Came up with an idea for a new tag game last night while I was trying to sleep.

What are three movies/tv shows that shaped your childhood?

1. Frozen. I feel so bad for the amount of times my parents had to listen to me and my sister screaming the lyrics to Let It Go (really all the songs in that movie). We went to see it in the theater THREE TIMES, my parents even got us those Elsa dresses that were like $100. My sister and I were obsessed with that movie for YEARS (I can literally quote every single word).

2. Descendants. I very vividly remember watching this movie for the first time on Disney Channel, I can even tell you where all the ad breaks were lol. Another one me and my sister were obsessed with. The year the first Descendants came out, for Halloween I was Evie and she was Mal, and the year that the third one came out I was Audrey and she was Mal again.

3. Since the other two were movies, let’s do a tv show. Liv and Maddie. It was like me and my sister, but twins and older. I related a lot to Liv (I’ve always really liked singing and acting, and at the time I wanted to be an actress when I grew up) and my sister really like Maddie (she’s always been the more athletic of the two of us). We also both really liked Parker because we’ve both always been very good at school and enjoyed it a lot, plus he’s just funny. We watched all four seasons at least ten times.

Can you tell I grew up in a Disney house? Disney has always been a big part of my family, my parents met during the college program at WDW and then my mom transferred to my dad’s college without even knowing it was his college. They always say their love story is like a Disney movie, very fitting. Anyhoo, I’m off topic.

TW MY OPINION

i strongly believe that in like at least 90% of every disney show, the show just goes downhill after season 3

for example, liv and maddie: cali style. one of my friends on instagram who has a liv and maddie account doesn’t post about season 4 because she hates it. she even has a pinned post of a small set of reasons why she hates it so much (and understandably so.) i mean, the dad left the show, diggie and maddie are together, they’re not in stevens point, wisconsin anymore? i like dina and ruby, don’t get me wrong, but like, cali style was so so bad

another example, someone’s going to crucify me for this one, is austin and ally. growing up, i had a HUGE crush on ross/austin, and for a bit, i hated the ship auslly. a few years later, i made a whole fanpage for auslly. now, i still like ross and A&A, but as for the ship, i’m neutral. anyway, in season 4, sonic boom changed to A&A music factory, austin’s hair was long?? EW? and it just wasn’t as enjoyable as seasons 1-3. also jace and trish didn’t end up together, excuse me? idk man i just never really liked season 4 of A&A

jessie is probably the only exception to this. all 4 seasons of jessie i loved.

good luck charlie i feel like is debatable. it was an interesting and fun 4 seasons, BUT, spencer and teddy should have NEVER gotten back together. i rest my case

hannah montana is also debatable. again with the ex’s, jake was in the picture (thank the GODS she and him didn’t end up together, i would have thrown hands). i like them being in a different place, i like lily living with them, but i do miss the old house they used to live in, and especially rico’s little shop (or whatever it’s called.)

did suite life on deck make it to 4 seasons? i don’t even remember

wizards of waverly place i think had a good season 4, especially the finale. i like the fact that mason and alex ended up together, juliet and justin ended up together, and both justin and alex got to keep their powers. i feel like max deserved more than the sub station but he did seem ecstatic about that i won’t complain

this one’s gonna hurt me like hell, but, lab rats. you guys know i love this show. it’s my favorite, it’s my comfort show, but i’m not gonna lie, i try to avoid bionic island when i’m watching it. it’s just not as fun as the other seasons. like, tasha isn’t really there, sometimes douglas is there more than donald, sebastian is there (yes this is a sebastian and sebase slander page), they started to make chase more annoying, and they’re not in mission creek anymore. i just think that season 4 of lab rats is my least favorite. i even like elite force better, and we all know how badly they wrote elite force

A coda to 6x10/6x11 | 1300 words, Taylor Kelly

Taylor’s in the newsroom working late because it’s Santa Ana season and everyone’s working late. Buck once told her that first responders hate the Santa Anas because the wind makes people do weird shit, but weird shit is good business for her. She has already filed a story about a woman out in Brentwood going around pouring yellow paint on cars to protest a proposed rideshare law and now she’s working on the dry lightning story because it’s too big for just Jose and he might be better at investigative work but she’s the one with camera presence.

The big screen on the wall is showing a building fire and once upon a time she’d have been paying close attention, offering to take it even though she’s high enough up on the food chain now that if someone from the mayor’s office isn’t there than neither is she. Once upon a time, she’d joked about hot firefighters but it had always ever been about knowing what was happening before she got an awkward phone call from Bobby Nash because she wasn’t Buck’s next-of-kin. (She’d never cared that Buck hadn’t changed it from Maddie; his reasons weren’t about his lack of commitment.)

But it’s not once upon a time just like it’s not happily ever after and so she turns away and back to her own screen because Jose’s notes read like he’s cramming for a midterm and not a three minute hit before the weather report.

(She knows the 118 is there because nobody in this newsroom will ever stop telling her when the 118 is there. It’s only partially mean-spirited.)

“Holy fuck!” someone yells and she looks up. The cameras on the scene are running B-roll that someone not-her will be narrating later and, without needing to focus on a reporter, the camera is pulled in for a tight shot of a firefighter dangling limply at the end of an extended ladder like bait at the end of a fishing line. Or a sacrifice to an unholy god.

“Lightning strike on the ladder. Blew one guy clean off, other one’s just hanging there.”

She gives up pretending she doesn’t care and stands to watch.

The camera pulls back to another firefighter scrambling up the ladder and while it’s pouring rain and the floodlights are making the reflective strips spark like flares as the man moves, she can make out the name on the back: Diaz.

Eddie’s not the only Diaz in the LAFD and any Diaz would be running for whoever it was at the end of the tether. But she knows it’s him, even in the pouring rain, even in the dark cut by floodlights; he gets illuminated in profile and she can see enough. And she knows that he would be the closest man for precisely one firefighter and Taylor reaches blindly for her desk because she needs something that will stand still while her world is suddenly spinning.

The rest of the night is a haze. She texts her friend Olivia that she thinks she just watched Buck die on TV and then tries to focus on Jose’s notes like they will make more sense now that they are the only thing that might keep her together. She gets sent home at eleven by her editor because everyone is going home now that the rain is down to a drizzle. She doesn’t look at her phone until she’s got a glass of wine in her hand and there is a long string of increasingly concerned texts from Liv and two voicemails and she just can’t right now.

In the morning there’s a post on the station website about the fire, the footage of the lightning strike in prime position on the page and autoplaying. Inez did the news story because she gets stuck on overnights and she doesn’t say who it was or which hospital the ten injuries got sent to and Taylor has to decide whether to ask her. Inez is young and pretty and would shank her own grandmother for a scoop and Taylor respects that about her – game recognizes game. Inez isn’t giving her the time of day unless there’s something in it for her and Taylor hesitates on paying that price. Right now, the fire story is clickbait because of the video, but the video will be all over socials by nine-thirty and the story link will be down by the hockey scores and horoscopes by lunch. Inez finding out about Buck will have that story on the top of the site all day because then she’ll have an exclusive – the names that the LAFD has thus far refused to release. Taylor’s not ready to give Inez anything that will get her off of the graveyard shift.

The problem is that she’s got no other options right now. The Jonah Greenway story didn’t just end her relationship with Buck, it also burned all of her other sources. There isn’t anyone at the LAFD who will talk to her on or off the record; the brass hate that she exposed their shitty due diligence in hiring Greenway and the rank-and-file all think she nearly got Hen Wilson and Chimney Han killed. She lets everyone think she doesn’t do fire stories anymore because of a bad breakup, but the truth is that she can’t get anything out of anyone anymore. The entire station has trouble now.

She has no other options and so that’s why she’s knocking on Eddie Diaz’s door that afternoon. Eddie didn’t like her when she was with Buck and she’s sure he likes her even less now, but he’s the member of the 118 least likely to slam the door in her face and that’s enough right now.

Eddie doesn’t answer the door; Carla does. Carla tells her what and where, but also tells her not to go. It’s kindly said, but Carla’s do-not-bullshit-me tone is clear. Everyone from the 118 is there, none of them want to see her, and she no longer has the right to intrude on their privacy.

Taylor wants to say that she doesn’t have to make herself hurt more to make them feel better, but there’s a sudden, desperate, awful wail from the back of the house and it has to be Christopher and Carla gives her a meaningful look before telling her to be well and closing the door.

She can hear Christopher still, crying out for Buck and for his father and it makes her shudder and turn to go.

Back in her car, she calls Buck’s phone and it goes straight to voicemail and she isn’t even sure what she says but she’s glad she got to say something, that the inbox isn’t full. That in case this is ‘goodbye’ she gets to do it pretending he will hear it and not to his coffin.

It’s not to his coffin. LAFD announces that one firefighter has been released from the hospital and, a week later, the second one.  

Two weeks later, she gets a text from Buck’s number: “Thanks” and a blue heart and it makes her laugh despite herself because they had once had a protracted and somewhat drunken debate over what non-red hearts in texts meant and Buck had decided that blue was for nice things and green was insincere for reasons that had made no sense at the time and are lost to her now. Despite everything, she misses him sometimes and right now, she wishes she still had the right to turn up at his apartment and give him a hug.

thank youuuuu for asking i love you!! i know i said five but i didn’t want to stop at five so i did ten. also im gonna try and refrain myself from just saying every song is a buck song but it’s hard

1. Brutal- seasons 1-3 May. I feel like we as a collective don’t talk about the early seasons of may grant enough. she was just a kid! and she was being bullied so bad she thought she didn’t have any way out of it, it’s so heartbreaking. and then she just kept going through stuff in her family life and… i just care for her so much and this is HER song fr.

2. Deja Vu- Buddie. there’s no like actual moment of buddie for deja vu but i just feel like this is what’s going through both of their heads every single time the other person has a date with someone else. like this is the one and only buddie jealousy song to me!

3. Vampire- Buck/abby. like i’m sorry you can’t convince me buck abby was an ethical relationship and im NOT talking about the age gap even though that’s the main point of this song. like she got his info in a sketchy way and then basically used him to help her heal until she was ready to move on but then didn’t even have the guts to do an actual breakup and left the kid hanging for months. call me a bitch but i feel very comfortable saying she sucked so much of his energy and life. it took two full seasons for him to fully find closure from that while she had started a whole new life! :/

4. Stranger- Buck/abby again lol. this is like the other side of that argument where it’s like, buck was totally crushed but now in season seven who the fuck cares about her! she’s just a stranger now! and the lyric “you are the best thing i keep so far out of my life” is very them. because she did change his outlook on life in MANY ways but his healing from her was the best thing he could have ever done.

5. logical & enough for you- maddie. my heart breaks listening to these songs from a maddie perspective. thinking about how long she suffered and dealt with so much she didn’t deserve,,, these are the best songs for her imo especially the lyric “one day i’ll be everything for somebody else” because she is she really is! and she’s getting married to the person who looks at her like she hung the moon and i love her!!!

6. Making the bed- eddie, specifically pre canon eddie. idk how to explain this one but it’s very much just the idea of him getting back to his son realizing how shit things are and being like … i had a part in making this problem and now i need to fix my shit. and then he did!

7. 1sf3sb- henren in the early seasons/precanon. the cheating storyline is one of my least favs but i love how they showed them rebuilding from it and coming back even stronger. but in the midst of it all this song is truly very them from karen’s perspective. she was valid for everything during that time btw karen is a literal saint for her patience.

8. boahsg- ravi, our little clumsy socially awkward darling

Love is embarrassing- Bisexual buck!!!!!! this is my fav liv song and it’s so buck it’s not even funny. the anthem for the give more than they get hopeless romantics oh god i love him and it became way way more buck when he kissed a man who’s kind of a loser. i bet he’s planning out his wedding with a guy he’s never marrying right now!

10. finally, the newest addition to my list and the most important in my mind: Scared of my guitar the most buddie song to ever buddie (other than good luck babe). I love this song so much coming from the perspective of them literally not being able to lie to each other but they can lie to significant others like it’s nothing. oh there’s so much good stuff in there it’s amazing.

My initial Spoiler Thoughts (as I was watching) for 7x10. 

Hm.

What a breakneck pace. I think it was a bit too much because nothing was really allowed to breathe.

Ah, so Chris called his grandparents. Kinda expected that.

Ramon “even in death this woman is running your life.” I think that’s what he said and… he ain’t wrong. 

Athena in cop mode. *the longest sigh* This show has to play such a tight line, I know. They want to question cops, but when it’s Athena? She’s gotta be the hero and they let so much of what she does slide. She gets to be a serious hypocrite. 

Will Athena even face any consequences for all the law and rule breaking/bending that she did? Only time will tell, but canon so far says no. I think she’s been benched in any capacity once? In season one.  

Wow. I really didn’t expect much, but we literally got a 5 second acknowledgment of an off screen breakup between Marisol and Eddie. I mean there would have been zero weight to have it on screen because their relationship was such a nothing burger. But man. I’ve said it before, but there was no point to Marisol sticking around for the entire season. Good lord. 

“Being the living testament to a dead person is a lonely existence.” This applies to Athena, Amir, Bobby, and Eddie. And I feel like the only ones who learned something from this is everyone but Eddie. 

Damn, Jamal is an amazing actor. He was on par with Angela in that scene. I seriously hope we get to keep Amir because 1) he’s just a good guy, and 2) I want to keep this actor because he’s just awesome. 

I called it in 7x8 that the cartel, or the cartel adjacent apparently, would be the ones to hurt Bobby and I was right. This whole thing… happened so fast and felt. Idk, almost anticlimactic? 

Tommy lore! Sad though. He has a shitty dad that he doesn’t talk to because he’s comparable to Gerrard. Woof. 

There was nothing wrong with the date scene. I have a whole post about why there was nothing wrong with what Tommy said. Tommy was matching Bucks energy, and moved things into lighter territory that happened to include daddy kink (which as far as kinks go is mild).  

That felt a little weird? The scene with Bobby, Athena, Harry, and May. I know this show is trying to say they’ll be alright especially since this is the last episode of the season, but man. We didn’t get to see any, idk, concern from Harry and May over Bobby or sadness over their childhood house being burned down? 

Okay well I am definitely glad that Maddie and Chimney got to help out, that they’re going to foster Mara and thus bring the Wilson family back together in some capacity. I don’t know how they arranged that so fast, but I’ll take it. I think it really makes sense especially coming from Chimney whose dad basically abandoned him in the US, and so Chimney was taken in by the Lees, who were friends with Chimney’s mom.  

I’m, idk, there was so little communication overall amongst Eddie, Chris, Helena, Ramon, and even Buck? Like it was just simply “Chris is mad so he’s staying with his grandparents for an indefinite time.” Okay??? Like there was no conversation from anyone with Chris and what he’s even feeling beyond “I’m mad.” 

I know this is a drama show and we need to suspend our disbelief fairly often about things, but come on. Gerrard was kicked out, let go of being the captain at the 118 because of multiple misconduct reports. And you’re telling me that 1) he’s even still an active firefighter because truly how the hell has he not been fired before now, and 2) anyone would look into the records of the 118 and think putting Gerrard in charge - at the same firehouse he was booted from - is a good idea??? And thirdly, why is Hen not in charge? She’s interim captain, so why is she not stepping up until Bobby gets his place back, or literally anyone better than Gerrard comes in????? I know some of fandom sees this as juicy drama material, which I get, but right now all I see is a bigoted white man brought back who is going to make the lives of several non white people a living hell for drama. 

I’m… not 100% sure how I feel about this one. The pacing was too fast for me, and so nothing was really allowed to breathe. While not inherently a bad thing, but a lot of this was just predictable (thank you Elle for this word). I honestly didn’t get to feel much about Bobby’s story because it happened so fast in the story and just watching it. I felt more moved by Mara and Eddie and Chris’s story, but even that… I don’t know how to explain it.

Again I think it’s the pacing that lessened the impact of a lot of what happened. I’m also not particularly pleased with how, overall, Eddie has been handled this season as explained in this post. 

This wasn’t a bad episode, but I don’t think I’d call it great either.  As of right now, overall it felt weirdly anticlimactic I think.

hi! a while back you said that downloadinhd had posted liv and maddie episodes? i was wondering if they have done the same for either season of schmigadoon? i can’t find either literally anywhere, but i don’t have a discord ☹️☹️

i know they originally had s1 of schmigadoon but then something happened to all of their links and they’re in the process of restoring. not sure if they’ve gotten to that yet! i’m gonna be giffing s2 soon so i’ll be on the lookout for downloads this weekend and can share if/when i find them!!

hi it's your secret santa again! i also hate that episode of hannah montana forever :( formative experience was being betrayed like that at a young age #notmyjakeryan. also i remember finding out they recycled that song for glc and being confused. like... they couldn't just write a second acoustic christmas song? lol. also i think naming my fave disney channel stuff will give me away but i've always really enjoyed 2d animated christmas movies in general.

OKAY favorite non-holiday disney channel episodes:

swac: 2x10 falling for the falls pt 1 changed my life!! also 1x09, 1x12, 1x17, 2x09, 2x15, 2x16, 2x22 and 2x25 (this is considering sonny with a secret is one episode)

phineas and ferb: literally anything from seasons 1 and 2 is amazing but i'll say one good scare ought to do it is my favorite

jonas: 1x19 cold shoulder is so so funny AND kevin sings left my heart in scandinavia which i love. also 1x18 double date my beloved

wowp: i've been rewatching the show and 1x09 and 1x15 are so good, but in general i'm really fond of the first season

liv and maddie: i LOVE the season 3 finale like. truly. i also love flugelball-a-rooney. actually this choice of episodes is so biased because both feature my favorite dove acting performances shdhssdh but yeah there's a bunch of great episodes in 2 and 3

zeke and luther: ONE STRANGE NIGHT. also summer school, soul bucket, not my sister's keeper, airheads, old nasty, double crush, the bro list, unusual suspects and sibling rivalries

Zac opening the episode the way he did in 1991 made me so nostalgic

Aabria killed it tonight as usual and I really hope they do find a way to bring Laura back

The scene with Mallory and Laura made me cry hrggggggg I'm so upset they didn't get to have a proper reunion

bUT MALLORY IS THE DRIVER AND HAS BEEN THE WHOLE TIME

The driver death scene was so dramatic lol I loved it and story's entrance was rlly cool

This season was so good and everyone on and off screen absolutely killed it and I hope they all enjoy their well deserved rest

Here's to hoping for a season 4!!
