I was staking your ur yaelokre tag and I swa you were a published author and???????????? Would you mind me asking what exactly you published? (Infodumping encouraged!)

i’ve only got one published book out right now, which was done through self-publishing on Amazon, but i’ve sent two of my three manuscripts off to two different publishing companies to hopefully get them picked up and published! fingers crossed!!

my current book out is called Servant of Evil! it’s a historical fiction tragedy about the Salem Witch Trials, told from the perspective of one of the afflicted girls, Mary Warren. it details her involvement in the trials and how it rapidly tore the town of Salem apart, as well as detailing her slow descent into despair as the overwhelming guilt of her actions rips at her mental state.

the story is very grim and had me crying on several occasions, and i’m the author!

i wrote the book because i was hyperfixated on the Salem Witch Trials, which started when i was a junior in high school when we read The Crucible. however, it wasn’t until a year later that i actually started to do something with said fixation, as my mom took me to Salem for a graduation and 18th birthday gift, which reignited my passion for the event and got me writing! SoE was finished within two months, but it wasn’t actually published until January 2023.

do be warned, though, as the book is very heavy and covers a lot of serious subjects such as: self harm, suicide, sexual assault, abuse, and torture.

my other three finished manuscripts are:

Medusa’s Child, a three-part historical fiction series about Medusa raising a human child named Theodora (Teddi for short), who goes on to avenge her when she’s killed by Perseus. i have another account sharing details about the books: @mommy-medusa! (this is the one i sent to a publisher!)

Fog Makes People, a psychological horror-thriller duology about a fictional town called Lochmere that is haunted by a strange fog that causes people to go missing. sixteen-year-old Beatrice “Bee” Lamb is returning to Lochmere after spending some time away with cousins due to constant harassment from the community. she was the sole survivor of a fire at school that killed nine other kids, eight of which didn’t die from the fire itself but rather from being taken by whatever is in the fog. however, the night of her return, she begins to get texts from one of the fire victims, and she starts to realize that maybe the people who go missing in the fog aren’t actually dead. this send her down a rabbit hole where she desperately tries to save her friends, which is difficult in and of itself, but things get even more complicated when she officially discovers and subsequently meets the mastermind behind it all: an enigmatic, horrific creature known as the Rorschach. (this is the other one that’s been sent to a publishing company!) (this one is my favorite, i’ve spent so long developing it.)

and Hell or High Water, a survival horror-splatter punk set on a cruise ship called The Grey Palace, following a teenage girl named Violet Nicotero. this cruise ship gets hijacked by some maniacs and stranded out in the middle of the ocean, where the passengers are slowly picked off by these mask-wearing freaks. (i hate this one so much. it was my first ever book written, and it was supposed to be my debut novel, but i started to resent the whole thing after editing it so many times. i got too frustrated with it, so i put it aside to work on SoE instead, and it’s been in timeout for about two years now ever since.)

they’re all my babies, and i hope to get them all out in the world one day, including all my works currently in development hell!

The glukkons worshiped deities before the schism, what old text remain suggest there may have been a pantheon. Lochmere was one such divine, powerful and highly revered. Yet his legacy was among the first to be destroyed, his followers imprisoned and worship strictly outlawed.

The serpent emerged from the coldest depths of Lochmere only to face the fires of Irencrag. Only when the monster had been forced away from the shore did the offending knight finally cease her assault, her eyes growing wide with equal parts horror and recognition.

“Cordice! A-Apologies, friend! It’s me! Syr Carah!”

The serpent cowered away from the knight, but managed to muster its courage after a time. It leaned back in and hissed fearfully at Carah, who seemed to understand it perfectly.

“What’s that? Aalis is frozen in the loch? Well let’s go, then! Lead the way!”

With a determined screech, Cordice lowered its neck for Syr Carah to climb atop its back. The curious pair made their way offshore, until they were floating above the deepest section of Lochmere.

“Is…Is she down there?” Carah held high a blazing quarterstaff in an attempt to see through the turbid water, but to no avail. “I can’t see a thing!”

Cordice let loose one final, frantic hiss, and turned so Carah was above a particularly murky section of water. The knight grimaced, and lowered her staff so one end of the fiery weapon was submerged in the loch. The water grew warm, but far too slowly for Cordice’s tastes, as it shook terribly from worry.

“Don’t worry! I’m doing it just slow enough, so Aalis doesn’t get cooked. It’ll be okay.”

Sure enough, as soon as Carah finished speaking, a finned head broke the surface of the loch, weakly treading water before Cordice leaned down to scoop up the rescued merfolk. Aalis promptly collapsed atop the serpent’s back while Carah placed a hand on her scaly shoulder to steady her.

“Easy,” Carah cautioned. “It’s okay. You’re safe, now.”

“Thank you…Syr Carah,” Aalis choked weakly.

“Thank Cordice. It was the one who let me know.”

Hearing the praise, Cordice raised its head to give an appreciative hiss. Unfortunately, however, the motion jostled its passengers, nearly throwing them overboard. The serpent calmed down, while the two riders shared a weary laugh.

Lochmere Serpent

Lochmere Serpent was printed in the famously overpowered 2019 set Throne of Eldraine, notable for having eight cards that were banned in at least one format at some point, with many of them having been banned in Standard and two of them (Once Upon a Time and Oko, Thief of Crowns) being banned in almost every format.

Given the general power level of 2019 standard formats, what does a Big Dumb Fish look like in this context? Or, rather, given that Throne of Eldraine contained a giant sea monster that sacrifices lands, how much of a Big Dumb Fish is that card?

Big: A 7/7 for 6 is not overwhelmingly large, but in a vacuum it is a decent top-end in limited. 4/5

Dumb: Well, it does sacrifice lands. But it's not mandatory to sacrifice lands—if you don't, it's still a vanilla beatstick with some okay built-in recursion. Sacrificing an island to push through 7 damage is decent in limited, although it's too slow for constructed and not impactful enough for Commander formats. Sacrificing a swamp to draw a card, on the other hand, is useful in both limited and Commander. Plus, being able to flash it in while your opponent is tapped out or using it as a mana sink when they haven't been doing anything you want to counter is all upside. While this card is objectively mediocre, it's amazing to see just how far the genre of sea monsters that sacrifice islands has improved over the past twenty-something years. 2/5

Fish: Absolutely. It's a very long fish (given the coils in the background), but still undeniably a fish. 5/5

in the ripe year of 2021, i successfully managed to write three (3) books. let me tell you about them!

Hell or High Water is a survival horror-splatterpunk set on a cruise ship. when a group of killers hijack The Grey Palace and strand it out in the middle of the ocean, the peaceful vacation becomes a fight for everyone’s life when the passengers start being slaughtered by mask-wearing people known as the “Intruders.” the story follows fifteen-year-old Violet Nicotero, the illegitimate daughter to a congressman, and her survival on the ship.

this was originally supposed to be my first published book, but i had to reread it so many times that i started to hate it, so to keep me from going insane, i put it to the side for now.

this one features four (4) motherly figures, like five lesbians, a teenage protagonist that wears crocs the WHOLE TIME, and a whole lot of gore!

Servant of Evil is a historical fiction-religious horror tragedy about the Salem Witch Trials! it follows the point of view of Mary Warren, the servant of John and Elizabeth Proctor, and how she helps kickstart the trials and, ultimately, how those trials slowly destroy her mental health and even her sanity.

this book is SUPER BLEAK, and it contains a lot of dark and heavy subjects. i don’t recommend reading it in a bad headspace. it’ll probably make you feel worse. i literally cried uncontrollably at Several Scenes.

however, it is my favorite work writing-wise! i LOVE the way it’s written, and it was overall really fun to work on!

Fog Makes People is a psychological thriller-mystery with horror elements about a fictional town named Lochmere and the fog that haunts the city. people disappear in this fog, but nobody knows why. sixteen-year-old Beatrice “Bee” Lamb is returning to Lochmere for her junior year of high after going to stay with her cousins for the summer. she was the sole survivor of a terrible fire that killed nine other kids…but everyone is sure that it wasn’t the fire that killed them, but rather the thing in the fog. after all, none of the bodies had any burns on them…and that’s IF the bodies were found at all. Bee’s hoping for a normal school year, but she’s instantly met with harassment once she gets back home, as most people are still convinced she’s an arsonist murderer who started the fire at the barn. what’s worse: she’s getting texts from the kids in the fire, kids that she knows are very, very dead, and they’re begging for her help.

my favorite book story-wise! i LOVE all the characters and the lore and the main villain! this one ALSO made me cry uncontrollably.

currently, Servant of Evil is scheduled to be published first! i’m just waiting for the cover to be finished, and then i can format it, and it’ll finally done!

"Lochmere Serpent" Lochmere and "Castle Vantress sits in the lake Lochmere" Lochmere are the same Lochmere, right? Do the two ever interact?

Lochmere is a single location, IIRC. I’m sure the Knights of Vantress are always trying to prove the Serpent’s existence.

I’ve made a terrible decklist.

If you understand all the references in this, you are just as cursed as I am, and yes every card aside from the Basic Lands (and the Guildgates combine into one reference) has a meaning behind it. I had to cut so many references though to make it to 100 cards. BTW, I tried to make it kind of functional, but honestly this is a theme deck and its not going to entirely fuction perfectly.
