OKAY OKAY OKAY I JUST REALIZED RHIS I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE IS BUT HEAR ME OUT:
So, during the bar scene where Puss and Lobo first meet, after Lobo pulls out Puss' wanted poster, and Puss says "Puss in Boots laughs in the face of death. Bounty Hunter", to which Lobo replies "So I've heard." The above gif is exactly when he says this!!! And if you look at his expression close enough, you can see him trying to repress a glare as he turns to look away from Puss!! It's small, but you can see how his nose scrunches up, how his neutral look immediately turns sour.
You can just FEEL him trying to control his anger, trying to keep it from showing to Puss how much that statement pisses him off. Because he HAD heard Puss say those words. He heard them at probably every single one of Puss' death, he heard them after Puss' EIGHT DEATH. He heard it every. Single. Time. And he'd just heard it again. Right to his fucking face.
He was clearly VERY tempted to want to do or say SOMETHING to Puss to allude to who he was, to get it over with, to just put this arrogent little pussy in his place!! But he didn't.
And right after that, Puss tries to attack Lobo to "get it over with." But Lobo didn't. Lobo waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. And WAITED. Until literally near the third act of the film to reveal to Puss who he was. To finally let all of that anger and frustration out.
And even afterwards when Puss finally accepted his mortality, Lobo gave up the chase. The chase he was ACHING to end, to finally catch his prey and make him suffer for all the bullshit he put him through. But he didn't. He controlled himself, wished Puss well, and left.
10/10 character, everyone. These people knew what they were doing when they made this film.

Details I noticed in The Last Wish pt 4
This is going to go from the cave of lost souls to the end
When jump scared by his past lives in the cave of lost souls, Puss has his claws out as he jumps back
When the bear family is setting up their trap with Perrito, Baby bear says, "I just want to pet him with my teeth." Perrito leans forward, smiles, and wags his tail while looking at Baby's teeth
Goldi's blue corset-eque piece is held up by a brown strap on her right shoulder. It's hard to see tho bc it's under all her jewelry
Papa has a huge scar on his left arm that looks like it could be from the claws marks, maybe from another bear
Goldi death glares at Baby when they're all stuck in the trap while he screams about the bees. She is angry lol
When Puss flashes back to Santa Coloma during the panic attack scene, the colors are warm and it looks like it could be an afternoon on a nice sunny day. When he remembers it in the cave of lost souls, all the colors are cold. Everything's has more blue in it and it looks like a big storm is rolling in. It's an interesting contrast between how it actually was vs how he remembers it
One of the things a past life yells at him as he tries to leave the cave is, "Where's your litter box, Pickles?"
As soon as Puss starts reading the incantation on the map at the wishing star, it starts rising. You can see it in the background when Kitty confronts him, the standoff between all the characters, and even the first part of the battle, until it's all the way in the air
I just love the way Perrito says, "Yeah, I don't know what to do with this" as he gives the map to Puss after the battle lol He genuinely doesn't know why everybody wants it so bad
Every time Death hits his sickles together, his eyes flash white. This happens in Puss' final battle with Death but I believe it also happens in their first fight too
When Puss says he's done running, the shot is actually on Kitty, not Puss
This happens throughout the whole movie but whenever two objects hit each other, there's a spikey comic-esque collision shape like in Spiderverse. Puss kicking the cups of milk into the crowd in the opening song, Death kicking him in the final fight, everywhere in between, it adds to the digital drawing style and fast pace
When Death cuts Puss' boots, red flames come out of the slash
When Puss uses the gatito blade to block the scythes, it plays Kitty's theme in the music
In the wide shot when Death is stalking up to Puss after he tells him to pick up the scythe, the foreground is shimmering in the heat of the flames
When Perrito says, "Oh, I was just buying some time for Team Friendship." Jack immediately goes, "Team what?" which I think is a perfectly reasonable response to hearing that name lol
As the star collapses in on itself, Puss picks Perrito up while they all run to the edge. I guess his legs were too short to make it in time by himself lol
When Jack says, "What did I do to deserve this??" as he dies, Puss shakes his head and Kitty rolls her eyes. They're the only two who aren't 'scared but can't look away.' It makes sense tho bc they have the most experience with Jack and know exactly what he did to deserve this lol
The lady listing to the Commodore all the stuff she packed for him as they walk out to the boat looks tired and annoyed. When she sees that Puss stole his boat, however, she looks ecstatic. She does not like her boss and wants him to suffer as much as possible
Part one, Part two, Part three, Part five

Puss: Kiss me!!
Death: Now??!!! Do you think this would help us with the situation at hand?!!!!!
Puss: Probably not. But if you ended having to do your job and sent me to the pits of Hell, at least I'll have a sweet memory to take me company.

Something that has been running through my head a lot since I’ve watched the movie “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” is a question that I’ve seen nearly everyone ask, or if not ask outright, then at least wonder themselves:
Why is Death’s form a wolf?
Now, many people have deduced that the reason is because Puss is a cat and cats are afraid of dogs, so Death appears as a wolf to him because he’s essentially a more vicious dog. And while that works for the Shrek universe where myths, superstitions, fairy tales, and nursery rhymes are real, I don’t think it’s that simple.
Think about it, if you were to create a unique version of Death, you would have to go outside of what nearly every depiction of Death looks like: A skeleton in a large black hooded robe wielding a large scythe. And the artists of the film did a great job making adjustments to this form while also paying homage to this common imagery of Death; giving him a twin sickles which are the younger sibling of the scythe, giving him a black hooded cloak instead of a black hooded robe, and making him tall and imposing, and creepy through his voice and mannerisms, not just because he’s a skeleton.
But then, the question still remains: why is he a wolf? Now, my theory is that ontop of the obvious that wolves are pack animals that hunt down their prey relentlessly (just as Death relentlessly hunts down Puss), canines are VERY prominent in many cultures either as Death, or associated with Death somehow:
Anubis is the god of the Underworld in Egyptian mythology, and is depicted with a dog head
Xolotl is the god of fire and lightning that is depicted as a dog-headed man that was also a guide to souls of the dead in Aztec mythology
Cerberus is the three-headed dog that guards the Underworld in Greek mythology
Huodou is depicted as a large black dog that can emit fire from its mouth and is seen as an ominous symbol in minority groups in southern China.
Romulus and Remus were fed by a she-wolf in Roman mythology
Sköll and Hati are the eaters of the moon and sun during Ragnarok in Norse mythology.
And even in Christian religion during the end of times, Death is the only figure to not be depicted as a human.
In other words, there are PLENTY of stories where wolves or dogs are involved with death or ominous events in some way in varying forms of mythology. There are probably also ones that I have missed, so please feel free to add them or correct me on any!
And Jack Horner introduced the idea of different mythologies being a part of the universe when he referenced King Midas during his introduction in the movie, so it makes sense that Death takes on the form of a canine. And is a wolf because wolves are hunters, and are the ancestor of dogs.
Another thing is that there are several fairytales where there was a wolf as the main villain (Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, The Boy Who Cried Wolf), so making a more intense version of him for this story just fits the fairytale theme of the Shrek universe too.
I have no idea if this is what the actual inspiration for Death being a wolf actually came from this, but it makes sense to me?

Someone should make a story Death x Y/n angst where death loses the reader in a battle field and death become delusional that they’re still alive.
