Why Season 2 being announced for October 2020 is NOT too late

Hi. Let’s talk about the dates for season 2. AND WHY YOU SHOULD STOP THINKING IT’S TOO LATE. (Cause I’m tired of people complaining while being uninformed, so if you complain, NOW you will know why, even if you clearly have no reasons to complain)

The Promised Neverland anime adaptations is made by a small studio that recently separated from A-1 pictures : Cloverworks. As you were able to witness with TPN, they did a great job animating the show, and they clearly put lots of efforts in it to give us a very good anime adaptations from one of the most important manga of the Shounen Jump.

The fact is, most of you are probably aren’t aware of it, they didn’t just waited 6 months without doing anything before announcing the dates for TPN season 2. They actually made another anime in-between… on not just any anime...

Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demon Battlefront: Babylonia

Maybe some of you aren’t aware of it, but while TPN is one of the major pillars of the Shounen Jump… The Fate series is practically the pillar for any otaku culture. It is one of the biggest multimedia franchise in THE WORLD. It’s practically the japanese Marvel at this point. With dozens of different stories, with different adaptations, going from games to mangas to animes to ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING. And Fate/Grand Order only, their mobile game, gets them BILLIONS of dollars just through it’s players (it’s a free game, with a very good and compelling story and nice characters). And Fate/Babylonia is the adaptation of one of the major chapters of this mobile game.

TPN was something they couldn’t have make a bad adaptation of just by its reputation. But Fate? Oh boy...

It’s their whole carreer that could have been destroyed if they messed up and lots of money lost if they had done a poor job. And when I mean a lots of money… huh… do you remember the billions I talked about earlier? Yeah. Who wouldn’t want that?

So while we were patiently waiting for an annoucement for season 2, Cloverworks had put their best animators, screenwriters… etc. to Fate/Babylonia (and from what I heard, the result was worth it). Very little people were available to prepare TPN season 2. And most importantly, Fate/Babylonia started to broadcast in October 2019, and has 21 episodes. So yes, it is still broadcasting.

So you could’ve definitely forgot about anything until April for a season 2 anyway as they wouldn’t dare make two big franchises overlap like that. Not only that, but they need to make a proper launching campain for TPN too. To balance all of that, you needed to have another few months of wait.

“But why October then? It’s almost two years of wait!”

Because, such a long preparation time only means one thing : a 24 episodes season. To prepare such a thing, you need a lot of time. And I bet they made their annoucement for season 2 at the end of season 1 just after seeing the hype for the anime, and hadn’t prepared much beforehand. Also they need to get back their best animators from Fate/Babylonia to put them to TPN season 2 to be sure to give us the best product possible (because Fate is important, but TPN still is too). I also want to add that Fate could also have been a test to see if they could make long-run animes, to prepare for TPN season 2. And, since we are in the final arc of the manga, it also leaves them enough time to wait for the end of the manga and to eventually start preparing a season 3

So yes, logicastically speaking, it was the best decision. And the best dates to give us the season 2 in 2020 like promised. (As for anyone who thoughts they had announced it for January : it actually was a re-broadcast. Not the actual season 2.)

So thanks Cloverworks for their amazing job and their dedication to their products, they are doing a great job! AND APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT WE HAVE ACTUAL DATES TOO instead of complaining about how long the wait will be.

i. we walk through hazy nights arms outstretched no longer sure if searching is the right word but it is the first to come to mind maybe club music plays in the background something exciting something that shakes your bones back into feeling alive like there was once something living inside of them ii. there is mist but it is unclear whether it is visible maybe it wraps deep around us until it becomes our skin maybe that is why when our fingertips brush up against our own self it feels other i am no longer the only one living inside me iii. the music is softer now but it becomes a visual in turn this becomes a taste not yet discovered something syrupy that drips from mind to tongue and yet stays put unable or unwilling to escape iv. maybe something is flowing through us maybe something mixed in with my blood using my body’s own survival to spread itself malicious is not the word but it is the first in my mind although maybe it too is simply searching for a home in someone else v. we’re unsure how our limbs are meant to fit together in this space everything pointing to us taking up too much as if we don’t deserve the oceans we could be swimming in as if we are not made from stars maybe i retreat into cliche because other people’s well worn words are more comfortable than my own vi. maybe there’s an electricity inside us or maybe we’re just kids
