Do you think that Canon Levi (While he is in the scouts, not post-war) would want a serious relationship or even a family? I love reading fanfictions about him falling in love with someone who is also on the scouts and even having a wife or kids, but he canonically is not a huge fan of marriages and Idk, maybe he doesn't like the idea of putting children in such a dangerous world, you know what I mean? Hi, sweetheart! How are you? Ah, first of all, thank you for stopping by my inbox and asking for my opinion. I always get a little giggly when people ask for my thoughts on anything haha. I promise to do my best to reply to everything to the best of my abilities!

I agree with you to a certain degree, especially since you mentioned not "post-war Levi." I think post-war Levi is a completely different story, you know? This man sat down with two kids to tell them about his childhood and mother. Let's remember that Hange didn't even know about Kenny's existence during the Uprising Arc, which leads me to think that Levi didn't speak to anyone about his past before. Now he does? I mean, yes, it's a literary device—using characters completely alien to the idea to present a first-person POV of the character telling their past. I've used it myself in my main fic. But let's say that's not the case, and Levi is opening up like never before. He seems to be redoing his life and living happily after the war. I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to pursue a partner and kids for himself (if he wants, as kids and romantic relationships aren't necessary for happiness).

But Canon Scout Levi? Let me tell you, first of all, I don't think Levi really "believes" in marriage per se. I think he would treat his girlfriend as if she were his wife; he doesn't think of marriage much beyond "a tradition." Now, I do see him getting married if it would enhance the life or rights of his girlfriend. What do I mean by this? Let's say there's "social judgment" if his girlfriend is publicly in a relationship with him and "being with a man outside of wedlock" causes her social scrutiny—he may marry her. He knows firsthand how women are judged based on their "status" by his mother, so if he can step up and do the right thing, he will. For example, if he were to die and his partner couldn't land jobs because people judge that she's unmarried at her age, he would marry her. Or if she could get a pension from being married to a soldier, and every coin counts, Levi wouldn't mind it. That's what I personally think. Levi knows he won't be the one getting the sour end from not making it official, so he sees it as beneficial to make it legally official.

Then about kids, I don't see Levi "seeking" kids while he's in the Scouts. It's rather clear that Levi likes kids across the story, but he probably wants to give his kids the childhood he didn't have. And yeah, "kids only need someone who loves them, etc.," but the truth is kids need time, dedication, and MONEY. Three things that Scout Levi doesn't have lmao. So I don't see him canonically "seeking to become a dad." If there's contraception in Paradis, he's for sure using it. If there isn't, or accidents happen, and his girlfriend ends up pregnant, he would probably state that it's not the best timing for kids (especially if she's a Scout, as I doubt a woman would be allowed to be a soldier and also raise a kid. She would lose her job and stay behind to be a mother, which was usually the case back in the day). But if she decides to carry on, Levi, being an adult doing adult stuff, will take responsibility and be the best father he can given the circumstances.

Finally, about relationships… I'm a firm believer that you don't truly choose to fall in love or not haha. Like when it happens, it happens, like the cat distribution system lol. Once it knocks at your door, it's your time. Once again, I don't picture Levi going out of his way "searching" for romance. But if he slowly gets to know someone and likes them, and that person likes him back, then well… I don't know. Now that I'm rereading the manga, I'm more sure about this. Levi hardly seems "unapproachable," like "I'm so hurt, I don't want to let anyone in." On the contrary, you see he has good relationships with almost all the Scouts, even telling Nifa about Kenny out of nowhere. He's not one to fall easily, but if it happens, it happens.

Leon fucked up. He wasn't paying enough attention. Seeing what once used to be regular farmers wave pitchforks and sickles at him, their eyes crazed and red, just like in Spain, immediately sent him back there in his mind. For a moment, he couldn't even function. He froze, like a damn rookie, and although it was only for a second that was long enough for them to be ambushed.

The pitchfork had plunged straight through Piers' foot, as if his boots hadn't even been there, and was embedded deep into the ground. The movement had sent Piers falling onto his ass, which was a lucky break, as the sickle someone had thrown had ended up buried in the wall behind him instead of in his forehead.

By the time Leon had neutralized the threat and rushed to Piers, Piers was already trying to tug his foot free, and immediately Leon placed a palm on his knee to stop him. "Hey, let me," he grimaced as he looked at the two long spikes that had pierced through the foot, the rest just narrowly missing. "Fuck. I'm sorry."

Piers groaned, leaning back against his hands. "You're gonna be sorry if you don't get me free in a minute." He gave Leon a pointed look, and they'd been friends for long enough that Leon could interpret it as the forgiveness it was. He wasn't quite that ready to let himself off the hook, but now wasn't the moment to self-flagellate.

"I'm gonna need to pull it out," Leon said, but he just got a grunt and a nod. He took that as agreement, so he grabbed the pitchfork, giving it a good tug. It didn't budge, neither on the second try, but the third time Leon put all his weight into it and managed to slide it free.

The strangled cry Piers let out made Leon feel even guiltier. He knelt down, unlacing the boot to get it off. It was sweltering hot around them, if he would leave the wound untreated it would certainly get infected and lead to bigger problems. Piers just watched him, with a pinched look on his face, trying to breathe steadily, as Leon peeled the boot and then the sock off.

The first aid spray was their best bet, so Leon emptied half of the canister, trying to get the bleeding puncture wounds to close up. The smell of the spray wasn't the best even under normal circumstances, but in this sweltering heat it was somehow even worse.

Bad enough that Piers doubled over, barely managing to turn to the side before he threw up.

"You okay?" Leon asked, frowning a little as he knew it was a dumb thing to ask, considering. What he really wanted was to pull the plug on the entire operation, which he knew would be overreacting, but he couldn't shake the feeling either way. Watching Piers get hurt was several magnitudes worse than getting hurt himself.

Piers wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, pulling a face. "I'm fine. We can keep going." Experimentally he moved his toes, aiming for a smile that turned more into an awkward grimace. "See? Everything works!"

Exasperated, Leon sighed. He grabbed a wad of gauze, as it was pretty much the only thing that'd work, and bandaged the wounds the best he could. Then he took the now bloody sock, rolling it back over Piers' foot, trying not to hurt him any more than absolutely necessary. "Try not to get any more new holes punched into you before we're out of here."

"Oh, I already have the optimal number of holes," Piers said, easily.

Leon snorted. "I'd say a couple too many now." He pulled Piers' boot back on, even went on to lace it up for him, before he stood up and offered his hand for Piers. "Let's see if you can walk."

Without hesitation, Piers grabbed the offered hand, pulling himself upright. "As if I have any choice in the matter."

"If I need to, I will carry you out of here," Leon joked, although there was some truth to it. He wouldn't leave Piers behind, under any circumstances. And they both knew it.

"Oh," Piers teased. "Romantic." He winced as he set his foot down but he tried to cover it up. "I'd kiss you, but I literally just threw up."

Leon chose not to comment on the wince, letting Piers have this. Instead he just lifted his eyebrow. "Well. Later."

As soon as they'd get the hell out of here.

i'm on the train and bored and still have an hour to go, so TIME TO RANT ✨️

and i'm choosing to make a list of bttf scenes i would have done differently/things i would have added because i like disagreeing with bob gale as if i owned this franchise

this is maybe an unnecessary change, but personally, i would have preferred if there were more instances of marty trying to warn doc about his death in part 1. we see it when doc demonstrates the model and then later twice on november 12 (before he writes the letter and then before marty has to leave), but i feel like it would have been more emotionally impactful if he had tried it more than that and only at the very end given up and written that letter.

SHOW DOC PLAY SAX. LIKE BRO. they could have had a concert 😭 imagine doc crashing the dance and playing sax with marty on stage (take this bullet point with a grain of salt, i'm only half serious. but still seeing doc play sax would have been badass)

the most obvious point of all obvious points, add the goddamn lone pine mall hug. the entire fandom agrees it's canon, and i remember a post going around speculating that they did indeed record a hug and keep the secret footage somewhere at universal lmao. but all jokes aside, this hug was SO necessary. every sane person would be waiting for it when watching the movie. marty is literally on the ground, bawling his eyes out, thinking his friend is gone, and us heartbroken audience members don't even get a hug to soothe our souls. i haven't paid much mind to doc and marty's relationship when i first watched bttf, but even past me was expecting a hug. good thing bobby fixed it in the musical

MORE JENNIFER. don't knock that girl out for 75% of the movie, please. she deserved better, and i wish bttf 2 would have put more emphasis on her as a character and how she's like and stuff. i hate to see it, but she's such a surface character that we barely know anything about (in my opinion), and that's just sad. she could very well have gone to the cafe 80s with marty and kept him grounded and stuff.

honestly, i maybe even would have kept that deleted 1985a scene with dave. we don't get to see marty's siblings at all in that timeline aside from a mention from biff, and it would have been interesting to see.

this is quite a jump in time, but i wish bob gale would have expanded on the scene in bttf 3 in which doc tells marty that he wants to stay behind in 1885 because of clara. this might be my fanfic brain speaking, but i see so much conflict potential. it would have been wild to see doc and marty argue, maybe even fight for the first time in the trilogy, and picture the emotional turmoil both of them were going through. if i had been marty, i would have snapped, not gonna lie. like, yeah, i get that doc found the love of his life but after all the lectures he'd given marty and after all those times marty was willing to rip apart the fabric of time just to keep doc alive, that man just goes "sorry marty, i met a woman i fell in love with, thanks for saving my life so i can live it out HERE. you go back home and idk clean my lab" >:(. this will forever be a pet peeve hahahaha

WHY does doc just FLY OFF on that DAMN TRAIN? i have to admit, it is an epic ending and feels sort of celebratory, but how can he say that he had to get his dog BEFORE even MENTIONING marty, giving him a photo, shake his hand as if they were work colleagues and nothing more, and then LEAVE? WHAT??? at least talk to him for a bit longer, tell your best friend where you've been, whether he will see you again and that you cherish him for god's sake. if you already had to give him false hopes by getting on the train only to fly off on the hoverboard later 🙄

I have this plot in my head, that Drake will just be "innocently" talking with Vi, and Vi knows what Drake is doing but plays along with it bc it annoys Xaden. Drake feels like that annoying older brother that just wants to fuck with the younger siblings in a good-natured way

Let me tell you, when I was screaming at poor Vi in canon when she skipped around in Warrick/Lyra's journals (I don't blame her, shes like what 21??? and stressed out her mind and everyone is also like in their early 21s) BUT I'm glad that in SITQ she started from the beginning.

The way I audibly GASPED when the guard was like "your mother is here". I was literally thinking a minute before, when the venin was threatening Violet, that theyre going to use her mother to lure her out (not that, that isn't in the realm of possibility) but I was worried for Liilth's health and safety after that threat. BUT MAMA SORRENGAIL IS BACK AND IM HERE FOR THE DRAMA.

I personally don’t agree with the universal opinion that a part of the fandom seem to have is that Darry and Soda would despise Curly because of the way that he is, and doesn’t ever want them around Ponyboy because he is a bad influence.

While I do agree with a part of it, I think Darry and Sodapop don’t agree with the lifestyle that Curly has going on, but understand his predicament and situation and the reason he is the way that he is, as well as they wouldn’t prefer Ponyboy to hang around Curly because of the messes they could get into that could cause consequences to their actions, e.g the state taking him away because of their negligence and such.

Along with my Arab American headcanon, as Hospitality is a part of their culture, and respect is always forefront to make their guests feel comfortable and welcomed around their presence, they would still look out for Curly, even if he does insist that he doesn’t need anybody to look out for him because he could handle himself. And while still being around the same age as Ponyboy, they don’t really believe that, so if it was needed, (like patching up injuries and PB wasn’t around,) they’d be more than happy to take care of him if he was ever in trouble.

While Curly still does act the way that he does around the Curtis gang, I think he would grow on them, and vice versa.

While Darry is overprotective and such, he does not have any ill will over anybody, especially a teenager because I don’t think a grown man needs to have beef with a teenager, but he’s not overly affectionate towards Curly either LOL

I do think Darry and Tim have a silent oath of some sort to look after each others family whenever it is necessary, while it is not explicitly said between the two, they both know the similar situations they’re in, and to make it easier it would be good if they both were to take care of one another.

On a less serious note, for my Arab Curtis Hcs, I think whenever there would be guests visiting their homes, (minus the gang,) Darry is keen about body language in order to show respect for that guest, (e.g, putting hands in pockets, leaning on walls, etc.) in which Ponyboy and Sodapop do forget sometimes because they don’t often have many people come over, but they do their best to show off respect.

and culturally speaking!! when it comes to curly and ponys openness, curlys always telling pony to stop helping everyone bc not everyone will help u, but pony just generally cant help it, its just in his nature, its a bit of a cultural misunderstanding between em

Rei's house

I’m insane and I know a lot about interior design against my will so I used it to make a rough floor plan of Rei’s house

This wasn’t an easy thing to do for two reasons: 1) the only rooms shown so far are the living room and the hallway and 2) Newo doesn’t know how to draw a house apparently LMAO. It’s something I noticed while skimming through the manga to get references but yeh Newo doesn’t put too much effort in backgrounds unless it’s absolutely necessary, what they do is draw the basics to give the reader an idea of where the characters are. I went through their other art and it’s also that way, tho in their pokemon art it has more detail than in knk but I would argue that since knk has to be ready within a month while their other art doesn’t it shouldn’t be surprising it’s drawn that way

Anyway here’s what I could make out so far

Rei’s house seems to be the kind that’s square rather than rectangular so let’s work keeping that in mind

The first room would be the living room which as you can see it’s pretty clear how it’s supposed to look however there are a few weird things going on with it, the first one is the couch on the left that has a ? next to it. I put it there bc there’s two panels where it doesn’t appear at all…those panels being these two

But for the sake of my sanity let’s say it’s there. Then there’s the dinning table and you can tell it’s in the same room since in the front you have the left couch that sometimes disappear. Another thing to take into consideration is the door in the far end, I put it there bc when it opens Rei looks to his right and seeing the direction Tobi is opening it it seemingly opens that way which is weird bc doors usually are supposed to open right next to walls but whatever

Next thing I want to point out is the hallway

This one is interesting bc it shows what seems to be a door close to Rei on the left side and another door in the back to his left. There isn’t another visible door which makes sense he’s probably covering with his big head but yeh I wanted to point this out bc that either means that door goes to the dinning room which wouldn’t make sense when supposedly theres already a door at the back that takes you to the living room OR Newo accidentally put the living room door in the wrong place, which could be, I don’t think they really are thinking about making it consisten which makes sense, you don’t read manga to see rooms you pay attention to the dialogue and characters

The rest of the first floor (kitchen, bathroom, laundry room) are just guesses on my part. Going on a tangent here for a moment but the reason why I made the kitchen like that has a reason you see, kitchens follow this “triangle rule” where the three most important elements of a kitchen (these being the fridge, the sink and the stove) need to be put in a triangle formation so there can be better mobility. Also important to keep in mind fridges need to be far away from stoves. If you look closely to the first picture you’ll also notice the window to the right has also a curtain. Curtains aren’t meant to be near stoves for the obvious reason that they can catch on fire so I put the sink there and the stove the other way. I’m assuming there’s a window there behind the stove too bc something something air circulation there’s a lot of science behind this stuff

Also idk if this is relevant but the entrance is also kinda easy to make out for some reason

Another thing I noticed that made me want to kill myslef is there’s this part where reinochi sits together in what seems to be the couch form the right bc in the front there’s the window HOWEVER in the very next panel you see a window behind them as if they are sitting on the left couch what they fuck ��😭😭 bitches be rotating….like I know it’s not supposed to be like that and was a mistake Newo overlooked (the same way they’ve overlooked the fact Tobi has a turtleneck in recent chapters but I digress) but after you notice it you can’t just unsee it 😭😭😭

Anyway this house is a mess that’s why I decided to make my own floor plan that makes sense to me

The living room, dinning room and kitchen I kept them all the same as well as the bathroom and laundry room tho the change I made was the mystery door. Instead of it being in the far back I put it in the same place as the door we saw in the hallway and by the end I put the stairs that lead to the second floor and next to it a closet but now that I look at it maybe the stairs themselves can be the closet 🤔🤔🤔 you know how some stairs have like a door and space inside you know what I mean

The second floor is a bit more simple with Rei’s room right next to the stairs. The bathroom is in exactly the same place as the first floor bathroom bc plumbing is all supposed to be in the same place and next to it the master bedroom bc it’s the biggest room. There’s an extra room that leads to hell idk I haven’t thought that far

Anyway it’s almost 3 am idk why I did all this but I hope you get to enjoy my insane ramblings uwu

$ but every time you ask him if he wants to hang out with you and watch your fireworks, always forget about it and willingly follow you. Sitting on the grass, he smiles when you light up a firework and see the usual big warm grin as you run to him and carelessly flop down and wait.

🔥 this feeling felt painful, torturing, but felt so good. But it felt way worse when he wasn't with you for a while. And even WORSER when he sees you with some random demon. He just felt like ripping that demon to shreds, making them regret and wish they were dead.

Heyy, do you have a tutorial on how you make your gifs? They’re so crisp and beautiful, I wanna start making gifs but idk where to begin

hello!! first of all, thank you kindly!!!! i'm always stunned when someone genuinely appreciates my gifs 😭

second of all, please do!! gifmaking is such a fun hobby, i wish it were a tad more rewarding but truly it's a great creative outlet for hyperfixations.

now, i personally don't have a tutorial but that's only because i myself have learned from a bunch of other ones during my years of trial and error and my technique has nothing that's original to it. i can, however, tell you which tutorials i turn to whenever i need a refresh + some tips i have started implementing on my own!!! i'll put everything below the cut.

the tutorials are this one and this one; the first one is a more general step-by-step one and the second one is for adding noise to gifs when they don't have it naturally, which imo greatly helps with making gifs look more hd.

as for the tips:

whenever possible, and if your pc can handle processing them, try and find files that are at least 1080p. 2160p isn't really necessary unless you're making close-up gifs (though i almost always use it if i can find it), but a 1080p file is only legitimate if the size of it is 1.5gb+. anything below that is not actually hd, no matter the claims.

with videogame footage, i generally record my own gameplay and take screencaps from there. when i want to gif youtube videos or anything i can't download by my usual means, i use 4k video downloader.

i used to take my screencaps with kmplayer, but i've been using mpv over the past few months and i find it works more smoothly. kmplayer did serve me well for years though, and the installation isn't as gimmicky, so go with that if you find it easier!

when it comes to resizing the gif (image > image size), i always leave the mode on bicubic automatic; for a time i used to pick bilinear, but i later learned it was the reason why my gifs didn't look how i wanted them to look.

i generally sharpen my gifs with the same action pack mentioned in the first tutorial i linked, but i do also add an unsharp mask layer to make it extra crisp and detailed. these are my settings for it:

whenever i'm giffing something that is not available in Real HD (like youtube videos), i add a step to my usual sharpening by using a set of plugins from topaz labs; now, i have absolutely no idea how i installed them when i did years ago, and i have no clue how to find them anymore, but i'm sure tumblr has answers somewhere. specifically i use topaz clean. i'm pretty sure you could achieve a similar enough result by adding a gaussian blur level to the sharpening, though; either way, my settings for topaz clean are:

when it comes to coloring, i never use .psds, i make the coloring from scratch for each scene, and most times i use multiple colorings per scene. it will take a little while to find your footing with color correction perhaps, but then again, each gifmaker has their own style and that's what's fun!!! one thing i've taken to doing most times, however, is adding an exposure layer towards the end of my coloring layers and upping both exposure and gamma correction based on how much or how little the gif can tolerate; i find it helps a ton with making gifs look hd on mobile, which is notoriously hard to achieve because mobile hates gifs. also, i have a pretty heavy hand when it comes to contrast and to darkening blacks, because in my experience that also helps with resolution.

when i go to save for web once i've finished making my gif, i tend to pick the combo adaptive+diffusion. very rarely i switch from adaptive to selective, but only if adaptive makes the gif look weird, which is usually not the case.

this should be all, i really always follow the same process and it's pretty automatic by now lmao. forgive me for yapping at length, but i hope this can be helpful to you or anyone who might want to try their hand at gifmaking! i'll update the post with my settings asap. thanks again for the love 💕

After V9 ended I kinda semi-left the fandom as I got into other shows and whatever, but recently the rwby/nnd brainrot (affectionately) has returned, and as I rewatched v8/9 and then watched the post-v9 shorts I was just hit with this wave of confusion once again

Like, the scene with Penny and Winter seems quite Definite in terms of it seeming like the end of her run as a character, but then v9 just kinda shoved that off the table? And like what do you mean the last time we’ll see Penny is when “she” talks to Ruby in Neo’s house (which is just obviously such a significant scene because it’s the first time we’ve seen that kind of distress on Ruby, literally I can’t get that expression out of my head)?? And there hasn’t been a single mention of Penny afterwards, other than Winter showing regret in the V9-epilogue

I feel like CRWBY had the perfect opportunity to tie up the loose ends with V8/9. It would’ve probably been at least partially unsatisfying anyways cuz of that whole turn-human-and-die-20-minutes-later-thing (with emphasis on the turn-human part which I have Very strong opinions about), but instead they go out of their way to have Penny be referenced several times in V9 with no explanation??

I can get Jaune seeing Penny in the punderstorm, but what about her swords?? What about Penny’s reflection in the blacksmith scene?? What about Weiss’ “I know that Penny…” in V9E2??

We still haven’t gotten an answer to where Penny’s body even ended up! (Or where Pietro is.) And at the end of the day, the “conclusion” of Penny’s arc had ended up being the opposite of what her character development was pointing towards (self-acceptance/self-realization/putting yourself first more), and that last point in particular is just so unsatisfying that it makes me think “Is this really what CRWBY had in store for her? Or is there more to her story that we’ve not yet seen?”

I definitely feel like there are ways Penny can be brought back in a meaningful matter, especially since the “it cheapens her death!”-argument is no longer relevant due to the revelations about death/reincarnation in V9 (even though it was a weak argument in the first place). And there are for sure ways to utilize her character in the future, especially as a foil (or rather, a two-peas-in-a-pod-situation?) to Ruby in regards to them both being selfless to a fault.

Penny might be the only character (that comes to mind) whose death/conclusion to arc is so off-putting (in the sense that it makes little sense writing-wise, if you get what I mean?). I might even say that her death in V3 was more of a clear “conclusion” to her story than her death in V8.

So idk if it’s just delusion on my side or CRWBY actually has more in store for her, but I just have this feeling that this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Penny, which is very very scary cuz I don’t want to get my hopes up for nothing

Sorry for the long rant. I’ve read a lot of your posts on this matter and it’s been occupying my thoughts an unhealthy amount lol

I mean, you're preaching to the choir here lmao, most of this is my exact thoughts on the matter.

For the part about the Maiden transfer scene seeming so final, my best guess is that it was 1) meant to throw us off a bit, make sure we had to dig a little before coming to the conclusion that her story isn't over, and 2) make sure that they were still applying the emotional weight necessary for the death of such a beloved character (even if they knew it wasn't actually the end).

The fact that Ruby's story wrt her mourning of Penny is currently left off with the Neo scene definitely tells me there's more coming there, there's no way you can spin that scene as satisfying/emotionally resonant closure for her or the audience. And I think that makes sense since, even revival theories aside, we still need to see Pietro's side of that story, and it makes sense to have the two of them overlap/interact some.

The amount of times Penny indirectly showed up in V9 is definitely suspicious, the voice, the sword, the reflection. There's something going on there for sure.

And yeah, don't even get me started on how little sense the end of V8 makes if it's truly meant to be the end of her story. Just takes all the themes of her character arc, rips them apart and stomps on the pieces lmao. But, that is also a part of why I'm confident she's not done, since I have enough faith in this writing team to believe they wouldn't leave it there.

I definitely feel you on the fear of getting your hopes up, I've definitely been there on-and-off over the last few years. With how much V9 gave us in terms of evidence and hints though, I've been less worried about it for a while now

But! My biggest fandom is Sailor Moon, and I can't stop thinking about Sailor Neptune/Marie and Sailor Uranus/Jordan. Ignoring the obvious, there's a few things that really make me think limoreau.

i will be putting spoilers for sailor moon, mainly the third arc

the lore around the outers and their 'cosmic purpose' or whatever is very interesting to me. so they are basically like lone watchmen, destined to patrol the outer circles of our solar system. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto hold the keys to destroying an entire world if its ever necessary (the ability that saturn has, they like... can summon her? create her? idk im still a lil iffy on that part. but like they each have a thing, put the things together, saturn becomes a human death star.) so like big duty! big responsibility! They take it very seriously.

(all of this is from mainly e106 09:44 - 18:20 ish. I watch the viz dub if anyones curious :) )

either way, what makes me think of limoreau is the fact that neptune discovers her destiny first. she accepts the device, she becomes a guardian. (marie accepts the truth and wants to be a real hero, its practically forced upon her with her history and whatnot). she is the one who comes to haruka and like tells her about her destiny. shes like 'this is not easy, dont do this if ur not ready' and then saves her life and seeing michiru's heroism and dedication (and her love for haruka :) ) and then he chooses to become a guardian. (which just gives me strong 'fuck the rankings' vibes)

There's a scene right before this where they talk about the end of the world and it has gala scene vibes.

But what's the most interesting is the fact that unlike a lot of the other characters, they have very little doubt in their relationship and their choices. They move as a unit because they are united in purpose. Neptune is never doubtful of Uranus and she understands Uranus well. Even Mamo and Usagi have multiple moments of doubt and they are like super destined by fate or whatever

So to me, they are the strongest couple. And it's the undercurrent of devotion to duty that really really reminds me of limoreau. I really view the entirety of season one as matching up with those 10 minutes of backstory. And then imagining that like end of season 1 limoreau as the START of season 3 harukaxmichiru and then how would Jordan and Marie react to fckn sailor moon like jenfkdjdjskndbh the episode with Usagi and Haruka being chained together is one of my all time faves and like... Jordan would act the same. I think it was that that convinced me that Haruka and Jordan match up better than Seiya and Jordan.

And then Neptune. She's kind, sweet, and yet unrelenting. Teasing and serious, driven by duty. Idk she's a very enigmatic character, just like Marie imo? But idk dhjdjdhshksj I need to do some more thinking about Marie.

I said "just read" but in reality it's been like 3-4 months. I didnt have time to put all my thoughts together and I needed a lot of it to actually form any thought lol.

Up till now I've refrained to comment on the Gotterdammerung story that I've never actually read. So now that I've read it myself, now I understand why many think this lostbelt's story is rather weak. I honestly think it's weaker than its predecessor, LB1.

A long time ago, I theorized that Lostbelts stories will explore about love and different aspects of it. While most of my theories are proven wrong, for a lostbelt that specifically does have love as its central theme, I feel like it could have been...more.

Or more accurately, LB2 feels like it bites more than it can chew.

The LB talks about so many love, be it motherly love, romantic love, sisterly love, friendship love, even godly love. Yet in my personal opinion, only the sisterly and friendship love deal a huge impact on me.

Idk why, but even Scathach-skadi's motherly love (the kind of love that's a sure fire way to make me cry) while mentioned over and over again, it just fall flat to me. Only at the end of the story do I feel sorry for her. I feel like I was more heartbroken when I read her chapter in Nakatani-sensei's From Lostbelt manga.

I was also waiting for someone to mention "Gods can't love humans" (Ahem, Noragami reference here), pointing out how she maintains her world by sacrificing 15 years olds and 25 years olds to be eaten Attack-on-Titan style. Even though she has no choice but to do so, and the reason she maintains the world in the first place is because she loves everything in it, does her love justify the means? Isn't the only one who can do something like that someone -something- not humane? Is that what differs God's love to Human's love? Is that even "love"? I was hoping it'd be at least discussed even though we all know she really would not do it if there was any other way.

Ophelia muttering how she shouldn't think about love and can't fail like Kadoc, implying her train of thought being Kadoc's downfall was caused by the love between him and Anatasia, and turns out love saves her lostbelt and becomes her salvation as well as Kadoc's. Oh poetic cinema.

I kept thinking to myself "does the love triangle (quadruple?) necessary for this chapter?" and after awhile, I came to my own conclusion: yes and no.

Yes for Surtr -> Ophelia and Ophelia -> Wodime. No for Napoleon -> Ophelia.

This is not a "What if asshole boy A falls in love with girl B but chooses to be mean to her out of emotional problems and 1000 other reasons." This is a "What if boy A is literally made, knowing, and capable of one and only one thing: destroy the world, and he falls in love with girl B?" Surtr is exactly written with that concept. Ngl I think that's a good logical outcome that he ends up like this: Showing his love to Ophelia by destroying the world harder.

As for Wodime, I do believe that romantic love can drive someone to undergo a great change, positive or negative. For Ophelia who has always remained stagnant, her feelings for Wodime becomes her drive for many things she does. Halfheartedly or not, cowardly or not, she pushes herself forward, she makes decisions on her own, whether that is a wrong way or not. And ngl if I was in Ophelia's shoes and saw what she saw when they were all dead, I think I'd fall at least a little with Wodime too lmao.

As much as I love Napoleon's vibe and bravado, I don't get why he falls in love with Ophelia. I don't think the explanation that this Heroic Spirit Napoleon will always search for someone to love in his incarnation is enough to justify it. Not even the "he thinks she's asking for help" thing, that could be written as a non romantic motive and still works just as well to show how heroic and good-natured Napoleon is. There is no reason why it is a romantic love. I know love sometimes has no logic or reasoning but usually a party has to DO something that personally MOVES the heart of the other party.

But I admit Napoleon and Surtr immediately trash-talking each other as love rival is funny.

Besides that, Napoleon is amusing and great buddy. And the scene with his trump card ... Truly a hope bringer, befitting the title Good Fellow of Everlasting Flame.

Ophelia's genuine feeling for Mash is very interesting actually. I understand her POV of wanting to befriend Mash because there are few girls in Team A (and Akuta is very aloof). How she wanted to befriend Mash yet couldn't close the distance but still tried to anyway, and said feeling still exists even now that it actually stops her from going all out because she couldn't bear hurting Mash and truly treasures her. I feel like it wasnt enough for them to really be tight friends, but if only they had more time, they really could have been such :''

And Ophelia regarding Fujimaru with high respect as their Senpai is pretty heartwarming to me. No wonder in Lostbelt no. 5..... ah...

I've been screaming about Sigurd/Brynhildr in this chapter ever since this chapter was out and I will scream it harder now. Even if my teeth rot because the sheer diabetes their interaction gives.

Once, I wondered if Sigurd was an asshole because of what happened to Brynhildr. After Gotterdammerung is out, he's literally best husband he'd die for Bryn but he'd also survive her love-translated-into-murder to prove he loves her. How much he loves his wife and loves to declare it is actually starting to be embarassing, even for Brynhildr lmao.

Giving Sigurd (and by extension Surtr) the voice of THE Tsuda Kenjirou is one of the best decision Type Moon ever makes.

Brynhildr's flashback of her rampage gives me so much chill even though there are no visuals of it. So much that I made a fanart of it. That she might have murdered children and women in blind fury, even though earlier in the chapter she is shown to be great with children and The Model Valkyrie herself just makes a great juxtaposition to show how much love -and being human instead of divinity- steers her to deep end.

The reenactment of her myth (sleeping in the castle surrounded by fire) but this time there is no prince (Sigurd) waking her up but she wakes up and saves herself and others is nice.

Brynhildr and the her sisters interaction is also great. The valkyrie's (I assume it's mainly Ortlinde's POV but really it could be anyone in the group?) lamentation of the past, how Bryn changes from the gentle ice to harsh fire, how they all both feared and envied how much she could change after gaining a human heart, and how they end up gaining that very same heart, it's so tragic yet satisfying as it comes full circle with Thrud and Hildr committing suicide out of broken love just like Bryn did in her myth. Ortlinde freaking out and later coming to terms with everything and choose to fight for what she believes is also in line with them as automata gaining a heart.

Oh and I like the Icy Fire concept here, both literally (the world is covered in fire overlaying Scathach-Skadi's snow, and what happens to Surtr later) and metaphorically (how love can make someone's emotion running wild as cold as ice and as hot as fire)

I DIDNT KNOW, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS IN GERDA'S ART FROM ROAD TO LOSTBELT 7 :'''''''''' That scene is so sad yet so beautiful...

Gerda is basically an innocent child character to be protected. Yet her innocence is also what makes it unsettling that she believes whole-heartedly about the Ordained Day and the short lifespan the people have. Goredolf's rant about how could she, and everyone in her lostbelt, can be okay with any of that, while purely an emotional outburst that's like getting angry at a child who knows no better, raises many points and chilingly resonates well with the concern of the Chaldea members.

I like how Sitonai appears, but I wish she can appear more. The name Illya just brings so much memories... And she even appears with a mother in the form of Scathach-Skadi, just like the original Illya with Iri. It's funny tho that Sitonai is understandably a bit cranky and cheeky with Skadi, unlike Illya-Iri pure doting relationship. Yet the bit where Sitonai ends up missing Skadi just as the Lostbelt disappears is pretty nice.

*snorts* This wouldn't get this long if Holmes just spits out who the hell this Sigurd really is.

Oh, the scene where Surtr breaks out of his prison is scary. Imagine something gigantic comes out of the sun in broad daylight…

And of course the Mystic Eye scene is one of the pinnacle of this chapter. Truly a culmination of Ophelia's development. The voiced version from Flashback Lostbelt no.1-5 MV is even better.

To be able to create 3 spin-off chapters of this lostbelt and deep dive into the psych of each character... Now I understand how much power Nakatani-sensei has.

Working backwards a bit here. Basic traits: laidback, able to carry a conversation, amicable, mischievous, snarky, still able to spot imperfections and correct them, but in a more constructive and less anxious way than her hermit

Therefore, thinking about it, Eight's hermit would be a stressed out perfectionist who prefers to be alone but is still able to carry the social aspect of their life when necessary.

I'm thinking they're just different aspects of the work-life balance. Eight is able to maintain relationships with other helsmets whereas its hermit is mostly closed off in a shop or something, only really interacting with a close circle and preferring to do their work. There's nothing inherently wrong with either of them honestly

distracted by any bright lights (cannot override the moth instinct there lmao), probably keeps a dim one in their stall

5 is a 63 year old man in a teenage boy's body. he is an interesting character completely on his own. he doesn't need a love interest to make his story more interesting. holy fuck did they watch the first two seasons at all? he was so integral to the plot without any romance necessary (unless you count delores which, yeah we can count delores).

(also, if i fucking may, they basically recycled delores with a real live person in lila. stuck in the apocalypse for years with no one to love. like. that is fucking annoying itself. the writers so desperately want to give 5 a love interest but they also think the only way he could find love is through being imprisoned in the apocalypse with one other person like cool okay thanks for that.)

yeah i get it now. you're all correct this season is a bad fan fiction come to life. and IT'S THE END. normally these choices wouldn't bother me but it is the FINAL season and there's no coming back from this and they're just making a terrible choice with a beloved character and i'm fucking pissed.
