of comfort. A rather large thud came from the tin roof sheilding you from getting wet. "He's here" Loki smirked in amusement, knowing fine well his brother would come sooner or later.
"Who?" you questioned, "What has that?" Loki gave no reply.
A man, long blonde hair to his shoulders, red cloak, metal armour covering his body, walked toward you and Loki,
"Brother!" The other man shouted to Loki, seeing his look drop, somehow you got the feeling this was not for exchanging plesenteries.
"I thought you dead"
"Did you mourn?" asked Loki
"We all did, our father, our mother, we were raised together, we fought together, we played togehter Loki, do you remember none of that?"
"You tossed me aside, cast out by your father. I became a ruler, I led the army to this mortal planet, I've seen world's you have never known about. I built an empire, that was shortly destroyed."
"Come home Loki, give up this poison, stop this madness. I miss you, our mother misses you, our father misses you."
"Your father" Loki hissed
Uncomfortably standing watching the brothers argue with eachother, not knowing wether to leave or stay, interrupt or stay quiet. You stood beside Loki, slowly moving infront of him to protect him from the war you expected to erupt between the two brothers
"Don't hurt him, please" You whispered
"Brother who is this?"
Loki stood tall staring at his brother
"Mortal, my brother Thor son of Odin, God of Thunder." you bowed slightly unsure of what to do in the prescence of a God
"Thor, this is the only mortal who stands by her King."
"Nice to meet you, what's your name?" Thor asked
"Y/n" shyly whispering to the God standing no less then three feet infront of you.
"Loki, come home, please. I miss you, it isn't the same without you. Tricks, games and all."
"Did they send you?" Loki snapped, disregarding everthing his brother had just told him. "Did Odin send you to collect me, so I can once again be prisoner to my own home? I don't think so." Loki chuckling to himself in disbelief, he knew he was destined for greatness, he knew Odin wanted him to keep as a wepon ready for war. Loki knew he was of no use to Odin after finding out thr truth of his real herritage, and the real reason for his salvation as a child.
"Noone sent me Loki, why won't you believe me. I came to get my brother back, they don't know I'm here, they don't know your hear. They think you dead Loki, Our mother thinks your dead Loki. Come home, if not for me, then do it for her. She loves you Loki"
After some time and much deliberation Loki agreed to what once was his home, to return to Asgard with his brother, Thor insisting upon bringing you too, explaining how it would be good for him to have someone he trusts, and someone who believes in him. "Hold onto me" Loki told you, you wrapped your arms around him, his arm around your back holding you close to him. Both of you enjoying the closeness but not acknowledging it. Being lifted through the air, through time and space itself, traveling into a rainbow of colours of it were. not believing what you were seeing you held on tighter to Loki, almost trying to seek protection from his embrace.
Unsure of how this was even possible, teaveling, flying without an airplane, flying to another world that just a year ago you didn't even know it excisted. Arriving in Asgard your feet hitting firmly off the floor, Loki holding you tighter, catching you from falling.
"Welcome to Asgard" Thor excited to have his brother finaly come home. The three of you walking across the bridge into the city of Asgard. Almost every Asgardian stopping in their tracks staring at Loki and you, whispering amongst them, almost everyone kneeling at the brothers walking past. Feeling very overwhelmed as you looked around, seeing a beautiful city, pristine gardens everywhere, everything was clean nothing like New York at all. Taking in everything, Loki was confused to why everyone was staring in disbelief. "This is the palace" Two guards either side opened up the huge doors to the golden palace. Great statues of the God's who had come before, towers with beautiful paintings, nothing like you'd ever seen before.
"Loki" you heard a womans voice, soft and gentle standing in a long hallway. Loki turned to face her, "Mother" Loki looking like a frightened child lost in the woods. Tears pricking his eyes, shoulder dropping in relief to see her.
"Oh Loki" Frigga running to her son holding him close, afraid to let him go as if he weren't real "My son is home" kissing his forhead, turning to you, "And who is this beautiful lady whom accompanys him?"
You bowed "I'm y/n I'm friends with Loki, your majesty"
"Y/n it's lovely to meet you my dear, my son is lucky to have someone like you in his life, if there is anything you need please ask anyone and we shall accommodate, your welcome to stay here dear as long as you wish." Frigga was so lovely to you, blushing and thanking her she walked with you and her boys through the halls "Thor does the allfather know you have returned?" she asked
"Not yet mother, I am confident he shall know soon."
After a while of reaquainting Loki with his mother you were walking around the palace gardens as the two sons spoke prievtly with the allfather. Not wanting to attend the sure to be a delightful experience with the possibility of war between the Gods, you chose the serenity of the palace. Wandering timelessly thoughts all new and wonderful, staring at a statue of what once was. Odin and Frigga standing tall and proud above their two boys Thor and Loki beautiful carved writing "Vires in familia" puzzled to what language or what it read, "strength amongst family my dear" a soft voice read from behind you,
"Your highness" turning and bowing "It's beautiful, you seem like a very lovely family, you really care for your sons" you whispered
"My dear, you may hide your feelings from yourself, but from the God's it doesn't work"
"I'm sorry, what do you mean?" you asked Frigga "I can see it in your eyes, I heard it in your voice introducing yourself as Loki's friend earlier, there's pain behind that word, friend. You wish to be more am I correct?" you stood at a loss for words, how was iti she knew, what you felt, how she knew everything. Why couldn't Loki see that? you asked yourself.
"My dear, he knows" Frigga spoke softly to your confused look across your face. She gave you lots of advice, shared family stories of Thor and Loki as children, how Loki would trick Thor into almost anything he didn't want to do, Loki learnt from a young age he was special, he had certain abilities. Shapeshifting, shadow casting, and much more you had never seen only drempt of. Frigga spoke very highly of Loki she explained too you how when Loki found out he was adopted he took it very badly, given the circumstances Frigga explained she wanted to tell him, just the two of them, however instead Odin screamed at it him when he found the truth out for himself on acciden about his true herritage. Hearing Loki upset it hurt a little part of you.
"He likes you, Yn, he's either too stubborn or afraid to tell you, but I see the way he looks at you when your not watching, he gazes at you, I think you should tell him how you feel, your good for him Y/n."
As night rolled in you continued to have a hearty conversation with the allmother, it was a lovely night, very special Frigga had opened her heart and her home to you, someone she barely knew and made you feel so relaxed and comfortable "Come my dear, you must meet the allfather, however he can be slightly intimidating at first but do not worry I will be right beside you.
Your heart pounding in your chest as you were about to meet thee Odin, unsure of how to conduct yourself. There he was, sitting on the golden throne with a staff in hand, you bowed to the floor beneath him, until he allowed you to stand.
"What business do you have here mortal?"
You panicked and got all flustered "I....Um..I, I'm"
"She is accompanying your sons" Frigga spoke up for you
"With Loki, he's my friend"
Odin sat unamused by you, "But I can go though, I know I sort off dropped by unnanounced, in faireness it wasn't my decision, it was-"
"Silence mortal" Odin shut down your ramblings,
"Now what is your purpose for being in Asgard?"
"I like your son okay, and Loki told me to hold onto him and he would take me through the rainbow lights to get here. I'm sorry I didn't mean to cause any issues."
"Your dismissed" Odin practically asking you to leave.
Bowing before turning to leave you walked endlessly through the halls of Asgard Palace, not knowing where you were going you turned the corners until finding a room filled with books upon books, sheves filled to the celling. Each old and well read, binder covers torn and slightly freyed around the edges, you walked through the different aisles seeing each book differently, none like you had seen on earth ever before.. Some in Asgardian, some in english, some in various languages you'd never seen before. Leaning over the corner of the end shelf you found a huge window chair, the window stained glass with a wolf and what you were sure to be a woman warrior. "This is amazing" saying quietly to yourself, meandering round from the back of the suite, eyes fixated on the portrait, seeing something move slightly in the corner of your eye. "OH I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" becoming rather startled and awkward "Do you like it here?" Sudden relaxation washed over you, it was just Loki, "it's Beautiful Loki, your very blessed to grow up in a place like this"
"Blessed? Have you met the allfather?" Loki chuckled
"I see your point. I met him breifly, he is very intense, I don't think he cares for my being here. I didn't mean to introude, I can go?"
"Stay. Please, So you met the allfather"
"I did, not a very charming man."
"You met my mother?"
"Awwh Loki your mother is fantastic, she has such a gentle soul, she's a beautiful person. And she told me alot about you and Thor and your childhood, she gave me some advice too."
"Oh, and what would that be?" The God asked while still looking down at his book. You fumbled with your fingers working up the nerve to tell the God what he already knew. "We're friends right?"
"We are" Loki answered
"What if we were more then friends, how would you feel about that?" The silence could have been cut with a knife, it was rather uncomfortable, having your feelings out there in the air like so. Loki lifted his head from the pages, closing the book over and setting it to his side, his eyes feeling like there burning a hole through your soul, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything Loki, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable or-" stopping talking as Loki stood infornt of you, your heart couldn't possibly be beating any faster then it already was. "I, Loki I'm-" "Sshh my dear" gently he rested a finger upon your lips, holding your breath for a second. "I know not what kind of trickery this is, but it is neither funny, nor amusinng, rather insulting, now you may tell my brother that his pathetic attempts to get back at me are useless."
"Loki, he didn't send me, this isn't a trick. I didn't mean to upset you. I'm sorry" Lowering your head with embarisment and shame, completely mortified actually. Loki liffted your chin with his finger, "You're certain this is no trick?" shyly nodding
"Then I would very much like to be more then friends with you Yn" blushing and smiling from right to left. "Please sit with me"
"What were you reading, you know before I interrupted you"
"It's called Romeo and Juliet, would you like to hear some?" the God asked you, "Thee Romeo and Juliet, the tragic forbidden love story between two lovers, families at war, ending in soul destroying tragedy."
"What sort of Midguardian horror fiction have you been reading?"
"Apparently not the same story" you laughed
"This isn't about romance, especially no love story. More of a... well it's complicated., So would you like to hear some?"
"I'd love that"
Listening to Loki read paraghraps upon paragraphs, page after page, the sun slowly setting through the painted window, slowly moving further and further down the couch, eyes growing heavier with each word, his voice very peaceful and calming, soothing your running thoughts. It had grew late into the night, you were sound asleep on Loki's lap, he continued to read to you, but also gazing at you his heart brimming with joy and pride knowing you were his, as he was yours. Perhaps this was the beggining of something wonderful, more magical then anything the God had ever seen before. Loki sat there perfectly still afraid of moving incase he woke you, a light shaddow appearing infront of Loki, "She trusts you Loki" Frigga smiling at the picture of her son content, finally happy. "Keep her safe" "Always" he replied "Thank you mother" Frigga vanshed into the air, you shifted slightly againt Loki getting a little more comfortable. Closing his book he hovered his arm slightly above you, deciding to rest gently above you, he couldn't help but smile at the midguardian finding peace in the arms of a God.

Unbearable
Fem/genderfluid!Loki x GN!YN
Tw:SH.
Summary: When Loki leaves you alone with the avengers, your emotions become unbearable. Hurt/Comfort
Loki was a very complicated person. She left everyone she cared for and her plans were unclear. But one thing stayed the same.
You'd always be on her side and you'd always defend her. No matter how many times Tony, Steve, and even her own brother, Thor had told you to stay away from her.
But you had ignored them. Although Loki tried to hide her feelings for you, she cared deeply.
Her top priority was to keep you safe, even if that meant leaving you for long periods of time.
In her mind it's justified. But now you spend your nights alone, slowly becoming more and more depressed.
On top of that, your stuck hearing everyone say "I told you so". You hear it repetitively ever day.
Everyone sees how much pain your in but instead of comforting you they just judge you and your choices.
You felt like nothing, and the nothingness was so loud it stung your ears. It made your body heavy and it made your head hurt.
So, you went to your old ways. Before Loki. You'd get out a small blade and draw lines up and down your arms. You let your anger out on yourself in hopes to get rid of your pain.
The stinging felt nice. But it wasn't long until you felt light headed and dizzy. You didn't mean for it to go this far, but it feels to good to care. At least you'll die happy.
As you layed down on the floor and leaned against your bed. You heard the door open and saw as Tony ran in.
You weren't suprised that Jarvis had told him, but it felt like an invasion of privacy at the time.
"Oh God... YN, what have you done.." Tony says as he holds you up and walks you outside.
An ambulance was already called and it was just a few minutes until you were in the hospital. You fell asleep some time on the way there.
You wake up in an empty hospital room. Not a single person. You felt sad that no one came to visit you, but you didn't expect anything else.
A nurse came in to tell you everything that happened and that you have to stay in the hospital for a week so that they can keep an eye on you.
And that everything else that happens is up to you and your family. You nod sadly and the nurse leaves the room.
When the door is about to close, someone grabs the door and reopens it. You peek over to see that it's Loki.
You almost jump out of your bed to get to him, but she makes her way over fast enough that you don't have the time to.
"Darling... What have you done?" She asks as she moves your hair out of your face. "I missed you..." You respond and she looks down at you sadly.
She knows she'll never leave you like this again. She can't. She doesn't want you to go through this again and she won't let it happen.
She pulls a chair up to the bed and sits in front of you. She watches over you as you heal. She'll make sure from now on that your always by her side.
A/N: sorry there's no good gifs for feminine Loki😭😭 anyways writing her is fun and I'll definitely be doing more🫶

Yggdrasil (Loki x fem! Reader Oneshot)
Summary: Your husband, the god of mischief, has made the ultimate sacrifice for his friends, and the world...he lives, but now he is alone...that is until you choose to join him in his solitude and make a life there.
Warnings: MAJOR spoilers for the ending of the Loki series. Angst, but fluff and hurt/comfort. YN becomes a goddess in her YN-y moment. Brief mentions of sex and pregnancy, but no smut at all. Fix it Fic goodness. Canon and Norse mythology is not a code and more like a guideline. Is it accurate? I don't know. And this is fic world. Accuracy don't mean shit. I just want my boy to be happy after all that and do my part as a Loki fic writer after...THAT.

You walked over to the tree. It was incredibly beautiful. The vines reaching out. The colors are everywhere. The trunk of it twisting, twisting round. The blueness and soft greens that surrounded you. Light purple flowers high up, blossoming. You had heard of it in stories. Maybe dreamed of it once. But here…here in person it was even more beautiful.
“Hello there, Yggdrasil.” you greeted with a smile.
There was a breeze in the wind. It rattled the leaves above. The starry sky. It didn’t feel too cold here- it felt sweet, crisp. An early autumn night. You took several steps closer until you were right before the trunk. Your voice lowering.
“But I know who you really are…who is in there…” you continued.
The search had been long. It had been a month. A month since you saw him. The look on his face, and felt his sacrifice, his steps going forward. Now here it was-in person. Here he was.
It shivered in response. You went up, gently placing a hand on the bark.
You felt the curves of your lips to a gentle frown. A voice that was not begging…only requesting. Soft, but grounded. As grounded as the tree was though in it’s magic it seemed like it floated where it grew.
“Please…take me to him…it is all I want, all I wish, all I ask for…please allow me to see him…even if it’s only once…”
Was your prayer answered? Even heard? You sucked in a breath, feeling your chest grow tight with anticipation. The delicate lines of both despair and hope on a thin line. The golden band around your finger felt tight- shimmering amidst the dark wood of the tree.
The vines relented. They thinned and opened up- as easily as silk. There was a glowing opening within the tree. You felt it- a stillness. As if you were waited. Expected.
Inside it, you took your steps into the heart of the tree. It felt like the cool mist, the light rain as you walked through-like the light rain that poured the first night you let him into your bed. Your heart raced, your palms clammy.
Was this a mistake? The wrong one? It had to be…it had to! It couldn't have done that unless… it was really…no- was this it? Would Yggdrasil kill you? Destroy you for knowledge so intimate, so secret?
Branches, vines, leaves- so much wood here. There was a green light that glowed about it, shining everywhere- how perfect for him, you mused.
Your head turned. Throat going dry and tight with dread, fear. You searched around. Eyes skittering through the thick vines.
You looked around-nothing but the greenery…
Then…there was a voice. Breathy, baritone, low, rich-and it whispered your name in echoes.
The greenery opened up. You saw first horns. Then…
There, on a throne, surrounded by vines, there he sat. Pale and handsome. He was always handsome to you. Despite the lines of care, his drooping eyes…it was him. You knew that face- caressed it, kissed it so many times.
His eyes then lowered to you. Its blueness seemed darkened, dimmed. Then he looked at you, squinting. He whispered your name again, to you. You felt everything in you freeze. You wanted this. Processed it. It was real- very, very real.
“Is…is that…” he began to whisper.
Tears brimmed up your eyes and you cupped your mouth, as you felt them drop down your hand already.
“Loki it’s you!” you cried out.
Sobbing hard, you ran into him, almost tackling him into a hug. Crying so hard your whole body shook with each tearfall. So much your face felt hot, even as it scratched against his cloak- against the long vines. You felt his hands wrap around you. And you heard him just say your name again- an incantation. A spell to bring you back. A spell that worked. You cried as he held you, the vines around him shivering.
“What…what is it…why…why did you come here?” he asked.
You released the hug. Wiping off your tears with your sleeve like a little child. Your tone returned to the old teasing.
“You silly man! What kind of wife abandons her husband?”
Loki’s mouth opened, but he said nothing. His face was in awe.
“I came here for you! I figured out how- and I did!” you replied.
He let out a deep sigh. He lifted his white hand, caressing your cheek. You leaned into it, enjoying the intimacy, his touch that you had been deprived of, that he had been deprived of too for so long.
“You know I cannot leave this. Ever. I…I must do this, my love…I had to…to save all of them…to save you…I…I must make sure…their stories all…all are happy…are managed, well…even yours.” he voiced. His face serene, though a tear fell down across his cheek.
You then took his hand and clutched it.
“Loki, the many times you comforted me when I cried. Stood by me. Protected me when I was in danger, scared. Saved me, even. And you know how…how lonely I would get in Asgard. Who else would run to my side to comfort me…but you. I shall do that for you!”
His eyes widened.
“But…you cannot give up your home, your life!” he replied.
You shook your head.
“I will make a new one here- we will make a new one here…Thor and Frigga gave me their blessing before I left. They saw how happy we made each others…and that is what they want. I told them what you did. The people you saved…and they’re…they’re proud of you.”
He blinked rapidly, more tears falling down. You lifted two of your hands- cupping his face lovingly. He had no choice but to look in your eyes.
“When we were married, we promised, before the AllFather and AllMother to always stand by each other...I will honor the vows I made on that altar, as you honored your vows to me,” you declared.
The wind rustled above. Inside, there were a few violet buds that dangled, moving slightly. Willing the flower to open.
“My darling….Asgard will lack its princess.”
“A mere consort? No! I am not an heir to anything! A mere accessory to a throne, a part of a painting…and nothing eles? And alone? Loki, I don't need a palace, gold, riches, and titles…I only ask to be loved and safe…and Loki…you will be alone…now- you won’t be. I will stay by you. We will face this new part of your life together!”
There was a slight grown from the wood. Both of you looked about, your hands dropping. He nestled into the green cloak he wore around him. His helmet perfect for him- never once slipping off his head.
“It’s quiet here…there’s no one…nothing…a life of nothing…but making these stories” he mused.
“Then let me stay…let me help…if only…if only to be with you…I will live here. If not near- then give me access. I will stay here, come by every day. Visit for hours…just to be with you.”
“My darling…sweet, sweet wife…I was alone and I…I don’t have to…”
There were tears in his eyes.
“Thank you…thank you, my dear…”
He pressed his forehead to yours. The cold metal of the forehead touching your own. You only held hands. Felt each other- the love in your systems bursting forth.
A vine went to you, grazing against your arm. You lifted a hand.
“Which one is this?” you asked.
“This one…a man named Steve…or Marc…he’s three at once, it’s very complicated….” Loki explained.
You lifted a finger to touch it. There was a ripple. The vines shook, some of them went to you. You wondered…you lifted a hand. It allowed you to touch it. There was a small, reddish glow, it went up and through.
“You just…just…made something happen…something will occur for Steve…he’s about to learn what gifts he truly has…my dear…has this happened before?”
“No- not until now…”
“You think that…you have a certain…gift?” he asked.
The vines reacted in turn. You realzed as you touched them, you could help move these stories. Turn them- touching made something happen and Loki would tell you.
“My dear…you have a gift. One of fate…”
“Then…I guess I cannot leave now. You will help with stories. I will help with fates. We both have work to do.”
He smiled.
“Asgard now has a new goddess…” he said. You went up, and kissed him. You cried as your lips touched. And there was a shudder that went through the trees and rattled through the forest like a wind.
It was an adjustment. Making a home just outside of the remains of the earth. Fortunately, you knew enough magic to get by. To transport and conjure food. Even gather some from the nearby village. Enough to make a garden, a home.
And every day, you walked out to Yggdrasil. Vanished for hours. Then returned.
For the villagers, it was odd that a goddess of fate was just going about the streets getting groceries among them. You merely shrugged and laughed it off.
You said your husband was busy. Quite busy. He had an important job-crucial one. Yet people wondered at you- the mysterious goddess who lived in a cottage by the woods, whose husband never appeared, and vanished into the forest. The forest at the end of the world, mind you- every day and returned with a smile on her face as if nothing happened.
It was quiet and simple. No opulent balls and feasts of Asgard. But no fathers with clear favorites and tears and bloody battles with countless corpses and heartbreak either.
How often you polished the horns on his helmet and washed his cloak by the river. Then he would tell you all about what happened. Fates and stories. You would mend them, mind them. Determine what worked, what did not. And you would laugh and cry so hard over every story on earth of each person you would feel like a rag rung out…yet in a good way.
And you would wrap your arms around him. Sit on his lap on the throne, as you did back then so many times before. Kiss him and nuzzle into him. Feel his touch- remind him through the brush of your fingers through his dark curls. I am here, I am here, I am here.
It was like being remarried- A honeymoon fortress of oak, willow leaves, and flower petals. The newness of your husbands role, his abilities. As well as yours. But without everything else…no, you didn’t need anything else. Only each other.
It was a month later, you knew the change. You felt it. The suspicion. The inkling you felt since you began your journey. Counting on your fingers from when it last happened, and your journey to him began, the timing was right. The intuition. The small ringing of a bell in the back of your head getting louder, and louder with each passing week. The one reason on the backburner that was never confirmed. And now it was. You both wanted it. Hoped for it. Now, though the circumstances could have never been guessed, you would both receive your wish. The confirmation long awaited.
On Yule, you teasingly adored the tree in ribbons. Loki inside scoffed, rolling his eyes. But it only made you laugh harder. In Spring, you collect its flowers and put them in vases. In Summer, you cooled beneath it’s shade. Loki made sure your story was hte one most preciously protected, guarded. You made old charms from the flowers with his magic- for your safety and good health. Flowers worn over your head in crowns, on your neck. And in Autumn, you watched as they oranged and swirled. How lovely they were surrounding you as you held each other.
A year and a half went by before you knew it, as swift as mortals lives. the cottage had an infant girl living in it. She had dark hair, and your skin and eyes. And she was starting to walk. You held her up by both hands in the grass before the forest.
“Come along Freya! There’s a good girl! A step at a time!” you cooed at her.
Who knew what her powers would be. What she was goddess of. But here, she wasn’t a goddess. She was just a baby.
She was Babbling as the grass tickled her feet. The loving, green dress you tucked over her. You held her tiny, chubby hand as she experimentally bent her knees. Then she made a sound of triumph.
Motherhood was not going to stop your gifts and powers as a goddess of fate. You touched the vines and turned fates however. But you had to give happy ones to the friends of him. The ones who meant so much to him, did so much for him. For Mobius, you made sure his sons grew up healthy and strong and happy, with long vacations by lakes and oceans. For Ouroboros, you gave him several awards and successes as a writer and the inspiration and motivation to create, pour water into his own well, and never lose the joy of it. You made sure they all were safe and content.
You scooped little Freya up your arms, giving her a kiss on the side of her head. She was behaving well- not crying loud to wake the whole village. Needing perhaps a cradle from the vines of Yggdrasil again in Norns Know what time of night if she was especially fussy.
You walked her again to the tree. She looked out with her wide eyes. One hand trying to touch the leaves, the vines, the branches. A thing of flowers bloomed for her. One leafy vine went over to graze her cheek. She kicked in enthusiasm, giggling in such pure joy.
You smiled at her and then at Yggdrasil. Seeing the portal open once again.
Knowing he was inside again- to see her. Meet her. Hold her as he did when she was a swaddled newborn to be brought- for him to just hold her. Despite the great loneliness of Loki’s inital fate, you all did everything to change it. He would meet Freya and watch her grow up. He would see her, hold her, love her. Again. Again. And again.
You turned your face to the baby with a smile, and then to the portal door and the god of stories waiting inside.
“Freya- let’s go see your father.”

Teddy's and tantrum's-
Summary: you want, no need that turtle. But what happens when your daddy says no. Mega meltdown in 5, 4, 3...
Pairing: daddy!bucky x little!femreader
Warnings: age regression, punishment (spanking), angst, fluff.
A/N: don worry is a happy ending hehe
Your daddy never had to shout or yell, you were a good girl for daddy buck. However you had your moments and today was a big tantrum, a mega meltdown. Your attention span was short lived in a store. As soon as you discovered the toy aisle, you had a habit of letting your little legs wander to the collection of stuffies.
You’d ogle at the many layers of cuddly toys reaching with all your might to just cuddle one. Your uncle Loki had a few tricks up his sleeve that he had taught you, much to Bucky's dismay, like hiding in the small shelves of the shop hidden from the world.
Once buck found you hidden in the jumbo football crate, you just smiled back at him comfortably.
Today You practically sucked all the air out of the store, Bucky ran over to you instantly listening to your string of babbles.“What's wrong doll!” he asked his eyes checking you over to see if you were hurt.
You were in a momentary trance. you just pointed at the stuffed turtle which was staring happily. “Hab- i hab pease?” you batted your eyelashes pleadingly and then promptly bounced around, eager to take your green friend home.
But his response made you halt in your tracks. “We got stuffies at home love bugs” he cooed, nodding his head towards the checkout. Your lower lip jutted out, a power move which usually made Bucky yield, but not today. “But but wan dis one” you sniffled tugging at his plush foot.
“The answer is no baby, now come on let’s go home” he spoke firmly but was still very relaxed, he gave a soft smile.
You frowned and dug your heels in. “Baby. let’s. go.” He scowled and turned away. You paused, you were on the verge of obeying but…
“No!” You squeaked, Bucky halted and turned to see you with folded arms and an admittedly cute scowl.
“Excuse me little girl, what did you say” he hissed coldly, looking at your big frowning face.
Buck knew you were just grumpy from missing your afternoon nap, but he couldn’t let the behaviour slide.“N-no!” you stuttered angrily, folding your arms, you hesitated but remained firm. “I wanted it I good!” You yelled balling your fists, tears of frustration waiting to fall.
Within an instant he was right in front of you, his nostrils were flared and pupils dilated. “Yn I am this close to pulling you over my knee, move your ass” he whispered.
By now people started to stare, at this point you were tired, the artificial lights hurt your eyes and your dress was feeling awful itchy and frilly.
You meanie daddy! m-me no like you” you cried stomping and sticking your tongue out. you fell to the floor wriggling and sobbing, briefly recognising you were now in the air.
Were you flying? Your sobs cease momentarily to find yourself in the arms of your daddy. The car ride home was silent, well… you clawed at your car seat and cried bloody murder, but buck concentrated on the road.
By the time your daddy carried you to your room he was furious, you were toggled around like a rag doll onto his lap.
Your head hung limply and your ass was on display, “oh doll you blushin just imagine how red your ass is going to be” he growled, You whimpered and tried to stand, but bucks vibranium arm was behind your back keeping you still.
you sniff and wine showing one last show of defiance.“why are you being punished doll” he asked calmly.
You frowned and paused. You wore a heavy pout, your eyes glassy, you went to speak but were cut off by a firm hand landing heavily down on your bottom. You yipped and felt like the skin of your bottom had been stripped red raw.
As your ass bloomed a nice pink shade your daddy spoke again, with more conviction this time. “why” he repeated, you cried out in hopes of your release. you squirmed around trying to hit him with your small fists, but he managed to pin them down.
You were flooded with shame, the sound ricocheted through the air, you bit your lip muffling your sobs.
You were utterly humiliated now limp, crying you mutter a meak answer “what was that peaches I can't hear you?” he asked while leaning over to meet your tear stained face and red nose.
his heart clenched but he knew he was doing the right thing. “b-Cuz cuz i was ‘ude to dad-dy, an no listen whe- he say no” you sniffed, the tears running down your face began to tickle your nose. There was silence, you stayed still with your tears blurring your vision, you expected another blow and ready for impact.
You were lifted up easily by your daddy's strong arms turned over. You squeak as you straddle your daddy, You lowered your head in shame, hiding your tears and sheepish expression. “y/n calm down, your punishments over now its okay you did so well” all the anger dissipated his voice now soft and soothing.
Your thrashing eventually stopped and you just let your head fall crying quietly against him rubbing your sore bottom.“Baby girl, you need to understand that when I say no, I mean it. there's no ‘ifs’ or ‘buts’ okay. I'm not trying to be the bad guy doll, but you can't always have what you want. We got lots of stuffies here that love you very much okay? I know you wanted the toy, I do. But the way you behave is not how we act."
He lifted your chin to meet your gaze, The bubble burst and you wept, the realisation of your actions hit you like a punch to the gut “i sowwy- sowwy!” you repeated your little fists making wrinkles in his shirt. “I know doll its okay i forgive you” he whispered and cuddled you close.
you give a large sigh of relief, finally feeling the comfort of your daddy's arms around you. Your cheek leans against his shoulder, you admired his arm and watched it shine in the dark, your fingers eagerly fiddle with his vibranium arm.
He smiled and wiggled his fingers, as you playfully grabbed them. you soon brought your hands to your mouth, self soothing.Your red eyed tearily blinked up, to see your daddy's eyes looking calmly over you.
You were suddenly washed with a tired feeling, blinking slowly trying to fight the feeling of your eyes closing, sitting in your daddy's lap.
You whine in pain shifting around until you fully feel comfortable. You felt bucky's hand cradle your back rubbing it in soothing motions. “Sleep little one it's okay” he soothed his chest rumbling as he spoke.
“Night baby, i love you” he whispered, “wuv oo daddy” you mumbled burying your face into his arms. not long after you were completely asleep to the world, safe in the arms of your daddy.

I am his safe space || Loki || hurt/comfort ||
My main Masterlist can be found ~~here~~
Summary: Loki is locked in his cell on the Helicarrier and you come to save him but when you get to your safehouse, you find out something horrifying
A/N: well- I wrote this in 45 minutes and it's currently 1:25 am so I hope you enjoy it. I realise that I don't get a lot of reads on my stuff anymore so those who stick around to read, thank you, I love you all ❤
P.S:: yes, there's inspired scenes from Lore Olympus, see if you see it
“I don’t like it,” Captain America muttered again, staring down at the surveillance cameras that were monitoring the God of Mischief’s movements in his glass confinement, “he came willingly, great, but why?”
Thor hummed and strode over to take a look at the cameras beside the Captain, “my brother has always been a good strategist, he has a backup plan for seven other plans. He’s a snake, he can escape easily if he truly tried, I wonder why he is staying.”
“I’ll go talk to him,” Natasha began, standing from her seat and making her way down to the holding cell where the God of Mischief was casually pacing the expanse of it.
The God ceased his movements and smirked as he turned to face Natasha, “there are not many that can sneak up on me.”
“But you figured I would come,” Natasha replied easily, crossing her arms as she glared at the God before her, “why are you here, Loki? What do you want with Earth?”
Loki chuckled and walked closer to where the agent was standing, “I am here because I was captured, is that not apparent?”
“You chose to be here, you look too calm about being in there to be here against your will, what are you planning?” the redhead sneered as Loki chuckled, his smile wide and threatening.
The God stepped back and tilted his head, his blue eyes shining maniacally as his smile spread wider. Suddenly, the ship lurched and the agent had to hold onto the rail to keep herself upright.
“What did you do?!” Natasha demanded before hearing the click of heels coming down the hall. The Widow immediately jumped into action, cocking her gun and striding over to the control panel to protect it.
Loki remained silent even as the door opened and in walked a familiar figure. With a tilt of his head, Loki hummed and whispered, “Y/N.”
“Husband,” you acknowledged him with a soft smile before turning to Agent Romanoff, “you can go now, agent. My husband is in my care.”
The agent scoffed and held her gun up, pointing it at your head before it disappeared in a glow of forest green and she stared at you in surprise.
“Please,” you purred with a smirk so similar to your husband’s, “you don’t bring guns to a magic fight.”
You conjured a wave of magic and swept her away from the control panel as you walked over the railings to get to it, pressing the button that would open the door for Loki. As the God strode out, Thor slammed open the door and threw Mjolnir at you, hitting you square in the chest and sending you to the floor with an agonised scream.
“Stay down, sister,” Thor ordered before turning to his brother, “you drag her into this now?”
Loki chuckled and his magic summoned two daggers into his hands as he stood between Thor and you. “You hurt her,” he sneered, fury flaring in his eyes as he approached Thor, “you hurt my wife. As I promised in my vows to her, those who harm her shall know pain.”
You watched in horror as Thor and his brother began to fight. You knew Thor was at a disadvantage without Mjolnir while Loki benefitted with his magic. However, once Thor was thrown to the floor, his instincts took over and he summoned Mjolnir, sealing your chance of escape. Quickly, you got to your feet and disappeared in a flurry of green, taking Loki with you.
You appeared in Norway, in front of a quaint cabin that was covered in a beautiful sheet of white. You wove your arm around Loki’s waist and guided him inside, laying him down on the sofa before noticing a note on the coffee table. Curiously, you picked it up and read it.
Hello, darling,
Welcome to your new home. In every universe, this cabin will be ours. You may know me, you may not, but the door is always open for you, for Haven and for me. I love you, sweet one, don’t give up on your search.
Love,
T.S/L.O
L.O? Ah, you thought with a smile, turning to look at your husband, Loki Odinson.
“Are you alright?” you whispered, setting down the note and walking over to him, kneeling beside him as the Prince groaned and covered his eyes with his arm, “Loki. Answer me.”
“No,” came Loki’s reply, broken and hoarse and scared. “I’m not alright,” he whispered, “I’ve had a terrible year, my darling.”
You frowned and held his free hand to your cheek, leaning into it and kissing his palm, “I’m always going to be here to listen, my love. Always.”
Loki shook his head and his thumb caressed your lip before he pulled back and gripped his hair, “I can’t. I can’t speak about it. I just can’t.”
You frowned and stood, pressing a gentle kiss to his soft forehead before stepping out onto the porch and beginning a difficult combination of spells so that no one would find out where the both of you were hidden; not even Heimdall.
Once you were finished, you walked back inside and closed the door behind you and found Loki staring out of the window solemnly. His ebony hair was matted and greasy, spiking up in places due to lack of care, bags were hung under his eyes and deep purple was easily seen beside his eyes. He looked slimmer too, he had a slightly shaky hand that he hadn’t had a year ago. YOu frowned as you wondered what had happened to him.
You gently touched his shoulder and watched as he flinched before settling and melting into your comforting touch. “Tell me,” you whispered, tears forming in your eyes, “please. It’s alright. I’m right here.”
With a sigh, Loki turned to you and began to talk. The more he talked, the more the air tensed with your rage. He had been tortured, horribly so, torn apart and sewn back together as a puppet, as a replaceable toy. He was subjected to all sorts of abuse. He was shown your death countless times. The air was swarming with your built-up magic when he was done.
Once you were sure he was done, he looked at you brokenly and watched you storm out into the snow, uncaring of the dropping temperature. With a startled cry, Loki followed you.
“Y/N!” he yelled, following you into the forest desperately until he caught up to you and held your arms, “No! Y/N, please!”
“I’ll kill him,” you growled, tugging on his hands as your own glowed a sickly green and your eyes shone with power. Loki stared at you head on, appreciating that you would go to such lengths to protect him but he needed you.
“You can’t kill a titan,” he whispered brokenly, cradling your shaking arms with his hands, rubbing his thumbs on your tense muscles as tears surfaced in his eyes.
You growled and pulled the Prince closer to you, gently reaching up to cup his cheek, “you’re right. For you, I’d do so much worse.”
With a soft sigh, Loki cupped your cheek and recessed his forehead to yours, “Wait,” he whispered tenderly.
“There need to be repercussions,” you sneered, holding Loki tighter and only letting go slightly when the God winced in pain.
Loki shook his head and allowed tears to fall from his eyes, seeing how much it brought you back to him, “hurting him will not make me feel better, Y/N! If you want to help me then stay with me!”
Your eyes softened as Loki pulled you into a tight hug and your power dimmed to a halt when he whispered, “I am the one who needs you… I am the one who needs you.”
You felt him crumble in your arms as you both dropped to your knees in the snow as the God broke and cried in your arms. You frowned and held him tight, allowing him to cry as he processed his trauma. All that shit he went through with Thanos. The lot of it. Watching his children be murdered before his eyes in simulation along with you. The mental torment. You hated Thanos so much for ruining your husband but you could never hate Loki himself.
When Loki was calm, you helped him to his feet and guided him back to the cabin. He silently sat on the sofa and you brewed the kettle, pouring some tea for the both of you as you both processed what had happened.
“Loki,” you whispered, staring down into the mug of tea, “I’m sorry for losing my temper, for all of it, I just-”
“No.”
“What?” you turned to look at him in confusion, watching him raise his teacup to his lips and take a long sip before sighing.
“I said no,” he replied simply, meeting your eyes with a sad smile, “you were justified in your wrath. Trust me, I know. But that wasn’t what I needed in that moment. I just needed you.”
You nodded and set your teacup down on the coffee table, along with his cup before you got onto his lap and held his face in your hands, “until you’re ready, I will just stay by your side and keep you safe from there.”
Loki smiled brokenly and nodded, “I think I would like that, my love,” he whispered.
You leaned forward and sealed his lips with yours in a tender kiss, allowing him to whimper and cradle you closer, his eyes fluttering closed in relief. He had probably thought that you would never get to kiss him like this again. He loved you so much and missed you.
Thanos would pay for ruining your prince.

"Do you really think she's going to be fine?" Y/N asked, biting her lip nervously. Her gaze was fixated on the small baby girl, who slept peacefully in the baby car seat; pink dummy in her mouth. "Darling..." Loki began, stepping over to his wife and placing both his hands on her shoulders, giving them a reassuring squeeze. "I promise you, Ella will be perfectly fine. The Bifrost is not going to harm her. Trust me." The young woman inhaled deeply, but gave her Prince a soft smile. "Have I ever not trusted you, Lokes?" "Have I ever given you a reason to not trust me?" The cunning Trickster winked with a smirk. Y/N rolled her eyes playfully at his repartee. "No." His hands travelled up to cup her cheeks, "See?" before he dipped his head to press a soft kiss on her lips. "Shall we leave then? I bet my parents are expecting us already." Y/N nodded, "Yes. Let's go." and grabbed Ella's changing bag, while Loki squatted down in front of the baby car seat, carefully unbuckling the straps, which secured her. Loki already felt bad for what he was about to do, but it was better that way... He slipped his hands underneath Ella's small body and lifted her up - what caused her to slightly stir already. Loki held her with one arm and bounced her gently up and down in order to somehow wake her up. They had both agreed, that it was probably for the best, if Ella was awake for her first proper travel experience with the Bifrost - not to irritate her or something.
Her face contorted in her sleep, a frown spreading on her forehead. "Come one, baby girl, wake up." He stroked her cheeks in addition and pinched softly - not to hurt her, her tiny feet, which were wrapped up in the footsies of the white, pink rompers she wore. That caused her to finally wake up, big blue eyes fluttering open. On an instant, the small girl started to whimper and whine, causing the dummy to fall from her mouth on Loki's arm. "I know, princess, I know..." Loki whispered, pressing small kisses on her head. "Daddy is so sorry, but it's better that way..." Those words didn't seem to reassure Ella. She was still upset that her sleep has been so rudely interrupted; small cries leaving her pouty lips. Not even a kiss from her mama could help... Loki grabbed with his free hand the baby car seat, continuously bouncing Ella on his other arm, trying to calm her down. "Ready, love?" Loki asked, looking compassionately at Y/N, knowing that she had been quite a bit anxious about that. Also, because the Bifrost made her throw up most of the times... "Yeah." "Alright. Hold on to me?" The Y/H/C haired woman nodded once again and wrapped her arms around Loki's waist, changing bag slung over her shoulder. The prince looked up at the ceiling. "Heimdall? We are rea-" He couldn't even finish his sentence, before the familiar rainbow light swallowed them whole. While Y/N let out a squeal and held on to her husband for dear life, Ella had stopped her crying, surprised by the sudden change of her surroundings. She looked around, before her wide blue eyes met her father's identical ones, tiny mouth agape. Loki smiled at his daughter, witnessed how her confusion turned into fascination. No second later, the tiny girl started to giggle, looking around in awe, watching how the rainbow lights danced in front of her eyes. Unfortunately, it was over very soon, as Loki and Y/N felt the Asgardian ground beneath their feet. "Oh gods, not again..." Groaned the woman, immediately turning away from her God to, well... Throw up. What else?
"Every time..." She whined, turning back, only to see Loki smiling amusingly. "Stop laughing! That's not funny!" Y/N slapped his arm. "I'm sorry, darling." Loki quickly apologised and kissed her. "But... Look! Ella's fine! She even had her fun. Giggled through the whole travel, right princess?" He teased Y/N a bit, kissing Ella on her head again. "You're being mean." Loki chuckled. "No, I am not." She crossed her arms over her chest. "Yes, you are." "No, I am not. I just stated the facts." Y/N pouted. "I love you. Now come on." He reached out his hand for Y/N to take. She sighed, but of course, took it. "Love you too, you cheeky, mischievous scamp." This caused Loki to chuckle again.
Together they made their way to the palace, passing by Heimdall, of course. "Heimdall." The raven-haired man greeted him with a nod. "Prince Loki, Princess Y/N... The carriage awaits you." He took a small bow and smiled at the couple. It was the third time for Y/N that she had the privilege to enter one of Asgards golden carriages, drawn by two white horses - and she was still totally enchanted by it, feeling like the princess she actually was. For Ella, it was the first time. Okay, strictly speaking it was her second time, but Y/N didn't count the one time when she had been pregnant. Loki handed Ella over to her mother and turned to open the golden door of the carriage for his girls, being the charming gentleman he was. "My princesses..." He said with a smile, gesturing inside the carriage. Y/N giggled and curtsied, "Thank you, my prince." before she climbed inside. Loki followed after, baby car seat in hands. When they were all seated properly, the carriage set into motion. Y/N couldn't help the giddy feeling inside her. She still quite couldn't grasp after all those years that she was practically speaking royalty. And yet she looked so 'Midgardian' - as Loki would put it. A normal summer dress and ballerinas. She suppressed a giggle. "What is it, love?" Loki asked, an amused smile on his face. "Nothing, babe. It's just... I still can't believe I am a princess and looking so... normal." He chuckled. "Well, I am not better, am I?" "You are. You're at least wearing a shirt and suit trousers." They had a laugh together, while Ella was in Y/N's lap, dummy back in her mouth and already half asleep again. "Seems like riding a carriage lulls her to sleep." Loki stated, smiling down at the baby girl. "Seems so, yeah..."
Once they had reached the big, spacious, golden palace of Asgard, they went straight for the gardens, where they had been already awaited for tea-time…
"Mother." Loki smiled, when he approached the golden garden table, at which Frigga sat, seemingly enjoying the sun on her skin. The prince's voice caught her attention, of course and Frigga stood immediately up, meeting her son on the way. "Loki." The Queen smiled and wrapped him up in a big hug. "Hello, mother." Y/N stood behind, watched with a smile. Her heart clenched at the sight. She adored the deep bond Loki shared with Frigga. Ella was in her arms, cooing away softly, still on the verge of entering the world of dreams. After Frigga had greeted Loki, she moved past him towards her daughter-in-law and granddaughter. "Y/N, my dear." The two women hugged each other carefully, not to hurt Ella. "Hey, Frigga." "It's so great to see you again, dear. It's been a while..." That was true. Frigga had lastly seen her and Ella in the days after the birth. "That's quite right... I am sorry that we are just now come to visit." Frigga shook immediately her head. "Please don't apologise. It's alright. I understand that you wanted to wait until Ella is a bit older to travel with the Bifrost and take her with you. Thor and Jane did the same with Eisa, didn't they tell you?" "No. We talked about a lot but not about the obvious." Y/N said, giggling softly. "Thank you for understanding." "Of course!" An adorable coo from Ella, attracted immediately Frigga's attention. She looked down, smiling. "Oh, hello, my sweet little princess!" Ella looked up at her grandmother, smiling, despite the dummy in her mouth. "May I hold her?" Y/N nodded, "Of course!" and handed the baby over. "She has grown so much..." Stated the queen. "But she still looks like her father." Her gaze wandered to Loki, who held a smile on his face as well. They exchanged a look who spoke more than words could do. The proudness, love and happiness in Frigga's eyes...
"Speaking of fathers... Where is the Allfather?" The God asked. "He had been delayed beforehand and had to do something important. But he should be here soon." Loki nodded and thought for a moment. "Do you know where he is?" "In our chambers, I think." Another beat of silence passed. "Mother, may I have Ella back? I'd like to... Go to him and, uh, do this alone." He gazed at his wife. "Y/N, darling, is that alright? I-I feel like I have to do this alone." Y/N smiled and stepped closer, taking his hand in hers, giving it a squeeze. "It's okay. I know how important this is for you." She kissed him softly, before releasing his hand. "Thank you." He whispered, before taking his daughter in his arms. "Mother, I-" Frigga just nodded and gave him a reassuring smile. "I know." See, it wasn't the first time Frigga saw her granddaughter... But it was the first time Odin would meet Ella. At the time of the birth, he hadn't been in Asgard. An important negotiation had forced him to make his way to Vanaheim that week and causing him to miss Ella's birth. The queen cupped her son's cheek. "Go to him." He nodded and made his way back inside the palace.
Loki's and Odin's father-son relationship hadn't always been the best - let's put it that way. There were difficult times and quite a lot of troubles they went through. Loki's heritage for example. Or that Thor had always been preferred over him by Odin. Luckily, they overcame those obstacles - together as a family and since Loki had Y/N in his life, everything had turned to the better for him anyway. By now, Odin and Loki's bond was stable. Not as deep as Loki's and Frigga's, but it was there. Loki had stopped proving to his father that he could be as good as his older brother or better and started to just be himself. He learned to accept his Jotun form; learned that a throne wasn't the glorious purpose he was looking for. His family was - and that was one reason why it was so important for the prince to have this upcoming moment with his father alone. Loki had grown, was more a man than he ever was before. He was a husband. A father. He had found the meaning of his life, without a doubt.
"Father?" Loki said after taking a deep breath, knocking at the big, pretentious door of his parent's chambers. The door got opened by a guard. "Prince Loki." He bowed. "Is my father...? Can I...?" Loki stammered, quite a bit nervous. Why was he nervous? "I'll ask the king." With those words, the guard disappeared again. Ella seemed to feel her father's nervosity. She started to whimper, tiny feet kicking against Loki's arm. "Hey, p, don't cry. Shhh, it's okay." He started to rock her gently, peppering small kisses on her chubby cheeks. "Your daddy is just a bit nervous, 'cause you're going to meet his daddy." To hear her father's calming voice seemed to reassure Ella a bit again and she got quieter. Moments later, the guard returned. "The king would like to see you." The guard stepped aside, granting Loki access. Odin stood on the majestically balcony, looking over his kingdom. Of course, he heard his son's approaching steps. "My apologies, son. I'd have loved to join you, Y/N and my wife sooner, but there was this incident I needed to take care of and-" By now, Odin had turned around and froze immediately mid-sentence, when he saw Loki standing only a few steps behind him, with a soft smile on his face - and his granddaughter in his arms. A shaking breath left the older man's lips. "Son, is that...?" Loki nodded quickly, "Father... Meet Ella - your granddaughter." and stepped closer, so that Odin was able to see her properly. Big blue eyes, meeting his eye. The tiny girl looked up at the other man in awe. It was a face she had never seen before. So, they just stared at each other. Was the Allfather... speechless? "Would you... Would you like to hold her?" Loki asked, quite a bit clumsily. Odin just nodded without saying a word. A few seconds later was Ella in his arms, eyes still locked on the older man she didn't know. It took her a few moments to feel comfortable, knowing that she was safe and that nothing was happening to her. Maybe she sensed that Odin was her grandfather? The familiarity? Ella started to smile and coo softly, reaching up her tiny hand to touch the Allfather's cheek and beard. It was a heart-warming moment. Loki felt it, saw the adoration in his father's eye - and was that a tear, rolling down the old man's face? The young God's heart threatened to break through his ribcage, it was beating that fast. Once Odin was able to tear his eye away from the small baby girl, he immediately looked at his son. "She is absolutely beautiful." He said with a smile, before he reached out and placed a hand on Loki's shoulder. "I am so proud of you, my son. Now you understand the true meaning of life. Protecting and caring for this small creature in my arms. Look, how far you've come. You're not the man you've been all those years ago. You found love, have a wonderful woman by your side and now you're a father. You are wiser, stronger and much more mature. Better... You are happier. I couldn't be prouder as I am now, in this moment." Odin smiled - genuinely, proudly and patted his son's shoulder. Loki couldn't believe his ears, had to suppress the upcoming tears. His father never said something like this before - and it made the young God incredibly happy. It meant a lot to him. "Thank you, father." The Allfather nodded and patted Loki's shoulder again. "Now let's join our women. I'm sure they are awaiting us already. It's tea-time after all." He watched his father turn around and leave, Ella still happily gurgling in his arms. Loki smiled. What more could he want for his life?

Hii! Can you write something with Det. Loki coming home tiiiired and his girl/wife comforting him or taking care of him
Love you!
late night comfort
pairing: david loki x reader
AN: THIS REQUEST IS SO CUTE, TYSM FOR THIS ANON ILY AND I HOPE YOU ENJOY! <33
WARNINGS: some language, and i think that’s it tbh 😭
you yawn, leaning back on the couch as you down your 4th cup of coffee. you were tired of missing david when he came home because you usually couldn’t stay up past 11:00, so here you were, sitting awake on the couch hopped up on caffeine at 3AM.
you mindlessly watch the television, getting up to glance out the window every 10 minutes or so in hopes to see your boyfriend walking up the steps.
finally, around 3:30 the lock turns and a disheveled david steps inside. he sighs, plopping his briefcase and coat down by his shoes. his eyes scan the room, wondering why the lights were on, until he spotted you. his tired eyes seem to almost light up as he greets you with a smile.
“why’re you up honey?” he mumbles, tiredness evident in his voice as he sleepily pads over to you.
“i was waiting for you. i hate falling asleep before you get home” you smile softly, standing on your tippy toes to greet him with a kiss. he hums, kissing you back softly before embracing you in a hug. his chin rests on your shoulder as he rocks side to side with you in his arms. his larger frame basically engulfed you, and you knew he could fall asleep right then and there if you let him.
“now come on, let’s get you into some comfier clothes” you whisper, leading him to the bedroom where you hand him some pajama pants and a t shirt. you were already in pajamas, which consisted of underwear and one of david’s t shirts. once he changed, you noticed a gash on his forehead.
“hey.. what happened?” you ask, brows furrowed as you graze your fingers across the wound. “it’s nothing, just a small mishap at work” he says, looking down at you in almost disbelief. he didn’t feel like he deserved someone caring for him like this, someone like you.
before he knew it, he was dragged out of his thoughts as you tug him into the bathroom, sitting him down on the toilet seat. you stand between his legs, carefully cleaning the wound and placing a bandage on top.
“there, that’s much better” you smile, giving him another small kiss and pushing his messy hair back with your hand. “now let’s get to bed”. the two of you make your way to the bedroom, sliding under the thick covers.
“god, i don’t deserve you” david says, his head turning to look at you. you turn, brows furrowed as you stare back into his icy blue eyes, the room only illuminated by moonlight.
“don’t say that, D. seriously. you deserve all of the love and care in the world. you go out there almost every day, putting your life on the line for this town, while simultaneously being the best boyfriend i could ever ask for. this is the literal least i could do for you. i fucking love you, okay?” you respond, propping yourself on your elbow as you continue to look at him. david could tell you meant every word you said.
david’s features soften, his hands moving to your cheeks, pulling you in for a deep kiss. you kiss back, giggling as david moves so he’s laying on top of you, his legs in between yours.
“i love you too, YN. so god damn much” he gives a genuine smile, and then a big yawn.
“alright alright, you need sleep. and so do i” you tease, kissing the tip of his nose and smiling as he moves down so he can lay with his head on your chest. you play with his hair mindlessly, watching his eyes flutter closed, soft snores now emitting from him. you fall asleep soon after, any and all problems forgotten from both of your minds as you sleep peacefully through the night.
GAAAAHHHH I LOVED WRITING THIS!!! everyone give anon a round of applause for this amazing idea!
if anyone else has requests, please send them in!

Close Quarters
Summary: A prank gone wrong leaves both you and Loki stranded in a Vanir prison cell; arguments ensue, feelings revealed...maybe it’s not too bad of an experience after all.
Pairing: Loki x Asgardian!Reader
Warning: angst if you squint
This was not what you were used to.
You were used to a room surrounded in a subtle golden glow. A room filled with a plethora of books, a comfortable bed with fresh linens, and comfortable clothes.
Not some damp and disgusting dump that contained a lumpy mattress and a paper-thin blanket.
Contrary to popular belief, you did have some sort of standards--even as low as they were--this atrocious room (if it could actually be called one) did not meet those standards.
“Well, this is a fabulous change in scenery.”
Loki scoffed, “We’re in a filthy prison cell, Y/n.”
You rolled your eyes, “I was being sarcastic!”
It was no surprise to anyone that you had both managed to find your way back into one. You had frequented the Asgardian prison like a drunkard would an alehouse.
But those conditions were like Valhalla compared to this...trash.
“Now, I know what you’re thinking: Oh no! Loki and Yn have once again been locked in a cage. How did this happen?”
You paused for dramatic effect, “It all started when someone *cough* Loki *cough* felt the need to cause some chaos. Of course, with me being the greatest friend in the cosmos, I agreed to help him. Together, we sought off to unleash the Mare, to plague Thor’s sleep with terrifying nightmares. But alas, we were caught by the Vanir, and wound up in the place they deem a prison cell!”
Loki growled, “Y/n, as much as I love you telling the stories of our adventures, I’m sure that the poor soul that once lived within that rotting skeleton does not appreciate it!”
You huffed, “Norns, Lokes. I was just trying to lighten the mood.” With a final roll of your eyes, you stomped to the other side of the cell and plopped yourself on the...chair?
Norns, you hoped it was a chair.
With a sigh, Loki made his way over. “I apologise for being so short with you, Darling. I just want to find a way to get you back home.”
Your heart fluttered at thought of him wanting to protect you; him wanting to ensure your safety and arrival back to Asgard.
You couldn’t deny the feelings that had slowly crept into your heart over the centuries for the one that you called best friend. The sense of protectiveness he felt over you and knowing that he wanted you safe-
“You want to get me home?” You whispered.
All you got was a nod in response.
“YOU WANT ME TO GET HOME?”
He cringed. He knew he was in trouble now.
“Only me? What about you? I cannot leave the Prince of Asgard to rot in this abhorred cell alone!” You pretty much screamed at him.
“I will not be leaving my...best friend in this filth!”
(A/N let’s change things up..have a Loki POV for once)
His head snapped up at the pause. The feeling that only occurred when you were close was once again present. What did the pause mean?
Did it mean that you felt the same overwhelming fluttering feeling in your stomach when you were close?
Did it mean that you felt the sense of safety whenever the both of you were cuddling on the couch in the library in the middle of the night?
Were his feelings actually reciprocated?
He needed to know if you felt the same way. So, he did the only thing he could think of.
He cupped your face and slammed his lips onto your own; kissing you with a need he didn’t know he had.
Fear shot through him at your lack of response. Maybe he had read the signals wrong...and you were only interested in him platonically? But that fear was soon eradicated when he felt your lips dance with his own. The only word coming to mind being Valhalla.
Grabbing your waist, he pulled you closer. He needed the contact. He needed to know that this wasn’t just a dream. He needed to know that he was in this godforsaken prison cell, kissing the love of his life. That he wasn’t going to wake up in a few minutes to an empty bed and have to come to the depressing realisation that his subconscious made this up.
Pulling his lips away from yours was probably the hardest thing he ever had to do in his millennium of life. As his forehead rested on yours, the realisation that his dreams never made it this far crept up on him.
Opening his eyes, he softly gazed into your e/c ones; the ones that he so loved. This was real.
You brought him out of his thought with a soft kiss to his lips. “Maybe the bacteria-infested prison cell was a nice change of scenery.”
He grinned, “That may be so, my love.”
He took a deep breath, “That may be so.”
Locking his lips with yours was something that he could get used to.
Probably not the best...but oh well :)

Breakfast with a King, How Romantic. | GIBP II
Pairing: fey!Loki x fem!reader
Chapter Summary: Loki tells his court about your arrival & the two of you have breakfast together.
Warnings: None!
Word Count: 5.2k
A/N: So this chapter was originally supposed to be longer, but in the midst of finals I only had time to edit about half of it, so here it is! And also, I know I’ve added a bunch of marvel characters to this world, but I promise it’s about it! Hope you enjoy! It makes my day to hear what you think! <3
When Loki awoke a little before dawn, his body felt unnaturally tired but he ignored the feeling and pushed out of bed. It was nothing a little coffee and breakfast wouldn’t cure and he got ready for another day of fending off the vultures that were his council. He stopped for a moment, half dressed, reminding himself to breathe. Walking out of his room as anything other than king would only jeopardize everything he’d been working toward.
Before leaving for the kitchen, he listened for any sound that YN might be awake. The silence reassured him that she wasn’t about to walk out of her room and ruin his entire plan before he had a chance to properly put in place. He didn’t want the council getting wind of her arrival before the pre-dinner drinks tonight.
The hallways were empty at this hour and he was thankful he could mosey over to the kitchen through hooded lids and heavy steps. Loki basked in the silence until laughter burst from the kitchen, letting him know his court was already there. He had been hoping to get something in his stomach before answering all their questions, but they’d beat him here. The thought of going back to bed crossed his mind, but he rarely had all of them in the palace at the same time and knew he had to catch Bucky before his assassin disappeared for the next few days.
Bucky smirked when Loki walked in, “rough night?”
The Dark Elf was in a good mood this morning, the brollochan that shrouded him like dark smoke wafting further away from him than usual. The air around Bucky was cold and dead, but the morning bustle of the cooks and the heat of the kitchen smothered most of it — one of the few reasons they spent more time in here than in any of their offices. Bucky took a bite of his muffin, pale blue eyes assessing then took his booted feet off the table and sat up straighter. Loki had been hoping he’d be able to pretend nothing had happened last night until he’d eaten something, but nothing got past his assassin.
“What happened?” Bucky asked, light-hearted grin gone.
The tone caught his commander’s attention. The angel righted, breaking off her conversation with Gamora to come a little closer. Gamora stayed where she was, a knowing little smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. She knew exactly what was going on, but she’d be no help to him, choosing to sit back and enjoy the show instead.
Loki’s master of information cocked her head curiously with a kind of calm opposite to the tense energy that radiated from his assassin and commander. He nodded at Wanda and took in a deep breath.
“Can I get myself a coffee before the interrogation begins?” Loki asked.
Nebula raised a brow, tucking in her metallic, indigo wings to let him go by, “that’s already your second this week.”
“Next week I won’t have any,” he grumped, then tried to soften his tone, knowing the coffee and chocolate rations weren’t any more her fault than his own, “I found YN.”
Everyone stopped moving.
“Where is she?” Nebula, never one to be stunned for long, was all business, her mind already going through a million different scenarios.
Loki knew he was about to be scolded so her turned toward the counter to make his coffee, “sleeping in the princess’ room.”
“And you didn’t think to wake any of us?” she snapped, “just because that thing gave us her name doesn’t mean that YN isn’t a threat to us.”
“I’m pretty sure he knows that, Neb,” Bucky chuckled, shooting her a teasing grin that earned him a punch on the arm, “Loki can take of himself…Or at least I hope he can. And anyways, if we’ve never heard of her, she can’t be all that powerful a fey.”
Loki only tensed for a second but he should have known they wouldn’t miss it.
“She is Fey, right?” Wanda asked warily.
Loki turned around slowly, his court’s eyes all on him with an intensity he knew was justified. They’d been trying to find YN for over two moons now and when they’d concocted this fake queen plan, they had always assumed she would be Fey. Convincing the council that Loki had a love he’d been keeping secret for all this time and been near impossible when he’d only had a name to go on. Finding her, only to realize she was human, didn’t make things much easier.
He shook his head.
Wanda bounced her fork up and down off her other thumb, “what is she?”
Gamora answered before Loki could, “human.”
They all whirled to face her. Loki was about to ask her why she hadn’t warned any of them about this if she’d seen what YN was, but she pressed before he had a chance to.
“No I didn’t see it,” she snapped as if she’d read his mind, “I saw her wandering the halls on my way here, and unless she’s an elemental, she looked very much human to me.”
Loki’s heart dropped in his chest.
“You let her roam free?” Nebula shouted incredulously, her wings flaring slightly.
He winced, “technically, I left her in her room.”
Bucky grinned, a look that earned him a deadly stare from Nebula, “you’re off to a great start with your future queen,” he laughed.
“We won’t have a future queen if she’s wandering around the palace and gets caught by the wrong people,” she chided, “is that what you two fangslugs want?”
Bucky tossed her a a bread roll that she caught deftly mid-flight, “between the five of us, I think we can find one human.”
Loki gulped down his scalding coffee and was about to rush out but was hit with a thought before he could make it past the door.
He spun to face his court, “no one approaches her for now. She’s human in a realm full of Fey and a palace full of council members who won’t hesitate to make her life miserable. I don’t want her scaring.”
“Don’t you think a friendly face would help?” Wanda pointed out, sliding the pad of butter to the least friendly face there.
Nebula scowled.
Bucky crossed his arms, a cheeky grin on his face, “I don’t know what you mean? We’re friendly.”
Loki couldn’t help but chuckle, “somehow I doubt a human will find any of you friendly looking.”
“If she walks into the library and finds me,” Maximoff said, grinning along with the rest of them, “there’s nothing I can do about it. I’m just doing my job.”
Loki knew that out of all of them, Wandas human-like appearance probably made her the least threatening. He nodded thoughtfully, “Maximoff, do your thing. If she finds you fine, but don’t seek her out. Everyone else, give her space.”
Wanda gave him a thumbs up, “sure. You’d better go find her, Laufeyson. Who knows where this terrified human you’ve brought to our palace has ended up.”
Loki rolled his eyes at Wanda’s sass but knew she was right. He needed to find YN before she did something incredibly stupid.
The halls were quiet this early in the morning, but you did cross several maids as you roamed. Few had looked up as you’d walked past and the ones that did, didn’t let show that there was anything strange with your being here.
You were surprised you’d managed to get some sleep after what had happened last night. The only explanation was that you’d never slept in a bed so comfortable in your life and that it had somehow managed to combat your whirling mind. Once you’d woken up though, you knew there was no point staying in bed. If you could find the Hand before the king found you, then you could be out of here before you had to fulfill your end of the bargain. And that was a gamble you were willing to take.
The pendant was heavy against your chest and you had the sinking feeling that it was colder than it was yesterday. You stopped at an intersection in the corridors, twirling it between your fingers, trying to settle the mix of anger and fear bubbling up inside you. You felt rooted to the floor, lost in a maze of hallways, wearing a stranger’s clothes you’d found last night in a drawer. You didn’t know what you were doing. You wanted Nat at your side. You wanted to know that she was safe and that everything would be okay. You wanted to know that all the time you’d be spending here wouldn’t make everything worse, but you knew all those wishes were in vain. The two of you had barely been managing for too long now, and your luck was bound to run out sometime. You couldn’t help but feel terrified that the sometime was now.
You stopped picking at the skin on your lip, rolled your shoulders back and jut up your chin. It wasn’t much more than the illusion of confidence, but the act made you feel a little better anyways. Worrying and complaining would only set you in the wrong direction. Pick a destination and steer toward it, my little lion. The memory of his voice steadied your heart and you focused on your two choices: find the Hand or pretend to be the future queen of Asgard. No pressure either way, right? You snorted. Right.
“Do you always mutter to yourself?” he asked.
You jumped. You hadn’t even heard him come up and you definitely didn’t realize you’d been talking out-loud. You closed your eyes, not wanting to turn around just yet. Deep down, you knew he’d find you. You’d just hoped it wouldn’t have been this soon.
“Was there anywhere in particular you were planning on going?” the king continued once he realized you weren’t going dignify your muttering with an answer.
“No,” you sighed, “just somewhere that wasn’t with you.”
“Unfortunately for you, the whole point of this thing is for us to be seen together,” he pointed out, “and before someone kicks you out of the palace for not knowing who you are, I would recommend that more people see us together.”
You turned, “stellar plan, king of Asgard. Did you come up with that all on your own?”
He raised a brow.
He stood a few paces in front of you, dressed in a dark tunic, looking fresh as a daisy with his damp hair neatly slicked back. His expression flirted the line between bored and curious as if there was nothing in the world that could faze someone like him — other than maybe his sister trying to steal the throne from him, and even then, he’d been so flippant about it, you didn’t doubt for a second he was used to getting his way all the time. A coward and a spoiled brat. You were going to have to find the Hand before this sham of a coronation, because you weren’t sure how convincing you’d manage to be.
“I did think of it all by myself,” he said, “but it would have been more if effective if it had occurred to you first.”
You crossed your arms, “maybe I wanted to get kicked out.”
“Then why didn’t you leave last night?” he asked, the beginnings of an infuriating smirk tugging at his lips.
“I wanted to sleep in a comfy bed,” you retorted, but even to your ears, you knew it was weak.
You both knew that you had no reason to leave.
Seeming satisfied that he’d won, he said, “you must be hungry.”
You didn’t know why your first instinct was to refuse him, but you knew it was a stupid reaction. Just because you didn’t want anything to do with him didn’t mean that you were going to let yourself starve. Letting him feed you wasn’t letting him win — your pride wasn’t going to get in the way of basic necessities. Your stomach answer before you could anyways.
He nodded at the sound, “there’s a quiet terrace in the city that serves delicious breakfast if you’d like to eat there.”
“In view of a whole bunch of people?” you mocked.
“Very few, actually, and all regular citizens. I didn’t think you’d enjoy being the centre of attention on your first day here, but if you’re up and looking for trouble, we can always go down to the dinning hall and eat with the soldiers,” he replied with a wicked grin.
“That’s fine,” you grumbled. It wasn’t that you didn’t think you could handle the attention. You just didn’t think it was worth the effort.
“Really?” he half turned as he was ready to head there right away, “it’s no trouble.”
You snorted and pushed past him. Then you quickly realized that you had no idea where in the seven hells you were going. Gritting your teeth, you turned around and to find a fully-fledged arrogant smirk on his lips. You tried not to let your anger get the best of you and motioned for him to lead the way even though it killed you to do it. He pursed his lips as if he was trying not to laugh. You forced a long inhale through your nose, ignoring the itchy feeling at the base of your spine.
“We’ll need to get you more clothes,” he said, glancing at your makeshift outfit as he strolled down the hallway, “it wasn’t today’s plan, but seeing as we’ll be near there, we can stop after breakfast.”
You ignored his pointed tone and took note of the way you were going, doing your best to orient yourself in the maze of hallways that all looked the same. The route you were taking didn’t seem the most direct, but did seem more deserted than some of the others you’d walked down. You tried to convince yourself that he wasn’t doing it to confuse you but it was hard to when he’d just finished saying how we should be seen together.
“Am I going to be able to do anything on my own?” you demanded, suddenly realizing that you were going somewhere with him after breakfast.
He stopped and listened, turning in the opposite direction of where you’d been heading as if he was avoiding something. Yet, his voice was casual when he said, “most of the time.”
You were only partly relieved. You were still going to have to go through a slew of theatrics to get the Hand. You were still going to have to pretend to be in love with him. You were still going to have to be queen…You didn’t know why the thoughts were running through your head now even though you’d agreed to them last night. This was real. This was happening. You were going to have to behave like a queen. You were going to have to behave like a woman in lov—
“I think we should set ground rules,” you blurted.
He raised a brow.
“Limits,” you supplied, “you know, boundaries. Respect. Or is that not a thing here?”
“Why don’t we wait until we’re out of the palace to discuss these matters.”
It was phrased as a question, but there was a warning in his voice. You nodded, realizing he had a point. There might not have been anyone around at the moment, but you weren’t going to get caught because of something this stupid. The surprise on his face when you didn’t say anything made you want to call him a whole slew of names. You were smart enough to figure things out and knew how to hold your tongue when you had to — even if you hadn’t done a very good job of it so far around him.
He led you through gates you hadn’t noticed on your break in, heading out the back of the palace. You tried to decipher what part of the city you were walking into, but it was nothing like the port market. Actually, it looked like you’d just stepped into a completely different realm.
The palace was set at the top of a massive valley, with a maze of streets and colourful building sprawling down the jungled mountain sides to a wide river at its base. The streets were made of pale yellow cobblestone that practically growled in the early morning sun, the narrow streets winding dangerously down the hill.
Beautiful, lush vines with orange flowers lined the tops of buildings, their fragrance mingling with the smell of morning dew, and their rooftops made of some kind of metal that reflected the sun and made it look as if the old gods had lit them on fire. The houses and shops were dyed bright purples, yellows, and turquoise and the air crackled with magic, hope and possibilities.
Despite the hour, a number of people were milling about, already up and ready for their day. Most of the citizens were Fey, but there were Dwarves, Elves, a few demons and you were sure, the longer you walked through the streets, that you’d see people from all 9 realms. Most of the nodded their ‘hello’s when they saw him and continued on their way with a bright smile. No one seemed surprised to see the king strolling through their streets. If the streets in Niflheim ever looked like this, it could only have been during a time when Odin wasn’t king. You inhale the warm weather and the peaceful energy of these people, trying not to be angry at them for a decision their king made hundreds of yers ago.
“This is Natalos,” he explained, taking you down a smaller alley, “it’s Asgard’s capitol city and it can only be accessed through the palace. There are a few other cities on the island, but mainly, everyone lives here. The city is naturally protected by the valley walls and the river. Those of us of at the palace guard the only other way in.”
You tried to ignore your surprise. Just because these people had built their city in a way that put their king on the front lines didn’t excuse them for cowering in the first place. In an attempt to conceal your emotions, you asked a different question.
“What was the market I walked into?”
He smirked, “a market. The vendors here trade with outsiders whenever they need supplies but they can do so in a space that keeps their homes and their families far away from possible threats.”
You clenched your jaw, trying and failing to keep your face impassive. He knew there were threats. He’d made all of you outsiders and left you to those threats. You wanted to shake him. You wanted to ask what in the seven hells he’d been thinking during the war, but the peaceful city around you was your answer. Their home was intact and they had the ability to keep it that way with magic — magic far beyond your comprehension. You tried to swallow the lump in your throat and you couldn’t take a deep breath to save your life. You were so far out of your league without your abilities. You’d gotten used to only relying on your human senses, but you couldn’t even trust those here. You tried to tell yourself that this was no different than being in Odin’s palace, but for some reason, it wasn’t working. You could feel yourself panicking and you didn’t know how to stop it.
“For someone who broke into a palace guarded by magic and then preceded to point a dagger at me, you seem awfully worried about a simple breakfast,” he commented, stopping in front of a tiny door.
You didn’t bother with an answer and focused on your breathing, especially that the same dagger he was talking about was tucked into your boot. That particular thought eased your pounding heart. He shrugged and lead the way, bending over in half to fit through the door. There were a few tables in the dimly lit restaurant, all of which were already filled with people and steaming plates of food. A young dwarf who didn’t look past the age of thirty approached with a warm smile for the king. Her long black hair was tied back in a series of intricate braids and she had an apron pulled over her simple shirt and pants.
“You’re here earlier than expected, King Laufeyson,” she said by way of greeting, her voice surprisingly deep, even for a dwarf.
He took her hand gently in his, “my apologies. Something unexpected happened this morning. I hope we haven’t caused you any inconveniences.”
He didn’t look at you, but it wasn’t hard to guess that you were the something that had happened this morning. At least now I had something of a name for him.
“Always so polite our king,” she looked you up and down with a pleased little grin on her face, “come. I’ve prepared the terrace as you asked.”
You followed her out the back door and your breath caught in your throat. You had spent so long living in Flaik that you had almost forgotten what lush jungles were like, their massive trees acting like tent filtering the light through leaves like liquid gold. Everything was such a deep green, with only a few flowers in bloom this time of year. The sight almost brought tears to your eyes. You had been so sure you would never see anything that resembled home ever again and you took in a deep breath as if you could hold a piece of your surroundings inside of you. It wasn’t quite like home, but it was close.
You opened your eyes, not realizing that you’d closed them. He was staring at you, his hands on the back of his chair, his head cocked to the side. You glared at him and sat down. He rolled his eyes and took a seat in front of you.
“I’ll be back with water,” the dwarf said, glancing between the two of you with that same knowing smirk on her face.
“Thank you, Volula,” he murmured, leaning back in his chair as if it was a sofa.
Laufeyson didn’t say anything, staring at you. He was all cheekbones and sharp edges and looked far too pretty for his own good. His eyes, almost glowing green against the jungle, gave away nothing more than faint amusement. You would have said he was bored if you hadn’t been able to feel the energy in the air, drawn tight as if he was a wolf stalking its prey.
“Your population is very diverse,” you said when you couldn’t take the silence any longer.
He shrugged as if the war hadn’t made all the realms wary of one another, and opened his menu,“it just happened that way.”
Your fingers tightened around the fork you had unwittingly started playing with. You forced yourself to let it go gently and place your hands on your lap where he couldn’t see them.
“What about the population where you’re from? he asked, keeping his eyes on the menu.
“We’re not going there,” you warned.
“So I’m not going to know anything about you? Seems like a great plan,” he said, folding his menu shut, “but, as long as it convinces the council, it’s fine with me.”
“Good.”
“Good.”
You held his gaze, daring him to tell you that this wasn’t going to work unless you told him every single detail about your life, but he didn’t push like you thought he would, eventually raising a brow as if it was your turn to say something. It only made you trust him less. Who let a complete stranger — a thief at that — become queen of their realm without knowing a single thing about them? There had to be hundreds of other women who would gladly do it. It didn’t make sense and you hated that you had no idea what he was planning.
Volula came back, a bright smile on her face, “have we decided yet?”
Laufeyson tilted his head, looking to you as if you’d been the one she was talking to. You hadn’t even looked at the menu, but you weren’t about to ask him for advice.
“I’ll take your most popular breakfast,” you answered with a polite smile.
She nodded and turned to the king, “the usual?”
He smiled, “that would be wonderful. Thank you.”
She let you know that she would be back soon with the food and busied off to one of the other tables on the terrace. You searched for the anxiety that was always palpable whenever Odin was around civilians, but there was nothing like that here. Everyone had seen the king walk in, but no one had paid him much attention other than the pleasant smiles as we had walked by. Even the other customers eating on the terrace as well were either focused on their food or their conversations.
“Why are we doing any of this?” you asked, “it’s clear these people are fine with you being their king.”
“Old laws. The council have always had the power to decide who's king. Apparently they know better than their people,” he said.
You couldn’t help but be surprised that he’d show his feelings about his court so obviously, “you might want to keep the disdain out of your voice the next time you see them. They are in charge of your regency.”
“I’ll do my best,” he learned further back in his chair, “especially that the next time I do will be with you.”
You groaned, “tell me that won’t be any time soon.”
“Tonight. Drinks and appetizers before dinner,” he huffed a little laugh, “don’t look too enthusiastic.”
“Because drinks with a bunch of stuffy old men sounds fun,” you retorted.
He tipped forward, letting his chair fall back onto all four legs again, “how do you know they’re old men?”
You sighed, Odin’s council coming to mind, “aren’t they always?”
He chuckled, though you had the impression there was nothing he found funny about the whole situation, “seems they are.”
Volula came back with your food before you could ask him more about the council. She set a steaming bowl of grey mush that had a strangely greenish hue to it in front of Laufeyson and plate filled with scrambled eggs, fruit —- some of which you’d never seen before — a small bread roll and a little bowl filled with a dark purple liquid you couldn’t identify.
“It’s for the bread,” she said with a wink, “enjoy the meal.”
Tentatively, you ripped a small piece off the loaf and dipped it into the liquid. You looked up at Lauefeyson and he nodded encouragingly. You eyed him warily and he rolled his eyes again, digging into his mush. When you finally gained the courage to pop it into your mouth. It was tangy but sweet, an eruption of flavours you couldn’t name, and paired with the airy texture of the bread, it was amazing. It was so good, you dipped your eggs into the sauce just to see what it would be like. You weren’t disappointed. Laufeyson had his head dipped down, eyes focused on his breakfast, but you could see a faint smile on his lips. You wanted to tell him off, but really he hadn’t done anything. And anyways, you were starving.
“You wanted to talk ground rules?” he asked after another few bites.
You nodded and swallowed your bite, “I’m not doing any of this without a few precautions.”
He scraped the last of his putrid look slop from the bowl, “what did you have in mind?”
You hadn’t forgotten his little show last night, and although there wasn’t even the faintest echo of pain, you weren’t interested in going through anything like that ever again.
“You don’t use magic on me,” you warned, “ever.”
He held your gaze, body relaxed when he said, “I wasn’t planning on it.”
If he was lying, his assurance and ease made him damed convincing . Still, it didn’t mean you believed him. You knew he wouldn’t tell you the truth if he was lying so there was no point in dwelling on his answer.
“And no physical affect unless it’s absolutely necessary,” you added, staring him down, “and if possible, I want a heads up before it happens.”
“Romanic,” he chuckled, leaning back into his chair again.
You crossed your arms, “it’s part of my terms.”
“It’s fine,” he said with a little wave of his hand, “anything else?”
“Not for now. But just to be clear, all I have to do is convince them we’re in love, right?” you asked, still trying to wrap your head around the situation. You’d never been in love and you’d never seen the appeal of it, but if you had ever imagined what it would look like, faking it to some foreign king with Nat’s life on the line wasn’t exactly it.
He readjusted the spoon in his bowl, changing it from the right side to the left, “right.”
You shook your head. He was so casual about everything and all you could do was ask as many questions as you could think of to try and kill the sneaking suspicion that this half-baked plan was doomed to fail, “and all this is because your sister wanted the throne.”
“Yes.”
“Who’s the rightful heir?” You pushed on, searching his face for more information than his one-worded answers gave you.
His face remained impassive but he took a second to long to answer, “technically she is, but the position fell to me years ago.”
You weren’t going to ask what he meant by years, not wanting to know whether or not he’d been king during the war. If you were going to pretend to love him, you didn’t need another reason to hate him.
“Why not leave it to her if it’s her birthright?”
“Why not keep it?” he countered, tucking his hands into his pockets, “you said it yourself. Everyone’s fine with me being king.”
“That’s not an answer,” you pointed out, observing him closely.
He shrugged and changed the subject, “if you’re done, we’ll head to the seamstress.”
“Great,” you muttered, thought it didn’t escape your notice that his sister was definitely a touchy subject.
He smirked, “again, your enthusiasm is contagious.”
“Excuse me for not being excited about a deal I was blackmailed into by a man who’s name I don’t even know,” you whisper yelled, leaning forward across the table, barely able to control yourself, “right after going through a set of rules to impress a set of snobby old men because of your conniving sister.”
He looked like he was going to say something then stopped and looked out into the jungle. He nodded slowly, took in a long, deep breath and turned back to face you.
“Loki. Lauefeyson,” he extended his hand — a human gesture, “it’s nice to meet you.”
You nodded and stared at his hand. When the silence droned on, he leaned in closer so that we were both hovering above the table, “I will need to know your name, sweetheart.”
“When you do, you’d better use it because you ‘sweetheart’ isn’t convincing anyone,” you grit out.
His lips pulled into a wicked grin, “I think it is, sweetheart.”
“YN,” you snapped, backing off, “YLN.”
He stood from the table, leaning casually on the back of the chair, “are you ready to go, YLN.”
You sighed, “if I have to.”
