#i visited a rat cafe!! (it is not an eating or drinking establishment it's just a rat interaction establishment but i keep calling it that))#there was another american at the rat cafe and she took me to Dunch cuz it was my birthday and she also wanted to ask me about rat ownershi#note: in my brain Dunch is a meal combo like brunch -- a dinner so early as to overlap lunch -but at a less glamorous time and sounds worse#that was super nice and i think i now have another person on my small list of in person friends here!!! ;w;#then on the way home brief specter of disaster as i was like OH GOD... IVE PARKED IN A RESTRICTED BIKE LOT AND THEY TOWED MY BIKE#(because i had definitely just .. parked my bike in the area for monthly permit holders without noticing lol)#but it turned out instead they had just stuck it in a metered space where it should have gone to begin with so disaster averted lol#then when it was getting late i took myself out for a pot of tea and a fancy sweet at a local cafe! (actual cafe) (no rats)#honestly i'd been mad at myself for not planning anything with any friends and thinking i'd end up depressed and alone today#but i got just enough rat and human interaction and it was a really good day#i did a bunch of other stuff this week too#why did i write all of this in tags? unclear.......i'm extremely tired or i'd try to make a real blog post of it with pics etc. : I#eepy. so eepy

so this oil company rep has been coming around for years and trying to get us to shuffle off so they can plop a drill down on our land right
mf came back about half an hour ago to interrupt our pizza and mst3k festivities
only he drove up to the rural foothills in a fucking pontiac firebird that is now VERY buried in wet clay
you better believe I stood around holding a lantern and ribbing him about it for ten minutes and not helping whatsoever

they should make a rope tow for your backyard that you don't have to build yourself or spend 9k for
#i just want to sled like a lazy person#fr the hill in my yard is sooo steep it's fun to go down but getting back up is awful#i literally have energy to do it like twice#i usually walk the long way around the bottom of the hill and up the road and across the field back to the top of the hill#instead of going straight back up#bc it's a much gentler slope but it's quite a walk#fr there used to be some kind of wacky homemade rope tow with a tractor here at one point but no more#it literally needs one#every friend who has ever come sledding at my house has said in their own wow this hill needs a ski lift#bc its a serious hike back to the top 😂#but it's great to sled down so i keep inviting people#i have some friends coming tomorrow who have never gone sledding here before#and most of them ski so i know they're gonna say something 😂#i'm literally looking into rope tows and they're 9k which is crazy#everyone seems to build their own but i am not that handy of technical minded#but what i am is lazy 😌#and broke#and i think i deserve one anyway <3#i think everyone should have one of these#or they need to invent the hover sled that will fly u back to the top of the hill#it seems like there should be an easy way to get back up tbh#just a rope and a car at the top or something but the car can't drive in a foot of snow lol#but there must be a cheap lazy solution here#there are some people with homemade ones and i think they make back the cost by charging people to use it for skiing#but i literally can't build one and i don't think anyone would pay to ski my hill bc it's a nice steep hill but there's nowhere to go#once you get to the bottom that's it you can just go back to the top and start over#but maybe as a sledding hill some local people might pay a little for that idk#but i dont want a bunch of randos doing that at my house then like suing me if they hit a tree at the bottom lol#but literally the cost of a tow rope makes it impossible even if it was homemade and im not handy anyway#but it would be so nice lol

really gonna need my car insurance company to explain to me why the 24/7 roadside assistance i pay extra for didn't want to send me a tow truck until 8 AM Monday morning when my car was in a ditch
#personal#vent#i am fine as is my car#i ended up calling a local tow company who got there in 30 minutes wrenched my car out and only charged me the flat fee for coming out#which i will still send to my insurance company for a reimbursement for because what the hell??????#i also didn't speak to a single human being#just got a robot phone chain that sent me a link to their roadside assistance request form on their website#which once i indicated i was not in any danger nor blocking traffic apparently decided i could wait until Monday#meanwhile local tow truck guy was super friendly and very helpful in making sure i not only got my car out of the ditch#but also made sure i didn't reverse right back into it again#so good to have one of those that i know are nice reliable and won't overcharge

I am, again, trapped by a car breakdown in rural PA.
This time, no cats with me, and only 4 hours from home.
Tomorrow is the last day of classes and I have office hours (Zoom) in a half hour.
#it's not even the same car#nothing like being in a place the locals call nowhere#and having your roadside assistance say#the nearest tow is 4 hours away because mother's day#and we're not paying for it#so it's your problem now#find something or walk#and the nearest exit is 1.5 miles away#and it's not a town; it's a state park#and you have 6 bags of stuff including books and computers#because you're driving 12 hours back from a conference#and there's no reception but you're supposed to find tow trucks#your insurance can't.#excuse me what#lol anyway I'm trapped in PA at $133/night#and my uber to get to the car shop is $50 *cries*

second round/third (and hopefully last) of the root canals is done!
I'm definitely in pain, but it's a clean kind of pain compared to what i had before. and not as bad.
now to get my wisdom teeth (+ one other beyond saving) out next month
#i might've made a post abt this yesterday?#i honestly don't remember#on the way back from the root canal (the city it was in is like and hour and a half west) we hit a pothole on the edge of a tiny town#and blew the front driver's tire#called roadside and were waiting for like an hour without hearing anything when another driver pulled over to see if he could help#finally got that changed#and were limping the car along to a shop#when the front passenger tire blew#called roadside‚ more waiting‚ trooper stopped to see if he could help us#ended calling the local tow company at about the same time insurance finally reached out to them#i was mostly alseep bc at that point i had been up for 22 hours#but the car got towed to a shop to be dealt with in the morning and a friend gave us a ride to our house#so. Interesting end to our night#now I'm going to go find some painkillers and figure out if i can open my jaw enough to eat#crow.txt#(also re: that first line i had two of them done in the first appointment and made a second for the one in the best condition)#(the first two were my upper left and bottom right‚ this last was my upper right and he didn't want to numb so much of my mouth at once)
