sleeping most of the day helped you greatly, you were able to get all that rest that you truly desired and your joints ached a lot less when you woke up from your second nap of the day. you flicked your phone all and checked the time. shit, liam was going to be at your hotel within an hour.
you reluctantly peeled the bedsheets back and climbed out of the warm abyss and began digging through your suitcase but nothing seemed good enough. you were about to have a racing driver in your room, you needed to look good, but you had never been really good at this shit. so you quickly grabbed your phone a face timed your best friend.
to say that she was shocked to find out you were going to be hanging out with one of the drivers was a little bit of an understatement "holy fucking shit y/n, how do you always get yourself in these situations", you just laughed her off and you guys go to work on picking an outfit that screamed casual, i did not try too hard while also not looking lazy. and once you had finally done that and promised your best friend she was going to get the full run down on your time with liam you hung up and began cleaning the room ready for him to come over.

written: today's fit
once your hotel room was finally to your liking you took a moment to breathe. it was difficult to wrap your head around what was about to happen. in mere moments a f1 driver was going to be in your hotel room to just hang.
growing up you watched f1 every race weekend with your father, it was one of the main things that you were able to bond on. you would set up the tv in your hospital room after surgeries just so you could watch it together but as you got older and moved out of your family home. you kind of just stopped watching. yes you kept up with the teams just so you could talk to your father about it on your weekly phone calls but you were no longer the little super fan that you had been.
being able to surprise your father with paddock tickets was a way for you to force yourself back into the world of formula one, you knew that after seeing a race in person you would be hooked for good, who knew that you were also going to get to spend some personal time with one of the drivers.
you had been so caught up in your thoughts that you had not heard the first knock at the door, but the second one pulled you from your whirlwind of thoughts, "coming", you called out taking one last look in the mirror before going to the door, a smile plastered on your lips.
as the door opened you were met with liam standing there, he had two bags in his arms and he returned your smile. "hey y/n", he spoke as he walked inside.
"so i brought you a burger and some fries, i hope you like it", he spoke and you smiled at his thoughtfulness
"you already know me too well mister lawson", you teased playfully as he handed you the bag of food.
liam explained that he was on his race weekend meal plan so he was unable to partake in the fast food and instead pulled out a carefully curated meal that had been made for him. you both took a seat on the floor of your hotel room and just ate and spoke. it was really nice, liam was refreshing. yes he talked about racing and his life but he was more interested in wanting to get to know about you and what your life was like. as you spoke about your family and friends, you caught liam looking at you like you were the only person in the world. it was enough to make your heart jump in your chest and cause you to stumble over a few of your words but you powered on.
it unsurprising that you and liam both caught up in each other's company it was only when liam's watch buzzed to alert him that he had a meeting in fifteen minutes that you realised you had been sat yapping for over an hour.
"you have no idea how much i want to skip this meeting right now, but i think i'll lose my seat", liam spoke making you laugh as you stood up to walk to the door.
"it was lovely talking to you y/n, i'm glad you are feeling a bit better. i for one am really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.", he spoke softly, "and maybe carry on seeing you after the race", he spoke carefully as if he was testing the water between you.
your cheeks flushed softly at the thought of continuing seeing him after this whirlwind of a weekend, "I would like that liam", you spoke softly.
that was when liam reached down and took the unbranded baseball cap off your head putting it on the ground, he removed the rb hat from his head and gently placed it on your head, "much better", he whispered lowly before pressing a soft kiss to your lips. one that you quickly reciprocated. it was gentle and loving as if you had forever.
"goodnight liam", you whispered softly when he pulled away.
"goodnight darling", he spoke before making his way down the hall leaving you to shut the door behind him smiling like the cheshire cat.

flyingdutchman 24?? mate wth
kkofficial u heard me ho flyingdutchman u have issues
user o.b. and liam post on the same day... it's too much
user HELP why do we all like both of them user outback and liam lovers unite??
user liam are you gonna stream cod tonight??
kkofficial i'm thinking abt it!! if i do it'll be in a few hours
Liam’s stream was chaos — as usual. He was halfway through a COD match, yelling instructions at his teammates while chat spammed messages at lightning speed.
He narrowly avoided a grenade, shouting, “How the fuck is this guy everywhere? He’s like a — a fuckin' kangaroo on steroids!” as his team erupted into laughter.
But even in the chaos, Liam couldn’t help noticing his chat filling with a different kind of energy.
"OMG GUYS OUTBACK LIVE! >-<"
"Why do you guys do this to me? Both my favs are live at the SAME time 😭😭"
"Outback and Liam collab when??"
“Outback?” Liam muttered, confused, leaning closer to his second monitor as he scanned the chat. “Wait, you mean the Stardew guy? The faceless one who has that cat cam?”
The chat erupted:
"YES!"
"That’s him! He’s live, and it’s so wholesome right now :("
"Imagine Liam raging while Outback is talking about his pixel crops lol."
Liam smirked, leaning back in his chair. “Faceless farmer? What exactly does he do?”
The replies came fast:
"Farms?? LMAO"
"He’s super chill, it’s the complete opposite of your chaos... (luv u dont ban me)"
"His voice is literally melted butter. So soft and warm. </3"
"He got excited over finding a rare fruit tree today,, it was adorable."
Liam chuckled, raising an eyebrow. “So you’re saying while I’m out here sweating bullets in warzones, this guy is geeking out over fruit trees? That’s… kind of amazing, actually.”
Another wave of messages flooded in:
"You’d like him, Liam."
"Outback raid would be legendary."
"DO IT!
"RAID OB!"
Liam grinned, tapping his desk as he considered. “Alright, alright. Let me finish this game, and maybe I’ll see what all the fuss is about. But no promises.”
He didn’t admit it, but he was curious. Someone who could charm his viewers this much, all while staying faceless and cozy, had to be something special. And judging by the way his chat wouldn’t shut up about it, maybe this “Outback” deserved the attention.
Jack was peacefully streaming his latest Stardew Valley playthrough — this time he was set on marrying every male character in the game, his warm, quiet voice filling the air as he commented on his latest in-game project. “Alright, so I think the pumpkin patch can go here, and we’ll line the path with some of these little pink flowers…”
The chat was a flurry of supportive messages, as usual, but suddenly the tone shifted.
"O.B!!!!!, KiwiKiller is talking about you on his stream!"
"Liam mentioned you like, five minutes ago!"
"He called you the 'faceless farmer' — so cute."
Jack froze mid-sentence, his mouse hovering over a patch of soil. “Wait, what?” he asked, his soft accent tinged with confusion. “KiwiKiller? That FPS guy?”
More messages flooded in:
"Yea! He said you geek out over crops, and he thinks it’s amazing!"
"He’s still live OB!! he might raid you after his game."
"Liam and Outback collab when???"
Jack chuckled nervously, leaning back in his chair as he adjusted his headset. “Uh, well, that’s… unexpected,” he admitted, a faint blush creeping into his voice. “I didn’t think someone like him would even know I exist.”
The chat immediately reassured him:
"Of course he knows you! You’re iconic, Outback :("
"Everyone loves you, mate.
"YEAH!!! Even sweaty FPS streamers."
"He’s probably jealous of your pumpkin patch skills."
Jack smiled, his voice softening even more. “I don’t know about that, but… it’s kind of cool, I guess. I mean, he’s got such a big audience, and he’s, you know, really good at what he does. Meanwhile, I’m over here getting excited about pixel carrots.”
His chat exploded with laughing emotes and messages of support:
"Pixel carrots > killstreaks any day, O.B."
"Outback supremacy!"
"We need him to raid you,, it’s what the people want </3"
Jack shook his head, his shyness evident in his tone. “If he raids, I’m going to have to hide under the desk or something,” he joked. “I don’t know how to handle all that attention.”
Still, as he returned to his pumpkin patch, there was a small, curious smile on his face. The idea of someone like KiwiKiller noticing him — someone so loud and confident, the polar opposite of his quiet streams — felt strange, but also… kind of exciting.
Liam leaned back in his chair, satisfied after yet another victory. His stream was winding down, but his chat was buzzing with anticipation.
"RAID OUTBACK!"
"You promised, Liam!"
"Do it!"
"Faceless farmer, here we come!"
Liam laughed, shaking his head. “Alright, alright, fine. Let’s see if this OutbackSprout guy is still live.” He opened a new tab, scrolling through Twitch until he found the cozy stream everyone had been hyping up. The screen showed a beautifully organized Stardew Valley farm, with Jack’s soft voice narrating his plans for the day.
“Oh, fuck, this is adorable,” Liam said, grinning. “Look at this! The little pumpkins! The fence! This guy’s living his best farming life.”
His chat exploded with excitement:
"HE’S PERFECT, RIGHT??"
"RAID NOW!"
"He’s so different from you, you guys need to be friends!"
“Alright, let’s do it,” Liam said, clicking the raid button. “Let’s bring some chaos to his little farm.”
Jack was mid-sentence, explaining his plans to expand his barn, when his chat suddenly went wild.
"KIWIKILLER RAID!"
"THE KIWI IS HERE!"
"OMG HI LIAM!"
Jack blinked, his hand freezing on his mouse. “Wait… what? No way.” He glanced at the viewer count, which had skyrocketed in seconds. “Oh my gosh. Um, hi, everyone. Welcome.”
Liam’s viewers flooded the chat with messages, while Jack’s regulars tried to explain:
"KiwiKiller just raided you! He’s been talking about you all stream!"
"Be nice to him, Outback!"
Jack stammered, his voice tinged with nervous laughter. “This is… a lot. Thank you, uh, KiwiKiller? Liam? For the raid. I— Uhm, I hope you like Stardew Valley?”
Liam’s message popped up in the chat:
"We love it already. Your farm's cute, mate."
Jack’s cheeks flushed, even though no one could see him. “Oh, um, thanks. It’s… nothing fancy, just, you know, some pumpkins and stuff.”
Liam joined the chat banter, his tone uncharacteristically soft and encouraging:
"Don’t sell yourself short, mate. This is impressive. Chat’s right,, you’ve got some serious farming skills."
Jack’s nervous chuckle turned into a genuine laugh. “I think that’s the first time anyone’s called me impressive, but thank you. Seriously.”
The interaction was so wholesome that both chats couldn’t stop gushing:
"NEW BESTIES!"
"They’re so sweet omg."
"This crossover is everything."
After the stream ended, Jack checked his notifications and saw a new follower on Instagram: kkofficial. Hesitating for only a moment, he clicked follow back.
Not long after, he received a DM:
Liam:
"Thx for being such a good sport abt the raid. Your stream’s cute. Would love to play something chill w/ you sometime. Only if ur up for it."
Jack stared at the message, his heart racing. After a deep breath, he replied:
Jack:
"Thanks for the kind words and for the raid. I’d love to! :3 Maybe I can teach you how to plant pumpkins without yelling at them..."
The friendship — and maybe something more — had officially begun.

Summary : Walking the dog ends up with an injury, and Liam is a supporting boyfriend throughout it all.

Having Liam as a boyfriend was like having another dog running about the house as if your current dog wasn’t bad enough. Liam always had so much energy that he basically just bounced about the house and against the walls, but you love him for it.
It was your last day in England before flying out to Australia for the Australian GP, and you had left Liam in the house to finish packing, deciding to take your dog out for a walk. Scrolling on your phone as you walk along the pavement.
Except your dog had spotted her rival. Why do they hate each other? No idea but they started barking at each other. Typically, a nice stroll turned into a barking match.  Before you knew it, there was a sharp pain shooting through your knee as you put your foot down on the ground.
Your dog, now far too interested in the world around allowed you to stand on the one leg and quickly pull your phone out, calling Liam. It felt like hours before he finally answered the phone, still singing as he answered
“Baby. I need you to come” you cried, not being able to hold back the tears from the sharp pain
“What happened?” He asked as there was shuffling on the other end
“I don’t know. It’s my knee though” you replied, wiping your tears away
“Where are you? I’m getting in the car now” He asked, and you sniffled
“I just got to the end of the road” you whispered, seeing his car quickly moving out the driveway and down the street. Pulling up in front of you, you were able to get your dog into the back of the car before taking the one hop into the front seat.
The tears fell down your face as you saw Liam’s sympathetic look pulling you straight into his arms
“It’s okay, baby. Let’s get you back to the house” Liam drove back to the house as you looked out the window, now really upset with yourself. Liam's hand rested on your leg as he parked the car in the driveway.
“I’m gonna take the dog into the house then come back for you, okay baby?” You nodded, taking your seatbelt off as Liam walked into the house with your baby. Pulling yourself out of the car was the worst decision you probably could have made as the sharp pain shot through your knee again.
“I told you I was gonna come back” Liam shook his head before sweeping you off your feet and carrying you inside the house
“I could have got in the house myself” you muttered, and he shook his head
“I’m gonna phone my trainer and get him to look at your knee” He placed you down on the couch, pulling your trouser leg up to look at your knee, carefully touching it
“Your hands are cold love” Liam chuckled, kissing your head as he wrapped you in a hug phoning his trainer. His trainer informed him that it was probably best to go get it x-rayed, especially if you are planning on leaving the country tomorrow morning.
That’s where you ended up that night. After spending the rest of the evening on the phone to the health board and having a video call, they sent you to the minor injuries unit at the closest hospital.
Now getting your knee touched and prodded by a random woman who was lovely you had to make your way from minor injuries to accident and emergency for an x-ray because apparently the x-ray department right next to minor injuries couldn’t be used. So limping your way across the hospital with pain shooting up your knee with every step you took.
Having the x-ray done was the least painful bit. Just laying there as the big white machine flashed and the woman placed your leg back down onto the table saying you were free to leave. Liam was waiting outside the x-ray room, wrapping his arms around you as soon as you stepped out of the room.
“I’m so sorry baby” you whispered, and he shook his head
“You have nothing to be sorry about. It’s just one of those things that happens” He rubbed your back
“Yeah but there’s this whole thing with your seat, and if we’re here waiting, then you might miss your flight” Liam shook his head, helping you back to minor injuries
“You come well before that seat. Red Bull have other drivers that can take my seat if needed but I promise that even if I’m put into that car then you’ll always come first” He kissed you as you stepped back into the examination room.
“So radiography says that there’s nothing there, so I’m just coming to take a look to make sure” She smiled as Liam gently rubbed your hand. You were sure this hurt more than all the bones you had previously broken throughout your life
“I can’t see anything on the x-ray. It’s just a pretty bad sprain. My advice would be to keep your hips, knees, and toes aligned, and I’ll give you some exercises to do” You nodded, looking up at Liam, who was standing next to you.
“I swear this hurts more than breaking a bone” you muttered, and he laughed, pressing a kiss to your lips. The doctor came back with the exercises, and Liam drove you both back home for a couple of hours before the flight tomorrow.
Tumblr media
Arriving at the paddock with all those cameras flashing was not a thing that you wanted to be doing while limping. Liam had his arm around your waist as you struggled to walk from the pain in your knee, still annoyed that they basically just told you to walk it off even though you physically couldn’t.
“What have you done?” Max asked as he caught up with you both
“Twisted my knee before flying out” you huffed, and he chuckled
“It hurts more than all my broken bones put together at the one time. I can’t walk up or downstairs. Liam’s got to walk like a fucking snail and we all know he’d rather be running ahead” You sighed as Liam walked over to sign a few things for fans leaving you stood on one leg
“How do you even twist your knee?” He asked, confused
“Stopping a barking match. I couldn’t even take a step, and the doctor basically said to just walk it off. I can’t walk” Max laughed, shaking his head
“I’ll see you soon then. I need to get to this interview” He smiled
“Yeah bye Max” You nodded with a sigh, taking Liam’s water bottle from him so he could sign things easier
“What have you done, Y/N?” A fan asked as you held onto the railing for support
“I twisted my knee while walking the dog. Thankfully I’m not working this week, and I’m in this lovely country. Imagine doing six hour shifts on one leg” You shook your head
“I hope you feel better soon” She smiled
“Thank you. Hope you enjoy the race” You smiled, watching Liam as Fred signs his shirt. Liam goes after him to sign Fred’s shirt.
“Let’s get you to the garage to sit down then baby” He smiled, wrapping his arm around your waist and helping you to the VCARB garage. It was crazy how Liam’s touch and smile could distract you from the pain and bring you back into the world where you were truly loved and maybe some of the news you had for Liam wouldn’t be so bad to tell him.

"great more walking", you whispered under your breath as you tucked your phone back into your handbag. this was not your dad's fault, he had no idea that you had hardly gotten out of bed all week and now you were in las vegas pushing your body to do things that it really did not want to do. your lids were already heavy, ready for bed and it was barely 9pm, a feeling that you were used to but would never feel normal.
you had decided that you wanted to get good pictures from this trip, so you had only packed heels, a cruel way of forcing your pained body to wear the fashionable shoe rather than slipping into your good old faithful worn out sneakers.
slowly weaving through the crowd you made sure to keep your head up and not slump shoulders, a way of making sure the shooting pain in your shoulder didn't get worse. but as you walked your eyes looked up to see a large group of people walking towards you, they already looked drunk. fucking brilliant.
you just continued to walk forward feigning importance with each step but even then you got shoved by one of the men. your brow furrowed, no one got to disrespect you like that. you turned to get a look at the man who had shoved you and give him a piece of your mind but you quickly regretted that choice.
you twisted badly on your right near and as you were in heels there was no stopping your right knee from dislocating. something that happens all the time but does not get any less painful. your joint quickly popped out of place and then back in but the damage was done as a yelp left your lips and you crumbled down to the floor.
the people in the paddock were too preoccupied with the excitement that comes with attending a formula one race that they just did not notice you on a crumpled heap on the ground hand grasping your knee just to make sure that it was properly back in place.
you were getting yourself ready to stand back up all by yourself when you noticed a blonde man with his eyes looked on you making a beeline towards you. "shit are you alright, you took quite a spill there", he spoke and your brain registered the accent instantly. "i'm okay i do stupid stuff like this all the time", you spoke and the man gave you a gentle smile, "what exactly happened that looked a little more than a small fall?"
"my dislocated", you spoke seeing the usual horror spread on his face.
"shit do i need to call an ambulance"
"no, like i said this happens all the time"
the man looked at you with pure concern on his face, you could practically see the cogs turning in his head as he tried to work you out.
"i have elhers danlos, you probably have never heard of it but it just means my joints like to dislocate all the time"
prince charming slowly nodded, "okay lets get you up and then i can help you find your friends"
"i'm here with my dad, he text me saying he was in the williams garage. i was trying to find him"
"okay i'll help you find him", he spoke before wrapping his arm around your waist.
"if you are going to touch me like that i better know your name mister", you teased as you heaved yourself up into a standing position.
the man looked a little taken back by your question almost like you should have known who he was, "i'm liam", he smiled
"nice to to meet you liam, i'm y/n", you spoke before beginning the walk with him, his arm still around your waist, just helping you keep your balance as you hobbled over towards the williams garage.
the walk to the garage was really nice, liam was asking you all sorts of questions like where you were from and what your medical condition really meant for you. you yapped on about your life, enjoying the man's company as you got to the williams garage.
your father was stood outside eyes searching for you but when he spotted you and your company his mouth opened wider, "Oh y/n", he called out as you and liam approached him.
"you worried me girl, did something happen", he spoke still side eyeing liam making you quirk an eyebrow.
"i'm okay, my knee dislocated, i'm fine though", you spoke knowing how worried your father got sometimes.
but your father was a little more focused on the man next to you, "liam", he spoke, "it is lovely to meet you", he smiled and you frowned a little, how did your father know liam?
"i am very happy to see you back in f1, you drive brilliantly"< your father spoke and you gasped.
"shit, you are liam lawson, the new rb driver", you spoke turning to him, "i am so sorry i didn't recognise you, i am a casual f1 fan, my dad here is the real superfan", you explained to the man rambling on a little bit.
"that is okay y/n it was kind of refreshing to meet someone that doesn't know who i am", he spoke kindly, "i'm going to have to head back over to the garage for some media bits but i was wondering if i could have your number. i could hustle you two seats in the rb garage for the race", he spoke, "it will a lot safer there for you", he smiled.
your father was looking at you two starstruck and you just nodded, "of course", you spoke before he gave you his phone and you plugged your number in, "thank you for helping me liam", you spoke before waving him goodbye.
he left you stood there stunned as your father asked you ever question under the sun about your interaction with the driver.

Eventually — Lawhan Mixed Media AU
Twitch Streamer AU — 2.4k words — @ellearts — masterlist
Liam sat on the porch, gripping his phone so tightly his knuckles turned white. His mind was racing, but deep down, he already knew what he was going to do.
He couldn’t stay.
There was no way to fix this. No way to undo the damage he’d already done by being careless. The pictures were gone, but people had seen. Hannah had seen. If she was calling him like this, it meant it was bad.
And if she told his parents—
Liam exhaled sharply, pushing the thought away before it could settle.
He stood abruptly, already pulling up his flight app, fingers moving automatically as he searched for the next available flight to New Zealand. There was one in the morning. He booked it without thinking. Without hesitating.
He had to get out of here. He had to fix this.
His foot was already halfway over the threshold when a thought finally hit him—
Jack.
But he shoved it aside almost instantly.
Jack would be fine.
Jack had to be fine, because Liam couldn’t afford to think about him right now. Couldn’t afford to linger in that bedroom, in that bed where Jack had held onto him like he mattered, like Liam wasn’t just some inevitable disappointment waiting to happen.
If he thought about Jack — about his stupid soft eyes, about the way he’d whispered I don’t want you to leave like it meant something — he might break.
And Liam couldn’t afford to break.
Not now.
Not ever.
So he squared his shoulders, clenched his jaw, and stepped back inside.
He wasn’t going to say goodbye.
Liam moved through Jack’s house quickly, shoving his things into his bag with sharp, mechanical movements. His chest was tight, his breathing uneven, but he kept his hands steady. He wasn’t thinking. He couldn’t think.
He had a flight in a few hours. He just needed to be gone.
Behind him, the door creaked open.
“…Liam?” Jack’s voice was groggy, thick with sleep. Liam froze, fingers tightening around the strap of his bag. Jack took a few slow steps inside. “What… what are you doing?” His voice was quiet, uncertain. Then, after a beat, “Are you leaving?”
Liam clenched his jaw. “Yeah.”
Silence.
Then, softer, more fragile—“Why?”
Liam exhaled sharply, adjusting his bag on his shoulder like it would ground him. “It’s just— complicated. I have to go.”
Jack stared at him, his eyes searching, pleading for an answer that Liam couldn’t give him. “You’re supposed to have two more days.”
“Plans changed,” Liam muttered, forcing himself to sound unaffected.
Jack let out a breathless laugh, but there was no humor in it. “Right. ‘Plans changed.’ Not an actual explanation, just a convenient excuse.”
Liam sighed, rubbing his forehead. “Jack, please—”
“Oh, please what?” Jack snapped suddenly, stepping closer. His voice was raw, frustrated. “Please understand why you’re sneaking out of my house in the middle of the night like this wasn’t anything to you? Please just let you go without asking why the hell you’re acting like I mean nothing to you?”
Liam’s stomach twisted. “Jack—”
“No,” Jack cut him off, shaking his head. “You’re leaving because you don’t want this. Because you don’t love me. Because you don’t wanna be with me. That’s it, isn’t it?”
Liam inhaled sharply, his whole body tensing. His pulse was loud in his ears, his skin prickling hot. He felt trapped. Cornered.
Jack kept going, his voice cracking now. “Just fucking say it, Liam. Say you don’t want this. Say you don’t want me.”
Liam snapped. “I’m not queer like you, Jack!”
The words were out before he could stop them, and the second they landed, the room went silent.
Jack’s face went blank. His mouth parted slightly, like he’d just been slapped, but he didn’t say anything.
Liam felt his own breath hitch. His hands curled into fists at his sides.
The silence stretched, thick and awful.
Jack swallowed hard. When he finally spoke, his voice was eerily quiet. “Right.”
Liam’s chest was heaving. He hadn’t meant it like that. He hadn’t— Jack’s expression was unreadable. His lips pressed into a thin line. Then, after what felt like an eternity, he took a slow step back, nodding to himself. “I get it.”
Liam opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
Jack’s jaw tightened, his throat bobbing. “Then go.”
Liam hesitated. Just for a second.
Then he turned, walked to the door, and left.
Jack didn’t stop him.
Liam sat stiffly in the back of the cab, his phone burning in his hands. His chest still felt tight, his breathing uneven, but he forced himself to focus on the screen. On her.
Hannah:
Flight’s booked.
You leave in five hours, i wasn't sure how far away he lives from an airport.
Check your email for the details.
Liam exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. He knew she’d do it. She always did.
Another message popped up.
Hannah:
I won’t say anything, Liam.
But you know what that means.
His stomach twisted. He didn’t respond.
Three dots appeared, and then—
Hannah:
We get married at the end of the month.
No more excuses.
No more running.
Liam clenched his jaw, staring at the words like he could will them away.
Married.
He’d always known this was coming. Always known this was the endgame, the thing his parents expected, the thing Hannah had resigned herself to just as much as he had.
He knew what would happen if he fought it. If he stayed. If he let himself want.
But now, after eight days with Jack, after last night, after what he’d said—
Liam’s hands curled into fists.
His phone buzzed again.
Hannah:
Say yes, Liam.
His throat felt tight. His body felt wrong.
But he knew what he had to do.
Liam:
Yeah.
Tell my mom to call her people.
We'll get married at the end of this month.
He locked his phone, staring blankly out the window as the city lights blurred past.
Jack’s voice still echoed in his head. “You don’t love me. You don’t wanna be with me.”
Liam had walked away. He had chosen this.
So why did it feel like he’d just lost everything?
The second Liam stepped off the plane, the weight of reality hit him like a brick wall.
The bright lights of the airport, the hum of conversation, the cold, stale air—it all felt suffocating. He adjusted the strap of his bag over his shoulder, forcing his shoulders back, slipping into the version of himself that belonged here. The one that didn’t think about Jack.
The one that didn’t want him.
Then he saw them.
Hannah stood near the arrivals gate, her parents at her side, and just a few steps away—his own family. His mother beaming, his father watching with quiet approval. Everything they had wanted. Everything they had expected.
Hannah’s eyes met his, and without missing a beat, she smiled—bright and effortless, like this wasn’t all a lie.
Liam exhaled and walked toward her.
As soon as he was close enough, Hannah reached for his hands, intertwining their fingers like it was second nature. Like she’d done this a thousand times before.
And Liam? He let her.
He squeezed her fingers just enough to make it look real.
Hannah leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek, lingering just long enough for their families to see — a mark from her lipstick being left behind. “Welcome home, baby,” she murmured, her voice sweet, perfect.
Liam barely stopped himself from flinching. “Missed you,” he said instead, voice steady, smooth.
Her nails dug ever so slightly into his skin, a silent reminder. This is what you chose.
Hannah turned to his parents, her smile never faltering. “He looks exhausted, poor thing,” she said lightly, squeezing his arm. “We’ll get him home, let him rest.”
His mother beamed. “He’s lucky to have you, dear.”
Hannah laughed softly, tilting her head to rest against his shoulder for just a moment before pulling back. “I’m the lucky one.”
Liam forced himself to smile, to let the words sit even though they made his stomach twist.
They made their way through the airport together, their hands still linked, their families walking beside them. The perfect couple. The perfect lie.
Liam didn’t check his phone.
Didn’t let himself wonder if Jack had texted.
Didn’t let himself think about soft hands on his skin, whispered words in the dark, I don’t want you to leave.
He just smiled.
Pretended.
And let himself be owned.
The car ride home was quiet.
Liam sat in the backseat beside Hannah, his body heavy with exhaustion—not just from the flight, but from everything. The moment they were settled, Hannah tugged gently at his arm, guiding him down until his head rested in her lap. He let her.
She didn’t say anything at first, just started threading her fingers through his hair, slow and gentle. The way she always had, ever since they were kids.
It wasn’t fake. Not entirely.
Because Hannah did care about him. Maybe not in the way their parents wanted, maybe not in the way he wished he could return, but she did.
Liam exhaled, staring up at the ceiling of the car. The soft hum of conversation drifted from the front—his mother and Hannah’s parents talking about wedding plans, about venues, about dates. It was set. The end of the month.
Liam didn’t react.
Didn’t argue.
Didn’t fight it.
Hannah’s fingers trailed lightly across his scalp. “You okay?” she murmured, so quiet that no one else could hear.
Liam swallowed, his throat tight. He didn’t answer.
She sighed softly, her nails scratching lightly against his hairline. “I know,” she whispered. “I know, Liam.”
And somehow, that was worse than if she’d been angry.
Liam closed his eyes.
He let her play with his hair, let her soothe him like she always had. And for now, he pretended it was enough.

The moment they got to Hannah’s house, Liam went straight to their bedroom, shutting the door behind him like it would somehow keep the outside world out — Hannah followed close behind. He collapsed onto the bed, face buried in his hands, his chest tight with something he didn’t want to name.
He still hadn’t turned on his phone.
He knew what would be waiting for him and he wasn’t ready.
Instead, he lay there, staring at the ceiling, willing himself to shut it all out.
Then, a soft chime.
Liam frowned, slowly sitting up. The sound hadn’t come from his phone — it was still powered off on the nightstand.
It had come from Hannah’s.
He looked over to see her sitting on the edge of the bed, scrolling, her expression unreadable.
Liam exhaled sharply. “What did you do?”
Hannah didn’t look up as she tapped at her screen one last time. Then she turned it toward him, showing him exactly what she’d done.
An Instagram post.
A picture of Liam’s head resting in her lap from the car ride home, his face turned away but still unmistakably him.
Liam’s stomach twisted.
Before he could even process it, Hannah nudged his arm. “Comment something.”
Liam blinked at her. “What?”
She raised an eyebrow. “People are already going crazy. Just comment something simple. Keep things normal.”
Liam clenched his jaw. He knew what she was asking.
He turned his phone back on, watched as the screen flooded with notifications. Some of them were hers — people liking and commenting on her post. Some of them were from Jack.
He ignored Jack’s.
Instead, he scrolled to Hannah’s post, forced his fingers to move, and typed:
💛💙
Yellow for her. Blue for him.
A stupid, meaningless thing they had done since they were kids. Something their families loved. Something that made it look like everything was fine.
Hannah’s phone buzzed. She looked down, saw his comment, and nodded approvingly. “Good.”
Liam set his phone down, ignoring the ache curling in his chest.
Then it buzzed again.
Not from Instagram.
From Jack.
Jack:
Liam what the fuck was that
Are you seriously just leaving without saying anything?
Answer me.
Liam.
You really fucking left??
Wow.
You’re a fucking coward.
Why did I even think you felt the same.
Hope she was worth it.
Liam inhaled sharply, his stomach twisting painfully.
He clenched his jaw, forcing his breathing to stay even.
Then, without reading them again, he turned off his phone.
Liam let it fall onto the nightstand, his hands still curled into fists. His chest felt tight, like something was pressing down on him, something too heavy to hold, something clawing at his ribs from the inside.
He had done the right thing. He had fixed it.
So why did it feel like he was breaking?
His shoulders started to shake before he could stop them. He gritted his teeth, pressing the heels of his palms into his eyes, forcing himself to keep it together.
But then Hannah shifted beside him, pulling him gently toward her, wrapping her arms around him like it was the most natural thing in the world. It was the most natural thing in the world.
That was all it took.
Liam broke.
A shaky breath, then another. His chest hitched, his body caving in on itself as he buried his face in Hannah’s shoulder. She didn’t say anything. Didn’t ask. Didn’t press for words he didn’t have.
She just held him.
Her fingers stroked through his hair, slow and steady. “It’s okay,” she murmured, soft and real. “I’ve got you.”
Liam clenched his jaw, his breathing uneven. He didn’t let people see him like this. He wasn’t allowed to be like this.
But Hannah had always been the exception.
She didn’t try to fix it. Didn’t tell him it would be okay, didn’t lie to him. She just let him exist.
Eventually, the exhaustion pulled at him, his body sinking heavier against hers. He let his eyes slip shut, his breathing finally evening out, his grip on her hoodie loosening.
Hannah shifted slightly, adjusting so they were both more comfortable, still curled together on top of the blankets.
“Get some sleep,” she whispered.
Liam barely registered it before everything faded to black.
For the first time in hours, his mind quieted.
And in the silence, he let himself forget — just for a little while — what he had left behind.

Jack tried to shake it off.
Tried to tell himself he was being ridiculous.
Liam was his friend. That’s all he had ever been. That’s all he had ever promised to be.
Jack rubbed a hand over his face, staring blankly at the wall. He knew he should just drop it — close Instagram, get up, do literally anything else — but instead, he found himself reaching for his phone again. He opened their chat without thinking, his fingers hovering over the keyboard.
Jack:
hey, u up?
It was stupid. He knew that. But Liam usually answered fast, and right now, Jack just… needed to hear from him. Needed something to pull him out of his own head.
Three dots appeared almost instantly. Jack’s pulse stuttered.
Liam:
course, what’s up?
Jack hesitated, gripping his phone tighter. He had no idea what to say.
Hey, I just spent the last twenty minutes cyberstalking your girlfriend because I got jealous for no reason?
Hey, I thought maybe you liked me, but clearly, I’m an idiot?
Instead, he forced his fingers to type:
Jack:
nah, just couldn’t sleep.
figured u were awake too.
Liam’s reply came just as fast.
Liam:
u know me too well, mate.
what’s on ur mind?
Jack swallowed. The words were right there — questions he had no right to ask. But he couldn’t bring himself to say anything.
Jack:
nothing.
just bored. :)
A beat. Then—
Liam:
well ur in luck bc i was just abt to kick some guy’s ass in cod.
wanna watch?
Jack huffed out something like a laugh, even though his chest still felt tight.
Jack:
sure.
Liam sent him the stream link. Jack clicked it immediately, even though he knew it wouldn’t fix anything. Even though it wouldn’t make the ache go away.
But for now, for now, it was enough to pretend nothing had changed.
The stream had been live for about fifteen minutes, and Jack’s chat was already in full chaos mode. The camera was perfectly angled to avoid showing his face but still captured Esteban and Lance sitting side-by-side, bickering over the “right” way to hatch a slime in Stardew Valley.
“No, no, no!” Esteban huffed, practically lunging for the mouse. “Lance, you’re wasting eggs! That’s not how you do it.”
“It’s a slime, Esteban,” Lance shot back, rolling his eyes. “You put an incubator down, put an egg in it it, and it’s fine. We’re not on a survival show!”
"Esteban treating this like it’s the Olympics.”
“Lance and getting mad at Este, name a more iconic duo.”
“OB, you’re too calm for this.”
Jack leaned into his mic — still hidden off to the side of the camera — chuckling softly. “You guys wanted to see what it’s like when these two play games together. This is it. This is the whole experience.”
“Oh, come on, O.B,” Lance teased, finally shoving the mouse back at Esteban. “You’re supposed to be our leader in these games, you've just gotten lazy.”
Jack shook his head, glancing at the chat. “Leader? Babysitter, maybe.”
Esteban smirked, settling back in his chair. “Outback's just mad because Liam’s probably better at cozy games than we are.”
Jack froze, his face heating immediately — it'd been a month since he'd found out about the girl Liam was with. At least, he thought Liam was with. The Kiwi was far too confusing when it came to his friendships, it appeared like he just kissed all of his friends on the cheek? “What does Liam have to do with this?”
The chat jumped on it immediately.
“LIAM? KIWI?? WHAT DID HE DO???”
“Are they talking about Kiwikiller?”
“Oooooh, your crush is showing.”
Jack cleared his throat, trying to ignore the growing warmth in his cheeks. “I’m pretty sure Liam’s busy playing Call of Duty or something. He doesn’t have time for farming.”
“Oh, please,” Esteban said, grinning. “You talk to him all the time. Didn’t he say he’d try a farming game if you played Red Dead with him?”
Jack groaned, rubbing the back of his neck. “That’s not— he was just joking.”
“Sure he was,” Lance chimed in, smirking as he leaned closer to the camera. “Chat, did you know that Outback here stays up late texting Liam about game strategies and random life stuff? It’s adorable.”
“Lance,” Jack hissed, his voice low and panicked, “don’t—”
The chat absolutely lost it:
“EXCUSE ME???”
“Outback and Kiwi texting confirmed???”
“Jack, blink twice if you’re in love.”
Jack groaned, burying his face in his hands even though the camera wasn’t on him. “You guys are the worst,” he muttered, his voice muffled.
“You’re blushing, aren’t you?” Esteban teased, poking Jack’s arm.
“I am not!” Jack protested, though the crack in his voice gave him away.
Lance leaned back, clearly enjoying himself. “Chat, for the record, Liam’s probably watching this stream right now. Should we tell him Jack has a huge crush?”
“No, no, no, no!” Jack panicked, his hands flying up. “He’s not watching, and we’re not telling him anything!”
The chat, of course, only escalated the teasing:
“LIAM, WHERE YOU AT???”
“Jack’s blushing, 110%”
“WE NEED A KIWI-OUTBACK STREAM ASAP.”
Jack sighed, trying to focus back on the game while Esteban and Lance continued laughing. He couldn’t stop his mind from wandering, though. He and Liam had been getting closer, chatting late into the night about games, life, and everything in between. Jack knew he was falling hard, but he had no idea if Liam even felt the same — or if Liam was even into guys.
The thought made his stomach twist, but for now, he shoved it aside. He’d survive this stream first — and maybe, probably not, deal with his feelings later.

Jack checked his phone for the hundredth time, his foot tapping anxiously against the tile floor of the airport arrivals area. His hoodie was pulled up, and he had his cap low over his face — not that he was famous enough to be recognized, but still. His nerves were wrecked.
He wasn’t even sure why he was this nervous. It wasn’t like he and Liam hadn’t spent months talking, calling, and playing games together nearly every day. But this was different.
This was real.
A new wave of passengers flooded through the arrival gates, and then — there he was.
Liam was easy to spot, even in a sea of people. Tousled blonde hair, effortlessly cool despite the exhaustion of a long flight, duffel bag slung over his shoulder. And then there was that grin — wide, easy, like this was just another day instead of a monumental moment in Jack’s life.
Jack swallowed hard and lifted a hand in an awkward little wave.
Liam spotted him instantly, his grin widening. Without hesitation, he strode over and pulled Jack into a quick, one-armed hug.
Jack tensed for half a second before forcing himself to relax, patting Liam’s back awkwardly. “Hey.”
Liam pulled back, looking him up and down like he was actually processing that Jack was real. “Holy shit,” he said, laughing. “You exist.”
Jack grinned so wide it hurt. “Yeah, well, so do you.”
Liam clapped a hand on his shoulder, shaking him slightly. “You look exactly like I imagined.”
Jack raised an eyebrow. “What, anxious and sleep-deprived?”
Liam grinned. “Exactly.”
Jack rolled his eyes, but he was smiling as he grabbed Liam’s bag and started toward the exit. “Come on, mate. Let’s get you settled before I regret this whole thing.”
Liam just laughed, jogging to catch up. “Too late, you’re stuck with me for seven whole weeks now.”
Jack sat at his desk later that night, staring at his Twitch dashboard. His phone buzzed with notifications — his usual audience, already hyped for his next stream.
Liam was sprawled across Jack’s couch, flipping through his phone, completely unbothered. “You announcing it, or are you just gonna let people think you disappeared?”
Jack sighed, rubbing his temples. “Yeah, of course I'm announcing it, just— give me a second.”
Liam smirked. “Nervous?”
Jack scoffed. “No.” He was. But whatever.
After one last deep breath, he opened Twitter and typed:
“Going live tomorrow with a special guest!!!! You guys are NOT ready for this one.. trust me.”
The post was up for maybe five seconds before the replies started rolling in.
“??? SPECIAL GUEST???”
“OH MY GOD WHO”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE’RE NOT READY”
“DON’T BE SHY DROP A HINT”
Liam snickered from the couch. “Oh, mate. They have no idea what’s coming.”
Jack sighed dramatically, dragging a hand over his face. “This is gonna be a nightmare.”
Liam grinned. “Yeah, but it’s gonna be fun.”
And, despite himself, Jack couldn’t help but smile — the nerves didn't matter with Liam smiling so fondly at him from just a few feet away.
Jack wasn’t sure he had ever been this nervous in his life.
He sat on the couch, his knee bouncing anxiously as the countdown ticked down on his stream overlay. Liam was next to him — actually next to him, pressed right up against his side, their thighs flush together. Jack could feel the warmth of him, solid and real, and it was making it impossible to think straight.
Liam had flown all the way to Australia for this. For him.
A hand landed on Jack’s knee, firm and steady. “Breathe, mate,” Liam murmured, voice low enough that the mic wouldn’t pick it up.
Jack inhaled sharply, dragging a hand through his already-messy hair — it was far from a buzzcut now. “I am breathing,” he muttered, though his voice came out unsteady.
Liam grinned, giving his knee a quick squeeze before pulling back. “You’ll be fine. They already love you. This is just gonna make them love you more.”
Jack swallowed, nodding. He wasn’t so sure about that — but it was too late to back out now.
The timer hit zero.
The stream went live.
The chat exploded instantly.
“WAIT IS THIS REAL”
“ARE THEY ACTUALLY TOGETHER IRL”
“OH MY GOD LIAM AND OUTBACK IN THE SAME ROOM”
“OB FACE REVEAL INCOMING??”
Jack let out a shaky breath, fingers tightening on the edge of his hoodie. Liam must have noticed, because suddenly, he was tugging Jack toward him, slinging an arm around his shoulders like it was nothing.
Jack nearly choked.
Liam leaned closer, grinning at the camera. “Alright, chat. This is the moment. You ready?”
Jack shot him a mildly panicked look, and Liam just squeezed his shoulder, reassuring. Jack exhaled, bracing himself — then reached forward and finally moved the camera so he was in frame as well.
For the first time ever, his audience saw him.
The reaction was instant chaos.
“OB IS REAL AND HE’S HOT???”
“BRO WHY DID YOU HIDE FOR SO LONG”
“OUTBACK YOU ARE GORGEOUS PLEASE”
“HE LOOKS SO NERVOUS AWWE”
Jack let out a breathless laugh, running a hand over his face, he had no idea what to say.
Liam, still draped over him, was grinning like an idiot. “See? Told you they’d love you.”
Jack shot him a glare. “Y'know since you're here we could just start boxing on stream, right?”
Liam shrugged, lazily playing with the drawstring of Jack’s hoodie. “I couldn't hurt your pretty face, not after chat just saw it!”
Jack groaned, shoving at Liam’s shoulder, but the bastard barely moved. Instead, Liam just leaned into it, resting his head against Jack’s like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Which, of course, sent the chat into a full meltdown.
“THE WAY HE’S LEANING ON OUTBACK HELLO???”
“ARE THEY?? IS THIS?? WHAT IS THIS."
“THEM BEING TOUCHY IRL TOO I’M GONNA DIE”
“OB'S IS BLUSHINGGGGG”
Jack covered his face with his hands, groaning. “Chat, please. I need you to breathe.”
“Bit rich coming from you,” Liam teased, nudging Jack’s jaw with his shoulder. “You’re all red, mate.”
“Because you won’t stop touching me!” Jack hissed under his breath.
Liam only laughed, dropping his arm from Jack’s shoulders — only to hook two fingers around Jack’s hoodie collar, tugging him slightly closer. “Better?”
Jack let out the most exasperated noise of his life. “Oh my god, you’re the worst.”
The chat loved it.
“THEY’RE FLIRTING. LIVE.”
“I CAN’T TELL IF THEY’RE TOGETHER OR IF STRAIGHT GUYS ARE JUST LIKE THIS HELP”
“DO WE SHIP THIS? I THINK WE SHIP THIS.”
“KKOB CONFIRMED. WE WON.”
Jack groaned, burying his face in his hands. “I hate you all.”
Liam chuckled, finally — finally — giving Jack a little space. “Anyway,” he said, grinning at the camera, “I think Outback here had something else to say.”
Jack sighed, dragging a hand down his face. “Yeah, yeah,” he muttered. “Uh— while we’re here, I guess I should say— hi. I’m Jack.”
That was all it took. The chat exploded again.
“HIS NAME IS JACK. EVERYONE SHUT UP.”
“LIAM AND JACK. JACK AND LIAM. I’M LOSING IT.”
“WE FINALLY HAVE A NAME. THIS IS A MOMENT IN HISTORY.”
“THEY’RE SO OBVIOUSLY IN LOVE SOMEONE HELP”
Liam clapped him on the shoulder, grinning. “Congrats, mate. You’re officially Jack now.”
Jack groaned again, but this time, there was a smile pulling at his lips.
Chat was happy. Liam was happy. And even though this was terrifying, even though his heart was pounding so hard he was sure Liam could hear it, Jack felt something in his chest loosen.
“Alright, chat,” Liam said, leaning against Jack’s kitchen counter with an easy grin. “Since, in my humble opinion, Jack’s face reveal wasn’t chaotic enough, we’ve decided to attempt something even worse— baking.”
Jack groaned, running a hand down his face. “I don’t know why I let you talk me into this.”
“You love me,” Liam shot back automatically.
Jack froze.
Liam, realizing what he’d just said, immediately tried to play it off, smirking. “As a friend, obviously.”
Jack narrowed his eyes at him, but before he could respond, chat was already losing it — though there hadn't been a moment of peace this whole stream.
“DID HE JUST CASUALLY DROP THAT???”
"AS A FRIEND???? SURE LIAM.”
“JACK LOOKS LIKE HE WANTS TO DIE LMAO.”
Jack shook his head, trying to ignore the heat creeping up his neck. “We’re making cookies,” he said, aggressively changing the subject. “That’s it. That’s all we’re doing.”
Liam snorted. “And by ‘we,’ he means me because he’s too scared to actually bake.”
Jack rolled his eyes. “I’m not scared. I just— know my limits.”
Liam clapped his hands together. “Well, lucky for you, I do bake. Occasionally.”
Jack raised a skeptical eyebrow. “Oh yeah? When’s the last time?”
Liam paused. “…A few years ago.”
Jack let out a long, suffering sigh. “We’re gonna die.”
Things went wrong almost immediately.
Jack measured out the flour while Liam attempted to crack eggs into the bowl.
“See, this is easy,” Liam said confidently.
A loud crunch followed.
Jack turned just in time to see Liam staring down at the bowl in horror, half an eggshell floating in the mixture.
Jack gasped. “Oh my god—”
“Fix it!” Liam whisper-yelled, shaking Jack’s arm.
Jack shoved him off, trying to fish the eggshell out while chat tore into him.
“LIAM YOU HAD ONE JOB.”
“SAVE THE BATTER.”
“THEY’RE SO USELESS HELP.”
Jack finally managed to get most of the shell out, exhaling in relief. “Okay. Crisis averted.”
Liam dusted his hands off. “I don’t know why you were freaking out. That’s just extra crunch.”
Jack shoved him. “Shut up.”
Somehow, things got worse.
Liam was in charge of adding sugar. Jack, foolishly trusting him, focused on mixing.
“I’m just saying,” Liam said, dumping something into the bowl, “we could’ve made something cooler. Like a cake shaped like my face.”
Jack scoffed. “You think I have the artistic skill to make a cake look like you?”
Liam grinned. “You could try. You’re always looking at me, anyway.”
Jack fumbled the whisk, splattering batter everywhere.
“LIAM STOP FLIRTING FOR TWO SECONDS.”
“JACK IS SHORT-CIRCUITING.”
“WHERE'S LANCE?? HE NEEDS TO HELP THEM.”
Jack groaned, turning back to the mixture. “Okay, let’s just get these in the oven before I regret everything.”
But then he tasted the batter.
And immediately gagged.
“What the— Liam, what did you put in this?”
Liam blinked. “Uh. Sugar?”
Jack stared at him. “Liam.”
Liam’s face suddenly went pale. “…I may have used the wrong container.”
Jack turned to the counter. Two identical jars sat there. One labeled Sugar. One labeled Salt.
Jack inhaled deeply through his nose. “Liam.”
“I swear they looked the same—”
Jack grabbed a handful of flour and threw it at him.
Liam yelled, stumbling back as white powder covered his hoodie. “MATE!”
“BOYS... STOP... FOR ME 🥺”
“JACK JUST ATTACKED HIM LMAO.”
“REST IN PEACE COOKIES 😭”
After actually using sugar, they managed to get the cookies in the oven. For a few glorious minutes, it seemed like things were going okay.
Then the smoke alarm went off.
Jack and Liam both froze.
“…That’s not good,” Liam said.
Jack raced to the oven, yanking it open to see the cookies had spread way too much, batter dripping onto the hot metal.
Liam coughed. “Sooo… you think they’re done?”
Jack turned, grabbed the oven mitts, and shoved them into Liam’s hands. “Fix it.”
Liam wheezed with laughter as he tried to pull out the baking sheet while Jack flailed, trying to fan the smoke away.
“THEY ALMOST SET THE KITCHEN ON FIRE.”
“LIAM CANNOT BE TRUSTED.”
“NEITHER OF THEM CAN BE TRUSTED.”
Eventually, they managed to save some of the cookies. Kind of. They looked questionable, but they weren’t burnt, so Jack counted it as a win.
Liam picked one up, studying it. “Y’know, they don’t look that bad.”
Jack shot him a glare. “Try it.”
Liam hesitated. “…You first.”
Jack narrowed his eyes. “No. You.”
They stared at each other for a long moment before, at the same time, they both shoved cookies into each other’s mouths.
Liam choked on laughter, nearly falling over. “Oh my god—”
Jack was coughing. “Okay. Okay. It’s not— It's not that bad.”
Liam grinned. “So we’re baking champions, is what you’re saying.”
Jack sighed dramatically. “Sure, Li. Let’s go with that.”
“THEY’RE SO STUPIDLY CUTE HELP.”
“BAKING CHAMPIONS MY ASS.”
“NEW SHIP NAME WHEN???”
Jack shook his head, pulling his hoodie up over his face. “Never again.”
Liam slung an arm around his shoulders, laughing. “Oh, mate. We’re definitely doing this again.”
Jack groaned, but he couldn’t help but smile. Even if they had almost set the kitchen on fire, even if the cookies were barely edible, it was probably the most fun he’d ever had on a stream — and his mind hadn't wandered to Hannah once.
And, judging by the way Liam was still grinning at him like that, he had a feeling it wasn’t going to be the last time.

Off-screen, Jack and Liam’s casual messages turned into long, late-night conversations that stretched on for hours. They started small — Jack tentatively recommending cozy games like Animal Crossing and Spiritfarer to Liam, who would laugh and promise to “give them a shot” (though Jack wasn’t entirely convinced he ever would). In return, Liam tried to coax Jack into trying more action-packed games like Warzone or Apex Legends, teasing him relentlessly about his reluctance — he didn't realize it wasn't because Jack didn't like the games but because he knew he was bad at them.
“C’mon, mate,” Liam said one night, voice teasing in their Discord call. “It’s not all about guns and screaming. There’s strategy too! You might actually like it.”
Jack laughed softly, fiddling with a pen at his desk. “I don’t think you’d want me on your team. I’d probably just end up hiding in a corner and waiting for the match to end.”
“See, that’s where you’d be wrong,” Liam replied, the grin audible in his voice. “You could be my secret weapon. No one expects the farmer to come out guns blazing.”
“I’ll stick to my crops, thanks,” Jack shot back, a smile creeping into his voice.
As the days passed, their conversations deepened. They began talking about things beyond games — favorite movies, childhood stories, and even what they loved (and hated) about streaming.
“Okay, serious question,” Liam said one evening, leaning back in his chair. “What’s your go-to comfort movie? Like, the one you’ll rewatch a million times and never get sick of.”
Jack hesitated for a moment, then admitted, “Probably The Lion King. It’s just… nostalgic, you know?”
“No way,” Liam said, sounding genuinely surprised. “Same here! Well, that and Cars. But only the first one. The sequels don’t hit the same.”
Jack chuckled. “I should’ve guessed you’d pick Cars. It suits you.”
“Oi, what’s that supposed to mean?” Liam shot back, mock-offended.
“It’s a compliment,” Jack replied, his smile audible. “Cars is a great movie.”
Jack was hesitant at first, keeping his replies short and guarded. He’d never been the type to open up easily, and his tendency to overthink made him second-guess everything he said. But Liam’s easygoing nature and genuine interest in getting to know him slowly wore him down.
Liam didn’t just ask questions — he really listened. If Jack mentioned something offhand, like a childhood memory of helping his mom in the garden, Liam would bring it up days later with a casual, “So, were you always into farming games because of that garden story? Or is it just the pixelated veggies that won you over?”
Jack found himself laughing more often, his nerves easing with every conversation. Liam had a knack for making him feel comfortable, slipping in jokes to diffuse any awkwardness and never pushing for more than Jack was ready to share.
“Y’know,” Liam said during one particularly late night, his voice softer than usual, “I think it’s cool how different we are. Like, you’re all about the chill vibes, and I’m… well, I’m me. But it works, yeah?”
Jack smiled, even though Liam couldn’t see it. “Yeah. It does.”
Over time, Jack started looking forward to their nightly calls. They became a constant in his routine, a bright spot in his otherwise quiet life. He’d never expected someone like Liam — so loud and confident, so opposite to him — to want to talk to him so much. But somehow, it just… worked.
One night, as they both sat on a private Discord call, Jack was fiddling with a game controller, nervously biting his lip. Liam’s voice came through his headset, warm and relaxed.
“So,” Liam said, his accent drawing out the word in a way that made Jack smile, “do I just keep calling you Outback forever, or do I get to know the mystery farmer’s real name someday?”
Jack froze, his grip tightening on the controller. He knew Liam was joking — kind of — but the question hit a nerve. “I, uh…” He swallowed hard. “It’s not that I don’t trust you, Li, it’s just… I don’t usually tell people. Like, anyone besides Lance or Este and I've known them for ages.”
Liam didn’t miss a beat. “That’s fair, mate. I get it. I mean, if you don’t want to, no worries. Outback’s a pretty cool name, anyway. I'll just call you O.B. like everyone else does."
The casual response put Jack at ease, but it also made him feel guilty. Liam had been nothing but kind and patient, and deep down, Jack did trust him.
“I…” Jack hesitated, his voice quieter now. “I think I want to tell you. It’s just— it makes me nervous, you know? Like, what if it changes how you see me?”
Liam chuckled softly. “Mate, you’re talking to the guy who screams at pixels and somehow still gets called ‘effortlessly cool.’ I promise, knowing your name isn’t gonna make me think anything less of you.”
Jack smiled faintly, his heart pounding. “Okay. Um… it’s Jack. My name’s Jack.”
There was a beat of silence before Liam replied, his tone soft but teasing. “Jack, huh? Well, it’s nice to officially meet you, Jack.”
Jack let out a shaky laugh, relief flooding through him. “You’re… not disappointed?”
“Disappointed?” Liam scoffed, grinning. “Mate, you’ve got one of the most normal names I’ve ever heard. What was I supposed to expect? Sprout McPumpkin or something?”
Jack laughed for real this time, the tension easing from his shoulders. “Thanks, Liam. For, you know… not making it weird.”
“Jack,” Liam said, his voice warm, “you could’ve told me your name really was Sprout McPumpkin, and I’d still think you’re sick. No pressure, no expectations. Just… be you, yeah?”
From that moment on, Jack felt a little lighter. Liam called him “Jack” occasionally, like a secret just between the two of them, and every time he heard it, Jack smiled.

Jack hesitated before hitting “Post.” The picture wasn’t anything special—just him from the back, showing off his newly shaved and bleached head with little pastel pink hearts dyed onto it. His hands felt clammy as he stared at the screen. The caption was simple: “Made some changes. Hope it’s not too much.”
He’d never shown his face, and even now, he hadn’t revealed much—just a close-up of his hair. But it still felt monumental. Vulnerable. What if people hated it? What if Liam thought it was stupid?
He set his phone down and tried to distract himself with a game, but it wasn’t long before his Discord pinged with an incoming call. Of course it was Liam.
Jack sighed, answering reluctantly. “Hey.”
“Hey? That’s all I get after you drop that?” Liam’s voice came through, a mix of disbelief and excitement. “Mate, why didn’t you warn me you were gonna go full rockstar?”
Jack’s cheeks burned. “It’s not that big of a deal,” he muttered, spinning his chair away from his desk.
“Not a big deal? Jack, you’ve got pink hearts on your head. Pink hearts. You’re basically an indie band’s dream frontman now. Where’s my ‘thanks for the inspo’ credit, huh?”
Jack couldn’t help but laugh at Liam’s over-the-top enthusiasm. “Inspo? Since when are you an expert on pastel hearts?”
“Oi, I’m versatile,” Liam said, mock-offended. “But seriously, it looks sick. You’ve got taste, I’ll give you that.”
Jack bit his lip, fiddling with the hem of his hoodie. “You really think it’s okay? I wasn’t sure if it was too much.”
“Too much? Mate, no. It’s you, and it’s brilliant,” Liam said, his tone softening. “You’re allowed to have fun with stuff like this. And honestly, it suits you. Even if I’ve only got this tiny sneak peek.”
The reassurance made Jack’s chest warm, and he smiled despite himself. “Thanks. I wasn’t sure how people would react.”
“People are gonna love it,” Liam said confidently. “But more importantly, I love it. And when are you gonna let me see the full thing, huh?”
Jack froze, his nerves kicking in again. “Liam…”
“I’m joking,” Liam said quickly, his voice light. “No pressure. I know you’ve got your whole ‘mysterious streamer’ thing going on, and it works for you. But just know that if you ever want to show me, I’m here. No judgment.”
Jack felt his heart squeeze at Liam’s words. “Thanks,” he said quietly. “That… that means a lot.”
“Anytime, mate,” Liam replied, his grin audible. “Now, next question: when are you gonna let me dye your hair? I’ve got ideas.”
Jack laughed, the tension melting away. “Not a chance.”
“Aw, come on! I’d do hearts too. Or maybe flames. Or stars! Something cool.”
“Absolutely not.”
The rest of their call was spent with Liam throwing out increasingly ridiculous hair dye ideas, and Jack laughing so hard his sides hurt. For the first time since posting the picture, he didn’t feel nervous anymore.

outbacksprout OH MY GOD I DID
kkofficial i cant wait to leave!! seriously!!
outbacksprout youre so mean
Jack shivered as he shut the door behind them, rubbing his arms as the cool air faded into the warmth of the house. “You didn’t have to come out with me,” he muttered, not really looking at Liam as he toed off his sneakers.
Liam just shrugged, stretching his arms above his head. “Didn’t wanna let you get murdered by a rogue possum or something.”
Jack snorted, but it was half-hearted. He knew Liam was joking, but he also knew that wasn’t the real reason he’d followed him outside. Liam had felt it — Jack’s mood shifting, the way he’d gone quiet after dinner, the way he kept glancing at the calendar on the fridge.
Two days.
That’s all he had left before Liam got on a plane and went back home.
Jack swallowed hard and turned toward the kitchen, pretending he had something to do, but Liam — of course Liam — leaned against the counter like he wasn’t going anywhere. Like time wasn’t running out.
Jack clenched his jaw and stared down at his hands. “You’ve been here eight days.” His voice came out quieter than he meant it to.
Liam tilted his head, studying him. “Yeah.”
Jack exhaled slowly, pressing his palms against the counter. “It doesn’t feel like eight days.”
Liam didn’t say anything, just watching him, waiting.
Jack bit his lip. He knew he shouldn’t say this. He knew it wouldn’t change anything. But the words had been sitting on his tongue for days, burning a hole in him, and now they were spilling out before he could stop them.
“I don’t want you to leave.”
It came out barely above a whisper, but the weight of it settled between them instantly.
Liam straightened slightly, something shifting in his expression, but Jack couldn’t look at him, couldn’t stand to see whatever was written across his face.
Jack forced a laugh, running a hand through his hair. “I mean, I get it. You’ve got a life back home, you’ve got—” He gestured vaguely. “Streaming, your place, your people.”
Hannah.
The name sat heavy in the back of his mind, but he didn’t say it. He couldn’t. He refused to face the truth this whole week.
Jack swallowed, shaking his head. “But these eight days? They’ve been…” He trailed off, exhaling sharply. “I just— I wish it didn’t have to end.”
Liam was still quiet.
Jack finally forced himself to look at him, his throat tight, chest aching. Liam’s brows were drawn slightly, his mouth parted like he wanted to say something but didn’t know what.
Jack let out a breathless, self-deprecating laugh. “Sorry. I sound pathetic.”
Liam’s eyes flickered. “No, you don’t.”
Jack clenched his fists, nails digging into his palms. He felt stupid. He felt needy. He felt like he had been given something beautiful only to have it ripped away before he could figure out what to do with it.
He was so in love with Liam Lawson it hurt.
It was terrifying.
It was fucking unbearable.
Liam shifted slightly, his fingers flexing against the counter like he wanted to reach for Jack — but he didn’t.
Jack didn’t know if he was relieved or disappointed.
Instead, Liam just sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “You’ll visit, right?”
Jack let out a shaky breath. “Yeah.”
“Good,” Liam murmured.
Jack nodded, staring at the floor. “Good.”
But it didn’t feel good. It felt like a countdown ticking too fast, like the end of something that had barely started.
Jack didn’t know what Liam felt.
Didn’t know if he was holding back or if there was nothing to hold back at all.
And maybe the worst part was — Jack was too scared to ask.
The silence between them was unbearable. Jack couldn’t look at Liam, couldn’t do anything but press his palms harder against the counter, grounding himself against the ache settling deep in his chest. He felt like he’d already lost something, even though Liam was still right there.
Then Liam exhaled sharply, muttered, “Fuck.”
And before Jack could react, Liam surged forward, grabbed him by his black button up shirt, and kissed him.
It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t slow. It wasn’t careful like their first time.
This was desperate. This was messy. This was Liam’s hands fisting in Jack’s hoodie like he was terrified Jack would slip away, like he was done pretending that this wasn’t tearing him apart too.
Jack gasped against his mouth, but Liam swallowed the sound, pressing in closer, tilting his head to deepen the kiss. Jack’s knees nearly buckled, his hands scrambling for something — anything — to hold onto, and he ended up gripping the front of Liam’s shirt so tight it stretched under his fingers.
“Liam,” Jack breathed between kisses, barely able to think, barely able to breathe.
Liam just groaned in response, like the sound of Jack saying his name did something to him. His fingers slipped beneath the hem of Jack’s shirt, his touch burning hot against Jack’s skin, and Jack melted.
There was no hesitation anymore, no second-guessing, no pretending.
Liam walked him backward until Jack’s lower back hit the kitchen counter, and then — then — Liam lifted him onto it, stepping between his legs, hands gripping his waist like he needed to feel him, hold him, claim him.
Jack was dizzy. “Li, you're leaving in two days,” he murmured, dazed.
Liam’s lips were on his jaw, then his throat, teeth scraping just enough to make Jack’s breath hitch.
“I’m still here now,” Liam muttered against his skin. “That’s what matters.”
Jack’s stomach flipped, his head spinning with the weight of that now.
Because now, Liam was all in.
And if this was all he got — if this was just a moment before the inevitable goodbye — Jack would take it.
Liam kissed him again, rough and consuming, and Jack let him.
He barely noticed when Liam lifted him from the counter, barely registered the path to his bedroom, barely cared about anything except the fact that Liam was here.
Right now.
With him.
And Jack didn’t want to let go.

user WHAT THE FUCK
user HOLY SHIT??
user LIAM DID U MEAN TO POST THIS
user what...
this post is no longer available
Liam barely had time to process what he’d just done before his phone started ringing.
He was still lying on Jack’s bed, his chest rising and falling unevenly, his skin warm and marked — Jack’s nails, Jack’s mouth, Jack’s everywhere. The weight of what had just happened was still settling over him, thick and intoxicating, when the sharp vibration of his phone shattered the moment entirely.
Jack, half-asleep beside him, stirred slightly. “Who’s calling you this late?” he mumbled, voice drowsy, his fingers still lazily tracing patterns against Liam’s stomach.
Liam glanced at the screen and swore under his breath.
Hannah.
Liam grabbed his phone and stood up, jaw tight. “I’ll be back,” he muttered, barely looking at Jack as he pulled on his hoodie and slipped out the bedroom door.
Jack didn’t say anything.
Liam stepped outside onto the porch, the night air hitting his too-warm skin, cooling the heat still lingering from what they’d done. He exhaled sharply before finally answering.
The moment he did, Hannah’s voice exploded through the phone.
“Are you insane?!”
Liam winced, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Hannah—”
“Don’t Hannah me, Liam! What the fuck was that? Do you have any idea what you just did?”
Liam clenched his jaw, already knowing exactly what she was talking about.
The pictures.
He had posted them without thinking — reckless, needy, wanting for once in his goddamn life. One of Jack sprawled out on the bed, sheets tangled around his legs, his flushed skin barely covered, the marks Liam had left on him clear. Another of Liam’s own back, scratches running down his shoulder blades — undeniable proof of everything they’d just done.
He had deleted them barely a minute later.
But it was too late.
“I—”
“You think deleting them was enough?” Hannah snapped, her voice sharp and furious. “People saw, Liam. I saw. What the fuck were you thinking?”
Liam ran a hand through his hair, pacing slightly. “It was a mistake. I wasn’t—”
“You weren’t thinking. Yeah, no shit.” She let out a harsh laugh, but there was nothing amused about it. “Do you even care what happens if your parents see that? If my parents see that?”
Liam’s stomach twisted. He knew what she was really saying.
If their parents saw, there was no getting out of this. They would make him marry her faster than he could blink.
Hannah’s voice dropped lower, more controlled, but somehow worse. “You need to leave, Liam. Now.”
Liam froze. “What?”
“You heard me,” she snapped. “Get your shit, book an early flight, and come back. Now.”
Liam’s fingers curled into a fist at his side. “Hannah—”
“I’m serious.” Her voice was cold. “If you don’t, I’ll tell them myself.”
Liam’s breath caught. His grip tightened around his phone. “You wouldn’t.”
Hannah let out a slow, pointed exhale. “Try me.”
Liam felt something crack deep inside his chest.
She would. Of course she would. Because to her, this wasn’t about him, or Jack, or what he wanted. It was about keeping up appearances. It was about making sure neither of them embarrassed their families, making sure Liam did what was expected of him.
He squeezed his eyes shut.
He had two days left. Just two.
But now he had to make a choice.
Stay and risk everything.
Or leave before it all came crashing down.

Twitch Streamer AU — 1.7k words — @ellearts — masterlist
Jack’s stream had been going for about an hour — the viewers unable to see the state of Jack's grown out buzz cut — and as usual, it was pure calmness. He was wandering around his Animal Crossing island, fixing up little details, chatting with his viewers, and occasionally getting distracted by his villagers.
“This guy— Oh my god, chat, this guy right here,” Jack said, stopping in front of one of his villagers’ houses. “This is the one I was talking about.” The camera panned to a grumpy-looking eagle with a red face and furrowed brows sporting an obviously unimpressed expression. “Chat, you guys can't tell me tell me this doesn’t look exactly like Liam.”
His chat instantly erupted:
“NOOOO NOT LIAM LMAO.”
“WHY DOES THIS ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE HIM???”
"nah ob u wrong asl for that 😭😭"
“You’re so dead when he sees this...”
Jack chuckled, shaking his head as if anyone could see him. “I mean, come on! He’s got the same constant ‘I’m done with you’ expression, the attitude, the whole ‘cool but secretly super cute’ thing going on. It’s uncanny.”
He barely had time to read chat’s reactions before his phone started buzzing. His stomach dropped when he saw the caller ID.
“Oh, no,” he muttered, eyes going wide. “Uh. Hang on, chat.” He muted his mic and answered, keeping his voice casual. “Hey, Li.”
“You cunt,” Liam’s voice came through the speaker, half-scolding, half-laughing. “Are you serious? That’s who you think I look like?”
Jack bit his lip, trying not to smile. “I mean… a little?”
“A little?” Liam scoffed. “Mate, she looks angry all the time. Do I look angry all the time?”
Jack snorted. “LiLi, please be honest with yourself.”
Liam groaned dramatically. “Unbelievable. I thought we had something special.”
Jack was grinning now, his nerves fading as he leaned back in his chair. “We do! That’s why I picked a cool villager. She’s my favourite. Plus, she's tough and kind of intimidating but secretly nice. Like you.”
Liam went quiet for a second, and Jack wondered if he’d pushed his luck. But then Liam sighed, his voice softer when he spoke again.
“You’re lucky I like you,” he muttered, then, after a short pause, added, “It’s okay. I love you anyway.”
Jack’s breath hitched. His grip tightened around his phone as his heart pounded in his chest. He could feel his entire face heating up, and he was suddenly very aware that chat was still waiting.
“I— uh—” He swallowed hard, scrambling for words. “I gotta get back to stream.”
Liam chuckled. “Yeah, yeah. Go tell your chat I’m not actually that grumpy.”
“No promises,” Jack muttered, hanging up before Liam could say anything else.
He muted and quicky unmuted his mic, realizing that he hadn't actually gone on mute in the first place and immediately, chat was going insane.
“DID HE JUST SAY ‘I LOVE YOU’????”
“OB AND KIWI??? HELLO????”
“HE LOVES YOU ANYWAY??? BOYFRIENDS CONFIRMED.”
"WHY ARE YOU GUYS IGNORING OB CALLING HIM LILI IM CRYING."
Jack groaned, burying his face in his hands. “I— chat, we’re not talking about that.”
Which, of course, only made them talk about it more. And if Jack spent the rest of the stream avoiding the subject completely, well… no one could blame him.
The moment Jack ended the stream, he didn’t even bother shutting everything down properly. His hands were shaking as he grabbed his phone — he really needed to get back on his anxiety meds — scrolling through his recent messages until he found Liam’s name. He hesitated for half a second before hitting the call button, pressing the phone to his ear as his heart pounded.
Liam picked up almost immediately. “Took you long enough.”
Jack let out a shaky laugh. “I— Liam, what the hell was that?”
“What was what?” Liam replied innocently, though Jack could hear the smirk in his voice. “Me scolding you for comparing me to a permanently pissed-off eagle? Or the part where I told you I love you?”
Jack inhaled sharply. His entire body felt warm, and his brain was scrambling to keep up. “Yeah. Uhm, That part. I mean like I guess friends tell eachother they love them like— like me and Lance do that it's just... you... you've never—”
There was a pause before Liam spoke again, quieter this time. “Did it freak you out?”
Jack shook his head quickly, even though Liam couldn’t see him. Of course Liam couldn't see him, he never had. “No. Just… surprised me.”
Liam hummed on the other end of the line, the sound low and thoughtful. “Yeah? Surprised you how?”
Jack exhaled slowly, trying to gather his thoughts. He didn’t know how to explain it — how his heart had practically jumped out of his chest when Liam had said that so casually, like it was the most normal thing in the world. Like Jack wasn’t going to be replaying it in his head for the next month.
“I dunno,” Jack admitted, gripping the edge of his desk. “I just… I guess I didn’t think you were the type to say that.”
“To say what? That I love you?” Liam asked, and Jack swore he could hear the smirk in his voice.
Jack groaned, squeezing his eyes shut. “Li.”
“What?” Liam laughed, the teasing lilt in his tone making Jack’s stomach flip. “It’s a perfectly normal thing to say. You just said you and Lance do it.”
“Yeah, but—” Jack hesitated, trying to find the words. “It’s different with you.”
The silence that followed made Jack wish he could shove the words back into his mouth. His face burned, and his heartbeat felt deafening in his ears.
Liam was the first to break it. “Different how?”
Jack swallowed hard. “I... Nevermind, I don’t know.”
That wasn’t true. He did know. It was the way Liam’s voice always lingered in his mind, the way he caught himself checking his phone more often just to see if Liam had messaged. It was how, on the nights they stayed up too late talking about nothing and everything, Jack found himself wishing he could actually see him, feel him, be with him — just once.
But none of that was something he could say out loud.
Liam didn’t push. “Guess I’ll take that as a compliment,” he said after a moment, his voice light but softer than before. “Or I’ll just assume you’re flustered.”
Jack scoffed. “I’m not flustered.”
“Sure, mate,” Liam said, clearly amused. “Anyway, you never answered my question.”
Jack frowned. “What question?”
“Did it freak you out?”
Jack hesitated for half a second before answering. “No.”
“Good,” Liam said simply.
That was it. No teasing remark, no attempt to pry. Just good. Jack let the word settle in his chest, warm and steady.
Liam yawned on the other end, and Jack could hear the faint rustling of blankets. “I should let you go,” Liam mumbled. “You’ve had enough of me for one night.”
Jack rolled his eyes, but he was smiling. “Doubt that’s possible.”
There was a pause, then a soft chuckle. “Yeah?”
Jack bit the inside of his cheek, suddenly feeling way too exposed. “Shut up.”
Liam laughed, and Jack could hear the exhaustion in it. “Alright, alright. Night, Outback.”
“Night, Liam,” Jack murmured, listening for the soft click as Liam hung up.
Jack sat there for a long moment, staring at his screen, his fingers twitching like they wanted to call Liam back. Instead, he leaned forward, rubbing his hands over his face.
Different how?
Jack still didn’t have an answer. Or maybe he did, and he just wasn’t ready to admit it.

Jack hadn’t meant to spiral.
It started innocently enough — just scrolling through Instagram while lying on his couch, aimlessly checking notifications. He wasn’t even paying full attention until he saw it:
hannahstjohn liked your comment.
Jack blinked at the name, his stomach twisting with a weird sense of familiarity. He vaguely recognized it — he was sure he’d seen it pop up in Liam’s likes before — but he’d never really thought about it, hundreds of people liked all of Liam's posts. She was different.
Curiosity got the best of him. He tapped on her profile, expecting — what? He wasn’t sure.
Her page was public. That made it worse.
The first few pictures were harmless — polished selfies, beach sunsets, aesthetic coffee shots. But the more Jack scrolled, the more uneasy he felt.
Because there he was. Liam.
In photo after photo, standing beside her with his arm slung casually around her shoulders, both of them grinning like they had the world figured out. As if they were eachother's world.
Jack’s stomach dropped.
One picture in particular made his fingers freeze. A sunlit, golden-hour shot of Liam kissing her cheek, her smile wide and radiant. The caption?
“Home.”
Jack’s chest felt tight. He didn’t even realize he’d stopped breathing until he exhaled, forcing himself to keep scrolling, to find something — anything — that told him he was overreacting. He had to be, he hadn't even met Liam in person so he had to have been being overdramatic.
Maybe they were old photos. Maybe they weren’t even dating. Maybe Liam had just never thought to bring her up.
But then there was another post, barely a month old — a blurry mirror selfie of them tangled up together on a couch, Liam half-asleep against her shoulder.
Jack’s mouth went dry.
His phone suddenly felt too heavy in his hands, like it was pressing down on his chest. He locked the screen and tossed it onto the couch beside him, staring at the ceiling.
He wasn’t stupid. Liam had never said anything about being into guys. He had no reason to. Jack had never even asked.
But still. He thought about the late-night calls, the teasing, the easy way Liam said I love you anyway like it meant nothing.
And now, all Jack could think was: Of course it meant nothing.
His chest ached in a way he didn’t quite know how to name. In a way it hadn't ached in years and he hoped it never did again.

Eventually — Lawhan Mixed Media AU
Twitch Streamer AU — 4.6k words — @ellearts — masterlist
The second Jack ended the stream, he let out the longest sigh of his life and slumped back against the counter. “Holy shit.”
Liam, still leaning against him with a lazy grin, stretched his arms overhead. “That was brilliant.”
Jack rolled his eyes but couldn’t fight his own smile. “We almost burned the kitchen down, Liam.”
“Yeah, but almost doesn’t count,” Liam shot back, nudging Jack’s side. “And chat loved it. You saw them.”
Jack huffed a laugh, shaking his head. “Yeah, yeah. I guess.”
Liam didn’t move away, though. If anything, he leaned in closer, their shoulders still pressed together. His arm was still slung loosely around Jack’s shoulders, like it belonged there — like they belonged here.
Jack should’ve pulled away. But he didn’t.
Instead, he turned his head slightly, just enough to catch Liam watching him.
The grin was still there, but softer now — less cocky, more real. His eyes flickered down, just for a second, before he met Jack’s gaze again.
Jack’s heart stuttered.
Liam had to hear it, had to feel it with how close they were, but if he did, he didn’t say anything.
Instead, his fingers curled slightly against Jack’s hoodie, his touch feather-light but there.
Jack swallowed hard. “What?” he asked, barely above a whisper.
Liam tilted his head, like he was debating something. “Dunno,” he murmured. “Just thinking.”
Jack exhaled sharply, forcing a laugh. “That’s new.”
Liam smirked, but it was softer than usual. “Yeah. I guess.”
Jack should’ve looked away. Should’ve made a joke, should’ve done something to break the tension.
But he didn’t.
He just stood there, frozen, as Liam shifted his weight — slow, deliberate — until their noses almost brushed.
Jack felt his breath hitch, felt Liam’s fingers tighten ever so slightly where they rested against his shoulder. He wasn’t sure who moved first, but suddenly Liam’s lips were brushing against his in the lightest, softest touch.
Barely a kiss, just a question hanging between them.
Jack inhaled sharply, and that was all it took — Liam closed the distance, tilting his head as his lips crashed against Jack’s.
It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t tentative. It was hungry.
Jack barely had time to react before instinct took over, before his fingers twisted into the fabric of Liam’s hoodie, pulling him in like he couldn’t stand the space between them. Liam made a sound — something between a sigh and a groan — his hands gripping Jack’s waist, grounding, demanding.
Jack’s heart was hammering so hard he could feel it in his throat. Liam kissed him like he meant it — like this wasn’t just some impulsive, heat-of-the-moment mistake. Like he had thought about this, wanted it, needed it as badly as Jack did.
Liam bit at Jack’s bottom lip, just enough to make him gasp, and that was all Liam needed to deepen the kiss, his fingers tightening where they gripped Jack’s hips. Jack pressed closer without thinking, parting his lips, letting Liam take.
The warmth of Liam’s body, the taste of him, the desperation in the way he kissed — it was overwhelming in the best way. Jack had spent so long wondering what this would feel like, what Liam would taste like, and now that he had it, it was so much worse than he expected.
Because now he knew.
Knew how Liam’s breath stuttered when Jack tugged at his hoodie, knew the way his hands flexed against Jack’s waist like he was holding back from more.
By the time they finally broke apart, Jack was breathless, his lips tingling, his head spinning. Liam was just as wrecked, eyes dark, breathing uneven as he rested their foreheads together.
Jack licked his lips, dazed. “Holy shit.”
Liam huffed out a laugh, his fingers twitching against Jack’s side. “Yeah.”
Jack’s chest was rising and falling too fast, his brain still scrambling to process what had just happened.
Then Liam smirked.
“Been wanting to do that for a while,” he murmured, voice rough.
Jack swallowed hard, his grip still firm on Liam’s hoodie. “Yeah?”
Liam nodded, brushing his nose against Jack’s. “Yeah.”
Liam was smiling. Smirking, actually, but it was too damn fond for Jack to be annoyed.
“Y'know I told you we’d make a good team,” Liam murmured.
Jack let out a breathless laugh, shaking his head. “Mate, You’re so annoying.”
Liam grinned. “Yeah, but you like me anyway.”
Jack groaned, shoving at his shoulder — but Liam barely moved, just laughed, and Jack thought, God, I’m in so much trouble.
Because he did like him and for the first time he was sure Liam knew it too.

“It’s not that weird, just give me your hand.”
“It’s pretty weird, bro.”
Liam was doing loops around the Aussie's room as if Jack would chase him down for it. Jack followed him but didn’t grab him quite yet, baring his teeth in a grin.
“You and Max did it!”
“Yeah, but you’re like, desperate for it.”
“I just want to see if mine are bigger!”
“Is it really that big of a deal?!”
Liam finally gave up on dodging him, planting his feet by the bathroom door. Jack crept closer, clearly expecting Liam to try and juke him.
“If it’s not a big deal, then just let me do it,” Jack shot back, shifting his weight from foot to foot. He stood less than a yard away now, looking at Liam like he was prey. Liam could feel the back of his neck burning under his collar.
“Fuck no, dude.”
“I know why you don’t want to.” Jack licked his lower lip, which was an insane thing to do over an argument so stupid. Liam couldn’t help but bite his own. “You know my hand is going to be bigger.”
A stupid argument with an even dumber insult attached to it. It wasn’t worth it, but Liam lunged for him, trying to tackle Jack. He let out a shout, barely stepping out of his way. Liam didn’t get the full-body slam he wanted, but he knocked Jack to the side, and his friend was wheeling back as he tried to find his balance. Liam pivoted and let momentum carry him at Jack, crashing him into the wall.
“Ow, dude!” Despite the cry, Jack's eyes were going wide with excitement.
He scrambled to shove Liam off and got checked back again. It knocked the air out of him, but he still wore that shit-eating grin. Liam tried to pin him by the shoulders but Jack brought his knee up, thankfully missing Liam's crotch by a few inches. It still landed sharply into the joint of his hip and he groaned, falling back a pace. Jack was on him in a second, not taking the chance to retreat but pushing Liam back into the bathroom door instead. It rattled on its hinges and Liam gritted his teeth at the throb of pain radiating from where he had hit the handle.
That seemed to get Jack more than anything else, the fierce look on his face softening for a moment. He didn’t offer reassurances, but he eyed Liam with an obvious question of Was that too far?
It was a stark reminder of the circumstances they were in. They were together, in person, and though they had met up a few times now, it still felt strange. Liam knew all of his boundaries with Max, they had lived together and everything, but Jack and the other's were a stumbling block. Everyone else was easier, considering they didn’t tend to be touchy in the first place, but Jack-
Well, Jack wasn’t necessarily too touchy either, but Liam kept finding excuses to get his hands on him.
“What, afraid to come closer?” Liam asked, jutting his jaw out as if he was tough and not slightly curled over from the pain. Jack took another beat of silence to stare. “Come on, Jackie. You’re gonna let me win that easy?”
“I’m the one who threw you into the door.” Jack rolled his eyes but he started advancing, putting his hands up and making claws like he was Nosferatu. Liam scoffed, stepping out from the door, and they collided again.
Their wrestling was less coordinated now, just flailing limbs and shoving at each other. Jack started giggling at some point, pleased with himself for reasons beyond Liam’s understanding. He was too busy trying to ram his shoulder into Jack hard enough to knock him back onto the bed closest to them. At some point, that had become the goal. It was hard to gather up enough force when Jack kept pulling him back in. He was more trying to grapple Liam than anything, giving up on fighting back when he could just take them both down in a blaze of glory. He knew Jack. That had to be the plan brewing behind his eyes, bright against the red flush across his face.
Liam retreated a step, panting. Jack’s laughter grew to his goofy fucking villain cackle, malicious and overdramatic, and Liam braced his feet on the ground. He let his friend get into it, the full head tip and raised hands, then plowed into him so they both went flying onto the bed. Jack’s laugh turned to a wheeze in a heartbeat, sounding more like air being let out of a balloon, and Liam scrambled to pin him by the wrists.
“You’re so done, mate! You’re trash!” Liam taunted, shifting his weight forward as he loomed over Jack. His friend seemed lost for words, staring up at him with a blank expression, and Liam suddenly saw himself. He had Jack on a modest twin bed, trapped beneath him with his hands around Jack’s wrists. He was already warm in the face from exertion, but his head seemed to buzz at the realization.
They were both silent, neither of them finding the words, and Jack’s eyes flew open wide. He squirmed, Liam slipped, and their bodies pressed together as he lost his balance. Liam had no question about what had surprised Jack when he felt the bulge against his thigh. It stole the logic from his head, too. Jack was trying to wrestle him off still and mostly succeeding in rubbing his body against Liam’s.
“Oh my God, you’re trying to fuck me,” Liam said, the realization spilling from his lips just as abruptly as it arrived to him.
“Who said that I wouldn’t be the one fucking you?” The roll of Jack’s hips was too purposeful this time to be an accident, slotting their thighs together so that they were nearly joined at the hip. The feeling of Jack against him, only a few soft layers of fabric between them, was enough to draw a gasp from Liam’s lips. “I think I’m handling this a lot better than you are. You can lay back and take it.”
“Say that once you’re able to pin me, mate.” Liam let the adrenaline rush of competition take over, fighting to keep Jack down against the bed as he surged up.
For a moment, he was sitting in Jack’s lap as his friend managed to get upright. Jack shook off his hold and went for Liam’s shirt, managing to snag the hem and pull it halfway off. Liam knocked him back down blindly, and Jack let out a pained noise that sent a wave of pure want down Liam’s body. He pulled his shirt off the rest of the way, straddling Jack’s hips to keep him pinned as he tossed the offending clothing away.
Jack was dazed, looking up at him with his mouth agape. He had stopped fighting, just giving him a hazy, satisfied grin. “Okay, fine, you’re right. I’m throwing.”
“Oh, I’m sure you’re throwing and not just getting your ass handed to you,” Liam barked back. He was moving on instinct now, dragging Jack’s shirt up over his head next. His glasses clattered as Liam’s hand banged into them, and Jack let out a hiss, jerking at the pain. Liam disregarded it, tossing the shirt aside before placing Jack’s glasses back on his face.
“Wow, thanks,” Jack said in a deadpan, and Liam waggled his eyebrows.
“I want to see them fog up.”
“Ugh.” Despite the groan, he could feel Jack twitch against him, tantalizingly close to his own cock. Liam wouldn’t be opposed to dragging this out until Jack came in his pants, but he wasn’t sure he had faith in himself to outlast his friend. He still gave an experimental rock of his hips just to see the way that Jack reacted, his throat bobbing as he swallowed hard. “Go on, Li. Take your time.”
“You cannot say that shit to me right now, Jackie, that’s crazy.”
“Says the guy calling me Jackie.”
Liam leaned in, pressing a hand against Jack's chest to keep himself steady as he said, “You like it when I call you Jackie, but if you want, I can call you Outback.”
He let his voice get breathy on Jack's name, a mocking moan, and the noise Kack made back was nearly a whimper. He cracked, averting his eyes and half-heartedly sniping back, “As I said. Take your time, Outback.”
“Maybe I will.” Outback grinned at the unspoken retreat, Liam's hands wandering over Jack's body. He didn’t think he was into chest hair, but he didn’t deny himself the pleasure of running his fingers over Jack's. The hair flowed with the lines of his chest, adding definition to an otherwise lanky frame, and he licked his lower lip as the hair thickened down his navel. “I could do this all day.”
“You keep telling yourself that. You’re as horny as a high schooler.”
“Not as bad as you at least.”
“Fuck off,” Jack said, his head falling back against the pillows, and Liam finally slipped his fingers under his waistband. He had to shuffle back on his knees to pull them off, revealing the most generic white boxers Liam had ever seen. He dithered for a moment, starting at the brand name scrawled in blue across the elastic, and Jack bucked his hips to break him from his chance. “Hello? You still with me?”
“You can’t laugh at me,” Liam said, like an idiot, and Jack shot up at the chance to laugh at Liam. “Turn over, actually. We’re doing doggy style.”
“But you wanted to see my glasses fog up,” Jack reminded him, eyes wandering without shame over Liam's bare chest. He propped himself on one elbow and touched his stomach with the other hand, tracing lines between a few scattered freckles or moles. Liam's lungs felt too large for his rib cage, struggling to get enough air.
“You can’t laugh.”
“I won’t,” Jack promised, not hiding the way that his fingers crossed on the hand holding him up. Liam sighed but tugged down his sweatpants, revealing the tacky Lightning McQueen boxers underneath. “Oh my God. Are these from the boys’ section in Target?!”
“Don’t open your damn mouth again unless you’re moaning,” Liam shot back, the words a little too hasty to be threatening, and Jack grinned. To his credit, he didn’t laugh, and Liam shoved his boxers down as fast as possible. “Just lay there and take it like a good Jackie.”
“Odd choice of words. Care to elaborate?” Jack raised his eyebrows but he fell back against the bed, his hands falling around his head. He had an inch or two on Liam, but he looked small below him, waiting with hooded eyes and an unrelenting blush. Liam hooked his fingers around the elastic of Jack's boxers, tugging and letting it snap back against his skin. Jack flinched, his entire body twitching, and softer, he muttered, “Fuck.”
The quiet word sent another wave of warm, tingling nerves through him. Liam grabbed his underwear again, pulling it down for real and tossing it vaguely toward wherever he had sent the rest of their clothes. Jack's cock bobbed up as it was freed, aching hard and oozing at the tip, and Liam remembered something very important.
“Oh, I’m going to fuck you in the ass.”
Jack let out a laugh, startled, trying to be mocking. “What did you think was going to happen, Lawson?”
Getting last-named felt strange, a fluttering spark of temptation that tried to drag up images of him below Jack instead of their current predicament. Or bent over and scolded coldly like a misbehaving— he crushed the thought, running a hand through his hair to cover up his lapse in judgment. “You won’t get wet. Should I like, spit? D’you think that would be enough?”
Jack's face pinched up in disgust. “Check my sweatpants pockets.”
Liam was moving before he realized the implication there, scooping up the black pants and feeling the pockets. As his fingers wrapped around a travel-sized container, it registered, and he turned slowly before letting the pants drop from his hands.
“You wanted this to happen.” He looked down at the bottle. It wasn’t even lotion, just fully water-based lube with a heart on the logo and a flirty tagline beneath. “You planned this.”
“Plan is a strong word,” Jack said, flustered but not half as embarrassed as he should have been. “I was considering possibilities and covering all of my bases, really. It’s a testament to my intellect that I got this far.”
“You’re such an incel.”
“No, I’m a chad. I’m a mega-chad.”
Liam poured the lube over his fingers rather than challenge that embarrassing statement, spreading it generously across them. He returned to the bed, climbing over Jack and tilting his hand to let some of the lube drip off onto his cock. Jack gasped at the cool shock, his hips bucking, and Liam grinned.
He was too impatient to wait longer, pressing his middle finger to Jack's hole. He circled with his fingertip for a moment, feeling him flutter at the sensitive nerves Liam was teasing, then pushed into him. Jack let out a choked noise, clenching, and Liam gave a mocking coo.
“Need a moment, Jackie?”
“Liam,” Jack shot back, failing to find any decent comeback. “You… suck. It’s been a while.”
“I’m not the first guy to fuck you?” Liam leered, working his finger in and out in small, gentle motions. “Damn. Guess I’ll have to ruin you for the rest of them.”
“What, and this isn’t your first time fucking a guy?” Jack scoffed. Liam bit his lower lip, and after a stretch of silence, Jack's eyes went wide. “You’re kidding.”
“I’m not queer like you, bro.”
“You have your finger in my asshole, Liam. Fuck, Lance would have a field day.”
Liam thrust it in harder for that and Jack arched into it, letting out a choked-back moan. It wasn’t as different from pussy as he’d guess. Tighter, more friction, and nothing he could finger for a little more lubrication, but it was easy to find a tried and true rhythm, pushing in and out. Jack had given up on bitching for the moment, rolling his hips to guide Liam further into him. He whined when Liam pulled his hand back, the noise pitching up when he pushed two in this time.
He was panting as Liam opened him up, his chest rising and falling with every breath. His blush had crept down to his collarbones, his skin gleaming, and Liam swooped down before he could think about it. He ran his tongue up Jack's neck, licking up a bead of sweat. He could feel it on his mouth when Jack sighed, his adam’s apple hitching up, and he moved up to his ear. He bit the lobe, working it between his teeth, and Jack fucked himself on Liam's fingers.
“Please,” he gasped out, and Liam let go to press his lips to the hinge of his jaw. “Fuck, Li, get on with it.”
“All day, baby,” he reminded him and Jack let out an annoyed scoff. Liam searched around with his fingers, focusing on his face and watching the minute reactions. When his lower lip trembled, a whine pulled from his throat, Liam grinned and pressed against the bundle of nerves he had found. Jack keened this time, rutting down into his hand and pumping electric excitement through Liam's veins. “You like that?”
“Yeah,” Jack admitted, holding Liam's gaze. His mouth was wet and desperation was clear on his face. Every thought behind his eyes seemed to beg for Liam. He kissed him to reassure the frantic want, pushing a third finger into him. Jack moaned into the kiss and Liam pushed his tongue into his mouth.
He worked him faster now, avoiding his prostate, and Jack was letting out increasingly needy noises. Liam swallowed each of them, waiting until Jack started tensing up and whacking his arm before pulling his fingers free. He tried to shift back from their embrace at the same time, give them some space between them, but Jack hooked both arms around his shoulders and hauled him back down. His body was hot against Liam's, damp with perspiration, and Liam sighed against his lips.
With one hand, he guided his cock to Jack's hole. Even with the preparation, he squeezed Liam's tip as he eased into him, and Liam groaned. “Fuck, Jackie. Outback. You’re so tight.”
Jack didn’t have a response for that, just a wordless mumble as he pushed back against Liam. Liam sunk further in, inch by inch, and Jack rutted up against him when their hips met. Jack's cock was hard between their stomachs and Liam could feel his pre-cum smeared on his skin.
They were both still for a moment, just sharing the same air. Every breath one of them took, the other could feel it on their lips, their chest, every inch of skin. Jack's hold on Liam was loose now, his arms draped over his shoulders, and Liam rolled them over from missionary onto their sides to let his own grip relax. Jack moaned as Liam shifted inside of him, hitching one knee up for a better angle, and Liam rocked their hips together.
“Can I,” Liam started then faltered.
Jack was so tight around him, so warm, and all he could hear was the way he panted. His lips were bitten raw and his stubble was rough against Liam's bare face. He could leave friction burn if he wanted to, a lingering mark of whatever this was, and it took imagining Lance and Max seeing that for it to fully register in his mind. He was fucking Jack, balls deep in him, one of his favorite people on Earth and certainly his biggest annoyance. If he thought about it too hard, he was worried he was going to cum without even moving like a virgin or a Mormon or something.
“You can move, if that’s what you were going to say,” Jack said, nudging his knee into Liam's side and cutting through the ridiculous plan he was spiraling into. “You could have ages ago.”
“Alright, calm down, cunt,” Liam muttered, rolling his hips in small circular motions. Reasonably, he knew that this was the same as any other sex; put his dick in, take his dick out, repeat until they moaned—
But seeing Jack looking at him was like nothing else. He was so wrecked, his eyes dark with want and blood flooding through his face, and his hair curled against the pillows. His lips were wet with Liam's spit and Liam couldn’t help but nip at it, hoping it would swell and bruise beneath his teeth. Jack met his strokes as he picked up the speed, and the clap of their hips meeting filled the air. Liam grabbed the leg that Jack had slung over him, pulling it higher so he could push further in, and Jack broke their kiss to moan.
“Please, please,” he breathed, not finishing the thought in favor of grabbing Liam by the back of his head.
He dug his fingers into his hair, pulling the strands taut, and Liam couldn’t be held responsible for the way he snapped into Jack at that, much harder than before. It felt like Jack had cut the breaks on a runaway train as Liam kept fucking into him, losing any sense of 'don’t cum in a minute like a virgin, do not, do not fucking cum, Liam,' chasing his pleasure. Every time their hips met, Jack gasped as if it was an entirely new sensation, and the way he pushed back against Liam was far more orchestrated than Liam's frantic thrusts. It added up to an overwhelming, unplaceable pattern, leaving Liam unsure of how deep each thrust was going to be. Jack's glasses fogged around the bottom with every breath.
Shit, his glasses really did fog up, and it was so much hotter than such a stupid detail deserved to be.
He could feel the way that his stomach tightened as he got closer and he knocked his head against Jack's jaw. Jack tilted his head back obediently, baring his neck, and Liam tucked his face against it.
He had hoped that it would ground him, but instead, all he could smell was sex and sweat and the way their bodies mingled. Liam let out a desperate keening noise, his thrusts turning to erratic grinding as he spilled into Jack, and Kack moaned, low and shaky. He still rocked against Liam's cock, trying to milk him as much as he could before Liam pulled out. Liam scoffed and grabbed Jack's cock, pumping his hand frantically between them.
“C'mon, baby, cum for me,” he whispered, tilting his head so that his lips brushed against his ear, and he earned a whimper for his efforts. “You’ve gotta be close now, I can feel you clenching around me. Just let go. Outback, cum for me, babe.”
Jack came apart at that, his body jerking as he spilled against both of their stomachs before he fell limp against the bed. Liam could feel himself melting the same way, all of the energy draining from him and his muscles going slack. Jack's leg was still around him, Liam's hand lax where it curled around his thigh, and Liam stroked the pale skin there. Jack hummed, his eyes fluttering shut, and Liam let himself stare.
Jack was always so goofy, pulling dramatic expressions and jabbering on and making a fool of himself. Liam had almost forgotten that beneath the messy hair, dumb smiles, and unshaven stubble, his friend could be handsome. It was hard to place exactly what it was, but there was something undeniably enchanting about his face. Maybe that was just the glow of sex on his skin, or exhaustion softening his thoughts.
“Jackie?” Liam said, not quite sure what thought was going to follow it up. Jack's eyes opened a sliver, just a hint of blue-gray meeting his, and Liam cleared his throat, not actually saying anything.
Jack shook his head, wordlessly vetoing the silence and sitting up with a groan. He rubbed where his leg met his hip, grimacing. He was bound to be sore in the morning. The thought made Liam warm and twitchy all over again and he failed to quell the mental image of Jack squirming in his spot on the bed.
His boxers hitting his face was more effective for ending that fantasy, Lightning coming at him in what felt like slow-mo before the fabric hit his face and blocked out his vision. Jack cackled. Liam went to shove him and Jack grabbed him by the wrists.
“Nope, not letting you do that again,” he said, far too gleeful, and Liam shook the boxers loose. “We should get dressed. You want to shower?”
“I wasn’t going to,” Liam said, his thoughts still stuttering between reality and images of Jack's uncomfortable flushed face, and Jack shrugged.
“Alright, suit yourself. Have fun wiping that jizz off with your shirt or whatever.” He waved a hand at Liam's chest with a look of mock disgust, as if he wasn’t directly responsible, and pushed off the bed. “I’ll be nice and clean on my own then.”
It took until Jack had disappeared into the bathroom and started the shower for it to click in Liam's mind that Jack had meant shower together. He stumbled over the bedding as he tried to book it after him, staring at the ajar door. “Wait, Jackie, save some hot water for me!”
The only response was an all-too-knowing laugh, and Liam groaned as he chased the inviting sound.
