soooo a while back i slapped @simdertalia's simlish nirvana rock band graphic on s4marigold's lace sweater. and ive been thinking about it ever since.

thanks for 400 followers!! i do not know why you're here and it scares me a little but thank you.

like i said this uses s4marigold's lace sweater and it does include the mesh!! it looks a bit warped... all the time, but thats just because the mesh itself is baggy. no idea how it looks on masc frames but it shouldnt be frame restricted. 20 swatches, custom thumbnails, alphabetical order.

i made the idkhow graphic myself (you can download it here if you want it for whatever reason), but the rest of the graphics will be linked with credit under the cut.

lookbook challenge (#3)

here’s another! @livinginalandfill requested for a fusion between fantasy and steampunk. thanks for sending in the suggestion, shelly! 

there wasn’t a specific oc who was mentioned, so i went with jin-kyong! the fantasy element isn’t as obvious, but i saw @waekey’s key accessory and had to incorporate it somehow. 

i really wanted to try creating a more ‘run down’ steampunk-themed doll. you use the key on her back to wind her up, and she either speaks or moves! i suppose the fantasy element comes into place when you think of it as a doll who came to life...

Im a first year medical school student and my final exam dates just released. Im honestly so lost on how to prepare for them. They will be in late January. Any advice on how to get through it or how you go about tackling them?

hello!!! start with the subjects that are hardest to you, then make a study plan. I just use notion for this (the calendar method) so I can easily move things around when I get behind a day or two. start with the hardest, plan how many hours you intend to study for each of them after your classes, and go through them.

for example,

my study schedule recently after my 8-9hours classes has been:

requirement 1 requirement 2 requirement 3 shifting exam prep lec shifting exam prep lab others: > prev med (2hrs) > CD radio anki (2hrs) > CD radio 2 (1hr)

in the "others" category is the only category where I can squeeze in my final exam prep on top of my shifting exams and requirements (exams and requirements the next day or two). I have to do them after I finish my prep and reqs so I don't usually finish them because I also need sleep so I do some of them during my breaks.

if you don't have classes, endless requirements, and exams like me and just have to review for your final exams - I suggest make a daily schedule that you can follow everyday. remember to stick to that schedule!! but also take rests :) because it's the most important thing so we can continue doing what we do ❤️ I wish you good luck!!! :) I hope it helps.

As for advice, I'll break it down by subjects, that'll be more helpful, I hope?

I personally struggled with anatomy because it was a sudden and kind of a vast subject, I had trouble remembering all the nitty gritty details. I'll recommend you draw a lot of diagrams when you're reading a topic, they don't have to be super clean or pretty, just good enough for you to understand. Refer to as many atlases you want, Netters was definitely the best :') Grey's Anatomy for Students was a massive help, and I still refer to it.

I also relied heavily on YouTube channels like

AnatomyZone

Armando Hasudungan

Ninja Nerd Lectures

Khan Academy Medicine

Dr Najeebs Lectures

Geeky Medics

Medical Animations

and other tutorial channels for little topics here and there (esp embryology)

As for physio and biochem, I'll recommend you read from standard textbooks like Harpers and Guyton / Ganong, no matter what your seniors and peers tell you (because you'll see as you go on, that most of the curriculum will nudge you towards books by local authors, which are somewhat more confusing and lacking in certain core concepts, at least that's what I felt). The standard textbooks will definitely more challenging to go through the first time, but trust me, the basic concepts you'll build will pay off all through your future years! :D

Thirdly, make your own notes! And keep them nice and fresh in a big fat notebook, because you'll be referring to them all through the future years, up until final MB lol 😂

I wish I'd done this part myself more stringently. My first and second year notes are now all scattered all throughout a lot of notebooks and I'm perpetually looking through a swarm of stuff just to find one topic, you get me? :') so, organisation from day 1 is the key!

Next up, you n I both know how memorisation heavy the Indian curriculum can be, and how marks oriented it all gets :')

So I'd advice you stock up on a bunch of previous years MB / semester questions of your college / University board beforehand and keep practicing! Get them from your seniors or bookstore in your college, they should be available.

Go attend your clinics/wards from day 1, don't be discouraged by seniors who might scoff at you for going forwards from early on. Be curious, ask questions, talk to your professors about things you didn't understand, and always remember to ask for help! If group study works for you, then find two or three people who you can form a study group with and study together!

Apart from these, I'll say don't be too intimidated by your professors and peers (and esp some overacheiving ones who'll constantly put your self esteem to shreds, :'D they'll be there)

But don't let them get the best of you. Remember, you're here because you're curious, you love knowing things, you want to know how the human body works, and your ultimate goal is to be a good human being and a compassionate doctor to people who come to you, vulnerable and in need of help. How you empathise with their problems and are kind to them in their times of need will speak much more about your professional ethics than how much fancy technical nitty gritties of medicine you know or how many shining achievements you have on a piece of paper :')

i’m quite the self-deprecating fool myself, so this kind of took a while...but here’s five:

my current hairstyle. i got my hair cut just last weekend and finally got a length i’m really happy with. it’s close to my current icon!

how red lipstick looks on me. no joke, i’d always go for a red lip pre-covid (can’t wear much lipstick now because of masks). tbh, red is pretty much one of my go-to colors--even for clothes.

i give good hugs. or at least, my friends say so? i’m a very affectionate person who loves hugging her friends on the regular. i don’t think i’ve hugged any friends since last year--the pandemic has been rough on people with physical touch as a love language...

i’m great at doing my eyeliner. it’s taken me a few years to perfect my cat eye and it only takes a minute for me to do it in the morning. i think i was mostly ‘known’ for that in college, and even at work.

i’d like to think that i’m very loyal when it comes to my creative projects. coa is something i’ve had, for instance, since 2015. and before coa, i also had some longterm projects that stuck around for literal years. unfortunately i’m a one-track mind kind of girl, but i guess a benefit of that is just putting my all into whatever my current interest is. //shrug

i hope you don’t mind that 3/5 are aesthetics-based--that’s actually a pretty good improvement on my end since i’m not exactly the most confident about how i look. ��
