So I came to realization today.

(Lei is a general stand in for all three disciples she's just the one I had on hand. I'd put them all in roughly the same spot)

we were given 3 prompts, and could choose one or more of the prompts to make a drawing with in an hour

i kept it simple and used the prompt "GIGALOMANIA"

For some reason I’m thinking that if there is a fighter for Live A Live, the first one would be Odio

Idk it seems to be a pretty unexpected rep and like. Live A Live is basically a collection of stories in one game with him as a central part in one way shape or form, so.

BEHOLD: AN UPDATE!

so i was thinking about the grapes design motif on pure odio

and at first i thought it was like his grudge had festered and changed to something completely different like how grape juice changes to wine with time alone and isolated (though i guess in odio's case it's more like vinegar lol)

but then i realized that it's probably an allusion to the biblical verse where The Grapes Of Wrath came from (spoilers ahead just in case)

Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.”

So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs.

i'm not super well versed on bible lore, but iirc the verse is in reference to god smiting the nonbelievers, which also ties in to what odio did to lucrece after oersted accepted the LoD, and his insistence of repeating "BELIEVE IN ME"

which kinda ties into the intended hubris of the character, how oersted's self image and pride and how hard it came crashing down after he was set up. after all, most people don't really think they're the Bad Guy, and one of the most dangerous things is someone who thinks they're the hero.

so if he so desperately clung to that self image of the hero in spite of hasshe's words, that could be another factor in why he ultimately accepted the LoD, wishing to "smite the nonbelievers"

HAPPY LAL REMAKE ANNIVERSARY!!! second one is an anniversary version of what I drew for the remakes release (under the cut)
