Peeling logs with a drawknife is a traditional method of woodworking used to shape wood by removing shavings. It consists of a blade with a handle at each end. It is pulled or “drawn” toward the operator. A great way to feature the logs beautiful natural grain and build upper body strength! 💪

//Still floating that little dream world idea around. And then started brainstorming what Lambda's might be like. So far, toying around with landscape ideas such as there being a sky with building bits smushed together, floating a nice blue sky with all the other items that can be seen floating in there. Lambda's hanging outside this big green building in the center. You can travel through it!

I've been having a recurring dream for several weeks now. Every time I have it, it gets interrupted, and I don't get to see the conclusion. I finally slept long enough to see more of it today.
I'm on a family trip to South Carolina, and I visit a museum on the history of lynchings in America. It's a brutal and unflinching document of racism in America. Many leave traumatized.
Later that night, as I'm walking past the museum to our hotel. I see a statue outside the museum come to life and beckon people inside the museum. I'm not a part of the group of people it motions to, but I hang back and follow at a distance. Inside, the spirits of those in the exhibits impart wisdom and powers to those who come in after hours. Superpowers that allow them to survive the racism thrown their way.
The next day, I go through the museum again, comparing what I see during the day to what I saw the night before. I make sure I'm around the museum at the same time that night to get welcomed in. This time, I spoke to the ancestors and asked questions. I leave with no visible powers. This upsets me because I see people get Spider-Man like powers to help them, and I'm getting nothing.
(This is where the dream kept ending)
The next night, before the statue even has an opportunity to come to life, I'm standing there waiting. As soon as it awakens, I begin to ask it questions. Is something wrong with me? Why am I not being helped? Have I done something wrong, and so forth.
That night, I'm the only person the statue takes inside. I'm taken into a House of Leaves like Labyrinth underneath the museum of exhibits deemed too gruesome or depressing for the museum.
The message I keep receiving from the ancestors is to be weary of those who smile in your face but have different intentions. I thank them, the statue, and leave.
On my way back to the hotel room, I run into a guy who wants to talk about social justice, but something seems wrong. He's just stringing well-known phrases together. As the conversation continues, I realize I can literally see his vibe.
I can see that he's just saying shit to gain my trust.

Dentist today. Crying screaming and throwing up
#this should not be happening to me!!!!!!#he only has a short appointment available so i think they’re just going to slap some composite on it and send me on my way#which…… fine. i don’t care anymore#i just don’t want to be in pain#in a way i’m kind of relieved because it means my friend can’t come over#i’m trying to help her with something but all of the dates she has for when stuff happened are pretty wrong according to my records#(which i trust because they come from stuff like timestamped images and phone call logs)#(whereas hers come from her going ‘well i think THIS happened after THAT but i’m not sure so i’ll just ascribe a random date to it’)#and also i feel like she’s trying to twist some of her recollections so that they back up HER recollections#but sometimes it’s totally unrelated but she Wants it to be related so she’s trying to claim i heard something i couldn’t have heard#i had to tell her like 3 times that i wasn’t in the country on this date i was supposed to be at her house#so it’s all just really frustrating#so yeah she wanted to come over here and complain and i was like no this is the last thing i need#i’m trying to redo my nails for god’s sake#oh my nail polish came off in the bath lol 🥲#like fully peeled. never had that happen before#i do think it was a combination of things. 1) used a dodgy old sally hansen strengthener on my bare nails#2) next layer was a holo taco base coat which always seem to be a Bit peely#even if not actually a peely base#3) i only had a thin layer of mooncat polish on. just 2 coats#4) top coat was glossy taco. my polish had been on maybe an hour and i proceeded to get in the bath and submerge myself#it was a ridiculously hot bath too so i’m not surprised my polish lifted#but now i need to paint my nails again and i need to get to the dentist and then i need to get some work done this afternoon#i don’t have time to explain that i was not here in february 2021#personal

poetry smackdown has brought some of the most media illiterate people out of the shadows... i cant even make fun it makes me too sad. half-related (about poetry smackdown, not media literacy) but if ada limón loses to the orange i will never forgive any of you
#the orange is okay. it is an okay poem. no more no less#overexposure is more on the fault of the chronically online (me) but also on a technical level it is just very very okay#if not clunky metrically#overexposure both of the poem itself and the general theme. yeah yeah peeling various citrus fruits as an act of love yeah yeah#theme is beautiful a lot of the time but when you see it everywhere it gets a little tiring. and i am a little too prone to the eye-roll#log

i’m paranoid i’m gonna fuck up my tattoo bc of the aftercare but tbh if so many dumbasses get tattoos and it ends up fine i should be fine.
#i had to take off my saniderm earlier than the guy told me to cuz i applied it bad and it was already peeling and ink spilling and getting-#crusty.#i was out all day tho so i could change it or just remove it entirely until now. i cleaned it tho and put lotion on 🤕#um i don’t have actual soap to use for it tho i need to buy soemthing tomorrow#captain’s log
