zayne domestic fluff brainrot again except this time, it's you who comes home to him, and he finally gets to pamper and serve you the way you always do for him.
you're greeted by a warm waft of air the moment you open the door. the entire apartment is filled with the smell of your favorite dishes and you know instantly that, for the first time in weeks, zayne is home before you.
you hastily take off your coat and shoes, rushing past your cat sprawled in the middle of the hallway and to the kitchen where you find zayne. he's got an apron loosely tied around his waist. it takes you a second to realize that it's your gift from last week, the one that came in bright baby blue with ruffled, lace edges and an embroidered snowman dead center.
"it reminded me of you!" is what you had said when you handed it to him over dinner.
and he had thanked you with a feathery kiss on your knuckles, "i suppose i look a bit like this snowman, no?”
it still warms your heart, oddly enough, despite the fact that zayne has never been one to turn down any of your gifts, no matter how trivial or silly they were. he still has the keychain you gave him secured on the handle of his bag. the ceramic white kitten you got from your trip out of town five years ago sits comfortably on the desk at his office. one cutout panel from a photo strip of you and your cat is tucked inside an antique heart-shaped locket you found in some thrift store downtown. and there's not a moment where that locket isn't on him, one way or another, hung around his neck or buried in the safety of his pockets during surgery.
he adores you, and by extension every little trinket or piece of clothing you decide to give him.
the moment zayne turns down the heat on the stove is when you decide to make your presence known. you take light, careful steps as you walk towards him.
you wrap your arms around his waist, hands settling over his stomach.
and either he knows you've been lingering near the kitchen for a while or you weren't as sneaky as you thought, because he's not startled with your sudden arrival. he merely hums, as if to acknowledge your presence, before immediately melting against your touch. he takes one of your hands in his, the one that's not holding on to the ladle, and brings it closer to his lips.
"welcome home." he presses a kiss over your palm, absentmindedly tracing the lines with his finger. "dinner's almost ready. you should go and wash up.”
"this is a lot, zayne. thank you." you nuzzle a cheek against his back, trying to bring yourself impossibly closer to him as if you aren't already soul to soul at this very moment. "can't i at least set the table? wanna help you.”
"don't worry about it, my love." zayne turns down the stove completely. he faces you for the first time this evening, and you try not to be taken aback at how he looks at you. a bright gaze that makes him look like he’s in a trance as he’s staring at you. his eyes track the few strands of hair that manage to escape from behind your ear. he’s quick to move them out of the way. from there, his hand naturally gravitates towards your cheek where his thumb drags across smooth skin. he digs into the flesh with little pressure. "let me take care of you tonight.”
"if you insist.”
you can't help but laugh at how he sends you off. he’s ushering you to go to your shared bedroom, to get out of the clothes you’ve spent your entire day in and freshen up, but his hand stays firmly clasped around yours. it takes a few weak tugs and a lot of coaxing, of dragging out his name and using every possible pet name that comes to your mind for him to finally let you go.
when you return to your dining area after a quick shower, half of the lights are turned off. there's a set of three candles in the middle of the table lined with the placemats you only ever bring out when your parents are visiting.
zayne notices your arrival as he’s in the middle of placing two bowls of soup near your plates. he pulls out your chair, revealing the small bouquet of red chrysanthemums resting on it.
“for you.”
you’re briefly surprised as you take the flowers in your hands. he moves closer until his palm finds the small of your back.
"if i didn't know any better, i'd say you're planning on popping the question tonight.” you tease.
zayne tries to hide the pink dusting his cheeks by looking the other way. “can’t a man spoil his beloved?”
“oh, of course he can.” you reach for his face, taking his jaw by your hand. gently and with little resistance, you turn his face towards yours. “and his beloved couldn’t be more grateful. really, zayne, you didn’t have to do all of this.”
“i got off work early. when you told me you were working overtime, i thought it was the least i can do.”
“then let’s not keep the food waiting.” you smile.
you and zayne eat in an almost complete absence of silence as you urge him to talk about his day. and you find that it was pretty uneventful for the most part, except for the little girl he met in the hospital’s cafeteria.
“her name's mika.” he says between sips of red wine. “she’s six and she owns a cat who's three years older than her.”
you hum, motioning for him to continue.
“i met her little brother too. his name's louis, but he doesn't like being called that because it sounds too much like the name of the girl he apparently hates in school.”
“wow,” you breathe, “look at you, doctor zayne. akso hospital’s world-renowned chief cardiac surgeon and speaker to all toddlers.”
he lets out a low laugh, “i gave them some of the macarons you baked.”
“that’s adorable! did they like it?”
"when they asked who made them, i said they were baked by someone i hold near to my heart." zayne nods as he wipes the edge of lips with a napkin. "they said i should make sure to give that person lots of love."
"oh?" you lean forward, reaching across the table and past the plates of food to find his hand. "i think they might be right, doctor zayne."
zayne chuckles, choosing to indulge you. “i think so too.”
“meet me in the bedroom after i clean up?” he stands up, moving to stack the empty plates on top of each other. but you decide to beat him to it, swiftly taking the plates in your hand and out of his reach.
"leave this to me, love."
zayne frowns. there’s a slight crease on his forehead as he tries—but ultimately fails to protest. “but-”
“no buts. you’ve done enough for me tonight.”
but if there’s one thing about zayne that drives you mad, it’s that he knows when to use your weaknesses against you. he knows which parts of your bare skin to touch, what to say, how to say it. he knows that his hand sitting dangerously low on your back makes it hard for you to think of anything else. he knows that him leaning down to speak directly to your ear, hot breath fanning across cold skin, is enough to cloud your judgement.
“how about we do it together, then?”
bastard.
“fine…” you relent, knees feeling a little weak.
you two work in the kitchen like a perfectly well-oiled machine for the next half hour. he transfers all the leftovers into containers you plan on reheating over the week while you begin to scrub the plates clean.
"perhaps i did make too much…" he remarks at one point. it pulls a laugh out of you, and you bring your soap-covered hand to poke him in the cheek.
"cute." you mutter under your breath.
as the moon draws closer to its peak, you find yourself tucked in zayne’s arms, hiding under the sheets. the silk adds a layer of privacy, an added solace to the already peaceful four walls of your bedroom. and as you drift further into the land of your dreams, you think there's nothing else that could possibly be better than spending the rest of your life with zayne.
and maybe he has been sitting on the question for a while now. maybe he does have a tiny box tucked at the very back of his drawer, just waiting for the right moment to be worn on your ring finger.

The Twelve Days of a Possible Family Christmas
Good evening, everyone. I hope everyone is doing well this holiday season. And since it is the holiday season, I'd thought I bust out one of my old Christmas-related one-shots. It is titled "Twelve Days of A Possible Family Christmas." The description about it is...well...exactly what it says on the tin. It takes place about five months prior to the events of Graduation.
(DISCLAIMER: Please note this was done in 2018 and it is not for the current KP Winter Fanfic contest)
From the Desk of Sharper
With the holidays going on, I decided that, for Whitem's winter story competition, that I'm gonna do a one-shot songfic this time around. And since there weren't many last year, this could fill the void. The story is that, as per a Possible Family Christmas tradition, the whole Possible family sings the "Twelve Days of Christmas" but with a KP Twist to it.
It is set in Season 4, and, yes, Kim and Ron are still together. It takes place 5 months before the alien invasion.
The fanfic is approved for all general audiences.
Kim Possible, characters and settings, are created by Schooley and McCorkle and (c) by Disney.
The Twelve Days of Christmas lyrics are in the public domain and, thus, allowed on FFnet.
"The Twelve Days of A Possible Family Christmas"
December 24, 2006. 5pm, Possible household, Middleton.
James and Ann Possible were prepping up in time for the festivities in the kitchen. The house was all decorated with the help of the Tweebs. They rerouted the grid so that Middleton would not suffer any more rolling blackouts. Nana, Slim and Joss were all also in town, visiting. The Christmas turkey was baking in the oven and the props used for the skits were out in the living room.
It was the 17th Annual Possible Family Christmas Eve.
James took a sip of the eggnog that he had made with his machine. "The eggnog tastes as good as always, dear!"
James was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater with a snowman, brown shoes, and khakis while Ann was wearing denim overalls with both straps hooked over her green sweat, a pearl necklace and black boots.
Ann grinned, "Oh, James!"
She gave him a peck on the cheek and asked, "Can you add a little more cinnamon in it?"
James replied with a smile, "You know I will!"
He also made two more cups of eggnog as well for his most favorite guests.
"Check on Kim and Ron in the living room! We're about to sing carols!" Ann suggested.
"I'll tell them!" James replied as he went into the den where the crimefighting duo were at while holding the cups of eggnog in his hand. Luckily, since the villains were on a two-week truce, there were no missions to be had. Wade was at his parents, celebrating their family Christmas.
They were watching the promos for the "Six Tasks of Snowman Hank", which was to come later on tonight.
Ron was in a long-sleeved button-down dress shirt and baggy blue jeans that was showing off his pink heart boxers with a belt to hold them up. He completed this outfit with a simple gold chain R medallion and blue shoes.
Kim, in the meantime, was in baggy Club Banana denim overalls with the left strap hooked and the right strap undone. The undone side of the bib was flopping over her red plaid shirt, chunky Timberland-style boots, the choker and gold necklace behind her neck and the two chain pendants and silver locket Ron gave her behind her shirt. The CB ladies watch, two rings on both her fingers and large gold hoop earrings completed the jewelry department. She wore her hair in a ponytail and had purple eyeshadow, blush, makeup, red lipstick, and red fingernails. She was twirling her harmonica on the sofa.
Rufus, on the other hand, was curled up in a ball, sleeping right next to the Christmas tree.
"Evening, Kimmie-cub!" James said with a smile. He put Kim and Ron's cups of eggnog to the side of the end table since the carols came first.
"Evening, Mr. DrP!" Ron replied.
"Evening, Dad! Everything going OK for this year?" Kim asked.
"So far, we're on schedule!" James added before turning a suspicious eye towards Ron. "And, Ronald, pull your pants up because Nana is on her way with Slim and Joss! I hope you hadn't forgotten what happened two months ago with the whole hip-hop dating incident."
Ron pulled his pants up and tightened his belt so that only the rear of his boxers were seen.
"Thank you, Ronald." James said with satisfaction that his mom would not faint at seeing the blonde sidekick being Mr. Droopy-Drawers.
Nana, Slim, and Joss all came to the house an hour later. They were ready to sing the carols.
The Possibles all grabbed their microphones. Slim was behind the video camera.
"You got it recording, Slim?" James asked.
"This camera doo-hickey is runnin' like a gold-plated watch!" Slim replied. The red light was counting down towards recording.
"Since Ron is our favorite non-Possible family guest..." Ann suggested, "...I move that he will lead us in song!"
Kim held her harmonica right in her hands.
"Thank you, Mrs. Dr. P!" Ron said, blushing, "I've been around KP since our very first Christmas in Pre-K, so it's a wonderful honor to lead the carols this year! And I found the perfect tune!"
The instrumental tune to 12 Days of Christmas played on the boombox, courtesy of Joss. Kim started to play on her harmonica.

When the tune ended, the whole entire house exploded with applause.
"I knew you had it in you, Ron!" Kim exclaimed as she embraced Ron in her arms.
"From the guy that sang a naked mole rat, it was no big!" Ron grinned as the two kissed. "Now let's watch some Snowman Hank!"
But Ron then tripped on the carpet and the plastic cups of eggnog went off the end table, flying through the air. They both landed on Ron's face.
Kim couldn't help but giggle at her BFBF. Rufus woke up and sniffed the eggnog. He rushed over there and licked it off his owner's face.
"Ronald, you know you're going to have to clean this up, right?" James asked, glaring at the clumsy kid.
"Yes, Mr. DrP." Ron sighed as he was going to get the paper towels to clean the mess up.
The Possibles celebrated their family Christmas. It, however, turned out to be their last peaceful one.

What they do during Christmas. I know it's been a while since I did this but I hope you all enjoy it also no copywriting as you know I'm going to write about the X-Men as usual
Dog logan 🤠🐶
Before he met you he would spend his Christmas drinking whiskey and being lonely and acting like the Grinch and Scrooge. but when he met you his heart grew three times bigger (pun intended) and now he's much more excited about Christmas than ever I'm talking about him putting whiskey in his eggnog wearing a Santa suit for you on sexy time decorating his cabin for Christmas he's even more excited since you and him had your daughter and he's very excited to put her on her little Christmas onesie that said baby's first Christmas which is so cute by the way he loves Christmas and he wants his daughter to have a really good childhood and Christmas not the one he had when he was a little kid because he never had a good Christmas as a child he feels like he can be a better father than his dad ever was. Christmas photos are a must he will take several Christmas photos of you and everyone else. I also think he would put on country Christmas songs or Christmas carols and sing along.
Wolverine 🐺
He didn't really like the holidays because of so much sadness in his life that's until you came into his life he's a little less grumpy nowadays on Christmas but still being himself there would be snowball fights sometimes I also think he would put Christmas lights out on the roof because he doesn't want you getting hurt I also think he would help you decorate the tree watching Christmas movies and drinking hot chocolate is one of the greatest things to do with wolverine among other things. Spending time with his kids is also a great thing too cuz family has to stick together you know I also think he could sing Christmas songs only in front of you no one else can know about it 🤣 I think he'd be very curious on what you'd want for Christmas but he would always try to get you the best things like a good sweater uggs and some jewelry I also think he would want to spend time with you on Christmas nothing too fancy or anything.
Soul Creed 🦁
He and his sister only spend Christmas together just the two of them cuz when they were little kids their Christmas wasn't really a good one but ever since you came into his life he doesn't feel like Christmas is sad anymore he feels like Christmas is happy because he gets to spend it with his sister and you the love of his life. I also think that he would get you something very special like a locket with a picture of you and him and I also think he would get his sister something special too I also think that he might make you and his sister and him some hot chocolate and watch Christmas movies like Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer or Frosty the snowman I also think he would help you and his sister out with decorating the whole house and also having a Christmas dinner together. It warms up his heart that he has finally found someone that actually loves him for who he is and that there is someone that gets along with his sister deep down inside he knows that he doesn't deserve you but you remind him that he is loved and that you'll always love him for who he is.
Omega red
Before he met you he didn't really understand nor liked Christmas because when he was a child he never had any happiness in his life now as an adult he was even more unhappy that's until he met you now he's happy and he feels warm inside. His icy cold heart melted you are going to have to explain to him how to celebrate Christmas because when he was a kid him and his family never celebrated Christmas he was a little confused at first but with a Little help from you he finally got the hang of it he didn't know what to get you at first until he saw what you really wanted you were looking at this really cool awesome book that you had your eye on for a couple of days now so without you knowing he bought it and wrapped it up for you and when Christmas day came and you opened it you were surprised when you open up his present however he was even more happy it was a book he had once when he was a little kid he hugged you and thanked you and gave you a wonderful passionate kiss you too then drink hot chocolate and watch movies.
Victor Creed 🐯🦁(I'm using my OC)
When Victor was a young boy he never really understood about Christmas his father was a drunk and Christmas for him wasn't really that happy skip to many many years later she came into his life Victor is very happy with his wife Jacqulyn and is very excited about Christmas because he gets suspended with her when they eventually had their daughter his life became even more brighter and more happier and Christmas was even more joyful and exciting he decorates the house with his wife and make sure that everything is very fun he also buys his daughter a little onesie that says baby girls first Christmas to keep the memories he takes photos I think he would call his little brother and sister and everyone he knows and loves I also think that he would get his wife something beautiful like jewelry a beautiful picture frame with a beautiful family photo of him his wife and daughter while his wife gets him something like a new watch or something he'd like.
I hope everybody will have a wonderful Christmas and what are your thoughts on my post and please don't be afraid to request any fanfic

A Very Prompty Christmas Day 1: Advent Calendar
It was Eileen who brought the advent calendar into the Bunker.
She had spent the last few days working a case in an antique store in Kansas City, and the proprietor had been so utterly grateful when Eileen had banished the vengeful spirit that had been attached to a very expensive locket that he had given Eileen her pick of the store as a token of his appreciation.
Why Eileen had picked the advent calendar out of everything, including (she added, with a sidelong glance at Sam) some beautiful rings, she couldn’t quite explain. It had been tucked away in the corner of the store, its paint dulled with a layer of dust, but she had been drawn to it, as though it was meant to be hers.
Dean felt his spidey-sense tingle when she said that. No good could come of that, Dean was certain. He had a lifetime of evidence to support being wary of that little voice that whispered pick me up, put me on, take me with you when you looked at an object.
The calendar certainly looked harmless enough. It was wooden, and built to look like a child’s drawing of a house: square at the bottom, triangular at the top. The back was blank, while the front was decorated to look like a snow covered Tudor house: red brick on bottom with a deep green front door, two large picture windows either side. Tucked under the eaves of the gabled roof were tiny dormer windows, and Christmas wreaths lined the bottom of the roof.  The door, the wreaths, the large picture windows, even the snowman by the front door and the toboggan propped up against the front of the house all had small golden numbers on them, one to twenty four. None of the tiny ‘doors’, however, had handles, or catches, or any way Dean could see to open them.
“Maybe it’s broken,” Dean offered, straightening up and turning his face towards Eileen so she could see his lips move.
“Or, maybe it won’t open yet because it’s not December yet,” Eileen shot back and cocked her eyebrow when Dean gave her an incredulous look. “Maybe it’s magic.” Eileen circled her fists in front of her chest and then shot her fingers out, as if describing something that went poof.
At this, Dean glared at the advent calendar suspiciously.
“She’s kidding,” Sam said hastily. “Kidding. It’s not magic.” But Dean saw him turn to Eileen, a question in his eyes as he signed something that Dean was pretty sure was “is it?”
“I guess we’ll have to wait and see,” Eileen said mischievously, picking up the calendar and carrying it out of the War Room.
Dean looked at Sam, who looked worriedly between Eileen's retreating back and Dean before turning and hurrying to catch up with her.
Great. Just what Dean needed. An advent calendar that may or may not be magical. He idly wondered what horrors the calendar could inflict if it were evil. Would the little chocolates inside be spelled, or poisoned? Maybe the calendar itself was benign, but the opening of each tiny door brought them one step closer to some eldritch horror rising from the earth?
Or maybe it was just a calendar, full of tiny trinkets, meant to do nothing but incite excitement in the young (and not-so-young) at heart for the coming holiday season.
He understood Eileen being excited. It was the first time in a long time that she had someone to spend the holidays with, and coming back from the dead tended to make you extra eager to celebrate all the good things (Dean knew that from experience). He supposed that for the other people in the Bunker, there was a lot to be thankful for, and to want to get excited about. They were there, for one thing. They were back, their existences restored after Sam and Dean had defeated God and Jack had ascended to take his place. Those that were refugees from Apocalypse World were safe, their daily lives no longer threatened by warmongering angels.
Too bad Dean’s heart was too broken to feel anything.
With a sigh, Dean made his way out of the War Room and towards his bedroom. Maybe, if he was really lucky, there would be a tiny whiskey behind each tiny door, and he could drink the holiday away.

A friend of mine (who refuses to use YT tutorials) recently reached the waterfall in his first Undertale genocide route. I typed him up a guide that ended up being longer than I expected. Another friend told me to post it so
Undertale Genocide Guide (Waterfall and onwards)
If you haven’t used the butterscotch pie yet, SAVE IT. It’s a full heal and should be used for sans.
Okay I don’t know if you’ve found the snowman yet. He lives someone up in the path to snowdin and he’ll ask you to take a part of him to the surface. You can take up to three pieces and each gives you 45 hp. You can use this for Undyne if you REALLY need it but I suggest saving it for sans.
For Undyne, you should the cinnamon bunnies. You can steal them from the shop in snowdin and they heal 22 (I think) hp. If they run out, use bicycles. You can eat them twice and each times heals 11.
Behind the waterfall that you see when you first enter the waterfall, you can find the tutu. This increases your defense. HOWEVER, for the fight with undyne I recommend buying the cloudy glasses from Gerson’s shop. They give less defense than the tutu but they increase your invincibility frames. Because Undyne’s attacks are so rapid, this helps a lot.
The cloudy glasses also slow the effects of poison when you fight sans.
You can find the ballet shoes in a patch of grass in the waterfall. They deal the most damage of any item you’ve gotten so far. Use those to fight undyne.
You can find most waterfall monsters just by walking around so don’t worry about encounters.
Memorize Undyne’s arrow attacks. Golden arrows don’t need to be hit the first time. They’ll automatically move to a different position. Sometimes she’ll turn you red. In one of those attacks, a bunch of arrows will appear in a pattern and attach you. Go in circles around them and you can no hit this attack. Only heal if you have less than 20 hp left.
In the hotlands, most areas will be roped off. This includes some items as well. All puzzles will be deactivated.
First, you’ll enter Alphys’s home. You can go into her fridge to get the instant noodles. These heal 90 hp. Save them for sans.
You’ll get regular random encounters. There’s no need to actively seek encounters yet. You’ll one shot muffet.
To the bottom of one of the puzzles (it has arrows that send you over chasms with hot air) you can find the frying pan. You this for the sans fight. It allows each item that heals you to give 5 extra hp.
Since sans’s attack and defense are both one, you don’t need stronger weapons or armor. The cloudy glasses and frying pan just give the most side benefits. Don’t bother with the knife and locket. They don’t provide any benefit.
When you reach MTT hotel, the guy will still be there so you can’t steal. Buy the steak shaped like Mettaton’s face and save it. Buy the best healing items you can afford after.
The core is where you’ll get most of your encounters. There’s an area that has a bridge where enemies will be defending a button. The button doesn’t matter because the lasers are deactivated, but they do give encounters. They’re pretty hard but doable.
There’s a bridge on the way to the elevator to fight mettaton. Do the same thing from the snowdin bridge to get the remaining encounters.
You’ll one shot mettaton.
Organize your inventory. Equip the glasses and pan. Next, keep your weakest healing items (cinnamon bunnies) in the front. Next put the snowman pieces if you have any left. Then the items from the MTT hotel. Then the noodles. Then the pie. In the fight, you’re gonna wanna use your weakest items first before using the stronger ones toward the end.
Ignore the knife and locket. They don’t really help in battle. One time I picked the locket up and dropped it and it said “You threw the heart locket on the floor like the trash it is” lol
Flowey is gonna monologue at you on the way. A LOT. Just get through it.
If you die to sans once, he’ll start prematurely the second time. The attack will start after “the birds are singing” the second time you fight him.
The only way to progress his dialogue and move on in the fight is to hit him. Once again, only heal if you have less than 20 hp. Do not check or spare him.
Memorize his attacks.
He’ll give you the opportunity to spare him half way through. Use this chance to heal. If you do accept this and spare him, he’ll kill you.
Eventually, he’ll put bones on the menu. Go into your items to avoid them until you can safely reach attack.
The poison doesn’t last forever.
He’ll let you know when his special attack is coming. Before this, he’ll prep one really hard attack.
He slams you against walls, sends you through a bunch of bones, slams you some more, and then there’s a circle of blasters. In the circle, stay as close to the middle as possible. Ideally, use the pie just before this attack.
After this attack, he’ll begin rapidly slamming you against the walls. This means that you’ve defeated him.
While he falls asleep, don’t move. If you hit the edge of the box, he wakes up to teleport you back to the center.
Once he’s fully asleep (you’ll see the Z’s) push the edge of the box to the attack button.
Then you’re done :) Just keep moving
Side note: to the right of the throne room, you can find the coffins. Select the coffin and you’ll get the dialogue “its as comfortable as it looks” I just think that’s funny.

together in this world
Behold! the widower!Agustin/widowed!Julieta/single parents au that’s been bouncing around in my head since this post came across my dash
@daliceus this is for you, thanks for the inspiration!
As he navigates his way through the train station, Agustín is infinitely grateful that Luisa is a deep sleeper. It’s chaotic and noisy and crowded, and yet the seven month old doesn’t stir from where she’s strapped to his chest, drooling on his shirt. His mother and tías and sister-in-law all rave over how easy of a baby Lu is. How she’s already sleeping through the night, how little she fusses, how little she cries. That familiar knot of grief sticks in his throat. He’d gladly take his daughter being the most difficult baby in the world if it meant Angie were still here with them.
His heart lurches in his chest as he stumbles over something on the ground. Luckily, there’s a pillar nearby that he catches himself on, saving him from faceplanting on the ground and on top of his daughter.
Agustín breathes a sigh of relief. “Close call there, Lulu,” he whispers, kissing the top of her head. She slumbers on, oblivious.
He picks up the offending object; a plush toy of that godawful snowman from Frozen, nearly as big as Luisa. The tag on the bottom of the toy has the initials I.M. written on it, and there’s a pretty golden locket clasped around its neck, engraved with the name Isabela. He takes it with him, figuring he can give it to one of the train attendants. Surely the station must have a Lost & Found.
He’s on the train platform when he hears it, a gentle voice trying to reason with a sobbing toddler. “Isa, mi flor, I’m sorry that I can’t find Olaf, but we have to get on the train.” There’s a note of desperation in her voice. “Don’t you want to see Abuela and Dolores? And Tío Bruno?”
If there are actual words in the little girl’s garbled response, he can’t understand them. Theresa assures him that he’ll be fluent in toddler speak some day, but today is not that day.
It isn’t hard for Agustín to find the source of the voice; a woman about his age, her dark hair tied back in a braid, kneeling on the ground, wiping away tears from a little girl with equally dark pigtails. He approaches them cautiously. He knows he doesn’t cut the most imposing figure, but she’s still a woman alone with a small child, and he doesn’t want to scare her.
He clears his throat to get her attention. “Excuse me, señora?” he says, holding out the snowman. “I think you dropped this.”
The girl squeals out a joyous, “Olaf!” claiming her toy, and jumping around in a circle. Her mother looks up at him, her momentary shock quickly replaced by a wave a relief.
“Oh my god, I could kiss you,” she says, both hands covering her mouth when she realizes what she’s said.
He just chuckles. “I’m happy to help,” he says, holding out a hand to help her up. “I’m Agustín, by the way.”
“Julieta,” she says, giving him a smile that doesn’t quite meet her warm brown eyes. She looks about as tired as he feels, and more than a little frazzled. He’s sure the meltdown over losing Olaf didn’t help.
Isabela is now bouncing in place beside her mother. “Mami, Mami, can we get on the train now?”
“Of course, Isa.” As Julieta starts to gather their things, he sees her biting her lip, starting to get overwhelmed.
“Would you like some help with that?” he offers.
She shakes her head. “You don’t have to do that. I can manage,” she says. “Besides, I’m sure you need to get back to your family.”
“It’s just us,” he tells her, nodding down at Luisa. “And I travel light.” He gives her a gentle smile. “You look like you could use the help.”
She lets out a long, shuddering sigh, tries to discreetly wipe away a tear. “Some help would be nice.”
~~~
They end up seated next to each other, by sheer coincidence. Julieta gets Isa settled with her blanket and some snacks, and then pulls out her phone to call Pepa.
Her sister answers on the first ring. “Hey, you on the train?”
“Hello to you too, Pepi,” she teases. “And, yes, we are. Should be pulling out in about ten minutes.”
“Good, good,” Pepa says. “Oh! Mama wants to know when you’ll be arriving tomorrow.”
Julieta sighs. “I already told her between noon and one.”
Pepa hums. “She has meetings all afternoon, so I’ll probably be picking you up. Just text me when you’re getting close, alright?”
“I will,” she says. “Te quiero, Pepi.”
“Te quiero, Juli.”
In the time she’s been on the phone, Agustín has settled his still sleeping daughter into a baby seat, which he is gently rocking.
“What’s her name?” she asks softly.
“Luisa,” he says with a fond smile. “After her abuelo.”
“That’s lovely,” she says, and his smile widens. “How old?”
His eyes glaze over with an emotion that she recognizes all too well. “Seven months,” he says, his voice thick, his smile tight.
“Mami?” Isabela’s little voice breaks the tense silence. “Can we watch a movie?”
“Why don’t we read a book instead?” she offers, reaching for Isa’s backpack. “It’s getting close to bedtime.”
Isabela perks up. “Can we read the one about Anna and Elsa?”
Julieta sighs, and she swears she can see Agustín trying not to laugh out of the corner of her eye. “Of course, querida.”
~~~
She’s halfway through the book, Isabela dozing off in her lap, when she notices that Luisa is awake and is staring at her with big, brown eyes.
“Looks like I have a captive audience,” she murmurs.
Agustín chuckles. “I think she likes the sound of your voice.”
It shouldn’t make her blush, but it does.
“Mami,” Isa whines, “keep reading.”
She does.
~~~
Agustín has a six hour layover in the middle of the night while he waits for the train to Encanto. To his surprise, Julieta follows him off the train, and they set up camp by one of the walls in the station.
“You’re going to Encanto, too?” he asks as she settles down with a snoring Isabela.
She nods. “We’re moving back in with my mother,” she says, a hint of shame coloring her words. “What about you?”
“New job,” he says, sighing. “After losing Angie, the city just doesn’t feel the same anymore.”
She nods. “Your wife?”
Tears are spilling before he can stop them. “She died giving birth to Lu. I’m doing my best, but...”
She squeezes his hand gently. “Isa’s father died just after her first birthday,” she tells him, her eyes shining. “We were doing okay for a while, but then I lost my job, and everything started to spiral from there.”
They sit like that for a while, holding hands and quietly grieving. Eventually, he looks over at her with a wry grin. “We make quite the pair, don’t we?”
She falls asleep on his shoulder, and he wonders if the strangers passing them by think they’re a family.
~~~
“I just realized, we never did thank you for returning Olaf yesterday.”
Agustín almost says something stupid about how her company has been thanks enough, but he stops himself. “Like I said, I’m happy to help.” He lowers his voice. “As long as that thing doesn’t talk. Please tell me it doesn’t talk.”
Julieta purses her lips. “Well, he used to,” she says, her voice taking on a feigned innocence. “Until the battery died and I lost the voicebox while trying to replace it.”
“You’re an evil genius.”
~~~
It’s bright and sunny when they arrive in Encanto, and Julieta can’t help but grin at Agustín’s childlike wonder as he takes in the scenery.
“You grew up here?” he asks, awestruck.
A wave of melancholy washes over her. “Yeah.”
Before they separate in the train station, she stops him. Feeling unusually bold, she writes her name and phone number on a scrap of paper and gives it to him. “If you ever need someone to talk to.”
He tucks the paper into his wallet with a smile, then takes her pen. “I don’t have any paper,” he says apologetically, writing his number on the palm of her hand. “If you ever need a friend.”
Agustín walks away, leaving her dumbstruck. Isabela grabs her hand, jumping up and down. “Mami, look, Tía Pepa’s here!”
Julieta turns to face the music as Isabela and Dolores happily reunite. Pepa wraps her in a tight hug before pulling back and holding her at arm’s length. “Welcome home, hermana,” she says, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“It’s not like that, Pepa,” she protests as they gather the girls and lead them outside.
“Uh huh. You keep telling yourself that, Juli.”
(Two years later, Julieta and Agustín take a train to Cartagena for their honeymoon.)
I realize Undertale's been out for like 7 years now, but with the new Deltarune chapter, some people might wanna go try and take a stab at Undyne the Undying and Sans. To which I say, that's extremely valid, they're painfully difficult but so satisfying to beat. Even if it is an emotional rollarcoaster to get there.
As a genocide run veteran, bit of useful advice:
Save the best food for Sans. Snowman pieces can be used on Undyne if you really want, but they're best saved for Sans. Pie should NEVER be used on Undyne; it's the only item that'll always take you back up to 92 hp, so it's a waste on Undyne.
Grinding all the kills in each area is annoying. The quickest method is to head straight to the last room with encounters in that area, go to the top wall, and just hold the up and down keys at the same time. You'll sort of wiggle around in place, which farms encounters super fast. Once you've finished killing, you can roll right on out of there with minimal interruptions. Yes, the farming looks silly; we call it the Murder Dance.
Don't worry about money; you can't buy temmie armour on a genocide run. Gerson and Burgerpants are the only people that'll sell to you anyways. Attack and defense only ever matter against Undyne, and you'll just want the dusty tutu and ballet shoes for her.
Undyne the Undying always does the same attacks on turns; for example, she turns you red again on turn 3. After a few tries, you'll start getting a good feel for it. I recommend taking notes as you go; it helps to know exactly what you're about to be dealing with each turn. Make sure to mark which turns you find difficult to dodge, so you know when you absolutely need full health going into a turn.
You can technically take notes for Sans as well, but after you get past the fake spare, he starts hitting you while its your turn, so the second half of the fight you don't have time to check notes. Best to just get used to muscle memory with him.
Sans hits for 1 hp per frame, with karma damage as an extra fuck you to drain your health, and dodges every attack. Chara's locket and knife are worthless to you; the best gear for the Sans fight is the Cloudy Glasses, and the best weapon is either the Torn Notebook or Burnt Pan. The burnt pan makes food heal you a little more, which is helpful, while the glasses and notebook give you a little bit of i-frames. It's not much, but it makes a world of difference; just the glasses makes you invincible every fourth frame, while glasses and notebook makes it every third frame. Normally, Sans can hit up to 30 hp in a second, but with glasses and notebook equipped that's reduced to 23 hp per second. The glasses and notebook equipped together will also make KR drain your health slower, giving you a better chance of surviving each turn. If you want the glasses and notebook, make sure to buy them from Gerson as you go past, because backtracking through a dead area takes a fucking century with 'but nobody came' interruptions every five seconds.
Pie and Instant Noodles should NOT be used in the first half of the Sans fight unless you're still learning the ropes and want more time alive to practice. If you're making a serious run at victory, the pie and noodles are for the second phase; scrolling through the menu can drain your health to 1, so you need the full heals to make it worth it.
Sans will keep 'sparing' you until you take the bait or attack. This is the final checkpoint; after that, he starts attacking you in the menu, so you'll need to be 100% ready to go for the rest of the fight. Heal up (NOT with the pie or noodles, unless they're all you've got left), stretch, have a drink, tie your hair back, adjust the volume, scratch your nose, go to the bathroom... do whatever you need to be ready for the most intense battle of your fucking life, because this is the last time your hands can safely leave the keyboard until the fight is over.
Most of all, stay calm. Undyne the Undying and Sans are incredibly mean bosses. This is not like Jevil or Spamton Neo. You're going to be here for a very long time. But you will learn the patterns, you will get better, and you will beat them. If you start getting angry, take a break. If you start getting sloppy, take a break. They're not going anywhere. Try to be zen about attacks that are especially mean for you; just heal up and tank the damage. Every attempt is a learning experience, and every death brings you closer to victory. You just have to stay determined.
Happy genociding!
Traditions - Shouto Todoroki x Reader
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THESE CHARACTERS, THEY BELONG TO KOHEI HORIKOSHI
DAY THREE OF 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS - 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS MASTERLIST - MAIN MASTERLIST
What were you supposed to get the boy who could have anything he wanted? That was the question that had been plaguing your mind for the entirety of November and now December. Shouto Todoroki, your loving and caring boyfriend, was the hardest person you had ever shopped for in your life. Even Momo was easier to shop for - she actually really liked homemade baked goods since when she’s training she has to eat a ton of processed stuff. You were currently at the mall, picking up things for the rest of your friends with Shouto, while also trying to scope out what interests him in certain stores.
“So who’s next?” He asks as you scroll through the list on your phone.
“Hmm… I think Midoriya.” You respond, looking around to see all of the stores surrounding you. A certain one grasps your attention with the bright yellow, blue, and red colors. Shouto follows your gaze and he gives you a small smile as it lands on the huge All Might themed store.
“Well you're definitely gonna find something in there.” He chuckles, gently tugging your hand as the two of you walk towards the door.
You had finally left the mall with several bags being carried by the both of you, but you still had no clue what to get for your boyfriend. After Shouto dropped off the bags in your door and gave you a quick kiss goodbye - he apparently had some important business to attend to - you decided enough was enough. You scroll through the contacts on your phone to find Fuyumi, Shouto’s older sister, and press the call button. You’re only able to hold it to your ear for a few seconds before she answers.
“Y/N! How are you?” Fuyumi’s sweet voice filtered through your phone.
“I’m good, how are you?” You ask politely, making your way to sit down on your bed.
“Fine, just doing some stuff around the house. I’m glad you called though, I haven’t been able to talk with you for a while.” You heard some clinks and clatters in the background and quickly assumed she was doing the dishes.
“Oh, no problem! I actually have a question if you’re not too busy.” You say, letting your shoulder press your phone to your ear so you could start taking all of your purchases out of their bags.
“I’ve got time, shoot away!” She says cheerily, causing a smile to grace your face.
“It’s about Shouto-”
“What about Shouto?” A deep but happy voice piped up through your phone.
“Hi Natsuo!” You greet, smoothing the blouse you got for Ochaco out.
“Hey kiddo! What’s up?” You could almost feel his wide grin radiating through your screen.
“Was asking Fuyumi a question, but you can answer it as well. I wanted to know what kind of stuff you and Shouto did when you were younger around the holidays to get an idea of what he likes to do. I was trying to find something to get him for Christmas, but I feel like if he wanted anything he would have already gotten it, so I want to do something with him.”
“Uhmm…” You hear both of them exchange awkward words, so you pipe up instead.
“I mean my brother and I would have gingerbread house competitions, go ice skating, and have movie marathons, but I don’t really know if that’s something Shouto would be into .” You say, opening the last of your bags which contained a snow globe with a polar bear cub in it for Koda.
“Y/N, uh… Shoutos never really done any of that before.” Natsuo says. You frown a bit, but shake your head.
“Oh - is there anything your family does especially for the holidays? I mean I know your dynamic is a bit… different than others, but I’m sure you found a way to celebrate...right?” You asked warily.
“That’s a really sweet thought but umm… Dad didn’t really let us mingle, so he’s never experienced any usual holiday activities. I mean he celebrated with us, don’t get me wrong, but we never really got to do fun things as siblings.” Your jaw drops. You remember playing with your brother in the snow being one of the happiest memories during the holidays and you can’t believe Endeavor didn’t grant Shouto that. All of a sudden, a lightbulb seemed to come to life above your head and a grin replaced your frown.
“Thank you! Thank you so much for telling me, I know what to do!” You exclaim, clasping your hands together. You bid adieu to your boyfriend’s siblings and immediately start planning.
“Y/N, I don’t understand what’s going on. Why did you call me out here?” All bundled up in a puffy jacket that made him look even cuter than ever, snow pants, and a pompom beanie. Shouto looks at you with a raised eyebrow.
“We are going to have the best day ever.” You state, grabbing his gloved hands in yours. “We’re going to make a snowman, then we’re gonna bake some cookies, maybe make some hot cocoa, and watch some Christmas movies.”
“W-what?” He manages, a blush spreading across his cheeks.
“Merry Christmas! I was trying to think of something to get you, but I kept coming up with blanks. So, I figured we should celebrate our first Christmas together by implementing some solid traditions.” You saw his shocked expression turn into one of somewhat embarrassment as he looked to the side.
“Y/N, your idea sounds great, but I’ve never done those activities before. What happens if I mess them up?” Concern flickers across his eyes, but you give him a reassuring smile and cup his cheek with your mittened hand.
“It’s perfectly fine if you ‘mess them up’, even though I’m sure you won’t. These activities are specifically designed to be fun, stress free things to do, okay?” Shouto nods and gives you a small smile. You give him a quick kiss and your day of fun begins.
Building a snowman was certainly a feat. You had to teach Shouto how to roll the snow to create bigger bases than the average snowball, which completely enthralled him. It was cute to see him so excited about how the snow managed to get that big, and he even put a little spin on the snowman, creating a “frozen pond” right next to him and an ice fishing rod so that he could go fishing.
Next was the cookies. Even though he really hadn’t cooked that much in his life, like many things, your boyfriend picked it up quite quickly. The two of you would perform a quiet dance in the kitchen, dropping two sticks of butter in one bowl and pouring a cup of sugar in another. What Shouto didn’t know, however, was flour’s tendency to create a mini explosion. His face when it poofed up in his face was priceless. You laughed so hard your stomach hurt which only made Shouto take some more flour and throw it on you so you were matching.
Finally, you made it to the end of the day. Both of you were cuddled up on your bed in your dorm watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Your back was pressed up against his chest and his arms were around yours, his left hand drawing soft lines on your skin, heat following his finger tips. You were so happy. Shouto really looked just ecstatic for the entire day, enjoying every activity you came up and even adding his own personal spin to them. You were so engrossed in those happy memories from earlier in the day that you didn’t hear Shouto say your name.
“Y/N,” he says in a velvety voice, shaking you a little to gain your attention.
“Hmm?” You hum in response, telling him that you were listening.
“I have something for you.” You turn around to look at him and you gasp with delight. In his hands dangled the daintiest little locket you had ever seen. It was a pretty silver oval with the tiniest little hinge on its side.
“May I?” You ask, motioning to open it. He gives you a soft smile and nods. You open it very carefully and you melt at what you see inside. It was your initials next to his with a heart outline.
“I know you don’t like obvious jewelry so I didn’t go for the heart locket, but I still wanted to get the meaning across. Do you like-” You cut him off with a searing kiss. You cup both of his cheeks in your hands and press him close to you.
“I love it, Sho. Thank you so, so much.” He grins at you and opens the clasp.
“Do you want me to put it on for you?” He asks. You nod quickly and turn your head back around. His hand sweeps your hair to one side and swings the necklace around your neck so that the clasp was in the back. His fingers danced lightly across the back of your neck, sending a tingle down your spine. He closes the little clasp and smooths it out. You reach up to touch the little locket and smile, turning back around to look at him.
“To new traditions,” you toast, arms wrapping around his neck.
“To new traditions.”
some holiday hcs for nile’s first christmas with the guard
it’s nile’s first christmas since becoming immortal and she’s watching the season approach as they travel around the world, watching those who celebrate put up lights and trees and she enjoys the stops they make in a snowy place
she’s missing her family even more, having been a daughter of a man in the military the holidays were probably hard to deal with while he was deployed and then after he died her mom and brother, they all clung to each other. and now she has none of them
they all notice the change in her demeanor and the way she admires the decorations and the families strolling the streets and shopping together and they form a plan
joe and booker are sent to pick a tree, joe uses booker as a height comparison to make sure they get one with a good height and then there is the inevitable struggle of them tying it to the roof of the car because they can’t stop arguing about how to do it and joe suggest multiple times that booker can just hang onto the roof and hold the tree down
booker does not like this idea, but in joe’s defense he’s nearly as big as the tree so he could probably do it - ends with joe driving very slow while booker sighs loudly in the passenger seat
quynh drags nicky to get decorations, she’s spent 500 years in the ocean, doesn’t matter whether she celebrates christmas, she’d absolutely love all the decorations and lights and tells andy, “we need that giant light up snowman andromache please”
also competitive quynh making sure their decorations are better than anyone else’s in the area
no one knows who the fuck lives in that apartment but they know they DO NOT fuck around with christmas decorations
nicky gets lost in the store, admiring all the lights and decorations and he ends up getting a matching pair of the ugliest fucking christmas sweaters you’ve ever seen in your life and one of those stupid hats with the elf ears on it
he doesn’t care much of the holiday for celebrating jesus or whatever, but enjoys the festivities and the chance to wear ridiculous clothing with joe
joe and booker return with the tree, booker grumbling something about a squirrel attack while they put the tree in their small living room
andy is out with nile, keeping her out of the apartment and walking around the city. i like to think they took her somewhere in europe to see the christmas markets and enjoy the snow and get the full idealized christmas experience, she’s from chicago and snow to her is probably an integral part of the season
they buy small little trinkets and sweets, nile just thinks andy is indulging her, i mean when is the last time andy celebrated any holiday so fully
quynh and nicky arrive with way too many decorations that it makes their apartment look even smaller but they don’t care
booker has made eggnog that’s just more booze at this point but no one cares, him and nicky have started a competition to see who can string lights up along the ceiling the fastest (nicky is winning because joe is sneakily undoing bookers)
quynh has the best time putting all kinds of random decorations on the tree, the general baubles but also she got one for everyone. booker gets a little flask ornament, and somehow she managed to find sword ornaments for joe and nicky and an axe for andy, though it doesn’t look the same, and she gets one for nile of deep dish pizza and the sears tower
nile and andy finally come back and nile is in complete shock, standing in the doorway staring at what might be the most insane collection of decorations she’s ever seen. there’s a snowman, the grinch (andy’s favorite holiday movie), so many stars and mini christmas trees, lights are strung up all around the ceiling and the tree is massive, covered in a random assortment of decorations and with quynh’s eye it looks like a winter wonderland
and then she spots the ornaments for her and then she starts crying and everyone moves in for a hug - she still has family to celebrate with they tell her
and then there are presents to open
joe gives nicky a collection of poems and sketches, which booker helped him bind into a little book and nicky gets joe a wonderful and carefully crafted tea blend reminiscent of an old favorite of his he hasn’t had in a 100 years and then brings out the sweaters which joe has a good laugh over before making andy take a picture of them
nicky made sure to get the rest of them sweaters too - him and joes are stupid puns like “oh snap” with a broken gingerbread or “feline festive” with a cat, booker’s has a dog, andy’s has something obscene written on it, quynh’s is patterned while nile gets one that says “i sleigh all day” after he learned what slay meant
nicky gives booker the ugliest fake money you’ve ever seen, a child could’ve done better and nicky tells him that’s his winnings from the last bet - he drew a poor imitation of himself on the bills (booker absolutely loves it)
quynh gets andy a new necklace to layer with the other, a small bow and arrow pendant hanging from it while andy gets her a locket so she can keep a photo of them inside
quynh gets roller skates from booker and she’s so excited she puts them on immediately and nearly wipes out had andy not caught her, but she’s still smiling and absolutely giddy
booker gives andy an old bottle of whiskey he found in another safehouse, they’ve both already drunk two bottles of vodka and he’s put three bottles of bourbon in the eggnog already but that doesn’t stop them from immediately opening it
joe gives booker a jacket he stole from him and gets the most deadpanned look from him before booker pulls out joe’s gift and he did the same thing with some of joe’s art supplies
and then everyone turns to nile, andy’s got a gleam in her eyes as she hands over the long, delicately wrapped package and nile’s eyes widen as she peels the wrapping paper off
it’s her very own sword, andy got it made for her. it’s long and slimmer than something like nicky’s sword, and light enough she can use it one-handed if needed, it’s got her initials carved into the hilt and it fits comfortably at her side
the rest of the night is spent watching classic christmas films and more booze, games are brought out and they sing carols while tipsy, booker and nicky are once again competing and this time it’s to see who can fit the most candy canes in their mouth (no one wins this one when they both spit them out over everyone after laughing at each other), andy and quynh are dancing in the kitchen, joe and booker are enjoying the cookies and joe is taking pictures of everyone while watching nicky begin to give nile pointers about her sword
it’s their first christmas like this ever and i think they’d keep the traditions around for a while
