ok so. lanterns. they're split into groups ("corps") by color, and there's a corps for each color of the rainbow + black (white lanterns exist, but there aren't enough for them to be a "corps" because as far as I know only 1 person has ever become a white lantern). each color represents a specific emotion, and each lantern ring is powered by that emotion. there's also oaths that each lantern corps has that sorta....outlines what they're all about. they recite the oaths out loud to power up their ring, and they're sooooo cool :]

green lanterns are basically a massive, multi-galactic military force where each member is assigned a "sector" of space to defend, and they're bossed around by these little blue dudes called guardians. their power rings are fueled by willpower, and their oath is "In brightest day, in blackest night / No evil shall escape my sight / Let those who worship evil's might / Beware my power...Green Lantern's light"

red lanterns are fueled by rage, and their oath is "With blood and rage and crimson red / Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead / Together with our hellish hate / We'll burn you all - that is your fate"

pink/violet lanterns (called star sapphires) are powered by love, and their oath is "For hearts long lost and full of fright / For those alone in blackest night / Accept our ring and join our fight / Love conquers all - with violet light"

blue lanterns are powered by hope, and their oath is "In fearful day, in raging night / With strong hearts full, our souls ignite / When all sees lost in the War of Light / Look to the stars - for hope burns bright"

white lanterns are literally. life. and as white, they contain all the colors of the spectrum, so they're SUPER powerful. their oath is just "Life"

there's a few more corps (yellow, orange, black, indigo) but I don't know as much about them and also I wanna tell you about the lanterns in the 911 au

so eddie is a green lantern, and his duties in space took him away from shannon and chris a lot (basically the same as canon except he's fighting a space war instead of a war overseas) and I don't know exactly how this all happens yet but.....eddie becomes a red lantern at some point. maybe after shannon dies. and the thing about red lanterns is that they can't take off their rings. the red lantern power is so destructive and volatile that they'll literally burn to a crisp if they try and take off their ring so it's like. they're trapped in a cycle of anger and pain that is both self-inflicted (they made the conscious choice to put on the ring) but is also out of their control because they can't take it off and break the cycle. (I go soooooooooo insane over red lanterns every day and its no surprise that my favorite gl:tas character is in fact. a red lantern.*) but the ONLY way for a red lantern to take off his ring and break free from the cycle of self destruction is if a blue lantern is there to help them !! because what better to heal anger than hope !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway I'm thinking about blue lantern chris and red lantern eddie on this fine bright morning. I'm even thinking about commissioning artwork from someone because the brainrot is SO strong

*that character in question is SO <3!!! he suffered a HUGE amount of loss and trauma and in turn was recruited for the red lantern corps (the bad guys in gl:tas) because of how much rage and pain he had inside him. and throughout the series he ends up forcibly joining the found family of protagonists (they kidnapped him <333 literally <33) and coming to realize that his anger and trauma is so incredibly real and valid but that he was using it to hurt others and contribute to an unjust cause that only resulted in spreading more anger and pain and trauma for everyone around him, and by the end of the series he becomes a blue lantern because his character has shifted from being motivated by pure rage to pure HOPE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ugh I love he <333

WINTER i am eating this concept UP!!!!

first of all, the whole lantern corps thing and the different traits for each color is fascinating to me. in fact, i was so captivated that i've already started watching gt:las (partly so that i could better understand the emotional magnitude of the choices you're making for the 911 au and partly because i. well. i wanted to know more about it so that i could think about how to smash the teen wolf characters into this framework).

but second of all, thinking about eddie and red lanterns and being trapped in a cycle of anger and pain (especially in the context of, like, eddie's character arc in 911, and his pain and anger and trauma and then the therapy and the healing of generational trauma) is SOOOOO.... *screams incoherently* and then. on top of everything else. blue lantern chris.....!!!!

anyway, i can't wait to hear more about this.

Narnia OCs Time!!

It's the my Narnia's babies time! Since it seems like we're all in this mood, I thought it was a good moment to introduce them! (Special thanks to @andromedalestrange and @randomestfandoms-ocs for some fcs, I was getting crazy so thank you darlings!)

Also two little things I feel the need to tell: it's been a while since the last time I read the Chronicles (so don't yell at me pls) and! Whumpmas in July 2024 - Day 1: (Re) Introduce Yourself!

Howdy, folks! I'm Deedoo! I've been a whump enjoyer for as long as I can remember, though I didn't know there was a term or community for it until somewhere in mid-2023, when I somehow stumbled across a whump fic, found the terms and tags, and the rest was history.

I'm a professionally trained artist who almost never draws (woops), though I sure do like to think about it. I got bitten hard by the writing bug a few years back, and that's been my main creative outlet for a while. I write all kinds of things, and am currently working on a (non-whump) fantasy series that I daydream about potentially publishing one day.

In terms of whump content, I have a WIP whump fic called "We Are TroubleD"! Right now there are several entries up, but they're miscellaneous entries written for a previous whump event that may or may not eventually find their ways into the proper canon story. I'm just having fun with it for now while I write the main story!

Here's a little more about me for those who might be interested:

🤍 Favorite season: Fall probably... I love the leaves, the colors on the trees, and of course Halloween! ... But ahhh, spring is so good too because you can go outside after a long cold winter and the flowers are blooming... It's so hard to pick just one season!

❤️ Average amount of sleep: 8 hours hopefully! My sleep schedule is all kinds of goofed up though haha

💚 Dream Job: Something where I can make art (or something that makes me feel creatively fulfilled), pays me well, and doesn't drive me into the ground due to exhaustion and/or long hours (beyond what I can handle).

🤍 Blog established date: Nov 23rd, 2023! Or at least that's when I reblogged my first ever post on here. I'm not quite sure how to check when I actually made this blog!

❤️ Username/blog meaning: I originally wanted to call my self "Whumpty-Dumpty" like "Humpty Dumpty", but that name was already taken, so I went with "Whumpy-Dumpty-Doo" like "Scooby-Doo", and specifically the show "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!"! That theme song frequently plays in my head because of this blog. That's also why the line in my profile asks "Who whumped you?". Now you can sing along with me!

💚 Hobbies: Drawing, crafting, writing, playing video games, watching youtube, and walking!

🤍 What you love about whump: The power dynamics, the struggles, the vulnerabilities, the comfort and care (I ultimately want the whumpees to have happy or at least neutral endings!), and the journey that the whumpees take to overcome, hold on, and survive their traumas. Things can get so emotional, and sometimes it's through the deepest and darkest horrors that you can see the brightest lights at the end of it all.

Plus, the community is so creative!! I love how so much of the whumpsphere is made up of original stories, characters, and art. So many people churn out consistently amazing stuff, and it blows me away.

... Also I'm a sucker for any character who is bound and gagged. It's a freaking weakness. Sue me lmao.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

at this point i would say the main one is stranger things. i tend to only be able to successfully write for one fandom at a time apparently lol. but i imagine i'll dip my toes back into merlin one day.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

you looking at me, looking at you (steddie) / run your fingers through my hair (steddie) / eat me alive (steddie) / when the party's over (gallavich!!) / you want it straight from the heart (steddie)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

i do! most or try my best to. often in the first week-ish after posting something, and i do sincerely try to respond to every comment but i've fallen behind on that a lot recently.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

this is a hard question to answer because i literally have thrived off of angst, specifically in the merlin fandom, for many years. i think i'll say winter always turns to spring which is a canon compliant merlin/will fic i wrote that has a tinge of....unrequited feelings, which is probably what bumps it up into the most sad.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

is it bad that i don't write a lot of "traditional" happy endings? i kind of make them work to get there lol. bittersweet my beloved. i would say my hairdresser steve au is the most lighthearted thing i've written with a happy ending?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

not really! i've gotten the occasional weird ass comment that i'm sure the commenter THOUGHT was "kind" but i've kind of side-eyed.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i do! i don't think i'm very good at it & it takes me ages when i do. i guess all kinds??? love it when they're pathetic and desperate iykwim.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

not often, but i have a steddie btvs au i am slowly percolating on.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i'm aware of! but i doubt it, even then lol.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes! there was a merlin translation fest a while back, and my merwill fic, winter always turns to spring was translated into portuguese!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

no..........but mona & i have been percolating some thoughts..............................................monaaaaaaa.........is this a sign................?

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

this is such a hard question !!! i think i have to say at this moment in time it's steddie. they truly just scratch all the shippy itches for me. honourable mention tho to merthur, who have had my soul in some way or another for 10+ years.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i have this shameless canon divergence fic. the summary i wrote describes it best: "When Ian was 3, his birth father Clayton Gallagher and his wife Lucy were granted full custody, ripping Ian away from the only family he had ever known. Fifteen years later, Ian has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is looking for answers. Here, he reconnects with Fiona and Lip, his brother and sister who watched him be taken. Ian also meets his brother’s friend, Mickey, who conveniently is the guy Ian has been meeting in bars and dark alleys for the past few weeks."

part of me wishes i could go back and finish it, but i haven't written for gallavich in so long & i have so many other fics for other fandoms i'm more inclined to finish first. i guess never say never, but i also don't know when the time for it would be. alas.

16. What are your writing strengths?

how dare anyone make me talk positively about myself....sigh. ok. i think i'm good at character tone/voice. the way characters speak has always come pretty easily to me, and so i'm often most proud of my dialogue. i think it's why a lot of my fics often are dialogue heavy & have people working out problems together.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

does my own brain count? i feel like i can be repetitive in my descriptors of things. everything is "says softly" or "he smiles" or "he laughs" etc. my brain tells me every single goddamn sentence has to be Unique or something, and then i get in my head about Everything. it's the worst !!!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i haven't ever done it! not sure how i would go about it tbh! i don't speak any other languages other than english, so i would be hesitant to put any other language in a fic of mine because i would have to rely on google translate or something.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

HMMM. if i'm really honest, probably peter pan when i was like. 10. then it was icarly LMAO. all on ff.net babeyyyy

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

hands down, fields of gold. i consider it to be my merlin magnum opus of sorts, my eternal love letter to the show. i took 2 years to write it, and genuinely no joke some of the aspects/themes of that fic date back to headcanons/meta i wrote in 2012. so. i poured a lot of my heart into that fic, and i hope it shows.

Shadowhunters, and more broadly speaking The Mortal Instruments. My first real fandom!!! I cannot overstate the impact the books and show had on my life. I wouldn't be who I am without it. I have an angelic rune tattoo. Magnus and Alec are some of the first queer characters I remember reading about. I remember where I was when they kissed for the first time in the show. You stupid nephilim lives rent free in my brain. This show (and the books) truly set up the trajectory my life is on now, and I will always always remember it fondly. Even with all the drama and discourse.

2. Critical Role, specifically C2. My first true obsession after the decade long Shadowhunters debacle. I stumbled into it to learn how to play D&D (which I now know is a controversy in and of itself lmao). But my friend @midnightellis wanted us to start a game, and I needed a way to learn that wasn't reading the books, so I started C2. It took 11 or 12 episodes, but then I fell in love. I spent the next almost year watching the entirety of C2 which culminated in visiting them to watch the finale together. I was extremely jetlagged. It was basically 8 amazing hours of nonstop crying. I have zero regrets. Except for the fact I still need to get the tattoo I had planned rip. One day!! I promise!!

3. Arcane!!!! A brief interlude between Shadowhunters and CR. There was about 4 months were I was OBSESSED and watched the entire show like 3 times back to back. I have many thoughts and feelings about Jayce. The show is also just so visually stunning. I cannot wait for S2 to drop in November!!!!!! I know nothing about League but I do really love this show.

4. House. Iconic. What else needs to be said? House is very much a comfort show for me; great to rewatch during the winter. I've watched the entire thing almost three times now, and even got my mom hooked lol. It was fun seeing all her reactions to everything before I moved.

5. If I had known what fandom was when this was airing, I truly would have been all over that shit. But I was 8 and didn't have access to the internet. Aang/Katara def my first otp lol. I did, however, ignore a friend that was over at my house to watch the finale, I believe. I definitely told them to go play so I could watch the show uninterrupted. Needless to say, they were not thrilled with that. I'm 90% sure it was the finale now, but I could be wrong about the episode. ATLA is also another comfort show that I could watch over and over again.

6. Shadow and Bone. I am still SICKENED this got canceled. Genya and David are the ultimate romance, and no one will convince me otherwise. I almost stopped reading when I found out his fate. I was devastated. Everyone in this show is also very pretty. I can't believe we won't get a s3.

I'm going to stop here because this is already long enough, and tbh I'm not sure I actually have four more shows. I can only be obsessed with one thing at a time, and the current obsession is Path of Night. And that does not seem to be waning any time soon.

Edit: Lost should 100% be on this list. I think I've watched it at least four times. My family and I watched it live as it was airing when I was a kid. And it still is one of my favorite shows. I know people got beef with the ending but I truly didn't mind it. Even if it's bad or whatever, I think Lost is still 100% worth watching. There are so many little hints and clues that I pick up something different every time, and each character death hits just as hard.

Firstly, I want to say that I’ve read all of the fan-fictions that were published here since the first day of this blog being even created. I monitor the food fantasy tag every single day because I’m really starving for any content dedicated to this game like a wild hungry animal so when I saw this blog I was so happy! I felt such a pure sense of joy that I almost cried out loud lmao. Thank you for your hard work! Love this blog.

And secondly. If it’s okay, can I request like any work with Whisky x reader? I’d want it to be fluffy, romantic and sweet but that’s literally Whisky so it’s pretty hard to write something normal with him… That’s why I don’t want to put limits on you. Just do as you wish about everything. I just want to read anything about this crazy man.

Synopsis: Autumn was just around the corner when you and Whiskey decided to take a walk. It was mostly his idea; after seeing you busying yourself with restaurant preparations, he thought that you deserved a small break from your duties and spend some time with him... But is that really all he's after? The leaves of most trees began to change colour and fall, cluttering the cobblestone streets with signs that winter was next to appear. The days throughout the week were cloudy, but today that was not the case.

"It's a perfect day to take a walk, wouldn't you say?"

Whiskey had invited himself into your quarters that morning, pulling you away from your work. You raised a brow at him, questioning what exactly he wanted from you to prompt him to ask such a thing out of the blue. He feigned a look that suggested he was hurt by your words, even putting a hand over his chest to express something akin to heartache.

"My Attendant, you wound me. Can't someone simply ask you to step away from your work and get some fresh air? I hear today is a wonderful time for that."

You look out a window to see for yourself. He was right about that, and you felt all the more suspicious about him. But then, what harm would it do to step away from your desk for a while? Nothing specific struck you as odd.

Eventually, you just sighed and gave in. "Alright, alright. I guess I wouldn't mind stretching my legs anyway."

To your surprise, Whiskey had already prepared your jacket and shoes, as well as a scarf you found unfamiliar. "Whiskey," you say, taking it and looking at him. "This isn't mine."

He smiles. "Of course it isn't. But you can have it, if you'd like." When you ask him what he meant by that, he ignores your query and gingerly takes the scarf from your hands. He then proceeds to wrap it around your neck.

"Ah- Whiskey, I can do it myself..." You mumble.

"Of course you can," he replies.

You huff as you begrudgingly let Whiskey assist you in getting ready to go out. It was as if you were a toddler. But the way he treated you so far was unusually soft...

You pushed back your train of thought as soon as Whiskey put his hand on the door's knob and escorted you out first. "After you," he motions with a slight bow. You nod and exit the restaurant, Whiskey closing the door when the two of you are outside.

After a while of walking, you found yourself less tense... Well actually, you only really knew that because Whiskey pointed it out to you. He would mention several things about you as the two of you ventured out into the chilly autumn day. Fallen leaves crunching under your feet and the occasional attempts at conversation were the only things you really heard.

Eventually, Whiskey's words got increasingly flattering, and you halted in the middle of the side walk just to ask, "Whiskey, what is up with you today? What you're saying... you don't really mean that, so what are you trying to do?"

He stops as well, turning to you and pushing up his glasses. "My Attendant, do you really think I'm up to no good?" His expression doesn't falter when you nod. "Ah... I see." He continues walking and you can't help but call after him.

"Hey! You didn't answer my question!" You half-run to catch up beside him; he's quite the fast walker, and the only reason why you didn't notice was because he'd been slowing down his pace to match your casual stride. "Whiskey, tell me straight. First you're entering my quarters and asking me to walk with you, then you help me get ready, which, you know I can definitely do on my own, and now you're complimenting me." Now that you said it all out loud you kind of felt embarrassed, your face warming.

"It almost feels like you're trying to ask me out or something." But that's silly, because it's Whiskey and he doesn't like anyone that way, nevermind just liking people in general.

"And what if I am?" He says nonchalantly. Whiskey stops walking again when you fall slightly behind him.

"Huh?" You stare at him. He's probably joking.

Without warning Whiskey leans closer to your face, a small smirk appearing on his face as he repeats himself, "And what if I am?"

Absolutely flabberghasted and speechless you are.

The audacity of this man.

You can't believe him, and yet you can at the same time. Maybe he was being genuine. You weren't really sure. It is Whiskey though, so no one would blame you for not being sure. But in your chest your heart sped up, your face warmed, and, despite the chill in the air, your hands started to sweat. Your mouth opened and closed as if to say something, but you remained tongue-tied as Whiskey chuckled lowly at your reaction.

He steps back from you to let you relax and ponders aloud, "Could it be that you finally believe me now, My Attendant?"

You believe him.

i usually do, simply because i love interaction between fics. besides, whenever someone takes their time to say that they liked my fic, to me, it's simply polite to respond and at the very least say "thank you".

it's a short oneshot titled "Yesterday", which is an alternative (angstier) take on the outcome of the duel in bttf part 3.

honestly? "Until I Get Home". it was angsty overall, but the ending is super satisfying and happy, you can take my word for it.

not that i know of, no.

i'm not into crossovers, really. the only crossover i have on my ao3 is "The Weight Of Us", a fic taking elements from this year's "Oppenheimer" movie.

the first chapter of my fic "14 Scraps Of Paper" was copy-pasted onto a wattpad book like one and a half years ago, but nothing has happened since.

technically, quite a few of my fics exist in two languages, because i personally write them in german and translate them. but no one has ever translated a fic into another language.

i have, yep! quite a few of my ao3 fics are roleplays, meaning that two people (or sometimes more) have been invloved in writing it. "The Me You Knew" is also a collab work.

i am not a shipper lol. marty/jen is always great, but i'm not into ships in general.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i want and will do this in the future! it's specifically planned for my "Trinity"-threequel, but might happen befoore!

19. first fandom you wrote for?

i never published it, but i recently found a Super Mario fanfic from when i was like 9. it actually had a decent plot, i was surprised with myself lmao

20. favorite fic you've ever written?

this is HARD. but really, i adore "Most People Were Silent" in a way that i don't adore any of my other fics, because i allowed myself to play with original ideas and characters. the result was a super niche bttf fic, but i love it so much.

I saw @serenity-the-firefly do this “nine books I want to read this year” tag and decided to join in (so thank you for the inspiration Lucy!☺️) - I’ve been getting into reading more recently and this seems like a great way of reminding myself to pick up those books I just keep meaning to get to…

1. Carrying the Fire, by Michael Collins (I borrowed this from my dad to read literally years ago oops, I think I’ve put it off because I’m not generally a fan of memoir-type stuff, but I’m absolutely fascinated by the story so really want to enjoy this!)

2. The Whole Picture, by Alice Proctor

Marx for Beginners, by Rius (lmao this is another long-term loan from my dad… he keeps encouraging me to read some political theory whenever we get into debates (not that our politics are really divided or anything, he just thinks it’s good to have some of the context behind stuff, and I agree!) , but even this literal “beginner’s guide” apparently intimidates me oops)

4. Gideon the Ninth, by Tamsin Muir

5. Woman on the Edge of Time, by Marge Piercy (4 and 5 are both kind of cheats in that I’ve read a good chunk of each of them during the past year - loved them both so far, but just didn’t have the time to properly sink my teeth into either quite dense book at those points? I think with both it would be best to just start fresh from the beginning now!)

1. What do you have under your bed? Boxes with clothes that don’t get used anymore but I can’t bear to part with (my corsets and things mostly). 

2. Favorite candy? Cadbury Creme Eggs yum yum yummm

3. Describe your favorite shirt: Literal shirt would be a deep red one which I’d pair with a black waistcoat, but I never go anywhere these days. Mostly I just wear tank tops underneath massive black hoodies.

4. The last thing you drew/doodled was: Unicorns, it’s the only thing I draw.

5. Are you completely sober rn? I am indeed.

6. What's the one thing that annoys you more than anything? Oh god, haha. Lots of petty things, lots of big things. Currently the way my cat waits for me to sit down before asking to be let out.

7. Have you ever gotten your tongue stuck to a cold pole during winter? No, I keep my tongue to myself lmfao.

8. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? Eryri, specifically Beddgelert. I love that village. 

9. What was the single last word you spoke? I think it was probably “What?” in response to my cat.

What do you have under your bed? Nothing actually, my bed frame is flat on the floor, so there's no way for me to shove stuff under it. Well actually that's a lie, there's probably dust under it. Maybe some bugs idk.

Favorite candy? (be very specific if possible): Sour Patch Kids, specifically the watermelon ones. As a vegetarian, they're some of the only lollies I can actually eat lmao.

Describe your favorite shirt: I've got a lot of t-shirts that I love, but this one I'm currently wearing as pyjamas is probably one of my favourites.

What’s the one thing that annoys you more than anything? I hate, hate, HATE, when people tell me to 'take deep breaths' when they can see that I'm feeling anxious. Like I fucking know that, I'm trying to do that. Leave me the fuck alone please before I fucking scream at you.

Have you ever gotten you tongue stuck to a cold pole during winter? It doesn't snow where I live so no. Realistically if I did live somewhere where it snowed regularly I probably would've.
