And there’s no way back to where we’ve been
Joel didn’t remember.
Grace didn’t blame him. She’d forgotten plenty: the smell of her mother’s kitchen, the moves of the Philidor Countergambit, the color of her first car, the chemo induction for AML.
She hadn’t forgotten Joel but she hadn’t remembered him until he came back to Jackson, Ellie at his side. Both of them had had more wariness than relief in their eyes, except when they looked at each other. She didn’t say anything when Maria introduced her as Dr. Yang, Jackson’s head physician, though she grimaced at the title and the implication that there was a staff and a hierarchy, that she didn’t operate out of a log cabin or rely primarily on moonshine instead of Betadine to clean wounds. Her stethoscope was shit, barely a step up from the old Fisher-Price doctor’s kit model, which she hadn’t told anyone, because what could they do about it? She wondered what it would be that jogged Joel’s memory, if anything did. When they’d met before, in Before, she’d only been Grace, her hair caught back with a clip, wearing a navy-blue UVA sweatshirt and a pair of Calvin Klein jeans her mother would have died to know she’d spent nearly full-price on. A pair of ballet flats instead of scuffed work boots. They’d only spent one night together.
It wasn’t like that.
She had a slow morning in clinic, no one at death’s door or about to deliver a new resident of the commune, no one who’d gotten on the wrong side of a carving/paring/whittling knife, which meant she could sit in the swivel chair they’d found her and nurse her cup of mint tea in a way that would suggest to someone else that she liked it or found it an adequate substitute for coffee, which she emphatically did not. It meant she could think back to that night and let herself fill in the gaps, a detail here, a detail there. There hadn’t been any obvious reason for the flight to be delayed, so she hadn’t worried at first, because it was probably a late cleaning crew or a last-minute staff swap, not some huge blizzard bearing down on them that would require a cutesy name and tiresome updates from ever-more-tired meteorologists. She’d catch up on that article she was due to present in morning report or find a copy of the splashy rom-com bestseller Lauren had been going on and on about and in a hour or so, a new gate would be announced and she’d figuratively pat herself on the back for not checking (and thus losing) any luggage, even if she had to hike halfway to kingdom come to actually get to the new gate.
The flight was cancelled.
The airline’s long-suffering rep informed her that the next available flight to her destination would leave the following day at 11 am and here was a voucher for a night at the airport hotel, just across the way, ma’am, and to have a nice day.
Grace was dismissed too quickly to fume. She used all her willpower to keep from crumpling up the voucher into a ball that the hotel would refuse to honor.
“Fuck this!” muttered the man standing across from her in front of a battered duffel bag who must have been a few people behind her in the line. He was shaking his head, which she couldn’t help noticing was a pretty attractive head on an absolutely smoking brick shithouse body and yes, she was objectifying him and mixing metaphors or at least idioms but he’d never know. Hell, she probably wouldn’t even mention her reaction to her Lauren, or not until she’d had a few margaritas (not her favorite, but Lauren had bought a special margarita-blender and Grace was obligated to help her make it more than an impulse buy after a particularly lousy breakup.)
“It sucks,” she offered, surprising herself by talking to him instead of scuttling off to the hotel to try and get what was sure to be a crappy night’s sleep. He had curly dark hair that looked like he’d run his hand through it a number of times and the kind of scruffy beard like he hadn’t bothered to shave for a few days.
“If I did my job this badly, there wouldn’t be a finished kitchen reno in all of Austin,” he said, exasperation giving way to something else. Something more charming, a degree of friendliness conjured by the situation, but maybe more than that. “My name’s Joel and I’m not a serial killer.”
“Is that your standard introduction?” Grace asked.
“No, I usually stick with my name, but I thought under the circumstances, it might be reassuring,” he said.
“But wouldn’t a serial killer also say he wasn’t one?” Grace countered.
“Yeah, I guess he would. I’m still not one,” he said.
“What did you mean, under the circumstances? It’s not like they’re making us bunk together at the airport hotel. Oh my God, they’re not, are they?” Grace said. There was cutting corners and there was a complaint to the Better Business Bureau begging to be made.
“No, but it’s a shitty hotel,” he said.
“I figured,” she said.
“I have a proposition for you and feel free to turn me down,” he said. She waited. They were in a public place and for whatever reason, her entire limbic system was pretty chill around him. Still, the word “proposition” was fraught.
“Okay, I’m listening.”
“I say we cash in the vouchers and spend the money and the night in the airport’s VIP lounge. The armchairs there will be more comfortable than the hotel’s beds and we’ll get a better dinner and booze,” he said. “They’ll have Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Dom Pérignon.”
“I’ve never been in the VIP lounge. Any VIP lounge,” Grace said. She’d been prepared for him to offer to split a rental car and road trip to Austin, which would have been a hard pass, because limbic system or not, she wasn’t risking her life to get back to work a few hours sooner. Austin wasn’t home, it was where she was living during what seemed like her endless training, though her own bed and access to full-size toiletries had an undeniable allure at this point.
“I racked up frequent flyer miles when I was working for a big builder, going to conferences, before I started my own business as a GC,” he said. “I’ve missed my share of flights. My little girl’s going to be upset if I’m not back home tomorrow.”
“What’s her name?”
“Sarah. Sarah Renée. She’s two, stubborn as hell and twice as pretty,” he said, his voice warm, the affection and pride obvious. “My brother’s watching her, which means she’s eatin’ nothing but chicken nuggets and those strawberry yogurt squeeze-pops the whole time.”
“I see why you need to get back. I’m Grace. I bet the VIP lounge can do better than yogurt and super-processed chicken,” she said. “I work at a hospital, I’m used to scavenging whatever the pharma reps bring for lunch.”
“Yeah, they can,” he said, passing up the chance to assume she was a nurse, ask her if she were a doctor, or start to regale her with some medical mystery that only a stranger stranded at an airport could explain. “Whatever they call Mexican will be awful, but the rest should be above average.”
He was right. Grace didn’t remember the next several hours in minute detail, but the food had been good and varied and the portions, which were supposed to be more like appetizers, were standard American-oversized. The drinks were equally good and the company was better. They’d both been careful not to share too much about themselves, but more than if they’d been seated next to each other on the plane. Or maybe less, because then they both would have expected never to see each other again after the few hours and the night stretched ahead of them. He’d made her laugh and she’d made him smile and while she was still a straight human woman with a healthy libido, the initial attraction she’d felt had receded. She’d liked him, the single dad who was determined to run his own business so he could prioritize his daughter, who shrugged when it came to his ex and didn’t take the obvious opportunity to trash her, who made sure to get Grace multiple glasses of club soda to go with her bourbon sidecars so she wouldn’t be hungover, who knew all the words to “Jolene” and sang along for a few bars, making Grace really wish she could see him play the guitar at the bar he mentioned gigging at when his brother would babysit Sarah. When she told him how much she disliked peanuts “I’m not allergic, I just can’t stand them,” he ate them all out of the dish of mixed nuts the bartender put in front of them. After eating and drinking far more lavishly on the airline’s dime than she ever would on her own, they’d retreated to a pair of overstuffed club chairs and they’d both dozed off for a couple of hours, until the lounge got lively again with business travelers taking the first flight out, an urn filled with Blue Mountain most heavily trafficked. Joel snagged her a mug while he muscled his way through to get one of his own. She probably wouldn’t ever drink another cup of coffee in her life to match it. When she opened her eyes after the first sip, he gave her a smile she knew she’d never forget.
She hadn’t. But he had and it was okay, it was totally okay, because so much had happened and he’d lost Sarah right away when the world ended, while she’d been working nearly non-stop on futile cases on the hospital and then deciding what care meant in the end-times was going to be based on her own take on bioethics, her access to prescription opiates, preferably morphine, and nothing else. He’d had Tess, she’d had Kian. They’d lost them both. They’d each traveled so far from that one night she couldn’t possibly hold it against him that he’d nodded at her and called her “Doc” when Maria introduced them. That as they grew closer, moving from friends to something more than that, companions, lovers, a family, he never squinted at her and said, Hang on, Gracie or I can’t help feeling like this isn’t the first time…
Maybe she wasn’t the only person he’d ever hung out with in an airport VIP lounge after a cancelled flight. She wasn’t about to inquire and it wasn’t likely to come up in casual conversation.
“None for Grace. She hates ‘em,” he said, waving away Ted’s offer of boiled peanuts from the can he’d bartered a three dried-apple and plum hand pies for. Grace wasn’t sure what it meant—she might have said something more recently about not eating peanuts or Joel might remember after all, either the moment at the bar or the whole night. Maybe he thought she didn’t remember him, their hours-long conversation, waking up in the syrupy gold sunlight that came through the viewing windows of the lounge.
Maybe in another dozen years, she’d ask.
Written for @pedrostories 1K celebration, the bourbon sidecar is for @tessa-quayle!
Prompts used: AU, platonic, forced proximity with allusions to time travel, roadtrip, and only one bed (if you squint, basically)

Cabin Treatment: How to Protect your Log Cabin
At Log cabin kits, We are currently using Barrattine Wood Preserver to treat the external surfaces of the log cabins. We have been impressed with its properties not least the fact that it is oil based and has a number of colour options, including clear. As per the manufacturer’s instructions we recommend a minimum of two coats, ideally three, to ensure an adequate level of protection.
The colour swatches are an indication only and representative of the product applied to clean new/pale timber. The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated. We always recommend carrying out a test area first in an inconspicuous area to make sure you are happy with the final dried colour.
Manufacturers Information
A high-quality, low odour oil/Spirit wood preservative which is deep penetrating. Barrettine wood preserver is used for wood protection against wood destroying fungi (wet rot), wood discolouring fungi and wood boring insects. Provides a semi-transparent matt/satin finish allowing the natural wood texture to be visible. Can be used on pressure treated wood, treated timber or untreated wood. Suitable for rough, sawn or smooth timber, does not require over sealing for wood protection.
No subsequent top coat product required unless for aesthetic purposes. For outdoor use and also for use on windows/frames, external doors/frames (internal and external sections). The Barrettine clear wood preserver can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists.
Application Can be sprayed using an airless sprayer such as a Wagner or Graco ideally using a minimum 1mm flat fan tip nozzle (9 - 11 thou tip). The sprayer must be thoroughly cleaned after application with white spirit and then oiled to protect the tip and moving parts (as per manufacturer's instructions). This product cannot be sprayed with a traditional pump action garden sprayer.
Ensure wood to be treated is dry, free from dirt and repellent coatings such as paint or varnish. (remove and sand down as required)
Recommend using a biocidal wash such as Barrettine Knockout Mould and Mildew prior to treatment
The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type and condition of the timber being treated. We always recommend carrying out a test area first in an inconspicuous area to make sure you are happy with the final dried colour

I am not making any phone calls today.
Hopefully I will receive one from the water damage place (I might call another one of their offices that is nearby enough to ask them wtf is going on at the correct office and why has no one answered the phones in like 3 days or responded to the email or voicemail messages I’ve left.
Feels very karenesque to do that.
I might look for other people to hire, but I’m not calling today.
-
Might work on putting up next round of pony listings. Might not.
-
Might play Minecraft and rest after mowing yesterday. Might not. That Guy’s turned it into Son and I work for him. Again.
We don’t get to play for the fun of it, it has to benefit That Guy in some way. It’s becoming chores. He makes EVERYTHING a chore. Very unfun.
Might play 7Days, might not.

Looking at things like mail order tiny houses and house kits and stuff.
Since My Favorite SadDad is still looking to buy the farm property and cutting some trees down to make room for crops (though he has let go of the idea of keeping livestock for now) I suggested both replanting the trees in another section of the land because he was sad about the thought of cutting them down but needs to for the best flat land for farming, and finding a local Amish community and hiring them to turn some of the resulting logs into a legitimate log cabin for him since I think the house is going to need torn down and he said he was going to live in the van (my love, no). Probably best type of contractor to look at the established log barn for safety etc., too. Hell, maybe also for the farmhouse tear down.
I’m not too pleased with the way that community is run in general, no I will not elaborate, but they are a great source of knowledge and experience regarding natural-material, sustainable, long-lasting, and local climate-appropriate homes.

How would the slashers(jason, Michael and any other stabby bois you want to add) react to their s/o wanting to take care of their wounds?
A/N: Hoo boy my first slasher request! Sorry for taking a bit to write this out- I think I went a tiny bit overboard with the prompt given (’ v ‘;) I hope this is to your liking!
I sadly cannot include any other stabby bois in this because it was already long enough with just these two hhh
(Minor Violence/Blood mention; Read more placed due to lengthiness)
Jason:
When you first approached him with the large, clunky medkit thumping against your side, Jason had let out a confused grunt, and he tilted his head; curious pale eyes watching you.
“Is it okay if I help you?” you asked in a slightly shaky tone, pointing towards the steadily growing red stains on his shirt.
In return, Jason let out another deep grunt.
Ever since Jason had taken to avenging his mother-first as a man and eventually a water-logged corpse- violence and bloodshed had become his day-to-day norm; most of said violence done by his own hands. With that said, having victims that fight back was to be expected.
It wasn’t always something that was considered particularly life-threatening to him, especially now in his undead state, but it always was enough to have him feeling mentally exhausted and in a bit of a sour mood afterwards.
As time went on Jason stuck to mostly just waiting out the pain as his go-to treatment; his body eventually mended itself after a while- so it’s not like he particularly felt that he needed any medical help
Still, his mother raised him to have manners, and since you’re offering to help him so kindly, he eventually relents and settles down on the couch of your cabin while you prepare to stitch him up; though he did feel it was a tad bit silly considering it was near impossible to hurt him.
The initial confusion eventually fades as he faintly feels your hands gently poke and prod cold skin, and Jason’s shoulders slowly relax as the tiny threads of warmth from your hands settle into his bones.
How long had it been since he’s been treated to a gentle touch? Jason couldn’t help but wonder as warm hands left him to search in the kit next to you.
It had to be a long, long time, he was certain. Memories of his mother’s slightly worn- she always did have a tired look to her- but happy smile as she came home from work began to slowly surface the longer he dwelled on it.
Though he didn’t feel any tears form, it was enough to make his chest ache.
So as you were done securing the tape, you move to put everything away. A large hand gently stops you from getting up, and you find yourself pulled into an embrace.
You let out a startled yip at first- not expecting the sudden move- and freeze for a moment, and you tentatively return Jason’s hug. Though the movements were very faint, you think you see your boyfriend’s shoulders tremble.
“You okay, big guy? It’s probably not the best work but-“
He’d interrupt you mid-sentence, shaking his head whilst still holding onto you. That was the last thing on his mind right now.
Though him getting hurt was the last thing you would want, Jason wouldn’t mind the injuries if it meant he can feel your touch again.
Michael Myers:
You were startled awake when the back door creaked open, and you were quickly met with Michael’s disheveled form in the moonlight; his clothes caked in blood and his breathing haggard. The floorboards beneath you creak, and Michael’s head quickly whipped towards you.
“Jesus, Michael! Are you okay? Sit down- wait, actually, hold still. I don’t want you bleeding all over the place.”
As to be expected, you were met with silence from the taller man, and you felt his stare burrow itself in the back of your head as you left to scour the house for bandages.
On a surface level, Michael behaves the way he normally does: silent, unmoving, watchful. However, he doesn’t seem to show outright objection to any help, you think.
Below the silent exterior, however, is a whole other matter.
Medical treatment isn’t anything new to him- he’s spent nearly all of his life behind the walls of Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, after all. But the bedside manners of staff were less than desirable, to put it lightly.
Ever since the age of six, Michael was usually kept drugged up on a worrying-amount of whatever medication Dr. Loomis had prescribed that week. Most of which were usually forcefully fed to him after he refused to take them.
A lot of his interactions with the nurses were kept brief, as most of them either acted as if he was some wild animal that was ready to lash at any given moment, or have given up on the idea of bonding and simply treated him with cold aloofness.
Needless to say, Michael’s experiences with anyone trying to “care” for him weren’t the best.
Just before you could approach him, he silently shoves past you- the still fresh blood smearing against your bare arm- and doesn’t stop until he’s shut himself away.
Don’t bother going after him. No matter how much you knock and plead at his door, he’s not going to answer.
If you truly do want to get close enough to patch him up, you’ll have to catch him after a particularly rough night, where he’s too tired and in too much pain to really slip away.
You’ll have to approach him slowly- because while your boyfriend recognizes you’re no real threat to him, Michael isn’t comfortable with anyone getting too close to him.
“Michael. Please, you need to let me help you,” you said in the most pained and worried voice he’s ever heard you use.
He’s silent a few moments, form still and skin cool. You would’ve thought he was dead if you didn’t see the slow, uneven rising of his chest. With a nervous inhale, you take a step forward; Michael doesn’t move to leave. He’s letting you near him.
The entire time you work on him, Michael is stiff as a board; he’s not quite there in the moment, every sound muffled and distant. However, Michael can register your muttering as you cleaned him up.
“How did you manage to walk your way home like this?”; “Shit, sorry, Mike. This one might sting a little bit.”; “Easy, Easy, Good.”; etc.
It was strange. It wasn’t anything like he had with the nurses back at the sanitarium. Your movements were more… tender. Like he was made of glass; as if the man before you wasn’t capable of snapping your neck at any given moment.
As you’re washing the blood off your hands, Michael silently makes his way upstairs- leaving you alone for the rest of the night.
The next morning, you don’t see a trace of your boyfriend anywhere in sight, save for the bloody boot prints from last night. Just as you were growing worried, you find a candy bar on the kitchen table- just left of where Michael sat the other night.
The wrapper is crumpled, and it looks like the chocolate is a bit melted. You don’t remember ever buying it. Michael must have left it for you.
It wasn’t much, but it was enough to make a smile form on your face.
Though this probably won’t be a common thing anytime soon, Michael finds himself feeling more comfortable around you.

Tanlin’s face fell. In a sad soft voice she said, “Oi knew t’at ye’d ask. Oi’ll give ye t’e facts t’at Oi know. Ye willnae like w’at Oi’m about t’ tell ye. Ot least a few ot’ers will tell parts o’ ‘t as well. Ye’ll ‘ave t’ decide i’ ye’ve been told true.” Dragons forgive m’. Oi’ll tell ‘er nae lie but Oi must save m’ Barad at any cost! She began, carefully editing Barad’s early involvement in the plot.
“T’ere wa’ a plot t’ kill ye. T’was hatched only a few doors down t’e passage in Mister Morgu’s cabin. ‘E wa’ our Purser an’ ‘e ‘ates t’e Longin. T’was ‘e t’at persuaded Barad t’ buy t’e Ord …”
She went on, fearful of the effect that her account was having on Kurin. So much depended on the goodwill of this child. No, not really a child, just young. Before the fleet she was legally an adult because of her skills accomplishments.
There was good reason for her fear. Kurin heard of the apparent cold blooded murder of Chena and possibly Merk with horror and pity. She did not want to face this. She wanted to run and hide, curled around her knotted stomach. Only her need to know the truth kept her in the same cabin with this story.
Tanlin’s control broke down when she got to Silor’s part. She turned in her chair and gestured at the cabin door, her voice catching as she said, “Ot t’e Gat’ering, only a day before ye were poisoned, Oi met Silor just ootside t’is door. ‘E wa’ runnin’ an errand for Mister Morgu. T’was ‘im t’at took t’e kit.”
She hid her face and her voice was muffled and she wept as she said, “A moment earlier! Just a moment earlier an’ Oi’d ‘ave caught ‘im in our cabin! Nae bit o’ t’is wad ‘ave ‘appened i’ Oi’d been a moment earlier!”
Kurin, remembering the ghastly accusations of her own mother as she sank into madness, could well guess the kind of guilt feelings that Tanlin was experiencing. The screaming shade of her mother accusing her of murdering her father still haunted her dreams. She leaned forward, reaching through her own revulsion at the unfolding tale, and laid a comforting hand on Tanlin’s arm. The contact helped Tanlin to get a grip on herself. She looked thankfully at Kurin and went on.
Kurin heard the events at the Gathering and after. Even though she had already heard that the Fauline had been rammed, she got the tale again. This time it included what had happened aboard the Fauline as well as the rest of the events. She heard, for the first time, how the Grandalor had got north undetected by riding in the eye of the Coriolis storm.
Kurin sat, stunned by the tale. Shakily she asked, “That’s it? No dodge? No it was an accident or a prank gone awry? Just, somebody really tried to kill me, not even because they hated me? Just to hurt my ship?”
Tanlin sat slumped in her chair, looking ill. We’ve lost. She’ll nae help us now, she thought. She responded dully, “In Mister Morgu’s case, Aye. In Silor’s case, nae. ‘E ‘ates ye an’ blames all o’ ‘is ill fortune an’ failings on ye. Oi t’ink, from talking wit’ ‘im, t’at ‘e’s mad, at least w’ere ye are concerned.
“Bot’ ‘e an’ Mister Morgu ‘ave been confined since we caught t’em. Nane ‘as spoken t’ t’em since, except for m’sel’. I talked t’ each o’ t’em separately t’ get t’e facts t’at Oi ‘ad t’ tell ye.”
Kurin curled up into a ball in her chair and sat, eyes closed, stomach knotted. Tanlin looked despairingly across at Kurin. She felt both guilt and sorrow that she’d caused such pain in one so young. Tanlin crossed the space between them and knelt where she could gather the hurting Kurin into her arms.
Kurin, startled, looked at her face. Gray eyes in pain met gray eyes in despair. Kurin uncurled enough to wrap an arm about Tanlin as well. For a few minutes they just sat and comforted each other.
Kurin broke the hug first and retreated to her chair, curled about her pain. She looked at Tanlin, and tilted her head regarding the woman shrewdly. Almost dismissively she said, “This is just pain. It was hard to hear, that’s all. I half expected something like that story. I came here because of those Great Law violations. Running off because something’s difficult isn’t my way.
“Is there anything else that I should know about?”
“T’ere’s a matter t’at ye should know from m’,” said Tanlin, eager to change the subject, hope flaring. “T’e counterfeit scrip t’at ‘as plagued yer last few Gat’erings originated on t’is ship. Barad an’ Mister Morgu conspired toget’er on t’at. T’ere are many ‘oo were guilty o’ ‘elping t’ make or pass ‘t.”
“I see,” said Kurin. She wrapped white hair about several fingers as she thought. Concentration helped her to ignore the pain knotting her stomach. She remembered some things that both Alor and Captain Mord had complained of and got an impish grin. “I think that I have an idea about how to deal with that little problem.”
She turned serious again and said grimly, “There’s another problem that might not be so easy, though. The Grandalor has an ominous reputation. There are up to several hundred disappearances, perhaps murders. Somehow they will have to be dealt with.”
This time it was Tanlin who grinned. She raised her left index finger and chuckled around the stone of fear in her heart, “T’ey never ‘appened. Nae even ane.”
“Then what did happen to all those people?” asked Kurin skeptically.
Tanlin snorted in amusement and replied, “Indentures. Barad brokered t’eir indenture sales in t’e Arraken fleet. T’e ‘ule ship kept t’e secret as a groit joke on t’e Naral fleet. T’ere were nae mysterious disappearances. Tis all in t’e Log an’ accounts.”
Angrily, Kurin started to say, “That’s a violation of the First Great Law! The sale of indentures is slavery!”
Tanlin held up a hand to stem the clearly expected outburst from Kurin. Calmly she explained, “Oi know t’e views o’ t’e Naral fleet on t’e matter. As indenture’s practiced in t’e Arrakan fleet tis nae slavery nae does ‘t violate t’e Forst Groit Law. Tis t’e ‘art o’ t’e Arrakan system o’ education. Yer apprenticeship system comes closer t’ slavery t’an our indenture system.”
Kurin leaned forward curiously, listening carefully as Tanlin went on, “Barad discovered ‘ow our education system worked. ‘E made yer castoffs int’ students t’at our fleet paid ‘igh prices for. Wen t’e Princamorn wa’ wrecked, we were on our way t’ meet Barad an’ pick up t’e latest crop o’ indentures.”
“Ye ‘ad t’ know about t’e indenture sales. T’ey’re sure t’ try t’ attack us wit’ t’em. T’e sales were legal in our fleet an’ dune in our territory. T’e T’ird Groit Law’s all t’e defense m’ Barad needs.”
Tanlin regarded Kurin soberly for a few moments. She’s so small. Can she truly save us? Barad trusts ‘er an’ t’ere’s few enow ‘e does. She said quietly, “T’e Grandalor’s books, Logs an’ all else wit’ nut’in’ an’ nane ‘eld bock, is open t’ ye. Ask anyt’ing. I’ we know t’e answer, tis yers. Oi’ve ordered t’at t’ere’s t’ be nut’in’ ‘idden from ye.”
Earnestly, Tanlin requested, “Study t’e case forst, t’en answer ane quest’n. Will ye please put our case before t’e Naral fleet?”
When Kurin did not answer immediately, Tanlin added, a little bitterly, “We’ve little ot’er ‘ope o’ gettin’ justice. Remember, nae even ye quest’ned t’e violations o’ law, bot’ Groit an’ fleet, t’at were dune t’ us. Ye ‘ave t’eir respect an’ ye were t’e victim o’ t’e assault. T’ey’ll listen t’ ye.”
Kurin thought I’ve never refused a challenge before. I wonder what Cat would say about me defending Barad? Still, it’s the biggest responsibility I’ve ever faced. She shuddered a little as she pondered, Lenai and Darkistry are wounded and in sickbay. Macoul is dead. Just to get me here. I can’t let them down.
Tanlin saw Kurin’s small shudder and feared the worst.
Clearly and firmly Kurin said, “I’ve already made up my mind. I don’t need to think it through any further.”
Tanlin’s face fell, sure that she had lost. Ship, love, friends and all would die. Despair provided the darkness that the unsetting arctic sun in the ports could not. Determination settled over her features. Ice like the pack not far north wrapped her heart. She would have to save her folk — — if she could. She knew too well, from Barad’s books, the deadly skills of those directing the hunt to the south of them.
She heard her own voice as if it were through a bulkhead, remote from what she was saying, “Oi promised ye safe conduct. Oi’m sorry t’at we took ye so far for naught. We’ll feed ye an’ let ye rest. Tomorrow we’ll return ye t’ t’e Longin.
“We’ll nae be Scattered an’ executed by Council orders. We’ll try t’ break-oot for t’e Arrakan fleet. T’ey’ll give us a fair trial wen t’ey ‘ear o’ the Groit Law violations. We’ll die fightin’ i’ we cannae escape.
“Oi ‘ope t’at we dinnae have t’ sink any ships doin’ ‘t.”
Appalled, Kurin exclaimed, “No! I meant that I will be your advocate! I do have to study the case but not to make up my mind. You were wronged. I don’t know if I can save your crew but I have to try.”
Tanlin’s hardness turned to joy in an instant. “Oi know t’at ye’ll do yer best an’ t’at yer best’s very good indeed.”

Tension
Pairing: Royai
Rating: K+
Summary: Through Fuhrer Grumman’s mischievous plotting, Roy and Riza find themselves in yet another dicey situation, where the tension between them becomes to hard to ignore.
A/N: I don’t think a story idea has come to me as quickly as this one did. Oneshot for now, even though I could honestly do a whole full length from this idea, but I know that I have no time for that lol. Here’s a little bit of cliche, stuck alone in the woods, rising amount of UST royai for your Saturday night!
-----
“I’m going to murder the fuhrer.”
“You of all people should know how treasonous of a statement that is, sir.”
“Yeah, and like last time, I don’t really give a damn.”
Riza Hawkeye could barely contain the roll of her eyes at her superior’s words. As usual, he was taking a small situation and making it more dramatic than it needed to be. She was annoyed with Fuhrer Grumman too, but certainly not enough to turn Amestrian traitor...for the second time.
Colonel Mustang leaned into his subordinate a touch more than was strictly necessary as the sight of their lone cabin in the woods came into view. His arm was flung across her shoulders while his other hand was held to his right side, attempting to stop the steady stream of blood from further ruining his shirt.
A “team building exercise” was what the mischievous fuhrer had called it when he summoned the bulk of Mustang’s team into his office in Central last week. The group was thoroughly immersed in preparations for their move to East City (and their superior’s subsequent promotion to Brigadier) and had not been expecting such a large change of plans. Fuhrer Grumman had specifically arranged for their group to spend a week buried in the middle of a forest outside Central with only a secluded log cabin to call home. They were instructed to complete certain exercises and tasks each day, with the hopes of strengthening their bonds even more so than they already had.
But Mustang knew what this was really all about. Grumman was never without some kind of ulterior motive, and while the disgruntled colonel could only guess at what it was this time around, he would not fall so easily into his boss’s trap.
They were in the middle of some odd version of capture the flag when this particular accident happened. Mustang was honestly embarrassed to admit it at all. It certainly wasn’t his most graceful moment. He could’ve easily brushed the whole thing aside if it weren’t for the bleeding wound in his side. He hadn’t seen the sudden drop before him, too busy muttering angrily to himself about the stupidity of whatever game they were forced to play. When his foot stepped on nothing but air, the veteran colonel had been sent tumbling. Again, he could’ve brushed it aside with nothing more than minor cuts and bruises, but a sharp rock sticking up out of the ground had sliced a nasty gash across his abdomen on his way down. Needless to say, when he’d gotten up wincing and cursing only to find his shirt soaked in blood, his lieutenant (the only one with him, as they had made their own team together) went into a tizzy.
She led him back to the cabin while he plotted his murder of their fuhrer the whole time. Both colonel and lieutenant were relieved to finally see their home base come in to view.
Riza opened the door to the small, quaint building and practically deposited her superior on the couch in the living room. She went off to find supplies to clean and dress the wound, all the while Roy tentatively attempted to get comfortable from where he sat. His eyes looked down at his red soaked shirt and he sighed. Weeks away from brigadier-general and a rock is what took him down.
Hawkeye came back with some towels in hand and sat herself on the coffee table in front of the couch. Even though they were as secluded as they could possibly be, the log cabin Grumman had arranged for them was actually quite nice. It had a spacious living room and kitchen area, with a back bedroom full of bunk beds for the team to sleep on. Havoc and Fuery had gone on and on about how cool it was for them to be doing something like this, while the rest of the team had their own opinions on their situation. Mustang was the only one who actually voiced them, of course.
Mustang’s eyes turned to his lieutenant and he lifted an eyebrow as he watched her shake her head, before she dipped one of the small towels in a bowl of water she had procured out of nowhere. Without any warning she grabbed his blood-soaked hand and began washing it with a strange kind of precision. “Honestly sir...I would think by now you would know to look where you’re going.”
His face scrunched up in annoyance. “Hey...don’t pin this one all on me. If it weren’t for Grumman and his stupid ‘team building excercise’, we wouldn’t have even been out there in the first place.”
Riza tossed the now red-soaked towel to the side before she picked up another one. “Yes, I’m well aware of your feelings on the matter, Colonel. You were practically cursing the fuhrer on your way down the mountain.”
Mustang’s expression twisted further. “We need to come up with a better story to tell the rest of the team when they get back. I have a feeling if they knew the truth, they’d never let me hear the end of it.”
Possibly because they were alone, Riza let out an uncharacteristic smirk at that. “And what makes you so certain I won’t ever let you hear the end of it.”
Roy was in the process of coming up with a witty response to that when he immediately froze as his lieutenant’s hands went to the buttons of his shirt. Sure, he knew why she was doing it, but the way she started unbuttoning the ruined fabric without even realizing what she was doing had him instantly stilled.
Riza had gotten about halfway down when she stopped as well, almost as if she had suddenly realized how forward she was being. Her eyes widened before they lifted to meet her superior’s. It was silent a moment as the pair awkwardly stilled before the lieutenant managed to find her voice. “I-I...need to take a better look at it, sir. If that’s...alright with you.”
The uncertainty and breathlessness with which she spoke only served to rub the colonel the wrong way. Things had been..a bit tense between the two of them ever since they returned to work after the Promised Day. Roy knew that what they had gone through together that day, and in their time of recovery, was not what they were used to. Lots of things had been said, but even more things were left unaddressed. They were still able to find their work rhythm, but there were times like now where they just...stopped. When the feelings ruminating between them grew to be more overwhelming than either of them were prepared for.
Roy knew how to handle these situations, though. He had started to consider himself somewhat of an expert given how often they were happening recently. He had found the best way to keep them from being too serious was to revert back to his well-practiced personality. He let out a lazy smirk and replied, “At least offer to buy me a drink first.”
The lieutenant yanked the next button out with a little more force than was necessary as her eyes narrowed into slits. “Very funny, sir,” she replied in an annoyed voice before she continued down the row of buttons and pulled the two sides of his shirt apart and off his shoulders.
She leaned down to get a better look at the gash, wincing through her teeth at the sight of it. Her fingers gently probed around the edges before she dipped one of the towels in the water and wiped away the residual blood and debris.
The colonel tensed as she worked, the stinging sensation becoming too strong to ignore. Riza Hawkeye certainly was a gentle woman in some ways, but a pragmatic military officer in others. She worked quietly, yet a bit more aggressively than Roy would have liked.
He watched as her face contorted and she sighed. “It’s pretty deep, sir. I’m not an expert, but I think it needs at least a few stitches.”
The colonel let out a disapproving noise. “Where the hell am I supposed to get stitches? We’re miles away from the closest town, and the nearest hospital is three towns over from that.”
Riza clicked her tongue as she thought about this. She set her towel aside and stood to her feet. “I think I remember seeing a first aid kit under the sink when we got here. There might be supplies in there.” The lieutenant walked to the kitchenette in the corner of the room as Roy turned to look at her incredulously.
“And what if there is? Do you plan to do it yourself? Did you go and get a medical degree that I wasn’t aware of?”
Successfully finding the kit under the sink, Riza walked back over to the couch and began perusing its contents. “Oh, good, there is a suture kit in here,” she commented, ignoring his earlier question as she set it aside and began looking for more supplies in the kit.
“Lieutenant?” Mustang asked again, his voice unsure.
Surprising him, Riza let out a small smile. She pulled out a package of sterile gloves and a bandage wrap before answering him. “Suturing is a good survival skill to learn. It can come in handy on the battlefield.”
Mustang eyed her skeptically. “Right, because every soldier has the time to stop and stitch up his buddy in the heat of battle.”
Riza rolled her eyes at her superior before she flashed him a pointed look. “Colonel...do you want me to stitch this up or would you rather let it get infected and wind up in the hospital for weeks only to miss your promotion ceremony?”
Ah, that was his lieutenant, always knowing exactly what to say to shoot straight for his heart. He ignored her pointed look and attempted to seem put upon and indecisive. “Fine...just don’t mess it up too badly.”
She smiled at him again before she opened the kit up and slipped the gloves on. “I’ll try and make it look as pretty as possible, but I make no promises. Go ahead and lie down, sir.”
Mustang warily did as he was told, his voice becoming even more apprehensive. “Tell me, Dr. Hawkeye. Does that suture kit happen to come with any anesthetic?”
Riza’s smile only grew and the colonel bristled at the sight of it. “Alas, no, sir. Still, I think a big, strong man like yourself can handle a few pricks,” she spoke in a low tone as she grasped the edge of the suture with her scissors and readied herself to begin.
Everyone always thought Riza Hawkeye was passive and quiet, but Roy knew she could be downright evil when she wanted to be. Apprehensively staying quiet, the colonel attempted to relax as she started.
He couldn’t contain the winces and the sharp intakes of breath as his subordinate quite literally sewed his skin back together. He was rather surprised at how sure of herself she seemed to be. She had so many random skills that she would showcase whenever she pleased, and this was definitely one of them. Attempting to get his mind off the pain, Roy asked, “So, where the hell did you learn to do this? I certainly don’t remember taking a suture class at the academy.”
She continued to work diligently, but Riza still managed to answer him in a self-assured tone. “A friend of mine at the academy was a nurse before she joined the military. We were on a training exercise when one of our teammates got injured and she had to do this out in the field. Once we were done, she taught us all how to do it. I’ve never really used it until now.”
Roy scoffed. “That’s reassuring.”
“You’re fine, sir,” she spoke in a firm, though no less amused, voice.
They lapsed into silence after that, as Roy tried not to seem like too much of a wimp from the pain (this really hurt far more than it should) and Riza set herself to her task with the same precision and expertise that he was used to from her.
After what felt like an eternity, Riza used the cutting part of the scissors to snip the ends of the sutures and admired her work proudly. “There, you can relax now, sir. No impromptu hospital runs for you today.”
“Thank goodness,” he answered, only somewhat sarcastically, as his lieutenant cleaned up the wound and grabbed the bandage wrap.
“Sit up,” she instructed plainly, as she unwound the bandage and Roy tentatively arose. She leaned in close to him as her hands started to wind the wrap around his midsection. Again, the spark of tension flared up within the colonel as his lieutenant’s face was dangerously close to his own for the purpose of her task. She worked quietly, but the colonel couldn’t help but let his eyelids lower and his face lean in a touch more than was strictly professional.
She attached the end of the bandage, and admired her work proudly...before her eyes rose to meet his and immediately she froze in place.
The content smile dropped and her eyes widened slightly. Roy knew it was foolish of him to let himself do this...to look at her like she was the only woman in the world and he wanted nothing more than to treat her as such...in every possible sense. He knew these moments where they found themselves falling into roles they were not allowed to have were becoming more and more common. He could try and brush them all aside, which he frequently did, but they both knew what it meant.
The fact that they were alone in a secluded cabin in the middle of the woods while their teammates wouldn’t be back for hours had suddenly become far more dangerous.
Riza’s mouth dropped slightly and her breaths began to brush lightly across his face. Their lips were frighteningly close and their gazes became even more hazy. Riza’s eyes flashed briefly to Mustang’s lips and the small act nearly had him grabbing her and throwing her beneath him on the couch.
Despite the immense and innumerable consequences, Roy Mustang almost did as much before something snapped within his subordinate and she quickly stood to her feet, her eyes looking at anything but his own.
“You should get some rest, sir. The others will be back later and you know they’ll all want a full update.” In an effort to get her mind off whatever the hell just happened, Riza began furiously cleaning up and organizing the first aid supplies. Roy lifted an eyebrow when he noticed a slight tremor in her hands. He certainly wasn’t the only one as heavily affected by these little moments of theirs.
“R-right,” he let out breathlessly, attempting to bring his mind back from outer space. He tentatively stood to his feet and grabbed his ruined shirt. As Riza returned the kit to where she had found it and mindlessly started washing the measly amount of dishes in the sink, Mustang slowly made his way to the bedroom, his mind buzzing.
If this was how it was going to be between them from now on...he knew they were destined for a collision course.
Damn Grumman, Roy thought bitterly as he sat down heavily on his bunk. Secluded cabin in the middle of the woods so me and his granddaughter can sneak away together. He’s too smart for his own good.
After that little moment, Roy Mustang now knew exactly why Grumman had dragged them all out here. He hoped his teammates returned sooner rather than later. He’d even detail the entire embarrassing story of how he got this wound in his side if it meant he and his subordinate wouldn’t be caught within their own tension again.
Roy rubbed his temples. It was going to be a long week.

Written by Guest Contributor on The Prepper Journal.
Prepping can involve building things useful for survival or comfort during lean times. Here are the tools preppers should consider having to make the job easier.
Editor’s note: This prepping primer was written by guest contributor Brandon Smith.
Preppers are always ahead of the curve when it comes to being ready for any eventuality. If you don’t know all the basics around food, health and general survival preparedness for something like the recent COVID-19 outbreak then take a look through this guide.
Here, I’m going to take you through the best power tools for preppers.
Whenever we talk about having power tools, we usually mean hand power tools that are easy to use and get the job done. It’s important to have some manually powered tools to hand just in case the grid goes down, but power tools will make things easier.
Power tools can make life easier
Prepping is all about being prepared. If SHTF then there isn’t going to be any time to learn to build a log cabin in the woods and if the grid goes down, it will take you too long to build it using manual tools.
That’s why it makes sense to add a few power tools to your tool kit. Use them now to build any structures or defenses to help you through the tough times ahead.
The power tools that every prepper needs:
Cordless Drill
Circular Saw
Angle Grinder
Reciprocating Saw
Charger
Cordless Drill
This should be your first purchase if you don’t own any power tools. It’s versatile and can be used for jobs around the house like putting up shelves or fixing new cabinets. It will also be used for fence or gate repair and will be your go-to tool when boarding up windows.
The best type to buy is a hammer drill. It will do all the general jobs like acting as a screwdriver and drill holes in wood, plastic and metal, but it also works well on concrete and other harder surfaces.
It’s going to cost a little more than a standard drill/driver, but when you need to drill into masonry or other toughened material you’ll be glad you have it. Ensure it can handle 1,000lbs of torque, has a ratcheting chuck, has a side handle (to prevent kickback), and that you buy some masonry, Cobalt and titanium-coated drill bits.
Circular Saw
A circular saw is an important tool for a prepper to have. If you’re building any type of structure then this is what you will use to cut wood or metal. The decision over a cordless or powered one will depend on its use. If you’re building things and using it to prepare structures then a corded one is more powerful.
But, having a corded power tool when the power goes out isn’t much use. I’d suggest buying a cordless one with a larger battery by a professional brand.
Angle Grinder
This is a powerful tool that has several functions. It can be used to grind and shape different material like stone, metal and concrete as long as the right blade is attached.
If you need to remove paint or rust from surfaces then this is the tool. They come in different sizes, so choosing the right size is important. Most preppers will find one that is 4 ½ inches suitable for most jobs.
Some attachments to purchasing are discs (different types for different materials), diamond-tipped discs (for granite and asphalt), sanding pads & discs (removing and finishing), and cut-off discs (similar to a Dremel but much more powerful).
Reciprocating Saw
This piece of kit, alongside a cordless drill, should be on every prepper’s “I have to buy this tomorrow” list. It’s versatile and if you select the right blade you can cut through almost any material.
You can cut wood, prune branches and bushes, and easily cut through thick wood and metal. This is the tool you see firefighters use when they remove car roofs to free a victim in a crash.
When you buy this piece of kit, get an assortment of blades too. You will then be able to cut through different types of material. Keep in mind that the blades won’t last forever, so having a stock of some regular ones you use is advisable.
Charger
Lots of manufacturers sell chargers that can plug into the 12-volt power port in your car or van. This works in a similar way to charging the tools when you plug them into the wall. It ensures you can charge your equipment should the power go out and expands your ability to keep the batteries charged.
Most of them have indicator lights to show you when the battery charge is full, and many have a sensor to shut off the charger when your vehicle’s battery level gets to a certain point.
Manual Tools
There are lots of manual tools that come in handy too. If you want some of the most popular ones to add to your tool shed then this tool kit page gives some great ideas.
Conclusion
Having some power tools as a prepper will allow you to be self-reliant and build any structure you feel is necessary. Small jobs can be completed around the home and if things head downwards you can be confident you have the right tools for any eventuality.

Choose Best Log Cabin for Your Garden
When you require more space in your home, a perfect log cabin is an appealing and practical solution. Log cabins are suitable for use as a home office, a gymnasium, to house Jacuzzis & saunas, or as a kid's playhouse.
Your budget will determine the size and design of your log cabin. Using a log building kit and assembling the Garden Cabins Uk manually is one method to stretch your budget. Some log cabin kits include detailed construction instructions, and with the help of family and friends armed with instruments such as a hammer, drilling, spirit level, & screwdriver, it could be a gratifying and challenging experience for all.
Although, for some people, the mere prospect of constructing Log Cabins For Sale UK is sufficient to offer them a headache; therefore, the next best alternative is to hire aid from your log cabin kit provider or from local professionals.
When you've determined your budget, the following step is to decide the type of log home kit to buy. You should know that Log Cabins For The Garden are available in a variety of packages: some are handcrafted and created from entire logs, while others are constructed from kiln-dried logs which have been factory milled. Check the quantity and quality of wood in the log cabin kit: when your log cabin will be used all year, you would need thicker logs than if it will just be used in the summertime.
Timber Log Cabins typical materials include cut logs for a particular log building plan. Every log has a specific place in the cabin's wall, with window and door apertures already carved into the right wood. Most of the log cabin kit providers provide extra components such as cladding, insulate, screws, side panels, glass panels and windows, door frames & doors, metal brackets, anchor screws, nuts & washes, studding, roofing, and flooring. Structures, cabling, plumbing, hvac, roof tiles, & guttering are not included. Although Log Cabin For Garden Office provider structures their kit differently, comparing costs amongst companies is tough unless you can undertake an item-by-item assessment of the components of the different log cabin kits.
To carefully assure a long-lasting placement, a well-prepared level base the very same size as the log cabin flooring will be necessary before the Garden Office kit is completed. A strong basis can be made from a variety of materials, such as concrete or paving slabs placed on hardcore, and it must be 20-50mm above floor level. Building codes must be followed, for instance, at the time your log cabin is to be built near a property line. Most log cabins require careful clearance, which your log cabin kit provider may be able to offer. When you have any doubts, it is preferable to consult your local planning department before beginning construction.
Although assembling log cabin kits takes time, the completed product will be one that you and your family would enjoy and cherish for several years to come.

Best Outdoor Dog Houses
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51UuiyCnQXL.jpg Every dog I’ve ever lived with has been an indoor dog.
I slept on the couch with them, shared ice cream cones with them, and cuddled together during my favorite TV shows.
I wasn’t introduced to the idea of an outdoor dog until I was in middle school.
One of my friends had a dog that lived mainly outside in their backyard. He had his own giant water bowl and cute little dog house.
His dog house had the classic dog house look.
It was made of wood and painted red, although it didn’t have his name over the door or anything.
It left me wondering what kinds of dog houses are out there for dogs to try.
Here’s everything I’ve learned and which ones could be the best for your pup.
Best Dog Houses
There are different reasons why dog owners may look into an outdoor dog house, so here are the best options that I’ve found for the most common reasons that lead people to buy a dog house.

Our Pets Tuff-N-Rugged Dog House
The Tuff-N-Rugged dog house is one that’ll please any dog.
It has the picturesque dog house shape without compromising on the materials it’s made out of.
Overview
This dog house keeps dogs cool in the summer and warm in the winter, since it’s constructed out of weather-proof materials.
Special insulation makes it great for any dog who spends time outside when the weather turns cold.
What I Liked
A special feature I appreciate is how it’s built. This dog house is double walled for extra support and insulation.
It also has fade resistant paint, so constant exposure to UV won’t make it look dingy right after you set it up.
Cleaning with this dog house is a breeze too. You can easily hose it out and let it air dry. There’s no risk of mold or deterioration if it’s wet for a long period of time.
Don’t worry about your dog’s size either. It can fit dogs up to 125 pounds, which covers most standard breeds.
One concern I’d have if Maggie used a dog house would be the house getting flooded during heavy rainstorms, but this dog house is raised to prevent rain runoff from becoming an issue and to better insulate the dog from the cold ground.
What I Didn’t Like
The individual walls are thin plastic.
Heavy chewers can damage this dog house and heavy winds can move it around.
It’s also not a good choice if you have a heavier dog who likes to lay on top of their dog house because this can cause the roof to cave in.
Final Thoughts
The Tuff-N-Rugged dog house is definitely an investment, but it’s well worth every penny.
Plenty of thought and care went into the design and production to make this a long lasting product. The careful attention to detail is what makes this dog house the overall winner for me.
No dog living in this house will be left wanting.

Suncast Outdoor Dog House DH250
Most dog owners would agree that we want to provide only the best for our dogs, but unfortunately sometimes we’re restricted by a tight budget.
That’s where the Suncast Outdoor Dog House, model DH250, comes into play.
It averages around the same price as other dog houses but it still provides some key features that will make you want to click “Add to Cart.”
Overview
First of all, it looks like one of those mini houses kids can play with when they’re little.
I used to have one in my backyard, complete with the plastic kitchen inside it and windows that opened.
This dog house looks very similar, although its windows don’t open.
Still, it has a vinyl door cover.
Dogs can easily come and go through this door cover, but still be protected when they go inside during rainstorms.
And if you’re concerned about ventilation, don’t worry. There are plenty of built-in vents to make sure there’s always fresh air available.
What I Liked
It can also be put together without tools!
I have a mini tool kit in my closet that has a dusty hammer and a screwdriver, so not having to buy extra supplies to build this dog house would be a huge bonus for me.
What I Didn’t Like
One thing to note is that it’s not insulated.
It’s meant only to house dogs when the weather is nice, so dogs who spend time outside in the winter will need a heat lamp and some additional insulation.
Final Thoughts
The Suncast Outdoor Dog House may not be the best outdoor dog house on the market but it provides a lot of bark for your buck.

Arf Frame Dog House
The Arf Frame Dog House is too adorable to handle. It’s a little log cabin for dogs to hang out in, complete with raised framing.
Overview
This dog house is made out of fir wood, so it’s lightweight and easy to handle while assembling.
Fir wood is also naturally weather resistant.
It’ll last a lot longer than typical wood frame dog houses, especially since it has a sheet-lined inner roof.
The fir wood makes it cost a bit more than plastic dog houses, but it’s an investment that’s worth your money.
What I Liked
Some small dogs also prefer a tighter den.
It makes them feel safer, which is something the Arf Frame can provide. It’s tiny and cozy, perfect for curling up in after a long day of being a dog.
Did I mention that it comes in different colors and can even be painted if you want to decorate your dog’s future home?
Literally the definition of adorable!
What I Didn’t Like
Be careful if you decide to order this house, since it’s meant to be a tight fit and could end up being the wrong size if you don’t compare measurements first.
Anyone interested in this dog house should also know that it isn’t an insulated house.
You’ll need to add your own insulation if your dog will be using this during the winter.
Final Thoughts
If Maggie was a small dog, I’d consider getting her an Arf Frame dog house as soon as we upgrade to a human home with a backyard.

Petmate Indigo Dog House
I could totally see Maggie hanging out in the Petmate’s Indigo Dog House.
Overview
It’s made with medium sized dogs in mind, so it has plenty of room for them to stretch out and sit up comfortably.
The offset door protects dogs from rain and wind once they’re inside the dog house.
There’s no need to squint around the structure and try to find the vents.
This dog house has roof ventilation that’s easy to check for clogs or damage. It circulates fresh air without letting in any rain or snow.
Medium dogs are also known to track in dirt and mud. Maggie’s basically a sponge in dog form whenever there’s even the slightest bit of rain.
It’s inevitable that your dog will make their dog house dirty, which is why this dog house has microban antimicrobial product protection on all surfaces.
What I Liked
Bacteria stand no chance in this dog house, even if you can’t get out to clean it every few days.
It’s also made with heavy-duty construction, which provides sufficient insulation for both hot and cold days.
What I Didn’t Like
The opening can be a little bit small, so be sure to pay attention to the sizing.
You might want to size up.
Also, rain can get into the entrance and flood the inside during heavy storms. You can fix this with a dog house door but those are available separately.
Final Thoughts
The Petmate Indigo dog house is a little pricey, but medium sized dog houses typically are.
If you have any extra money to spare when you purchase it or later on, you may want to add their specially made dog house pads for extra comfort, since this dog house is raised but still a hard plastic.

Suncast Outdoor Dog House DH350
Suncast is back with their outdoor dog house but with a better model for big dogs.
Overview
The Suncast model DH350 outdoor dog house has everything that makes a Suncast product so great.
It’s super cute, with its sky blue roof and beige walls, plus a nameplate over the door.
It also has a vinyl door that’s split down the middle, so large dogs can get in and out of the dog house with ease.
This door is especially important, since the extra large door frame would potentially let in more rain and debris without the vinyl door there.
It’s extra large for big dogs up to 75 pounds and looks great in backyards, patios and porches
What I Liked
Just like with their smaller dog houses, this dog house also snaps together without any tools.
Anything that saves me a trip to the hardware store is something I’m especially interested in.
There are vents on all sides of the dog house for extra help with air circulation.
It’s also slightly raised, so puddles that form during rainstorms won’t cause an issue to any dog hanging out inside.
What I Didn’t Like
Just like the smaller model, this bigger version lacks insulation.
It’s also constructed of lighter-weight plastic, so rambunctious dogs can disassemble it for you.
Final Thoughts
Larger dog houses often cost more money than ones for smaller dogs. The Suncast Outdoor Dog House for Large Dogs is a good large dog house for small dog money.

Best Dog House for Winter
ASL Solution’s Dog Palace
During the winter, some dogs enjoy continuing their outdoor lifestyle.
They shouldn’t have to be cooped up inside when they don’t want to, which is when dog owners should check out ASL Solution’s Dog Palace.
Overview
This massive dog house will keep any medium or large dog (up to 150 pounds) comfortable during cold temperatures.
It doesn’t play around with its insulation, which is two to four inches of real foam (styrofoam and expanded polystyrene [EPS] foam).
This foam retains heat in the winter and also keeps it cooler in the summer.
There’s also a self-closing door that works as a barrier against the cold. It’s also insulated and secures itself every time a dog passes in or out of the dog house.
The window panes on the door are what really help it stay functional during all seasons.
They can be repositioned from being completely closed in the winter to being open during the summer for better ventilation.
This is also useful for dogs who are being trained to use the dog house, since the open panes will encourage them to go in and out of it frequently.
Don’t worry about the floor being too cold either. It’s completely insulated and raised an incredible four inches off the ground so it’s always dry and warm.
When you need to clean it out, you can take advantage of the slightly sloped flooring. It leads down to a minor drain hole, which makes cleaning this dog house quick and easy.
You can get the Dog Palace as a kit with a fleece bed as well
What I Liked
This dog house is good for most of the year and can handle heavy winter storms.
All the features come together to make a dog palace, not a dog house.
What I Didn’t Like
A massive and well-made dog house like this won’t come at a cheap price, so prepare to save up for this purchase.
The door may also taken some getting used to by your dog.
But there are ways to help your dog get used to their new dog house.
Final Thoughts
Even if it takes a bit to save the money, ASL Solution’s Dog Palace won’t disappoint.
Your dog will be well insulated and protected during winter weather.

Best Dog House for Hot Weather

SENYEPETS Outdoor Dog House
When the weather gets hot in the summer, dog owners who let their dogs hang out in the backyard share a main concern.
There’s always the worry that your dog will be overheated in their dog house, no matter how windy or cloudy it may be.
That’s the concern that SENYEPETS had in mind when they created their outdoor dog house.
Overview
The SENYEPETS Dog House has optimal ventilation, so heat will never be trapped inside.
Standard dog houses may have a few vents on the sides of the dog house or even the roof, but SENYEPETS’ dog house has both side ventilation and skylights
The skylights lift up and can be held in place, so the wide plastic framing will welcome in any breeze.
The side ventilation is also considered heavy duty, without exchanging usefulness for how good it looks.
With the slide of a tiny lever, the side ventilation opens up and allows for continual air exchange. Sliding the lever back will close this ventilation for cooler days.
Another great feature is that this dog house is raised off the ground. Excess water will run right under it and not bother your dog a bit.
What I Liked
Not only is this dog house great for sunny days but it’s a good indoor house, too.
What I Didn’t Like
This dog house is light so it’s easy to move, which also makes it a little flimsy for bigger dogs.
This is really a dog house that’s best suited for small breeds.
You’ll also want to give your outdoor dog a different house when winter hits.
Final Thoughts
The SENYEPETS Outdoor Dog House is close to the average price of dog houses, though, so most dog families should be able to afford it during summer heat waves.

Best Dog House for Rainy Weather
Petsfit Outdoor Dog House
Rainy weather can feel like the end of any good dog house.
It can soak through the cheap dog houses, create an environment for mold to thrive and leak through the tiniest cracks.
It’s a battle that every dog house has to fight, which makes it even more difficult to find a good dog house when you live in an area that experiences frequent rain.
Petsfit is here for those dog owners who want their dog to be sheltered from the heaviest rainstorms with the Petsfit Outdoor Dog House.
Overview
Petsfit created this dog house that looks modern and fashionable while still being the best protection against rain.
It’s made of natural cedar wood, which would be concerning if it wasn’t painted over with water-based paint.
Water-based paint acts like non-toxic water sealant, causing rain to slide right off instead of soak into the wood.
Although, if you want more protection, you could also apply a water-proofing varnish to the outside of the dog house.
This dog house also utilizes an off-center door. Your dog can snuggle up off to the side and not worry about being hit by the falling rain.
Another measure of protection against rain is the door flap that comes with the dog house.
You can take it on and off as needed, but it’ll further protect your dog against rainstorms.
What I Liked
You’ll only need a basic screwdriver to put this dog house together, which isn’t what I expected at first.
Wooden dog houses make me picture working with a tool kit for an hour or two to assemble it, but it comes with all the screws and pre-drilled holes you’ll need.
Another concern some dog owners have about wooden dog houses is the cleaning. Once it’s all screwed together, you may feel like it’s impossible to clean well.
This dog house has a slanted roof that’s an added bonus for two reasons:
The first reason is that the roof can be propped and held up on its own so the interior of the dog house is completely exposed.
The second biggest benefit to this dog house is that the slanted roof encourages constant drainage. No amount of water will sit on the top of the dog house and soak through or damage it.
Oh, remember how this dog house is made from cedar?
Cedar resists mold and mildew[1], which is a concern in rainy areas.
What I Didn’t Like
Even the large size can only hold dogs up to 75 lbs. Weight, not height or length, is the sticking point thanks to the removable floor.
Also, this dog house is rather expensive.
Finally, some dogs are allergic to cedar. Keep an eye on your pooch for any signs of allergy or pain!
Final Thoughts
The Petsfit Outdoor Dog House isn’t as fancy looking as many dog houses but it’s very well built for keeping out the rain and for being easy to clean.
You can give any possible concerns a good month to work themselves out. Everyone who buys this dog house gets a full 30 day warranty which covers any damages or issues.

Best Wooden Dog House

Tangkula Dog House
Many dog owners look for a wooden dog house that will work seamlessly with the design of the backyard.
It’s all too easy to find a dog house that stands out like a sore thumb, but the Tangkula Dog House won’t.
Overview
This dog house is made of fir wood that has a natural reddish brown hue and is coated in a water-based, eco-friendly paint.
It blends in well with yards that have fertilized grasses, pinestraw, or mulch.
The roof also has a red and brown asphalt rain roof. The color works perfectly with the tint of the wood, and it protects any rain or snow from entering the dog house.
The dog house is also completely raised off the ground.
The bottom won’t be penetrated by moisture or cold, which guarantees a longer lifespan for the dog house.
What I Liked
I like how this dog house was made with eco-friendly materials and paint.
Also, the floor is removable for easy cleaning.
Plus, it’s an adorable looking dog house!
What I Didn’t Like
Owners should be aware that while natural wood has the ability to insulate a bit, this dog house has no insulation built into it.
It’ll be good for spring and summer weather, but insulation should be added if the weather dips below 70 degrees Fahrenheit at night.
This dog house does come in small, medium, and large sizes, but it’s intended for small to medium dogs.
Also, the given sizes are for the roof, not the dog house itself, so it’s easy to accidentally order the wrong size.
Final Thoughts
The Tangkula Dog House is slightly more costly than similar plastic dog houses, but it’s a fair price when the quality of the dog house is taken into consideration.

Best Overall Plastic Dog House
Suncast Outdoor Dog House DH350
When it comes to plastic dog houses, you want to know that you’re getting a quality product.
Too often, plastic dog houses are made with cheap standards all to make a profit, but that doesn’t happen with Suncast products.
I reviewed the Suncast DH350 dog house above. It’s not only the best dog house for large dogs, it’s the overall best plastic dog house.
Overview
The DH350 plastic dog house comes in all sizes with a colorful exterior that looks at home in any yard.
It has all the great features you’ll look for in a dog house, like a vinyl door, venting, and simple construction.
What I Liked
What sets it apart is the plastic siding.
This dog house is made of resin material, which has been studied and proven to be a stronger, higher quality plastic than traditional plastics.
It has a high cohesive and compressive strength.
It also has a higher level of microhardness, which makes it less susceptible to abrasions.
Dog owners know that dog nails can do a lot of damage even when your dog isn’t trying to dig into a surface.
This tougher plastic ensures that your dog will be able to use this dog house for a much longer period of time.
Gone are the days where you’ll have to replace the dog house every couple months!
What I Didn’t Like
As I mentioned before, you’ll need to insulate this dog house yourself if you plan on leaving your pooch outside in the winter and this dog house is best for calmer dogs.
Though, you could probably make the assembly permanent with some epoxy.
So, these negatives are minor and fixable!
Final Thoughts
Plastic dog houses may look like playground equipment, but playground equipment is good for surviving rough handling for long periods of time.
The Suncast Outdoor Dog House, model DH350, will protect your dog for a long time as well!

Benefits of Dog Houses
There are many benefits to getting your dog a dog house.
They wouldn’t have been invented and be so widely used if they didn’t have a strong purpose.
The first main purpose of a dog house is that it provides a much needed den for your dog[2].
Indoor dogs typically have crates they can use when they want alone time, but if your dog is outside all the time, they may not have access to a den-like space.
Dog houses also provide much needed protection for outdoor dogs.
Putting a crate in your backyard wouldn’t keep your dog from getting sunburnt during summer months or shelter them from cold winter winds.
Instead, dog houses are an aerated shelter that can work in any kind of weather, depending on if it’s insulated and well ventilated.
Being protected from the weather is the main concern for dogs that live an outdoor lifestyle, which is why dog houses are so important for owners to research and invest in.
What to Look For
Now that you know the best dog houses for all different kinds of sizes and purposes, it’s time to learn about what you should look for.
You’ll have to decide which factors are the most important depending on the size of your dog and the weather where you live.
Material
The material is what really makes a dog house worth your time and money.
You’ll want to buy quality material, plus the right material for where you live.
Wood
Standard wood dog houses work well in dry and sunny environments.
With the right ventilation, they’ll last a long time in the right weather.
Woods like fir and cedar have a long lifespan and stand up well to things like dog nails and sharp bones or sticks.
You’ll also want to look into wooden dog houses that have some kind of protection against mold and mildew.
Wood is especially susceptible to these in rainy climates, or when they’re placed in a part of your yard that doesn’t get much sunlight or wind to dry it out.
Plastic
Plastic dog houses must be well researched before you buy.
Plastic is easily made for a cheap price in factories, but cheap plastic won’t hold up when it’s put to the test of your dog’s wear and tear.
Resin based plastics are the strongest[3], which is why you should look for this kind of plastic in any dog house you seriously consider buying.
Metal
This is about as much metal as you want in your dog’s house
Metal can be used in dog houses, but shouldn’t be the sole material that makes the dog house.
For example, a wooden dog house with metal framing will be much sturdier than a traditional wooden dog house.
At the same time, no dog house should be made entirely of metal.
Metal is an excellent heat conductor. When sunshine or higher temperatures hit a metal surface, the delocalised electrons carry the kinetic energy throughout all the metal.
Your dog would essentially cook inside a metal dog house or freeze when laying on a metal surface in the winter.
Quality metal, like steel, should instead be used to reinforce the structure of a dog house.
Size
Just like size is important to consider when buying a dog crate, it’s just as important to keep in mind when you buy a dog house.
Getting the wrong sized dog house will make buying the house pointless.
How to Choose the Right Size
Your dog will be spending a lot of time in their dog house, and while they’ll have the freedom to come and go as they please, they should never be constrained to a tight space that they don’t actually fit in.
Measure your dog’s length and height when they’re comfortably standing and sitting. They should be able to walk into their dog house easily and relax without squishing themselves in.
Don’t try to fit a mastiff into this dog house!
You can also look at how your dog sits in the dog house after it arrives and they try it out.
If they’re being pressed in on all sides by the walls and even ceiling of the dog house, it’s definitely a size too small.
Check to see if the dog houses you’re interested in have a sizing guide that you can read before buying
You should also read customer reviews.
Your 100 pound German Shepherd may be within the correct size measurements, but another German Shepherd owner may have left a review that indicates the right or wrong size based on their experience.
Insulation
Dogs have roamed the world in all kinds of temperatures for thousands of years, but that doesn’t mean it was safe for them.
When you’re buying a dog house that will help your dog through colder temperatures, it should have the proper insulation for the temperatures you’re expecting.
When the outdoor temperature drops below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, that’s when your dog really needs some assistance.
Foam and padded insulation are great to have in a dog house at this point, as well as a rotating or solid door. A vinyl flap won’t cut it when the temperatures get that cold.
If your dog will be dealing with many feet of snow, freezing temperatures, and gusting wind chills, you’ll want to find a dog house that has the most insulation possible.
Ventilation
Ventilation is important for dogs in cold and hot weather.
It makes sure that your dog is always breathing fresh air.
When the weather is extremely hot, ventilation keeps the temperature inside the dog house from rising to temperatures that are higher than the actual outdoor air.
Consider what happens when it’s summertime and you sit in a car with all the doors and windows closed.
It gets really hot really fast and eventually leads to heat stroke.
Dogs can get heatstroke too, even if you think the door to their dog house will be good enough.
Ventilation is typically found on the walls of the dog house, but additional ventilation can be put on the roof or even installed twice as much on the sides of the house to catch wind gusts.
Ventilation can also keep the inside of your dog’s house from becoming humid, keeping mold from growing.
Weather Door/Flap
At first, a vinyl flap or door to your dog’s dog house may not seem like very much protection at all.
If it flaps around when your dog moves through it, why have it at all?
Weather doors are actually very important to keeping your dog dry and safe when the weather is bad.
Even if you get your dog a dog house that’s extra big and has space for them to lay down away from the door, rain can still get in if the wind has it falling at a slanted angle.
A weather door or flap will keep that rain out of the dog house, along with any flying debris like sticks and leaves.
It’s an extra measure of protection that’s especially useful for dogs that live in rainy areas.
Ease of Cleaning
It’s no secret that you’ll have to clean out the dog house in your backyard eventually.
No matter how clean your yard is or how much your dog avoids getting dirty, it’s still left out to the elements.
Dirt, debris, water, and even bugs will find their way into your dog’s dog house. That’s why it should always be easy for you to clean the dog house whenever you decide that it’s time.
Easy cleaning features will look like a roof that can be lifted off or walls that can be taken apart.
If a dog house is too heavy or permanently put together after you build it, it’ll be much more difficult to get it cleaned.
Design
Last but not least, the dog house you buy should look great!
It should look at home wherever you put it. You don’t want it to end up being an eyesore you have to look at every day.
Look for colors you enjoy and designs that appeal to you.
Some dog houses are made to look like tiny human homes, while others have their own style.
Keep this in mind while you look, since you shouldn’t have to buy something you don’t like just to make your dog comfortable.
Dog House Styles
I definitely fall into the group that had only one image of a dog house in mind.
The truth is that they come in many different styles that set them apart from other dog houses on the market.
Each style will have a different purpose and setting in mind, which is why every dog owner should know what each style is all about.
No one wants to end up buying a dog house that’s cute but doesn’t actually end up working for their dog.
Standard
The standard dog house is the one everyone first pictures when they think of a dog house.
It has the slanted roof, the wooden walls, and the arched doorway.
They come in many different colors and sizes, and can be easily personalized.
This dog house is good for dogs that will be outside in mild temperature conditions.
It’s meant to be a place to relax, not necessarily protect the dog from the most extreme elements.
It can be a good idea to let your dog start out with a standard dog house to train them that it’s a safe place for them to relax.
After that, you can upgrade to a dog house that’s designed more closely to your outdoor environment.
Igloo
Igloo dog houses are meant for exactly what igloos do:
They shelter dogs in winter weather.
They usually have an entrance that’s followed by a short tunnel that leads into the domed shelter.
The offset entrance keeps snow and rain from blowing into the dog house with the wind, and also helps keep your dog’s body heat in a centralized location away from the entrance.
They may have more insulation than other dog houses, although dog houses of all shapes can keep your dog warm during the winter.
Canopy
Canopy dog houses are like an outdoor crate that’s covered in a weather-resistant fabric.
They’re collapsible and easy to put together, so you can take it on the go.
This kind of dog house isn’t meant to be a permanent fixture in your backyard.
Instead, it can be switched between the outside world and the inside of your home, so your dog has their den wherever they need to go.
Soft-sided dog crates can be used as temporary canopy dog houses and are also good for traveling and camping.
Shed
Shed dog houses look like a human shed.
They’re boxy and may not even have openings to see inside.
These are meant for dogs that live in extremely cold weather for most of the year. They have inches of insulation on all sides, they’re raised off the ground, and won’t let any melting snow in.
These are best for dogs that will be outdoors in freezing or below freezing temperatures.
Shed dog houses are well sealed and insulated, so you won’t see these out in the backyards of anyone who lives where it’s sunny and hot all the time.
Porch
For owners interested in a more decorative dog house, the porch dog house may be what you’re looking for.
They come in all shapes and sizes, but offer an attached, covered porch area for your dog to hang out in.
An advantage of having a porch dog house is that your dog doesn’t have to be inside to watch the birds fly by.
They can be out in the breeze, without being at risk to get covered in bird droppings or a sudden summer storm.
How to Make Your Dog’s House Better
Dog houses are made with a great level of care, because no dog should be at risk of getting hurt in the place where they find safety.
Still, sometimes there are a few things you can do to help make your dog’s house better.
Add a Fan
You can also get a solar powered fan that’s good for dog houses, chicken coops, and many more uses!
Even if your dog is hanging out in the most ventilated dog house, they’re still going to get hot during the summer.
You don’t have to depend on just the wind and passing cloud coverage to cool your dog off.
It’s common for people to add a fan to their dog’s house with an extension cord.
Clip or fasten it to the outside or inside of the dog house, depending on where your dog hangs out the most.
Be aware that if you leave a fan on in your backyard, you should always remember to turn it off if it looks like it’s about to rain.
Younger dogs may also not benefit the most from a fan, since they could be tempted to chew on the plugged in extension cord and hurt themselves.
Add Insulation
You may enjoy the look or build of a certain dog house, then realize later on that your dog actually needs something a little more insulated.
This happens all the time, which is why you can always add extra insulation.
There are a few kinds of insulation for you to choose from before beginning your project.
Some dog house companies produce insulation for their dog houses, too
The first is fiberglass insulation, which is actually made of glass. This should never come into direct contact with your dog.
Instead, after you install it, it should be contained within the walls of the dog house or be covered with plastic sheeting.
Fiberglass insulation works well in all temperatures and resists moisture, but can’t be touched or breathed in by your dog. It may not be the best insulation for dogs who chew on their dog house.
Another option is to use is reflective insulation.
It’s a roll of reflective foam that can be easily installed in a plastic dog house.
Reflective insulation is non-toxic and won’t accumulate heat, but doesn’t do well with insulating a dog house in cold weather.
Foam spray is the third type of insulation used when trying to insulate a dog house.
It can be sprayed in those cracks, corners, and holes that let in hot or cold air.
Foam spray won’t absorb water and keeps mold from growing where it’s sprayed, but it can be costly.
This is the best kind of insulation to use if the dog house is small or only needs patching up.
Add a Heater
You can also get “pet-safe” heaters which are installed through your dog house’s door, if you’re the DIY type
Just like with a fan, a heater can be added onto a dog house to encourage more warmth during the winter.
These can be installed in a dog house where your dog won’t lay right up against it.
The cord should also not be where your dog can chew it when they get bored, since it’ll be turned on most of the time.
Heaters can be left on for long periods of time as well, as long as they aren’t against a plastic wall that could begin to melt.
They’re used in dog houses across many different cold climates, so it may be the solution your dog ends up needing.
Put it in the Right Place
Where should you put your dog’s dog house?
It’s a simple question that many owners don’t even ask themselves until after the dog house arrives.
Where you place the dog house will play a key role in making it a comfortable home for your dog.
Don’t put it in an area where it’ll be exposed to constant direct sunlight or winds.
It also shouldn’t be left in a part of your yard that’s known to flood during rains. Raised dog houses will keep the water from getting in, but only until a certain point.
Your dog should also be able to easily access the dog house.
Where does your dog currently hang out the most in your yard?

Goblin homes part 3
Continuing on from the post about dream goblin homes
Stilt house (in bog)
I'm pretty sure you like the baba yaga house vibe!
Stilt houses are houses raised above water or ground which is to avoid flooding
If you live in a area that's been flooded a few times getting a stilt house may be a lot easier than it seems!
When choosing a piece of land to build a stilt house on you should make sure it is free of rocks and remove any if there's any present before building cause you'll need to dig very big deep holes to put the stilts in cause if the holes are too shallow the house will be swept away and not have enough stability
Cause you wanna live in a bog also I'd recommend having someone professionally cofferdam the area where the stilts are going to be placed or buy land and add the bog later also I'd look into strong material for the stilts cause bogs are acidic and stilts being constantly in the water may make them corrode away faster
Yurts
Yurts are portable round tents which are held up by wooden beams! Yurts are great cause it's classified as a tent you don't need the council's permission to put one up and there are plenty of companies who make and put them up for you!
Yurts over time and tested engineering they some models which you can buy can handle strong winds and heavy snow so they are possible to have as a permanent structure!
Log cabin
Known for having logs laid horizontally on-top of each other and having interlocking notches at the end!
Log cabins are sold nation wide and some companies will even sell you kits to make it yourself! Pre cut logs are also sold so you don't need to worry about cutting them down yourself!
If you buy one from a company the prices will vary on how complex the building is and size along with the region you are in so if you just want a small basic cabin it may be very well in your price range!
Abandoned house
This honestly will have to do with your laws where you are and how willing you are to go by them
I would not recommend taking nest in a abandoned house youve found because you are likely to get arrested if caught or killed (some places will give you long jail time)
If you make or buy a house and make it look abandoned that's different thing
Tips on making a house look abandoned is! don't bother touching up the paint or cutting the grass! Let everything be natural also not letting anyone know you live there is another way of making it look abandoned
I'd be careful and get a security system cause people will wonder onto your property and try to either damage it or make it theirs! Keep the documents that the house is yours safe!!! And have proof that you've been living there recently or they'll claim it's theirs
Dug out (under big tree)
Dug outs are shelters that are dug into the ground!
This one may be hard to do cause you'll need to do a lot of searching for the perfect tree and most Property websites won't say how big or cool the tree on the land is (they should)
This mission will really be about knowing the land and what tree is best to find! The soil will need to be sturdy or it will collapse along with the tree!
Strong big trees!
Red wood! (Tallest tree in the world) Eucalyptus, banyan, olive, boabab, pine, cypress, cedar, oak
I'd recommend digging down far enough that you can use clay walls and proping up some support beams underneath the tree and around it to keep it up straight
