mama .. ur shane is so delectable and SO handsome .. the moment i saw u draw him looking sweaty and stinky i was like oh now THIS is a shane truther 😋 i also think ur shane + jas content is TEWWWWW CUTEEE GRRAAAAAAAA ! anyway this is me asking u to spill the beans on ur farmer darcy bc i am so charmed by them
If Shane isn't a bulky 30 something year old flop wiping the sweat from his brow from toiling in the field I don't want him 😤
Also thank you ab liking the Jas and Shane content too! I really like to imagine how Marnie, Jas and Shane and all of them work through issues in their little ramshackle family. Shane being a sudden and reluctant father figure to Jas is so compelling. Drawing small moments between the two of them 🤌 I love a small, tender, sweet moment between an adult and their child it's just so wholesome.
As for Darcy, thank you omg 😭😭😭 I'm still kind of developing them in my head but here's what I have about them so far!
- They're from Zuzu city and would come to Stardew Valley to stay at their grandpas farm as a kid and into their preteens. I think their Grandpa passed away when they were still relatively young though and the farm was left empty for a long time.
- Darcy had been struggling to really thrive in the city and in their corporate life. I think they're kind of an impulsive person, so the move to the farm was kind of a sudden change and they jumped headfirst into it without really thinking about the gravity of taking on an entire fixer-upper farm.
- Even though the transition was really sudden, I think at first they struggle with feeling like an outsider. But after a while, I think they absolutely start to thrive living in Pelican Town! The change of pace and a slower way of living really helped Darcy feel like they had control and agency in their life.
- Darcy is impulsive and kind of blunt, but very friendly, sometimes overly friendly. Whatever they set their mind to, they do it, and only think about the consequences after.
-I think growing up in the city separates them pretty starkly from the other people in Pelican Town, appearance and personality-wise.
- They cut their own hair to save money and I think when she gets to know Sam, they dye and cut each other's hair together.
- I think their relationship with Shane started with Darcy and him kind of being forced to interact bc of proximity and the fact of living in a small town with very few places to go. Shane was actively very unfriendly but I think Darcy would just be like "ok." and leave him alone but would come back to interact with him like normal and like Shane didn't tell them less than 12 hours ago to leave him alone lmao
I've rambled for so long OOPS but thank you again for being invested and interested in my art 😭 I appreciate you so much!

Please what do you use to animate and how do you animate? Please be detailed I'll read it all no matter how long, I really help ;-;)
OH UHMHELLOI’D LOVE TO HELPBut disclaimer: I’m merely an amateur beginning animator. And have been for like...4 years... I literally just started really getting into the swing of things a few days ago. I can offer you my unprofessional methods and how I do things but If you want any actual guided tips, I suggest asking my friend @lieutkennyThey’re a second year at SVA. So they have more technical experience than I do, and some things I tell you here might be the bane of all animator’s work ethic lmao.
My biggest advice is stop being lazy. To just jump into the frying pan. I never understood this when other artists said it, but now I do. Once you start animating your first thing and grasping basics, you really get a kick start on it. Things that took me like 2 hours to try and rough sketch before take me like 30 minutes or less to map out now
And those skills keep building the more you do!!!My second biggest advice is, if you’re not majoring in animation and already taking courses, watch videos. Get the information you need from sources. Don’t be lazy like me and try and wing it. Winging it is what makes the process 10 times longer and more unbearable. You’ll end up hating it lol. You’ll end up like me and animating 2 second gif once every 2 year s.For the life of me, I had no idea how to do a walk cycle without it looking terrible and awkward. So I looked up a video on youtube. This one is super helpful in breaking down a walk cycle to something way less intimidating than the results you’d find in google images and try to follow. As explained in the video, a basic walk cycle can be broken down from this jumbled mess
to firstContact
and SecondlyPassing
and then inebtween thoseDown pose (or recoil) after Contact
And Up Pose (high point) After passing! And then you essentially switch legs/arms for the sides.Or if you’re just practicing and doing the bare minimum, like I was, just do some erasing and redrawing for the legs and arms to show they’ve switched position rather than redraw the positions of them entirely. And there you have it; a basic walk cycle consisting of 8 frames (mine is at 8 fps)
Learning how to do a walk cycle will teach you some basics. Like the fact that even the most complicated cycles and animations can be broken down to just two key frames before you branch off to more. For Cycles, you go for the two poses that are the most distinct from each other. For an animated pose or gesture, you sketch the start and end first. And then after those, you sketch the position directly inbetween them. And once you have those three positions, the between frames are...usually custom depending on the artist and what they want to convey. I suggest looking up videos on timing, anticipation, etc. Or basically just watch something on the 12 principles of Animation. Alan Becker breaks them down into 12 3-5 minute videos, which is much easier to swallow than a 24 minute video on the matter. He has a condensed video of all of them together tho if that’s your style.
You gotta know where you’re going in order to get there. So when you want to animate something, figure out your start, and then your end. Draw those. And please god love yourself and don’t try starting out sketching detailed sketches. Start simple. Make it pretty later.
That’s all I can really offer you, from the mouth and hands of an amateur. You get a lot faster once you start learning the basics and cutting corners where it makes you comfortable. I guess start with walk cycles? That’s apparently the first thing they ask of you in class. Get real sick of em lmao. Pummel them until you can punch out a decent one in 30 minutes or less lol. It helps build confidence! Do different ones like slouches, peppy walks, or run cycles!Part 2 BoisProgramI use Clip Studio Executive. CSP ex is 220 bucks. But both CSP Pro and CSP Ex go on sale quite frequently!!! I bought Pro when it was like $15 bucks a few years ago, and I snagged a physical copy of Ex for 60 bucks when Smith Micro sold it off to Celsys and needed to get rid of their physical copies (it was 70% off at the time). But I digress; They’re both 50% off right now for the next 4 days if you guys are interested
You can only animate up to 25 frames in CSP Pro. But it’s good practice regardless. Ask your parents. Get commissions. Do what you gotta do. I personally really like csp because it’s basically?? An amalgam of Photoshop and Sai. It has the simplicity of Sai with most of the features Photoshop offers. So if PS is too complicated for you, I suggest that as a go to.That being said; I don’t know much about exploiting all of CSP’s features. I just know what I know. I’m a big “Wing It” kind of person lmao. So as far as animating in CSP goes, I suggest doing what I did and watching this very helpful video on the basics of doing so; It’s 24 minutes but- if I had to do it, so do you! I’m not very good at condensing that much info lol. Here’s what it looks like tho
It’samong the simpler of programs I’ve seen. It also makes coloring and separating the planes for multiple animations...really easy. But yeh watch that videoI hope this was helpful I’m absolutely terrible at explaining things;;;;;

This is long
1) Do you prefer traditional drawing, or digital?
Uhh recently I’ve preferred traditional as for recent style updates/changes but I do most my work digitally.
2) How long have you been drawing?
I’ve been drawing all my life really but I started taking actual art classes when I was around 7?
3) How many classes have you taken?
(I’m assuming art classes here.) Well I’ve taken after school art classes during middle school and I’m currently in an art school! The classes I’ve taken for art are: 2D (painting, drawing, etc.), 3D (wood, metal, wax, etc.), ceramics, photography (film, digital, photo editing in photoshop & dark room settings), computer (digital art classes based in photoshop), printmaking (screenprints, copper etchings, woodcarving, etc.). While I’m still in high school, I go to my art school half-day (all these courses are college level btw kjrgnweklv).
4) Do you have a DeviantArt, personal website, or art blog?
I have a DA, Instagram, Art Amino, Paigee World, and this blog. I’m more active on here and Instagram however.
5) What’s your favorite thing to draw?
I love drawing arms and legs kejglvebtlkhnj I like the curves the body tends to have bc I just tend to like drawing round shapes?? But sketching a person is just generally fun to do.
6) What’s your least favorite thing to draw?
I dislike drawing still lives so much like, you don’t understand. While it’s great for basics and learning how to properly space things out, I find it completely tedious now.
7) How often do you use references?
Most of the time. Always use references. I use them for hands, shoulder placement, scenery, etc. I suggest not copying it directly, but looking up a stock photo can really help with learning how the body works for anything.
8) Do you draw professionally, or just for fun?
Both. I draw professionally at my art school and have sold work through them, but I also draw for fun so I can draw better professionally?
9) How much time do you spend drawing on an average day?
Almost everyday I spend about 1-4 hours drawing? My job qualifies I help little kids draw so that’s also added in but this also helps my drawing abilities.
10) Are you confident about your art?
Ha.
11) How many art-related blogs do you follow?
I follow a lot on Instagram but maybe 5-8 on Tumblr.
12) Is it okay for people to ask you about your process?
Yeah! If it helps someone perfect their process sure!
13) Do you prefer to keep your art personal, or do you like drawing things for other people?
I like doing both but I guess it depends on what the subject matter is?
14) Do you ever collaborate with others?
Not often but I have in the past. I would like to collaborate more with others so if anyone is interested let me knoow!!
15) How long does an average piece take you to complete?
A digital work takes me about 1-3 hours to complete depending on how complex I make it. A traditional work (ex. my paper star project from forever ago with the hands on the jar) takes anywhere between 5-10 hours.
16) Do you draw more today than you did in the past, or do you draw less?
I draw so much more given my IB Art workload and art school workload and then my job. I think it has helped me improve a lot quicker than I would’ve if I were going slower.
17) Do you think you’re justified in giving other people art advice?
Yeah credential wise. I mean I go to and art school (for almost 3 years now) and have been in critique class settings so I mean?
18) What are you currently trying to improve on?
Being more racially/body type inclusive in my art style. I find a lot of my characters are white and thin and it’s something I want to fix, along with making the different body types appear successful in my style.
19) What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?
Animals of any kind along with feet.
20) What is the easiest thing for you to draw?
Hands and legs and eyes.
21) Do you like to challenge yourself?
Yes. Challenging myself is a way to get better and I’d prefer improve a lot more rapidly by always challenging myself.
22) Are you confident that you’re improving steadily?
Yeaah, if you were to see my personal sketchbook you could see a definite improvement from February to now.
23) Do you draw more fanart, or more original art?
I do a good mix of both?
24) Do you feel jealous when you see other people’s art, or inspired? (Be honest!)
Sometimes I get pretty envious but mostly I chose to take that envy and turn it into determination to get better at my own thing? So yeah I suppose I do get inspired lmao
25) Do you like to draw in silence, or with music?
I prefer music because I like taking frequent breaks to just, jam out?
26) For digital artists: what program(s) do you use?
I mostly use Medibang Paint Pro and sometimes Photoshop CS6.
27) For digital artists: how many layers does a typical piece require?
Over 20. I separate all the colors of a piece on multiple layers and add a clip layer if I want to change a color quickly, then lineart and the initial sketch both have different layers, then overlay and background. It’s a big mess.
28) For traditional artists: what medium do you like most? (Pencil, charcoals, etc)
I mostly sketch with a blue color pencil (as I find a regular pencil transfers the graphite too much for my liking) but I love working in watercolors and oil paints.
29) For traditional artists: How do you usually start on a big piece? (Light sketch, colored lead, sketchpaper, etc)
For something around 18 inch x 24 inch it all depends on the media I’ll be using. For a painting I start with a pencil sketch, then go to an acrylic wash (to block in the shadows), then do the actual painting.
30) What inspires you to not just make art, but to be a better artist?
I want to get better, not the best, but better. I want to be able to be someone’s inspiration to get better and want to overpass my technical skills.
