Opinions on snails
I prefer snails over slugs - I think they are pretty cute with their little eyestalks.Â
Describe your aesthetic
This is difficult, because on the one hand Iâm very into cottagecore, but I live in the city and thatâs basically a fantasy. In the real world I go for clean lines and timeless design. I like a mix between simple forms and natural materials. In clothes I also have a âless is moreâ approach. I donât do bling or neon. Comfort is everything to me.Â
thanks for asking, bab! <3

The Changeling Improv Fiasco
For some reason the play was still As You Like It. It hadnât turned into The Play yet, and Benedick had great hopes of it remaining so throughout the evening. There had been the wrestling, the banishing of Rosalind, the transformation to Ganymede and Aliena and even the confrontation of Olivier and Orlando and all was still more or less going as planned. True, Keys, who played the role of Charles the wrestler, would have to be replaced with Yoko after tonight, since âyou will try but one fallâ had turned into âyou will fight to the deathâ. Alyssa, who played Rosalind, had done some seriously impressive improv to assure that the new Orlan-NO, as Benedick called him in his mind when he was sure no-one was listening in, only mildly sprained some of Keysâs body parts. It was a calculated risk. All actors knew the dangers of the craft. No-one with black glistening skin and eyes without pupils was going to scare them off. Even if they werenât a regular.
There were some Regular Visitors that Benedick had almost grown rather fond of. Some only showed up for Waiting for Godot and heâd have to soothe the Estragon of that evening with promises of other nights and other plays. Others came for nothing but Shakespeare. For example, the Other Evellyn sometimes replaced female parts that the original Evellyn was going to play, which was something of a blessing because if you looked past the extra fingers and the occasional flicking of the tongue, she beat the original by a mile when it came to monologue-delivery. Other Evellyn also graciously placed the Evellyn she was replacing in the same props-storage room every time she came to Visit, to avoid Drama. She was quite pleasant, really.
Some of the cast never avoided any drama. In theatre, that group is fairly small. Benedick shook his head. RATHER. Not the other word. Not even close to the other word. No. Rather small. The rining in his ears stopped. He breathed. Close one. What had he been thinking? Right, drama. Some actors here LIVED on drama. Of course there was Huâthoâlugh, the thing with the purple and the claws and the sash, but when it came to humans, Jaques was a close second. Benedick sat down on the props-table. He mouthed along the lines of Jaques, as played by Jaques. âInvest me in my motley; give me leave to speak my mind, and I will through and through  cleanse the foul body of the infected world, if they will patiently receive my medicine.â Jaques might do with a little less speaking his mind and a lot more cleansing of his own sometime soon. Benedick had given him several whispered warnings that playing the part on which your name was based was a terrible idea. He, for example, would NEVER want to play Benedick. Thatâs why the name was so suitable. But there was Jaques, on stage, in an already-descending glittering mist, playing himself. Intensifying his identity and his ties to his name. Foolishness of true Shakespearean proportions. Good job Jaques. Very appropriate.
Benedick buried his face in his hands while he listened to the idiotâs final lines. âBut who comes here?â A thought occured to Benedick. He hadnât seen it as a fighting scene, it hadnât been so in the original script. But anything could happen. Orlando, no, OrlanNO was in control of the lines. âForbear, and eat no more.â Benedick peeked through his fingers at the stage. Between the curtains, he could see the back of Jaques. Nothing of his posture revealed there was anything wrong, but if OrlanNO had been looking at Benedick the way he was currently looking at Jaques, he wouldnât have been able to squeak out âWhy, I have eat none yetâ with such volume. Benedick crept closer to the curtains as the actors on stage started to realise what was wrong with every line spoken. âNor shalt not, till my hunger is satisfiedâ was never in the script. The senior Duke was played by The Captain that night, and Benedick had to commend him for how little he stuttered during his lines. In fact, he had almost got to ârude despiser of good mannersâ before he lapsed into silence. His eyes met Benedickâs, who then glanced at OrlanNO with uncertainty. The changeling looked less and less like the Wilfred that he had been trying to imitate. Benedick somehow doubted that they would find poor Wilfred back in any props cupboard anywhere. White teeth glimmered in the bright stage lights. OrlanNO looked hungry. Famished.
Benedickâs hands clutched the curtain. He took a look at the stage, the audience, the teeth. Then he straightened his back, shoved his bell-cap on his head and thrust himself onto the stage. Touchstone was not in this scene, but the Duke didnât look like he was going to say another word till next week and the show must go on. He stared at the audience, jingled slightly and muttered a joy-less âhey ho nonny nonnyâ before doing something truly foolish. He addressed OrlanNO directly. âWhat would you have? Your gentleness shall force more than your force move us to gentleness.â OrlanNO had stopped bothering with lines. It was an improv fiasco, but what else could a fool do? âI see you almost die for foodâŠâ He exchanged looks with Jaques, who croaked âwould you have it?â Benedick cling-clanged over to OrlanNO, who was eyeing the first row rather than the kettle-of-stew-prop that they had on stage. An audience member instantly dropped her bag of M&Mâs. The sound of rolling candy made OrlanNO growl.
Touchstone took over. Benedick heard Touchstone say âI was bid to come for you.â And with a jump that made all the bells on his suit sound like the world tiniest and most excited cathedral, he landed off the stage, right in front of the audience. âGood ev'n, gentle friendâ was also part of his lines, which cobbled themselves together to suggest some audience interaction might be required at this point. Thankfully, the first few rows had got the point rather swiftly. Touchstoneâs bell-cap came off and in it, any and all audience snacks were gathered. Touchstone looked at OrlanNO for approval. âSo-so.â The voice was almost Wilfredâs again. He sounded almost pleased. â'So soâ is good, very good, very excellent good; and yet it is not; it is but so so.â Touchstone looked pointedly at the people in the back rows, who started throwing their snacks onstage. This seemed to put OrlanNO back into his good humour. Touchstone climbed the stage and presented the âmealâ. âSit down and feed, and welcome to our table.â
The hungry changeling dropped to the floor and grabbed for the food. OrlanNO seemed capable of speech while eating. As the contents of the hat were being devoured, somewhere from the inside of OrlanNO came the lines: âPardon me, I pray you: I thought that all things had been savage here; and therefore put I on the countenance of stern commandment. But whate'er you are that in this desert inaccessible, under the shade of melancholy boughs, lose and neglect the creeping hours of time. If ever you have lookâd on better days, if ever been where bells have knollâd to church, if ever sat at any good manâs feast, if ever from your eyelids wiped a tear and know what âtis to pity and be pitied, let gentleness my strong enforcement be: In the which hope I blush, and hide my sword.â Touchstone decided that Adam could wait for his part of the meal just a little longer. To distract the audience from the sound of loud chewing, he prodded Jaques. âThou seest we are not all alone unhappy: This wide and universal theatre presents more woeful pageants than the scene wherein we play in.â Jaques nodded, and to his credit, took the centre stage. While an expert demonstration of the word âgnawingâ could be witnessed behind him, Jaques started âAll the worldâs a stageâŠâ Touchstone crept back into the curtains. The show went on.Â

littlewhitely replied to your post âYow Dutch people! I need help! I need to translate âprutserijen.â As...â
It's a very distinct and unique and archaic word, I'd almost say; don't try to translate it. 'Silly things' doesn't quite cut it, or you might have to resort to the very English 'nonsense' 'ridiculousness' 'piffle' 'tosh' or 'balderdash' ...
It has become nonsense. Luckily for me, the film is not that long. Nor do people say THAT much. Most difficult thing is that the emotion and context has to fit, so I can't just translate things.
But it's almost done!

littlewhitely replied to your post: ughhh i hate realizing a better topic when im at...
Noooooope. A well-structured argument is key to a good paper, and redoing a lot after youve finished is not going to work so well, so youll have to restructure the whole thing. If youre not willing to do that, then maybe you shouldnt.
oh, i'm completely aware of that. the problem wouldn't have been so much the structure as the flow-- as it stood, the second and third paragraphs would have contained a lot of information that was only loosely connected to my new thesis. it would have remained relevant in a general sense, but would have made the paper drag. i reworked a few things, though, and i think it works now.
plus, i think i maybe didn't properly state what i meant-- it wasn't an entirely new topic that i came up with, but a more refined take on the original topic (initially i was arguing that one of ezra pound's translations was significant because it retained cultural information. now i'm discussing how his emphasis on time preserves the influnces of daoism and confucianism in li po's work. gosh what an exciting paper). restructuring wasn't totally required.
so i totally appreciate the advice, but i've got it under control (for now) :]

I live on my own since half a year now and I can totally relate to everything you wrote. Itâs calm and nice, but also quite overwhelming in the beginning. I got the hang of it really fast and I hope the same for you :)
thanks :). Â yeah it'll probs get easier after a while i hope.. kinda slowly getting used to things/still have to figure some things out (laundry will be much better once i've washed everything once and know what programs etc to use :p).

I know the feels. Moving out is weeiiiird. Iâve been living on my own for about six months now and stuff is still weeeiiiird. Like going home to my parents, is kinda home but not really anymore and my room is getting more home moment by moment.
Uhuh, that and it's weird.. i guess i more thought of it as getting a second home and didn't really think home at my parents would become less home but yeah.
littlewhitely heeft gezegd:Â
This is all very familiar. Itâs like limbo, awkwardly in-between homeness. And yeah, suddenly, housework takes up at least twice as much time as it did when you were at home. I hope you settle in soon, it sounds like youâre gonna have some fun. :)
thanks :). it's kinda nice to hear that this is how it goes for lotsa people :). and uhuh housework is taking ages atm. apparently i'm super slow at washing dishes :p.
