@inseparableduo || Plotted
It was just another disturbance call on a late night shift - something practically every cop was sick to the back teeth of dealing with by now; weekends especially. Just another report of teens hanging out where they shouldn't be.
I'll get this.
No one had argued her offer, despite the protectiveness some of the officers had shown ever since she'd come back to the force.
Sure. Call me if you need anything.
She only nods in response; before departing.
Once a the scene, something immediately begins to strike her as odd. There not the drunken laughter or the arguing she'd expect from someone reporting trespassing teens. That, in of itself, she could have dismissed - figuring the teens had simply moved on by the time she got there. Yet, it's not as though this alley was empty. She can hear scuffling, ragged breathing. It sounds like someone's trying to scamper away, but it's pitch black - no trace of the light of a cell phone or cigarette.
One hand reaches to take the flashlight from her tool belt, the other rests on the side of her handgun. It's a perfect place for an ambush.
"Police here. Anyone out there?" She calls out - not to harsh as to try and scare, but firm enough to assert her authority.
Her flashlight scans the area briefly as she continues to announce herself, giving whoever it was enough time to come out on their own terms. The light catches the reflection of a tin sheet, and she hears a gasp. She thinks she can catch a glimpse of someone beneath it - if not...two?
The flashlight is swiftly directed back to underneath the makeshift shelter. Children. A pair of them - siblings, maybe? ( Judging by the similarities in their appearance, anyways. ) Her right hand is taken off her handgun as she crouches down to get a better look.
The metal rattles. She's not sure if it's the wind, or one of them trembling against it.
Tumblr media
"Hey- you two alright? You can come out of there - you're not in any trouble"
Even if they turned out to just be drunken kids again - she'd just send them home.
But a sinking feeling in her chest was telling her this wasn't the case.

"welcome to the north, your grace."
it was strange, dacey thought, how the chain of events set in motion by the dance had changed both their lives so dramatically. dacey had been born a daughter of house stark, a lady of the north, but in her brother gaining a crown, she had found herself a princess, even if she still wore the title awkwardly. in contrast, aemma had once been a sister to a monarch, and though she retained her title of princess, the line of succession had moved away from her line, to her cousins who now sat in king's landing. it served as a reminder ; how quickly their fortunes could change.
"i hope you aren't finding it too uncomfortable. it always takes me a little while to adjust to the heat in the south," her tone was apologetic - she wasn't sure why. it wasn't as though dacey stark had the ability to control the weather.
but she liked aemma targaryen. dacey was not a woman who made friends easily, always feeling a little out of place wherever she went, but though that self-conscious feeling had not disappeared with aemma, it was lessened somewhat.
"i was glad to hear that you and your brother had made the journey."

@faethn // plotted
In the northernmost part of District Four there was a house that sat on the coast. The house was somewhat isolated and had its own dock into the bay. It was an old house, rundown and in need of repairs. But it was livable, and the boat that sat in the water at the dock was immaculate. Kennedy made sure of that.
The same way they'd made sure that the inside of the house was as clean as possible for today's visitor.
It was terrifying, the idea that a Capitol official was coming to their house to talk to them. About the crab shortage!
They understood that their father had been one of the best crab fishermen in four, that he would often have these sorts of meetings with various officials about whatever was going on... But Kennedy had never been allowed to sit in on these meetings. When he'd died, he'd left no instructions, just the legacy that they were supposed to uphold.
They wait anxiously on the rickety front porch of their home, dressed warmly against the chill in the air. They'd been pacing for nearly an hour now and had decided that was probably a bad look. They'd taken a seat on the old porch swing, hands held tightly together.
Hopefully that Capitol man would be here soon, and then be gone soon so they could get on with their day.

@riipperdoc
He hadn't been to a ripper in a while. Yeah, yeah. To his own detriment, he knew. With everything feeling like it was practically disintegrating around him, however, his health had definitely taken a backseat to everything else.
There enters V, who would one day end up mentioning his personal ripper. Dr. Vik Vektor. A pretty chill dude with a clinic all the way in Little China. Wasn't his usual scene anymore, but... well, it sure as fuck was better than pouring eddies into the pocket of some corp sellout. So, Kerry had taken the number offered to him and decided he'd think on it.
That would all culminate into calling the clinic using a voice changer and a private number one day. He hadn't gotten back to having his staff around him all the time anymore, so he just took the act upon himself. Placing the phone on speaker, Kerry would wait patiently, hoping for an answer, despite the lack visible number.

location: anika and reid's apartment time: right after the witch rescue who: @anikabooker
His muscles are screaming at him as he pulls his bike to a stop out front of the old apartment building he had discovered in his research. It wasn't overly difficult to find her, even if Anika had asked for space. Book has been doing this long enough to know how to follow tracks, especially when they're trying to be hidden.
Alejo's gruesome death, followed by the attack on Graver's Isle has left him shaken, paranoid. It brings back memories of that awful night, walking in to blood and body parts flung all over. The witches aren't as bloodthirsty as vampires are, and not all of them can rip bodies to shreds, but a cold pit of fear has settled in his stomach that he can't shake.
The losses tonight are too many, and when Valka dismisses them to get some rest, Book knows that he will not sleep tonight. Not until he is reassured that these last few weeks haven't been some sort of fucked up nightmare. His legs carry him to the apartment number he scribbled down and starts to bang on the door with his fist.
"Ani, it's me. Open the door," he says, trying to keep his voice steady, despite the fact that he still looks like an utter mess. The injuries he sustained tonight weren't life-threatening, but each breath caused enough pain for him to know that his ribs would need even more time to heal. "Open the door, damn it," he growls, desperation leeching in.

Semi-plotted starter for @theonlytwoalive.
Planning a wedding was the most stressful thing Saskia had ever done, and if someone had warned her beforehand she probably would've waited a few years before doing it. But she and Theo didn't want to wait to be married, at least then they didn't have to worry about parents getting in the way.
She knew her wedding day was supposed to be the "happiest day of her life" but pacing around the small room in the church, she couldn't help but feel anxious. She peeked out the door to see all of her family and friends, along with Theo's family and friends, all talking amongst themselves and excited for the wedding.
Her eyes looked over to the altar to see if she could get a peek at Theo, the only person she knew could calm her down. She hadn't seen him in a couple days, as was tradition to not see each other until they were exchanging vows but she missed them awfully.
Closing the door again, she adjusted the train of her dress as best as she could before one of her bridesmaids stepped in to help. Her father walked in, tapping his watch. "It's time, kiddo."

@worldweavr sent a plotted starter:
Positioning his body to launch into a triple sal, Yuri Plisetsky kept one weary eye on the entrance to the ice rink. He still wasn’t sure how he was feeling about Victor’s return, so he’d opted to try not to think of it at all…
Which wasn’t really working.
“Yura! Sloppy spin - do it again!” Yakov’s voice snapped him back into the present and Yuri grimaced, taking a breath before repeating the spin, but by the time he’d looked back at Yakov to see the coach’s reaction, the old man was focused on something else… someone else.
The familiar timber of Victor Nikiforov filled the ice rink, and Yuri fougt to keep his expression neutral. The legend was back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be back on the ice in Russia felt like revisiting an old friend, or returning to a childhood home. This would be Viktor's last season, no doubt. As a professional, he didn't have much left. He was young by most accounts, but in the realm of professional skating, he had nearly reached the ceiling. The cutoff of 30 was looming over his head, and two years simultaneously felt like no time at all, and yet far too much.
Even more than age weighing him down, he had the pull of dissatisfaction. He would be nothing if he couldn't impress his crowd, but there were only so many tricks one person could pull. After over 10 years of finding new ways to keep people on their toes, he worried he'd run dry. But the appeal of competing, even just once, against the up and coming skaters he'd inspired was tempting. He had coached both Yuuri Katsuki and Yuri Plisetsky, and after seeing their close finish in the championships last season, he still desired to test himself against them, aware as he was that he was at risk of losing now more than ever. Perhaps it would be a whimper that his career ended on as opposed to a bang, but would that not be surprising in itself? (Not that he intended to give in without a fight, mind you.)
He drew in a deep breath, the air tempered by the cool ice, as he skated out onto the ice, where Yuri was already practicing. “Yurioo~!” he greeted, his voice echoing across the rink. He stopped sharply beside him, waving a hand to his old coach as well. “And Yakov, of course. I'll only need a minute to warm up.” It had been a bit since he'd been on the ice, though one would be hard-pressed to claim him rusty after the short break.

closed starter for @romanticlcver | abe & UTP based on this
He couldn't believe it was his high school's ten-year reunion. In truth, Abe almost didn't go. After all the bad experiences he had, from the bullying to the teasing to the fighting, all Abe could think was that those people would still make fun of him. But after his little sister somehow managed to convince him to suck it up (saying "Everyone's all grown-up now. No one would laugh at you."), he decided to go.
Stepping into the high school gymnasium, Abe was hit with a terrible sense of dreadful nostalgia. He fought the urge to bolt out of there and miraculously, his feet stepped further in. Before making it to the punch bowl, Abe managed to say hi to a few familiar faces. But then suddenly he felt his blood run cold at the person calling for his attention--the very person who made his life a living hell all those years ago.
"Oh, uh h-hey. Yea, it's good to see you, too."

@theseance444 + CONTINUED FROM HERE
Sat at a booth in a dark corner of the bar glass of whisky in hand, Cha-Cha had been watching Klaus like a hawk well before the venue closed. Her head occupied only by thoughts of revenge for the trouble he had caused her, she had followed him from the bar. She had watched him walk into the convenience store and followed suit.
The door chimed as it opened; it was a happy kind of sound, a contrast to the frustration that Cha-Cha was feeling. It was infuriating really, that such a pathetic man had caused her so many issues as of late. Stepping into the convenience store she quickly surveyed her surroundings; empty aside from her and her target. And aside from the employee behind the counter but if he got caught in the cross fire then so be it. For a moment there’s a sense of calm, a silence broken only by the sound of an upbeat pop song playing over the store’s speakers.
Wasting no time, she briskly walked down isle between shelves. Clenching her fists, it doesn’t take long for her to corner him in the back of the store. This time there was nowhere for him to run.
“Should’ve thought of that before you stole from the motel room.”
With no hesitation she took a step forward and in one fluid movement drove her first towards his face with a solid punch.
“Oh so you think you’re in the position to be making threats.”

Cairo was aware when the councilman of Israel made his return as much as he had been when he left. A lot of things had been different then. Cairo was different. Less confident in who he was and his abilities, though they were also different. He supposed that meant a lot was the same in how much he kept to himself. Always holding back more of himself than he gave. The only things he ever openly shared were those he couldn't keep. Things Gideon would find out, like him not being a medium since now he had a heart beat, lost his neko spirit, and was mortal. Granted his abilities as a witch at this point and expertise in necromancy made killing him rather hard in comparison to a normal human, but he wasn't as impervious as he used to be. It also caused things like a dampness of sweat on his hands and brow. He wasn't nervous. Not someone of his pedigree. Even if he was facing a councilman was far older than himself.
The witch made his way to Gideon's suite seeing said man getting the last of his things moved in. He was still on the clock so was dressed in a full suit, light gray, blue stripped tie that brought out the natural hue of his eyes, which made no hesitation in drawing up a body he still remembered fondly. "Hope you're settling in, Mr. Rechter. Glad we could accommodate you once more. Let me know if you have any questions about the castle's security. Your safety is my priority."

Noah arrived at the mayoral ball, his eyes scanning the crowd for Dante. He adjusted his tie, feeling a bit out of place among the glittering gowns and sharp tuxedos. It probably didn’t help that he didn’t know many of the guests in attendance. As he made his way through the throng of people, he wasn't paying attention to where he was going. Out of nowhere, he collided with someone, nearly knocking them over. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" he said, reaching out to steady the person he'd bumped into. "Are you alright? I wasn't watching where I was going."
As he looked up to meet the person's eyes, he froze. Recognition dawned on him, and he felt like he'd been transported back in time. "Gwen?" he asked, his voice a mix of surprise and disbelief. It was her. Gwen, Ellie's best friend from high school. He hadn't seen her in years, not since... well, Ellie’s funeral, but he wasn’t going to think about that sad day. His mind raced, memories flooding back. Feeling awkward, he cleared his throat—trying to find the right words. "I... wow. It's been a long time," he said, his hand still on her arm from when he'd steadied her. He quickly dropped it, feeling awkward. "How have you been?"

Tumblr media
Kye was making his rounds at the mayoral ball, scanning the crowd for familiar faces when his gaze landed on a face he’d always looked forward to seeing. Josephine. He felt his breath catch in his throat as he took in her appearance. His jaw dropped a bit. Damn, she looked ethereal in the dress she had on. They'd spoken about giving their marriage a fair shot, and while he wanted to ask her to come with him to this event, he'd refrained from doing so. A part of him was still skittish, but now that they were both here, he figured he could at least chat her up—she was his wife, after all.
Pushing aside his reservations, he approached her from behind, a charming smile spreading across his face. "You look beautiful this evening," he said as he positioned himself in front of her, his eyes roaming over her appreciatively. Despite his best efforts to remain detached, he couldn't deny the flutter in his chest at her proximity. "Did you come alone?" His gaze lingered on her pretty face a little too long, drinking in the sight of her.

location: tideview university time: wednesday night who: @reidhalstead
She's exhausted and it's late. The library has largely cleared out by this point except for the few stragglers, equipped with their numerous cans of caffeinated beverages and energy drinks. There's a certain frenetic, yet sleepy energy that emerges at this hour and Jac knows it's probably time for her to head out.
She waves at the security guard stationed at the circulation desk, pulling out a chocolate chip cookie in a ziploc bag for him, to help him get through his shift. Baking was cathartic for her, or sometimes she just liked doing things with her hands. It helps to calm the racing thoughts in her brain, and she's only thankful that Lara doesn't actually need sleep so she doesn't accidentally wake her roommate with her 3am cookie sprees.
Jac tightens the straps of her backpack as she leaves the building, and a smile crosses her face as she sees a familiar blonde head at the bottom of the steps and she goes down to meet him. "Hey," she chirps. She digs into her bag and pulls out another cookie, only slightly squashed, and she holds it out for Reid to take. "I couldn't sleep last night," she said with a sheepish smile. It's not uncommon for her to show up with baked goods, either for her students or for other people she runs into. Strangers tend to be a little less mean when sugar was involved.
"How was your day?" she asked as she began walking by his side towards the part of campus that would take her to the bus stop. Apparently longboarding this late at night was frowned upon. "Or night, I guess? Anyone causing a ruckus?"
