tricot - 3
This bitch came out of the mind of the 3 jap chicks calling themselves tricot. Before this album, I had heard a bit of their music, mostly their “hits”, such as ‘Bakuretsu Panie San’, which was already pretty sicknasty, but for some reason I always felt like I was just listening to some sort of anime opening. Don’t get me wrong, that’s a solid fuckin’ attribute and that probably sounds incredibly racist, but it just didn’t stick with me very well. When I had heard a fresh album popped up from them I gave it a listen and realized how much I like this band, especially on some specific tracks. What really jingles my nips when I listen to tricot is the mathy instrumentals, such as the song ‘18,19′. This song has enough spontaneousness to fill my little heart as well as great portions that mellow out. Another thing this album does is create very catchy songs, like the tracks ‘Yosoiki’ and ‘Namu’. These both have quick paced, fun, and enjoyable instrumentals with wonderfully Japanese hooks that make you want to learn what the hell you’re hearing so you can sing along out loud.
All in all, shit was noice, and overall will definitely be listening to them on the reg. I give it 3 out of 5 scoops of spaghetti o’s.
