I think Whedon wanted his the-boyfriend-becomes-the-big-bad-when-you-sleep-with-him metaphor and he wanted his season finale with the maximum possible angst for the protagonist and I don’t think he thought very much about how those things fit together. Angel is cursed again just in time for Buffy to have no choice but to kill him, because that’s the most dramatic possible outcome. but accidentally I think Whedon said what he believed to be true: that even if you can rediscover the good and lovable parts of the person who hurt you, in order to stop your world from ending, you have to kill those parts just as much as you have to kill the bad parts. any repentance is too little too late. if the people who hurt you aren’t dragged into hell by their sin, then we all get sucked into hell with them, so you have to have the scapegoat, you have to have the monster who is set apart and rejected completely. you cannot really forgive and have the world keep turning, because there’s no one to reverse the consequences of sin.

It's wild because I have exactly one episode of Vampire Diaries left and I've been saving it since *checks blog* a little over a week ago (versus the six episodes a night I was watching back in season 1) and I keep telling myself I have to watch the ending if only so I know what I'm working with in fic but also I do want to see the return of Elena (and Katherine) but also I don't want to see Stefan die (or Damon and Elena in a flashforward apparently? How will they have time for all this, honestly?) but I do want to see how they manage to break the curse with Bonnie still alive (but maybe it wouldn't be so bad to write my fic without knowing) but I don't know. I'm notorious for not watching the last few episodes of shows I love (White Collar, Psych, Once Upon a Time, although that last I ragequit over many minor grievances with multiple seasons left so it's not really the same thing) but I keep telling myself that if you don't watch the end of a thing then you just have less of the thing that you love but like I turned the TV on to watch it just now and I'm actually so nervous? I both do and don't want to watch it so intensely, so I had to open up tumblr and blog about it. I could save it another week but I want to watch it before the intensity of my obsession starts to fade but I know this is going to hurt me, emotionally and profoundly. Maybe I can stretch it out to two episodes by stopping in the middle or something idk. But aaaaaaaaa I don't know I'm not ready but I feel like I have to watch it. Help me I don't know. I need some of you internet people to come over and watch this with me or something lol I don't know. I'm so nervous I'm not prepared but I don't want to put this off forever either. And once it's done I could start rewatching. But like, aaaaaaaaa!!

okay i was a teenager and did think he was hot and looked past every single red flag and this cannot be ignored. However.

I feel like I’m in a headspace where I really am in the mood to read urban fantasy more than anything else, part of me wants to start the Lynburn Legacy reread I’ve been wanting to start for a while and apparently unspoken is quite cheap on iBooks so that’s doable but I’m already doing my in depth trc reread buddy read with notes + rereading other things more casually. If I do the TLL reread I’ll definitely liveblog it because I want to propagandize it to my followers who are here for other modern or urban fantasy I talk about lol. Maybe I should read a Sarah Rees Brennan book I haven’t read yet? I also have been wanting to start reading the Vampire Chronicles but I think I should leave that for when I have more concentration to give over to it / my brain is processing new content better. The TVD books are another possibility, if nothing else I think that could be really funny. There are other possible candidates but if someone wants to recommend me a thing now is your chance

If only Damon revolved around Stefan the way Dean did around Sam 😔 In TVD it seems to be the other way around. Well, Damon's more obsessed with tormenting Stefan and causing him eternal misery, while Stefan continues to sacrifice everything for Damon.

But seriously, please do a TVD liveblog if you have the time. Would really love the opinion of someone who doesn't want to bone either of the brothers and has seen Supernatural (because drawing comparisons is always fun).

Huh, hopefully Damon was more like Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and less like Doctor House from House.

I like Nina Dobrev and seen a few TVD clips of her many incarnations and may be compelled one day to see the show.

So maybe just the first 3 seasons then?
