• (YES Maci knew the gist of the kid situation but has never had Deep Conversation moments with Loki before due to the. uh. fighting. it never clicked for her!! • Anyway. he’s not even entirely in denial that these events still deeply affect him, it’s just— that he could never, would never admit how much it does. He has a reputation to uphold! should I read maloki because even though it's not the best adaptation I'm kind of curious. Is it worth reading

hmm it's really dependent on how much weird ship bait fan service (i think that's the term?) and general bad plot bullshit you're willing to put up with lmao. i go on a very long rant abt everything that sucks so umm yeah. everything i say is abt the manga unless stated otherwise

i'd def skip the chapter in the first season of the manga where loki gets cursed w a rune that makes him switch personalities cause it's really weird and bad and just weird. i'm not getting into specifics cause it's weird for me to describe but just like. skip it.

another thing thats weird for u to look out for is freyr's infatuation w mayura (who's a teen girl). in the anime its not as bad cause he's explicitly a teenager (he gets enrolled in her school with the purpose of saving her mystery club) but it's never said so in the manga so it kind of just looks like a grown man doting after this teen. actually on that, most of the gods are shown in some sort of shippy way with her at least once in the manga. narugami (thor) is probably the most normal occurrence since he's explicitly a high schooler in both the anime and manga. there's a scene where heimdall (who's also like a middle schooler like loki is) kisses mayura to make loki jealous or whatever. just to piss him off.

loki also gets ship bait with a lot of the female chars too like w mayura freyja and skuld. it's. yeah you know how it is

less weird things but just kind annoying plot things that happen are loki getting out of heimdalls assignation attempts with weak explanations and also the author doing the thing where you're assumed to dislike heimdall so the sometimes the plot just shits on him for no reason (there's a chapter where loki and heim get magically transported to a magic school and he spawns in already copying lokis homework and everyone yells at him for it. bro did NOTHING !!!)

i will say that after you get past that first season of the manga it's so much better on the weird bullshit tho ! ragnarok is much better abt it and doesn't have any so bad i recall immediately and shinsekai no kamigami doesn't either. that isn't to say the plots for those aren't kinda sucky too but they're better than whatever the first season put out.

the anime gets rid of sooo much of this weird bullshit and i think does some characters better (heim and freyr get more of a proper emotional bond with each other. as sad as it is i really like what they did with hel and i personally like loki and mayura's dynamic more in the anime) but unfortunately it's majority filler so the manga has a better plot so u kinda just have to decide what you're willing to put up with fsfsfs

actually on that freyja is better written in the manga i think than the anime once again we cannot win both versions just suck. she's still kind of portrayed as loki obsessed in the manga but not to the awful degree that the anime does.

there's the occasional homophobic remarks in the manga but that's few and far between and so i choose to just ignore it.

not fault of the author but also some scanlations have really weird translators notes on some of the chapters too.

as for what's good about it. it's really heimdall and lokis conflict. it's interesting i think because of lokis feelings towards heimdall out of guilt and drives a lot in the first and third season of the manga (it's a little bit forgotten in the middle of the anime lol). i think freyr and heimdall are funny characters and i like every chapter with them in it as do i like every scene in the anime with them in it. they sort of have that odd couple dynamic and it's nice to see heimdall warm up to freyr over the course of the show and become better friends. mayura without the ship bait is also a fun character i think ! she's a mystery obsessed highschooler who loves the supernatural and so she sticks around loki who's a detective a child and an exorcist! thor is also a fun char and he's lokis best friend and mayura's classmate who has a shit ton of jobs. yamino is jormungandr and he's there but to me he's not the most interesting char. i can't say much about the plot without spoilers but it's okay and gets interesting in ragnarok. overall the characters are what makes it fun for me and thus i ignore much of canon and think about them in the vacuum chamber of my mind lol.

but yeah that's my review ig of maloki. it's Not Good but i think if you're looking for something fun ragnarok is an okay read cause the characters are silly in that one and it's not so weird and also has the best plot probably. shinsekai no kamigami is also fun and i think that plot is super interesting BUT like i said its half unscanlated. and then if you're gonna start from the very beginning i would just skip any chapter that has the weird bullshit it's probably not plot relevant anyway. the anime is more lighthearted i think and has more character bonding time but it's also a lot a lot a lot of filler. so yeah.

The words are quick, confirming and factual but not cold. He’s never cold to Wildfire, Winter owes the other his freedom, the reason they have the chance to get this information in the first place and he needs to know. His directive requires information, knowledge on that annoying voice in his head that makes his tongue heavy an’ his words slant with a familiarity he doesn’t know otherwise.

Bucky.

It’s a name he knows, he know’s but doesn’t know why and he wants to understand. He wants to find out all he can on this so called war hero, just as they’d found Wildfire’s name. Loki. So much information left, missing worlds, missing people but they had time and with time came opportunity.

This was an opportunity, if that museum had files on this Bucky everyone mistook him for he was going to get them so that the bounding in his head stopped and the whispers of memories left him alone to get a decent rest at night.

Winter wanted to have that part of him the way Loki did, the way it was a thrill to say on his tongue like it fit. Like it was right, a whisper between them of acknowledgement. After all if Wildfire shed their asset training and found who they were and Winter didn’t where did that leave him?

A memory-lacking liability.

Fingers pause over the metal of the knife in hand, looking up from his preparations to see the other leaning against the door. Their door. The safe house temporary but already feeling like something new, something better just because he had the choice to make it that way. The orders to give himself instead.

Freedom was interesting, not having a directive to aim for aside from safety and happiness. No rules or handbook for those, but he was learning, adapting. Like he should be.

But Winter didn’t want to do it alone. For the first time he had a taste of what partnership was. He’d found his mission in that, found his comfort and Loki hadn’t ever failed, hadn’t left him behind or lost him in the dark of it.

They were trust, in their own way.

“Are you coming with me?”

A quiet slide of the knife as he pushes it away because Loki is the only one he doesn’t need weapons with, the only one they fall obediently from hands for. Why would he want them? To harm or to kill - neither of those things are what he ever wants to do with Wildfire.

He gets to choose to be gentle now. It’s the same sort of thrill as choosing not to be. But better, he prefers this. Them.

Hands are warm as he reaches up, follows the line of a soft jaw and flashes a smile that’d have him wiped before. Chases the same head that thawed him the first time in a lingerin’ kiss. There’s hesitance and he wants to know why, Loki didn’t back away, didn’ flinch yet this seemed to stall them for a second.

“Everythin’ okay?”

♔—- She leaned against the door, watching as Winter--as Bucky--made his preparations for the break-in. In truth, it was a good idea. Who Winter had been before Hydra hooked their claws into him wasn’t as unattainable as they first feared, as Bucky had been a rather well-known figure before the time of his “death”. The museum he planned on robbing had an entire World War II section and plenty of archives on exactly what they were looking for.

It wasn’t even the break-in or the plans of a robbery that worried her, but what did? She wasn’t exactly sure.

“‘Course I’m going with you,” she assured him. “I’m not going to let you have all the fun. Besides, you’d be lost without me.” More of a stab at teasing the genuine belief in what she said. Then again, it was sort of a true and fair statement, wasn’t it? Winter loved her, followed her away from safety and the promise of a future, and trusted her with everything he was. Doing things without one another felt strange these days. 

A packaged deal, really.

She lingered on her partner’s gentle touch for a moment, turning her nose towards his palm as he caressed her jaw, and freely returned his sweet little kiss without a second thought. All of those things felt natural by now and some days it still shocked her that Winter was capable of such tenderness. He could be so careful and so thoughtful when it came to her like his entire being had melted just by being with her.

“Yes,” she murmured. “I’m just... I don’t know, really. Fretting for some reason.” Her entire posture relaxed, though she shifted enough so her weight wasn’t on the doorframe, but rather partially on her partner. An arm slipped around him, pulling him a little closer, while her opposite hand lifted to pet his cheek fondly. “This is what we both want, what we both need, and I’ll do whatever I have to in order to get your answers, I suppose I am just worried on what sort of impact the truth is going to have? We haven’t known ourselves for so long. What if we don’t like the people we were? What if we uncover things we aren’t prepared to ingest?”

Even as the worry rolled off of her tongue, it sounded foolish, to fear the truth, to fear what they both wanted for so long and, truly, what they needed. They might have known one another as Winter and Wildfire, but they were not their codenames. They were Bucky and Loki... Whoever those individuals happened to be.

“Whatever happens and whatever we uncover, I just don’t want it to... change what we have,” she finally confessed, realizing for the first time how afraid she actually was of how the truth may impact their relationship. Uncovering who they were could easily change everything and while some things needed to change, there were other aspects of the life they lived that Wildfire wanted to keep intact.

That Loki wanted to keep intact.

“We’re not going to let this impact us, right? Whoever Bucky is, I still want to wake up to him every morning, put my trust in him, hold him on cold nights, and turn to him when I have nowhere else to look.”

She smiled then, quickly brushing away that momentary look of distraught that pulled at her usually so beautifully determined features. “I’m sorry. That sounded horribly childish. Considering I’m the one that pushed for so much change, I shouldn’t be afraid of it. I just--love you. A lot. And regardless of what happens, I don’t want to lose you.”

Sure, it took you some time to get used to his family. Many of them weren't that nice either, but it worked out well.

Thor was happy with you, he found someone that he could trust and talk to without feeling the need to worry that you would use his words against him.

You both were in love and also had quite a stable relationship, what more could you two ask for?

And then it all changed.

Both of you were sent on a mission to Midgard to retrieve something for the Allfather.

There were a lot of enemies - it was expected. After all, something that the Allfather needed couldn't have possibly been left unguarded.

It was incredible how fast both of you got overwhelmed by them, you especially.

In the mist of enemies, you managed to lose Thor and had to fight them all on your own while Thor fought others.

You did quite well on your own, for a little bit, but after a while you were forced to use a powerful spell to kill of all your enemies. It was too powerful, and knocked you unconscious after using it.

When you awoke, you were back in Asgard, no memory of what happened.

Thor was right by your side when you opened your eyes, he fussed over you, but it just confused your mind further. Why was Thor there? What happened to you? Why couldn't you remember anything?

The lost look in your eyes only worried Thor more, he tried explaining everything that happened but you couldn't remember anything - not even the fact you two were a couple.

Your confusion only frustrated him, he loved you so much but you... Didn't love him back. Not anymore.

It didn't take long for Thor to fall back into his old drinking habit after you lost your memory. You had helped pry him away from drinking, but now that you had no recollection of ever being with Thor, you didn't stop him.

Still, he tried to help you. He would tell you about those you fought, the things you made or the spells you casted. Anything to help you remember. But each thing he told you only left you more confused.

You apologize to him, saying you don't remember those things or the apparent fact that you were ever with him. Your memory had snippets of your time in Asgard, there were also a few memories you had where you and Thor would talk, but nothing of you ever being his partner crossed your mind.

He becomes more stressed, more impatient, angrier, but he's angry at himself for not saving you sooner, for not telling you to stay behind and that he'd handle the mission himself.

And now look what it cost him, the only person he found solace in.

Odin:

Originally, Odin only married you because of the immense power you held.

Just like he did with his other wives, he planned on using you for all you had to give.

But then you did something to him. You made him fall for you.

He's so certain at first that you casted a spell over him, making him see you as someone he truly loved. That's how he copes with his emotions at first.

Then he finally accepts that he might be in love... And he honestly doesn't mind it after the initial acception. The two of you had a peaceful and happy time together.

But then, the mask and Loki came into play.

The kid was nice, caring too. And despite you being Odin's wife, he trusted you... To a point. When he left Asgard to clear his mind and soon returned to finish finding the mask piece, he still trusted you.

Odin then decided to send you with him to find the last piece, so you'd be able to keep an eye on him.

It went well for most part, your powers combined with Loki's archer skills helped defeat the monsters you crossed with ease.

It wasn't until the last piece had been found that everything went downhill. Odin joined you two in the realm to take the mask, but Kratos and Freya had ambushed you three. Loki had betrayed Asgard and escaped with his father, but before the three could leave, Freya managed to cast a spell on you. Leaving you unconscious.

Odin took you back to Asgard where you woke up with not a single memory of anything.

You didn't know who you were, where you were, what powers you had - the spell turned you into a lost soul.

The first time you saw Odin after the spell had been casted, you screamed. Confused and afraid of where you were.

Your dear husband tried his best to remove the spell, but it didn't work. Not even the best witches could rid you of the spell. Freya's spells always has a catch to them - but he didn't know what this one was.

Even if he did remove the spell, he wasn't entirely sure if that would grant you back your knowledge or memories.

You couldn't even use your powers, for you didn't know what they were anymore. You were a Goddess of great power who has been reduced to a mere mortal, or something like one.

And as much as Odin hated to say it, you had become a burden to him. And he the starts to remember why he chose to marry you in the first place, for your powers, but now you couldn't even use them.

You had no use anymore, but yet a part of Odin - a part of him that still loved you - couldn't just let you go. But now he had to make the choice...

y/n has to get her wisdom teeth removed and it’s the singular most dreadful thing she’s ever had to do, which says a lot because her dad is tony richling stark

doing dreadful things she doesn’t want to do but still somehow end up doing just because she can is a personality trait at this point

no one really makes a big deal out of it since ~death~ is part of their job description, but y/n is terrified

and when a stark is terrified the only thing that will keep them one step from insanity is researching the hell out of it

that information will be info dumped into every conversation for the next few weeks leading up to the appointment

the day of the appointment, peter comes along and literally doesn’t let go of y/n’s hand. he keeps touching her to let her know that he’s there and it’s so. adorable

he would rest his hand on her knee, gently stroke her back while holding her, or just play with her hair

happy drops them off and he’s too Cool™ for emotions but he knows y/n’s a wreck, so he just fist bumps her with a single nod and she almost breaks down bc it’s really affectionate

y/n is sitting in the dentist chair and genuinely nothing is happening yet, but she’s squeezing peter’s hand like it’s a sponge

People argue about what even is canon in the first place anyway. Even the starting point can't be agreed upon.

Including the 2nd ask bc I'm assuming they're from the same nonny? (pfft like more than one person would send me asks in one day lmao)

Anyway ... I mean, I'm mostly ambivalent on the first point re: people disagreeing over canon, bc ... like, idek where to start on all the shit that I could say about fans' relationship to and interaction with canon or even what canon technically is, like, by definition (and therefore what even qualifies as canon).

But I did want to address the second point bc I think it's a good opportunity to just sort of toss this hot take into the void: "Stating that fiction is subjective will ruffle some people's feathers at the minute" - so what? So. What. Fiction is subjective, all art is subjective, and that's something that is true, has been true, and will be true regardless of some fans' decision to just decide that things don't work that way.

They can get their feathers ruffled as much as they like, but people need to learn that their personal emotions and feelings about A Thing don't mean that they can just decide that That Thing is suddenly something else (or decide something else is suddenly That Thing). It's just like how words like gaslighting and narcissistic and abusive and torture and trigger have become so diluted bc people a) don't actually understand what gaslighting, for example, is, and therefore cannot possibly call it out with any real degree of accuracy, so they just end up throwing a really weighted term at something as basic, human, and everyday as telling a lie. Or an emotional argument becomes abuse, or being squicked by something makes it a trigger.

OR, on the opposite side of the coin, b) maybe they actually do know what gaslighting or abuse is, but then they will categorize anything that remotely falls within the realm of the same definition as being gaslighting or abuse. I, personally, for example, really hate the way that some people claim Mobius tortures and enslaves Loki. It drives me up the wall when I see those takes because - okay, are these terms technically correct? Yeah, technically, which is what they use to justify it - "Well, this source defines "torture" as xyz, and Mobius is clearly doing z, so Mobius is a torturer." But words mean shit, so are you really asking me to accept that Mobius tortured Loki just as Thanos tortured Loki? Yes? Okay, how? No? Okay, why not?

Here's the thing - Mobius never laid a hand on Loki, nor did he sadistically, literally play with Loki's mind. Remember, Loki was being influenced by the mind stone in Avengers and the Other had a constant connection to Loki's consciousness. Thanos (and the Other) tortured Loki. Mobius ... was mean to him during an interrogation and also lied about Loki being responsible for Frigga's death (and I've said it before, Mobius was being an unreliable narrator in this scene and anyone who believes - because of Mobius - that Loki actually killed Frigga is both factually wrong and also an idiot). By calling the former torture, consistently, bc his behavior meets some arbitrary technical definition, you're actively diluting the word bc you feel like its weight lends credibility to your argument that Mobius sucks.

🐍Everybody was shocked when they found out Natasha had a sibling, and saw how she shows more of her emotions around you, mostly on how protective she can be.

🐍She is like your protector and she was weary about you being introduced to the Avengers, since her job is dangerous.

🐍Nat actually did warn to Tony not to over do it when she caught him flirting with you.

🐍Loki was intrigued when he first met you, and how kind you were, and thought it was endearing how you were a little witty like your older sister.

🐍But knowing her relationship with Loki...

🐍He was basically stuck dealing with your protective big sister for about a week...

🐍Loki does try to negotiate with her whenever she suspects him of anything, and to her surprise, he practically begs to be with you.

🐍Loki always tries to ignore when Nat is glaring at him from across the room, especially if he's with you.

🐍She did manage to trick him again and when you found him, he was in handcuffs and stuck to a chair (lol poor Loki)

🐍Sometimes, Nat does question Loki on what he was doing with you, and other times she does spy on him (lmao protective big sis)

🐍And how he tries his best not to scare you, by having a much more calmer approach, and how he softens his voice for you, along with the way how sweetly he speaks to you, which is something he never does anyone else.

🐍The rest of the Avengers did notice Loki being happier and relaxed than usual, especially when he's around you.

🐍Since Nat is really subtle, you may not know what does been doing with Loki most of the time.

🐍But when you do find out, you do scold her for being so hard on Loki, only for her to admit she wants to look out for you and it's her job to make sure you're okay.

🐍You also defended Loki, saying that he's changed.

🐍But she does want you to be happy, and wants to make her younger brother is in good hands, no matter who it is.

🐍She does promise him he will regret it if he ever hurts you (yes, he was intimidated asf).

🐍The rest of the Avengers (except Thor) were still a little weary of Loki being with you, but they know Loki has been a much better mood and making better decisions because of you.

🐍Most of them decided to let you two be, but Tony and Clint weren't having any of it.

🐍Nat did cut Tony off when he tried to get into agurements with Loki about your safety and how he didn't fully trust Loki. But Tony did know it was going to be difficult accepting it.

🐍She did constantly tell Clint to back off and that Loki wasn't going to hurt you, and to his dismay, he did not really trust Loki, let alone him being around you. (He had to suck it up though)

Weirded out by what he's seeing, and not entirely sure it's real, Loki can't take his eyes off it, either. The way alligator Loki drinks his boxed wine is just so fascinating to him, yet weird and other-wordly (he knows those well) at the same time. And he's weirded out more by the fact that he doesn't find a variant of him being an alligator strange in any way. He's had a few trying days, as he said himself.

Loki manages to divert his eyes off the creature with horns on its head and looks to the grapes he holds in his hand. He picks small dirt away from the berries and takes a grape into his mouth with ease. The taste reminds him of many things. His childhood, his home, his family... Thor, Frigga, Odin, Sif and the Warriors Three. Asgard. The Gardens, the waters, the Bifrost. Heimdall. Visits to the city, the markets, the celebrations.

Love.

Loki blinks, fooling himself and others by aiming to portray that he's not thinking about anything important. But he is. She was the most important thing to him, and now... Well, maybe during the New York heist, she's still fine, but after Ragnarok... Loki fears too much to think about it.

He wishes he could remember everything with her that followed New York, but all he has of their future is some worn-out tape in the TVA archives. Perhaps even pictures... He wants to live through all they had now, he wishes he could do that most of all. Of course, there's the finding Mobius and helping Sylvie burn down the TVA thing, but upon remembering her, it all falls into the background.

His first love. Not a god, like him, but she was a goddess in his eyes. He smiles now, subtly, at the fond memories of her. He noticed the little moments he had with her in the tape Mobius had, about his whole future. How beautiful she always was, her subtle way of laughing and going about her smiles and giggles, how exceptional and different her clothes always were, how her hair shined in any light...

“Did any of you...” Loki starts to say, and sighs shortly before continuing, thinking he'll probably regret asking it, “did any of you leave a... a lover behind when the TVA arrested you? Prince or princess?” He looks between his variants. Young Loki shoots him a stern look. “Apologies, my liege. You seem too young for that.” Loki bids him a polite smile, but his brain whirs. “How long have you been here, anyway?”

“Don't know. Time doesn't really... exist here.” Young Loki says and throws a salt biscuit into alligator Loki's jaws. “But no lovers in my lifetime, Loki.” He pointedly looks at the older variant of himself, nodding slightly.

“Not yet, at least.” Loki points out and gets scoffs and chuckles from Boastful and Classic Loki. He looks at them with a furrowed brow.

“Oh, you and your grand plan,” Classic Loki shakes his head before taking another sip from his huge cup. Loki only rolls his eyes, but still waits for answers to his question, “well,” Classic Loki downs his drink, “it would be no surprise to you that I had countless partners before I chose isolation. Partners of any kind.” He winks. Loki nods, understanding how much alike he truly is with his variants. “But I feel there is no one truly... truly made for me. Like midgardians would say - 'the one'.“

“In my case, there were many 'the ones',” Boastful Loki says, mocking Classic's use of words. All other Lokis roll their eyes, “I actually feel like every person in the whole universe was made to be with me. I'm just that irresistible.” He smiles pleasantly to himself. Alligator Loki growls again.

“That's another “liar” from him to you, Boast,” Classic Loki nods his head towards Boastful, who only shakes his head and frowns.

“I had my fair share of men and women before I was taken,” Boastful says, “must have been the same for you, Loki.” He looks at him. “Asgard was truly a giving place.”

Loki chuckles, but looks away from his variants. “Oh, it was...” he says quietly, “it was.” His voice grows even more quiet. Young and Classic Loki exchange a look.

“Do tell us, your mischievousness.” Classic Loki urges him. Loki shoots him a nervous look, then he leans back into the sofa and sighs, his eyes strictly focused on his hands.

“I had plenty before I met... one,” he starts to say, “me and her share a past, and, it seems, a future as well. After New York, I am taken to Asgard, imprisoned, but she is there. I fake my death and rule over Asgard as Odin, and she's there. I help Thor destroy our evil sister--”

“Oh, she was a nasty one.” Boastful says, shaking his head. “We used to have a connection, but then she just... I don't even know.” He shrugs. Loki eyes him for a second before continuing.

“We destroyed Asgard, but saved its people, and saved her. We make for Midgard, and she's there with me.” Loki sighs, his eyes gloomy. “And then... Thanos attacks, destroys half, if not all our people, and...” he can't even speak further. His variants share a look, each having quite the correct guess for what could follow after that. Boastful drinks from his cup in an awkward manner. “But I feel like that's another life I lived. Or another me. I don't know, I feel so... disconnected from her, from what we had. Must be the TVA and this... void. And all that's happened, all I've learned about my future.” He sighs again.

“Meeting her again would be a wake-up call, no?” Boastful asks. Loki shrugs, a sad expression on his face.

“Rather a sign that you're real.” Classic Loki says with a wide, true smile. Loki looks to him as if looking at a mentor. “I often felt like the people I loved and the love I had for them, even if it was not reciprocated, were a reminder that I am real, I exist and I can feel all these things.”

Loki considers his words, and then nods along, finding a truth in them.

“After all, love and all other emotions are the human part in all of us.” Classic says. “And it isn't always bad to feel like a regular human being.” Loki can also find truth in those words. Love makes one feel alive, makes you feel like you're on the right path, found the right person, found your purpose. It doesn't always have to be glorious, it can be small, but nonetheless important to you.

“I used to think humans smaller than us, more pathetic and puny, but...” Loki shakes his head, “we, gods, are just the same, really.” He chuckles sadly. “Having quarrels over the stupidest things, being as imperfect as humans... Sometimes I even felt like I was too good, too perfect for something like true love, which is a pathetic emotion that makes you feel all kinds of other feelings, but...” he smiles, “often times I felt like that, she told me everyone was deserving of love, even me.” His smile grows wider.

“She sounds lovely.” Classic Loki tells him with a kind smile.

“She was that, and more.” Loki nods along. Young Loki imitates the sound of a snore and throws a crumpled piece of paper at Loki's shoulder.

“You're making me extremely bored.” He announces and sits straighter in his chair, looking over the mess that is his palace. “Love's boring.” Young Loki throws a juice carton across the room, making a face.

“You are just too young to understand and know it, your majesty.” Boastful says with a wink, and the next juice carton is flying over his head with a snicker from Young Loki. Classic Loki keeps Boastful tight in his seat so an argument wouldn't arise, and Boastful hesitantly restrains, his drink almost spilling over his cup. Loki watches them with a sappy smile on his features, and decides this is a good place to spend eternity at, even without her.

my first ever harry potter dr - forgot to script out fred's death (reading him die in the books caused me severe trauma to the point that i scribbled it out in the book and skip over it in the movie and it slipped my mind) and he died right in front of me after i remembered. if i had remembered two seconds earlier i could have saved him.

The Witcher - Geralt hurt me and in an attempt to hurt him back i ruined his friendship w jaskier, and vesemir and the others including ciri disowned him and i dont have it in myself to return (i was doing horrible mentally and i lashed out in a moment of hurt)

birth father dr - i should have listened to my mom when she told me what kind of person he was.

the orville actor dr - got too close to adrianne and scott (they were married and i played their daughter, my mom and i werent in a good place at the time so we were like a family) and then the divorce came out of nowhere and i was in the middle with both of them fighting using me as a communication vessel. couldnt escape it, i lived w adrianne at the time and worked with both of them. it was effecting me mentally and i stopped.

I think you would be the quiet loner or the funny sarcastic rebel probably a combination of the two. Either way you would be the cool snarky badass character that stands apart from the rest and always has the best one liners. Spends most of their time alone and other people might find them intimidating but once you get to know them they are actually incredibly kind and an extremely loyal friend. The character that the main character befriends and teaches them that other people are idiots and you shouldn’t care what they think. Or maybe the character that was once a villain but has been adopted by a group of heroesos they still have their villain side and enjoy getting into trouble every now and then but now they have a group of friends they care about and are protective over, they might not admit they are a big softy cause on the outside they are calm and cool but lord help anyone who tries to hurt their friends.

You are in the safe house at Riga, researching possible sites for the next attack by the Flag-Smashers and Zemo decides to join you on the couch and help with his knowledge of the area and what may be good targets.

You end up falling asleep against him.

He's caught by surprise that you would leave yourself so unguarded around him, and he's unsure of himself as it's been the first time someone has willingly and essentially cuddled up against him. So outwardly he may be tense, but internally, he's an emotional mess and is having an existential crisis on what to do.

He has never allowed himself to entertain the idea of ever letting someone get close to him since the passing of his family.

So. Does he silently remove you from your position and let you sleep on the couch alone, covering you with his coat?

Or does he give in and eventually fall asleep with you. Only to have Bucky and Sam discover the two of you fast asleep later on.

Because.....of course that would happen. Drama!

This could be an interesting internal character study for Zemo as I believe it would cause him to relive the trauma of losing his family all over again. As we know he spent two days trying to find them after the events at Novi Grad. Maybe he's not even in a relationship with the reader yet, but realizes how much time he's wasted not expressing how he feels, so he scrambles to locate you and hope you aren't dead.

(This is pure crack!fic. LMAO. Only because I would love him to throw a fit that only you are allowed to wear his clothes *cough* coat *cough* and he doesn't like the fact that the Cloak of Levitation keeps wrapping itself around you like your it's property.)

Laszlo asks you to go to the opera with him. At first you are quite touched Dr. Kreizler has asked you to be his companion for the evening, only to realize by intermission he is using you to attract attention from a wealthy aristocrat who may have ties to the killer.

Hurt by his underlying manipulation, you have an argument with him afterwards, raising doubts that you don't know whether there was a part of Dr. Kreizler that actually wanted you there with him genuinely or not because he never shared his plan with you. Too upset to let him explain, you storm off.

You roam the streets aimlessly and wind up in a part of town you aren't familiar with, not realizing you strayed so far from the opera house.

When you turn back you notice an abandoned building with the name Baxter written across it, which sparks recognition of possible locations the killer may be using to murder his victims before dumping them in various odd places around the city.

You thought about calling Dr. Kreizler to inform him of your findings, but you're too emotional and angry with him, so you decide to go snooping around the building on your own.

What happens to the reader? And does the reader make it back to Laszlo in one piece?

Niki Lauda x Reader

You are a long time friend of Niki's. You don't work for his team, but you show your support whenever he's close enough for you watch him race.

You strike up a friendship with James Hunt, much to Lauda's dismay. He doesn't show any jealousy, but obviously tries to steer you clear of Hunt knowing his reputation off the track. He sees him as reckless and dangerous.

Niki is unaware you have been in love with him for quite some time, but he never seemed to show any interest, so you kept your unrequited love to yourself.

It wasn't until you had to drag Lauda and Hunt back to the hotel they were staying at that started to shift how Niki really saw you.

You were being incredibly cautious with your new car and driving at the normal speed limit the road called for. Hunt was in the backseat arguing about how his grandmother could drive faster than you, and that they would never get back to the hotel in time to make a party he intended going to.

He may or may not have also invited you.

Lauda starts bickering with Hunt as he has no problems with driving at a reasonable speed back to the hotel.

You decide to shut them both up by showing off your own set of driving skills, which promptly caused all chatter in the car to cease.

You basically leave the boys speechless and get out of your car without so much as a passing glance to either one of them.

Hunt ends up being grateful and attempts to persuade you to attend the party with him, but you decline.

Niki, however has different plans in mind as you have left him impressed and slightly turned on at how well you maneuvered your car through the outskirts of the city, causing him to re-evaluate his feelings for you over time.

Where do we go from here?

(I kind of like this prompt. I'd like to think Niki would be obtuse to some degree and need some sort of action to jolt him out of his stupor having known you for so long. There are a lot of different directions this idea could go in.)

I know you're not happy with the show but making things up is really damaging your reputation. The show is not a failure; it's the biggest launch of any disney+ show so far with the highest ratings. The first trailer has so many views because it's 7 months old, compared to the first episode being out a week and a half. The CGI doesn't look like it was done by a two year old (seriously lmao??). The tesseract looks dull because it powers down once in the TVA. Stop pretending Loki was mind controlled when Marvel confirmed in his character bio that he was emotionally influenced by the scepter. Bucky was mind controlled. Selvig and Hawkeye were mind controlled. Loki was influenced like Banner and the others were by the sceptre when they were around it on the helicarrier. Please consider that care has been taken to make Loki more multifaceted in this show, not OOC - he's just got more emotion and character to him now and feels to me and a lot of others, more like a living, breathing person who is struggling in the immediate aftermath of being shown the most traumatic recap of his life. I'm really sorry you're not happy with him, but his emotional core and inner heartbreak is being treated with love and respect by the show.

Ok I literally just talked about that HERE. But let me add a few more points here for your convenience. First of all, Disney+ hasn’t actually been doing that great. In fact Disney’s stock recently fell precisely because Diseny+ has underperformed. It missed growth expectations and none of the shows have attracted that big of an audience. Loki had MASSIVELY more interest than either WandaVision or TFATWS and yet it only drew 890K households for the premier - just barely more than either of those shows got. There haven’t been any numbers released for the episodes after the premier but given how boring and unfunny and uninteresting the premier was, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of viewers, especially more casual ones, didn’t come back for more.

Incorrect. Trailers get most of their views in the first week, and the vast majority in the first 2 weeks. Indeed, they get the most engagement in the first DAY usually and then it starts slowing. The early trailer that got 18 million views got most of that very quickly and then has grown extremely slowly ever since. The more recent trailers are not tracking to get anywhere near than engagement. Why? Because interest is dropping. Now maybe people just aren’t as interested in the trailers because they’re just happy to watch the actual show now or because they loved the first trailers so much that they decided to watch the show just based on that and didn't want to spoil themselves watching later trailers. Who knows. I certainly have my theories though.

I don’t see any evidence at all of care being put into the show. The writing and storytelling is incredibly sloppy. It gets even the most basic things wrong - like Loki’s speaking style or the fact that he wasn’t young in the 70s or that he speaks the Allspeak not English or his skin tone or hair length or the fact that Jotun!Loki should’ve had ridges on his skin. The head writer and story creator also is openly disdainful of Loki and talks about how he’s a “shithead” and “proper and pompous” and how he needs to be put in a situation where he has to stop “blaming” Odin and Thor for all his problems. He shows no understanding of Loki’s character or care for it. Maybe care was put into the show and they just messed up but I don’t see evidence of that. There’s certainly no way you could know that for a fact unless you are involved in the production in which case you are a biased source who has an ulterior motive for silencing critics of the show.

Also TV!Loki doesn’t feel like a real person to me at all. He feels like a caricature. He doesn’t act like Loki or do or say the things he would or even stand like he would. Look how Loki behaved when being interrogated by Natasha or when being berated by Odin. Loki is someone who puts on a performance as a sword and a shield. TV!Loki is a stupid clown.

No it’s not. It’s being turned into a punchline. The “humor” in the show derives entirely from invalidating Loki’s feelings and retconning his motivations and humiliating and mocking and denigrating him and turning him into a literal punching bag. The show robs the character of all dignity and seriousness and makes a mockery of him and the fans he meant so much to. And for what? The humor isn’t even funny.

I've only followed HMBOMT and now MoLM and some of your one-shots, but I agree with Consistency and Imagination, plus you do a good job of making your characters more than one dimensional and fleshing them out by giving them pasts that inform their reactions, emotions, motivations. And thinking of HMBOMT, that helps them organically develop and play of each other and overcome their conflicts with each other, because they have substance, and it's more satisfying to read.

I try and make my characters as humanly as they could get, and mostly I'm interpreting them based on my life, what I have seen and my own experiences. So I'm glad people are actually able to connect with them because that means it's not in my head and I'm actually making them the way they are in my head.

Even my reader or y/n have a personality because I'm sorry but I can not write multi chapter fics about a wooden box, whenever I read reader based stories I put myself in the shoes of reader instead of just being like "oh this is written especially to cater to me". That's the whole point of imagination and fantasy.

HMBOMT was started as dom loki x sub reader type fic (lmao) and some of my mutuals who I know would absolutely love HMBOMT because they enjoyed Lisik but they don't read if because they think it's about sex and bdsm. News flash - No. Thank you for giving wrestler loki a chance even though he didn't appeal to you at first, he's magic and it's one of my best loki I have ever created. Such depth , such pain and I'm someone who's very critical about my writing but I'm so proud of HMBOMT.

I remember HMBOMT's readers hated his guts in the beginning, but then he lost a fight, and we saw a flashback from his childhood, and he became sympthetic in that very moment, his callous nature made sense all of a sudden. The way everyone turned to his side after that was so satisfying to see (gah I really do miss writing wrestler loki)

Just Pirated Loki’s First Episode: The Reactions of a Comics Nerd and No-Fun MCU Hater

-Fair warning, I am a Loki fan, but not in the way, um. Pretty much everyone else on this website is

-Bless Tom Hiddleston for being such a fucking delight as Loki but the MCU straight- and cis-washes its Loki so much that I really am exhausted.

-That being said, the shout-out to the Kid Loki comics, also known as the best Loki comics, with the “your role is this” stuff was. . .well. Watch that space.

-Interesting characterization in the MCU! Can’t wait for them to fuck it all up when it threatens to get too interesting!

-God I checked the tags for the show/characters and I remembered why I stay out of the MCU fandom.

-”They killed people!”/”They enslaved a whole town!”/”They tried to take over the world!”/”He told my favorite to shut up!” This is comics, Susan, everyone’s a terrible person on some level. Pick your emotional support war criminal and go. Also, get a sense of humor.

-Lotta people bitching about the time travel logic and TVA logic need to read more comics. Fair warning: this shit’s par for the course. Like, a lot. Marvel’s getting very comics-y with its treatment of the TVA, MCU!Carol Danvers, and the Eternals (re: The whole “They were secretly there the whole time!” thing).

-I’ve seen a lot of yelling over Loki’s characterization/the morality of the TVA and Mobius and IMO it was. . .fine?

-Like, yes, the script wasn’t amazing, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. Honestly, it’s better than I was expecting, and the actors did their best.

-Loki seemed fairly in-line from what I remember from 2012.

-The MCU retcons itself about everything every three years, but it looks like they’re going with the theory of Loki having major autonomy during the events of The Avengers. Probably.

-My unpopular opinion on this is that while Thanos certainly did a number on Loki to push him over the edge, supplied him with the army, and gave him this particular plan--none of which is exactly small beans--some version of this was always coming from MCU!Loki, barring major intervention.

-After the first Thor, he was always going to make a play for Earth the second Thor and Odin decided humans were all right. Thanos just happened to set the timetable.

-I mean, he’s been villain material for most of his MCU run, and it’s frankly hilarious how Marvel keeps being forced to bring him back because they can’t do villains for shit and how you can tell when they have to with each shift of his arc trajectory.

-Like everyone else in this godforsaken cinematic universe, his lines suffer from being post-Joss Whedon’s directorial and writing contributions as well as Marvel Main Character-itis, which is not unique to this series.

-Mobius is surprisingly interesting compared with his comics-self.

-He’s clearly working towards something with Loki maybe beyond the whole stopping someone who’s clearly not just your common garden Tom Hiddleston!Loki thing

-What with the interesting mix of de-radicalization techniques and interrogation techniques that probably aren’t completely copacetic under the Geneva Convention, anyway.

-He’s not a Loki fanboy in the comics, but after having to sit through MCU!Wanda, I’m just bracing myself here for the changes. It’s not like Mobius is much of a character in the comics, anyway.

-Like, his morality is of the TVA, but his priorities in keeping Loki alive and un-reset go a bit beyond what his comics self would, probably.

-Anyway, Owen Wilson remains as charismatic as ever and is doing a great job as him, so I like him right now, but jury’s definitely still out on his trajectory.

-So, the TVA.

-Despite the whole fan theory mess with WandaVision, I’m not unconvinced the Time Keepers aren’t secretly the Time-Twisters or something. The organization is more or less like this in the comics, but the emphasis on “Sacred Timeline” is. . .hmph.

-They monitor the multiverse in the comics. They’re not trying to avert its creation, and the Time-Twisters destroy realities as their schtick.

-Also, the multi-verse is coming, so I’m assuming that there’s going to be a twist that acts as an impetus for Loki plus Mobius and friends to blow the organization wide open and cause the multiverse (Probably re-forming the organization and giving Mobius the same surprise promotion as the comics, along with an excuse to bring Gugu Mbatha-Raw back).

-*chanting intensifies* mutants mutants mutants

-They’re gonna fuck up Magneto so bad lmao

Ending Conclusions

-. . .The Big Bad of this phase is absolutely either Mephisto or Kang, right?

-I don’t see how they do Secret Invasion at this point as a feasible Big Bad without a lot of changes, Deviants were Thanos, basically, Doctor Doom can’t happen without the Fantastic Four, and anything directly tied to the mutants is out until they’re brought in.

-Think a decent dark horse candidate for the Phase 4 is also Scarlet Witch/Chthon since she’s confirmed to be reading the Darkhold--which is pretty much No. 1 on the list of Stupid Shit To Never Ever Do In Marvel Comics--upholding the fine comics tradition of Wanda being manipulated by someone evil into doing world-breaking shit.

-I can’t wait for them to straightwash Wiccan and for me to die inside, unrelated news

-It’s episode 1, so there’s a lotta ballgame left, but this is now the second show to bait the MCU Devil, which I honestly want to see if only so I can watch the world burn over it.

-Then again, they might simplify things and just make the being behind the Darkhold Mephisto instead of Chthon, which would. . .track with some things mentioned by the WandaVision showrunners about removing important scenes because stop listening to fans theorize online, dammit. It’s the Hamlet written by monkeys hypothesis played out.

-Ahem.

-Anyway. The music was nice, the actors did a great job, production value looked good, and while this episode was 95% info-dump, they made it pretty digestible.

-Also, the ‘70s-style matte painting used for one scene instead of CGI was a nice surprise and the animation was delightful.

Recommendations:

-If you’re a Loki fan convinced the MCU hasn’t done right by him since Dark World and think Taika Waititi destroyed his character, this show is probably not going to make you especially happy.

Yes, I did just watch episode 2 at 5:30 in the morning.

No, I am not sorry. Not at the moment, although when I inevitably crash later this afternoon, I will be.

Just some very, very quick - and scattered and messy - thoughts: That is a straight up lie; they’re definitely scattered and messy but not very quick at all.

Under the cut for spoilers and length.

I’m going to start with Loki’s characterization. My honest opinion is that Loki’s overall characterization feels like a fic characterization. He definitely is not Avengers Loki, like, at all. I don't know if Tom just, like, forgot how to play that Loki or ...?? That, or Loki was so much more mind-controlled than we realized and getting hulk-smashed just completely reset him back to zero but also fucked him up a little bit and affected his personality, kind of like how some people completely develop weird new personality quirks after a traumatic brain injury.

… yeah, I think that’s where I’m gonna land for now. TV series!Loki feels like a more-or-less canon version of Loki, but if that Loki got hit in the head really hard and now he’s just a little bit fucked up but overall no worse for the wear. Which - it may be that it’s so early in the morning, but that’s actually really fucking funny to me, lmao. God, I kill me. It’s not funny.

No, but, that’s pretty much how I feel. He’s ooc but he’s also ic, and the reason I’m not particularly bothered by the inconsistency, for lack of a better word, is because that’s what pretty much every fic Loki already feels like to me? (Including my own, so I’m not, like, saying that in a derogatory way.) Which is why I say Loki feels like a fic!Loki and to try to explain it better - there is always, for me, a little suspension of disbelief that I employ when I read fic. The reason for that is because the context, the plot, and the dynamics of the fic are usually pretty different than what we ever get in canon, so it becomes a matter of taking film!Loki and, like, bending him a bit in order to fit him into the perimeters of the fic.

The result ends up being that I don’t see the exact Avengers!Loki or TDW!Loki, and thus by definition the portrayal is ooc, but the version that I do see feels like a genuine extension of the canon version, possessing enough of Loki’s overall traits and characteristics that he feels authentic, albeit a bit pretzeled for the new context.

I honestly think that’s something that’s unavoidable, just due to the fact that in fic - and now, in this series - there are a lot more variables at play than there are in the films, wherein Loki is not just a supporting character but also the villain/antagonist and is therefore very limited in what he does/what the narrative allows him to do. When those limitations are taken away, what are we going to see? Probably a lot of different things, and yeah, a lot of them are going to feel a little ooc. And, like in fic, even if the characterization mostly lands, there are definitely bits and pieces (some fics more than others lean this way) where the author didn’t stick the landing or got carried away or otherwise probably forgot for a while that they were writing Loki, not their own OC.

That’s the point where it strays into cringe territory for me (and where the ‘heh, he’s Loki but with a brain injury’ aspect comes in), but while I had to consciously decide to just ignore those moments, overall the tone in this episode felt a bit more balanced between the new, the old, and the cringe, and less whiplash-y from the beginning of the episode to the end.

… I have no idea if that makes sense, but what I’m basically saying is that while I am enjoying this version of Loki, I do recognize all of the ways he’s ooc but, unlike how I feel about Ragnarok!Loki, the ooc-ness feels genuine and unavoidable rather than just a fundamental and careless misunderstanding of the character altogether. In other words, I feel like any ooc-ness here is happening despite the writers taking care to do their best, and isn’t just a result of Loki being lazily written by a person or persons who just doesn’t want to bother with him at all.

Again, I don’t know if that makes sense, but fuck it, there we are and I’m moving on.

I liked all of the little details, including again, things that felt straight out of fic, like Loki asking Mobius why he has the jetski magazine. (Also, if any of my thorki friends read this, was I the only one who noticed that when we see Loki reading the magazine, it just happens to be open to a page with a picture featuring a jet skier who looks like Thor? l.m.a.o.)

Loki interrupting things to explain the difference between illusions vs the other power (I can’t remember which one, off hand, and if I stop writing to go look it up I will lose my train of thought and not finish this) was great, but his overall input and contributions to the missions inspired very mixed feelings for me. On the one hand, I loved that the narrative, via Loki, is reminding us of all these things that he’s capable of that the films generally left out or brushed aside or ignored - but, every time he spoke, he was met with eye rolls and sighs and just a general feeling of “someone please shut this guy up” and I didn’t like the narrative treating him that way.

But also, it’s understandable bc none of the people on his team are actually on his team. None of them want him there (story of Loki’s fucking life), none of them trust him, and none of them are particularly interested in hearing what he has to say. So it’s like, I understand why they reacted the way they did, and I don’t think their reactions are meant to support an overall narrative undermining of Loki’s skills and input - but, the tone is hard to read for me bc I am very defensive and protective of Loki. I can’t quite determine the line between the TVA agents being unreliable narrators (ie, they’re annoyed by Loki bc of who he is to them, but that doesn’t mean the audience is supposed to feel the same) and the TVA agents validating that Loki is just being a nuisance (and, thus, the audience is supposed to feel the same).

That is, I know how I am consuming the narrative (that they’re unreliable narrators), but I’m not sure if that’s how tptb are intending for me to consume the narrative - and I guess it doesn’t really matter, but it’s worth mentioning.

In general, I really liked, again, Loki existing in his own space and watching the way he carried himself. I especially found it interesting that his hands were almost always in his pockets - for one thing it's a stance I tend to imagine him taking often in fic, but also it’s kind of a weird choice bc pockets don’t seem to be a thing in Asgardian clothing. It makes me feel like Loki is the kind of person who never knows what to do with his hands but is always conscious of them, as is common among anxious and self-conscious people, and I just find that relatable on a weird level.

I am really kinda torn on Mobius in this episode; when not interrogating Loki, he’s much less antagonistic toward Loki and therefore I’m more inclined to take-him-or-leave-him but I’ll go ahead and take him I guess. Yet at the same time, bc he’s not interrogating Loki he’s also not trying to put on a show for Loki and when you take that away, he really doesn’t seem to like Loki at all. It supports that Mobius only wants what Loki can do for him and doesn’t actually particularly care about him as a person, which is fine and more or less what I figured, but it contributes to me not really being able to decide how I feel about him in general. Idk, though, I kinda like their dynamic? Like I want them to end up friends?

Regardless, Tom and Owen have amazing chemistry and it’s really funny to me bc (not to be a jerk) I honestly didn’t know Owen Wilson could act. Like, I’ve never seen him in a role where he wasn’t just playing Owen Wilson. So for him to not only be playing Mobius so well but also having such chemistry and a sense of holding-his-own against Tom Hiddleston is like, color me surprised but pleasantly so.

I like B-15 a lot, even though she obviously hates Loki, so idk why I like her but I do. I like Renslayer less, but meh. (Side note - when I was in undergrad in Syracuse, I took the Amtrak from Syracuse to Boston and back more than a few times, for reasons that aren’t relevant, and that route always had a layover at Albany-Rensselaer and every single time I see Renslayer’s name, I want to call her Rensselaer instead.) Shout out to the guest appearance by Casey, sorry Loki stole your juice lmfao.

The moments from the trailer that were very cringe were less so in context (though still kinda cringe, tbh). I think we’ve seen most of the content from the trailers in the first two episodes now, though, which means going forward, it’s going to be like 95% previously unseen material (aside from the brief apocalyptic shots and so forth).

One thing I fucking loved was how Loki, reading about Ragnarok, was visibly affected and even teared up a bit, and you could tell he was in his feels about it, but then later when Mobius expresses sympathy, Loki is just like, “Uh huh, very sad, but anyway.” It was a subtle (well maybe not that subtle) but effective way to remind us that what Loki presents to other people is more often than not a mask and he keeps his true feelings close to the chest. It makes last week’s breakdown have even more of an impact, I think, bc clearly Loki was at the end of his rope to allow himself to show that much raw emotion and vulnerability, but also - for me - there’s a niggling little doubt there that wasn’t there before, in that there was probably more performance in it than I thought.

By which I mean, I think his reaction to the film of his life when he was alone was genuine but, while I previously thought his admission to Mobius later was also genuine, I now think was probably half genuine and half performative. I know others already figured that out, but I’m a little slow and, also, I don’t mind changing my opinion and interpretation from week to week.

Along the same lines, I wasn’t exactly surprised to see that Loki is “undercover” in the TVA, but it was nice to see it acknowledged fairly quickly. Not sure I buy that Loki wants to overthrow and rule the TVA - it’s still a little too “Loki only wants a throne” for me, but again, just because that’s what he told the variant doesn’t mean that’s actually what he’s after.

And, finally, I like the variant, I love Loki’s reaction to seeing her, and while I realize that the show has acknowledged Loki’s gender fluidity and we’re meant to assume that Lady Loki (I guess? Not sure if we’re going with that or not here) is Loki, I saw a theory somewhere about how this is actually not Loki-Loki, but - I wanna say her name Sophie but that’s the actress, again I can’t go look it up bc I will lose my train of thought - but it’s a character who is similar to Amora and who was created by Loki and models herself as Loki but she’s actually someone else.

Ugh I can’t remember the details of the theory, but I am kinda going with it bc I don’t think that Loki would look so - not surprised but just kind of “oh, well, I wasn’t expecting that” if he were seeing the female version of himself. Like, he doesn’t seem to recognize her the way I assume he would recognize himself, male or female. Not only does that make me feel like she’s actually someone else, but also not recognizing her as the female version of himself doesn’t necessarily mean Loki doesn’t recognize her at all. He may very well recognize her as this other Amora-similar character and, if so, I really want to see how that character fits with MCU Loki (as I think she’s a comic book character but, again, I’d have to go back and find that theory).

Overall score, B-. Mostly solid, but needs moar Loki breakdowns and tears. (That's just me, don't fucking judge me.) Also, I really hate that we have to wait a week between episodes. I wish they were following Netflix’s method of dropping the entire season at once but, then again, if they did that, I’m not sure any of us would survive.

i would like to preface this post by saying that I literally got spoilers (before i watched the episode) from liTERALLY EVERYTHING from youtube to gOOGLE CHROME when i was trying to read the nEWS so in order to avoid spoiling it for anyone that hasnt seen it, STOP READING because this episode is inSANE and you don’t want it ruined for you.

Okay with that being said, let’s get started.

1. the first scene in wakanda absolutely deSTROYED ME. ayo helping bucky clear the winter soldier programming from his mind and then the silent shift of emotions on his face as the flashbacks happened and then when he realized he was free was just-- KDSFKSD the aCTING WAS SO GOOD thank you mr sebastian stan

2. bucky telling ayo that Zemo was a means to an end, especially in Wakandan, gave me chills bc it’s a direct parallel of Zemo telling Bucky that he was a means to an end. this show is just so carefully crafted omg

3. karli morgenthau got so much more screentime and development in this episode and i am hERE FOR IT. it’s really intriguing to get a deeper look into the Flag Smasher’s motivations and see a more personal side of their cause as well, especially in the memorial scene.

4. can we just take a moment. we need to take a moment. to just appreciate sam. hIS DIALOGUE IN THIS EPISODE. actually, in the whole show, but eSPECially in this episode just absolutely POPPED OFF. after this episode, I’m fully convinced that sam is 100% without a doubt the best character in this show. whoever wrote his lines is a genius. i love the scene where he talks to Karli, and I hope that they can have another chance to talk without *couGH* jOhn waLKER *coUGH* butting his head in because that conversation was just amazing. i loved how they discussed things they had in common, and a mutual understanding and how sam said “i agree with your fight, but not the way you’re fighting it.” this line was so good. and literally every other part of that conversation. the entire plot would have fallen to shambles by now if it wasn’t for sam so let’s give this man a round of applause please.

5. while we’re talking about sam, I might as well mention that i was very happy to see him in the falcon suit/wings again. he didn’t fly in episode 3 and i missed the action scenes with the wings. i think I gotta give Sam the most creativity points for the fight scenes in this show because he can fight both in the air and on the ground with a set of wings and weaponize them either way and that’s really cool

6. the dora milaje. I LOVE THEM. omg. i was so happy to see Ayo at the end of episode 3 and they just aSSERTED DOMINANCE in this episode and i loved it. their fighting style and weapons and clothing/armor design is just so elegant and mesmerizing to watch. “the dora milaje have jurisdiction wherever the dora milaje find themselves to be” omg. they took no crap from john walker and it was sO SATISFYING

7. on that note, watching walker get his butt kicked by the Dora Milaje while sam, bucky, and zemo just stood there was hilarious and probably one of my favorite scenes in this entire show so far.

8. WHEN AYO DISARMED BUCKY’s VIBRANIUM ARM. OMG. bucky was *surprised pikachu face* and so was I. I really, really hope they run into the wakandans again because there’s definitely a broken trust between them and i want that relationship to be more fully fleshed out and brought to closure too

9. there’s no way i’m making this list without talking about zemo singing to the kids and giving them candy at the beginning of the episode. that kinda gave me “creepy guy who kidnaps kids at the park” kinda vibes but it was also hilarious since Zemo was the only one making any progress on getting info in that scene xd

10. zemo getting away had the same energy as Loki yeeting with the tessaract in Endgame lmao

11. BUCKY WITH A KNIFE. when he caught the knife askdjfk i’ve been waiting for a bucky knife fight this enTIRE SHOW and i finally got it and me very happy  : >>>> (i’m determined to learn how he does the flippy trick w the pocketknife in Winter Soldier)

12. when Karli called Sarah Wilson i got chills. first of all sarah is an absolute fearless qUEEN but also the fact that Karli threatened Sam’s nephews akdfjaksdj pls dont hurt them Marvel

13. the parallel discussions between Zemo and Sam, Lemar and Walker about taking the super soldier serum were really neat. they both hark back to the conversation between Steve Rogers and Dr. Erskine in First Avenger, and i think that was the key turning point in revealing/completely clarifying both Sam and Walker’s true colors, which will now directly contradict each other for the rest of the show. 

14. people say that sam is the character who always tries to reason things out until he has absolutely no options left. i think that really shows through in this episode, and it’s also a good reference point/marker of the other characters’ development. Sam’s determination to talk things through with Karli actually brought them closer together (until sOMEONE decided to intervene coUGH) but his equal determination to keep peace/negotiate with Walker only drove them further apart, which makes me feel that even though karli and the flag smashers are the “villains” in this story, they are definitely not the antagonists (that would be walker, who’s directly trying to work against Sam and Bucky, the protagonists)

15. bucky’s “i know crazy when i see it cuz i am crazy” sent me LOL

16. when lemar died i think everyone just went 0 _ 0. i don’t think Karli intended to kill him when she kicked him into that wall, judging by the way they all ran off after they realized he was dead. tbh i’ve been netural towards lemar this entire time, tho i do appreciate his more pacifist attitude to walker’s explosive impulsiveness. he’s sort of like sam to bucky. but his death really felt like an accidental cross-fire casualty that cause walker to reach his breaking point

17. and lastly the scene with the bloody shield. 0 _ 0. the whole world was watching indeed

alright that’s it for this week. i can’t believe there’s only two episodes left 0 _ 0. to be honest, from our current point of view as fans i feel like this show needs another season, maybe 2. the reason being, I can’t really see a space that Sam and Bucky would fit into in the future of the MCU. Sam, maybe, if he resolves the deal with the Captain America mantle at the end of this show, but I feel like Bucky’s end goal is just to like, retire lmao. but also, the future of the MCU is gonna be really focused on like the more magicky characters like Wanda, Loki and Doctor Strange, and ofc Spiderman, Thor/Guardians and Captain Marvel, and then ppl are saying something abt the young avengers or something. But yeah, as near as i can figure this show seems like it should bring closure for Bucky at least, except i have no clue how they’re going to wrap all this stuff up in 2 episodes. in addition to the mess with Zemo and Walker and Sharon’s whole deal in Madripoor, I hope they also get back to America to bring their issues there full circle, like Bucky’s issue with Nakajima, Sam’s family and their home, and Isaiah Bradley. guess we’ll see, can’t wait for next week already ahhhh
