Pentagon sending 1,500 more active duty troops to US-Mexico border
The Pentagon will deploy roughly 1,500 more active duty soldiers to the southern border to support President Donald Trump’s expanding crackdown on immigration, a U.S. official said Friday.
That would eventually bring the total to about 3,600 active duty troops at the border.
The order has been approved, the official said, to send a logistics brigade from the 18th Airborne Corps at Fort Liberty in North Carolina. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the deployment has not yet been publicly announced.

(turns out McKay's DIDN'T have Mad Max cars lying in wait on the last leg of the trip to protect their prize money by taking out anyone who made it that far)
The family and I did the Ultimate McKay's Road Trip Challenge and had a great time. McKays had clearly prepared, and probably to the capacity that they could've, but the sheer volume of folks participating far outstripped what they were capable of handling according to their original plan and they were working like crazy to pivot as conditions changed from store to store, lines and parking situations became unsafe or unmanageable, and supplies ran out (ink for the stamps, paper for the forms, etc, in addition to the prizes).
Despite all this, and despite the chaos, almost everyone we encountered (and we encountered a lot of folks) was excited to be there, grateful for the store's generosity, and, for those that made it all the way across, elated to have completed it and received the wildly large grand prize.
The grand prize, BTW, was $800 in credit to be used at any of the stores. I've bought hundreds of books over the years from McKays, mostly priced between 75 cents and four dollars; At their prices, $800 is essentially a lifetime supply of used books.
And they didn't have a cap on the number of winners; if you did it, you got it.
The challenge was to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and I hope that the logistical challenges, which were many & staggering (though far moreso for the stores than the participants, save for the heat for those susceptible to it), don't cast a negative light on a branch of bookstores for whom so many thousands and thousands of people have such enthusiasm and affection as to prompt their participation in a 500+ mile cannonball run in the middle of a july worksweek.
I'm sure that the customers wish some things had been done differently and planned for differently, but not nearly as much as do the McKays folks. But this wasn't a Fyre Festival, this was a Woodstock.
Anyway, it was stressful at times, and we fretted over the possibility of its completion, but McKays bent over backwards to try and make it to where if folks were committed to making the whole trek, they got the whole prize. They made tons of allowances as situations changed.
If you haven't been to a McKays, and are ever passing along I-40, I hope that the mania surrounding this event gives makes clear how beloved this shop is to folks who live in Tennessee and North Carolina, and outsiders (like me) who pass, and stop at, it frequently, and makes you wanna see why.
It's the best used bookstore I've ever been to (no individual McKay's store has the scale and scope that does Powell's or the Strand, but their prices are DRAMATICALLY lower than either). I'm incredibly grateful for their prompting and hosting such a great adventure with my fellow readers, and their generosity in prizes in celebration of fifty years.

"The US Air Force has been sending unmarked planes from Britain’s base on Cyprus to Israel since it began bombing Gaza, it can be revealed. The planes are all C-295 and CN-235 aircraft, which are believed to be used by American special forces. Declassified has found 18 of these aircraft which have gone from the sprawling British air base on Cyprus, RAF Akrotiri, to Israel’s coastal city Tel Aviv since October 7. Akrotiri is the key node in the international effort to arm and provide logistical support for Israel’s assault on Gaza. But the UK government has always refused to divulge any information about US activities at Akrotiri, which is known to include transporting weapons to Israel.
Asked in May how many US Air Force (USAF) flights had taken off from the base since October 7, defence minister Leo Docherty said: 'The Ministry of Defence does not comment on the operations of our Allies.' But Declassified discovered the unmarked planes that flew from Akrotiri to Israel from November to June have a serial number showing they are operated by the USAF. Most of these journeys had the flight number GONZO62. Six more unmarked C-130 planes have gone from Akrotiri to Tel Aviv since the bombing of Gaza began, which are believed to be USAF, but it was not possible for Declassified to locate their operator. The C-130 can carry 128 combat troops and almost 20 tonnes of cargo.
The new information could further implicate British ministers in war crimes in Gaza. In November 2023, a US military official revealed that American special forces were stationed in Israel and 'actively helping the Israelis.' ... Most of the unmarked planes show that they were recently at Fayetteville, North Carolina, which is home to Fort Liberty, the largest US Army base by population with nearly 50,000 active-duty soldiers. Formerly called Fort Bragg, it is home to the 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) which 'assigns, equips, trains, certifies, and validates [Army Special Operations Forces] Soldiers and units to conduct global operations.' The Pentagon says this unit is 'the most adaptable and capable enabling force in the United States military.' The planes, the C-295 and CN-235, are produced by Airbus and believed to be used by 427th Special Operations Squadron which has been described as USAF’s 'most secretive squadron' and is based at Fort Liberty.
... Declassified has also found 26 marked USAF planes have arrived at RAF Akrotiri since the bombing of Gaza began. These have included 16 huge C-17 military transport aircraft from US bases in Germany, Spain and Kuwait. The C-17 is capable of transporting 134 personnel and many types of military equipment, including Abrams tanks and three Black Hawk helicopters. The US military notes that its role is to 'rapidly project and sustain an effective combat force close to a potential battle area.'"

Why Mask Bans Fail Jews and Other Marginalized Groups - Published June 28, 2024
The #UnmaskHateNY campaign, launched to address rising antisemitism, proposes banning masks for Jewish safety but leaves disabled Jews and other marginalized communities behind. This initiative could have severe public health repercussions and stigmatize vulnerable groups.
Challenges of Enforcing Health Exemptions Health exemptions for mask bans are impractical and unfair to enforce. Determining eligibility would burden individuals and law enforcement, especially since many health conditions requiring masks can be invisible- At least 10% of Americans have invisible disabilities. Some individuals wear masks to protect their health or the health of family members, even if they do not have any documented health risks themselves.
Requiring disclosure of private medical information infringes on privacy rights and can lead to discrimination. The logistical challenges of verifying exemptions would result in inconsistent application and abuse, creating a civil rights and public health crisis.
Stigmatizing Masks Leads to Harassment Masks are crucial for safeguarding public health. Associating mask-wearing with anti-hate efforts undermines public safety and discriminates against health-conscious individuals.
Misguided Comparisons The campaign draws parallels to historical instances of masked intimidation, such as those by the Ku Klux Klan. However, this comparison is misguided. Today, most people wear masks to protect their health and the health of others, not to intimidate. This conflation unfairly penalizes those who mask for safety and contributes to a climate of fear and discrimination. There is no substantial evidence that banning masks will deter crime or improve public safety. Data shows that crime rates decreased despite increased masked use. Studies have shown that face masks are less effective than sunglasses in hiding identity and do not deter facial recognition software.
Increased Danger for Mask-Wearers Mask bans can often lead to increased harassment and discrimination against those who wear masks, including Jewish individuals.
After North Carolina’s legislation was introduced in May 2024, mask-wearers have experienced harassment and assault, even before it was made into law.
New Yorkers have already been subject to physical attacks due to mask usage.
A man in New Jersey was left permanently blind after being attacked for wearing a mask in September 2023.

Hey, if you have a minute and a few dollars, can you visit one of these links to donate to the disaster relief in western NC and the surrounding areas?
This Google Doc has resources you can send any loved ones in the area and a couple additional ways to donate in one of the tabs:
Posting this on main to reach the most people. My partner lived in this area for years and is from NC, so this hits close to home for us. Thankfully, their loved ones are all safe, but there are so many people who aren't. This area wasn't equipped for this kind of disaster since it's mountainous, and many affected are in rural communities that lack the logistics and support of more populated, easily accessed areas. Please show some love if you're able to 💚

Lori Ann Larocco at CNBC:
Billions in trade came to a screeching halt at U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast ports after members of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) began walking off the job after 12:01 a.m. ET on October 1. The ILA is North America’s largest longshoremen’s union, with roughly 50,000 of its 85,000 members making good on the threat to strike at 14 major ports subject to a just-expired master contract with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), and picketing workers beginning to appear at ports. The union and port ownership group failed to reach agreement by midnight on a new contract in a protracted battle over wage increases and use of automation. In a last-ditch effort on Monday to avert a strike that will cause significant harm to the U.S. economy if it is lengthy — at least hundreds of millions of dollars a day at the largest ports like New York/New Jersey — the USMX offered a nearly 50% wage hike over six years, but that was rejected by the ILA, according to a source close to the negotiations. The port ownership group said it hoped the offer would lead to a resumption of collective bargaining.
The 14 ports where preparations for a strike have been underway are Boston, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Wilmington, North Carolina, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami, New Orleans, Mobile, and Houston. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement issued shortly after midnight that “the first large-scale eastern dockworker strike in 47 years began at ports from Maine to Texas, including at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In preparation for this moment, New York has been working around the clock to ensure that our grocery stores and medical facilities have the essential products they need.” Rhetoric from ILA leadership has been aggressive in the weeks leading up to the strike, with ILA president Harold Daggett, who was a union member the last time it went out on strike in 1977, telling rank-and-file members who unanimously voted to authorize a strike — in a recent video message, “We’ll crush them.”
[...] The most significant issues would be faced by food and automobile industries, Kamins said, as they rely especially heavily on the ports that will be shut down. While a surge in inflation is highly unlikely even with a longer strike, even a modest reacceleration could create uncertainty and force the Federal Reserve to be more cautious about lowering interest rates, which would weigh on the overall outlook for job growth and investment. A one-week strike could cost the U.S. economy $3.78 billion, according to an analysis by The Conference Board, and cause supply chain slowdowns through mid-November. In all, the ports threatened with strikes handle $3 trillion annually in U.S. annual international trade.
Many industries are preparing for major repercussions. Noushin Shamsili, CEO and president of Nuco Logistics, which specializes in pharmaceutical imports and exports, said the strike comes at a critical time for inventory replenishment for the pharma sector. “Almost all of this industry is just on time,” said Shamsili. “Raw materials are being brought in to complete drug manufacturing. Medical supplies for clinics and hospitals are on these vessels. For a while importers did not bring in a lot of cargo because they were overflowing with supplies post-Covid. Now they have started reordering medical devices, gloves, syringes, and tubing.” Shamsili also said the East Coast ports are a gateway for generic medicine made in India. Approximately 48% of the active pharmaceutical ingredients used in the U.S. are being imported from India. Without these APIs, medications cannot be produced. APIs are also manufactured in Europe, which also use the East Coast ports as U.S. points of entry.
[...] The Biden administration finds itself in a delicate political moment, with the presidential election one month away and President Biden vowing he will not use existing labor law to force union workers back on the job, which is within his powers under the Taft-Hartley Act. The Taft-Hartley Act, passed in 1947, was a revision of U.S. law governing labor relations and union activity that granted a U.S. president the power to suspend a strike for an 80-day “cooling off period” in cases where “national health or safety” are at risk.
Today begins the strike along East Coast and Gulf Coast ports after International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) members walked off their jobs.
This strike, depending on how long it lasts, could have a major impact on the elections and the economy.

I don't want to be too harsh here, because I do understand his sentiments here. But, it is just so deeply out of touch to what real people are having to go through.
I know it's his way of trying to relate to the hard workers in Hurricane Helene, but it just doesn't work.
Because these relief workers don't have the option of just going 'you know what, I think I'll not bother and go sit on a beach indefinitely.' They can't do it. They don't have the money to and they need to work in these extremely difficult conditions to sustain their life and family.
It's completely different to a Billionaire who has wealth that we can't even envisage who could just walk away from everything. Us normal people, we don't have that option.
It's also extremely disingenuous to compare him being on a campaign trail to the relief workers in North Carolina. I've worked on campaigns before, both in the UK and in the US, and yes they are extremely taxing and exhausting. But that's more for those of us working behind the scenes than the Politician themselves.
Because whilst they do need to travel a lot, and present themselves as the best candidate, often to people who can be quite combative and borderline dangerous, they aren't the ones working behind the scenes to ensure the perfect campaign.
Because as a team we have to arrange all the logistics, both with the venue and the media; the security; write details on their topics they will have to focus on. Often then at least a few of us will need to be at the venue with them, meaning that travel is included.
Then there is the analysis. Gauging the reaction of those who are there. Seeing how they performed in the media. Looking at how they're doing in the opinion polls. Trying to figure out how they can present themselves better. Trying to figure out those key areas that need to be targeted to get their approval rating up.
And that takes a lot of extremely long hours and hard work. Often, the pay just doesn't even compare to what we are doing in the background. We are so underpaid, and do 10 times the work of the candidate in question.
So whilst, yes I sort of get his sentiments, it just feels so out of touch with what the reality is for us normal people. Both for the relief workers who are supporting the efforts after Hurricane Helene, and also those who work on his own campaign.

From what I am seeing from people on the ground via social media Western North Carolina, and parts of Tennessee, and Georgia took a massive hit from hurricane Helen. Roads are gone, bridges gone, entire towns washed away. News from there is that emergency management agencies won’t go in because the roads aren’t clear. Private pilots in places are being threatened with arrest if they fly helicopters in. Food, water, shelter, and fuel are all desperately needed. So two big things come to mind:
First we have some of the largest corporations in the world, why can’t they step up? Walmart has logistics nailed down. Coke-a-cola, Pepsico, and Conagra, pretty much control the food and beverage industry, can they not shave some profit while doing “I’m not an evil corporation” public relations?
The United States can drop a Burger King in a shipping container in a war zone, can’t these corporations drop some generic commercial kitchens in these cut off areas? I mean food trucks are a thing so I know we could fit a kitchen sponsored by Kimberly Clark in a 20 foot container and I bet if they reached out to John Deere, Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin or Northrup Grumin, one of them could get them just about anywhere even without a road. Heck partner up with Blue Bird, a school bus will go just about anywhere with the right tires!
Can Elon Musk not afford to drop Starlink set ups to survivors? Space-X can launch a rocket and land it on a small pad in the ocean, don’t tell me they can’t deliver supplies to a parking lot. Can Jeff Bezos not use Amazon drones to get food in? Bonus PR if they wave the charges for these folks. Can REI that is so quick to outfit protestors for Occupy Wall Street suddenly not be able to sponsor families with camping gear?
Second, why hasn’t the Army Corp of Engineers been deployed? Or maybe the Seabees? Can we not dispatch a few dozen Chinooks into ferrying supplies and people? Can we not establish MASH units for the injured? The United States Military can deploy anywhere on Earth in 24 hours. Why not Appalachia? I’m not one for martial law but right now too many people in charge are too big for their britches and I think it’s time we assign a general to the job. Why does emergency relief have to come from the Cajun Navy and not the U.S. Navy? Why do the owners of monster trucks get in and out in dangerous times but relief agencies can’t or won’t?
I know some will say the president has to authorize deployment, but so can Congress. We should have learned from Katrina, but obviously we haven’t. Katrina was totally FUBAR and now we are doing it all over again nineteen years later. Is it because our people in power look down on mountain folk? Just as they did the poor people of New Orleans?
There is no way I can make this make sense especially in a time where our leaders send billions to other nations. It is past time for our government and corporations to shift inward, help our people, and do the right thing.

Kackles has been in North Carolina (well at least I think she’s been there) for the last 4 days. She chose to do an adventure sleepaway camp and it took everything in me to not ask for all of the logistics. “The kids will get on a bus and whitewater raft and horseback ride in the Smoky Mountains” is what I was told. “They will camp in tents and will get to cook food on the trail.”
She knows no one doing this and doesn’t care one bit about that. “I’ll make friends on the bus!” We sent her with a ton of new camping equipment and money for snacks and off she went.
One thing about Chicken Little is she is not afraid of the unknown. I told her next year we might look into Outward Bound and she’s all for it.
I admire that kind of chutzpah and absolutely cannot wait to hear her stories in a few days!

The New York Times did a deep dive into Scott’s campaign spending yet could not determine much about what the "
Staples-based" businesses actually do.
According to F.E.C. filings last week, the Scott campaign made $4.3 million in payments from April 1 to June 30 to a company called Meeting Street Services L.L.C. The money included $2.8 million for “placed media” and more for digital fund-raising, strategy and video production. Meeting Street Services has no online presence, and has not been paid by any other campaign, records show. Its listed address, in North Charleston, S.C., is a Staples store. Records show that the company was set up in Delaware in August 2022, and its incorporation documents list only one name — Barry M. Benjamin — as an authorized representative. According to business records in South Carolina, the company is managed by AMZ Holdings L.L.C., a company set up in May 2021 and based at the same Staples store in North Charleston. AMZ’s Delaware incorporation documents were also signed by Mr. Benjamin. … The Scott campaign also made more than $940,000 in payments last quarter to Advanced Planning and Logistics, a limited liability company set up in December 2022 — again, by Mr. Benjamin — and whose listed address is a Staples store in Fairfax, Va. The company received multiple payments for air travel and event production. Again, Mr. Scott’s campaign was the only campaign that paid the company. read more

Three Israeli companies — UBQ Materials (plastic alternative made from household trash), Fabric (automated urban micro-fulfillment centers) and Believer (cultivated meat) – appear on the inaugural XB100 ranking of the top 100 private deep-tech companies, published by XPRIZE and Bessemer Venture Partners.
UBQ and Fabric are headquartered in Tel Aviv and Believer in Rehovot.
According to XPRIZE, “The XB100 was launched to celebrate the entrepreneurs who are commercializing scientific research into deep tech and spotlight how they are impacting our society across nine categories.
“The XB100 evaluation process involved ranking companies across four factors: impact on humanity, valuation, scientific difficulty, and commercial traction.”
Bessemer Venture Partners’ Tess Hatch said, “The companies on the XB100 list represent the most valuable and impactful private companies in the deep-tech sector. The XB100 awardees defy imagination and will reshape the human experience.”
“UBQ’s inclusion in this ranking exemplifies how innovation and technology can extend beyond software to break through the norms of our physical world,” commented Jack “Tato” Bigio, cofounder and co-CEO of UBQ Materials.
“UBQ is introducing a sustainable alternative to oil-based plastics, reducing the carbon footprint of thousands of products across industries including construction, logistics and supply chain, consumer goods and even automotive.”
The company’s patented thermoplastic (made from trash that would have been landfilled or incinerated) has been adopted by brands including Mercedes-Benz, PepsiCo and McDonald’s. This year, UBQ will open its new facility in The Netherlands to produce 80,000 tons of UBQ annually from 104,600 metric tons of waste.
Fabric, which was also recently on CB Insights’ Retail Tech 100 list, reports that brands using its robotic urban micro-fulfillment centers have seen a more than 62% reduction in labor costs, an over 71% improvement in storage density, upward of 99% inventory accuracy and a threefold increase in throughput compared to manual fulfillment.
Believer is building its first US commercial-scale lab-grown meat factory in Wilson, North Carolina – which is on track to be the largest facility of its kind anywhere, capable of producing 22 million pounds of cultivated meat annually.

hi, hello ! my name is lauryn and i use she/her/hers as pronouns. i'm twenty-three and i'm currently in the cst timezone ! below i have an expanded tldr for min-ji, and a massive biography linked at the way bottom if you'd like to know more ! i know introductions can be overwhelming, so i tried to condense info as much as i could ! to try and make matters a little easier, i've also linked a connections page below that has some ideas. thanks in advance and i'm so excited to be writing with everyone !
BACKGROUND . . .
[ ! ] TRIGGER WARNING : child neglect, poverty, theft, burglary & robberies, legal system
⸻ ┊ 0 0 1  ›  min-ji was born in fort pierce, florida. her parents were basically mariners and weren't prepared for a kid, financially or otherwise. to keep the family afloat, her parents worked a lot and min-ji was often left in the care of others. this left min-ji with little surveillance and a lot of independence from a young age.
⸻ ┊ 0 0 2  ›  grew up around lots of water and learned not to make a ruckus. quietly acted out by stealing, which she got really good at doing. sadly, min-ji had to really be the one to look out for herself in her childhood. she became very sneaky as a result, and loved to see what she could get away with.
⸻ ┊ 0 0 3  ›  her desire to figure things out and trick the public culminated in reading mystery novels and lock picking. she snuck off to the port a lot and was more conspicuous but had less surveillance as she got older. min-ji also made a friend! his name was mateo
⸻ ┊ 0 0 4  ›  cue heartfelt tale of childhood friends with similar circumstances and interests. then, min-ji and mateo started doing delinquent stuff and spent a lot of time at the port. eventually, they met william jr, an older teen who did boat tours. BAM get rich quick scheme: find blackbeard's treasure
⸻ ┊ 0 0 5  ›  william sr got in on this and what started out as a dumb idea actually got super serious (tons of context and logistics in the biography + a heck of an adventure story) eventually, the group took off to north carolina after min-ji graduated.
⸻ ┊ 0 0 6  ›  they eventually found blackbeard's treasure on portsmouth island following a wild adventure where each member had a specific role. min-ji's role was mostly gathering funds in the early stages by illegal means, and later getting the group through difficult places without getting spotted.
⸻ ┊ 0 0 7  ›  north carolina laws say you can't keep treasure, so they stashed some away for themselves and fenced/laundered it through a shady lawyer that also represented them in their legal case to have a legal claim on the treasure that they left behind. the other three members of the group were pretty hellbent on having some notoriety from their finding and doing the right thing which is why they didn't take it all for themselves... min-ji, not so much
⸻ ┊ 0 0 8  ›  after this, the group went their separate ways and min-ji felt abandoned. she began committing robberies out of bitterness and playing that old childhood game of how much can she get away with, and it turns out... a lot. but she was lonely and sad. the group lost their legal battle and edward teach's treasure was left in possession of the state of north carolina.
⸻ ┊ 0 0 9  ›  at that point, the group reunited for a drink and min-ji admitted to her recent criminal activities. she was chastised for it and the wills + mateo admitted that they parted ways because they had trouble dealing with the guilt and fear that came from their stolen treasure and subsequent criminal activities. min-ji seemed to seek out these situations and she was angry at them, and angry at the system that failed her.
⸻ ┊ 0 1 0  ›  the day after the case was settled, she was recruited for the libertalia (age 21). she accepted within a day after being given assurances of the legitimacy of the group. min-ji joined because she wanted to belong and feel valued and use her talents. she missed being a part of something. and she was good at what she did!
⸻ ┊ 0 1 1 ›  in the nine years since then, min-ji has really grown up. she enjoys being a part of the group and thrives in her position. a mentor took her under their wing and really honed her skills. her strengths lie in gear-oriented things like climbing, as well as traversing security-heavy, cramped, or difficult to navigate paths undetected. she is happier nowadays, naturally charismatic and playful. min-ji can be soft spoken before you get to know her. has a reputation for scaring people by sneaking up on them and messing with people when she's bored. she is a sneaky (kinda manipulative) gal and a wonderful ally, but a horrible enemy to have.
PERSONALITY . . .
⸻ ┊ 0 0 1 › min-ji is a menace. they’re destructive and often don’t have the best moral compass, so they tend to do things for themselves or those that they’re loyal to. she can also come off as a little angsty at times. she has a narrow world view in the way that people that don’t matter to her, they don’t matter at all. her childhood was rocky and involved absent parents, and all she really wants is to fit in. the libertalia has been a dream in that regard, and min-ji is fully devoted to the group as a whole, and its members. if you ever need to hide a body, she’s your gal.
⸻ ┊ 0 0 2 › when she does find people that she cares about, min-ji is compassionate and doting. she will often act playful and easygoing around familiar faces. while min-ji may have bad intentions as a whole, her intentions when it comes to her friends are pure and wholesome. her kindness is highly selective. though a lot of her socializing is often about what she can get out of it, she tries to make sure others have their needs met as well. in a way, people are just entertainment to her, but they are necessary in order to keep her content and relatively well behaved.
⸻ ┊ 0 0 3 › min-ji’s demeanor can change depending on who she is interacting with. if she isn’t familiar with them, she is more likely to be standoffish. min-ji can also come off as a little weird, as she isn’t afraid to speak her mind or act how she would like to. sometimes this involves pranking or scaring people for her own amusement. she possesses a confidence and self-awareness that has led to a strong knowledge of her own identity. as a result, tearing her down or trying to manipulate her isn’t likely to work. min-ji, herself, can be incredibly manipulative, and enjoys messing with people and making them squirm.

Although it’s all speculations and it’s probably better to wait for a reliable source, the news about OBX resuming filming in December could actually make sense in terms of logistics ‘cause the protest doesn't seem to be approaching a closure anytime soon so they probably came to terms with it and completely modified the whole production and schedule around it with an estimated time, a couple of more months of delay is a very strong possibility.
I was just thinking about it and considering they were supposed to be filming from June to December (so the entirety of summer-fall) the plan was probably to have outside shootings during the summer and then the fall dedicated to the shots in enclosed/remote locations 'cause I mean, you can't exactly have them exactly running around North Carolina in shorts and crops in November/December and the scenery would also be quite different from what they want for the show, so with that thought in mind I realized that the entire schedule probably shifted towards winter-spring and maybe is set from November/December to May/June 2024 reversing the plan for the locations, plus the time required for the post production I sadly believe that if this is the case the release date was originally set towards September/October 2024 but will most likely be shifting towards early 2025.
In conclusion we don’t know for sure what’s true or not, this is just my prospective on the situation and doesn’t have any solid foundations but one thing I think we should come to terms for sure is that we’re gonna wait a looooong time for season 4 to be released, 2025 seems to become more real by the day.
Yeah, this makes a lot of sense. I still think late 2024 is possible but I can’t imagine them wanting to release it in like December. (Of course, February was wild too so who really knows). I don’t personally think the original release date was going to be as late as September/October though. They’ve turned the seasons out much faster than that before and this show doesn’t really need almost a year of post.
Either way, I think we might at well get comfy. It seems like it’ll be a while 🥲

Understanding Land Clearing Cost Per Acre
Tumblr media
Property owners who plan to construct, farm or develop land must perform land clearing operations. The first step before land use starts is the clearing operation which removes all trees and shrubs and other landblockers. Landowners frequently inquire about the expense of clearing an acre of land. Your budget planning benefits from knowing which elements determine land clearing prices. North Carolina residents can depend on King Land Clearing for dependable land clearing solutions throughout the state.
What is Land Clearing?
Tumblr media
Factors That Affect Land Clearing Cost Per Acre
The land clearing cost per acre can vary widely based on several factors. Here are the key considerations:
1. Type and Density of Vegetation
The expense of clearing operations depends heavily on both vegetation density and plant species on the property. The clearing operation duration together with necessary equipment use increases directly with the density of large trees and dense underbrush in wooded areas. The clearance cost for land decreases when vegetation exists in small amounts or when shrubs are smaller in size.
2. Size of the Land
The cost system applies per acre units yet larger projects might qualify for discounted rates. The total expenses for clearing small land areas become higher than larger areas because equipment movement and setup charges apply.
3. Terrain and Accessibility
Property topography together with accessibility constraints determine overall cost. Specialized equipment along with increased labor costs will increase expenses when working with steep or uneven property topography. The cost of accessing challenging properties will result in elevated transportation expenses and extra logistical costs.
4. Removal of Obstacles
The removal of rocks along with stumps and other obstacles from your land will add work that increases total costs. Stump grinding operations increase project costs yet remain essential for readying land before new purposes can be developed.
5. Permits and Regulations
Property owners in North Carolina need to obtain permits before starting land clearance projects due to local restrictions. The fees connected to permits based on your location need to be included in your budget when you live in North Carolina.
6. Disposal of Debris
The disposal process for land debris starts after completion of land clearing. Three disposal options exist which include transportation for removal and authorized burning and chipper processing into mulch. The cost outcomes differ according to the disposal techniques used.
Average Land Clearing Cost Per Acre
North Carolina land clearing expenses span between $1,500 and $5,000 for each land acre. The price variation for land clearing services ranges within this cost spectrum based on vegetation type and terrain condition and extra stump grinding service requests.
The removal of trees in dense forested areas can drive total costs above $5,000 for each acre under management. The cost of tree clearing operations falls between $1,500 and $1,800 for areas with minimal tree density. A professional estimate designed for your unique property is essential to obtain.
